The ongoing presidential campaign, Prime Minister Tusk's visit to Brussels for an informal meeting of EU leaders, the first Sejm session of February, and the presentation of a draft bill on the status of judges – these are just some of the political events to look forward to in the coming week. Poland will be visited by the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, while President Duda will travel to Lithuania and Marshal Hołownia to Estonia.

Tusk in Brussels. On Monday, Prime Minister Donald Tusk will participate in an informal meeting of European Union leaders. The political leaders will discuss, among other things, the possibilities and priorities for deepening defense cooperation within the EU and defense financing. The aim is to increase Europe's responsibility for its own security. The deepening of the partnership with NATO and key allies from outside the EU will also be on the agenda. Therefore, the NATO Secretary General and the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom will be present at the meeting.

Nawrocki in Silesia. On Monday, PiS-backed presidential candidate Karol Nawrocki will visit the Silesian Voivodeship. The plan includes, among other things, laying flowers before the monument to the Jastrzębie agreements and before the Cross of Remembrance dedicated to deceased miners, a meeting with mining and energy trade unions, as well as meetings with residents.

Hołownia in Estonia. On Monday, Sejm Marshal Szymon Hołownia will participate in a meeting of the Speakers of the Parliaments of Estonia, Finland, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, and Ukraine in Tartu. A debate with students of the University of Tartu titled "How to achieve a just and lasting peace in Ukraine and Europe?" with the participation of the Speakers of Parliament is also planned.

Bodnar on Judges' Status. "Everything indicates that we will present them next week," announced the Minister of Justice on Radio Zet. According to Adam Bodnar, the codification commission for the judicial and prosecutorial system, operating within the Ministry of Justice, has presented two draft laws concerning the status of judges. The conference is scheduled for Monday.

Święczkowski Before the Investigative Committee. On Monday, the Pegasus Investigative Committee is scheduled to question the former National Prosecutor Bogdan Święczkowski, and subsequently the former head of the Military Intelligence Service, Andrzej Kowalski. On Tuesday, the same committee will consider evidence motions in a closed session.

Government on the CAP Strategic Plan. At its Tuesday session, the Council of Ministers will consider the draft amendment to the act on the Strategic Plan for the Common Agricultural Policy for the years 2023-2027, as well as the draft amendment to the act on the capacity market.

MPC Session. The February session of the Monetary Policy Council (RPP) will begin on Tuesday, during which a decision to keep interest rates at an unchanged level will likely be made. The session will conclude with a press conference by the NBP President Adam Glapiński.

Sejm on the Volhynian Lie. A two-day Sejm session will commence on Wednesday. While there are no highly political draft bills on the agenda for now, MPs will address a proposal submitted by PiS regarding the clarification of the detailed method for determining genocide and the list of crimes committed during the so-called Volhynian Massacre, as well as the penalization of the so-called Volhynian lie.

von der Leyen in Poland. On Thursday and Friday, Ursula von der Leyen will visit Gdańsk – as announced by the Minister for EU Affairs, Adam Szłapka. The head of the European Commission will arrive with the college of commissioners. An earlier away session of the European Commission, planned for early January, was cancelled due to von der Leyen's illness.

Duda in Lithuania. On Sunday, President Andrzej Duda will pay a working visit to Lithuania. The exact schedule has not yet been published.
