Petru on Hołownia’s words as a rhetorical figure:

There was no coup attempt.
- I watched the program because when I first heard it, I was surprised, but then I realized it was a rhetorical figure. To the best of my knowledge, there was no coup attempt, no one was persuaded to attempt a coup, and I am the last person to point out verbal slip-ups. Therefore, I treat this statement as such - stated Ryszard Petru in an interview with Arleta Zalewska on TVN24’s “Jeden na jeden”.

07:36

Petru:

A Coup d'état in Poland Occurred in 2015
- A coup d'état in Poland occurred in 2015, when PiS politicized the Constitutional Tribunal against the Constitution, then the neo-KRS was created, subsequently the Supreme Court was weakened by establishing a chamber that is illegal, and this has been confirmed by European courts. That was an attempted coup d'état - stated Ryszard Petru in TVN24's "One on One".

07:41

Petru on the Need to Return to the Roots:

Many People Are Upset With Us for Not Delivering on Promises.
- Unfortunately, in the recent period, and I say this with regret, it's not so much that we have strayed from it, but rather that we haven't been implementing our program. And if we don't return to that, I don't think there's much of a prospect. But if we return to the roots, and I'm not just talking about Poland 2050, but also about the entire coalition, meaning the implementation of the plan that was set for these 4 years. Many people are upset with us for not delivering on the promises we made 2 years ago. This is the key - stated Ryszard Petru on TVN24's "One on One" program.

07:46

Petru Asked About Meeting with Bielan:

We Met in Various Configurations in 2017.
- I can say that we met in various configurations in 2017. I don’t remember exactly where we met. There were different meeting configurations, as Adam Bielan was delegated along with Mr. Gowin for this type of meetings. From our side, it was me and Adam Szłapka, among others, and other people too. The aim was to end the protest in the Sejm – stated Ryszard Petru in TVN24’s “One on One.”

07:54

Petru:

I am convinced that Sikorski will be Prime Minister in the near future
- I am convinced that Radosław Sikorski will be Prime Minister in the near future. I don't want to say when, because that is already Civic Platform's decision. Mr. Sikorski's promotion to Deputy Prime Minister was not accidental - stated Ryszard Petru on TVN24's "Jeden na jeden". - If the government's and Donald Tusk's poll numbers do not significantly improve, then he is a rational politician and will be willing to hand over the baton to Radosław Sikorski, who will have new energy and is a fighter type - he continued.

07:57

Petru advises Hołownia:

Entering the government would be a perfect solution for him.
– At such a moment, one definitely takes a step back. That means less media activity, preparing a counteroffensive, and launching the counteroffensive within a month. Entering the government would certainly be a perfect solution for him [Szymon Hołownia], but it is his decision – stated Ryszard Petru in “Jeden na jeden” on TVN24.

08:23

Berek:

Prime Minister decided to end the work of the commission on Russian influence. It presented its final report
- Yes, this is the official decision that the Prime Minister made. The commission [for the examination of Russian and Belarusian influences] presented its final report and, in accordance with the adopted assumption, the commission was to be dissolved after presenting this report. The report has been submitted, the Prime Minister has decided to end the commission's work - said Maciej Berek in an interview with Marcin Fijołek on Polsat News' "Graffiti". When asked about the content of the report, he replied: - To the extent possible for communication, the commission's chairman [Gen. Jarosław Stróżyk] will provide information about it. But it is his competence to determine which of this information is publicly available and which is not. When asked about Sławomir Cenckiewicz's post regarding the liquidation of the commission, which simultaneously criticized its activities, he answered: - I would like to draw attention to this thread, which is perhaps characteristic of that team, about stuffing their pockets with money. It is exactly the opposite - because the commission worked without the possibility of receiving any remuneration for all state officials who were part of it. - I think that Mr. Cenckiewicz and anyone else commenting should first familiarize themselves thoroughly with the report and then refer to it - he added.

08:29

Krajewski:

I Am Not Afraid of the Green Deal
- No, I am not afraid of the Green Deal. A lot has been done within this Green Deal, simplifications, changes in eco-schemes – all of this was aimed at reaching farmers with a better offer - said Stefan Krajewski in the RMF FM's "Morning Conversation". - I have always said that there isn't a basket big enough to throw the Green Deal away, but it needs to be reformed, especially today, in this geopolitical situation, we should relax certain norms and restrictions - he continued.

08:34

Krajewski:

People Who Are Not Active Farmers Are Receiving Subsidies, and We Want to Change That
- People who are not active farmers are receiving [subsidies], and we want to change that - said Stefan Krajewski on RMF FM. - Yes [1.2 million receive subsidies from the cohesion fund], and national aid and other measures have shown that about 500,000 farmers are applying for this type of assistance, and it is they who reap the profits and bear the costs of management - he continued. - Exactly so [the law on active farmers], as one of the priorities, the project has already been submitted, I hope it will soon go to the government's work programming team and proceed to deliberation - he went on to say.

08:42

Krajewski:

The Mercosur Agreement Could Significantly Slow Down Polish Agriculture. Currently, We Don't Have a Blocking Minority
- It might not kill it, but significantly slow it down. Of course, we don't know all the arguments for and against here, because today there are more arguments against, as we stand with agriculture - said Stefan Krajewski on RMF FM, when asked if the Mercosur agreement could kill Polish agriculture. - Let's remember that these political agreements were made in 2019, because today the opposition criticizes us, holds us accountable for Mercosur - he continued. - As of today, we do not have [a blocking minority]. Of course, we have the best agreements with France, but I am also starting talks with Ireland, Austria, and Italy, where there are signals that there might be a similar position to ours. Belgium, we will discuss not signing the agreement in this form - he added.

08:48

Berek on ministry cuts in next year's budget:

The Minister of Finance sets a spending limit for everyone. This is a standard procedure.
- Work on the budget draft is proceeding normally. There is a schedule, which is also defined by regulations. Ministers have already received assumptions for next year's budget from the Minister of Finance, and now we are at the stage where each minister, the head of an office, is preparing a partial plan concerning their office, the institution they head - Maciej Berek said in "Graffiti" on Polsat News. - Based on these partial plans, the Minister of Finance later creates the budget bill. It will be prepared according to best practices and submitted to parliament, as required by the Constitution, by the end of September - he continued. When asked if ministers were suggested to find 20% cuts in their departments, he replied: - Each minister has received guidelines from the Minister of Finance, and this can be arranged differently in each budget area. The Minister of Finance sets so-called spending limits for the next year for each budget controller. This is a standard, ordinary procedure. - We do not have a comprehensive overview of the budget at the Council of Ministers level at this moment, because only the Minister of Finance is currently collecting this partial data. In a few weeks, it will be presented at a government meeting - he indicated.

08:49

Will Kołodziejczak Return to the Ministry of Agriculture as Deputy Minister? Krajewski: He Told Me He Doesn't Want To
- I can always invite my colleague Michał for coffee, to talk about it. In our phone conversation, when he congratulated me, he said he didn't want to return as minister, but he sees room for cooperation. If he has good ideas that he wants to help me implement, of course, I am available for discussion – said Stefan Krajewski on RMF FM, when asked if Michał Kołodziejczak would return to the Ministry of Agriculture.

08:58

Krajewski:

500+ for Everyone, 800+ for the Employed. We're Not Saying Completely Abolish Benefits for the Unemployed
- This is a topic we should agree on, discuss. As an idea, I think it's a good idea, because we need to restore the work ethic - said Stefan Krajewski on RMF FM, when asked about 800+ only for the employed. - We are aware that there are projects that should be agreed upon, because the time when each party tries to push only its own ideas should end, and then it ended in a brawl, a quarrel, and only the opposition, of course, rejoices in that - he continued. - We need to restore the work ethic. If someone cannot work, there are other social programs [...]. This is also one of the topics that should be considered [income criterion] [...] we are also not saying to completely take it away, because here it is 500+ for everyone, and 800 for the employed, that's what we talked about - he added.

09:07

Government Bill on Abortion Liberalization? Krajewski: No One Will Break My Spine
- On very important matters, no one will break my spine, and we have a position that everyone in this government knows, which is that we are in favour of returning to the abortion compromise - said Stefan Krajewski on RMF FM when asked if he would vote for a government bill liberalizing abortion. - I know [the Prime Minister's position regarding ministers not being able to vote against government decisions], I hope there will be no government projects that will decide whether someone can remain in this government or not, because this is truly all a matter for discussion and agreement - he continued.

09:09

Berek on Increasing the Tax-Free Allowance:

No Sooner Than After 2027.
- This is one of the projects [increasing the tax-free allowance to PLN 60,000], which we have discussed many times in terms of its concept and assumptions, because we all know that it is a very important commitment for a large group. [...] And Minister Domański has pointed out the massive financial consequences from the very beginning - said Maciej Berek on "Graffiti" Polsat News. Cost? PLN 60 billion As he indicated: - We are talking about tens of billions of zlotys, because that is how much it would cost, if I remember correctly, around PLN 60 billion. This is the annual cost of this solution. "No Sooner Than After 2027" - Following the discussions that have taken place, as the Prime Minister communicated yesterday, we are upholding this commitment, while stating that it may be realized no sooner than after 2027, or come into effect after 2027. However, naturally, we will try to present legislative solutions earlier - he emphasized. - A law could even be passed with a future effective date, because we can also proceed in this manner - he added. State of Public Finances and Defence Spending - The truth is also that we truly understood the state of public finances only when Minister Domański took over the Ministry of Finance and realized the facts. And it turned out to be much worse than he expected, much worse than it was portrayed in public discourse, in the propaganda of his predecessors. And unfortunately, he had to adapt to the conditions he manages. And the second circumstance, which has also been mentioned many times, [...] is the issue of continuously increasing defence spending - he stated.

10:57

Purchasing Power is Growing'. Domański on GUS Data Regarding Inflation:

Poles
Inflation in July fell to 3.1% from 4.1% in June. Wages are still rising – the latest reading was +9% for June. Poles' purchasing power is growing – wrote Andrzej Domański on social media.

11:10

Morawiecki Releases Video, Sharply Criticizing Government Over Deficit and Debt:

Let's Stop This Madness Before It's Too Late.
- Poland's public finances are today entering a very dangerous path. Of course, they are not entering it on their own; they are being steered onto this path by an irresponsible government. During our administration, despite the global turbulence, the deficit was kept in check. It averaged 2.7% of GDP. Now, according to the European Commission, it is expected to be more than twice as high, exceeding 6%, and that's not all. Public debt will soon exceed the constitutional threshold of 60%, and in two years, it could reach 67%. This is a headlong rush towards the abyss and a threat of state paralysis - says the narrator in a new clip published on social media by Mateusz Morawiecki. - Donald Tusk's irresponsible government has led to Poland accumulating an additional trillion zlotys in debt - the narrator continues. - Let's stop this madness before it's too late - he emphasizes.

11:20

Żurek:

I have no doubt that the rule of law has not yet been restored in Poland
- Of course, my priority will be to restore the rule of law, meaning we are not talking about what should be, but about how we can actually act to ensure this state of law is restored - said Waldemar Żurek at a press conference. As he pointed out: - I have no doubt that the rule of law has not yet been restored in Poland.

11:25

Żurek on the Rule of Law Act:

One of the First Decisions Was to Withdraw the Request from the Venice Commission.
- One of the first decisions was to withdraw the request from the Venice Commission, the so-called rule of law act, because I want to change the style of work on these acts concerning the restoration of the rule of law. We are already familiar with the opinions of the Venice Commission and this dialogue is ongoing. The projects that were in the final phase of preparation take into account a number of expectations from international bodies, including the Venice Commission - said Waldemar Żurek at a press conference. - But we are sitting down to work on the most important project for restoring the rule of law immediately. I have already had a meeting with representatives of the Codification Commission and the Legislative Department, which is the most important in the ministry when it comes to preparations for this reform, i.e., attempts to resolve the crisis in the judiciary - he continued. - For now, we are asking the commission, we are withdrawing the request, we will determine what happens next, what the final project will be, and I also don't want us to wait too long for it. So, this will probably be the first project we will focus on very intensively - he added.

11:36

Żurek:

I Dismissed 9 People from Delegations at the Ministry of Justice and 46 Court Presidents and Vice-Presidents Nationwide
- I can say that so far, since taking office, I have dismissed 9 people from delegations at the Ministry of Justice, and another one is awaiting signature. Regarding the positions of court presidents and vice-presidents, I have dismissed 46 individuals across the country - Waldemar Żurek stated at a press conference. - In my opinion, a judge who signed the so-called 'support lists' for the neo-KRS [...] should indeed have some reflection. A judge who participated in the competition, knowing that many other excellent individuals in the court were not competing before the neo-KRS, and also knowing that it is a body appointed contrary to our constitutional provisions concerning this institution, should have some reflection - he continued. - I am not here to judge these individuals, but rather I want to select colleagues about whom I have a guarantee that the difficult reforms that await us will be implemented, and that there will be no form of sabotage - he further elaborated.

11:37

Tusk:

We Had to Oust PiS to Free Polish Families from High Prices
- Inflation sharply down! We had to oust PiS to free Polish families from high prices, just as we freed Poland from the mass influx of migrants and pervasive corruption, orchestrated from above by Kaczyński and Morawiecki. This is why we won the elections on October 15 - Prime Minister Donald Tusk wrote on social media.

12:02

Continued Support for Ukraine and "Unresolved Historical Issues": Nawrocki Discusses Matters with Zelensky
- President-elect Karol Nawrocki held a telephone conversation today with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The call was made at the request of the Ukrainian President. President Zelensky congratulated Karol Nawrocki on his victory in the presidential elections - informed Rafał Leśkiewicz, spokesperson for the President-elect, on the X platform. As indicated: - Karol Nawrocki emphasized that cooperation between the two countries must be based on mutual respect and true partnership. - The President-elect confirmed continued support for Ukraine in connection with the ongoing war, which is a result of the aggression of the Russian Federation. Russia is a neo-imperial and colonial state, ruled by a war criminal such as Vladimir Putin. Therefore, Ukraine, fighting against the Kremlin regime, can count on Poland's support - it reads. - Historical policy was an important topic of the conversation. Karol Nawrocki stressed that he is the voice of the Nation, which demands a change in Ukraine's approach to important and hitherto unresolved historical issues. This should change. The President-elect announced that historical issues will be the subject of further talks with the President of Ukraine - writes the spokesperson.

12:29

Żurek on the KRS: This body draws huge funds from the budget for remuneration, which in my opinion is not deserved
- I haven't mentioned one more aspect related to the so-called National Council of the Judiciary yet. You know that Poland is losing, has lost, and will continue to lose cases of citizens before the ECHR. These generate compensation that we all pay [...]. This is compensation not paid from the budget of the European court, which is also our court, but from the budget of Polish taxpayers - said Waldemar Żurek at a press conference. - We must adapt to these rulings and we must implement them. Now is a time of suspension, but the case of "Wałęsa v. Poland", fundamental and crucial, obliges us to implement these rulings. These are international agreements that bind Poland, and I will put into effect the implementation of these rulings because the Polish taxpayer suffers from this - he announced. - If someone tells me: "let some supposed body in Poland work". No, ladies and gentlemen, this body draws huge funds from the budget for remuneration, which in my opinion is not deserved, and moreover, if someone goes through the procedure before this body and comes out, and sits in a judge's robe at the bench, the result is a complaint, compensation. 10 thousand euros, 30 thousand euros, for each case. There are hundreds of such cases at the Tribunal - he continued. - So if someone tells me that we should reach some compromise, I think the following: people who generate this compensation should stop doing so. There are different concepts of commission, complicity, aiding and abetting. These are criminal concepts, but it is not for me to judge them - he continued.

12:50

Żurek:

We Say 'First President of the Supreme Court,' but I Want Us to Get Used to the Terminology 'Acting First President of the SN'
- I would also ask you to try to look at the terminology we use. We say 'First President of the Supreme Court,' but I want us to get used to the terminology 'acting First President of the SN,' 'acting President of the National Council of the Judiciary' - said Waldemar Żurek at a press conference. - Because these individuals are indeed performing these duties, but I again have a series of rulings and doctrinal views that these individuals were improperly appointed. That someone who is not a properly appointed judge of the SN cannot be the First President. I would ask you, who also play a role in educating society, to take this into account. I will adhere to this and will be consistent on this matter - he said, addressing the journalists.

12:57

Żurek Withdraws His Lawsuits Against the State Treasury:

The Situation Was Awkward.
- Still on Friday, immediately after my nomination [as Minister of Justice], I withdrew my civil lawsuits against the State Treasury, against the Minister of Justice. I can say that my legal representatives worked very hard because over these years there were many harassments and persecutions. These lawsuits were very extensive, the documentation enormous, so I can only thank them for their work - said Waldemar Żurek at a press conference. As he explained: - I decided that this situation was awkward and my personal rights, to which I am entitled like any citizen, are set aside in this situation. Because I have to carry out my mission and it would be awkward for me if I had to participate in this.

14:21

Szejna Departs Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Confirmation Received.
Andrzej Szejna has concluded his work at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as Deputy Minister. As he stated, from now on, @AndrzejSzejna represents the supreme authority, namely the Sejm of the Republic of Poland.

15:56

Ziobro on Żurek’s conference:

What can you expect from a man who didn’t hesitate to demand alimony back from his own child?
- What can you expect from a man who didn’t hesitate to demand alimony back from his own child? This man can only surprise us by not showing contempt for facts and truth and arrogance as often as he has repeatedly shown, but he didn’t surprise us. He approached the law, the Constitution, and facts just as arbitrarily as he has done on more than one occasion, with certainty in his voice and conviction; perhaps he even believes what he says. It helps a certain category of people to believe, even when they tell lies and commit villainy – stated Zbigniew Ziobro at a press conference.

15:56

Ziobro announces a prosecutor's office complaint regarding Żurek's actions:

With his decisions, he has already committed his first offenses.
"With his decisions, he has already committed his first offenses, in connection with which we will file a notification with the prosecutor's office, which he now oversees, but what is recorded will remain in the registers, the statute of limitations is long, and the time will come for the enforcement of criminal law in Poland, also against former judge Żurek" - stated Zbigniew Ziobro at a press conference. "Minister Żurek has, in our assessment, committed an offense by deciding to dismiss presidents, suspend presidents and vice-presidents of courts. Firstly, because he did so based on solutions that were challenged by a judgment issued in an open hearing by the Constitutional Tribunal last year" - he continued.

16:07

Ziobro:

We're giving Żurek until Friday to reflect and make the right decision
Until Friday evening, until the end of the day, we are giving Mr. Żurek time to reflect and make the right decision. To enable, to allow Prosecutor Barski to be contacted and to enable him to take up his duties. Because he is not doing anyone any favors if he does so, he is merely fulfilling his duty, as Poles have the right to use the most important body responsible in Poland for enforcing and overseeing the law – stated Zbigniew Ziobro at a press conference.

16:39

Sikorski as Deputy Prime Minister: Mentzen - "Either it's the start of his further career, or an attempt to derail him. Whatever happens, Tusk will benefit."
- What are the possibilities: the first is that the Platforma, its coalition partners, Tusk himself, may even realize that the Prime Minister needs to be changed to have a chance of retaining power in the next election, and then Sikorski's move from Deputy Prime Minister to Prime Minister is a bit more natural. Or perhaps it's just about improving the government's image, Tusk's image, at Sikorski's expense - Sławomir Mentzen said on his YouTube channel. - When Sikorski is currently the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he distances himself from this government, he doesn't deal with current domestic affairs, he doesn't do unpopular things for which he might lose points. He travels around the world, criticizes Germans, Russians, and other people, and Poles like it - he continued. - Many more people like Sikorski than Tusk. So, at the moment when Tusk brings him into the government, burdens him with responsibility for the government's actions on the one hand, prevents him from distancing himself from the government of which he is Deputy Prime Minister, and on the other hand, benefits from Sikorski's good reputation, thus improving the government's image at Sikorski's expense - he went on to say. - Either this is the beginning of Sikorski's further career, or it is an attempt by Tusk to derail Sikorski, to entangle him in all the things that will be done over the next two years by the government [...] in my opinion, this move is clever, and whatever happens, Tusk will benefit from it - he added.

16:44

Szefernaker Announces Nawrocki's Meetings with Poles Immediately After Swearing-In
- The swearing-in ceremony for President Karol Nawrocki will take place in Warsaw on August 6th. From the very first day after his inauguration, Karol Nawrocki will embark on meetings with Poles, where he will present the first draft laws he discussed during his election campaign. A meeting in Kalisz is scheduled for August 7th, and another in Kolbuszowa on August 8th - wrote Paweł Szefernaker on social media.

16:50

Mentzen on PiS's Approach to the NIK Head Position:

It's Such a Devastation of the State That Words Fail Me.
- I don't know the person [Mariusz Haładyj] at all, but when they announced that he was the candidate for head of NIK, even some PiS members like Janusz Cieszyński were happy - said Sławomir Mentzen on his YouTube channel. - One might suspect that PiS would support this person for the head of NIK. [...] Fogiel replies: because it's a moral issue, because since he agreed to take this position thanks to Donald Tusk's government's majority, he thereby loses the right to be a moral person, to be a good candidate - he continued. - This is the devastation of the state. We should be happy that an important position will not be held by some party official, but by a person as independent as possible, who is hard to align with any side. There should be as many such people as possible. When there is finally a chance for such a person to appear, PiS says no. Since he wants to build a career under Donald Tusk's government, he is a bad person and such things should not happen. This is such a devastation of the state that I lack the words to describe it - he went on to say.

16:59

Mentzen:

Legal Migration is Also a Problem. PiS Doesn't Understand This at All
- The problem isn't just illegal migration; legal migration is also a problem. From the perspective of a murder victim, it makes no difference whether they are murdered by a legal or illegal immigrant; it's the exact same person who simply shouldn't be here in Poland - Sławomir Mentzen stated on his YouTube channel. - We shouldn't be opening up to immigration from Colombia, from Venezuela, from Africa, regardless of whether it's legal or illegal migration - he continued. - It's like saying that alcoholism is a big problem in Poland, that people drinking vodka daily is a big problem, but only if they are drinking vodka without excise duty, and if they drink vodka with excise duty, then everything is fine, let them guzzle that vodka. Well, no, alcoholism is bad, regardless of whether it stems from drinking excisable vodka or non-excisable vodka - he went on to say. - It's exactly the same with immigrants. These people from Colombia simply shouldn't be here. Crime statistics in Colombia are alarming. It's not normal for us to admit people from a country where violence, bomb explosions, and street shootings are simply a daily occurrence. We don't want Colombians here in Poland, and we shouldn't let them in, regardless of whether they are legal or illegal - he added. - PiS doesn't understand this at all. Now they are again organizing a march against, attention, illegal immigration. This means they have no problem with Colombians entering Poland who then rape, murder, and set fire to shopping centers. They have no problem with Moldovans appearing legally, who previously served an 8-year sentence for murder in Moldova - he emphasized.

17:07

Tusk on Żurek's actions:

This is just the warm-up.
"I don't know what all the fuss is about Minister Żurek's actions. This is just the warm-up" - Prime Minister Donald Tusk wrote on social media.

17:11

President-Elect Announces Names:

I Have Completed Work on the Chancellery Structure.
- I have completed work on the chancellery structure. Thank you for today's meeting and substantive discussions - wrote President-elect Karol Nawrocki on social media. Karol Rabenda – responsible for the areas of energy, development, and strategic projects. Mateusz Kotecki – responsible for social affairs and intervention measures. - Another stage of service to Poland lies ahead of us - Nawrocki emphasized.

18:13

Minister Żurek vs. "Podlasie Moonshine". President Duda Publishes Video
- Remember that video from the pandemic times? Today, Minister Żurek plays the role of the "coronavirus". Mr. Prime Minister - wrote President Andrzej Duda on X, publishing a video in which the "coronavirus" is knocked out by "Podlasie moonshine".

19:57

Mastalerek on Żurek:

He Was Appointed Solely to Politically Satisfy the Twitter Bubble of 'Silni Razem.'
- I think Waldemar Żurek is a special minister with a special ministry. It should be called the Ministry for 'Silni Razem.' He was appointed solely for this purpose by Donald Tusk, to politically satisfy the Twitter bubble of 'Silni Razem.' This is the base of Civic Platform and its most committed electorate, and that is precisely why Judge Żurek is a minister. He has no other tasks, he will put on a show, organize conferences, and do everything to prevent 'Silni Razem' from turning away from Donald Tusk and moving to an even more radical party - stated Marcin Mastalerek on Polsat News' "Gość Wydarzeń".

19:59

Mastalerek on Tusk:

It’s Because of Him That Nawrocki Won the Presidential Election
- I would just like to remind Donald Tusk, because he may have forgotten, that it was because of him that Karol Nawrocki won the presidential election, and Rafał Trzaskowski lost it. It’s obvious that it was because of Donald Tusk. People in the second round voted against Donald Tusk’s government - stated Marcin Mastalerek on Polsat News’ „Gość Wydarzeń”.

20:02

Mastalerek on the Dispute Surrounding the Constitutional Tribunal:

Civic Platform Started It.
- I was a parliamentarian back then and I remember precisely how this conflict began. Well, Civic Platform chose more judges for the Constitutional Tribunal than they were entitled to. And while President Duda was receiving the certificate from the National Electoral Commission (PKW) in Wilanów for his presidential election, the President warned the parliamentary majority, led by Ewa Kopacz as Prime Minister. They were the ones who chose first, then Jarosław Kaczyński responded and did the same, but it was Civic Platform that started it - stated Marcin Mastalerek on Polsat News's "Gość Wydarzeń".

20:08

Mastalerek on PiS:

I Understand There Has Been a Complete Change of Strategy.
- I understand there has been a complete change of strategy, 180 degrees, and now there is still faith that this coalition partner will not be needed, that PiS alone will get over 40% and simply win the elections. But if PiS had behaved during Karol Nawrocki’s election campaign towards Konfederacja as it is now, Konfederacja voters would never have voted against Tusk and for Karol Nawrocki. Sometimes it’s worth enduring for 2 years at least, if not 14 – stated Marcin Mastalerek in “Gość Wydarzeń” on Polsat News.

Mastalerek on Nawrocki's Announced Route:

A Very Good Principle, That Is, Keeping One's Word.
- I think this is a very good principle, that is, keeping one's word, because Karol Nawrocki spoke about it during the election campaign, and President Trump also set good examples, who from the very beginning, from the first day of his presidency, of course, having executive power in his hands, began signing various decisions and was simply very active - stated Marcin Mastalerek in "Gość Wydarzeń" on Polsat News.

Mastalerek:

Setting Out Can Also Lead to Losses. Komorowski Once Set Out Across Poland and Lost
- Just going out into the field has never made anyone stronger. You can set out and lose by doing so. For example, Bronisław Komorowski once set out across Poland and lost – stated Marcin Mastalerek on "Gość Wydarzeń" (Guest of Events) on Polsat News.

Żurek:

There can be no protective umbrella over people from the political world
- Of course, I would like to say that it will accelerate the restoration of the rule of law. And I understand the rule of law as such that everyone, regardless of whether they are a top-level politician, a local government politician, or a citizen who breaks the law, must bear responsibility - stated Waldemar Żurek in "Question of the Day" on TVP INFO, when asked about the plan to restore legality. - I think this is the most irritating thing for the citizens of our country, who are sometimes pursued by various state institutions for minor offenses, while here we see very serious charges, we see piles of evidence, documents, testimonies, and it turns out there is no effect - he continued. - We don't see these people in court, we don't see prosecutorial charges. And the citizen has the impression that there is some strange umbrella over people from the political world, that once you get in there, nothing can be done to you. And this creates a fatal perception in the state, so indeed, one of my goals is acceleration, but everything must happen in accordance with the rule of law - added the Minister of Justice.

Żurek on Politicians' Impunity:

We Cannot Operate Like This.
- I don't want to personalize, because I am facing various decisions that will demonstrate the effectiveness of the state, and I hope everyone will notice these actions of mine. But we see, it struck me very much, and I must say this, because I come from Małopolska, where there is a concentration camp - stated Waldemar Żurek in "Pytanie dnia" on TVP INFO, when asked about the plan to restore the rule of law. - And earlier we saw a series of his actions for which any person, had they committed them, would probably already be either in the lock-up, in custody, or before a court. And we see this impunity. Well, we cannot operate like this. This is something so corrupting for the functioning of the state, and it is indeed what personally affected me the most. Members of my extended family died in that camp many years ago, and when I see this impunity and such irritation from people from various circles, I feel that something must change in our state - he continued.

Żurek on Bodnar:

We certainly had different visions for solving these problems.
- We certainly had different visions for solving these problems, which were created by an authoritarian state that was systematically built. However, I will certainly never say a bad word about Adam Bodnar. He had an incredibly difficult mission. It also seems to me that I have vast experience in how the justice system works. And this experience is needed in what remains today in the Ministry of Justice or in the National Public Prosecutor's Office building - stated Waldemar Żurek in "Question of the Day" on TVP INFO, when asked about the activities of his predecessor as Minister of Justice. - This certainly helps me, but I would not want to be placed in any opposition here. I am counting on Adam Bodnar, who remains an extremely important figure in public life, to support the actions I undertake - he continued. - The decisions I made today were truly thought out. The most important thing, I think, for the recipients is the consistency of decisions. That is, if I consider some body to be improperly appointed and not meeting the requirements of our Constitution, then I must be consistent - he added.

Żurek on re-counting votes:

If I see these arguments are justified, I will recommend recounting votes in other commissions too.
- The prosecutor's office is currently conducting, as far as I know, 19 investigations to determine if there were any electoral falsifications in certain commissions. I will be observing these investigations, but I also know that other electoral commissions are being indicated where an investigation might be warranted. So, certainly, if I see that these arguments are justified, I will recommend recounting these votes in other commissions as well. This is one decision I will make, but I will make it when I see what the reality is in these investigations. I certainly would like to, and I have already sent a letter today to the National Electoral Commission - stated Waldemar Żurek in "Pytanie dnia" (Question of the Day) on TVP INFO, when asked about recounting votes in the presidential elections. - I certainly would like the results that have been recounted and the actual votes to be reflected on the electoral commissions' websites and in the results published by the National Electoral Commission, because it seems to me an absurd and very incomprehensible situation for a citizen that votes were counted correctly, errors were caught, and the citizen still goes to their electoral commission's website and sees that the result is the same as before the recount, i.e., with flaws - he added. - I also have no illusions, because I worked in an electoral commission as a young judge, I saw elections up close, that mistakes always happen, but mistakes are one thing, and deliberate actions are another. I would also like to examine the issues concerning the applications that are alleged to have influenced the outcome - he continued.

Żurek:

In the Current Legal State, We Must Apply the Constitution Directly
- I would like to change that, but I also don't want to speak before acting. Because I must act strictly in accordance with the law. Only we have different understandings of this law here. And I would like to say literally two sentences about that, because everyone says: well yes, but we have a statute. I don't want to give an example that is difficult, but it must be spoken about. There were Nuremberg laws once adopted by fascist Germany, which were in accordance with the parliament's decision. At that time, even Germany did not have a Constitutional Tribunal - stated Waldemar Żurek in "Question of the Day" on TVP INFO. - And in our case, there is the theory of statutory compliance, i.e., the presumption of statutory compliance with the Constitution. I spoke about this today at a press conference. Everyone believes that this is absolutely inviolable, that if there is a statute that has not yet been challenged in the tribunal or the tribunal has not ruled on it, then it is compliant with the Constitution, and we must apply it. I say that this theory of law appeals to me greatly, but only when there is a functioning Constitutional Tribunal, because it is written in the Constitution as the quality controller of law - he continued. - But at the moment when this tribunal was shattered, and after the Xero Flor v. Poland case, we already know, we talked about it, now we know for sure, because we have jurisprudence that binds us, that judges are not sitting there who form a court, and therefore there is no ruling. So we do not have the presumption of statutory compliance with the Constitution, and therefore we must apply the Constitution directly - he emphasized.
