Berek on Personal Assistance: The Timing and Scale of Implementing This Solution Must Be Adjusted to What is Budgetarily Realistic
- Regarding the bill, the draft bill on personal assistance, in its original version presented at the stage of the Permanent Committee of the Council of Ministers, for which I am responsible, it was a poorly prepared draft – said Maciej Berek on "Gość Radia ZET".
- In order to be able to work on it further, we appointed a special team, we involved legislators from the Government Legislation Centre, who worked together with the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy, with representatives of Minister Krason on this project. This work is nearing completion, the legal construction of this text will be ready in the coming days – he continued.
- The key, fundamental issue remains related to the fact that this is a very costly project, as the estimated annual costs are around 5-6 billion PLN. […] However, knowing our current budgetary constraints, we will consider this when we have finished our work on the project. A project ready to be presented to the government and parliament. We will consider what decision to make – he continued.
- One of the solutions that can be applied here is to appropriately set the timing for when this system begins to take effect. [...] [Personal assistance] is a solution that is undoubtedly socially very much needed. However, the timing of its implementation and its scale must be adjusted to what is budgetarily realistic – he indicated.
