At 9:15, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki will inaugurate an information and consultation campaign regarding the so-called Kaczyński's "Five." The difficult situation in Polish schools, the protest action announced by teachers, but all of this is to help Polish schools, students, parents, and finally teachers, and we know how important it is. Today, the PiS government does not want to listen to the community, to help Polish schools. Today, there is no money for teachers. So I want to say very clearly: after the October elections, we will fulfill the expectations of the teaching community, and money will be found for their salary increase. This will be 1000 PLN gross for every teacher. Today, before the European elections, we hear that PiS politicians are fleeing to Brussels, that an evacuation is underway, in which the Minister of Education is participating. We will remember our commitments, we will remember Polish schools, we will remember teachers. I'm annoyed that an idea we presented, which has been our idea, part of our program for 3 years, that 500+ should also be for the first child, that PiS is trying to steal it. This is certainly absolutely necessary from the perspective of elementary justice. As we said then, every child is equal, the first child also counts, including for demographic reasons. We always said and knew that it would be a very significant cost. And of course, such costs must be managed. We believed, we believed that in the upcoming term, the economy would be able to cope with this, if it is managed by a responsible, economically competent, and uncorrupted team, such as PiS is – stated Jacek Rostowski in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

It will be very difficult, but it is doable, provided that economic growth is maintained and investments are increased. All of this requires a government that is economically competent. Our program at the time was that we would do this in the next term – emphasized the former finance minister. – Two years ago, before PiS increased other expenditures by around PLN 40-50 billion, it would have been possible. It is always a matter of priorities. Our priority then was justice for everyone, directly: including for city dwellers who tend to have one child rather than two, and this was the form in which PiS created this program, it was purely aimed at gaining political support from its electorate – he added.

- The European Coalition has quite a broad spectrum of political views. I am certainly not on the left side of that spectrum, but rather I have centre-right views, so it depends on what suits someone more - said Władysław Teofil Bartoszewski in an interview with Piotr Witwicki on Polsat News' "Graffiti".

- The PSL is currently the closest party in Poland to German Christian democracy. That is what I believe in politics. That is, I am a liberal conservative - added Bartoszewski.

- Today, it will be manageable, financable, and securable if there is a government that, on the one hand, is responsible and doesn't squander money in a panic to avoid losing elections and to avoid ending up, in many cases, in very serious trouble, including criminal and legal trouble, because we see the extent of corruption. Poland hasn't seen corruption on this scale since communist times. Every day there's some new, gigantic, scandalous affair. [I'm talking about] what we know and what appears in the public sphere. The Austrian's testimony that President Kaczyński held an envelope containing 50,000 PLN for a priest is simply the kind of thing that causes this state to disintegrate, both morally and financially, and in terms of the rule of law. An investigation into what President Kaczyński did in the context of the Srebrna company should have been launched long ago - stated Jacek Rostowski in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

- I spoke about all the promises, of which PiS has not fulfilled 2/3. Back then, during the election campaign, they said that 500+ would be for every child from the beginning of the current term. The prime ministerial candidate Beata Szydło said it would be for every child and did not say it would be at the very end of the term. After that, there were also promises from President Duda for gigantic sums for 'frankowcy' (people with Swiss franc loans). For all these promises they made to win the election, there was no money until the end of the term, and that is exactly the truth. I am very glad that you brought this up, because the PiS television is constantly distorting this statement - stated Jacek Rostowski in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego," when asked about his statement that "there is no money and there will be none."

- The fact that someone after a liter of vodka gets into a car, drives 50 km, and doesn't crash, doesn't kill themselves, and doesn't kill God knows how many innocent people, doesn't mean you should drink a liter of vodka before getting behind the wheel. The fact that PiS had exceptional luck, a very good economic situation... The question is whether we should be cautious or take risks. PiS always takes risks - stated Jacek Rostowski in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego."

- I think you're asking too much, because these things are the hardest to predict, as the deficit is truly the difference between two... a small difference between two very large numbers. All economists' forecasts [for] 3 years ahead are almost always wrong. This doesn't mean we don't need them, in order to have some consistency in planning - he continued, in the context of Andrzej Rzońca's statement about a 100 billion deficit.

– This is absolutely untrue. Michał Boni is mistaken. He is utterly mistaken [regarding the OFE]. I will tell you why. We have reduced public debt by 9 percentage points, which is around 1/5, and I will tell you this: without this elimination of the unproductive turnover of public debt, meaning counting something as official public debt that did not have to be counted as such and is not counted that way in any other European country, in any large European country, then it certainly would not have been possible to finance the 500+ program for anyone – stated Jacek Rostowski in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Piasecki's Conversation".

No [I'm not running for the EP]. I didn't particularly [want to]. I believe it is a great achievement for Grzegorz Schetyna that he managed to assemble this broad, united opposition. This is absolutely necessary in a situation where the foundations of law are being destroyed by corruption, meaning the state by corruption, an attack on the rule of law, which harms our medium-term development opportunities. Therefore, we must have the broadest possible coalition – stated Jacek Rostowski in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

- A decision will be made this week. The President will sign the bill - said Błażej Spychalski in an interview with Robert Mazurek on RMF FM's "Morning Interview".

- Where does the critical situation of public media stem from? Well, it stems from...

- No. It stems from the fact that very few people pay the license fee. This is a result of what Tusk did in 2007. That's when subscription revenue collapsed - stated the presidential minister.

- This doesn't inspire my enthusiasm [signing the LGBT+ declaration], but what enrages me absolutely is what PiS is doing, this incitement against LGBT groups. It's simply vile and nasty, and moreover, the height of hypocrisy, because everyone knows that there isn't a political party in Poland with more undisclosed gays than in PiS, and especially at the highest positions in PiS - stated Jacek Rostowski in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

- It's not my business to say who at the highest levels of PiS is gay, but I think the LGBT community should consider whether PiS hasn't crossed a certain line now - he added.

- The President will likely be in the United States in June - said Błażej Spychalski in an interview with Robert Mazurek on RMF FM's "Morning Interview".

- What does Fort Trump mean? I know perfectly well what it means. It's about having an increased American presence of American troops and equipment in Poland. And that's Fort Trump - the presidential minister continued.

- From the very beginning, we have said that it is about a permanent presence of American troops in Poland. However, as the President has stated many times, it will definitely not be a second Malbork - Spychalski stated.

- I understand what you're referring to, the recent walkout of the minister [Czaputowicz] from the studio [RMF FM]. I will indeed speak with him and urge him to return and speak with the editor once emotions have subsided, but please note that it was the minister's working day in parliament at the time. The exhaustive information he provided on foreign policy, the debate – all of this combined meant that, in reality, each of us is only human and to have time to familiarize ourselves with the current situation, we need a moment, and the minister was active until the end. There, meaning in parliament, in the Sejm, he answered questions. He presented the directions of the government's foreign policy – stated Joanna Kopcińska in an interview with Beata Lubecka on Radio Zet.

- 'We won't discuss this [teacher salary increases] here, in the studio, with all due respect. It should be a dialogue between those who are protesting and the authorities of the Ministry of National Education. This delegation from our side can undergo certain changes, modifications, but first and foremost, there must be dialogue' - stated Joanna Kopcińska in an interview with Beata Lubecka on Radio Zet.

- 'For dialogue to occur, both sides must want it, and at the moment, there are only declarations, mainly from Mr. Broniarz through the media. I cordially invite those who wish to talk to sit down. Only then can we meet halfway. The PiS government has taken certain steps to raise teachers' salaries. I understand the teachers' disappointment that it's too low, too slow, but it has begun' - emphasized the government spokesperson.

- I'm a bit lost in Mr. Broniarz's message, who was first against the creation of junior high schools, then against their liquidation. Now he is blackmailing parents and children by saying there will be no promotion to the next grade. This is Mr. Broniarz frightening parents, teachers, and children. Someone who should primarily protect children - stated Joanna Kopcińska in an interview with Beata Lubecka on Radio Zet.

- I disagree that the minister [Zalewska] is an ineffective minister, because it was she who introduced the indexation. This year's increases will be threefold, she abolished "card hours" for which teachers were not paid and provided remuneration also for trainee teachers and paid interest clubs, but of course there is a possibility for our delegation to change and be supplemented, let's just sit down at one table and talk, because an agreement needs to be found here - stated Joanna Kopcińska in an interview with Beata Lubecka on Radio Zet.

Of course, I am a tolerant person, like most of my colleagues, but I am against adoption by homosexual couples – stated Joanna Kopcińska in an interview with Beata Lubecka on Radio Zet. Mr. Rabiej did not say that. Mr. Rabiej said what he said, that society needs to get used to homosexual couples adopting children. PiS does not agree to this, Article 18 [of the Constitution] clearly states: it is the union of a woman and a man, parenthood is under the special supervision of the Polish state – she added.

"For those in power, especially since the teachers' Solidarity has also lost patience, this is the time to reach an agreement, to talk. What is about to happen [the teachers' strike] is not inevitable" - said the Vice-Chairman of Civic Platform, Tomasz Siemoniak, in a conversation with Dominika Wielowieyska on TOK FM Radio's Morning program - "Of course, I have doubts [about the strike during exams]. I am a parent myself. I belong to the thousands of people who are worried about this situation, but I clearly see the causes of this state of affairs. I appeal to the government to dismiss Minister Zalewska now and for someone minimally responsible for education to take care of this and start talking with the teachers". 

The weather is very beautiful, and with this weather, we are heading out across Poland to communicate, to inform about our program proposals. These proposals are for everyone, because we are starting with the fact that the 500+ program extended to the first child is a program intended to help children with education, spending holidays, and free time, allowing for better conditions and a better start. Later, when a person grows up, turns 18, and either goes to university or starts work, or enters some vocational school, looking for some career opportunities, then up to the age of 26, there are fundamentally much better working conditions, because we have here proposals for young people for tax-free work – PIT up to the age of 26 is 0%. Later, for further life decisions, or earlier, getting married, and with that comes 500+, and with entering the professional life, of course, the de facto tax wedge, a postulate that entrepreneurs have been asking for for 20 years. We are reducing this tax wedge by lowering PIT from 18% to 17% and by at least doubling the tax-deductible costs, and at the same time, we are making it easier to employ not only the youngest workers, but it will also be easier to employ all employees. So, despite the fact that unemployment in Poland is one of the lowest in Europe, inflation is also one of the lowest in Europe, and economic growth is one of the highest in Europe, we are preparing conditions for the coming quarters and years so that Polish entrepreneurs have greater opportunities to employ people – stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a briefing before the Chancellery of the Prime Minister. „PiS masterfully exploits tensions like these [as in the case of the LGBT Charter]. The unskillful presentation of demands [for same-sex couple adoption of children] and the awkwardness with which Deputy Mayor Rabiej does it, leads to… He is the Deputy Mayor of Warsaw, and Trzaskowski rightly told him: 'Dear Deputy Mayor, take care of the matters that fall under your purview in Warsaw'” - said the Vice-Chairman of Civic Platform (PO), Tomasz Siemoniak, during the morning program on Radio TOK FM. When Dominika Wielowieyska stated that Paweł Rabiej had made a mistake, he replied: „Of course”. 

- The minimum program was established at the beginning. Now, the details are being refined so that every entity within this European Coalition is guaranteed a segment that it cares about, plus the universal ones. The European Coalition is doing really well. There are individuals who will be top candidates. There are other individuals who are regional driving forces, and there is also a program that will meet the aspirations of Poles. The program will be presented. Today, I can speak about certain main assumptions that are still being refined, but generally, I must say that it is truly a great, complementary program that will showcase Poland's identity in the European Union. For us, as members of the Peasants' Party (ludowcy), two elements are important. The harmonization of subsidies for farmers. The second important thing from the PSL's perspective is the defense of European funds for local governments and increasing their share in the distribution of EU funds - said Piotr Zgorzelski in an interview with Jacek Prusinowski on "Sedno Sprawy" (The Heart of the Matter) on Radio Plus.

'These are individual personnel decisions that I do not wish to comment on. These are not my decisions' - stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a briefing before the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, when asked about Rafał Bochenek's nomination to PGNiG.

- This is his opinion. Can you find even two other instances where you can see this type of statement? No. After that interview with him, he told me this: "In the PSL, there's a time for discussion, then a time for decisions, and now it's a time for work. I said, it sounded rather awkward. Now we're all rowing in the same direction" – said Piotr Zgorzelski in a conversation with Jacek Prusinowski on Radio Plus's "Sedno Sprawy" (The Heart of the Matter).

- We have been trying for several months, through dialogue with trade unions, primarily teacher unions, to reach an agreement, a consensus. I would like to remind you that in 2014, 2015, and in the 2016 budget prepared by our predecessors, teacher salaries rose by 0% in the three years preceding our government. Where was Mr. Broniarz, the trade unions, at that time? Let's ask ourselves: where were they then? This increase was 0%. Meanwhile, in the last 18-20 months, if we also include 2017, this increase will exceed 17%. I am including here the raise that will be granted literally from September 1st, because it's a raise that the trade unions and teachers have already negotiated as an acceleration of the raise specifically for September 1st. So, if we combine these few raises, it is something that absolutely did not happen previously, in the preceding 3 years of our predecessors - stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a briefing before the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.

- I believe that teachers should earn more, and this is something we want to achieve through a series of increases in the coming years, in subsequent years. Each subsequent year should include such an increase. Not like in the years of Civic Platform and PSL, 2014 or 2015, where there were zero increases. That is why I am also strongly appealing, urging the trade unions to cool their emotions, and under no circumstances should emotional blackmail, which Chairman Broniarz allowed himself, where he threatened parents and students, occur. I absolutely do not want to speak in such language, no one should ever speak like that, and I cannot imagine such a thing happening. I believe that an agreement can be reached. Exams must take place because it is the students' right and students should not suffer. We will do everything to ensure that these exams take place. We also know that the vast majority of parents, young people, and children do not support any protest taking place during exams. I understand this difficult period very well, and we are trying to be accommodating. I can say that for the lowest-earning teachers, trainees, and contract teachers, we will try, as the minister has already announced, to secure further financial injections, let's call it that, additional funds, either for the start of the school year in September 2019/2020, or in another form; these are already negotiation details being discussed in these days and weeks - stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a briefing before the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.

- When we submitted the parliamentary club of the PSL's legislative proposals concerning changes in the justice system, the social factor, meaning the enhancement of the role of lay judges, was always very prominent in our approach. The justice of the peace is an institution that we would also gladly support, if we see a draft. We need to see its form, its scope, who can be this justice of the peace, and how they are selected. As a general principle, we are broadly in favour of making the justice system more public - stated Piotr Zgorzelski in an interview with Jacek Prusinowski on Radio Plus's "Sedno Sprawy". 

"One could say that [Sławomir Broniarz] is quite lenient, because Emperor Henry V the Salicant would tie children to siege engines. He has only announced that he will use them to fight for higher salaries" - said PiS minister Łukasz Schreiber on Radio Jedynka.

“PiS is trying to change the subject because they lack European concepts. In the European Parliament campaign, we should be debating changes in the European Union that are needed for citizens,” stated Radosław Sikorski in an interview with Marek Kacprzak on WP's program "Tłit". He added:

"I didn't know Jarosław Kaczyński had children. I remember from history that homosexuals were among the first prisoners of German concentration camps. It seems to me that Kaczyński is trying to repeat the pattern from previous parliamentary elections: find a weak group, scare society with them. Then it was refugees, now homosexuals. And ride to the election on that fear. A rather rotten political method."

Donald Tusk will arrive and sweep things clean. His term will end, he'll return and become President. I am convinced of this - stated Radosław Sikorski in an interview with Marek Kacprzak on WP's program "Tłit".

“TVP, public radio, in many of its activities, is simply becoming an armed wing of the ruling party. In a sense, the sum of 1 billion 260 million is a subsidy for PiS's propaganda activities. That is how we assess it. Today, the presidential spokesperson announced that the president wants to sign a bill that will inject enormous funds into Kurski's television. This is an outrageous situation, especially since so many social groups today need money for pay raises. We appeal, indeed demand, that President Andrzej Duda allocate these funds for teachers' pay raises. We are also counting on Agata Duda's sensitivity, who should advise the president on the importance of this money for pay raises. We demand that the president veto this absurd bill, which in our opinion squanders such vast sums of money” – said Mariusz Witczak from Civic Platform at a press conference in the Sejm.

“What we see every evening in the public media is the dissemination of hatred against successive social groups. Once against foreigners, today against people of different sexual orientation. The President of the Republic of Poland must stand guard over good and the constitution; he cannot stand guard over hatred. 1 billion 260 million is money that will be directly allocated to PiS's propaganda” – added Cezary Tomczyk.

As you know, 75% of Polish women and men do not vote in European Parliament elections. This means that 75% of Polish women and men give their voice to those who go and make decisions for all of us, on behalf of all of us, in European Parliament elections. And we, as Wiosna, want to change this. We want to have a spring of peoples on May 26th. We want to achieve a situation where we, Polish women and men, finally start co-deciding on what Poland's place in the EU will look like, but also what the EU will look like in the future. It cannot be the case that we send people there, half of whom cannot say boo or bah in any language to foreigners. It cannot be the case that we send people there who sleep in the meeting hall instead of working. It cannot be the case that the Polish delegation, besides being the oldest delegation in terms of age among all national delegations, is also one of the weakest in terms of diligence. We must change this. And Wiosna will change it. That is why today we are launching a pro-turnout campaign across Poland, "Let's Give Europe Wings." - stated Robert Biedroń at a press conference in Warsaw.

- I also wanted to announce that today Spring is launching its election campaign. We have registered the election committee Spring of Robert Biedroń. That is what we will be called. Under the name of this committee, we will soon register our lists. To do this, we need to register lists in at least 7 constituencies, and Spring will do it. We will collect over 100,000 signatures, at least in all cities across the country. We will be collecting signatures, and we are embarking on a grand tour with this food truck - stated Robert Biedroń at a press conference in Warsaw. Marcin Anaszewicz will be the head of the campaign staff. The presentation of the lead candidates for the European Parliament is scheduled for this Saturday.

"Patryk Jaki's name is on the United Right's list. I wonder what this political discussion will look like if it so far symbolizes violence, hate speech, when Deputy Minister Jaki's employee carries out a symbolic execution of politicians with whom he politically disagrees" - said PO MEP Róża Thun at a press conference in the Sejm. - "I have the impression that the people who carried out this symbolic execution, who sow hate speech, who incite evil, are protected. We filed a complaint with the prosecutor's office over a year ago".

- In politics, you need courage. If you want to go to Europe, you need to have European values and present matters clearly. We, as Wiosna, have this courage, and you know that we have even included marriage equality in our program and we will monitor this issue. If someone lacks courage, they shouldn't bother with Europe at all, because in Europe certain values are the standard. Of course, Kaczyński is deliberately heating up this atmosphere, but I ask the question: will the European Coalition not defend marriage equality in Europe? I would like to know what the EC's answer is to this important problem. Meaning, what, will they let go of marriage equality? How will the EC's parliamentarians vote on these matters in Brussels? So far, they haven't voted very liberally or equally, I think. I hope these declarations will be made, that we will finally get to know their program as well, because I don't know their program at all. Wiosna has a clear stance on these matters – stated Robert Biedroń at a press conference in Warsaw.

I believe Paweł Rabiej has nothing to apologize for. It is unfortunate that this is happening, because if they are European, they are European, not medieval. One must have a clear stance on this matter, not bury their head in the sand today. Kaczyński is playing on this because they are afraid, because they are terrified, because they tremble at any worldview issues. If one is European, they must be European from A to Z, not just partially – stated Robert Biedroń at a press conference in Warsaw.

President Andrzej Duda signed 5 laws today, including an amendment to the law on subscription fees - the Chancellery of the President announced. The law provides for so-called compensation for public media in the amount of PLN 1.26 billion.

- Things are moving in the right direction. Grzegorz Schetyna, while opinions on him may vary, has truly done something great, and for that, he should be praised and thanked. He brought about an agreement among significant pro-European, pro-democratic political forces. They are going with a single list to the European elections, and God willing, also to the parliamentary elections - said Bronisław Komorowski in an interview with Marcin Zaborski on RMF FM's "Afternoon Conversation."

- I see it quite differently. I have the impression that a large part of Polish faithful, members of the Church, also see it differently. They don't see a threat in this, but rather manipulation by Law and Justice - said Bronisław Komorowski in a conversation with Marcin Zaborski on RMF FM's “Popołudniowa rozmowa” (Afternoon Conversation).

- Have the bishops been manipulated by politicians from Law and Justice? - Zaborski pressed.

- I think it's not the first time, not the second time - the former president replied.

- What does this manipulation consist of? Where does it come from? It comes from the fact that PiS has always tried to reduce European problems, the problems of European integration, precisely to the dimension of moral, worldview, and ideological issues. In my opinion, the bishops are unnecessarily going in the same direction, because the European Parliament elections are approaching. I would rather advise one, the second, and the third side: one not to manipulate, the second not to be manipulated, and the third not to engage in discussions on LGBT topics when European Parliament elections are approaching, because it has nothing to do with the main European problems - Komorowski added. 

„We are aware that salaries in both schools and universities are too low. We have initiated the process of raising these salaries. This must continue. In the case of teachers, increases were granted in previous years. They will also be granted in September. For academic teachers, increases appeared from January this year” - said Deputy Prime Minister Jarosław Gowin in an interview with Dorota Gawryluk in “Wydarzenia i opinie” on Polsat News.

„Minister Zalewska will be the lead candidate for the European Parliament from the Lower Silesian-Opole constituency. This has been known for years. The Minister resigned from taking up her MEP mandate in 2015 precisely because her party nominated her for a very important section of the reform. The Minister did everything in her power to implement the PiS program” - said Deputy Prime Minister Jarosław Gowin in an interview with Dorota Gawryluk on "Wydarzenia i opinie" (Events and Opinions) on Polsat News.

„Realistically approaching the election results. The outcome of both is an open question. It depends on the maximum mobilization of us, United Right politicians, and our voters, who will win” - said Deputy Prime Minister Jarosław Gowin in an interview with Dorota Gawryluk on Polsat News's "Wydarzenia i opinie" (Events and Opinions).

I believe that the LGBT charter and President Trzaskowski's decision to take such a step, such an action, is very important from the perspective of respecting LGBT rights. I believe that other cities, just as Gdańsk has done, should follow this path in various contexts, including education and safety - said Adam Bodnar in an interview with Dorota Gawryluk on the program "Wydarzenia i Opinie" (Events and Opinions) on Polsat News.
