President Meets with Ministers and Heads of Services

Today, President Karol Nawrocki will meet with the Minister of Interior and Administration Tomasz Siemoniak, the Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, and the heads of civilian and military special services.

Also today, at 6:00 PM, a New Year's meeting will take place at the Presidential Palace between President Karol Nawrocki and the First Lady Marta Nawrocka and the heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Poland.

At 3:00 PM, a press conference will be held by the President of the National Bank of Poland (NBP), Adam Glapiński, focusing on the assessment of the current economic situation in Poland.

- I wouldn't look for emotionally charged phrases like 'warming up' here. We simply have to cooperate, and the fact that government members or the Prime Minister see the President, or the President sees government members, that they have contact with each other, that's rather a kind of normalcy, even in difficult cohabitation - stated Adam Szłapka in "Rozmowa Piaseckiego" on TVN24.

- It's not that the president can summon any government official without the prime minister's knowledge, because the prime minister is responsible for that. Just as Minister Sikorski, for example, doesn't summon Minister Bogucki to question him about their visit plans - stated Adam Szłapka in "Piasecki's Interview" on TVN24.

- It must be stated very clearly that there will certainly be no great affection here, because it will be a difficult cohabitation. For many, including myself, for example, meeting in this format with hooligans who have convictions is not something that is acceptable, but the president is the president, we have to cooperate, especially on matters concerning international affairs - stated Adam Szłapka in TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

- It's hard to accept such pure political scheming. For example, vetoing certain laws which are purely malicious - stated Adam Szłapka in "Piasecki's Conversation" on TVN24.

- I urged Szymon for a very long time to run in these elections. In fact, until the last day of candidate registration, December 10th, but today we are in an advanced electoral process, the second round simply needs to be repeated. People want to conclude the internal elections and continue working - said Paulina Hennig-Kloska in RMF FM's "Morning Interview".

- I pointed this out a few weeks before the election, along with other candidates. We pointed out that additional safeguards might be needed. There was no such will, neither from the Marshal, nor from other members of our board who made these decisions- Paulina Hennig-Kloska said in the RMF FM "Morning Interview".

- The situation internally is calmer than the media often portray it, and I have gathered a group of fantastic people around me who are brimming with energy and want to work to rebuild the support for Poland 2050 - said Paulina Hennig-Kloska during the "Morning Interview" on RMF FM.

- This is not true, and I also don't really want to talk about personalities and positions that involve more catching a bear that is still running freely in the forest, because today someone else is the Prime Minister, and let this Prime Minister deal with what is most important for Poles - said Mateusz Morawiecki on Radio ZET, when asked if it was true that Jarosław Kaczyński told him "Mateusz, you won't be Prime Minister anymore."

- Of course, if such is the verdict of Poles and if the political and arithmetic situation in the Sejm allows it, then I think I have experience and I have always acted in such a way that unemployment decreased, and that the economy and public finances functioned as well as possible - he continued, when asked whether he wants to be Prime Minister again or not.

- Our task is to prepare the best solutions, and let the president take responsibility for something, for example, and we will see the consequences. It is winter, and we already have some information that animals on chains have frozen to death. This is how the president decided - stated Adam Szłapka in "Piasecki's Conversation" on TVN24.

- I think it's good for this party, and I believe for the entire coalition, for these elections to simply conclude. However, it is obviously Poland 2050's decision how they will conduct this process. - Nothing has broken, everything is the same as it has been for many, many years – said Mateusz Morawiecki on Radio ZET, when asked if something had broken in his relationship with Jarosław Kaczyński.

- I think that the creators of that declaration at the time lacked the imagination of what would happen if the Russian Federation actually attacked us - said Mateusz Morawiecki on Radio ZET, responding to a listener's question about the Polish Declaration's provision excluding the possibility of a coalition with Donald Tusk in any situation, and about him allowing such a possibility in case of war, and whether that means he wouldn't sign the declaration.

- Since Daszyński was in Witos's government [...] there was agreement between Dmowski and Piłsudski, then I think that since our great fathers of independence were able to agree 125 or 125.5 years ago, we should also be able to agree - he continued.

- Yes, I can imagine it - he went on to say, when asked if he could imagine a situation where, in the event of Putin's attack on Poland, Tusk and Kaczyński would be in the same government.

- All NATO countries, the United States, Canada, European Union countries, including those EU countries that are not members of NATO, such as Austria, Ireland - said Mateusz Morawiecki on Radio ZET, when asked who would belong to an economic NATO.

- Not an alternative, but just as the European Union today is also part of the European Economic Area [...] so here I propose to create the world's most powerful economic system, which will regulate and financially dominate others - he continued, when asked if it would be an alternative to the EU.

- I'm doing my job as head of the chancellery. First, one must work, carry out their tasks, serve Poles, serve Poland. Win the elections, form a united front, I'm talking about my political environment, i.e. PiS. And then there will be a good prime minister from PiS - said Zbigniew Bogucki in the program "Bez uników" on PR3, when asked about a poll for Onet, according to which Patryk Jaki should become the young candidate for prime minister from PiS, followed by Zbigniew Bogucki and Przemysław Czarnek.

When asked if he would like to be prime minister and has such ambitions, he replied: - This is not a matter of wanting or not wanting. It is a matter of work, facts, and responsibility.

- This issue concerning nominations to the first officer rank, which are made by the President of the Republic, will undoubtedly be one of the agenda points of this meeting [the President with ministers and heads of services]. This is obvious. It could have been resolved many, many weeks ago, but at that time there was no willingness to talk on the part of the ruling party, probably Donald Tusk himself - said Zbigniew Bogucki in the program "Bez uników" on PR3.

- Today, this is not a meeting to sign a hundred and fifty, as I understand it, applications, but to establish appropriate, most important matters. Nominations also belong to these most important matters, but it is also not the case that the President will sign these nominations completely thoughtlessly, because they have been submitted - he indicated.

- Every person will be appropriately, every person must be looked at with kindness, with understanding, but also with concern for the security of the state - he pointed out.

- It is natural that if the President signs an officer nomination, he must know whom he is signing it for. [...] This applies to all spheres of life, and especially to public and state life, which is as important as the special services - he added.

- To be clear, I do not want to defend this man [Tomasz P.], because I don't know him, I don't know these charges. I know as much as the media have largely reported. But accepting what you just said, I understand that this is an non-final verdict, so he is not yet convicted by a final judgment, and he is neither a member of the Chancellery, nor a collaborator of the President, nor a member of PiS – said Zbigniew Bogucki in the program “Bez uników” on PR3.

- So, there are no links here between this man, the person with the nickname Dragon, and the President – he emphasized.

- However, there are far-reaching links between, for example, a PO senator or one who ran, was once the secretary of Civic Platform and was sentenced to 5 years of unconditional imprisonment – he continued.

- If it had been a closed meeting [in a hall during the fan pilgrimage to Jasna Góra], and such meetings do take place, for example, today, it would have had a confidentiality clause, then there simply wouldn't have been any reporting on it - said Zbigniew Bogucki on the program "Bez uników" (No Evasion) on PR3.

- This was a meeting that was not directly prepared by the Presidential Chancellery, but by an association that has been organizing this type of fan pilgrimage to Jasna Góra for many, a dozen or so years. And it had a public character - he continued.

Not all of these people, it's natural, for example, at various rallies, open meetings - and this was an open meeting, despite being indoors due to the weather - not all of these people are checked - he went on to say.

- This is a massive shame for this government – I'm talking about Donald Tusk's government – that Minister Ziobro is granted asylum in another European democratic country, a NATO member, that he can move not only in Hungary but also throughout the free world - he continued.

- Where can he not travel? To his homeland, to his country, because here he is pursued first by Bodnar's people and now by Żurek's people as part of Donald Tusk's hatred for Minister Ziobro and for PiS. This is sick, they are sick with hatred - he stated.

- The information revealed by TV Republika that the judge assigned to handle the arrest warrant request for Zbigniew Ziobro was changed at the last minute only multiplies the questions - stated Mariusz Błaszczak on social media.

- What were the reasons for such a decision? Why did you change the judge at the last minute, to the same one who was designated to re-examine the ENA case concerning Minister Romanowski? Without an immediate answer to these questions, no one will have any doubt that we are dealing with a setup - emphasized the head of the PiS parliamentary club.

- At the end of the year, on December 29th and in the following hours of December 30th, cyberattacks occurred targeting energy infrastructure in Poland. Firstly, I want to state that following today's meeting with the heads of institutions responsible for energy security, including special services and Polish energy grids, as well as energy ministers responsible for energy companies, I want to say that Poland defended itself against attempts to destabilize its energy infrastructure. Critical infrastructure, meaning transmission networks, which are crucial for the security of the entire system, was not threatened for a single moment - stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press conference at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister (KPRM).

- The attempted attacks on certain elements of energy infrastructure were not attempts that threatened the destabilization of the entire system or a blackout in Poland; that was out of the question. Certain locations were attacked point by point, including, for example, two combined heat and power plants, and these attacks were aimed at the system that enables the management of electricity originating from RES (Renewable Energy Sources) - the head of government continued.

- This attack practically resulted in no negative consequences. Therefore, I can say that we did not waste this time and that the Polish energy system is, as much as is possible in the modern world, secure against such interventions or attacks, but we cannot underestimate the signals. There is no hard evidence, but much indicates that these attacks were prepared by groups directly connected with Russian services, and I do not want to speculate on this matter - Tusk said.

- We have no doubts as to the sources of inspiration. If similar attacks were to repeat, the security systems have worked and will continue to work in the future, but we cannot exclude, given the nature of these interventions, the probability that a state that is hostile to us is also involved – we have no doubts about that – so we must also prepare additional security measures - he emphasized.

- I have commended the Minister of National Defence, the Minister Coordinator of Special Services, and the heads of the services to go to the President today and have a comprehensive discussion about what can be done together, how to persuade the President, for example, regarding the promotion to the first officer rank for our future officers, intelligence heroes. I am speaking about the future heroes of Polish intelligence and Polish services, but yes, these people who decide to work in the services are potential heroes, and the President's task is not to hinder their start on this ambitious, very patriotic professional path, but to facilitate it - stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press conference at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.

- If this attack had succeeded, if everything that was organized had been effective, then up to 500,000 people would have been left without heat. So, on a national scale, this is not... - There is no doubt that Mr. Ziobro's decision to flee with his wife and seek political asylum in Hungary is, in this sense, a human, moral, not formal, admission of guilt. Minister Ziobro fears the Polish court like the devil fears holy water. And here one thing must be emphasized - stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press conference at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister (KPRM).

- He decided on political asylum, even though, according to all principles, including the unambiguous opinion of the EU on this matter, Poland is not a country where the rule of law is threatened, where a person can feel threatened due to the poor state of the rule of law. Poland is considered, like all other EU countries, as a so-called safe country, meaning a country from which no one has a reason to flee and ask for political asylum. There is only one country in the EU against which proceedings related to the violation of the rule of law are ongoing, and that is Hungary - he said.

- In reality, Mr. Ziobro's political asylum is no different from the political asylum of his protégé, Mr. Schmdit, in Belarus. It is exactly the same mechanism and, de facto, the same reasons - he continued.

- No, we are not planning to send Polish soldiers to Greenland - stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press conference in the Chancellery of the Prime Minister (KPRM).

- The meeting lasted nearly three hours, and was held under a classified information regime [...]. This meeting was constructive and substantive, and concerned the most important issues related to the security of the Republic of Poland - Rafał Leśkiewicz stated at a press conference following the meeting between the President, ministers, and heads of services.

- The President received reports presented by all four heads of services concerning the most crucial matters related to the security of the Republic of Poland, but primarily concerning the identification of threats to state security and citizen security. This is what the President primarily requested from the heads of the special services - he continued.

- The discussions during today's meeting naturally focused on cooperation with the special services of other countries, and also addressed the condition of the special services, detailing the conditions under which they operate. Both Prime Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz and Minister Tomasz Siemoniak spoke on these matters - he added.

- It was also agreed during this meeting that such meetings with the leadership of the special services would occur more frequently, cyclically. The Chancellery of the President, and primarily President Karol Nawrocki, will also receive more frequent information from the special services concerning external and internal security - he concluded.

- During today's meeting, the topic of officer nominations, promotions within the special services, and decorations within the special services was also naturally discussed - said Rafał Leśkiewicz at a press conference following the president's meeting with ministers and heads of services.

- The President declared that any requests that are resubmitted to him will be considered, and he will make decisions based on the information gathered regarding the officers for whom these requests are made - he continued.

- The issue of personnel matters related to the Presidential Chancellery and the National Security Bureau was also raised, and here the President clearly stated that it is his decisions that encompass all matters concerning the functioning of the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland and the National Security Bureau - he went on to say.

- The President also emphasized that he expects a full clarification of all matters concerning what has recently aroused significant public interest, namely suspicions and conjectures regarding the involvement of special services in the electoral process - said Rafał Leśkiewicz at a press conference following the President's meeting with ministers and heads of services.

- Particularly in the context of disclosing information originating, for example, from the files of an investigative proceeding within the framework of access to classified information of the then presidential candidate, and today's President of the Republic of Poland, Karol Nawrocki - he continued.

- But also other matters, where information from special services reached journalists and was published in various media; such situations are, of course, unacceptable. The President clearly expressed his position that he expects a full clarification of these issues - he went on to say.

- Similarly, as regards the illegal financing of the election campaign [...] of Rafał Trzaskowski, here too the President discussed with the heads of special services that this matter also requires clarification in the context of next year's parliamentary elections - he added.

- If Minister Kotula requests such a meeting, the President will certainly meet with the authors and initiators of the bill, because it is obvious, the Presidential Palace is open - said Rafał Leśkiewicz at a press conference after the President's meeting with ministers and heads of services.

- If such a need for a meeting arises, if such an expectation appears from Minister Kotula, it will certainly not be ignored - he continued.

- During this meeting, a glimmer of hope has ignited that cooperation between the special services and the National Security Bureau (BBN) can be implemented in a more meaningful way - said Deputy Head of BBN, Gen. Andrzej Kowalski, at a press conference following the president's meeting with ministers and heads of services.

- Both Prime Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz and Minister Siemoniak, as well as the heads of services, accepted our point of view, in which we explained that it is necessary to inform the National Security Bureau in a full, precise, direct, and exhaustive manner, so that from the perspective of the National Security Bureau, appropriate information can be prepared for the president - he continued.

- There is a promise that the National Security Bureau will be supplied with information in a broader, more timely, and more exhaustive manner - he added.

- "For the government, for us personally, this is a matter of the highest [security] importance. We are making every effort to ensure this happens, and by arranging regular meetings, precisely in such a group, we will provide information and we will request specific provisions or decisions from the President," stated Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz at a press conference.

- The court has decided to postpone the hearing until February 5th due to a submitted motion to recuse the presiding judge from participating in the proceedings, in connection with the ongoing procedure in this regard. The court was unable to continue the hearing today - informed Zbigniew Ziobro's defense attorneys.

- At what point will we make a decision? There is certainly still some room for easing. It's not a lot of room, but there is some to discuss. Each member of the council can have a different option at this moment - stated Adam Glapiński at a press conference.

- In 10 years, we will be so wealthy that we can afford to loosen the reins a bit, to slightly reduce the dynamism of work in favor of free time. In 10 years, perhaps 8, perhaps 10, perhaps 12, but not now - said Adam Glapiński at a press conference.

- We must fight all ideas to shorten working hours, to multiply various kinds of concepts that will reduce work discipline, etc., etc. In particular, the entire topic of remote work opens up here - he continued.

I remind you that we are talking about a deputy minister in the PiS government and a political prisoner in the Polish People's Republic. - That is why it is important that these meetings are taking place; there are many meetings that happen without the spotlight, with government representatives, with parliamentary majority representatives - said Paweł Szefernaker on RMF FM, after the host pointed out that it is important whether the president meets with government representatives or not.

- If there are problems to solve, then very often politicians who disagree on a daily basis sit down and talk, because if someone is president and someone is a government representative, solutions must be sought - he continued.

- It is very often the case, for example, the visit of Ms. Hennig-Kloska [...] took place before one of the laws in the palace, it ended with a conversation that resulted in the president's veto, when they tried to explain whether a given law should be signed or not, but it is worth talking, and the president, the president's entourage, we are open to conversation on important matters - he went on to say.

- This is the perfect, textbook example of how public attention is being diverted - said Paweł Szefernaker on RMF FM, when asked if he and the president could learn patriotism from Schnepf and Klich, in connection with Radosław Sikorski's post: "Don't you get the impression that our right wing has an unhealthy obsession with Messrs. Schnepf and Klich? How many times can one threaten that they won't be ambassadors? I remind you that we are talking about a deputy minister in the PiS government and a political prisoner in the PRL. They could learn patriotism from them."

- Do you know where Minister Radosław Sikorski is right now? At the Presidential Palace. There is a meeting of the diplomatic corps with the president, and Radosław Sikorski is accompanying the president. And there is no problem with that. There is no problem in any relations, in those where Poland needs to be represented, to stand together before the diplomatic corps, before the ambassadors - he continued.

- Meanwhile, probably on his way to this meeting, Minister Sikorski is diverting public attention with posts of this type, which contribute nothing. Poles don't care what one minister says about another - he went on to say.

"The President has already spoken with Minister Sikorski once, and I am convinced that you gentlemen are capable of finalizing how this cadre of Polish ambassadors will look. I am convinced there is also a possibility of agreement, one just needs to sit down and talk, not negotiate through the media whether it will be this many percent or not." - said Paweł Szefernaker on RMF FM.

- I am convinced that if the government responds positively to what the President has stated in the justification for the veto [regarding DSA], what are the conditions for him to sign it in the future, but there is no agreement to introduce good solutions and also introduce prior censorship with one law - Paweł Szefernaker said in RMF FM.

- It's disastrous, the president spoke about it [...] it's very similar to last year's budget. At the end of last year, Polish healthcare was inefficient - Paweł Szefernaker said on RMF FM, responding to the host's statement that the president does not like the budget.

"So obvious that even MP Mentzen noticed it." - Prime Minister Donald Tusk wrote on X, referring to a fragment of a video featuring Sławomir Mentzen.

The Confederation politician says in the attached recording: "If we look at relations with the European Union, then Tusk is, in my opinion, more assertive there than Mateusz Morawiecki. That's how it looks when it comes to doing, not speaking. That is, Tusk noticed a long time ago [...] that he has to say pro-European things because his electorate expects it, but in real actions in the European Union, he stands his ground. Meanwhile, PiS does the exact opposite. They have very anti-European rhetoric, but then they agree to everything and sign everything."
