Tusk in Turkey with Erdogan

Prime Minister Donald Tusk will be visiting Turkey. The visit is linked to Poland's current presidency of the Council of the European Union and the prevailing geopolitical situation. The main topics of discussion will include Russia's war with Ukraine, allied cooperation, bilateral relations in political and economic dimensions, and Turkey-EU cooperation.

At 3:00 PM Polish time, the Prime Minister will meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Statements to the media are scheduled for 4:30 PM.

Kosiniak-Kamysz with E5 Defence Ministers Group

Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz is traveling to Paris to participate in a meeting of the Group of 5 Defence Ministers, along with the defence ministers of France, Germany, Italy, and the United Kingdom, as well as invited guests: the Ukrainian Minister of Defence and representatives from NATO and the EU.

The meeting is intended to address the current security situation in Europe, including the rearmament of Europe and efforts towards a just peace to end the war in Ukraine instigated by Russia.

The welcoming ceremony is scheduled for 2:50 PM, followed by a press conference at 6:30 PM.

President at the Three Seas Initiative Local Government Congress

At 10:00 AM, President Andrzej Duda will participate in the Three Seas Initiative Local Government Congress taking place in Lublin. The head of state is scheduled to deliver a speech.

Trzaskowski in Zielona Góra, Nawrocki in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship

Civic Platform (KO) presidential candidate Rafał Trzaskowski will visit Zielona Góra. A visit to LUG Light Factory in the Kostrzyń-Słubice Special Economic Zone is scheduled for 1:00 PM. An open meeting will commence in Zielona Góra at 5:00 PM.

Meanwhile, PiS-backed candidate Karol Nawrocki is heading to the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship. A meeting with firefighters from OSP Wielkie Rychnowo is scheduled for 12:30 PM. Open meetings are planned for 4:30 PM (in the market square in Chełmno) and at 6:30 PM (in Grudziądz).

At 9:30 AM, the Sejm's Constitutional Accountability Committee will begin its deliberations. In a closed session, it will hear testimony from a number of witnesses concerning the preliminary motion to bring the head of the National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT), Maciej Świrski, before the State Tribunal.

A press conference of PiS MPs, including Przemysław Czarnek, is scheduled for 11:00 AM in the Sejm. Later, at 3:00 PM in Krakow, a press conference will be held by Mariusz Błaszczak, Mateusz Małodziński, Łukasz Kmita, Andrzej Adamczyk, Agnieszka Ścigaj, Elżbieta Duda, Ryszard Terlecki, and Marek Pęk.

– A [30-day ceasefire coming into effect] is possible, because yesterday's developments cannot be called anything but a breakthrough in American-Ukrainian relations, which have been difficult in recent days. Ukraine has agreed to this. This has opened the way for further negotiations, and surely the fact that people will not be dying, that bombs, rockets, and drones will not be flying would be a very big step forward, and it is a test, a checkmate for Russia, to see what Russia will do at this moment – stated Tomasz Siemoniak in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on Radio Zet.

– Just as one could have the impression that time was working in Russia's favor in this entire situation, that ended yesterday, and now Russia must respond quickly – he continued.

– President Trump's advantage is that nobody knows what he might do in various situations. Consequently, Putin must also assume very bad scenarios. Besides, President Trump has mentioned this. For example, sanctions and certainly the destruction of a situation where Russia and Putin have a chance to emerge from this war. I believe Putin faces a huge dilemma as to what comes next, because such an opportunity may not present itself again. Let's remember, we are currently talking about a 30-day ceasefire – stated Tomasz Siemoniak on Radio Zet.

– Poland's stance is clear, repeatedly expressed by Prime Minister Tusk, that we will not implement those parts of the migration pact that threaten Poland's security. We hold power here, this discussion is ongoing. A spokesperson is a spokesperson, they speak about a certain formal state, but in a political sense, and I participate in these councils, already 2 councils of interior ministers that are deliberating on issues of combating illegal migration, I see what the approach and attitude are – stated Tomasz Siemoniak on Radio Zet.

– There is no other leader in the world who spoke several months ago and has consistently implemented what Trump has done. Nobody in the world was talking about the need to bring an end to the armed conflict in Ukraine, that the condition for this is simply a ceasefire and tough negotiations with Russia – said Przemysław Czarnek on Polsat News's "Graffiti".

– Everyone was saying: we fight until the last Ukrainian. Well, no. We are fighting Russia, but sensibly. Because after 3 years of war in Ukraine, the state is dying demographically. […] Further loading of equipment without restraint and forcing Ukrainians to fight continuously is the depletion of Ukraine – he added.

– We need to suspend hostilities. If only Russia agreed to what happened tonight, it would be a huge success. 30 days of peace for Ukrainians, who for the first time in 3 years will not be afraid to leave their homes to take their children to kindergarten and will not die on the front line. […] This is time to start peace negotiations – he continued.

– It is possible [to introduce checks at the border with Germany] – stated Tomasz Siemoniak on Radio Zet.

– "Reset" is a word that is tragically associated with us, because Sikorski and Tusk initiated it. […] There is only one thing we must say: the United States' relations with Russia are the United States' relations with Russia. Our relations with Russia are our relations with Russia – said Przemysław Czarnek in "Graffiti" on Polsat News.

– How the US builds them with Russia is sovereign American policy. In all of this, we must find our own interest. […] The fact that the US will arrange relations with Russia in such a way that perhaps Putin will go to Washington or Trump will go to Moscow, is a matter of US-Russian relations. This does not mean that we are entering any kind of reset and saying: Putin is good. No, Putin is a genocidaire – he continued.

– They [Polish politicians] shouldn't applaud Musk [in the dispute with Radosław Sikorski] – said Przemysław Czarnek on Polsat News' "Graffiti".

– So, if Arkadiusz Mularczyk writes 'apologies for Sikorski', and Katarzyna Sójka 'thank you, Elon Musk'… – Marcin Fijołek inquired.

– And that is a completely different matter. If you are asking about Musk's words themselves, I state that I do not endorse them. However, it is not my role as a politician of the Polish state and a representative of my constituents to examine the aesthetics of statements made by politicians from other countries. My role is [...] to look after the interests of the Polish nation – the PiS MP replied.

He continued: – In this context, on the other hand, I look at the absurd behavior of Foreign Minister Sikorski, who decided on Sunday evening to pick a quarrel with the most important American politicians on social media. […] Let's look at our interests. One cannot argue, without even being provoked, […] with the Secretary of State of a country whose help our security depends on.

– Sikorski engaging in polemics, who is on the blacklist of the Trump administration, a large part of which, in turn, wants to withdraw from Europe, is extreme irresponsibility on the part of the Polish Foreign Minister. Of course, he can [engage in polemics] – through diplomatic channels – he stated.

Security is a paramount value, and as President of the Republic of Poland, I have always emphasized this. – On the one hand, we have our own ideas for taxes, and certainly this idea from our internal side, a digital tax, could be considered. On the other hand, we have these external conditions, which are more difficult than ever – said Przemysław Czarnek in "Graffiti" on Polsat News.

When asked if, for the good of relations with the USA, a digital tax should not be introduced for now, he replied: – I am not saying that. Everything needs to be considered. I think we will consider it precisely in this context.

– There's a joke, told publicly by law professors, where a teacher asks children what jobs their fathers do. According to the PiS MP: – Facing what people like Chmaj do, today it is a disgrace to be a law professor. If a constitutional lawyer doesn't see the binding legal provisions, the electoral code, Article 324 – which clearly states: the Supreme Court shall confirm the validity of the elections within 30 days of the National Electoral Commission making the election results public – then who is this person? Because he is certainly not a lawyer.

– We have a wide range of polls. We view these very optimistic polls as a risk factor in the campaign, meaning that a candidate can be boosted initially, then lowered before the election, or told they performed poorly, so we prefer to work calmly to build public trust, the trust of Poles – stated Krzysztof Bosak in the program ,,Bez uników" on PR3.

– In professional sociometry, which is what this field of knowledge is called, the poll average is examined and observed, and what clearly emerges from the poll average is that there is an upward trend for the Confederation candidate Sławomir Mentzen. We are happy about this, and thank you for it, we ask for more. However, the poll average does not yet indicate an advantage over Karol Nawrocki, and I believe that we must approach this competition with great humility and diligence – he continued.

– In my opinion, there is no [openness to a ceasefire from Russia]. However, of course, the Ukrainian side's public declaration and President Trump's entire campaign have put Russia and Putin in a difficult situation at the moment, because if they refuse, it will be black and white that they want this war and want to push forward. On the international stage, there are countries like Poland and countries in our region that have formed an opinion about Russia, but there are also many other countries from other continents that are not at all convinced who is actually to blame – said Krzysztof Bosak on PR3.

– In the background, there is fundamentally a difference in expectations and interests. Ukraine would like to end this war, having already sacrificed many of its people's lives and a lot of assets and land they've lost. They would like to end this war with something concrete, but as we can see, Americans do not want to give the Ukrainian side anything concrete, and simply, as I put it in another program, they want to opt out of this war – said Krzysztof Bosak on PR3.

– What matters in international politics is hard, own strength that can be applied, and possibly alliances with the closest neighbors who share the same sense of threat. States that are further away, which have a differently formed sense of threat and also have different interests, especially in democratic systems, one must consider that they will hesitate 10 times before endangering their soldiers – stated Krzysztof Bosak on PR3.

– The issue of mandatory [military training] is purely virtual at the moment, because if there are no facilities, there is no possibility to force anyone into anything. I believe we should start with voluntary training, make a good offer for voluntary training, and then create some incentives – said Krzysztof Bosak in PR3.

– In my opinion, we shouldn't allow this dispute over the judiciary to be exploited from the outside, and at the moment we are in a situation where we have positioned international organizations and tribunals as arbiters of who is a judge in Poland. We should be the ones deciding here – stated Krzysztof Bosak on PR3.

– We are satisfied with these new proposals and new ideas for averting Russian aggression in Ukraine. We are in constant contact, but nothing beats a direct conversation about the entire agenda of Polish-Ukrainian and Ukrainian-European relations – stated Radosław Sikorski at a press briefing with the head of Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

– I confirm that arms deliveries via Jasionka have returned to previous levels. I understand that Starlinks are also working – said Sikorski.

– The matter is of paramount importance from the perspective of Poland’s interests and our security as well. We will discuss the role of Poland and Turkey in stabilizing the region, assess the first round of talks that concluded in Saudi Arabia between Ukraine and the USA, and explore the potential involvement of both Turkey and Poland in ensuring lasting calm and peace in the region, including on the Russian-Ukrainian border – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk before departing for Turkey.

– It is very important for Poland that, since we have agreed on this, and I hope no one in Poland will question it anymore, that Polish soldiers will concentrate on defending Poland's borders, especially with Russia and Belarus, and from our point of view, it is crucial that NATO and European states simultaneously effectively guarantee stability after achieving a ceasefire and peace on the Russian-Ukrainian border. Turkey’s role could be crucial here – he continued.

– I also have an unequivocally positive assessment of what happened yesterday during the talks between representatives of Ukraine and the USA. As you know, the situation is very complicated, and for us, it is a matter of paramount importance that an agreement between Ukraine and the USA is reached as soon as possible, following the turbulence we have witnessed. And I probably wasn't exaggerating when I said yesterday in my initial reaction to the conclusion of this phase of talks that it is a serious step towards peace – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk before departing for Turkey.

– The Ukrainian side is probably not mistaken in saying this is a genuine positive breakthrough. And it is very important for us that such a good, positive adjustment has occurred on both sides, and that both Americans and the Ukrainian side have managed to find many more common issues and stances, and in a sense, have built a common language. And for us, this is an absolutely fundamental matter. To have on our side a Ukraine that is secure, that does not capitulate, okay, that accepts certain conditions dictated by reality, reasonable ones, but at the same time independent and not subjected to Moscow's influence – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk before departing for Turkey.

– It is too early to declare success, but the sense of relief is palpable and in the air, probably not just in Warsaw – he continued.

– I will repeat my appeal to the opposition once again. I understand, the opposition is quivering today, it cannot help or does not want to, but it is very important not to spread disinformation, because these are matters of our security. If today this quivering opposition cannot help the homeland, because I know it will not want to help the government, then it would be good if, at least as it happened this morning, they would not lie, not misinform, because here every word matters – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk before departing for Turkey.

Poland is already a logistics hub today, and I want to reiterate the full readiness of all our units in Rzeszów, the entire hub at Jasionka Airport, which is fully prepared to transfer allied aid to Ukraine. European aid, but it is a very good decision that American aid is also starting. Today, we have information that the first shipments of equipment that were halted last week, and have already been delivered to Poland, will be able to reach Ukraine – stated Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz before departing for Paris.

– This has stirred up quite a bit of emotion. As you know, we are currently seeing certain new trends globally regarding customs and tax policy, so in line with this new trend, I can say – we will impose these taxes, or perhaps we won't. For now, there is no work on such a project in the government, but Prime Minister Gawkowski is preparing potential drafts. As you know, we are thinking about serious, joint investments. We need these investments, good cooperation, in various aspects, from energy to military, in practically every field, so in line with current trends, I can say that we shall see – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk before departing for Turkey.

– A decade of the Three Seas Initiative is a decade of concrete strategic infrastructure projects that have brought us closer, bringing the countries of the Adriatic, Baltic, and Black Seas closer together in a way that, I can boldly say today, has never been seen before – said Andrzej Duda at the Local Government Congress of the Three Seas in Lublin.

And what Sikorski is doing, what other representatives of this government, Donald Tusk, are doing, various provocations, playing the role of heroes who claim that Europe can manage on its own, is provoking a giant. – But that doesn't mean we're not thinking about women's rights and equality all the time, because it is absolutely the most important thing for me and for all of us. I wanted to tell you one thing: we don't think about it, I don't think about it only on special occasions – he indicated.

– My wife – though I imagine such conversations happen in every household – often says: we (women) always have an uphill battle, we always have to prove something, we always work more. […] Let's not fool ourselves, in our difficult reality, it very often ends up that it's the woman, the girl, who works harder […], if only because we still have a gender pay gap and men simply earn more – said Rafał Trzaskowski in Zielona Góra.

– It's an unbelievable injustice that women have to prove something all the time. I would really like – and this is the Poland I dream of – that no girl, no woman would ever have to prove anything to anyone again. Because women are simply better educated, they are better, they are more responsible. That is why today we so desperately need full rights for all women – he emphasized.

– Without women, we wouldn’t have had freedom 100 years ago. Without women and without your engagement, we wouldn’t have democracy in Poland today, because the 2023 elections would have turned out differently, I am absolutely convinced of that – said Rafał Trzaskowski in Zielona Góra.

As he stated: – Today, we need you again, and today we are again asking for your engagement, even though it’s not easy. Even though a lot has happened […], but we all know that much more must happen.

– We want laboratories of the future, and we do not want experiments on our children's identity. Ladies and gentlemen, we are here so that in a good Polish school, children can learn who we are and what expectations lie ahead of us. For so many decades, all of us had homework and we received a proper education, ladies and gentlemen. We want schools with homework, and we do not want schools with smartphones. Our children are our future, which is why we need a good Polish school – stated Karol Nawrocki in Chełmno.

– We need to halt the depopulation process of the Polish state. Halt this process and in taxes, because the taxes I will propose through my legislative initiatives, which are my contract with you, Karol Nawrocki's contract with Polish women and men, these taxes must be low, simple, and pro-family. Therefore, my initiative will include tax exemptions for parents, families with at least two children. We must exempt these parents from taxes so that more of us are born, this is essential – said Karol Nawrocki in Chełmno.

– Regarding security, I expect my main opponent to finally state his position on the security of the Polish state. For me, the security of the Polish state means strategically and potentially defending every inch of Poland, and the Vistula River line does not constitute any cutoff here – stated Karol Nawrocki in Chełmno.

– As you know, on the Oder, Polish patriots are fulfilling their duty to Poland, because Donald Tusk's government doesn't want to tell us the truth about illegal migrants in Poland. Our citizens are standing there and fighting to prevent a wave of illegal migration from overwhelming us. Let's thank them from Chełmno for guarding our border – stated Karol Nawrocki in Chełmno.

– I guarantee you that I will lead you to a safe Poland. To the realization for all of us that allies only defend those who can defend themselves. We should also clearly state in this context that there is only one Poland, and those who wanted to build a dam of Poland's security on the Vistula betrayed the interests of half of Poland, and we should never forget that – said Karol Nawrocki in Chełmno.

– And this is also what I expect from my main opponent, to whom I am speaking through the cameras. I ask for a clear declaration on Poland's role in the North Atlantic Alliance and why your boss, Mr. Rafał, Donald Tusk, is building an alternative to NATO through vague promises of building the armed forces of the European Union. Let the European Union deal with grants and financial resources, and leave our military, our army, and our alliance in NATO alone – said Karol Nawrocki in Chełmno.

– When I hear that one of my rivals is saying that a woman should be forced to give birth after rape, I wonder what country I'm living in. And I'll tell you more: some people fall for it and want to vote for this gentleman because he has a smooth face and it seems like he only talks about the economy – Rafał Trzaskowski said in Zielona Góra.

– I appeal to you for one thing: really listen to what politicians say, but above all, check what they do. Because credibility and effectiveness are the most important – he added.

– We've done it – in Warsaw, the gender pay gap is less than one percent. Just under one percent too much, to be clear. However, the situation in Poland is completely different. We really need to ensure that in practice, there is equal pay for equal work. There is no place for a gender pay gap in the 21st century – said Rafał Trzaskowski in Zielona Góra.

– Look at Jarosław Kaczyński. […] How on earth do we want to agree to have decisions about the future of our children, our grandchildren, decisions about women's rights made by a guy who is completely out of touch? Who is a solitary man, who hasn’t gone for a walk, hasn’t been to the shop for 30 years, hasn’t been to the park. He has no concept of family, he doesn’t know what he has cooked up for our kids in schools – said Rafał Trzaskowski in Zielona Góra.

– And he is supposed to make decisions, he is supposed to be the alpha and omega on women's rights? Because let’s not fool ourselves – what kind of Nawrocki are we talking about? God forbid, Andrzej Duda would seem like an ideal president to all of us in comparison to what’s being prepared for us. There’s nothing to laugh about here – he assessed.

– I implore you, personally: let’s not surprise ourselves to the point where we’d miss Andrzej Duda. […] Don’t do this to us – he added.

– We promised to change this medieval anti-abortion law. I promise you I will not give up. I have heard many bitter words saying enough talk, it’s time to finally do it. We need to exert pressure – said Rafał Trzaskowski in Zielona Góra.

– I know that today our colleagues from the ruling, coalition parties often hide behind President Andrzej Duda, they use President Duda as an alibi. We must take this alibi away from them, in order to change this law – he declared.

He added: – I promise you that the pressure will be such that they will all finally come to the appropriate conclusions. And if not, I will submit my own bill.

– This is an appeal to all girls and women: if your partner, boyfriend, husband wants to make a stupid decision, at least ask him: what are you doing? Who do you want to vote for? – said Rafał Trzaskowski in Zielona Góra.

– In the end, I say this from my own experience, no one puts us straight quite like our girlfriends. Therefore, I ask you very much, girls, straighten out all these guys who have stupid ideas in their heads – he stated.

– We are doing everything to ensure Poland is safe, so that the East Shield becomes a common undertaking for all of Europe. In the European Parliament, only Russia's henchmen voted against. Including… PiS! The illusion is over – wrote Prime Minister Donald Tusk on social media.

Why has the giant awoken, what are the arguments confirming this thesis, why has Europe awoken. Firstly, every European country is increasing its defense spending. This is the biggest increase since the end of the Cold War – stated Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz in Paris.

Kosiniak-Kamysz: Europe as a Community is Creating a Program for Building a Strong Defense Industry for the First Time

– Secondly, Europe as a European community is creating a program for building a strong industry, investing in the defense and armament industry, and prioritizing defense spending for the first time, as confirmed by the resolution adopted today in the European Parliament. It points to key investments such as the East Shield or the Baltic Defense Line. It loosens the financial corset that prevented some countries from investing in defense; defense spending will not be included in the deficit – he continued.

– 500 million Europeans deserve a strength that will defend peace. 500 million Europeans deserve a strength that will give peace to Ukraine; this is our serious commitment – said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz in Paris.

– We receive with hope the decisions coming from Saudi Arabia, from the American-Ukrainian talks, and today, differently than two weeks ago, we can clearly say that transatlantic relations and support for Ukraine are once again uniting both the North Atlantic Alliance and Western civilization – stated Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz in Paris.

– This support for Ukraine has returned, I can say that. This morning I spoke with officers at the airport in Rzeszów, in Jasionka, a place where since the second day of the war we have been transferring equipment and humanitarian and military aid for fighting Ukraine – he added.

– This scandal that happened in the European Parliament is inexplicable to me. This [the vote by PiS and Konfederacja MEPs on a resolution to which an amendment concerning the Eastern Shield was adopted] is stupidity bordering on treason. There is no explanation for this – said Jan Grabiec in an interview with Monika Olejnik on TVN24’s „Kropka nad i”.

– It was a resolution in which MEPs from all European countries [...] generally acknowledged that investment is needed in Poland’s Eastern Shield, in the eastern flank. Money needs to be invested in armaments, in strengthening Europe's and Poland's defense industry, so that we are stronger against Russia, which is, incidentally, a demand from Donald Trump, this American administration, [...] which states that Europe must finally start taking care of its own security – he continued.

– The facts are that the government is not working on a digital tax, and there has been no decision to include it in any government work – he stated.
