Tusk in Paris

Prime Minister Donald Tusk is visiting Paris to attend a meeting focused on peace and security in Ukraine. The main topic of the gathering will be comprehensive aid for Ukraine. The head of the Polish government is expected to present Western leaders with information regarding the newly established Defence and Security Fund.

Among the subjects to be discussed, in the context of long-term efforts for peace and stability in the region, will be the possibility of deploying international forces to Ukraine as part of a stabilization mission.

At 9:15 AM, French President Emmanuel Macron will welcome Prime Minister Donald Tusk in the courtyard of the Elysée Palace. The plenary session will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by a meeting between the head of the Polish government and the French President at 1:00 PM. A press conference with Prime Minister Donald Tusk is scheduled for 1:30 PM.

President in Italy

Today marks the first day of President Andrzej Duda and First Lady Agata Kornhauser-Duda's visit to Italy. At 11:30 AM in Rome, a welcoming ceremony for the President by the Grand Master of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta will take place, after which both will proceed to a meeting (11:45 AM). At 12:50 PM, a state decoration ceremony will commence, and at 1:15 PM, President Duda will attend an official breakfast hosted in honour of the presidential couple by the Grand Master.

At 3:00 PM, the presidential couple will travel to the Vatican to lay a wreath at the tomb of St. John Paul II. A jubilee prayer at the tomb of St. Peter is also planned.

Candidates on the Campaign Trail

Civic Platform (KO) presidential candidate Rafał Trzaskowski continues his campaign tour. A press conference is scheduled for 1:00 PM in Kutno. Later, the candidate will visit Konin: at 4:15 PM he will visit a shoemaker, and at 5:30 PM an open meeting will begin.

Karol Nawrocki is in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship. A press conference is planned for 10:00 AM at the Końskie train station. At 12:00 PM, the candidate supported by PiS will visit the Mausoleum of Village Martyrdom in Michniów. Later, at 1:30 PM, he will visit the Municipal Stadium and MOSIR in Starachowice. The final stop is an open meeting in Staszów at 7:00 PM.

Sławomir Mentzen is also continuing his tour of Poland. The Confederation candidate will visit Głubczyce (4:00 PM), Prudnik (5:00 PM), Krapkowice (6:30 PM), and Kędzierzyn-Koźle (7:30 PM).

Ministers on Borsuk APCs

At 11:00 AM, the Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, Deputy Ministers Paweł Bejda and Cezary Tomczyk, as well as the Minister of the Interior and Administration Tomasz Siemoniak and the Minister of State Assets Jakub Jaworowski will participate in the signing of the first executive agreement for the supply of BORSUK infantry fighting vehicles.

Siemoniak in Lesser Poland

At 2:45 PM in Krakow, a press conference will be held with the participation of the Minister of the Interior and Administration Tomasz Siemoniak and the Małopolska Voivode Krzysztof Jan Klęczar.

– We can increase the budget deficit until a crisis comes and turns everything upside down. If there were an exact point where this happens, we would have known it long ago. I believe we already have a very high deficit and debt. Therefore, such decisions [to increase the deficit by PLN 52 billion due to raising the tax-free allowance] should not be made – stated Ryszard Petru in the "Piasecki Interview" on TVN24.

– This would be possible if we were reducing the budget deficit by 1 percentage point each year. So that we would have about 3% of GDP deficit in 2 years. Then such a decision would be possible – he continued.

– I am in favour of 800+ not being for the wealthy, but for the less affluent. And on this, for instance, PLN 20 billion can be saved. I know this is not a proposal from the Ministry of Finance. Therefore, savings do not always have to mean cuts. It is difficult to implement, but not impossible with good economic growth and sound fiscal policy – stated Ryszard Petru in “Rozmowa Piaseckiego” on TVN24.

– I would expect this kind of approach – with falling inflation, and it will fall, if only because of the strengthening zloty, to say: if this happens, I will cut interest rates in the third quarter. Such information is very much needed by the Polish economy, because what is happening now is hindering both business and the ability of individual clients to take out a mortgage – stated Ryszard Petru in „Rozmowa Piaseckiego” on TVN24.

– I would expect the entire Monetary Policy Council (RPP) to take a serious approach to the inflation path. What is happening now, very high interest rates in Poland, falling in Europe, makes it very profitable to buy Polish treasury bonds. This means the strengthening of the zloty beyond measure and also reduces inflation – stated Ryszard Petru in „Rozmowa Piaseckiego” on TVN24.

– I believe Szymon Hołownia is a good candidate, but he still has over 1.5 months of campaigning ahead of him. We believe we are working on [increasing support] – stated Ryszard Petru in "Rozmowa Piaseckiego" on TVN24.

– I've tallied Confederation's promises – that's nearly PLN 90 billion. I would expect them to show, down to the last billion, where savings of PLN 90 billion would come from. The last question – would Mentzen, as president, pardon a woman sentenced to 10 years in prison for performing an abortion? Because that is his postulate. What if she were, for example, a single mother raising 2-3 children – stated Ryszard Petru on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego" programme.

– It is characteristic that the President's latest letters to the Prime Minister are first published on social media, and then reach the Prime Minister, so we see that these letters have the character of some kind of political game rather than a real dialogue between the President and the Prime Minister of the government – said Jan Grabiec in "Poranek TOK FM".

– [The letter concerning, among other things, the migration pact and the situation on the border] was published before it reached the Prime Minister, so I think it was more about the President's participation in the election campaign than about clarifying anything. The President is informed on an ongoing basis; a security committee takes place every week, at which the President's representative receives all information about the situation on the borders and matters concerning state defense – he continued.

"Perhaps someone at Nowogrodzka told the President to get more involved"

– This campaign activity of the President is surprising because for a long time he seemed to support Mr. Mentzen more than the PiS candidate, and here it is clearly visible that he is adopting such rhetoric […] perhaps someone at Nowogrodzka stamped their foot or told the President to get more involved, hence this excessive letter-writing – the head of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister continued.

– There’s a famous recording of him [Sławomir Mentzen] speaking in the Sejm, giving a speech, and suddenly forgetting his text, saying: 'My tape is running out.' He doesn't know what to say. The question is whether you would want a president whose tape is running out and who personally has nothing to say. He has an uncalculated economic program – stated Ryszard Petru on TVN24’s “Rozmowa Piaseckiego.”

– To the best of my knowledge, it does not concern GetBack. I have one piece of advice regarding GetBack for all honest journalists. Follow the money, follow the money, see how many people lost money and who profited from it – stated Mateusz Morawiecki at a press briefing in front of the Supreme Audit Office (NIK) headquarters.

– It probably concerns [the hearing at NIK] matters related to the establishment of funds, the anti-COVID fund, the fund related to supporting Ukraine – he continued.

– The government is dealing with this, it has appointed a team that is working on it, there is essentially agreement that the current form of the Church Fund is unmaintainable […] there is a general understanding, the question is about the form. I certainly haven't heard of anyone in the government who would want to take away pensions from nuns in enclosed orders, so we have an agreement on that – said Jan Grabiec on TOK FM.

– Regarding the financial means that are discretionarily awarded by politicians to churches, because it's a subsidy for something, because we like that priest, because he supports us, so we'll give it to him, and not to the neighboring one, because he doesn't support PiS, such things must be eliminated, and here there is agreement in the government – he continued.

– There are also other concepts being considered within this team, so just like any project submitted for the government's work schedule, it will probably be the subject of discussion among ministers and ultimately a project will go to the Council of Ministers after this discussion – he added, when asked if the project proposed by Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk would be discussed by the government.

"I issue a challenge to Rafał Trzaskowski and TVN journalists: if they organize a debate for me with Rafał Trzaskowski, I will gladly appear on TVN" – Sławomir Mentzen stated on Polsat News' "Graffiti".

When asked by Marcin Fijołek if he would be willing to attend such a debate at Polsat News, he replied: "Of course. However, I don't know if Rafał Trzaskowski won't chicken out."

"If you organize a debate for me with Karol Nawrocki or Rafał Trzaskowski, I will gladly participate" – he declared.

– People held in detention are being held in a manner that is absolutely unlawful. Another tragedy could occur. Today, Tusk already has political blood on his hands because of what happened not far from here, a short distance away, with the death of Barbara Skrzypek. Now, another tragedy could happen because individuals are being detained, as I see, or as I understand from what I have read, based on completely fabricated testimonies, and a tragedy could occur – stated Mateusz Morawiecki at a press briefing in front of the Supreme Audit Office (NIK) headquarters.

– I don't entirely know what it concerns [the hearing at NIK], because the summons was very enigmatic. I'm glad that TVN journalists have better information from NIK than I do – stated Mateusz Morawiecki at a press briefing in front of the Supreme Audit Office (NIK) headquarters.

– I can say this much: I used to have considerable respect for Mr. Banaś. I cooperated with him, I considered him a statesman, and I don’t know what Tusk did to him, but today he has turned from a statesman into an anti-state actor. I think we will find out about this someday, and it might be interesting. Yes [I regret that we chose him as the head of NIK] – stated Mateusz Morawiecki at a press briefing in front of the Supreme Audit Office (NIK) headquarters.

"I hope so, the Confederation's stance on this matter is somewhat surprising to me. The Left signalled they have a different opinion on this matter even during government work, we understand that, but we believe that a relief for entrepreneurs today is a key issue," said Jan Grabiec on TOK FM, when asked if a majority would be found to reduce the health contribution for entrepreneurs.

"This proposal, which we as the government have prepared, is quite a radical, fundamental, large, significant change that entrepreneurs would feel. I have the impression that the Confederation, and I hope this is just a preliminary stance, that when it comes to the vote, they will reflect, is pursuing a policy of 'the worse, the better'," he continued, when asked about the Confederation's 'cleverness' consisting of demanding a radical reduction of the health contribution, because otherwise they will vote against any reduction.

"They wouldn't want any tax reduction to come into effect before the elections. The worse it is for entrepreneurs, the better, because they are counting on these entrepreneurs to vote for the Confederation if the act doesn't pass," he added.

– It was an obvious hyperbole [the words that I would rather have a prostitute daughter than a journalist son], rather an expression of my discouragement with journalists. It seems that at one of the rallies, two days after meeting with this journalist-adjacent product, meaning Piotr Kraśko, I expressed my dislike for this person and his colleagues in this way – Sławomir Mentzen said in Polsat News' "Graffiti".

– These people lie about me every day. Recently, they are lying that I don't meet with journalists at all. I have given more interviews in this campaign than Rafał Trzaskowski and Karol Nawrocki combined, and these people shamelessly lie that I am afraid of journalists and that I am running away from them – he continued.

As he stated: – I do not respect this type of people. They do not want to know the truth, my views; they want to lie about me, and I have no reason to think or speak well of them.

– Of course, we are aware that the campaign will intensify, that these poll results may draw very close, and I think that as the electoral tension grows, so will people's interest, and certainly the Prime Minister will not hesitate to speak out on the campaign, and in a very decisive manner – said Jan Grabiec on TOK FM.

– Our partners have slightly worse results than in the elections, and this, of course, requires an assessment of why there isn't broader support for the strategies of these parties. I think the presidential campaign also weighs on these party results, because we know that Rafał Trzaskowski dominated the political scene here, and therefore it probably affects the party results, – said Jan Grabiec on TOK FM.

– I am convinced that our coalition partners will easily cross the electoral threshold, and from our side, we will cheer them on to do so, – he continued.

– For now, yes [we are staying in the EU]. I don't want to suggest to Brussels what other stupid ideas they might come up with [so my answer would be different] – Sławomir Mentzen said on Polsat News's "Graffiti."

– Membership in the EU is becoming increasingly less profitable. We are heading towards becoming a net contributor. The costs of the Green Deal for Polish agriculture, industry, and our cost of living are becoming ever higher. So, I won't be surprised if, within 5-10 years, such a question becomes relevant – he stated.

– I don't know in which direction the EU will develop. For now, we are heading towards some kind of superstate. There are plans to reform the EU treaties, to strip Poland of its veto power. This is harmful – he assessed.

– In many respects, they [Western European countries] should be learning from us, and they should be listening to us, not the other way around. Because if they implement solutions here that have led to this recession and the loss of a sense of security among Western societies, then I do not want such solutions in Poland – he added.

– Children should not be killed just because their fathers committed a terrible crime – Sławomir Mentzen said on Polsat News's "Graffiti."

– That's a completely different situation [threat to the mother's health or life]. The principle of double effect applies there. The goal then is to save the woman's life, not to kill an innocent child. And yes, of course, a woman's life can be saved, even if the consequence is the child's death – he continued.

In his opinion: – There are many people in the world for whom doctors predicted they would not survive childbirth, that they would be disabled, even severely. And these people are normal, they live normally and have their beautiful lives, which they wouldn't have had. […] Of course, there are cases, unfortunately, where the child dies, but there are also cases where doctors are mistaken and parents have hope until the very end. […] Innocent children should not be killed and deprived of a chance at a beautiful life simply because we have the impression that this life might not be as beautiful as we would wish.

– TVN employees are trying to convince people that I'm afraid of debates and journalists – Sławomir Mentzen wrote on social media.

– I am not afraid. Organize a 1-on-1 debate with Rafał Trzaskowski for me, and I will gladly appear on your channel, TVN – added the Confederation candidate.

– You wanted to abolish PIT, CIT, and also many contributions, including health and pension. Is this still current? – asked Marcin Fijołek in Polsat News's “Graffiti”.

– Mr. Editor, you’ll make me lose my good opinion of you. This is an obvious joke. I said this in 2023. It was an election slogan that Poland would be better off without these taxes. Yes, it would be better. However, of course, they have to exist, we have expenses, and they need to be financed from something. It is deeply unserious to claim that this is an election program – replied Sławomir Mentzen.

– It wasn't a provocation, it's a rally slogan. It is absolutely obvious to anyone who heard it, perhaps with the exception of some journalists who then calculated on Twitter how much such a reform would cost – he continued.

– You also calculated in that post that 500+ would have to be abolished… – the host pressed.

– We are talking about two completely different things. Here you are talking about my calculation from around 2016, where I showed how the tax system in Poland could look alternatively, without income tax, without ZUS. It was an intellectual exercise from 2016. And the fact that Poland would be better off without PIT, CIT, ZUS, VAT, TVP, and TVN was an election slogan from 2023 – commented the Confederation candidate.

– Poland is in a completely different situation than in 2016. There is no way to compare our public finances, and any intellectual exercises from that time are, of course, outdated – he added.

– The financial representative dealt with [the Confederation's financial report for the EP elections], not me. I have been campaigning for many months now, it was not within my responsibilities. I am unable, and I do not want to, nor do I intend to, oversee every single piece of paper in the party – Sławomir Mentzen said on Polsat News' "Graffiti".

– It seems to me that it is too early for such far-reaching conclusions [that this money will go to waste]. We are still awaiting the Supreme Court's verdict – he added.

– I do not keep accounts. […] Perhaps there were some minor irregularities, but I point out that a system in which both opposition parties suddenly lose funding does not seem appropriate or fair to me – he assessed.

– I have not entered into any non-aggression pact [with Karol Nawrocki], I have no contact with the PiS headquarters. […] My staff also have not contacted the PiS headquarters. […] The fact is that I am not burning myself out attacking Karol Nawrocki at the moment, but this is due to my tactics – Sławomir Mentzen said in „Graffiti” on Polsat News.

– When I was a child, I read a fairy tale where the sun and the storm saw a traveler and wondered how to take the traveler's jacket off. First, the storm tried to create some rain, wind. The more it attacked the traveler, the tighter the traveler held onto his jacket. Then the sun smiled broadly at him, warmed him up, and he took off his jacket himself – he continued.

– So I am now smiling broadly at the potential voters of Karol Nawrocki – he indicated.

– I believe my views are much better known than Karol Nawrocki's views. He hasn't spoken out on most topics so far. He has only been publicly known for a few months, and really, we don't know what to expect from him – said Sławomir Mentzen in "Graffiti" on Polsat News.

– At the program convention, he presented a program, but I had the impression that it was my program. Even some slogans were repeated. So if we have a choice between the original and a knock-off, I think it's better to vote for the original – he assessed.

– He [Karol Nawrocki] copied practically my program, so yes, I consider it a knock-off – he added.

– Today, we are in a situation of a certain profound breakthrough in security and in the global security architecture, as well as in Europe. We see what is happening every day. On one hand, China’s economic pressure, and on the other, primarily the war so close to us, that is, Russia’s war on Ukraine, and ongoing peace discussions. All of this that is happening in Europe and the world, in terms of geopolitical security, is compounded by what is happening within the Polish state, namely, reduced recruitment to the Polish Army, to the Territorial Defence Force (WOT) – stated Karol Nawrocki at a press conference in Końskie.

– Pressure on Poland from the East since the start of the hybrid war on Poland’s eastern borders, pressure from illegal migrants from the West, the current government’s failure to fulfill American and South Korean contracts, therefore we have two clear pictures indicating that security in this election campaign and in the coming times is the most important topic of this election campaign – he continued.

– Today I stand in Końskie to call Rafał Trzaskowski to a debate on security, the future of the security of the Polish state. I call on Rafał Trzaskowski for a fair play fight of arguments in a discussion about the security of the Polish state in the face of the international situation and the situation on our borders – stated Karol Nawrocki at a press conference in Końskie.

– We are in a place from which Rafał Trzaskowski has already fled, he did not behave like a man, he did not take up the presidential debate in Końskie. I hope that over the last 5 years, Trzaskowski's masculine element is now at the right level and he will not chicken out of debating with me about what is most important, namely the security of the Polish state – he continued.

– Perhaps in this debate, if Rafał Trzaskowski behaves like a man, not like a boy in leggings, we will also reach similar conclusions on some issues, but there are also things that certainly divide us today, and all voters should hear this before May 18th – stated Karol Nawrocki at a press conference in Końskie.

– We are talking about a radically left-wing politician, and that is Rafał Trzaskowski. Therefore, I am concentrating all my efforts on stopping Donald Tusk's plan to install Rafał Trzaskowski in the Presidential Palace. – I am ready for debates with anyone on many conventions, of course. We know that the devil is in the details of these debates; there are different television stations with varying degrees of, let's call it, identity, so the staffs will be dealing with that. I declare my readiness to debate important and significant matters with any counter-candidate; I am prepared and ready for it – stated Karol Nawrocki at a press conference in Końskie.

– This is not a normal situation where the prosecution, the Supreme Audit Office, and state television, along with other agencies of the Polish state, are fighting a civic candidate backed by PiS, meaning an opposition party and its candidate. – How do Sławomir Mentzen and I differ? Primarily, if studies were paid, I wouldn't be able to stand before you as a Doctor of Humanities, because I wouldn't have been able to afford higher education, just as millions of students in Poland today wouldn't be able to afford it. That is certainly how we differ – stated Karol Nawrocki at a press conference in Końskie.

– We finally have a clear announcement from the government and the Minister of Finance regarding the [tax-free] allowance. I am very pleased that this postulate will be implemented. We need a clear declaration, we need effectiveness. I guarantee you that I will be the guarantor of introducing [a higher] tax-free allowance as the President of the Republic, if you only elect me – said Rafał Trzaskowski at a press conference.

– It is necessary today to lower interest rates […]. I observe with surprise the current situation, where the President of the National Bank of Poland acts as a party apparatchik, rather than someone who should be acting for the benefit of the Polish economy […]. I call on the President to act as an independent person, not a party apparatchik, and to lower interest rates – said Rafał Trzaskowski at a press conference.

– If we adopt European law, first, of course, we co-decide, we co-create this law, in order to apply the iron rule: European law plus zero. So that we do not add any additional regulations to European law. Unfortunately, it has happened that sometimes some ministers had ideas to add all sorts of regulatory provisions to EU legislation. Such practices must end – said Rafał Trzaskowski at a press conference.

– If any significant, agreed-upon, sensible regulatory provision is introduced, then in return, two other regulatory provisions should be removed from Polish law. If we have one provision that is introduced, which affects the operations of our entrepreneurs, two other provisions should go into the bin. […] 2 for 1 is another very clear proposal – he continued.

– Yesterday, I heard about Mentzen's new five, five new proposals. The first proposal is that university studies should be paid for, that's what Mentzen says. 300,000 students are currently studying in Poland for free; this is a tremendous achievement for our country and our democracy. Is this a proposal for young people to pay for their studies? – said Rafał Trzaskowski at a press conference.

– The second point I heard about is the liquidation of 800+. […] Mentzen says: let's abolish the 13th and 14th pensions; this is the third point of his program. Is this common sense, seriously? – he continued.

– Two further proposals, which are perhaps the most outrageous for all of us, namely paid healthcare, this is something truly unprecedented […]. The fifth thing is that unqualified doctors are supposed to treat us, meaning that if anyone has a problem, they should go to a healer? This is truly unprecedented; we live in the 21st century – he went on to say.

– I am deeply moved by this statement and truly great seriousness is needed here, because these five proposals by Mentzen, which I have just mentioned, are simply a violation of the principles of rational conversation and common sense. However, it is simply a scandal to talk about rape as an unpleasantness? It is unbelievable that such words could be used by a politician in Poland, because it must cause our outrage – said Rafał Trzaskowski at a press conference.

– I have always stood and continue to stand guard over women's rights. […] Forcing women to give birth to children conceived by rape is probably one of the most outrageous proposals I have ever heard, and moreover, the use of such language should never take place in Polish public debate – he continued.

– I called on President Andrzej Duda to sign this law, and I am glad that after a few days the President decided to sign it, because today we must primarily secure Poland's border. We are unfortunately dealing with a hybrid war on our eastern border today, and the eastern border must be the safest border in Europe – said Rafał Trzaskowski at a press conference, when asked about the suspension of asylum law.

– It is very important that we have such regulations, which in extreme situations [...] will allow us to suspend asylum law in order to defend the Polish border. But please pay attention to these regulations, they also clearly contain a number of provisions that precisely take into account a humanitarian approach – he continued.

– The Border Guard will decide. If there is a specific situation where someone is fleeing from Putin or from Lukashenko, and faces death, then the guard will be able to make an exceptional decision. If they encounter a child, if they encounter a pregnant woman, the guard will then be able to make a decision. But these must be exceptions, absolute exceptions, because the rule today should be a firm securing of the border – he further elaborated.

– I have one postulate for all my competitors, namely, that they should primarily put forward sensible proposals, not absolutely outlandish ones. [...] I propose a debate about what needs to be changed, what is absolutely rational, and today this common sense should dominate our conversation [...] it should also dominate in political debate – said Rafał Trzaskowski at a press conference.

– The abolition of free healthcare or the abolition of free studies, is that supposed to be the rational debate they are proposing to us today? And all of this amid a general outcry of “let's debate!”, “let's talk!”, “let's debate!”. I am always ready for conversation and debate, but only for a rational debate – he continued.

– The campaign teams are talking [...] about what kind of debate we should have. We are having a debate, we are talking, but above all, rationally – he went on to say.

– In January, the 3 main television stations: TVP, Polsat, and TVN24 extended an invitation for a candidate debate. We immediately responded with a YES! Let’s agree on the details and debate. – I must say that this meeting was truly a very positive summary of the changes that have taken place in Europe in recent years, and especially in recent months. All, without exception, presented the same stance, a stance towards Russian aggression, towards the necessity of helping Ukraine in its defense, confronting aggressive Russia. An identical stance regarding sanctions against Russia, regarding the necessary effort on our part to maintain the best possible relations with the USA, even if circumstances don’t always favour it, but we are all aware that NATO, Europe, we are all safer when this cooperation with the USA is at the highest possible level – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press briefing in Paris.

– The cooperation of these states that met in Paris today will also involve seeking solutions that aren’t always typical. For example, to extend sanctions against Russia, and we probably cannot count on Budapest here, you are all familiar with this whole story, so among other things, I raised this need to seek such ways, methods, that will allow for a common European policy towards Russia, even if Hungary is not interested in it – he continued.

– All the leaders speaking today were characterized by exceptionally evident common sense, pragmatism, and also determination. I think I can say without false modesty that the view I put forward, perhaps on behalf of all of us in Poland, that Europe has changed, and this is perhaps one of the most important consequences of this war, is that Europe has lost all illusions about Russia, Europe has stopped being naive, it has started to believe in the need to build its own strength – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press conference in Paris.

– This unanimity was, although it had been looming for a long time, truly surprising, its level, its intensity – he continued.

– I had the feeling that today we truly constituted a community on this issue, the issue of security, support for Ukraine, and our attitude towards Russia – added the Prime Minister.

– We are slowly finalizing the treaty between Poland and France. I hope we will be ready to sign this treaty soon, and for now, I won't reveal the details, but there is a strong indication that it could be a groundbreaking treaty regarding mutual security guarantees – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press briefing in Paris.

– Today it is clearly visible that Putin is not interested in a ceasefire. President Zelensky and Ukraine showed maximum goodwill during these talks in Saudi Arabia and unconditionally agreed to a ceasefire. It was the Russians who started setting completely unrealistic conditions – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press briefing in Paris.

– I share your concern that such rumors, perhaps only prompted by the Russian side, but such rumors [regarding Nord Stream] do appear from time to time, and they have nothing to do with Europe's strategy, which involves actions aimed at fully freeing us from supplies of energy raw materials from Russia, and with a Europe that is thinking about strengthening sanctions, not resuming economic relations with Russia, because these sanctions are truly effective – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press briefing in Paris.

– What we are dealing with on the Polish-Belarusian border is a planned operation by the Russian and Belarusian states, luring potential migrants from the Middle East, training them, transporting them to Belarus, and pushing them into the European Union with a very clear political idea: to use these migrants and the fear of them to strengthen far-right parties within the European Union and thus, through a political process, to destabilize the European Union from within. Unfortunately, we have such politicians in Poland who want to help Russia in this endeavor – stated Radosław Sikorski in a press briefing.

– You cannot create a program if someone is empathetic, if someone truly talks to Poles, a program that is directed only at rich people, at healthy people, and at young people who, as I said, must be rich and healthy at the same time. – In terms of the normality that is being taken away from us every day by ideological pressure in schools […], by foreign ideologies, that is, the Green Deal, by museums, because my main opponent, Rafał Trzaskowski, built such a museum in the capital city of Warsaw. It's called Rafał Trzaskowski's Museum, and children are coerced there, through this museum, to undermine their identity awareness, or rather, their gender awareness – said Karol Nawrocki in Staszów.

– What is, how would we define it, the worst-case scenario for Poland, for NATO, for our security. That is, a pro-Russian warlord taking the reins of government in Ukraine, because then, on the border with Poland, we would have the strongest and best-trained army in Europe, meaning the Ukrainian army, which would then not be, because I understand he also takes over the entire command of the state, friendly disposed – said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz on TVN24.

– This is, of course, the worst scenario and we must never allow it to happen, which is why supporting Ukraine's pro-Western aspirations is in Poland's interest. This is why helping a fighting Ukraine is in Poland's interest – he added.

– It is impossible to [organize] this operation without the presence of Americans. I am not talking about the presence of Americans in Ukraine, but Americans, the American military, must be part of the operation. The very inclusion of the United States as a guarantor of Ukraine's security is simply crucial, and Ukraine cannot be a neutral, demilitarized zone; it must have its own military – stated Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz on the program "Fakty po Faktach" on TVN24.

– Europe and the United States are producing too little ammunition, significantly too little. Thank God Europe has woken up. I mention Slovakia because Slovakia is actually one of the countries with the greatest capacity for ammunition production, but Europe has finally woken up. Poland has a chance to secure PLN 100 billion to support the arms industry in particular – stated Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz on TVN24.

– I think that when I look at the industry, both Polish now and our allies in Europe, and the investments that are being made, it's a matter of 2-3 years when these capabilities will increase severalfold – he continued.

– We are making up for lost time. Over many recent years, the construction of ammunition factories was one of the first contracts, worth around 10 billion, that I signed in December 2023. We made this decision very quickly. A year ago, the transfer of 3 billion, including 2 billion from the Ministry of National Defence, for the construction of ammunition factories, which PGZ should be very intensively implementing right now – said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz on TVN24.

– We are dealing with a state of extreme lawlessness that leads to fatalities; we know this already at this moment, but also to the suffering of many other people, and to a state of uncertainty. And because one can say, using a Stalinist term, because the similarities here are clearly sharp, they spoke of the blade of legality, these people speak of restoring legality, so one can call this statement, still from the repertoire of Stalin or Vyshinsky, the famous Russian prosecutor, the blade of legality is directed against political enemies – stated Jarosław Kaczyński in wPolsce24.

I don't know if it's some isolated incident, but if these are indeed the views of these gentlemen, then it is very bad – stated Jarosław Kaczyński on wPolsce24.
