- For me, as for all Poles, the most important thing is for this war to end. Once it ends, regardless of how it ends, once there is peace there, once the bombs stop falling, once the drones stop carrying death to ordinary Ukrainians, and we no longer feel threatened about our security - said Przemysław Czarnek on Radio Republika.

- Of course, for Ukraine, it is important how it ends and in what form Ukraine maintains its independence, sovereignty, with defense guarantees from Europe and the Western world, particularly the United States. Whether it will have Donbas or not, whether it will have Crimea or not - said Przemysław Czarnek on Radio Republika.

- However, from a Pole's perspective, this has secondary or tertiary importance. The primary importance is that Ukraine survives, does not lose this war, maintains at least, in some form, its sovereignty, independence, and that peace is planned there as soon as possible - he continued.

- Today, for us, the worst solution is for this war to continue for another year, two, three, four years, because each year it will weaken Ukraine and threaten its collapse, and then we would truly have Russia along our entire eastern border. Any situation is better than one where the war continues - said Przemysław Czarnek on Radio Republika.

- Trump was initially mocked, then they said he was a madman, then they blamed him for greeting Putin in Florida and getting into his car. I don't like it one bit either. Putin is a genocidaire, he is a butcher, he is a madman, and that is how we will consider him. However, this is the foreign policy of the United States, not Poland. This foreign policy of the United States, from the perspective of 9 months, is leading to a ceasefire - said Przemysław Czarnek on Radio Republika.

- If we can count on anyone's help, it's only the United States. We never have 100% certainty that the States will always help us, which is why we must primarily strengthen ourselves, also within European structures - said Przemysław Czarnek on Radio Republika.

- If anyone were to help us in a situation of real threat from Russia, it would only be the United States, and this is something we must remember - Przemysław Czarnek continued.

- A government like Donald Tusk's is a threat to Poland, a mortal threat to Poland. Only the development of right-wing, center-right governments, supporting Karol Nawrocki, can give us a guarantee of peace in the coming years - said Przemysław Czarnek on Radio Republika.

- It's good that Mateusz Morawiecki has also started speaking a bit differently than he did two months ago, or a month and a half ago, when he positioned himself as prime minister and said 'this person and that person will not be in my government, I don't foresee them.' - From January 1, 2026, new rules will apply for the reimbursement of costs incurred by MPs for using private cars in connection with the performance of their mandate. The Marshal of the Sejm has signed an amendment to the regulation concerning the establishment and financing of MPs' offices. The changes strengthen control and transparency of reimbursements – particularly for journeys outside the electoral district and in the case of long-term car rentals – informed the Chancellery of the Sejm.

The most important changes:

1. Journeys outside the district – a register of journeys with their dates and routes will be created. The rules will be analogous to employee business trips

2. Journeys within the electoral district – no more than PLN 1,725 per month

3. Stricter rules for long-term vehicle rental reimbursements

- Today, agricultural protests are taking place in many places in Poland. We understand this, we accept it, because farmers fear the signing of an agreement with Mercosur countries, within the EU. However, I also have a request: do not be deceived by the Pharisees from PiS, who initially said that the signing of this agreement needed to be expedited. Prime Minister Morawiecki, Prime Minister Szydło, and also the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Czaputowicz, said this. At a meeting in Brazil, he stated that this agreement should be signed as soon as possible. The current government has been against signing this agreement in its current form from the very beginning - stated Stefan Krajewski at a press conference.

- We were looking for a good, compromise, but dignified solution, and the fact that today the Council of Ministers adopted both bills, namely the bill on the status of a next of kin in a relationship and the bill introducing provisions for this act, is primarily a step towards the security and legal protection of people living in same-sex relationships, but also for people living in heterosexual relationships who for some reason have not formalized their union - said Katarzyna Kotula at a press conference after the government meeting.

As she indicated: - We are going to the Sejm with a conciliatory bill, with a bill for which - according to our assessment - there is a majority in the Sejm and the Senate today. And this is a historic moment, because never has a law regulating informal unions found a majority in the Sejm, nor a majority in the Senate.

- The draft law on the status of a next of kin, as the name itself suggests, creates the status of a next of kin. Today, in reality, two people living even in a same-sex relationship, but also heterosexual couples, can go to a notary, but unfortunately, they cannot acquire many of these various rights based even on such an agreement, and this law regulates these matters - said Katarzyna Kotula at a press conference after the government meeting.

- This conciliatory draft actually talks about everything that is everyday practice. It is a matter of regulating rights and obligations in the sphere of material matters, personal matters, as well as family matters. A civil law agreement made at a notary will be registered in the civil registry office in a sub-register. And here, analogously to the law on so-called simplified divorces, we focused on creating such a sub-register, in which these agreements would be registered at the civil registry office - she explained.

"In this main law, we regulate the issue of what is included in the agreement. A civil law agreement primarily includes a number of decisions. Thus, one can say that this law optionally guarantees us a certain scope of rights, and these rights include, among other things, property matters," Katarzyna Kotula said at a press conference after a government meeting.

"The parties to the agreement choose whether they want to remain in separation, which here is automatic, unlike in marriage, but they can decide on community property. If they decide on community property, they are entitled to joint tax settlement after a full tax year. [...] Joint settlement is something that cannot be obtained today through a civil law agreement," she continued.

"Another important issue is exemption from inheritance and gift tax, i.e., the so-called zero group for individuals who decide on such nearest person status in a relationship. Access to medical documentation and information - this is, of course, something the LGBT community has been talking about for years and greatly needs, but also mandates in ordinary, everyday matters, as well as before administrative courts," she pointed out.

"Of course, there is the issue of the right to use an apartment and the issue of inheritance. The issue of inheritance is regulated on the principle of testamentary succession, not statutory succession. The law introducing the regulations also addresses the issues of rights acquired under the nearest person status, which are also not possible today, and these include, among others, health insurance, family pension, and the right to burial," she listed.

As she emphasized: "This law isn't peanuts. This law realistically guarantees security, guarantees legal protection for people living in same-sex relationships, meaning we are talking about same-sex couples and hetero couples."

- Regarding readiness to talk with the Presidential Palace, naturally myself and Urszula Pasławska – as these are practically the two individuals who worked on this project the longest, but also MEP Krzysztof Śmiszek – we have declared from the beginning that we are ready, ready for such a meeting. I think not only with Mr. President, Mr. President, but also with Madam President – said Katarzyna Kotula at a press conference after the government meeting.

- This concerns family matters, it concerns relationship matters. More and more Polish men and women live in blended families. We want to make people's lives easier. The Coalition of October 15th is introducing changes with this act that simply make people's daily lives easier – she continued.

- The bill [on the status of a next of kin] will, if I am not mistaken, be sent to the Sejm today or tomorrow at the latest. I spoke with Marshal Włodzimierz Czarzasty this morning. We want this bill to receive its print number as soon as possible – Katarzyna Kotula said at a press conference following the government session.

- This probably means that during the second Sejm session, which is likely around January 21st, 22nd, 23rd, approximately this week, I hope the first reading of this bill would take place – she indicated.

- This is a law that implements 3 rulings of the European Court of Human Rights, but not the ECJ ruling, and that is very important - said Katarzyna Kotula in “Fakty po Faktach” on TVN24.

- The ECJ ruling must be implemented and respected. For many weeks, meetings have been held involving the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Interior and Administration, as it is this ministry that supervises the Civil Status Records Act, and this is a key law also for the implementation of the ECJ ruling. I am also participating in these meetings - Katarzyna Kotula continued.

- President Karol Nawrocki, during the election campaign, announced that he would sign a law that would help people. One that would regulate the status of a close person, the nearest person, to be able to assist in everyday matters, in accessing information at government offices, medical information – this list can be extended – to help such individuals. If someone needs such help, such an agreement between two people, to help in daily life, then the president is ready to sign such a law - stated Paweł Szefernaker on Polsat News's 'Gość Wydarzeń'.

- However, the law that was adopted by the government today is a law that transfers marital privileges to registered partnerships. This is not a law about the status of the nearest person, intended to provide assistance to Poles, but rather it is simply a matter of ideology, and the president does not agree to equate marriage with registered partnerships - he continued.

- If this is a law that transfers marital privileges to registered partnerships, the president will not agree. The president will also not agree to opening the door to adoption for same-sex couples in the future, and in our opinion, this law is such a first step - emphasized the head of the presidential cabinet.

- Even the social consultations that the government conducted while implementing this bill indicate that there is simply an attempt to equate partnership unions with marriage. There are a multitude of various organizations with which the government consulted. These are organizations that deal with the rights of LGBT people on a daily basis, including the organization Homokomando, the organization Trans-Fuzja, [organizations dealing with] transition, non-binary [identities], and many organizations - stated Paweł Szefernaker in "Gość Wydarzeń" on Polsat News.

- This shows what the goal of this project is. It was consulted with those who strive for the eventual legalization of child adoption by same-sex couples, and there is no consent for that from the President - he continued.

- This shows that consistency and determination in advancing Polish matters, implemented by President Duda, are bringing successes both domestically and internationally. The President had already announced this, after the meeting, at a joint press conference with President Zelensky, stating that we are counting on further actions related to exhumations - stated Paweł Szefernaker on Polsat News's 'Gość Wydarzeń'.

- Today, as a result of the President's talks with President Zelensky in Warsaw, we have more very good news. This is a big step forward - he continued.

- On the prezydent.pl website, you can go and see how long subsequent bills submitted by the president, which he ran on, which he promised to Poles, which he submitted after being sworn in as president, are waiting. These include bills related to lowering electricity prices, very important bills. For several weeks, and most for over a dozen weeks, these are bills that are lying in the Marshal's freezer - stated Paweł Szefernaker in "Gość Wydarzeń" on Polsat News.

- Tomorrow I will assign a printing number to the bill on partnership unions, and therefore I will introduce it for parliamentary debate – Włodzimierz Czarzasty said in a conversation with Marek Czyż on TVP Info's “Question of the Day.”

- As I promised, these three things will be realized this year. That is, the ban on alcohol sales, mileage allowances, and a new formula, helpful for MPs when it comes to settling mileage claims, and partnership unions. Said, done. I am satisfied with this – he stated.

The issue of kilometre allowance settlements did not stem from the bad intentions of the MPs, because I also strongly dislike the narrative that has appeared here and there, suggesting that MPs are doing something wrong with this money.
