Excluding the Period of Global Shocks, Inflation is Currently the Highest in Over 20 Years

In the last few quarters, inflation has risen very sharply. In January, according to preliminary data, it stood at 5.3%, and in the second quarter of 2024, it was 2.5%. This means that inflation in Poland has more than doubled and significantly exceeds the NBP's inflation target – said Adam Glapiński at a press conference.

Excluding the period of global shocks from recent years, i.e., the pandemic and the energy shock related to Russian aggression in Ukraine, inflation is currently the highest in over 20 years – he continued.
