-- BOTTLE DEPOSITS ARE DRIVING CUSTOMERS MAD - on the front page of Gazeta Pomorska.
-- A CIRCUS, NOT A STRONG STATE - on the front page of Fakt: "Receipts for Braun are stuck at the post office, Mejza still has his driver's license! People, where are we living!".
-- ONLY 15 PERCENT OF POLES WOULD VOTE FOR POLEXIT IF A REFERENDUM ON LEAVING THE EUROPEAN UNION WERE HELD TODAY - ACCORDING TO AN OPINIA24 SURVEY FOR GW.
-- ONLY 8 PERCENT BELIEVE IN SECURITY GUARANTEES SOLELY FROM THE EU: "The survey indicates, however, that Poles want the state's security to be based on two pillars – European and transatlantic. As many as 41 percent of respondents believe that membership in both the European Union and NATO secures us. 25 percent of respondents believe in security guarantees solely from the North Atlantic Alliance, and only 8 percent solely from the EU."

-- CIENKOWSKA STILL BELIEVES SOMEONE IS COPYING WORKS WITH SMARTPHONES - IN AN INTERVIEW WITH RZ: "We have decided to stop yielding to the lobbying of large foreign corporations and manufacturers of electronic equipment used to play and copy works by Polish artists who do not receive adequate compensation for it. Only now is Poland fulfilling its commitments and EU law standards. We are implementing this update to the current law as the last country in the Union; our government has done it as quickly as possible."
-- CIENKOWSKA SAYS ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT WILL NOT BECOME MORE EXPENSIVE, BUT PLN 200 MILLION WILL APPEAR FROM A SMARTPHONE TAX FOR ARTIST ORGANIZATIONS, WHICH ARE TO BE TRANSPARENT, PERHAPS JUST LIKE ZAIKS OR SFP ARE TRANSPARENT: "In my opinion, we can expect more – up to PLN 180, maybe even 200 million. However, one thing must be remembered, and by the way, let's debunk another fake: this money does not go into the state budget, but to collective management organizations (OZZ), meaning, in effect, to artists. We worked on changing the regulation calmly also because, along with signing the amendment, we announced a change to the law on collective management of copyright and related rights organizations. We want the distribution of funds obtained from reprography for artists to be as transparent as possible."

-- 65.37 PERCENT OF RESPONDENTS DECLARE PARTICIPATION IN THE REFERENDUM, AND 34.63 PERCENT ANNOUNCE THEY WILL NOT GO TO THE POLLS - ACCORDING TO A SURVEY BY OGÓLNOPOLSKA GRUPA BADAWCZA (NATIONAL RESEARCH GROUP) CONDUCTED IN APRIL 2026: "In the entire survey, 65.37 percent of respondents declare participation in the referendum, and 34.63 percent announce they will not go to the polls. Among those declaring participation, as many as 88.01 percent plan to vote for the recall of the president, and 11.99 percent against."
-- 55.47 PERCENT OF RESPONDENTS RATE ALEKSANDER MISZALSKI'S ACTIONS NEGATIVELY IN THE OGB SURVEY: "In the survey, 55.47 percent of respondents rate Aleksander Miszalski's actions negatively – including 32.82 percent 'very badly' and 22.65 percent 'rather badly'. A positive assessment is expressed by 20.45 percent of respondents – 6.76 percent indicate the answer 'very well', and 13.69 percent 'rather well'. The rest choose a neutral answer or have no opinion."
-- 57.99 PERCENT OF RESPONDENTS BELIEVE KRAKOW IS HEADING IN THE WRONG DIRECTION - PULSKRAKOWA FURTHER ON THE OGB SURVEY: "Across the entire city, 57.99 percent of respondents believe that Krakow is heading in the wrong direction – this includes the answers 'definitely in the wrong direction' and 'rather in the wrong direction'. A positive assessment of the city's development direction is expressed by 21.67 percent of respondents, and the rest have no clear opinion."

-- KRAKOW'S MAYOR WILL NOT PARTICIPATE IN THE PRIDE PARADE FOR FEAR OF LOSING THE REFERENDUM - WOJCIECH MUCHA: "I'm not going to the referendum" - under this slogan, Krakow residents are being persuaded not to participate in the plebiscite to recall the city's mayor, Aleksander Miszalski, scheduled for May 24. Although this tactic has proven successful in many Polish cities, there are strong indications that under Wawel, the most significant 'non-attendance' will be Miszalski's absence from the Pride Parade planned for the day before the referendum. This is fundamentally a very amusing situation, showcasing the hypocrisy of the authorities. However, to understand the "wisdom of the stage" that caused Miszalski to hide his rainbow sympathies in a storage compartment at the Krakow City Hall, one must recall his behavior immediately after the 2024 local government elections. Miszalski recently supported the Equality March. At that time, the decision to participate in the LGBT+ community parade and the flying of the rainbow flag from the window of the Wielopolski Palace, the seat of the Mayor of Krakow, were presented – as reported in liberal media – as Miszalski's "first strong decisions." It was announced that after years of a presidency under Professor Jacek Majchrowski that was ambivalent towards leftist trends, Krakow would finally catch up with modernity and, like European capitals, become a "truly open city" to all novelties, including ideological ones."

-- THE ANTI-PiS TRUTH OF TAKING POWER FROM PiS, THE TRUTH OF REPAIRING THE STATE HAS ENDED, THIS MOMENTUM HAS ENDED, THE GOVERNMENT IS LOOKING FOR NEW MOMENTUM, I HAVE THE IMPRESSION THAT IT HAS NOT FOUND IT YET - MARIUSZ JANICKI IN AN INTERVIEW WITH KAROLINA LEWICKA ON THE TYGODNIK POLITYKA PODCAST: "Indeed, when I talk to people, they have the impression that a term and a half has already passed, not, not, not just over half, right? I think this is also because this term was brutally interrupted by the presidential elections. Indeed, the wave, a rising one from 2023, was completely interrupted in 2025. And in this sense, the term has, in a way, ended. A certain legend, right, the anti-PiS truth of taking power from PiS, the truth of repairing the state, has ended, this momentum has ended. The government is looking for new momentum, I have the impression that it has not found it yet, and perhaps will not find it by the end of the term. Especially since the second rule we are talking about here is that all important things are done in the first half of the term, right? And the second is rather looking for campaign topics. And here again, during this first half of the term, everyone was waiting for the presidential elections, for the right candidate to win. That is, the candidate of the ruling camp. Well, and all these postponed matters would be settled instantly. Following the political catastrophe that occurred for the ruling camp, i.e., the loss of the presidential elections, this momentum will also end. Well, and the question is, what next?"
-- OF COURSE, THERE ARE WORKAROUNDS, SO OFTEN, ESPECIALLY THE CIVIC COALITION TALKS ABOUT THESE B-PLANS, BUT IN REALITY, THERE IS NO B-PLAN - FURTHERMORE, THE FIRST DEPUTY EDITOR-IN-CHIEF OF TYGODNIK POLITYKA IN CONVERSATION WITH LEWICKA: "This is a significant dilemma, especially since there is a visible fatigue now with the impossibility of change, that practically nothing can be done. Meaning, all major changes are impossible. Of course, there are workarounds, so often, especially the Civic Coalition talks about these B-plans of the minister, but in reality, there is no B-plan. B-plans are only possible with police assistance. When we talk about the judiciary, it's only if the police come and do something, escort someone out of the Supreme Court or the Constitutional Tribunal, or order, introduce these new judges, open their offices, and only then. But this government doesn't want to go for such a solution either. It doesn't want to have grounds for an election campaign. A film like escorting a judge, forcefully introducing a judge. It looks bad. No matter the reasons behind it, it looks bad."
-- IF I WERE TO BET ANY LARGE SUMS TODAY, UNDER DURESS, I WOULD PROBABLY BET ON THE RIGHT'S VICTORY - FURTHERMORE, MARIUSZ JANICKI, FIRST DEPUTY EDITOR-IN-CHIEF OF TYGODNIK POLITYKA: "Well, because waiting for the fact that Platforma, together with the Left, without the other two parties, will defeat the entire right wing, well, that's simply everything on the edge, on the knife's edge. And rather, if I were to bet any large sums today, under duress, I would bet on the right's victory, because I am speaking today, of course, because, well, that's the current arrangement, that's the poll situation, which also causes two, two of the ruling parties to be below the threshold, so this parliamentary arrangement is also a historical arrangement."
-- BECAUSE THERE IS A SO-CALLED DRAW, I CALL IT A FALSE DRAW, AS I HAVE ALREADY SAID. THEREFORE, NOTHING VIOLENT SHOULD BE DONE, NO VIOLENT MOVES, BECAUSE EVEN THIS DRAW CAN BE LOST, RIGHT? - JANICKI STILL WITH LEWICKA: "And if I observe such a phenomenon, that because there is a so-called draw, I call it a false draw, as I have already said. Therefore, nothing violent should be done, no violent moves, because even this draw can be lost, right? Prime Minister Tusk is known for being afraid of some far-reaching, risky projects? In some sense, yes. I also wrote once that he still thinks he has the trauma of the pension reform, he doesn't want, he doesn't want this type of large projects, especially social ones, because society is divided on everything."
-- IT SEEMS THAT THE CIVIC COALITION, IF IT WANTS TO THINK ABOUT MAINTAINING POWER IN SOME ARRANGEMENT, THEN DESPITE THE FACT THAT IT IS THE SECOND HALF OF THE TERM, WHEN NOTHING IS DONE THEORETICALLY, IT SHOULD STILL MAKE AN EFFORT FOR SOME NEW, MASSIVE POLITICAL AND SOCIAL MOVEMENT - CLAIMS MARIUSZ JANICKI: "A certain kind of stagnation, one might say. And it seems that the Civic Coalition, if it wants to think about maintaining power in some arrangement, then despite the fact that it is the second half of the term, when theoretically nothing is done, it should still make an effort for some new, massive political and social movement, some demonstration of a hallmark of its government, right? What could not be done in the first half of the term, because they didn't want to, because they didn't know how, and so on, and so on, it seems inevitable that they must do it now. And not only, as you yourself have written, not only in the area of security, right? You can't go to the end with that. I follow Prime Minister Tusk's posts on X, and practically all of them are dedicated to either international affairs, security matters, or some scandals related to PiS, right?"
-- TUSK MUST GET CLOSER TO SOCIAL ISSUES, RESPOND TO SOCIAL FEARS, FOR EXAMPLE, HEALTHCARE ISSUES, I THINK THE CALL WOULD BE MUCH MORE CREDIBLE IF THERE WAS A REASON FOR THIS FIGHT - FURTHERMORE, MARIUSZ JANICKI IN CONVERSATION WITH KAROLINA LEWICKA: "So, a radical change must occur in this matter. Tusk must get closer to social issues, respond to social fears, for example, healthcare issues, and so on. Not to underestimate this and to present some major project that will be associated with this government. I think the call would be much more credible if there was a reason for this fight. That is, if a project were presented."

-- IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE POLISH BBC, INSTEAD IT'S A JOKE, AND NOT A FUNNY ONE - ESTERA FLIEGER IN RZ: "Democracy, constitution, free media. Unless not. Censorship in public media under Donald Tusk's government? I am in shock, are you also in shock? Add to this the series "Proxy War": Lt. Col. Marcin Faliński explained in an interview with Marek Kozubal in "Rzeczpospolita" that the TVP production is spreading disinformation. The fact that for over 2 years of the ruling coalition, they have failed to repair public television, which should be a strategic state asset, is its greatest failure. It was supposed to be Polish BBC, instead, it's a joke, and not a funny one."
-- YOU ARE SIMPLY MAKING WEAK PUBLIC TELEVISION. IN THAT CASE, I PREFER STUDIO YAYO, BECAUSE ITS CREATORS AT LEAST DIDN'T PRETEND TO BE ANYTHING ELSE - FURTHERMORE, FLIEGER: "It's not about any imponderables, but about poor satire. You are simply making weak public television. In that case, I prefer Studio YaYo, because its creators at least didn't pretend to be anything else."
