What Marek is talking about is happening in recent months all over Poland – from large cities to small towns. Information is coming in: in a block in Gdańsk, it increased by 17 percent. In Białystok, residents of a cooperative block are protesting. There are many such stories – they show a new social problem. It's not always as aggressive and panicked as in the case of the Mokotów community. According to real estate market experts, an increase ranging from 8 to 20 percent of the previous rent should be considered high but justified. However, Polish law does not provide for a maximum limit on increases, so community and cooperative managements are trying to take advantage of this.”
