STATE OF PLAY: Zaremba: Will Poles fear the growing rift between PiS and the EU? Ziobro emerges as the most consistent candidate to succeed Kaczyński, Kaczyszczyn: May Morawiecki win, Sutowski: Lichocka shifts gears

-- ANDRZEJ DUDA ANNOUNCES THE START OF DUDABUS AND WITH AGATA DUDA ON STAGE: LONG LIVE POLAND THE PRIME MINISTER ON THE FACT THAT THE PRESIDENT WOULD NOT ACHIEVE EVEN 10% OF WHAT DUDA ACHIEVED UNDER THE CHANDELIER CIVIC PLATFORM CALLS FOR A VETO OF THE TVP LAW AT THE EXPENSE OF ONCOLOGY FROM THE MORNING https://300polityka.pl/live/2020/02/15/ -- PRIME MINISTER HANNA SUCHOCKA ON INCREASING THE CHURCH'S TRANSPARENCY AND INCREASING THE RESPONSIBILITY OF LOCAL CHURCHES FOR THE PROTECTION OF MINORS AND VULNERABLE ADULTS - states in Przewodnik Katolicki: “The task of this commission is not to deal with the individual cases of victims (this commission is not a court or a prosecutor's office). It is, however, among other things, to propose initiatives to the Pope aimed at increasing the responsibility of local Churches for the protection of all minors and vulnerable adults. In the same year, I was appointed to this commission, and Pope Francis confirmed my presence in it again in 2018, when the term of its first tenure expired. I would only add that the commission operates in several groups. And it was the legal group, to which I belong and which I chaired during the first term, that noted that individuals participating in the canonical process related to offenses against the sixth commandment have very limited access to information. Therefore, during our work, the need to submit an appropriate proposal for changes to Pope Francis in this very area quickly arose.” -- PRIME MINISTER SUCHOCKA ON ELIMINATING PROCESSES THAT GENERATED ACCUSATIONS OF LACK OF COOPERATION BETWEEN CHURCH AND SECULAR AUTHORITIES: “The right to information is also the right to defense. So we wondered what we could propose to make information about canonical proceedings more accessible. We were, of course, aware that changing the Code of Canon Law would take a long time. That's why we looked for other ways. One of the key issues in the context of access to information turned out to be the pontifical secret. Until now, the canonical process was covered by the pontifical secret. And what does this mean in practice? Above all, that external authorities cannot be informed about the course of the proceedings. So, if a proceeding is taking place in a secular court, it cannot be informed about the work on the canonical process. But persons participating in this process also cannot be informed. This led to tensions and accusations of a lack of cooperation between church and secular authorities.” https://www.przewodnik-katolicki.pl/Archiwum/2020/Przewodnik-Katolicki-7-2020/Temat-numeru/Kosciol-chce-dzialac-przejrzyscie -- CAMPAIGN OF TIRED CANDIDATES WITHOUT A NEW MESSAGE - PIOTR ZAREMBA IN RZ: “Tiredness also among the politicians themselves. It will probably have neither a significant new message nor any programmatic elements that we will remember. This fatigue produces a reflex: ‘more of the same’. A self-destructive, unpleasant, but the only possible reflex. At the same time, it is a crucial campaign, a last chance for both sides. Equipped with a veto, the right to jointly manage referendums with the Senate, and even, in certain situations, the possibility of dissolving parliament, an opposition president can completely paralyze the ruling camp. Even an attempt to purely administer within the framework of existing laws is a rather illusory prospect for the United Right. For example, without the president's participation, PiS will not complete its judicial reform. The head of state is the last 'instance' in judicial personnel policy. Thus, some are desperately defending their survival, while others are fighting to overturn the table. All this using pure, blind emotions, when words and ideas for anything constructive are lacking.” -- OPPOSITION SUPPORTERS REMINISCENT OF THE FIERY SUPPORTERS OF THE RIGHT, WITH THEIR OWN MEDIA BEHIND THEM: “Opposition supporters are eerily reminiscent of the most fervent right-wing supporters, who, a year or two after Smolensk, when warned that they were jeopardizing their chances in subsequent paroxysms of powerless rage, always responded with a litany of their grievances and accusations against the Civic Platform camp for seeking to establish a monopoly. This is happening despite the fact that this opposition is stronger than the PiS supporters who were then marginalized. They have, in total, almost half of Poles behind them, their own media, strong support in many influential circles, and finally, the support of EU institutions. If we assume that a coup d'état is taking place in Poland, we should not really be outraged by the whistling at President Duda during state ceremonies.” -- HE DOESN'T STRIVE FOR HIS OWN AGENDA, HE DEFENDS ACHIEVEMENTS - ZAREMBA CONTINUES: “President Andrzej Duda's campaign idea is built on one thing: defending the achievements of his camp's over four years in power. He doesn't really strive for his own agenda and probably won't. In addition, he has entered into a risky strategy of marching at the head of supporters of a radical judicial reform. It is possible that there is a rational calculation behind this to win over the electorate of Confederation in the second round, who are unwilling to deal with judges, let alone European officials intervening on their behalf. But the passionately partisan tone of the anti-judge campaign may also alienate or frighten many Poles. Those in power should offer the nation peace and stability. The PiS politicians offer the distorted face of an eternal revolutionary. They have managed to convince the president of this. In 2017, he tried to be a corrector of the revolution, and thus, in a way, a mediator. Today, nothing of that remains. Reminding in the opposition media how Andrzej Duda scolded Bronisław Komorowski in 2015 for passivity and lack of independence is justified.” -- ZIOBRO IS EMERGING AS THE MOST CONSISTENT CANDIDATE TO SUCCEED KACZYŃSKI - ZAREMBA CONTINUES: “Another question that the ruling right must ask itself is whether paroxysms of revolution without funds for further social transfers are the best recipe for parliamentary victory in 2023. 'No,' Jarosław Gowin seems to answer, although he lacks the courage to enforce his position on the PiS leadership. It is doubtful that we will see any clear signal now, even at the United Right's electoral convention called for Saturday. For now, there is a demand for purely campaign, unifying clamor. But one cannot fail to notice that amidst this clamor, Ziobro is emerging as the most consistent candidate to succeed Kaczyński. And he does not feel geopolitical concerns. However, two things are certain. Firstly, President Andrzej Duda has largely resigned from participating in this underlying debate. He is now more of a banner than a real player. Perhaps incapable in his second term of setting goals or even correcting anything. Secondly, this campaign will ultimately bring about the final alignment of politicians. They will emerge from it incapable of any maneuver other than mechanically beating the opponent.” https://www.rp.pl/Plus-Minus/302149995-Wybory-prezydenckie-2020-Kampania-zmeczonych-kandydatow.html -- GW ON CIVIC PLATFORM WITHOUT SCHETYNA - as written by Agnieszka Kublik and Iwona Szpala: “The behind-the-scenes details emerged after the last Sejm election defeat. Stories began to circulate about meetings at Schetyna's in the PO headquarters on Wiejska Street on the 5th floor. About a room filled with cigar smoke, about conversations over wine. And guests: General Secretary Robert Tyszkiewicz, confidant Piotr Borys, and Treasurer Mariusz Witczak. The latter easily overruled the decisions of the nominal campaign manager, Krzysztof Brejza – it was said in the PO. And when the fight for the leadership after the chairman began in the Platform, the burning question for the candidates was: 'What about Schetyna's trio now?' If a candidate did not show enthusiasm in assuring that Witczak, Tyszkiewicz, and Borys were a thing of the past, the room was dissatisfied. – When Budka took power in the party, it became clear that Schetyna's reign would truly end when this trio was cut off – we hear from a PO politician. Budka fulfilled his promise. – They are erased – says another MP about his colleagues. – They have no influence on any decisions.” -- GW ON NOWAK'S DILIGENCE: “During Tusk's winning campaigns, he worked tirelessly. In the PO, they still remember this with a tear. After the last campaign, the story circulated among Brejza's staff about how Nowak had a camp bed installed in the room where he worked. PO politicians say that if the presidential campaign is successful, Budka might bring Nowak back into the political arena. We ask Nowak about his strategy. – It's an exaggeration that I'm involved in strategy, I'm just helping, sorting out some things, I'm not commenting on anything – he cuts short.” -- GW AUTHORS ON THE PLATFORM'S ASTONISHMENT AT PiS'S HARSH COURSE: “The greatest surprise is PiS's strategy in an election year. The recent brutal attack on the courts, Ziobro's announcements that they will not deviate from their course, and the lack of a good response to opposition criticism. – According to CBOS polls, public sentiment is declining. People may be tired of the court issue, but they feel that there is increasing chaos and bickering in the country. PiS might lose with this sentiment. Of course, PiS should not be underestimated in any way, because although it is in a crisis now, it has often shown that it can bounce back – assesses a PO politician.” -- THERE IS A SECOND WIND, FAITH HAS RETURNED - ANONYMOUS PO POLITICIAN IN A GW ARTICLE: “Another interlocutor assures that the change of leader has improved the mood in the party. – There is a second wind. Faith has returned that a good campaign will bring success. Oh, and I confirm the rumors that in the PO, they consider Budka a messiah – jokes a politician from the Civic Coalition. He adds that they need a solid base and campaign strategy, which the PO has lacked for years.” https://wyborcza.pl/magazyn/7,124059,25697671,kulisy-kampanii-malgorzaty-kidawy-blonskiej-spelnia-wazny.html -- PIŚ PRETENDS LIKE LICHOCKA BEFORE THE CJEU - DOMINIKA WIELOWIEYSKA IN GW: “The genre scene with the MP and the chairman, along with her past views, shows that the ruling party treats Poles as 'ignorant folk,' to quote the current president of TVP, Jacek Kurski. It perfectly illustrates how PiS plays in various matters, but above all, how it plays in the case of the Disciplinary Chamber and the CJEU. (...) It will treat the Polish Supreme Court, Polish society, the CJEU, and the entire Union like Chairman Lichocka in the Sejm hall. I don't know what legal loopholes Ziobro will come up with, who has been playing cat and mouse with the Union for a long time, counting on the caution of the CJEU judges. This game has been going on for nearly five years, and during this time, PiS has been and will continue to present us with faits accomplis. And the further we go, the harder it will be to reverse these changes.” https://wyborcza.pl/7,75968,25695829,my-tylko-poprawiamy-oko-pis-przed-tsue-udaje-jak-lichocka.html -- LICHOCKA SHIFTS THE GEAR... WITH HER MIDDLE FINGER - MICHAŁ SUTOWSKI IN KRYTYKA: “Write here, man, the programs. Don't be late for votes. Pull out the cards when needed, press the button when needed. Prepare five hundred or so amendments to the weak budget, so that it becomes a bit more civilized. Write your counter-exposes at night, brilliant ones, so much so that the Prime Minister was flustered. So what? The greatest chance to shift the gears in these elections comes from a moderately competent MP who shows the opposition the finger. Her misfortune is that she does it in a debate where the opposition – rather symbolically, due to the balance of power – demands funds for treating cancer patients instead of Kurski's television. That is, for cancer instead of its treatment, as the former prime minister aptly put it.” -- LICHOCKA'S RUDENESS FELL FROM THE SKY TO THE OPPOSITION, LIKE RONALDO'S INJURY TO THE FRENCH AT THE WORLD CUP '98 - MAJMUREK'S CONCLUSION: Lichocka's rudeness fell from the sky to the opposition. Something like a gigantic ammunition depot accidentally abandoned by the enemy. Like Ronaldo's injury to the French in the '98 World Cup final. If the campaign teams don't figure out how to use this PR miracle (from the other side – a catastrophe) to shift the campaign's focus to something extremely inconvenient for PiS; to something that really matters to Poles – then they truly don't deserve to win.” https://krytykapolityczna.pl/kraj/srodkowy-palec-lichocka-fak-fuck/ -- JACEK GĄDEK WRITES ABOUT IRRITATION IN DUDA'S CAMPAIGN HEADQUARTERS - in Gazeta.pl: “Says someone close to the presidential campaign headquarters: – This gaffe has image significance and harms Andrzej Duda. It's already overshadowing our Saturday convention, and this was supposed to be the inauguration of the campaign, the most important topic, including on TVN.” -- AND SHE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE DUDA'S CAMPAIGN SPOKESPERSON… - GĄDEK CONTINUES: “This story also has an interesting subtext. Namely, MP Joanna Lichocka enjoys great trust and sympathy from Jarosław Kaczyński privately. The PiS leader gave very sincere interviews to her after the loss of his brother in the Smolensk plane crash. Since Lichocka was a journalist and is very media-savvy, according to our information, Kaczyński proposed that she be the spokesperson for the PiS campaign and Andrzej Duda. Now this idea is burned.” -- THE OPPOSITION GOT GREAT MATERIAL FOR SPOTS, BUT THE LOSSES FOR PiS ARE SHORT-TERM - GĄDEK CONTINUES: “When the PiS MP displayed her middle finger, the camp shifted from offense to defense and damage control. The opposition got great material that they can use in their spots. Nevertheless, the losses for PiS and Duda will be short-term if, as someone close to the PiS election campaign tells us, 'gaffes' do not repeat themselves.” https://wiadomosci.gazeta.pl/wiadomosci/7,114884,25696091,irytacja-w-sztabie-dudy-bo-to-inauguracja-kampanii-miala-byc.html -- THE STATE IN MIDDLE-FINGER MODE - PIOTR KASZCZYSZYN IN THE JAGELLONIAN CLUB: “The MP and member of the National Media Council, Joanna Lichocka, perfectly encapsulated the philosophy of action of the dominant part of the ruling camp with a simple gesture. 'The state in middle-finger mode' is doing well, and there is no indication that this will change.” -- ZIOBRO'S LOGIC AND MORAWIECKI'S LOGIC, MAY THE LATTER WIN - KACZYSZCZYN CONTINUES: “On the one hand, there is the personnel logic (all positions in the hands of loyal 'soldiers'), symbolized by Minister Ziobro with his 'reform' of the judiciary or the landing in public media. On the other hand, we have institutional logic represented by Prime Minister Morawiecki, with the establishment of the Polish Development Fund and a number of other institutions, about which one may have reservations, but one certainly cannot condemn these initiatives outright. It is around this division that the governing philosophy of the United Right will be largely organized. I myself have no doubt which of the Janus-faced aspects of the 'good change' camp should be supported, especially in the long-term perspective of succession on the right after Jarosław Kaczyński.” -- THIS IS NOT A CONSERVATIVE PARTY THAT DISTANCES ITSELF FROM VALUES - KACZYSZCZYN CONTINUES: “Arrogance, hubris, a conviction of one's own infallibility, from the perspective of Polish raison d'état, quality of governance, a limited pool of competent staff, and the future of our state in a dynamically changing geopolitical context mean actions harmful to Poland. The party, habitually called conservative, is not only not conservative. Those in power often distance themselves in practice from most of the values that constitute the essence of politics for conservatives.” https://klubjagiellonski.pl/2020/02/14/panstwo-w-trybie-srodkowego-palca/ -- THE OPPOSITION RECEIVED A LEFTIST GIFT - GALOPUJĄCY MAJOR IN KRYTYKA: “Meanwhile, the opposition is receiving a gift, indeed, a leftist gift. The moment when the neoliberals from Civic Platform, after so many years, finally hit upon the idea that you can test PiS not with free courts, but with social demands, is the perfect time for the entire opposition to jointly show how much social voters are treated by PiS as a mass that only generates votes for the 'new class.' And now, when Lichocka, when choosing whether to allocate funds to oncology or to TVP, shows a 'fuck off' in the Sejm hall, the opposition receives a gift that, if the PiS politicians had something like this, they would play with it non-stop. This is not the first gift, however. MP Pyzik, Kaczyński shouting about traitorous faces from the rostrum, a woman who slapped someone in the face at a demonstration, the beating of women by fascists at marches and prosecutorial dismissals, or proposals for councilor Piasecki to receive only community service for beating his wife. The opposition receives this, but does nothing with it. It cannot create a debate, a simple video online, and finally, it cannot put up a billboard with Lichocka's middle finger and the message, 'where PiS has oncology,' with every entry into a city.” -- WILL IT BE LIKE AFTER SEKIELSKI'S FILM? - MAJOR ON THE LOSING NARRATIVE: “I am convinced that just as a month after Sekielski's film about church pedophilia, the left had to account for gender and LGBT, and just as a month after the Ministry of Justice's incitement campaign 'little Emi,' judges received a muzzle law, so now the opposition will again have to account for hate and lack of standards. This is how the organized industry of hatred works versus opposition amateurs in white gloves. Already, opposition manipulators do not understand that in the Lichocka case, the offense against the dignity of the Sejm is not the most important thing, but the fact that instead of giving dying people 2 billion, someone preferred to give it to Kurski and his cronies.” https://krytykapolityczna.pl/felietony/galopujacy-major/lichocka-palec/ -- THE REVELATIONS OF RZECZPOSPOLITA ABOUT PENALTIES WERE NOT CONFIRMED, WILL WE HEAR AN EXPLANATION? - MICHAŁ KARNOWSKI: “None of this 'news,' which spread so widely, has been confirmed at all. Nothing! I don't think the reservation 'can be announced' changes much in such an important matter. Especially since 'Rzeczpospolita' must have known that the Polish government had only just sent – as agreed – its explanations to the CJEU during those hours. The timeline given in the original text therefore looked questionable from the beginning. It is therefore difficult to treat the 'Rz' text from a week ago as anything other than an attempt to heat up emotions and manipulate public opinion. In part, it was successful, because the information about alleged penalties spread strongly in Poland, while the CJEU's denial and the fact that nothing happened over the week were much weaker.” -- MISTAKE OR CONSCIOUS MANIPULATION? - KARNOWSKI'S CONCLUSION: “This quality of 'information' is difficult to accept. This is not information, it is psychological warfare conducted using disinformation. Public opinion deserves an explanation: was it a mistake or conscious manipulation?” https://wpolityce.pl/m/polityka/487056-czy-rz-wyjasni-skad-wziela-swego-newsa-o-karaniu-polski -- PIOTR ZAREMBA ON BOSAK: HE SPEAKS LIKE A NORMAL PERSON BUT HAS AN UNCLEAR PROFESSIONAL PATH: “Bosak speaks like he's from a manual for normal people, at least in terms of form. He is diligent, performs well in the media. Although, of course, his boyish face (he is 38 years old), lack of formal education, and unclear professional path rather count against him. Even his successes are controversial. Participation in TVN's 'Dancing with the Stars' is sometimes seen as showing off and sometimes as betrayal in the eyes of typical right-wing voters offended by reality.” -- HE IS NOT A CHARISMATIC LEADER - ZAREMBA CONTINUES ON BOSAK: “And possibly, he does it better than any of his colleagues could. And yet, we have the feeling that he is not a charismatic leader, a personal standard-bearer, even for a stable 10 percent that would allow him to dictate terms to others. That he will be bogged down by feuds with other Confederation leaders, as well as quarrels and desertions from the national corner itself. That he lacks even the human scope of Roman Giertych, who, before betraying his own movement, possessed a rugged charisma. You have it or you don't. Bosak is correct, sometimes sensible – within his particular ideology – but for now, little more.” -- IT IS POSSIBLE THAT POLES WILL BE FRIGHTENED BY THE GROWING RIFT BETWEEN THE PIŚ GOVERNMENT AND THE EUROPEAN UNION - ZAREMBA CONTINUES: “Bosak will naturally lose these elections, the question is with what result. And if Andrzej Duda wins them, nationalists will likely, along with all of Poland, witness the growing rift between the Piś government and the European Union. Then, anything can happen. It is possible that Poles will be frightened by this conflict and will shift, as if on a pendulum, towards a liberal-correct-euro-enthusiast direction. Which will turn Polish nationalists from a niche into a sect.” -- IT IS MORE LIKELY THAT ZIOBRO, WHO LACKS KACZYŃSKI'S PRO-WESTERN SCRUPLES, WILL BE STRENGTHENED: “It is more likely that this will accelerate various changes within PiS itself. That Zbigniew Ziobro's position will be strengthened, who lacks Jarosław Kaczyński's geopolitical, still pro-Western scruples. It is possible that he will invite nationalists to this game for the right wing (those who have not already sold themselves for positions in state-owned companies). But perhaps disguises in historical ideologies will not be necessary for him?” https://www.polsatnews.pl/wiadomosc/2020-02-15/wybor-bosaka-miedzy-sekta-a-mainstreamowa-prawica/ -- ONLY THE VICTORY OF KOSINIAK OFFERS HOPE FOR CHANGE - MAGDALENA SOBKOWIAK IN CONVERSATION WITH PIOTR WITWICKI IN RZ: “There has always been political conflict, the question is only how high the temperature of these emotions is. After the death of Paweł Adamowicz, we proposed the 'peace sign' initiative. The fact that Kosiniak-Kamysz shook hands with people from different sides of the political scene and communities caused a wave of hate to be poured on him. This shows that we have hit a wall. This is a path to nowhere. Only Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz's victory in the presidential elections brings hope for change.” https://www.rp.pl/Plus-Minus/302149998-Magdalena-Sobkowiak-Prezydent-powinien-byc-jak-Aleksander-Kwasniewski.html -- THE IDENTITY-BASED READER IS THE MOST LOYAL - ANDRZEJ STANKIEWICZ IN WIRTUALNE MEDIA: “The identity-based reader has become the most loyal, so publishers have started to target them, building a specific message for often simply crazy readers. This pays off. I know journalists who work in such publishing houses, I know some of them for many years. Some of them are neophytes who have suddenly converted politically. Others are pragmatists. I know those who had to radicalize themselves to the right, because it ensures their livelihood. In this situation, there is no talk of any mission. Some journalists, consciously or passively, have made a calculation: 'reader, you can go f*** yourself, there are layoffs in newspapers, radical media want my texts, but they have to be radical.' Identity publishers need a hard line. If a journalist wants to break through in them – they must bet on radicalism. This promotes specific attitudes – the more radical I am, the better. In addition, the political division has given journalists in individual camps a sense of community. If you make a mistake, if you have a trial, if someone attacks you – your media-political environment will stand behind you like a wall, according to the motto: 'they're hitting one of ours.' This is quite comfortable. No one asks: guilty or innocent, did they write this text well or badly. They are ours, so we defend them because they are ours. There is no objective responsibility – he assesses.” -- I STOPPED DEFENDING JOURNALISTS - STANKIEWICZ CONTINUES: “As I appear on television and comment on politics, some people who are interested in it associate me with it. Very often, people on the street stop me and say that what is happening in Poland – this hatred, these emotions – is the fault of journalists. For years, I defended them, myself, us. I stopped. What is happening is the fault of journalists.” -- JOURNALISTS ABSORB EMOTIONS - ANDRZEJ STANKIEWICZ CONTINUES: “The emotions between Tusk and Kaczyński are real, there is no game there. But among lower-ranking politicians from opposing camps, it is not so heated. Unfortunately, journalists mainly absorb the emotions that are at the very top. In this way, they fuel conflict in society. Through what we write, through the selection of materials, through the way we present them, we escalate the war. And this is often simply Mr. Kaczyński's war with Mr. Tusk, which we should observe from the sidelines and rather temper emotions.” -- THE BIGGEST HOOLIGANS IN THE MEDIA ARE YOUNG PEOPLE, GENERATIONAL CHANGE CHANGES NOTHING - STANKIEWICZ AGAIN: “But generational change alone will not heal the media. After all, the biggest political hooligans in the media are young people – they have no major journalistic achievements, so they want to stand out with brutality. I cannot say what needs to be done to change this. I am not a moralizer. My luck was that I started my journalistic work at a good time, I had some luck with people and topics. No one approaches me with strange proposals. I simply have a reputation as someone who cannot get along. This is my luck, but I know that not everyone has it.” https://www.wirtualnemedia.pl/artykul/siedem-grzechow-glownych-dziennikarstwa-grzech-szosty-upolitycznienie-andrzej-stankiewicz -- JAN ŚPIEWAK ON THE TRAP OF EXPENSIVE HOUSING AND GIG EMPLOYMENT - writes in Polsatnews.pl magazine: “The economy is growing, wages are rising, companies are reporting huge profits. If things are so great, why is it so bad for many? Young people who entered the labor market over the last decade are in a particularly difficult situation. They have found themselves in a trap of expensive housing, low wages, and gig employment.” https://www.polsatnews.pl/wiadomosc/2020-02-15/spiewak-sprzedane-pokolenie-w-panstwie-z-papieru/ -- SOVEREIGNTY IS NOT ONLY TANKS, BUT ALSO INDEPENDENTLY THINKING CITIZENS - MICHAŁ SZUŁDRZYŃSKI IN PRZEGLĄD KATOLICKI: “Especially if we realize that we increasingly get information from the internet, primarily from social media, and at the same time we are unable to distinguish reliable sources from complete falsehoods. American research has also shown that false information spreads much faster than true information. No, I am not writing all this to complain. I also don't want to feel superior to anyone. The point is that this matter is of immense importance for our country's security. Put simply – educated and well-read people are much harder to manipulate. It was no accident that both the Soviets and the German Nazis first dealt with Polish elites. They knew, after all, that Polish intelligence would be the hardest for them to manipulate, to subject to propaganda. Sovereignty is not only about tanks or media; sovereignty is about educated and well-read citizens who think critically. All research shows that we are giving up our sovereignty ourselves today.” https://www.przewodnik-katolicki.pl/Archiwum/2020/Przewodnik-Katolicki-7-2020/Opinie/Suwerennosc-to-krytycznie-myslacy-obywatele -- BIRTHDAYS: Andrzej Wiszniewski, SUNDAY: Błażej Spychalski, Radosław Fogiel, Aleksandra Pogassi, Dorota Arciszewska-Mielewczyk, Stanisław Skarżyński, Ola Kwaśniewska.
