Sunday's Political Plan: Biedroń's Convention

At 2:00 PM at Warsaw's Towar, a convention inaugurating Robert Biedroń's new political project will commence, during which the group's name, faces, and a package of programmatic proposals will be presented. As we hear, among these are three important projects: a law on women's reproductive and sexual rights, an amendment to the Patient Rights and Patient Ombudsman Act, and an amendment to the Act on Combating Domestic Violence. At the convention – as we wrote – 14 project coordinators will be introduced.

After the convention, Biedroń will tour Poland – he plans meetings in 13 of the largest cities, with a briefing and a mini-convention featuring him and two deputy leaders in each city. Additionally, in each city, there will be a meeting with a different interest group. From February 4th to March 4th, as part of promoting the new party, Robert Biedroń aims to meet 20,000 people during open gatherings.

As 300POLITYKA learns, Biedroń will begin his campaign around March 5th, and in mid-March, he will announce the lead candidates for the European Parliament. There are many indications that Biedroń's spring party promotion campaign will precede his competitors' launch of the EU campaign – PO politicians mention April, and PiS has not yet revealed details. Biedroń will visit, among other cities, Łódź, Zielona Góra, Poznań, Katowice, Bydgoszcz, Kraków, Gdańsk, and Wrocław. – "The party promotion campaign will seamlessly transition into the EP campaign," our interlocutors emphasize.

Kierwiński on attack on Ogórek: Regardless of my negative assessment of hate speech on TVP and her actions, such behavior is unacceptable

- Regardless of my negative assessment of hate speech on TVP and what Magdalena Ogórek does, such behavior is unacceptable. Something like this is unacceptable. There must also be appropriate responses from services to such behavior - stated Marcin Kierwiński in Dariusz Ociepa's "Breakfast on Polsat News," referring to the attack on Magdalena Ogórek in front of the TVP headquarters.

11:05

Schreiber:

Ogórek Always Behaves with Class in the Studio

- This is an unfortunate situation. We are dealing with an attack on a journalist, a woman, in a shocking manner. It is unprecedented how hatred explodes among the attackers. Magdalena Ogórek always behaves with class in the studio. The fact that PO politicians don't go to TVP is their problem,” stated Łukasz Schreiber on Dariusz Ociepa's "Breakfast at Polsat News," referring to the attack on Magdalena Ogórek in front of the TVP headquarters.

- Generally, I condemned what happened, and you have to attack the Platform. We will not go to TVP because we will not give our consent to hate speech – replied Marcin Kierwiński.

11:06

Tyszka on the attack on Ogórek: I fear such incidents will become more frequent

- This is the result of the escalating war between two party tribes: Civic Platform and Law and Justice, which have been deliberately playing on negative emotions for over a dozen years, fueling hatred in society. I fear that such incidents will become more frequent - stated Stanisław Tyszka in Dariusz Ociepa's "Breakfast on Polsat News," referring to the attack on Magdalena Ogórek in front of the TVP headquarters.

11:13

Neumann on Kaczyński's Tapes: I See It as a Volcano Waking Up. The Lava Will Flow Later

- There are a few ways to describe these tapes [of Jarosław Kaczyński]. I see it as a volcano waking up. For now, we have an eruption of smoke and ash, and the lava will flow later. I am convinced of this. The lava will likely be subsequent information from these conversations and meetings at Nowogrodzka Street or other locations – stated Sławomir Neumann on TVN24’s “Kawa na ławę”.

11:22

Zgorzelski:

The Myth of the Impeccable Knights of the Good Change Has Shattered, Many Proved to Be Ordinary Deal-Makers

- It turns out that this exchange has taken place, and much more important than the exchange of people on a human, sociological level is respect for institutions, and here the institutions have been destroyed. I mean the Constitutional Tribunal, which is essentially a notary for the authorities, the National Council of the Judiciary, the Polish Financial Supervision Authority, where one of the most important institutions, within its walls, a business conversation is taking place. This shows how much the myth of those impeccable knights of the good change, who often turned out to be ordinary deal-makers, has shattered - stated Piotr Zgorzelski in 'Coffee on the Bench' on TVN24.

11:48

Neumann:

We're Not Finalizing Candidate Lists Personally Yet

- Today, we are not yet finalizing the candidate lists [for the European Parliament] personally. We are talking about building a broad coalition. Once we complete this process of building a broad coalition, we will then talk about individuals - stated Sławomir Neumann on TVN24's "Kawa na ławę," when asked if former prime ministers would run for the EP.

Inside Biedroń's Convention Preparations

Around 2:00 PM, the convention inaugurating Robert Biedroń will commence. These are the preparations underway, with the turnout, according to organizers, exceeding expectations.

14:50

Biedroń:

What is happening here, at Torwar, will change the face of this land
- Thank you for coming, for believing, for being here, for believing that change is possible. Most of all, thank you for bringing so much positive energy, that what is happening here, at Torwar, will change the face of this land. Thank you for being here – stated Robert Biedroń at the convention.

14:53

Biedroń:

We Must Fulfill Paweł Adamowicz's Testament

20 days ago, a great tragedy occurred in Gdańsk. For millions of us, the world stopped for a moment. A distinguished local government official, the President of Gdańsk, has passed away. He was someone who often wasn't afraid to go against the current, who dedicated his last years to building bridges and community. But as a former mayor and local government official, I know that Paweł Adamowicz's testament must be fulfilled. We must fulfill Paweł Adamowicz's testament. Because the values Paweł defended are our values, and these values, these dreams, have brought us here today, to Torwar, to Warsaw, to the center of our country, to our capital – stated Robert Biedroń at the convention.

14:54

Biedroń:

We No Longer Want the Polish-Polish War

- Our most important value is community. We no longer want the Polish-Polish war, we want mutual respect, dialogue, and that is why we are here today, so that everyone can hear us. We do not want the Polish-Polish war, we want dialogue, respect - stated Robert Biedroń at the convention.

14:56

Biedroń:

Let Spring Finally Come to This Cold Country

- The last few years have been cold and bleak. Instead of dialogue, we received constant conflict. Instead of the common good – party interests, instead of empathy – growing hostility. And finally, this will change. We need a spring that will renew this grim landscape. Let spring finally come to this cold country - stated Robert Biedroń at the convention.

14:58

Biedroń on the Frozen and Barricaded Sejm Building
Inside, I see, and you probably see too, a frozen, barricaded Sejm building. We have to change this, and we can change this. We know how to do it. Because if not us, then who? – stated Robert Biedroń at the convention.

15:02

Biedroń:

A Winter of the Century is Ongoing on Wiejska Street. But the Thaw is Coming, Change is on the Horizon

- The whole of Poland is with us here. Only one group is missing here today. Those from Wiejska Street. Those from Wiejska. Where a winter of the century is constantly ongoing, where MPs think the world has stopped in previous centuries. But they are not far away. Less than a kilometer from here. We are going there, but before we get there, they will learn that the thaw is coming, that change is on the horizon - stated Robert Biedroń at the convention.

15:03

Biedroń:

Poland is also equally beautiful and equally proud smaller and small towns
- We came here today to remind them that in the Constitution, which we defend and will always defend, we wrote in Article 1 that the Republic of Poland is the common good of all citizens. Without exception. We came here today to remind them that Poland is proud and beautiful metropolises, Wrocław, Warsaw, Łódź, or Poznań. And Kraków too. But Poland is also equally beautiful and equally proud smaller and small towns like Konin, Ostrołęka, Kalisz, Mielec, or Słupsk - stated Robert Biedroń at the convention. - We came here to remind them that Poland belongs to everyone, regardless of gender, age, creed, sexual orientation, or wallet size - he added.

15:06

Biedroń:

We Want to Build the Poland of Our Dreams Together, a Community

- For over a decade, two political parties have been trying to divide us into two hostile camps. Many times, I have been asked, just like you, whether I would join one side or the other. We have been told that, as in war, one must choose a front, one must fight for Poland without PO or without PiS. And we don't want war. We want to build the Poland of our dreams together, a community - stated Robert Biedroń at the convention.

15:09

Biedroń:

Poland is Treated by Politicians Like a Simple Cash Machine

- Although we are the ones who choose politicians, we have no control over them today. We don't know how it's possible that an ordinary MP can have a company turning over billions with which they build skyscrapers for themselves. In a democratic state, the heart of Europe, we don't know how much the assistant to the President of the National Bank of Poland earns, because politicians hide salaries from us, and a party membership card is a golden credit card today, and Poland is treated by politicians like a simple cash machine - stated Robert Biedroń at the convention.

15:24

Biedroń:

Neither Side Has Solved Our Problems, and the Conflict They Create is Their Biggest Fuel
For the last dozen or so years, we have faced a truly difficult choice. On one hand, we were offered politics of charts and economic indicators. It didn't matter if we earned a decent living, breathed clean air, or if our children attended good schools. Women's rights were unimportant, as women's and minority rights had to wait because there were always more important matters to attend to. Millions of people, millions of us, were left behind, and the authorities told us: change your job, take out a loan, go abroad. On the other hand, we were given a mockery of democracy, with the violation of the Constitution, the stripping of women's rights, a propaganda mouthpiece instead of public media, a politicized state administration instead of a professional civil service, and a Rydzyk at the throne instead of a secular state. Neither one nor the other side has solved our problems, and the conflict they create is their biggest and most important fuel. We are all tired of this war. We will not let them arrange Poland for us anymore. They have all failed us – stated Robert Biedroń at the convention.

15:27

Biedroń:

We Proved That Programs Don't Have to Be Created in a Political Party's Office
- We showed those from Wiejska something they didn't want to believe. We proved that programs don't have to be created in a political party's office or at Nowogrodzka, but can be created among Polish women and men. We proved this - stated Robert Biedroń at the convention.

15:28

Biedroń:

There is no more room for hate in Poland. The limits have been exhausted.
We believe and truly feel that today in Poland, and we had another example of this yesterday evening, we truly feel that there is no more room for hate in Poland. The limits have been exhausted - stated Robert Biedroń at the convention.

15:32

Biedroń:

'This is the Time, Our Time'

- We finally want to start voting for something, not against someone. They won't convince us that it's not time yet. That we need to remove these or those. This is the time, our time. The time of a new generation - stated Robert Biedroń at the convention.

- This is our time because we are about dialogue, and we are leaving quarrels behind. This is our time because we have worked for a long time in local governments, in non-governmental organizations. We run our own businesses, so we don't know about bringing people in briefcases. We, on the other hand, know Polish daily life very well - he added.

15:36

Biedroń:

Church and State Can Be Separated. We Did It in Słupsk, We'll Do It Across Poland Today.

- It is possible to talk to residents, not just before elections. It is possible to make public the salaries of officials, it is possible to give up the presidential limousine. It is possible to prioritize clean air and have the best air quality in the country. It is possible not to allow circuses with animals. It is possible to cooperate effectively with the EU and secure EU funds. It is possible to introduce IVF and reliable sex education. And finally, it is possible to separate church and state. We did it in Słupsk, and we will do it across Poland today – stated Robert Biedroń at the convention.

15:36

Biedroń:

We Will Also Amend the Law on Combating Domestic Violence

We will also amend the law on combating domestic violence. I know, also personally, how important this law is and how crucial the regulations needed here are. We will change it so that every Polish woman and every child can finally feel safe in our country. Not only in Poland, but also, and perhaps primarily, in their own homes. So that no woman, no child will have to flee their home anymore – said Robert Biedroń during a convention at the Torwar arena in Warsaw.

15:39

Biedroń:

The Individual, the Community, the State I Trust. These are the three foundations of our program.
The individual, the community, the state I trust. These are the three foundations of our program. The individual, because Poland is people who have been waiting in line for a doctor for years. That's why we will introduce a 30-day waiting limit for specialists. After this time, everyone will be able to choose a treatment location in the private sector, which will be paid for by the National Health Fund (NFZ) – stated Robert Biedroń at the convention.

15:40

Biedroń:

We Will Guarantee Equal Pay. So That Women and Men Earn the Same, in the Same Position

- At work, we will guarantee equal pay. So that women and men earn the same, in the same position. Finally. Because, unlike others, we side with women. Not just before elections or out of fear of political competition, but because we simply, in the most ordinary human way, believe in it - said Robert Biedroń during a convention at the Torwar hall in Warsaw.

15:40

Biedroń:

By 2035, We Will Close All Coal Mines

- I declare that by 2035, we will close all coal mines and have the cleanest air in our part of Europe - stated Robert Biedroń at the convention.

15:42

Biedroń Unveils Proposals for Animals and Nature

- We will establish an independent Office of the Nature Ombudsman. We will abolish fur farms. We will ban the use of animals in circuses. We will halt the thoughtless felling of trees that destroys our centuries-old heritage - stated Robert Biedroń at the convention.

15:44

Biedroń:

We Will Ensure a Place in Nurseries and Kindergartens for All Children. Within Five Years, We Will Create 250,000 Spots for Toddlers

- In Poland of Equal Opportunities, we will ensure a place in nurseries and kindergartens for all children. Within five years, we will create as many as 250,000 spots for toddlers. Nurseries and kindergartens should be a standard in our country, not a luxury - said Robert Biedroń during a convention at the Torwar hall in Warsaw.

15:45

Biedroń:

We Will Guarantee Women the Right to Safe, On-Demand Abortion up to the 12th Week

Poland is a woman. Her suffering, however, is our suffering. That is why we will end the hell for women and finally guarantee women the right to safe, on-demand abortion up to the 12th week. For now, however, Poland is a place where in some voivodeships, a gynecologist is as far as 50 kilometers away, and one specialist doctor serves as many as 27,000 patients. We will change this, we will change this so that every woman has access to essential medical care. It doesn't matter if she lives in Warsaw or Gorzów, Słupsk or a small village. Every woman must have access to European standards. We will also introduce these European standards into perinatal care. We will guarantee access to modern contraception, including finally access to the 'morning-after' pill. We will do something that all previous governments again lacked the courage to do. We will finally abolish the conscientious objection clause. We will focus on the family and its security. Therefore, we will introduce reliable sex education. We will guarantee anesthesia during childbirth and full funding for IVF – stated Robert Biedroń at the convention.

15:50

Biedroń:

We Will Change Schools to Be More Practical and Less Theoretical
We will also change schools, not through another administrative reform. We will change schools to be more practical and less theoretical, and the teaching profession will finally be decently paid. Working in a school must be a prestige, not eternal volunteering - said Robert Biedroń during the convention at Warsaw's Torwar hall.

15:55

Biedroń:

Free, Universal, No-Cost Internet for All of Poland
This civilizational leap will be complemented by free, universal, and therefore no-cost Internet across all of Poland. In this way, we will equalize opportunities so that no politician will ever again divide our country into Poland A and Poland B. Never again – said Robert Biedroń during a convention at Warsaw's Torwar.

15:59

Biedroń:

We Will Introduce Civil Partnerships and Statutory Marital Equality

- In our shared Poland, we will not tell anyone who they can marry and who they cannot. That is why we will boldly introduce civil partnerships, as well as statutory marital equality. Let everyone in Poland share in the happiness of love, not just the chosen few – said Robert Biedroń during the convention at Torwar in Warsaw.

16:01

Biedroń:

We Will Introduce a Tax-Free Minimum Pension of PLN 1600 for Everyone

- We will introduce a tax-free minimum pension of PLN 1600 for everyone. So that seniors can enjoy life, not fear tomorrow - said Robert Biedroń during a convention at Torwar in Warsaw.

16:11

Biedroń:

We Will Guarantee Public Transport as a Local Government Obligation, Funded by the State

- We will guarantee public transport as a local government obligation, funded by the state. So that there is a bus in every municipality, and a train finally reaches every district - said Robert Biedroń during a convention at Warsaw's Torwar.

16:16

Biedroń:

We Will Abolish the Church Fund and Tax Sunday Collections. We Will Remove Religion Classes from Schools and Their Funding. The culmination will be the renegotiation of the Concordat.

- We will abolish the Church Fund and tax Sunday collections. So that we are all equal, we will remove religion classes from schools and their funding. The culmination of this will be the renegotiation of the Concordat. We will do this boldly, we will do what politicians in Poland have lacked the courage to do since 1989. When we say we will not kneel before bishops, that is how it will be - said Robert Biedroń during a convention at Torwar in Warsaw.

16:24

Biedroń:

We Will Change the 500+ Program to Include the First Child and Single Parents

- We will change the 500+ program so that it also covers the first child and single parents. The program must cover all children, not just those fitting within official metrics – said Robert Biedroń during a convention at Warsaw's Torwar.

16:29

Biedroń:

We Will Introduce a Rule That the Minimum Wage Will Be 60% of the National Average. In 2022, PLN 3265

- We will introduce a rule that the minimum wage will be 60% of the national average. In 2020, we will raise the minimum wage to PLN 2700, and in 2022 to PLN 3265, and finally, it will be fair - said Robert Biedroń during a convention at Torwar in Warsaw.

16:33

Biedroń:

We Will Abolish Tax Audits As We Know Them. In Small Businesses, They Will Be Replaced by Online Verification

- We will abolish tax audits as we know them. In small businesses, they will be replaced by online verification. We will also simplify tax law. So that business owners do not have to constantly track amendments. All procedures will be handled online. Note, the symbol of this will be the absence of stamps by 2022 - said Robert Biedroń during a convention at Warsaw's Torwar.

16:37

Biedroń's Tour. Robert Biedroń, in promotion of his new party, will begin a tour of Poland the day after the convention, visiting 13 of the largest cities. Over the course of a month, the leader of the new formation is expected to meet with 20,000 people during open gatherings. "The party promotion campaign will smoothly transition into the European Parliament campaign," our sources emphasize. Trade Unionists at United Right Parliamentarians' Offices. On Monday, delegations from "Solidarity" will visit the offices of MPs and senators from the United Right. The trade unionists aim to present the union's demands to the ruling camp's parliamentarians, primarily concerning wage issues in the public sector, and to inform them about the consequences of not engaging in a partnership dialogue. On Tuesday, the National Protest and Strike Staff of NSZZ "Solidarity" will convene in Warsaw to decide on further protest actions. VAT Committee. On Tuesday at 12:00 PM, the VAT investigative committee will question Jacek Przypaśniak, former director of the Tax Control Office in Katowice. On Wednesday at 10:00 AM, the committee will question Andrzej Parafianowicz, former Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Finance, and on Thursday, also at 10:00 AM, Janusz Cichoń, former Secretary of State at the Ministry of Finance. SLD Conference. In the coming week, the Democratic Left Alliance (SLD) plans to respond to the invitation extended on Friday by former prime ministers and foreign ministers, effectively backed by Grzegorz Schetyna. We hear that a date has not yet been set, but it will certainly not be Monday. A formal decision will be made on February 16th, when the SLD convention will take place with delegates from across the country, who will vote on the formula for participating in the European Parliament elections and likely the minimum program. Candidates for Gdańsk Mayor. On Wednesday at midnight – according to the Prime Minister's electoral calendar – the deadline for submitting candidates for the Mayor of Gdańsk to the municipal election commission expires. In practice, it is already known – the deadline for registering committees passed at the end of January – that eight individuals have expressed their intention. In the coming week, it will become clear how many committees managed to gather the minimum of 3,000 signatures. Farmers' Protest. "Today, we organized around 30 demonstrations across Poland, and a large farmers' demonstration will take place on February 6th in Warsaw," said Michał Kołodziejczak, founder of AGROunia, at a press conference in front of the Presidential Palace at the end of January. "We are protesting because trade in Poland is very poorly organized, and family farms, which form the basis of food production in our country, are losing out because of this," Kołodziejczak stated. February 6th falls on the upcoming Wednesday. PAD's Plan. On Tuesday at 10:00 AM, President Andrzej Duda will participate in a thanksgiving Holy Mass celebrating the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Military Ordinariate in Poland. Also on Tuesday, at 12:00 PM in the Presidential Palace, on the eve of the 30th anniversary of the inauguration of the Round Table talks, an Oxford-style debate with youth participation will be held. Additionally, a meeting between the President and media representatives is planned for this week. Bratislava Summit. On Thursday, a summit of the Visegrád Group and the German Chancellor will be held in Bratislava, according to information on the Prime Minister's Chancellery website. 19:44

Biedroń:

I want to be and will be Prime Minister. This autumn. That's why I'm running for parliament.

- I want to be and will be Prime Minister. But to be Prime Minister, I need to tell this story to Polish women and men. This autumn [I will be Prime Minister]. That's why I'm running for parliament. Spring will be ours and autumn will be ours - stated Robert Biedroń in an interview with Diana Rudnik on TVN24's "Fakty po faktach".

19:47

Biedroń:

This isn't the European Coalition. It's a Platform coalition. It's people who want to talk about seats.
This isn't the European Coalition. It's a Platform coalition. Let's not call it that. It's people who want to talk about seats. I dream that we would go a little further and start talking about what we've devoted a lot of attention to today, in this program. About the program, about what's next – stated Robert Biedroń in an interview with Diana Rudnik on TVN24's "Fakty po faktach" (Facts after Facts), when asked about Spring's chances of participating in the European Coalition.

19:52

Biedroń on the European Coalition: How Much Authenticity Is There? Which Faction Will They Join in the European Parliament? The Socialists or Orban's Conservatives?

- I have a feeling, I sense a certain falsehood in all of this. A few gentlemen from different options have stood together. Prime Minister Marcinkiewicz from PiS, Prime Minister Kopacz from Civic Platform, and my colleagues from the Democratic Left Alliance, and previously from the Polish United Workers' Party. How much authenticity is there? Which faction will they join in the European Parliament? The socialists or Orban's conservatives? Because today, Civic Platform is with Orban in the European Parliament. To be clear: I'm keeping my fingers crossed because I believe Civic Platform is also needed in the Polish parliament. But a progressive force is also needed, one that will give courage to Schetyna, Kopacz, all those people who until now have been afraid to implement these changes, so that something finally changes in Poland, and I will be that booster, that energizer, who will change the face of Poland – stated Robert Biedroń in an interview with Diana Rudnik on TVN24's "Fakty po faktach".
