A vigil for Paweł Adamowicz will be held again at 6:00 PM in front of the Gdańsk City Hall. The demonstration is intended to echo yesterday's event, during which thousands of Gdańsk residents paid tribute to their mayor in front of Neptune's Fountain.

At 10:00 AM in Warsaw, ministers will gather for a government session. The agenda includes three points concerning atomic law, animal husbandry, and a supplementary parental benefit.

At 11:00 AM in the Sejm, a press conference will be held by Janusz Korwin-Mikke, Jakub Kulesza, and Jacek Wilk. As announced by the organizers, the discussion will focus on "the issue of the death penalty for murderers, which, following the tragic attack on the late President Adamowicz, is once again igniting public opinion."

- He was a dear friend, a friend for several decades, going back to the 1980s when Paweł, along with his older brother who had a great influence on him, fought for a free Poland, for democracy, while studying at the University of Gdańsk. I was working at the Technical University then and was also involved in some way in opposition activities. We were connected to Gdańsk movements, the Young Poland Movement, and the liberals, and these circles have been intertwined ever since. We met. And the loss of a great friend, which is only now sinking in, is nothing compared to the loss suffered by his wife, parents, or children. It's truly a great loss - stated the Mayor of Sopot, Jacek Karnowski, in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Piasecki's Conversation."

- He was a man tempered by those 1980s struggles, in tough battles, and for 12 years he was hounded, persecuted, and also pursued, yet he remained very joyful and a strong testament to the fact that even opponents must be respected. He wasn't a man who harbored any great resentment towards anyone. He could testify that others must be respected, that political and social life involves not only being close to people but also showing respect for others, even when you think differently about them - he added.

- Paweł was simply always with the people. That was the true nature of a local government official. He was perhaps even more open than other local government officials. He tried to be with those people and was always open. If someone is considering whether security was present or not, then no, that's a completely wrong track, because he would go into the most difficult places and never feared it. He was never afraid to be on public transport, simply to be directly with people – stated the Mayor of Sopot, Jacek Karnowski, in a conversation with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

Paweł had no problem meeting or calling a political opponent, and people were surprised. We have simply been divided into two warring tribes, and perhaps someone misinterpreted it, the murderer simply misinterpreted it in this way - stated the Mayor of Sopot, Jacek Karnowski, in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego" program.

- This is a dramatic, tragic event that took place in Gdańsk. Based on media reports and the information we have, it did not have an ideological or party-political background. It was a murder – as the President stated yesterday – of a representative of authority, of a public figure performing their duties. President Adamowicz died while fulfilling his function. He was a representative of public authority. The man who murdered him wanted revenge for his alleged grievances against the authorities. Indeed, it was a murder of a politician, but it was not a political murder - stated Krzysztof Szczerski in an interview with Beata Michniewicz on "Trójka Political Salon."

- The President [Duda] will consistently abide by and appeal for adherence to the family's request to keep politics and ideology out of this matter, and not to exploit this death for their own political and ideological purposes - stated Krzysztof Szczerski in an interview with Beata Michniewicz on "Trójka Political Salon".

"It was certainly inspired by hatred for politics. We heard what the killer was shouting. He wasn't saying he disliked Mr. Adamowicz because he disliked him, but he accused our entire formation of his life going in that direction. Politics certainly existed in the murderer's decision. “Today I received a call from the Head of the Prime Minister's Chancellery, Minister Dworczyk. I also spoke with Governor Dariusz Drelich, who offered me the position of commissioner. - Unfortunately, I did not know Paweł Adamowicz well. However, in places where all sorts of concerts or demonstrations take place, security services should indeed ensure safety, but 100% security cannot be guaranteed for the city's host who wants to be close to citizens. I have always felt and continue to feel safe in Warsaw, but Paweł Adamowicz also felt safe in Gdańsk - stated Rafał Trzaskowski in an interview with Jakub Bierzyński on the program "Bierzyński na żywca” on WP.pl.

„I think we should all talk about language, regardless of our profession, because this language leads to nothing good. It concerns everyone; let's not stigmatize anyone as being better or worse. Everyone, not only in the PSL, but all Poles are still shocked, despairing, and deeply affected by what happened in Gdańsk. We are processing the death of the late President Paweł Adamowicz in various ways. Yesterday was a day of silence and prayer, as "Tygodnik Powszechny" rightly wrote. This was the case in many places in Poland - stated Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz at a briefing in the Sejm. He added:

"Moved by this tragedy, Poles, a man who died in service, took to the streets not against anyone, but as a gesture of solidarity, brotherhood, unity, thought, and prayer. We were in various places. I was in Krakow at Mass, then in the main square. We were in many places in Poland. Candles were lit, memorial lights, flags were present, we were together. We hoped that on such a day, when many of our compatriots turn to the mass media, watch news broadcasts, this atmosphere of experiencing grief with dignity, this is national mourning even without its declaration, would be preserved in all radio stations, television channels, all media, and especially in public media. However, this did not happen. Since yesterday's "Wiadomości" broadcast, we have been receiving numerous calls, signals, SMS messages, and conversations from our indignant compatriots regarding this matter. How this issue was presented on TVP. How that edition of "Wiadomości" was conducted, what material was prepared, which, instead of uniting, is again dividing Poles. Yesterday, and today too, we needed to experience this mourning, not to inflame it. This material crossed all permissible boundaries of decency. It is devoid of decency. We cannot agree to such a thing. Our compatriots who write to us about it do not agree either."

- Therefore, a moment ago I turned to President Kaczyński, we do this rarely, but this is a moment when I turned to President Kaczyński, the PiS leader, former Prime Minister, to cause changes at TVP, to cause the departure of TVP president Jacek Kurski. For a change in language, for the explanation of reality, for the presentation of all views on TVP, for the presentation of various stances, for uniting Poles, for experiencing mourning with dignity - informed the PSL leader. - We know very well that only President Kaczyński can change this. This is the moment when he should do it. I am asking President Kaczyński for this. I am simply asking, because it is in the interest of all of us. Not of political parties, but it is in the interest of Poland - he added.

„For decades, Gdańsk was Paweł Adamowicz's city. He was the face of Gdańsk, the architect of its flourishing, and one of the more interesting local government figures. Often rebellious, often a bit outside of political life, but with one credo – Gdańsk is the most important thing,” said Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz in an interview with Jan Wróbel on Radio TOK FM's morning program.

"Our public life has been exceptionally safe until now. No one has erected barriers. Local government officials, mayors do not go around with personal security, police escorts. This is one of the signs of social peace in any society, that situations do not arise where every public official needs to be guarded as if they were a minister for counter-terrorism" - said Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz in an interview with Jan Wróbel on the morning program of Radio TOK FM.

"The truth is that a political murder was committed in Poland. The sitting president, while performing his official duties, was simply murdered for political reasons, which was shouted from the stage. Whether this person was disturbed or not is of no consequence" - stated Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz in an interview with Jan Wróbel on Radio TOK FM's morning show.

The latest schedule for this week's Sejm session indicates that PiS intends to push through parliament within three days a bill concerning compensation for public media (PLN 1.26 billion), which we wrote about last week on 300POLITYCE. The first reading is scheduled for tomorrow at 6:00 PM, and the second reading is set for the following day, Thursday, at 4:00 PM. Consequently, the bill will likely be adopted during Friday's morning session, with the Senate taking it up next week.

According to the opinion of the Bureau of Analysis of the Sejm (BAS), which reviewed it as urgent, the bill could be considered a state aid plan subject to notification by the European Commission. Tomorrow, the Sejm will also vote - from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM - on the budget bill for this year.

- My husband and my friends are my private security, but I hope that the state will rise to the occasion. I have served Poland for 30 years of free Poland, 25 years in total. I think I have the right to be granted protection for some time - stated the former Mayor of Warsaw.

- I don't believe that the person who committed this act, this murder, has been sitting in prison for the last five years, has been an active participant in the debates that were taking place, or has actively followed these sharp, often too sharp, political debates. I think this person, the investigators will of course determine this, committed this murder for unknown reasons. All of this will probably be explained. One thing is certain: he was aware of whom he stabbed with a knife or whom he intended to kill. President Adamowicz was not a random target, if I may say so, perhaps awkwardly. But if I consider the moment when I said that it was terrible that a effigy of a Jew was burned in Wrocław. Then there was the issue of portraits of MEPs being hung up. Then - the obituaries of eleven presidents. Well, I would say, a slight shiver runs down my spine - stated Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz in an interview with Justyna Dobrosz-Oracz on Wyborcza.pl.
