– I requested such a decision from the Prime Minister, and the Prime Minister made that decision yesterday [to dismiss Mariusz Feltynowski from the position of Commander-in-Chief of the State Fire Service] – said Tomasz Siemoniak in an interview with Mariusz Piekarski on TVP Info’s “Gość poranka” (Morning Guest).
– I can say that the reasons for this resignation are not related to the period when Commander Feltynowski held his position, because he held that position well. I recall the September flood and the actions of the fire service, which were highly praised by public opinion. This pertains to the time before he held this position and matters unrelated to his activities as a firefighter – he continued.
– These matters are subject to the actions of various state bodies, and I should not comment on them here. Such a decision has been made; Brigadier General Wojciech Kruczek – an experienced, excellent firefighter, until yesterday the Silesian commander – is the new commander – he continued.
When asked if the Collegium Humanum affair was behind it, he replied: – This information has been public for some time. However, it is within the purview of the prosecutor's office to assess whether a given person is a victim of this procedure, as there were people who simply studied, or whether some irregularities occurred that the prosecutor's office might suspect. There are many such people whose names have appeared in the public sphere, but there is no generalization here. Each situation is different.
When pressed whether, as minister, he had received information from the prosecutor's office that the former head of the fire service was among those appearing in the investigation into illegally obtained education at Collegium Humanum, he cut short: – I will not speak on this matter. These are issues that are between me and Commander Feltynowski, with whom I spoke.

Siemoniak:
We Will Not Allow the Crime Remembered from the 90s to Enter Poland
– We are trying to nip it in the bud, hence the very intensive actions of the police and the Border Guard. I will remind you, the operation on February 13-14, we reported – 26,000 police officers, a thousand Border Guard officers set out to reach places where individuals suspected of criminal activity might be located. 1,500 people were detained. Arrests, there will be deportations – said Tomasz Siemoniak in "Gość poranka" on TVP Info.
– We will not allow the crime, the kind remembered from the 90s, organized, brutal crime, to enter Poland. I am saying this very clearly, this is also the firm will of Prime Minister Donald Tusk – he stated.
– From approximately the middle of last year, at subsequent briefings with police officers, we were preparing to strike decisively and strongly, and also to show abroad to those who think that Poland can be a stage for their criminal activities that there is no room here. […] We want to nip it in the bud – he indicated.

Zajączkowska-Hernik on Mentzen:
He is Crossing His Own Boundaries in This Campaign.
– Definitely. If we didn’t have this belief [that a second round is possible], we wouldn’t be fielding our candidate. However, I am enormously impressed by the amount of work Sławomir Mentzen is putting into his campaign, how he is crossing his own boundaries in this campaign, and what goal he has set for himself – to visit all Polish poviats (districts) – stated Ewa Zajączkowska-Hernik in an interview with Marcin Fijołek on Polsat News’ “Graffiti”.
08:40
Zajączkowska-Hernik:
We Will Meet Poles Until the Last Possible Moment and We Are Doing Our Job
– We are doing our job. Sławomir Mentzen has his route planned essentially until the last day of the election campaign. We will be meeting with Poles until the last possible moment and we are doing our job, while what other candidates are doing is up to their campaign staffs – stated Ewa Zajączkowska-Hernik on Polsat News' "Graffiti".
08:43
– The phenomenon of Konfederacja is that we are winning voters from virtually all sides; we are winning voters from Third Way, which is evident in Marshal Hołownia's desperate behavior. We are winning voters from PiS who are simply tired of PiS, of PiS's lies, and of the fact that PiS has also not taken responsibility for 8 years of their rule – stated Ewa Zajączkowska-Hernik in "Graffiti" on Polsat News.
08:49
– They can, but they don't have to – said Krzysztof Bosak in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on the "Gość Radia ZET" program, when asked if breathalyzers should be installed in the Sejm and Senate.
– I believe it wouldn't hurt, because I believe in the deterrent function of such solutions, and the problem of blurring lines between work and time after work, treated more as rest, some team-building meetings, it sometimes gets blurred in the parliamentary complex due to the fact that it's three steps from the places where one works to the places where one rests, i.e., the parliamentary hotel, the restaurant – he continued.
08:53
Bosak:
Our Policy Towards America Was Often Simply Following Orders
– Unfortunately, our policy towards America has often been simply a policy of taking orders. And in my opinion, in international politics, partners who negotiate toughly, who have some resources, who have something to offer, are valued, not those who want to be the most subservient. The most subservient are not respected – said Krzysztof Bosak on Radio ZET.
08:56
of criminals:
There is no place for them in Poland." Siemoniak announces "series of deportations
– In the near future, this requires document preparation, there will be a whole series of deportations by plane. Of course, when it comes to Ukrainian citizens, these deportations are not by plane, but we deliver them to the border. These are often people who […] are simply conscripted into the Ukrainian army – said Tomasz Siemoniak on TVP Info’s “Guest of the Morning”.
– There are, of course, the most Ukrainian citizens in Poland, the vast majority of whom work honestly, earn money, and function. However, to those who are dishonest, who commit crimes, we say: there is no place for them in Poland – he stated.
“Deportations concern individuals whose crimes are of a lighter nature”
– I expect the numbers this year to be higher [than last year, when 8,000 deportations occurred] – he added.
– Of course, we also remember that those who are perpetrators of crimes are serving time in Poland. Deportations concern those individuals whose crimes are of a lighter nature. A large part of these are offenses related to overstaying a visa without permission, working without permission, and notorious traffic violations. […] These individuals [who have committed serious crimes], if arrested in Poland, will be tried in Poland. Of course, there are agreements that such individuals can later serve their prison sentences in their home country – he continued.
09:04
– Classic international politics involves achieving objectives related to one's own national interests, one's own raison d'état. We should have a list of several dozen, a hundred or so objectives stemming from our raison d'état, starting from historical policy and ending with international trade, and we should simply pursue these objectives one by one – Krzysztof Bosak said on Radio ZET.
– The Polish state has been occupied with being an advocate for handing out money to Ukraine. After all, what was our pre-war and pre-Maidan policy towards Ukraine based on? It was based on us lobbying within the European Union to give as much money as possible in that direction – he continued.
– Thinking in post-political terms means offering scholarships without setting any requirements, it means supporting NGOs in the spirit of George Soros and the European Commission, it is post-political thinking, it is convincing ourselves that we are building some kind of soft power, while in reality, we are simply acting like suckers – he went on to say.
09:07
Bosak:
We Need Deportation Centers, Not Integration Centers
– We protest against all centers because we believe it is the wrong direction for migration policy. We need deportation centers, not integration centers – said Krzysztof Bosak on Radio ZET.
09:12
Bosak:
Since there are things in AfD we disagree with, we should influence it and other German parties
– From the perspective that there are sometimes things that appear in AfD that we disagree with, we should strive, not only as Konfederacja, but as the entire Polish political scene, to influence this party and other parties from Germany – said Krzysztof Bosak on Radio ZET.
– For example, I joined the Polish-German group, I became its vice-chairman, in order to be able to talk with MPs and politicians from Germany, to understand their point of view and to show them the Polish point of view. This is what politics is about, not about insulting someone in the media – he continued.
09:15
Bosak:
I Support Universal Military Training, But Not in an 8-Month, Compulsory Form
– Regarding universal military training, I support the idea, but not in an 8-month, compulsory form. In my opinion, the armed forces must first prepare training for volunteers, shorter than 8 months. Once that functions well, then we can expand it evolutionarily – said Krzysztof Bosak on Radio ZET.
09:21
Bosak on Hołownia’s words about Mentzen:
Pathetic provocations. In the next show will he call him a grub, and then a cockroach?
– Pathetic provocations, very weak, outside of substantive issues. I think it would make sense to pause on this for a moment if there was some substantive accusation in Marshal Hołownia’s statement against our candidate, some element of programmatic polemics, but there is none of that – said Krzysztof Bosak on Radio ZET, when asked about Marshal Szymon Hołownia calling Sławomir Mentzen a “pest, a parasite on what we want to build in Poland today”.
– I don't know what he'll call him next, a grub, and then a cockroach? What does this refer to? – he continued.
09:30
Bosak on controls at the Polish-German border:
If Germany says an immigrant has been apprehended at the border, we accept them, and that's that.
– I was on a control at the German border and heard from Border Guard officers that the so-called principle of trust is being applied. That is, if Germany says an immigrant has been apprehended at the border strip, that they have just apprehended them and want to return them to us, then we simply accept them, applying the principle of trust, and that's that – said Krzysztof Bosak on Radio ZET.
– No documentation is presented to the Polish side, no documentation related to the interrogation or apprehension of this person, moreover, it doesn't have to be under currently concluded international agreements. […] We can refuse, but we don't – he continued.
09:37
Bosak on Envelope Elections:
The Matter is Quite Clear, Kaczyński and Morawiecki Had the Leading Role.
– I believe so – Krzysztof Bosak said on Radio ZET, when asked if Mateusz Morawiecki should be held responsible for the envelope elections.
– I don’t know. That’s a question for lawyers, what crimes were committed. […] From what I’ve seen so far from the commission’s work on the envelope elections, the politicians of the previous government acted quite cleverly, meaning they verbally commissioned various actions, and did not sign documents – he continued, when asked if Morawiecki should go to jail.
– In my opinion, the matter is quite clear that Jarosław Kaczyński and Mateusz Morawiecki had the leading role in the process, however, the court will have to assess the extent of the legal violations that occurred and their responsibility for it – he went on to say.
10:11
Hołownia on Breathalyzers:
I hope we achieve cross-party consensus.
– I hear that breathalyzers are meeting with opposition in the Senate. Unjustifiably. I have instructed the Chancellery of the Sejm to develop solutions that would allow for checking the sobriety of MPs in the plenary hall when there are doubts. Employees at work should be sober. I hope we achieve cross-party consensus on this matter – wrote Szymon Hołownia on social media.

10:19
Sawicki on Hołownia's Campaign:
The Last Call for the Campaign Team to Rethink Strategy.
– I think that Mr. Hołownia's campaign team, comprising members from Poland 2050 and the PSL, must draw conclusions from their limited activity so far. I understand that the role of Marshal, the second highest-ranking official in the state, is an important position and a good platform for self-promotion, but certainly not necessarily during a presidential campaign. Therefore, it truly seems like the last call for the team to rethink the strategy and the engagement of Szymon Hołownia and the leaders of both parties, so that this campaign can be more distinct – stated Marek Sawicki in an interview with Jacek Prusinowski on Radio Plus.
10:39
Morawiecki ahead of prosecution interrogation:
I am being prosecuted for wanting to organize the presidential election.
– Once again, I thank all the doctors, nurses, and medical professionals who, at that time, at the risk of their lives and health, decided to help others, treat others, save others. It was a terrible time, and we forgot about it too quickly, we have let slip from memory the terrible suffering we dealt with. It was a time of real horror in healthcare – stated Mateusz Morawiecki at a press briefing.
– At that time, brave decisions had to be made. And I was not afraid to make decisions that fulfilled the Constitution. The Constitution and its articles, such as Article 146, place responsibility on the government, on the prime minister, for maintaining public order and internal security, and what was happening in our country threatened the destabilization of the entire system – he continued.
– Today, I am being prosecuted for wanting to organize the presidential election. Article 128 of the Constitution imposes on the Council of Ministers the obligation to hold the presidential election within a period not earlier than 100 days before the end of the president's term and not later than 75 days before the end of the president's term. Therefore, organizing the presidential election was my duty, our duty, and if I had to make the decision again, or to order preparatory work for the execution and conduct of the elections, enabling the elections to be held, I would make the same decision again – the former prime minister added.
10:40
Morawiecki on KO Politicians:
They Should Be Accountable for Scuttling the Election, Which They Themselves Admitted.
– In reality, [KO] pursued their narrow interests, narrow party interests. No more than a week, maybe 10 days before we announced our intention to conduct the election by mail, the opposition voted in favor of conducting the election by mail for about 11-12 million people. Such elections were organized in countries most associated today with mature democracies in the world, the USA, Canada, but also Korea, Germany, here Bavaria, it was a normal mechanism for conducting the electoral process – stated Mateusz Morawiecki at a press briefing.
– Imagine what would have happened if we hadn't decided to commission the preparatory work for holding the presidential election? What an attack there would have been on me, as the Prime Minister, on our government, on our political camp, an attack that we are killing democracy. Wouldn't that be the case? Didn't Ms. Kidawa-Błońska, Mr. Budka, Mr. Trzaskowski, boast after those not held presidential elections, quoting them approximately, that they scuttled that election. They should be the ones accountable for scuttling the election, which they themselves, moreover, admitted to – he continued.

Tusk Responds to Trump’s Words:
The EU Wasn’t Formed to Screw Anyone.
– The EU wasn’t formed to screw anyone. Quite the opposite. It was formed to maintain peace, to build respect among our nations, to create free and fair trade, and to strengthen our transatlantic friendship. As simple as that – Prime Minister Donald Tusk wrote on social media.

Konfederacja Demands Punishment for Hołownia:
I Understand Pre-Election Panic, But Someone Has Gone One Bridge Too Far.
– I understand pre-election panic, but someone has gone one bridge too far. I am submitting a motion for the Speaker of the Sejm, Mr. Szymon Hołownia, to be reprimanded by the Parliamentary Ethics Committee for abusing his position, calling another MP and candidate for the President of the Republic of Poland, Sławomir Mentzen, a pest and a parasite, and for suggesting his (and Konfederacja's) pro-Russian actions – wrote MP Grzegorz Płaczek on social media.
– I understand what political dispute and campaign struggle for voter support entails, but… there are limits. Let's maintain a certain level – added the chairman of the Konfederacja club.
Rozumiem przedwyborczą panikę, ale ktoś jednak przeszedł o jeden most za daleko. – Regarding the contract signed today. This is a serious decision, stemming from our desire to be fully prepared to operate the equipment we are purchasing. Simply buying military equipment does not immediately grant us all the capabilities to use it. We began this training much earlier – stated Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz at a press conference.
– These 8 Apaches, which will arrive this year, we have an optimistic projection that it will be in June, at the latest by September. I would like the first option to be met, but the second one, September of this year, will certainly be met if any obstacles arise – he continued.
11:34
Kosiniak-Kamysz:
The Presence of American Troops in Europe is Crucial for Us
– For us, the presence of American troops is a crucial matter. I directly tell my colleagues from France, Germany, Great Britain, and Italy, during such meetings that regularly take place among the most significant countries in terms of defense spending, army size, and aid to Ukraine. Greater defense spending in Europe is intended to maintain the presence of American troops in Europe, not to replace it, and we want to maintain this presence – said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz at a press conference.

President Andrzej Duda has made changes to the Social Dialogue Council.
Appointed to the SRC are: Jakub Jaworowski (Minister of State Assets), Krzysztof Paszyk (Minister of Development and Technology), Marcin Kulasek (Minister of Science and Higher Education), and Marek Cierpiał-Wolan.
Dismissed from the SRC are: Dariusz Wieczorek and Dominik Rozkrut.
"Changes to the composition of the Social Dialogue Council are an important moment, because I always make them with the belief that in some sense, this exchange of members of the Social Dialogue Council [...] also has a revitalizing character, that the arrival and entry into the Social Dialogue Council of each new member [...] offers a chance for a certain impulse to re-energize the work of the Social Dialogue Council in the most positive sense of the word," said President Andrzej Duda.
During the ceremony, the President awarded Katarzyna Łażewska-Hrycko, former director of the Social Dialogue Council's office and Chief Labour Inspector, the Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta for outstanding merits in the development of social dialogue and for her work in protecting and ensuring workplace safety.

Mentzen:
We Spend Significantly More on Social Benefits for Ukrainians Than They Pay in Taxes
"When you count it up, it turns out that we spend much, much, much more on social benefits for Ukrainians alone than they pay in taxes here. What interest do we have in sending 800+ to Ukraine? We are constantly sending 800+ to Ukraine for children studying in Ukrainian schools in Ukraine" – said Sławomir Mentzen in a fragment of a conversation with Prof. Antoni Dudek posted on X on the Super Express channel.
"What interest do we have in treating Ukrainians in Poland who live in Ukraine, come to Poland for treatment, and don't even pay health contributions? […] This is not a matter of [state apparatus] ineffectiveness, it is a matter of law. The law states that a Pole in Poland must pay health contributions to be treated, while a Ukrainian does not. Why?" – he continued.

Trzaskowski:
Poland Must Be Innovative, Bet on Its Own Companies
– Poland must be innovative, Poland must bet on its own companies, its own solutions, and the President of the Republic of Poland should be a patron of these types of companies, a patron of an innovative economy. We discussed this today, and I think we will be focusing on it in the coming days – stated Rafał Trzaskowski in Łódź.
12:48
– One of these things is the promise that the president, wherever he travels on world visits, will take Polish entrepreneurs, including innovative ones, with him and promote them around the world, opening doors for them to develop and conquer the world – stated Rafał Trzaskowski in Łódź.
12:55
Duda on the Social Dialogue Council:
She Contributed to the Positive Changes That Have Occurred in Poland.
– I had the honor of appointing the first composition of the [Social Dialogue] Council myself, already as the incumbent President of the Republic of Poland […] including today's session, I have participated in 9 plenary sessions of the Council […] nearly a decade of the Council's operation has indeed proven the value of the social dialogue formula in this form – said President Andrzej Duda during a session of the Social Dialogue Council.
– There's no point in hiding it, views and demands regarding various important matters clashed in this forum, as we say, many times it was not possible to reach a compromise, but there was always an effort to work towards that compromise, and that is the most important thing – he continued.
– These achievements of the Social Dialogue Council allow us to speak with satisfaction […] with absolute certainty, the Council, its work, these voices that were heard here, these discussions that took place here, have contributed to the positive changes that have occurred in Poland over the last 10 years – he went on to say.
13:51
Bodnar on Morawiecki:
The most important thing is that he showed up, that charges could be brought against him.
– As I understand it, the Prime Minister [Morawiecki] has adopted this procedural tactic [refusal to testify], but I still think the most important thing is that he showed up, that charges could be brought against him; from the prosecutor’s perspective, as I understand it, this is the step that is expected to move the case forward – Adam Bodnar told journalists.
– In this case, we have hard documents on the table, a ruling, a judgment from the Supreme Administrative Court which speaks of a blatant violation of the law by the Prime Minister, and we also have the conclusions of the investigative committee led by Dariusz Joński, which indicate this – he continued.
13:59
Bodnar on regulations concerning paramedics:
We will present the draft regulations in the coming days.
– It is important that we simply react on an ongoing basis and take all actions so that paramedics, all other individuals, feel safe throughout their service, from the moment they enter work until they leave – said Adam Bodnar in a conversation with journalists.
– We are moving forward with preparing the Prosecutor General's guidelines regarding the safety of paramedics. […] we will also consider amending the regulations concerning the status of paramedics as public officials and generally supplementing the protection of public officials in certain specific situations – he continued.
– This will be an tightening [of regulations], but one that will fit perfectly into the entire systematic framework of the Penal Code. I think we will present these draft regulations in the coming days – he added.
14:04
– It awaits the Council of Ministers' decision; I think it will be adopted within the next few weeks – Adam Bodnar said in an interview with journalists, when asked about the bill on separating the functions of the Minister of Justice and the Prosecutor General.
– I think it will be in the Sejm well before the elections [the bill will be in the Sejm] – he continued.

“Mentzen’s Confederation has panicked and sued me to the ethics committee. So once again, so everyone hears clearly: Yes, the change that Mentzen offers is being made hand-in-hand with the AfD (see: alliances in the European Parliament), that is, with people who want to push us into Russia’s hands” – Szymon Hołownia wrote on X.
“Yes, he who conducts a campaign praised by the Kremlin’s propaganda, he engages in political parasitism on Poland’s security. Not one step back in telling the truth” – he continued in his post.

The Standing Committee of the Council of Ministers has adopted the draft deregulation bill, prepared by the Ministry of Development and Technology – announced Maciej Berek.
As the head of the Standing Committee of the Council of Ministers wrote, the deregulation bill "encompasses three main components of changes":
1. facilitating the first steps in business
2. simpler rules for conducting business activities
3. regulations for creating business-friendly economic law.
Detailed proposals include: easing unregistered business activities, shortening the maximum control period for micro-entrepreneurs (from 12 to 6 days), electronic processing of proceedings before the National Appeal Chamber, introducing an obligation to provide entrepreneurs with an initial list of information and documents that the controlling body expects to be made available during the inspection, before the inspection begins, or introducing additional incentives to encourage the initiation of mediation procedures in administrative matters.
Furthermore, the Standing Committee of the Council of Ministers adopted the bill supporting social forms of housing development, which aims to "strengthen support instruments for local governments and investors within the framework of the social and municipal housing construction program and the preferential loan program for investors in social rental housing".

Trzaskowski on building success in Poland:
I am convinced we can have a Polish Dream
– There is an American saying that talks about the ‘American Dream’, the dream that one can achieve success precisely in the United States. I am convinced that something like the ‘Polish Dream’ can exist – a Polish dream – said Rafał Trzaskowski in Sieradz.
– That we are truly capable of building this success here, in our country, in Poland. That we truly have nothing to be ashamed of. That there are so many areas where our companies dominate, there are so many areas where our scientists and entrepreneurs are among those who achieve the greatest success – he continued.
– They often achieve it abroad, but they also often achieve it in Poland. Of course, we are keen to give them the opportunity to achieve this success precisely in Poland, to enable them to create technologies of the future – he continued.
17:48
Trzaskowski:
Our Goal is for Every City to Have a Chance to Develop
– I am pleased that all the connections being built today serve cities like Sieradz. I am pleased that the investments made here, such as the S8 expressway, have led to Sieradz being much better connected to the entire region today, because this is exactly what we aim for – stated Rafał Trzaskowski in Sieradz.
– Our goal is for cities like Sieradz, Pabianice, and Piotrków Trybunalski to have the best possible chances for development, for every city to have a chance to develop today, and for everyone, regardless of where they were born or raised, to be able to return to their hometown and have the opportunity for their small homeland to develop as best as possible – he continued.
17:48
Trzaskowski:
In Many Spheres, We've Caught Up to Europe
– We don't even know what potential lies within us, that today in very many spheres we have caught up to Europe, that today we are safe not only because we invest in our defense capabilities, in our army, that we are securing our eastern border, but because we have such technological solutions, such companies that increase our security – said Rafał Trzaskowski in Sieradz.
18:04
Trzaskowski's Irony on the Duda-Trump Meeting:
Instead of pacing nervously, you could have just approached them.
– I was at the Digica company in Łódź today and saw something unbelievable. I saw that there is technology for X-raying cars, and then artificial intelligence kicks in and can suggest to the person looking at the images whether a gun is hidden somewhere, or whether an explosive charge is hidden somewhere. Do you know what the problem is? Today, this technology is used on the Mexican-American border, and this is what we must change, ladies and gentlemen – said Rafał Trzaskowski in Sieradz.
– Instead of pacing nervously around the room, one could have approached Trump, lightly nudged him behind the knee like Macron did, and said: Donald, Polish technology is guarding your border, you have to help us, there is no other option – he added.

New PiS spot:
Let’s look at the price of doughnuts, the increase is huge.
– Poles are living worse and worse, the latest poll clearly shows this, plunging Donald Tusk’s government into crisis – says the narrator in a new clip published by PiS on social media.
– They are dealing with everything except Poland. And the high prices are breaking new records. Today, let’s look at the price of doughnuts. The increase is huge; compared to 2023, a doughnut is 31% more expensive, and one from discount stores is as much as 42% more expensive – adds the narrator.

Trzaskowski mocks Nawrocki:
Wouldn’t it be better if the President waved dumbbells, or carried a washing machine, than knew languages?
– Our society truly has no complexes anymore. Our companies have no complexes. When you talk to these young people, speaking English or other languages is normal for them. They asked me a few times: “Why is PiS making fun of you for speaking French? We don’t understand that, it’s normal, isn’t it good that the President speaks foreign languages?” And I test them. I say: “Wouldn’t it be better if he waved dumbbells, or carried a washing machine?” – stated Rafał Trzaskowski in Sieradz.
18:24
– Our children, our grandchildren are everywhere, all over Europe. They have no complexes. Some are very successful, and now it should be in all our interests to organize a grand return for them, so they can come back to Poland and spread their wings here – said Rafał Trzaskowski in Sieradz.
– All these experiences they have gained in Poland, abroad, so that they can come back here and invest. Those who have achieved great success, so they can reinvest money, to create exactly such conditions for them. They don’t necessarily have to return to Warsaw […], but they can return to Sieradz, to smaller towns. Because conditions for development can be created for them throughout Poland – he continued.
– All these people could return here, but conditions need to be created for them. We need a president who thinks in different categories, who is able to be a guardian of technology – he argued.
– The president cannot do everything himself, but he can check what ministries are doing, create a single plan. To be a great promoter of Polish technology. To talk to these people, to consider how to change education, to fund scholarships. To have a plan so that doctoral students stay at Polish universities, so that professors stay and can teach, and can have, for example, a second job – he continued.
18:43
Trzaskowski:
If Anyone Interferes in Our Elections, We Should Turn Our Backs to Them
– Today, above political divisions, we should say: there is no consent for Russian propaganda. There is no consent for this, regardless of whether you are from PiS, or from Konfederacja, or from Platforma, or from Lewica – there is no consent for Russians to interfere in our elections. There is no consent for anyone to interfere in our elections – said Rafał Trzaskowski in Sieradz.
– We are a proud society. We should all have such a signal: if anyone interferes in our elections, we should turn our backs to them. And if someone lies and misinforms – we should cut off the head of such an electronic hydra – he pointed out.
18:49
Trzaskowski points to a domain:
This is one of the few areas where PiS did a good job.
– This is one of the few issues, precisely when it comes to military cybersecurity, where PiS did a good job. And that needs to be said. It would be good if we didn't differ on at least this matter – said Rafał Trzaskowski in Sieradz.
18:50
Trzaskowski:
Freedom of Speech is Sacred – But Not for Bots and Russian Propaganda
– Freedom of speech is the most important thing, and this is not about any censorship. Freedom of speech is sacred. But not for bots, not for Russian propaganda. We must fight against that – said Rafał Trzaskowski in Sieradz.
– Freedom of speech, even if it is sometimes, let's say, on the edge, is one thing, and misleading us, disinformation, an attempt to incite sentiment through Russian technology and bots, troll farms that they have, is something completely different – he continued.
19:40
– It happens in such organized groups – said Prime Minister Donald Tusk in TVN24's 'Fakty po Faktach' (Facts After Facts), when asked by Grzegorz Kajdanowicz whether Mateusz Morawiecki had been 'thrown under the bus' regarding the postal elections by his PiS colleagues or the party's chairman.
19:43
Tusk Defends Pace of PiS Accountability:
This is Not About Retaliation or Revenge.
– The issue of holding accountable all those who acted against the law, in violation of the law, in various matters […], I have tried to refrain from commenting. It was our commitment that we would hold them accountable, but at the same time I said: under no circumstances will this be an attempt at retaliation or revenge – said Donald Tusk on TVN24's “Fakty po Faktach”.
– I have heard hundreds of times in recent months: “why so slow?”, “why is no one in jail?” […]. And I will always repeat: we did not go into elections for the purpose of using politics and power against our predecessors. That is what prosecutors and courts are for – he indicated.
– Some may find something too slow, some too fast, sometimes too lenient, sometimes too brutal, but for me the most important thing is that we have restored the proper proportions: the justice system, not political competition, is responsible for holding politicians accountable – he continued.
19:50
Tusk on US Priorities:
Poland is in a better situation than a significant portion of our partners, but let's not delude ourselves.
– I also appeal to everyone in Poland, politicians, commentators, not to fall into hysteria on one hand, thinking “God, this is the end of the world”; it’s not the end of the world, but also not to build ourselves some illusion that we are favorites in this new configuration – said Prime Minister Donald Tusk on TVN24.
– The Union certainly not, the Union is today in a more difficult situation regarding relations with the United States. Poland is in a better situation than a significant portion of our partners, but let’s not delude ourselves, meaning, I know this, it’s not my guesswork […] for the new [US] administration, Europe is not the center of the world, Ukraine is not the main problem – he continued.
19:57
Tusk:
The EU as a Whole Has Adopted the Polish Agenda, and There's No Exaggeration in That
– For me, it is very important that the European Union as a whole has adopted the Polish agenda, and there is truly no exaggeration in that. Two years ago, three years ago, people would have laughed, a year ago they wouldn't have believed it, but we said: armaments and security, this is our priority – said Prime Minister Donald Tusk on TVN24.
The EU Will Adopt Very Concrete Projects on March 6
– The European Union will adopt very concrete projects on March 6, worth billions, for its own armaments, for the defense of Poland's border with Russia, for aid to Ukraine – the head of government continued.
– We spoke about an energy union […] they are convinced of this, we are to abandon the Green Deal in these [controversial] parts, I said: we will stop the issue of asylum […] today, the Polish model is respected in Europe and treated as a good way of proceeding – he went on to say.
20:01
Tusk:
Some Countries Are Thinking About Improving Relations with Russia. I Consider This One of the Biggest Risks
– This is almost 300 billion [euros of frozen Russian assets]. There is almost universal agreement. Will this happen [will they be transferred to Ukraine]? Today I would say: no more than a 50% chance. Because some countries in the EU, and I'm also not sure of the American stance on this issue, fear certain negative consequences – said Donald Tusk in "Fakty po Faktach" on TVN24.
– A lot of people, I mean politicians, in some European countries, and very clearly in Washington, are rather thinking about improving their relations with Russia as quickly as possible. I consider this one of the biggest risks – he indicated.
20:04
Tusk on Trzaskowski:
He must win over those who don't like me.
– The Civic Coalition, under my leadership, received over 30% of the votes. A great result, we managed to change what I believe is the bad government in Poland, but that's not enough to win the presidential election. Rafał Trzaskowski is, and must be, the leader of a broader camp – said Prime Minister Donald Tusk on TVN24.
– He must win over those who don't like Tusk, it's simple, there's no point in sugarcoating reality. And that's why my presence [in Trzaskowski's election campaign] will depend solely on Rafał Trzaskowski's will and desire, but I am always at his disposal – he continued.
20:10
Tusk:
Deportations, including to Georgia, will become a reality in the first week of March
"These first deportations, including to Georgia, because we were talking about those Georgian gangs, as they are very active, will become a reality in the first week of March," said Prime Minister Donald Tusk on TVN24.
20:17
Tusk on Mentzen and Confederation:
There’s No Recipe for a Better Future There, Only for Strife and Danger for Poland.
– I am concerned by what we’ve seen everywhere in Europe, in every country, in the United States… what’s happening worldwide, this clear political trend towards, at times, xenophobia, authoritarianism, dislike of others, and an increase in political aggression. I don’t need to describe this new world; we are immersed in this new reality and sometimes look at its manifestations with concern – said Donald Tusk on TVN24’s “Fakty po Faktach.”
– Confederation and Mentzen are also an illustration of this, just like the AfD in Germany. There’s no recipe for a better future there; there’s a recipe for very serious strife and danger for Poland. There is a very Russian agenda there – he assessed.
– I don’t feel like investigating Mr. Mentzen’s or Mr. Braun’s past or deep-seated views. I look at their political views. At what they propose regarding, for example, relations with Ukraine and Russia. I have no doubt that they have joined the international camp of politicians worldwide… for whom Russia is a more valuable partner than Ukraine – he pointed out.
20:21
Tusk:
I'm in politics precisely to prevent forces like Konfederacja from winning
– Of course, the increase in their popularity worries me. Do I think they are a threat in the sense that they might win? No, no, that's also why I'm in politics, so that people like [Sławomir Mentzen] and forces like Konfederacja do not win – said Donald Tusk on TVN24's “Fakty po Faktach” (Facts after Facts).
20:26
Morawiecki:
Would They Want Me to Be a Dictator, to Not Hold Elections?
– The accusation is that I wanted the presidential elections to take place. What else are elections but the heart and soul of democracy? After all, there is no democracy without elections. So, what would they want me to do, not hold elections, be a dictator, so that the elections wouldn't happen? That's some kind of absurdity – stated Mateusz Morawiecki on TV Republika.
20:28
Morawiecki on the decision regarding presidential elections:
If I had to do it again, I would do it.
– It was my duty, I was implementing the decision of the Marshal of the Sejm, the Constitution. If I had to do it again, I would do exactly the same thing, because democracy is one of the highest values that guide me – stated Mateusz Morawiecki on TV Republika.
20:31
Morawiecki on the 2020 Elections:
Platforma Was Heading Towards Collapse, They Were Doing Everything to Replace the Candidate.
– I think it's because everything that was happening then [in 2020] was subordinated not to the interests of the state, but to the party. The party was already heading towards collapse, Civic Platform (PO), because if its candidate had suffered such a spectacular gaffe, a flop as the youth say, meaning 5-6%, then probably there would be nothing left, so they were doing everything they could to be able to replace that candidate – stated Mateusz Morawiecki on TV Republika.
20:48
Morawiecki on the 8 Stars:
TVN Did This Also to Detonate the Issue Earlier.
– They are probably afraid of a change of ownership [at TVN]. That’s what I think. I had no knowledge of this matter and I must honestly say that, no, I did not expect it – stated Mateusz Morawiecki on TV Republika.
– Honestly, I see Putin's and the Kremlin's fingerprints in many places, Russian inspiration, but I didn't assume that Donald Tusk, hand in hand with Putin's agents, indirectly in this way, by not cutting short the entire 8 Stars action, and even benefiting from it in the sense that it was that negative emotion, would be writing those 8 Stars on their foreheads, and that the PO [Civic Platform] MPs, that when all is said and done, who the main sponsor and inspiration was, it turns out it was Vladimir Putin – he continued.
– This is something incredible. I think TVN did this also to capsize this topic earlier, as they say, to detonate it earlier – he added.
20:57
Trzaskowski:
I'm Not a Government Member, But I Demand Quicker Fulfillment of Promises from Colleagues
– I am not a member of the government, but I also demand from my colleagues that these promises be fulfilled faster. That is why we have, for example, the entire program to increase the competitiveness of our economy and, for instance, announcements regarding deregulation. I spoke about this much, much earlier, hence the discussion about even faster implementation of all these postulates that have been raised in recent months or years – stated Rafał Trzaskowski in the program "Pytanie Dnia" on TVP Info.
20:57
Trzaskowski on Abortion Law Liberalization:
I Won’t Back Down, I Will Exert Even More Pressure.
– I am also saying that I will not back down on the issue of liberalizing the abortion law, because I will exert even greater pressure on the ruling coalition to fulfill its promises – said Rafał Trzaskowski on TVP Info.
21:00
Trzaskowski:
If Duda's Veto Alibi Disappears, It Will Be Easier to Pressure for Laws Important to Us
– Many of my colleagues from other parties that form the governing coalition say, why should I expose myself, change my mind, when President Duda will veto it anyway. If this alibi is gone, I am convinced that it will be easier to exert pressure on my colleagues so that some of these laws, important to us, pass through the Sejm with a majority – stated Rafał Trzaskowski on TVP Info.
21:03
Trzaskowski on Mentzen's Voters:
Many of Them Say They Will Vote for Me in the Second Round.
– I meet a lot of people who say they want to vote for Konfederacja for various reasons. Honestly, it often surprises me. I enter into a discussion, and then many of them say that they will vote for me in the second round. Therefore, it is not at all the case that everyone who votes for the leader of Konfederacja, if he does not advance to the second round, will later vote for the PiS candidate. It's not that obvious – said Rafał Trzaskowski on TVP Info.
21:05
Trzaskowski Praises Duda for His Stance on Defense:
Unlike the President, PiS is Trying to Break Away from This.
– Security is our utmost priority right now. I believe that Poland needs unity. In this one matter, despite all these divisions, we should speak with one voice, and there has been a certain continuity from President Wałęsa, through President Kwaśniewski, President Kaczyński, President Komorowski, and President Duda, when it comes to the most important issues – stated Rafał Trzaskowski on TVP Info.
– Today, unfortunately, PiS is trying to break away from this consensus, unlike the President, whom we must praise for ensuring that we speak with one voice on security matters – he added.
It was a great honor for me.
