Friday's Political Agenda: New Government Cabinet Discusses National Security Strategy, Tusk Meets NATO's Supreme Allied Commander, and the Sejm Concludes its Session
First Session of the Government in its New Composition At 10:00 AM, the Council of Ministers will hold its session – the first in its new composition. The agenda primarily includes the National Security Strategy of the Republic of Poland, as well as a draft resolution authorizing the Minister of National Defence to submit a Declaration (Call for Expression of Interest) regarding the Republic of Poland's engagement in actions to obtain financial assistance from the European Union under the "Security Action for Europe (SAFE)" instrument. The government will also address one deregulation project – an amendment to the Act on Spatial Planning and Development, as well as, among other things, a draft resolution on the adoption of the Country Development Concept 2050. Last Day of the Sejm's Session The Sejm will resume its proceedings at 9:00 AM with the second reading of the draft amendment to the Act on Public Healthcare Services and the Act on Medical Activities. At 10:15 AM, questions on current matters will commence, and at 12:30 PM – a current information session, at the request of the Civic Coalition (KO) club, regarding the summary of the government's deregulation efforts to date and their effects. At 2:00 PM, a more than two-hour voting block will begin, during which, among other things, two resolutions will be considered: one condemning statements undermining the truth about the Holocaust tragedy, and another condemning the denial of Nazi genocide crimes during World War II. A preliminary motion to bring Maciej Świrski before the State Tribunal is also expected to be voted on. At 4:15 PM, the Sejm will hear the report on the activities of the Supreme Audit Office in 2024, and at 5:15 PM – it will address information on the implementation of the Act on Special Economic Zones. Tusk Meets with NATO's Supreme Allied Commander Today – according to the Prime Minister's words – the new Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) of NATO forces, American General Alexus Grynkewich, will arrive in Poland. Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that the discussions will cover, among other things, the growing threat from Russia and preparations for potential global conflicts. Pegasus Investigative Committee At 10:00 AM, the Pegasus investigative committee will question Marek Utracki, former Deputy Head of the Military Counterintelligence Service. At 12:00 PM, the questioning will continue in a closed session.

08:12

Sienkiewicz:

Nothing is determined. 2027 is as within reach for the right as it is for our coalition
- I perfectly understand and identify with the Prime Minister's comparison, when he spoke about burning bridges, about only moving forward - Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz said in Polsat News's 'Graffiti', referring to Donald Tusk's words. - Because nothing is determined. 2027, as an election year, is as within reach for the right-wing camp, even if united with Konfederacja, as it is for the coalition of October 15th - he assessed. - Nothing is determined, and it seems to me that this is a very strong signal, which shows precisely this obvious truth in politics - he added.

08:16

Sienkiewicz Critiques Bodnar:

The Last Year Was Wasted.
- It’s obvious that this [government reconstruction] is a reset. But let’s also say it openly, the significance of this reconstruction wouldn't be so great if it weren’t for the changes in one key position, which was the position of the Minister of Justice - Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz said on Polsat News’ “Graffiti”.

- I critically assess this period. I believe that this past year has been wasted from the perspective of the logic of the rule of law and the general sense of justice. And this absolutely weighs on Minister Bodnar's record - he stated.

08:26

Berek on Żurek's Role:

The Process of Restoring the Rule of Law Must Be Completed.
- The Minister of Justice has a very difficult role, bridging very distinct and broadly outlined challenges. Because on the one hand, yes, the rule of law must be fully restored, the process of restoring the rule of law must be completed, and we must resist what is happening now, when attempts are made to twist concepts, when those who broke the law try to intimidate those who are putting the law back on its feet, by threatening them with accountability - stated Maciej Berek on PR3.

08:34

Berek on judicial reforms:

This is truly the biggest challenge.
- People want faster, more effectively functioning courts. This is truly the biggest challenge. Both of these tasks are equally important: re-establishing, restoring those values that constitute the rule of law, and holding accountable those who have violated the law, along with greater dynamism, significant dynamism, so that court proceedings, procedures, and the functioning of courts begin to yield results - stated Maciej Berek on PR3.

08:35

Sienkiewicz's sharp criticism of Bodnar:

I am extremely critical of his achievements. He didn't touch Law and Justice people in the prosecution.
- Let me give an example. We have prosecutor Wrzosek, who at a critical moment prevented PiS (Law and Justice party) from reaching a situation where someone like Kurski would still be running public media. And Ms. Prosecutor Wrzosek, who showed extraordinary courage then, has an ongoing investigation, conducted by Minister Ziobro's closest associate. It has been ongoing for 1.5 years, nothing is happening in this investigation, she hasn't even been questioned, but it's there, constantly hanging like the sword of Damocles - Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz said on Polsat News' "Graffiti". - And let's take another prosecutor, Mr. Ziarkiewicz, in whose garage all the case files that PiS wanted to hide because they were compromising for them were discovered. State papers in a garage. And it took a year to lift the immunity of this PiS prosecutor - immunity, not an indictment, a referral to court, anything else - he continued. "I am extremely critical of his achievements" - On the one hand, we have a person who fought for the public interest. On the other hand, we have a man who openly broke the law and is practically impunity. This is, in fact, the legacy Adam Bodnar leaves behind. I am extremely critical of his achievements - he stated. - I understand the congratulations he received [from the Prime Minister], because every good boss is courteous to his subordinates, especially when saying goodbye. But Adam Bodnar has spoken many times about the independence of the prosecution, and it was indeed independent of him - but dependent on PiS prosecutors - he assessed. "This is a matter of clear resistance from PiS circles within the prosecution, whom Bodnar did not touch" - I don't understand, I won't delve into the intentions, how much of it was lack of courage, how much opportunism. It's not my business. […] No one is talking about any shortcuts. The things Mr. Bodnar mentioned in his post, that the prosecution must do one, two, three, four, are true, and no one disputes that. However, a year's delay in any action? This is not a matter of procedures, it is simply a matter of clear resistance from PiS circles within the prosecution, whom Mr. Bodnar did not touch - indicated the KO (Civic Coalition) MEP.

08:36

Leśkiewicz:

I Am Convinced a Nawrocki-Tusk Meeting Will Happen Soon
- Everything depends on whether Donald Tusk wants to meet with the President-elect - Rafał Leśkiewicz said in the 'Morning Interview' on RMF FM, when asked if Karol Nawrocki would meet with Prime Minister Donald Tusk before the swearing-in ceremony. - [Karol Nawrocki] could extend an invitation - he continued. - I am convinced that a meeting between the President-elect and Donald Tusk will take place in the near future. First, the President-elect met with representatives of political groupings present in the Sejm who wanted to meet with the President-elect, so if Donald Tusk wants to meet with the President-elect, then this meeting will happen - he went on to say. - It would be best if Mr. Donald Tusk proposed a meeting to the President-elect - he added.

08:41

"Concrete Tasks to Be Accomplished." Berek on a "List of Specific Topics"
- Yes, security, a sense of security, access to healthcare, effective access, and fear of price increases are areas that always emerge in public opinion polls as particularly important to people. However, the work I have to do with my team will, within these and other areas, pinpoint very specific tasks that are to be accomplished. We will set a timeframe – stated Maciej Berek on PR3. - We will want to show what needs to be done in the short term, medium term, and also in the longer term. We would like to agree on a list of specific topics, not presented as very general slogans, but as concrete tasks to be accomplished – he continued.

08:42

Leśkiewicz:

Wałęsa's Absence from Nawrocki's Swearing-in? He Treats Voters, the Presidency, and Parliamentarians with Disregard
- The National Assembly and the swearing-in of the president, looking at this gathering, at this ceremony, objectively, it is a celebration of Polish democracy - Rafał Leśkiewicz said on RMF FM. - Lech Wałęsa's absence indicates that he, firstly, treats with disregard the voters who decided to elect Karol Nawrocki as President of the Republic; secondly, he treats the office of president with disregard; and thirdly, he treats the Members of Parliament and Senators who will gather as part of the National Assembly on August 6th at 10 AM in the Polish parliament with disregard - he continued.

08:43

Berek on 100 Concrete Actions:

Some Were Partially Implemented, Others Not.
- Some were partially implemented, others were not. There is a coalition agreement and 100 concrete actions, no one has withdrawn from these commitments, and I see our work in this way too, drawing from those documents as well as from our current experience, to select a short list of matters that we will deliver - stated Maciej Berek on PR3.

08:45

Leśkiewicz:

Nawrocki Will Certainly Meet with Sikorski and Ask About Foreign Policy Directions
- A meeting between Karol Nawrocki and Radosław Sikorski will certainly take place; after August 6th, President Karol Nawrocki will certainly meet with Minister Radosław Sikorski, with Deputy Prime Minister Radosław Sikorski as of yesterday, and will ask him about foreign policy directions - Rafał Leśkiewicz said on RMF FM. - A minister responsible for international policy will also be appointed in the Presidential Chancellery, Mr. Marcin Przydacz, who will cooperate with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on an ongoing basis - he continued.

08:54

Leśkiewicz:

During the government's swearing-in, Tusk admitted Poland was not governed by the rule of law in recent months
- For now, we are observing calmly what happened yesterday; some of these appointments are indeed very surprising - Rafał Leśkiewicz said on RMF FM, when asked how the president-elect views the government's reconstruction. - I think not only I, but many were surprised by the nomination of Waldemar Żurek as Minister of Justice and the consecration of Adam Bodnar [...] we are not looking at this with concern; we are very curious to see how this government will begin to function - he continued. - Yesterday, Prime Minister Donald Tusk, during the government's swearing-in at the Presidential Palace, referred to, and in fact reviewed, the activities of Donald Tusk's first government, saying that now the rule of law needs to be restored, which means he confirmed what many have been saying: that for the last several months Poland has not been a country governed by the rule of law - he added.

09:05

Nawrocki's Actions to Address Defamation Against Him and His Loved Ones. Leśkiewicz Announces Legal Proceedings
- Let's wait a moment longer. A lawsuit has been filed, for instance, against Onet, both civil and criminal, and this lawsuit is currently in court, meaning two cases will proceed. There will also be other actions by Karol Nawrocki related to the defamation directed at him and his loved ones - Rafał Leśkiewicz stated on RMF FM. - Cases will be submitted to the courts. [...] We are talking about matters that have emerged recently, those following the election results and the scandalous statements concerning Karol Nawrocki and his family - he continued. - I will mention one case from last week. Karol Nawrocki appeared last week, on Friday, in Murowana Goślina at a beautiful historical event called 'Eagle and Cross'. [...] At one point, while meeting with volunteers, with children participating in this performance, he picked up one little girl onto his shoulders [...]. Did you see the comments that appeared under that photo? What disgusting, vulgar, pedophilic content commented on that photograph? This cannot be left unaddressed, because it's not just about the president, but also about the girl's parents and the girl herself, and these are the kinds of issues we are discussing - he went on to say.

09:09

CPK, Tax Shield, and Agricultural Matters: Leśkiewicz on Nawrocki's First Legislative Initiatives
- The first initiative is CPK. Immediately after the inauguration, essentially the next day, August 7th, the President will present a bill on CPK, and then there will be others [...]. The tax shield and agricultural matters – we will also discuss their details in the coming days. [...] The final touches are being made to the legislative drafts, and it's for this reason, among others, that Karol Nawrocki met with Marshal Szymon Hołownia yesterday – Rafał Leśkiewicz told RMF FM. - Among other things, the Marshal explained how the Sejm processes bills that are submitted by the President to the Marshal's desk – he continued.

A Testament to Polish-American Friendship: $4 Billion Loan, Kosiniak-Kamysz Signs Agreement
Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz has signed an agreement for the United States to provide Poland with a loan guarantee under the Foreign Military Financing program. According to the Ministry of National Defence (MON), under the program, the USA will grant Poland a credit guarantee amounting to $4 billion, with these funds earmarked for the modernization of the Polish army. "This is another great moment for Poland – a confirmation of the strongest Polish-American alliance in history, of Polish-American friendship, of our transatlantic relations, of Poland as the United States' best friend in Europe. Trust is placed in friends, help is given to friends, guarantees are given to friends," said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz. "Once again, we are receiving guarantees from the US government, confirmed by a decision of the US Congress. We are very proud of this, very grateful. We are ready to utilize these funds in the best way we can for the transformation and modernization of the Polish army, for building the strongest defence capabilities in Europe," he continued. "A meeting with the Secretary responsible for Foreign Military Financing – a program that is absolutely amazing, an extraordinary program on a global scale, and Poland is its biggest beneficiary. There is no other country in the world like it. This means that this friendship is authentic and confirmed by facts," he indicated.

10:20

Tusk during a government session:

I am very pleased that we will begin our cooperation in a fighting spirit.
We are in a new composition, a partially new composition. I am very pleased that we will begin this cooperation in a fighting spirit, just as I have noted with satisfaction in recent days and hours, the debutants from this hall are truly full of energy and faith in their own strength. This also gives me courage and additional energy for the coming months and years - stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk during the government session.

10:21

Tusk on Government Downsizing:

I'm Satisfied with the First Stage.
I wasn't sure if everyone had made it here, because there are clearly fewer of us. So, one of the postulates that guided us during this reconstruction, not just this time but also in the future, was to limit the number of positions and officials to the essential size – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk during a government meeting. We still have a considerable perspective ahead of us when it comes to government downsizing efforts, but even now I can say that I am satisfied with this first stage. Naturally, we still have the review of your subordinate ministries ahead of us, and there too we will be looking, not forcefully of course, but together for the rationalization of our actions and structures, so that they are as efficient as possible, but at the same time as cost-effective as possible, where those costs are unnecessary – he continued.

10:25

Tusk:

A Government Session is Not a Discussion Club
- You will have the opportunity in the coming days and weeks to present our joint plans and your personal ideas, and this new contribution to the government's program, publicly as well. I had discussions, when we were preparing these changes, with each of the ladies and gentlemen ministers who are starting our joint work today, and I want to warn you, especially the newcomers, that the work on preparing each government session is work that takes place every day - stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk during a government session. - A government session is not a discussion club. Those who have worked with me for a long time know that this is not a virtue I most desire, that is, speaking on every matter and on every topic. We are here to solve the problems that arise and make decisions, and the times for discussion and presenting valid opinions on everything are before the government session, after the government session, but not in this room, and those who have worked with me longer know that this is in everyone's interest, not just mine - he continued.

10:31

During a Government Meeting:

From the Next Sejm Session." Tusk "Reminds Everyone of a Principle
- I just want to remind everyone of a principle. It has actually accompanied us from the very beginning, but perhaps it hasn't always been so strictly adhered to. This principle, I want to state this very clearly, consists of obvious discipline within the Council of Ministers and among ministers and deputy ministers as a single team - stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk during a government meeting. - I understand there can be disputes within the coalition; parliament is for arguing and debating, but I want to say that from the next Sejm session, not the one today, what has happened until today, let's leave it at that, but from the next Sejm session, none of the ladies and gentlemen ministers can vote differently than we have jointly decided as a government regarding government projects - he continued.

10:33

"The Next Day We Will Say Goodbye." Tusk to Ministers About "Clear Rules"
It is better to have clear rules from the very beginning. This means that each of you, ladies and gentlemen, if the idea comes to mind to vote against the common position of the government, the next day we will say goodbye, and I am saying this deliberately publicly, so that there are no exceptions to this rule. This is an automatism – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk during a government meeting.

10:37

Tusk on Tax System Simplification as Part of Deregulation Phase II:

Let's Do the Impossible.
- Let's do the impossible, meaning simplifying the tax system in Poland. I realize we won't achieve this in a week, but I want Poland to be among the countries with the simplest business and tax systems, not among those with the most complicated ones, to the extent possible – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk during a government session.

10:43

Tusk on Accelerating Accountability:

Today Poland Also Needs a Strong Prosecutor General.
We all had the conviction that restoring the rule of law is a twofold process. Firstly, restoring standards regarding human rights, judicial reforms, unblocking the KPO by demonstrating that Poland is returning to the tracks of the rule of law, and this was very difficult because it required hard legislative work, it required the president’s consent, and this cooperation was not good; the president was among the authors of this mess concerning the rule of law system, and Minister Bodnar repeatedly emphasized that he wants to fix the system, and yet he is the Minister of Justice and simultaneously the Prosecutor General – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk during a government session. - We agreed with Waldemar Żurek, with full conviction, that today Poland also needs a strong Prosecutor General. It’s not just about these changes, which will be difficult to implement anyway due to the strength of the opposition and the president, but it’s also about exercising the power of the Prosecutor General, and where it is desirable, needed, and possible, to accelerate both accountability and the restoration of a sense of justice – he continued. - There will be no sacred cows, and we will keep our fingers crossed for Minister Żurek in his fight, and I know how determined he is, so that people in Poland see that justice will catch up with everyone who does wrong things – he emphasized.

10:47

Tusk on Nuclear Reactors:

I Count on Us Making a Decisive Decision Within Years.
- I'm looking at Minister Motyka. I count on us making a decisive decision regarding these medium-sized modular nuclear reactors within years. We are building a nuclear power plant, the so-called large one. We are finishing work on the location for a potential second investment, for a second large nuclear power plant. We will also need a quick, decisive decision here - stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk during a government meeting. - The first large turbines on the Baltic Sea are currently being installed, we will probably go and see how it works there. We have the wind power act, I am counting on a quick potential correction, because I know there are still certain problems. But the real opportunity is likely, at least let's face it quickly and resolve the proceedings, when it comes to these most modern modular medium-sized nuclear reactors, and I count on, as I said, a precise action plan being presented by the end of summer - he continued.

10:51

Bodnar Responds to Sienkiewicz: If the Prosecution is Dependent on 'PiS Prosecutors,' Where Did These Investigations Come From?
Mr. MP Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz, if the Polish prosecution is, as you stated in "Graffiti" in conversation with Marcin Fijołek, independent of the Prosecutor General and dependent on "PiS prosecutors," then where did the following proceedings come from? - Adam Bodnar wrote on social media. Charges against the former prime minister and 7 members of the Council of Ministers, a motion to lift the immunity of the First President of the Supreme Court, 11 lifted parliamentary immunities, 7 indictments holding the PiS lawlessness accountable, dozens of revealed and prosecuted perpetrators of crimes, hundreds of charges filed - behind each of these cases stand specific, independent prosecutors. I am grateful for their courageous work! - he noted.

12:04

Tomczyk:

Accountability Should Proceed Faster
It seems to me that it is quite obvious that these nominations and changes show that in the areas where these changes have occurred, either a different management style, acceleration, or some new stage is needed - stated Cezary Tomczyk on the program "Gość Radia ZET", when asked about changes in the Ministry of Justice. - Are you asking if I expect the accountability process to accelerate? Of course, I do - he continued. - Madam editor, I will give you an example. We have the issue of former minister Macierewicz, right? For 9 months, together with a team of officers under the command of Colonel Błach, a report was prepared that showed issues of neglect and potential crimes - he summarized. - I piloted this program or project. It took 9 months, cost a lot of people's work. It was a total of several cubic meters of materials, tens of terabytes of data that had to be reviewed and described. A report was created from this. Based on this report, 41 notifications were sent to the prosecutor's office, which concern, among others, minister Macierewicz. These documents were sent to the prosecutor's office 7 months ago. A month ago, or a few weeks ago, the first motion to lift Macierewicz's immunity was filed. Do I think these cases should proceed faster? Yes, I think they should proceed faster - he continued.

12:04

Tomczyk:

Świrski Should Face the Tribunal of State
Of course, he should - stated Cezary Tomczyk on the program „Gość Radia ZET” (Guest of Radio ZET), when asked if Maciej Świrski should stand before the Tribunal of State. - The Tribunal of State and the Constitutional Responsibility Committee are handling this matter, so, well, I mean, in my opinion, it's obvious. Furthermore, I would also like to remind you that Mr. Świrski's deputy is Ms. Glapiak, who, if I remember correctly, has an indictment in the case of appropriating the now-famous watch from the Ministry of National Defence, a Longines watch worth several thousand zlotys, which was, by the way, recovered during the proceedings of the military police. So, this is the kind of company we're talking about - he continued. - This company can today impose fines, among others, on Radio ZET or any other station as part of some political revenge, and it often uses this tool. The National Broadcasting Council, which once had the hallmarks of a serious institution, has essentially become, on the one hand, almost insignificant, and on the other hand, political, and on the third hand, significant when it's possible to strike someone, just as they wanted to refuse a license to TVN, and later to TOK FM. This is not what the National Broadcasting Council is for - he added.

12:04

Tomczyk:

Sikorski's Promotion is a Major Boost for the Coalition
Precisely to send a clear signal that issues concerning international affairs will be of key importance to the government, and also to strengthen the Civic Coalition itself. It seems obvious to me. However, matters of Mercosur, the Green Deal, and the Migration Pact are issues that stir public opinion, often presented in completely untrue ways, incidentally by PiS, and these are also tasks that clearly fall to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, as he handles these matters by virtue of his office – stated Cezary Tomczyk in the program "Gość Radia ZET", when asked about the reason for Sikorski's promotion to Deputy Prime Minister. — [Tusk will be Prime Minister until the end of his term]. I say this as a person who is convinced that only Prime Minister Tusk can lead us to victory in '27, and I see no alternative. And I don't think anyone in our formation sees one either – he continued, when asked if Sikorski's promotion was a trial run to replace Donald Tusk as Prime Minister.

12:05

Tomczyk on Trump's Statement Regarding Nawrocki:

I Don't See Anything Sensational About It.
- Firstly, President Trump hosted President-elect Nawrocki at his place earlier in the campaign. And secondly, we are just on the eve of President Andrzej Duda's term ending and his farewell. Therefore, it seems to me that this is a natural statement. I don't see anything sensational about it - stated Cezary Tomczyk on the program "Gość Radia ZET," when asked about Nawrocki's relations with Trump.

- Frankly speaking, and I will tell you this, I would very much like us to maintain this status, regardless of who governs or will govern in Poland, regardless of who is president, prime minister, or holds any other role, that in matters of security, in the matter of key alliances with the United States, with NATO, and with key NATO countries, the relations of the president, prime minister, minister of foreign affairs, minister of national defense are always excellent or very good, regardless of who they are - he continued.

12:05

Tomczyk:

I Will Attend Nawrocki's Swearing-In
- I will attend – stated Cezary Tomczyk on the program "Gość Radia ZET", when asked if he would be present at Karol Nawrocki's swearing-in ceremony in the Sejm. - Not all ceremonies we participate in are in line with our wishes. Sometimes we simply participate in these ceremonies because it is our duty – he continued. - Leszek Miller is also not a member of the National Assembly, and it is not his obligation, but rather an opportunity he is exercising. Well, each of these gentlemen has their will. I understand these gentlemen perfectly, by the way. I greatly value Lech Wałęsa, and I obviously did not vote for Karol Nawrocki, and I believe that, well, the choice has been made. We have to deal with it. It is a choice that, moreover, means that the system of government and cohabitation will function exactly the same as it has for the last 18 months – he commented.

12:20

Temporary Border Controls. Szłapka Provides Data
- The Polish-Belarusian border is absolutely sealed. I would like to inform you that since July 7, when we introduced temporary controls on the Polish-German and Polish-Lithuanian borders, over 308,000 people have been checked. Entry was refused to 115 people on these borders - stated Adam Szłapka at a press conference at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister (KPRM).

12:28

Mr. Morawiecki, It's Not Worth Lying. Szłapka on €123 Billion for Poland from the EU Budget
- What is important, apart from the fact that this will be the largest budget in the history of the EU, is that Poland will be the largest beneficiary, according to the European Commission's proposal, of €123 billion. This is a significant matter, and I want to clarify immediately, because some politicians who consider themselves economists, when this amount had not yet appeared, but there was information about certain indicators, said that Poland could count on a maximum of €50 billion in this proposal - stated Adam Szłapka at a press conference at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.

- The proposal is on the table, €123 billion, so to that economist who was misinforming, Mr. Morawiecki, it's not worth lying, because then the European Commission puts it on paper, and it turns out as we said. Poland is the largest beneficiary of this European Commission proposal - he continued.

12:30

Szłapka:

It's Clearly Visible That the Government and the Prime Minister Himself Have a Clear Majority in Parliament
- This has already happened, over a month ago. There was a vote of confidence. It's clearly visible that Donald Tusk's government and Prime Minister Tusk himself have a clear majority in parliament - stated Adam Szłapka at a press conference at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.

12:32

Szłapka:

Housing to be within the Ministry of Finance and Economy After Reconstruction
- Regarding housing issues, this is very precisely described in the act on departments. Housing was – before the reconstruction – within the Ministry of Development and Technology. After the reconstruction, it will be within the Ministry of Finance and Economy, meaning the Minister of Finance and the relevant deputy minister will be responsible for it - stated Adam Szłapka at a press conference at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.

12:34

Talks with Coalition Partners Underway. Szłapka on Possible Agreement on Civil Partnerships
- We are certainly determined, I'm speaking for myself and for Civic Coalition, but talks with coalition partners are ongoing, also at the parliamentary level. I think that in the coming weeks, we will be able to talk about an agreement here – stated Adam Szłapka at a press conference in the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.

12:34

Szłapka Announces Date for Tusk's Meeting with Poles
- This week there will be a meeting [of Donald Tusk] with Poles, and the Prime Minister will certainly be summarizing what has happened in recent months. Tomorrow - stated Adam Szłapka at a press conference in the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.

12:37

Szłapka Asked About the New Russian Ambassador:

For me, this is new information, I didn't know he was there.
- For me, this is new information, I didn't know there was an ambassador of the Russian Federation. It's difficult for me to comment because I don't know who he is, but in the current situation, I do not foresee any change. The question is whether any editorial office will invite him for an interview, because that has happened in Poland before the full-scale aggression, but I think it would be another faux pas - stated Adam Szłapka at a press conference at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister (KPRM).

12:40

Szłapka on Deputy Minister Changes:

Work is Underway on This Matter.
- Regarding deputy ministers, I think we will know more next week. Work is underway on this matter - stated Adam Szłapka at a press conference at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister (KPRM).

13:15

"A Proposal Primarily Addressed to Konfederacja." PiS Presents "The Polish Declaration"
During a press conference, PiS presented "The Polish Declaration." The document includes provisions such as "no to coalition with Tusk and his people," "no to cooperation with Putin's Russia," "no to illegal immigration, yes to deportations," "no to the euro in Poland," "the privatization of healthcare and education is unacceptable," "relations with Ukraine must always and exclusively be based on the criterion of Poland's interest," "no to ideology in education," and "housing is a right, not a commodity." - We believe there is a moment [...] when we simply need to clearly explain all these divisions that currently exist in Poland, because very often, both the media, and consequently, public opinion, use very simplified divisions, sometimes based on complete misunderstanding - said Jarosław Kaczyński. - Hence these points and hence the proposal addressed primarily to Konfederacja, but also later to other groups, whether social or smaller political groups, to simply sign these points - he continued. - Just as Konfederacja uses the Toruń Declaration, we have laid out the foundations of our policy here. This is enormously important for the reason that this front, which exists in Poland today, and which we do not by itself expect anything from, we do not want a Polish-Polish war, but there are simply facts, it must be clear - he went on to say. - We are addressing Konfederacja, I remind you that Mr. President Nawrocki signed the Toruń Declaration, although it is not easy for us in every point, and in this case, it is a matter of our colleagues from Konfederacja signing this declaration - he added. The full text of the declaration was published on X.

Tusk Meets with General Grynkewich
Prime Minister Donald Tusk met with the Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) and Head of U.S. Armed Forces in Europe (EUCOM), General Alexus Grynkewich.

13:36

Kaczyński on healthcare privatization and paid studies:

We want the entire patriotic camp not to promote slogans that serve the other side.
"We simply want the entire Polish patriotic camp [...] not to promote slogans that serve the other side, such as, for example, privatizing healthcare [...] or having people pay for studies" – said Jarosław Kaczyński at a press conference.

Kaczyński defends, among others, Kanał Zero:

He’s Being Persecuted. The perpetrators must be punished, because these are criminal acts.
- This very partial, one might say nascent pluralism in the media sphere, I’m talking primarily about television and radio right now, also proved unacceptable from their point of view because they lost the presidential elections. Therefore, we are moving forward. There will certainly also be an attack on social media, because they also limit the possibility of blocking - said Jarosław Kaczyński at a press conference. - And today these blocks are already functioning, for example, Kanał Zero, which is indeed developing fantastically and has played a very significant role in shaping public opinion, including during the election campaign, is being persecuted in various ways. And all of this must be stopped, and those who undertake such actions must simply be punished, because these are unlawful and criminal actions - he continued.

13:53

Kaczyński on Appointing Żurek as Minister of Justice:

Provocation," "Harbinger of a Policy Utterly Disregarding the Law.
- I believe that appointing someone like that as Minister of Justice is, on the one hand, a kind of provocation, and on the other hand, it is simply a harbinger of a policy that will completely disregard the law. Because the law has already been severely violated until now, there is even a fatality as a result of these actions, and now it is to be taken even further - Jarosław Kaczyński said at a press conference, when asked what he thought of the new Minister of Justice. - Of course, we will oppose this with all our might, but a fact is a fact. The biography of this gentleman, not only the political one, not only the one related to his activism, which is forbidden by law for judges, but also the one concerning certain elements of his personal situation worth checking, for example, where he got 20 properties from, which is not easy from a judge's earnings, all of this together indicates that there are no reservations here - he continued.

Świrski Before the State Tribunal? Sejm Makes a Decision
237 MPs supported the motion to bring the head of the National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT), Maciej Świrski, to constitutional responsibility before the State Tribunal. 179 were against, and 16 - mainly from the Confederation parliamentary club - abstained. Furthermore, the Sejm elected MP Maciej Tomczykiewicz as the prosecutor in the proceedings before the State Tribunal.

15:21

Sejm Decides on Consent for Forced Attendance of Ziobro
241 MPs supported the motion for the Sejm to grant consent for the detention and forced attendance of MP Zbigniew Ziobro at a sitting of the parliamentary committee of inquiry into Pegasus. 179 voted against, and no one abstained. The Confederation club also voted against the motion.

Mentzen Responds to Kaczyński:

We Will Present Our Conditions to Potential Partners.
- By presenting the Polish Declaration, Jarosław Kaczyński failed to notice that the political situation has changed. It is PiS that needs Konfederacja, not Konfederacja that needs PiS - wrote Sławomir Mentzen. - At the appropriate time, we will present our conditions to potential partners, which will certainly not include any socialist nonsense, such as: housing as a right, not a commodity - he stated.

15:34

Nowacka on the Need for Anti-Discrimination Training:

I Expected Higher Standards from Poland 2050.
Sexism, boorishness, and the inability to say the word "sorry" are unfortunately becoming the norm in the Polish Sejm. I have no illusions about PiS politicians - their contempt and lack of respect for women has been known for a long time - wrote Barbara Nowacka. But I expected higher standards from Poland 2050. An apology for the insinuations and for inciting a wave of insults and hate. An apology to my family and to Prime Minister Donald Tusk's family. And anti-discrimination training not only for MP Ćwik but also for all others who do not see a problem in this gentleman's behavior - emphasized the head of the Ministry of National Education (MEN).

16:17

Tusk on Russia’s Confrontation with Europe:

Poland Must Be Stable to Be Ready for Any Scenario.
- Today, General Alexus Grynkewich, the Supreme Allied Commander Europe of NATO and the Commander of the U.S. European Command, who is, in a sense, our compatriot, with his ancestors originating from former Polish lands, confirmed American intelligence assessments. He recently spoke in Europe about Russia being ready for a confrontation with Europe, and therefore with us, as early as 2027 – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk in a recording published on social media. - Today, we adopted the national security strategy at a government meeting. I also had the opportunity to speak with the outgoing head of MI6 and the new head of MI6. All these meetings, conversations, and decisions are dedicated to one thing: Poland must be ready, Poland must be well-prepared, the Polish army must be well-equipped, and the situation in Poland must be stable so that we are ready for any scenario – the head of government continued. - There is no reason for us to scare each other, but we must be truly vigilant and focused. Therefore, I will be making decisions that prioritize security above all else, including internal security and political stability within our country. Because there is nothing more valuable than the security of Polish families and the Polish state – he added.

16:54

Nawrocki:

I Am Certain I Will Be Sworn In as President on August 6th
- First and foremost, these attempts and this entire political, public discussion have been sad in terms of the state of Polish democracy. Poles elected their president, casting over 10 million votes for the person who will become the President of Poland, and of course, this political theatre has been detrimental to Polish democracy - said Karol Nawrocki on wPolsce24 television, when asked how he assesses the attempts to block his swearing-in. - I think we are reaching a level of absurdity in the public debate, because fortunately, the most important people in Poland and those who make decisions, I'm referring to Mr. Marshal [Hołownia], have not succumbed to this pressure, which no longer resembles a serious political discussion - he continued. - I am looking at all of this with detachment, I am certain that I will be sworn in as president on August 6th. I will perform my duties to the best of my ability for 5 years - he added. - Many things can happen, however, I am calmly awaiting my swearing-in and I am convinced that this entire public discussion has not primarily served Polish democracy. I am glad that this discussion has not fundamentally crossed the borders of Poland, as that would simply bring shame - he concluded.

17:32

Czarnek Responds to Mentzen:

A Bit of Reflection.
- Esteemed Member of Parliament Sławomir Mentzen, dear Sławek. A bit of reflection - it's not us who need you, nor you us, but Poland needs a very good government that will quickly pull Poles out of the dramatic quagmire that Tusk and his team are dragging us into - wrote Przemysław Czarnek on social media.

17:34

Błaszczak on Tusk's Recording:

He's Scaring People with War for Political Purposes.
Poland must be prepared for conflict at any moment. This was the assumption of the Law and Justice government during our 8 years in power. That is why we launched a major project of armament and the construction of a large and modern army, which the Civic Platform politicians called megalomania, and warned of contract cancellations and a lack of demographic potential - wrote Mariusz Błaszczak on social media. Donald Tusk is scaring people with war for political purposes, not to justify accelerating the program to build a strong Polish Army. Poles should not live in fear of war, but should be prepared for the possibility of it happening and be aware that we have a modern and numerous army that will defend them - he emphasized.

17:36

Komarewicz on the Sejm vote:

Unfortunately, the developers"lobby won, not Poles.
- Unfortunately, today in the Sejm, the developers' lobby won, not Poles. The Sejm upheld the Senate's bad amendment to the law on social housing development forms and certain other laws, which abolishes the requirement for developers to include an appropriate number of parking spaces for residents - wrote Rafał Komarewicz on social media. - Despite the defeat in today's vote, I will not stop taking action for solutions that are good for Poles, not for small groups with big interests. It's a shame that most MPs voted for our cities to look this way - the MP from Poland 2050 emphasized.

19:36

Hołownia Confirms He Was Pressured to Stage a Coup d'état
- Many times, repeatedly, it was proposed to me, suggested, or inquired whether I was ready to carry out a coup d'état, because that's what it boils down to. The time will come when we will also discuss [the names] about this. In memoirs. However, no, a coup d'état will not be carried out with me - stated Szymon Hołownia in an interview with Marcin Fijołek on "Gość Wydarzeń" Polsat News. - I did not vote for Karol Nawrocki, he was not my candidate, but as the Marshal of the Sejm, I am obliged to respect the will of the majority of voters, to administer the oath to the president, to ensure the continuity of the command of the Armed Forces and the authorities in Poland, and to talk with the president, with whom we have divergent views on many matters. However, I think there will also be areas where real cooperation is possible for the good of the suffering people, who, for 25 years, have not been seen at all in this holy war, this call to fight good versus evil, in our lives - the Marshal of the Sejm continued.

19:51

Domański:

We are currently the 20th largest economy in the world, but of course we want more
- We absolutely must accelerate when it comes to the Polish economy. We must improve the coordination of economic policies. [...] I would of course start with a new industrial policy. We are currently the 20th largest economy in the world, but of course we want more. For this to be possible, we must strengthen key sectors of Polish industry, such as, I hope, the space industry, which has the potential to have growing importance in the Polish economy - said Andrzej Domański in an interview with Piotr Kraśko on TVN24's "Fakty po Faktach".

20:09

Domański:

PiS Failed to Deliver on Many Promises. We Are Fulfilling Ours, Step by Step.
- PiS did not fulfill very many of its election promises. And we, our government, are fulfilling all of them, step by step - said Andrzej Domański in "Fakty po Faktach" on TVN24. - I mentioned the outlays for increases for teachers, for the so-called budget sphere, but also programs that may not be as expensive, but in my opinion are very important, such as, for example, money for in vitro. Half a billion zlotys - from a budgetary perspective, perhaps not a staggering amount, but [...] thanks to this amount, thousands of Polish couples can enjoy arguably the greatest happiness - he continued.

20:14

Berek on Hołownia's Words About a Coup d'état:

One Must Ask the Marshal What He Meant.
- The only thing I can say on this matter is that one must ask Marshal Hołownia what he meant. This is a fresh statement, made seemingly a few dozen minutes ago, so Marshal Hołownia is the only person who can and must be asked what his words mean, what he has in mind - stated Maciej Berek on TVP Info.

20:16

Berek suggests the possibility of exceptions to Tusk's rule:

We don't rule out that in specific situations...
- The Prime Minister said it in such a way that we accept it as a rule. We don't rule out that in specific situations, if there will be such a decision and agreement of the Council of Ministers, then some project, if there were indeed a very intense difference between parties, coalition partners, then such a project would be taken out from under this rule, but then we must clearly agree on that - stated Maciej Berek on TVP Info.

20:20

Domański:

We are not currently working on a cadastral tax in the ministry
- We are not currently working on a cadastral tax in the Ministry of Finance. It would of course be a revolution that would have to be very well prepared if it were ever to be introduced. I will remind you – it is a tax on the value of real estate. We would often have to value real estate in Poland or use more simplified mechanisms, which, however, are often prone to error – said Andrzej Domański in TVN24's "Fakty po Faktach". As he re-emphasized: - We are not currently working on a cadastral tax in the Ministry of Finance. It seems to be a solution that is simply not appropriate at this stage.

20:25

Berek:

I am convinced that Żurek will show us all in a very short time how determined he is
- Please give him [time] to start his work. We are actually just a few dozen hours after these nominations, so we need a moment. Yes, everything here needs to be handled very quickly, in accordance with procedures. I am absolutely convinced that Minister Żurek will show us all in a very short time how determined he is to lead the justice system and the prosecution out of the swamp that PiS has left us in, to lead us out - stated Maciej Berek on TVP Info.

20:28

Hołownia:

The Matter is Clear. Nawrocki Won These Elections
- No, the matter is clear. Karol Nawrocki won these elections. There is no credible evidence that has emerged, despite the prosecutor's office's work, despite the reports the prosecutor's office has issued, despite all checks, there is no credible evidence that anyone other than Karol Nawrocki won the presidential election - stated Szymon Hołownia on "Gość Wydarzeń" (Guest of Events) on Polsat News, when asked about the presidential election results. - Were there abuses and were votes counted incorrectly in some commissions? Yes, there were. However, nothing indicates that, because there is no evidence that their scale was such as to distort the result, that this scale exceeded 400,000 or however many votes there were. And with presidential elections, the matter is paradoxically very simple from a formal perspective. Presidential elections are presumed valid, meaning they are valid from the moment the result is announced by the National Electoral Commission, unless their invalidity is established. And since no invalidity has been established, therefore, the president should be sworn in - the Marshal of the Sejm continued.

20:31

Domański:

Squabbles over housing policy within the coalition did not serve the priority – increasing the number of completed apartments
- We are focusing on both owner-occupied housing, as we know Poles want owner-occupied housing, and also on social construction. I have already spoken with Deputy Minister Lewandowski from the Ministry of Development. I will speak with him again next week regarding our priorities in this area - said Andrzej Domański on TVN24's "Fakty po Faktach" (Facts after Facts). - I am convinced that together, collectively in the coalition, in harmony, without unnecessary quarrels, we will succeed with the housing program... […] It seems to me that these discussions concerning housing policy, these squabbles, did not serve the priority, which must be increasing the number of completed apartments in Poland - he assessed.

20:31

Hołownia on Świrski:

I hope the State Tribunal Simply Starts Working.
I am not making such decisions, nor do I believe that this is a solution that should be applied today. Above all, we are waiting now; I signed all the documents before arriving here today - stated Szymon Hołownia on Polsat News' "Gość Wydarzeń," when asked about bringing Maciej Świrski before the State Tribunal.

I have sent correspondence both to Mr. Świrski and to the Chairperson of the State Tribunal, Judge Manowska, who is the First President of the Supreme Court, as she is ex officio the chairperson of the State Tribunal. All documentation will leave the Sejm, probably today, and will likely physically arrive on Monday. These are all the commission's reports, all the materials. Mr. Świrski will also receive them, of course. Well, I hope the State Tribunal simply starts working - he said.

In our assessment, yes. However, however, it is also based on legal analyses that we have performed - Hołownia continued, when asked whether Maciej Świrski should be suspended from his work at the National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT).

20:32

Hołownia on Ćwik’s words:

If anyone from our group insinuated anything towards Nowacka, they would be kicked out of the party immediately.

20:34

Hołownia Quotes Nawrocki on the New Public Media Act:

I’m Very Interested in This.
- There are many stakeholders here who need to come together in joint work. Because on the one hand, there is Minister Wróbel from Civic Platform, who, after Minister Wyrobiec, handles these media affairs in the Ministry of Culture and has been working on it for a long time. He is a very nice guy and a former journalist, and he is managing the entire sector of the media act - stated Szymon Hołownia in "Gość wydarzeń" on Polsat News, when asked about the scope of freedom in shaping the future of public media. - We have our very clear vision. I am in constant contact with the chairman of the National Media Council, Mr. Król, with whom I cooperate very well. And then there is the President. Because we can pass any law, but in the end, there is the President. So I also spoke with him yesterday, and he said: "I’m very interested in this." I said: "Good, then we here on the government side are developing a solution together, because we can’t pass this law on our own, right? We have to pass it together, but already at the stage, because it has been done before and it was effective, already at the stage of legislative work in the Sejm, there is contact with the President, with his Chancellery, so that we can release something that will also be acceptable to him - Hołownia quoted. - The situation in public media needs to be healed. We need to ensure that regardless of who is in power, these are not partisan media, this is not partisan messaging from one party - Hołownia continued.
