"Listening to the Government Spokesperson, I Rubbed My Eyes in Disbelief." Szefernaker: We Knew About the Teleconference a Day Earlier

We knew about this conference a day before the call with President Trump and European leaders, a day before that call. Frankly speaking, listening to the government spokesperson, I rubbed my eyes in disbelief. I don't know why we adopted such a communication strategy. We decided we would do our own thing, we wouldn't communicate this; there was no such need. We communicated it at the moment when the president was on the call with President Trump and other European leaders – stated Paweł Szefernaker on TV Republika.

PiS-Confederation Coalition? Błaszczak: They Don't Distance Themselves from Tusk, Don't Rule Out a Coalition with Him

– When I listen to the leaders of Konfederacja, they do not distance themselves from Donald Tusk. They did not accept the 10 points that were presented by Prime Minister Jarosław Kaczyński – said Mariusz Błaszczak on Polsat News, when asked whether a PiS-Konfederacja coalition was realistic.

– We appealed to all those who share our vision for Poland, to discuss, to talk, to present precisely such a foundation – he continued.

– What worries me is that Konfederacja does not rule out a coalition with Donald Tusk – he added.

"There Were Likely Discrepancies, Given They Are Different Politicians With Different Visions for Poland." Bogucki on the Nawrocki-Tusk Meeting

Well, surely there were some discrepancies, as these are different politicians with a different vision for Poland, and also a different vision for foreign policy. But that post, which speaks of 100% agreement regarding family issues, or children's issues, or love for children, doesn't rule out that there were also common elements. I assume such common ground must have existed on Donald Tusk's side too, because President Nawrocki simply represents Polish interests, the Polish national interest. So, if there wasn't this convergence, then [there would probably be a problem] – stated Zbigniew Bogucki on the program "Pytanie dnia" on TVP INFO, when asked about the meeting between President Nawrocki and Prime Minister Tusk.

I sometimes have far-reaching doubts, bordering on certainty [that the prime minister is not acting in Poland's interest], regarding some of Prime Minister Donald Tusk's actions, for example, on the international stage, such as participating in this pushing out of the United States from Europe, or the decisions he made before 2015 – I'm referring here to the reset with Russia, cooperation with Russian services. All of this happened, we cannot forget about it – he continued.

Head of the Presidential Chancellery on Foreign Policy Cooperation: 'It will depend on the government and the Prime Minister.'

This [cooperation in Poland's foreign policy] will depend on whether the government, primarily Prime Minister Tusk, respects the president's prerogatives and the president's constitutional role, including participation in international relations and representing Poland abroad – stated Zbigniew Bogucki on the program ‘Pytanie dnia’ on TVP INFO.

If Donald Tusk respects the constitutional provisions – which, by the way, was discussed and reported by Minister Szefernaker after that conversation, during that brief press conference in front of the Presidential Palace – then it will be good. This means that Donald Tusk must understand that there is a constitution, and that this constitution binds both the President of the Republic of Poland and the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister has repeatedly violated this constitution – he continued.

The President was open to discussions; he spoke with many leaders of political factions, including those involved on the government side, in the ruling coalition. Unfortunately, until yesterday, Donald Tusk did not understand that he needed to talk to the President. Deputy Prime Minister Sikorski, i.e., the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, also saw no such need – that is very bad – Bogucki continued.

It is the President who today holds the freshest, strongest, and most powerful mandate from free democratic elections, and this situation has shown that for many months, this government, led by Donald Tusk, was unable to develop relations – good relations, even decent relations – with the administration in Washington. This is our strategic partner when it comes to security, energy security, but also economic development – concluded the Head of the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland.
