Thursday's Political Agenda: Tusk at the EU Summit, Sejm on Hate Speech, Nawrocki in Podkarpacie, Duda and Kosiniak-Kamysz at a Military Christmas Eve Meeting
Tusk in Brussels Today marks the second day of Prime Minister Donald Tusk's visit to Brussels, where the head of government is participating in the European Council summit. At 10:30 AM, he will attend a meeting of EU heads of government and state with European Parliament President Roberta Metsola. A meeting of EU leaders with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is scheduled for 11:00 AM. From 12:00 PM, Tusk will participate in the working sessions of the European Council. The Prime Minister's final engagement is a family photo marking the 50th anniversary of the European Council (at 3:30 PM). The Central Information Office of the Government (CIR) will provide updates on any potential press meetings throughout the day. Sejm to Address, Among Other Things, Amendments to the Penal Code Regarding Hate Speech The Sejm will resume its proceedings at 9:00 AM with a series of current affairs questions. At 11:15 AM, at the request of the Polish People's Party (PSL), it will hear a briefing on the priorities of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union concerning agriculture. A break in the proceedings is scheduled from 11:45 AM to 1:30 PM. During this break, at 12:00 PM, the annual Christmas Eve meeting of parliamentarians will take place with the participation of Marshal Szymon Hołownia. After resuming, the Sejm will continue with the current affairs briefing. At 2:45 PM, the first reading of the government's draft amendment to the Penal Code concerning hate speech is scheduled. This amendment aims to expand the catalogue of offenses motivated by discrimination based on age, disability, gender, and sexual orientation. These will be punishable on similar grounds as existing offenses in the law (based on nationality, ethnicity, race, religion, or lack thereof). At 4:15 PM, MPs will consider a draft amendment to the Code of Criminal Procedure introduced by Poland 2050. Its stated goal is, according to the proponents, "to reform the institution of pre-trial detention in Poland" and "to adapt it to European standards of human rights protection." Meanwhile, at 5:45 PM, the Sejm will proceed to the first reading of a Confederation proposal regarding the introduction of a tax-free allowance of up to PLN 100,000 from the Belka tax. At 7:00 PM, the first reading of the government's draft amendment to the Value Added Tax Act, the Excise Duty Act, and certain other acts is scheduled. The Senate will resume its proceedings at 10:00 AM. Earlier, at 8:15 AM, the Budget and Public Finance Committee will consider proposals submitted to the 2025 budget bill. Duda and Kosiniak-Kamysz at a Christmas Eve Meeting with Soldiers At 10:30 AM, Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz will participate in the signing of an agreement for the supply of MSBS GROT rifles, under-barrel grenade launchers, and VIS 100 pistols for the soldiers of the Polish Army. Later, together with President Andrzej Duda and the First Lady, he will attend a military Christmas Eve meeting at 11:30 AM at the 1st Transport Aviation Base in Warsaw. Speeches by the President and Deputy Prime Minister are planned. Nawrocki in the Podkarpacie Voivodeship Karol Nawrocki, a presidential candidate supported by the Law and Justice party (PiS), is heading to the Podkarpacie Voivodeship. At 8:00 AM, he will visit a "family business" in Racławice (Nisko commune). He will then proceed to the Rzeszów-Dworzysko economic zone, where he will hold several meetings from 9:45 AM. A meeting with residents of Jasienica is scheduled for 12:00 PM. At 2:30 PM, Nawrocki is expected to meet with young people at a school in Jarosław. The final event is a meeting with residents of Leżajsk at 6:00 PM. *** Two ministries will present their priorities today in relation to the Polish Presidency of the Council of the EU. A conference by the Minister of Agriculture, Czesław Siekierski, will take place at 10:00 AM, and a conference by the Minister of Finance, Andrzej Domański, at 11:30 AM. At 12:15 PM, a press conference is scheduled to begin at PGE Narodowy with the participation of the Minister of Sport and Tourism, Sławomir Nitras, and Deputy Minister Ireneusz Raś. Meanwhile, at 12:00 PM in the Sejm, a press conference with Przemysław Czarnek, Ireneusz Zyska, and Grzegorz Czelej has been scheduled.

Błaszczak:

We want Karol Nawrocki's election result to be like Trump's in America
- We want Dr. Karol Nawrocki's election result to be like Donald Trump's in America, so that those in power cannot question this result - said Mariusz Błaszczak in "Rozmowa o 7:00" on RMF24.

07:41

Błaszczak on Some Members of the National Election Commission:

They Are Using Putin's Methods.
- We introduced [to the National Election Commission] a judicial-parliamentary system, the kind that functions in civilized Western European countries [...] we wanted high standards in our country, but they were low, unfortunately, the judicial system wasn't working, I recall the 2014 elections, when there were so many invalid votes - said Mariusz Błaszczak on RMF24. - The problem today is that these gentlemen [...] they are appointed [...] by the December 13th coalition, generally speaking, they are using Putin's methods, they are using Moscow's standards - he continued. - We assumed that they would be responsible people, that they would be people who would care about the good of the Republic, but it turns out they care about their own parties, about maintaining power. [...] The problem is not the system, but the people appointed by the December 13th coalition - he elaborated.

07:46

"It Won't Change Anything": Błaszczak on Hołownia's Proposal Regarding Election Validity
- We believe that the existing law must be respected. Those who govern Poland do not respect this law; in fact, they break it. What Szymon Hołownia is proposing won't change anything - said Mariusz Błaszczak in an interview with RMF24 when asked about the solution proposed by Szymon Hołownia, suggesting that the entire composition of the Supreme Court should decide on the validity of elections.

07:51

Constitutional Reset Proposed by Confederation? Błaszczak: It's an Empty Slogan
- One must respect the law, constitutional reset, what does a constitutional reset mean, a slogan that Confederation throws around, it's empty, one must act in accordance with the constitution, in accordance with the current law, and this empty slogan thrown around changes nothing - said Mariusz Błaszczak on RMF24.

07:57

RARS and Butter Market Intervention: Błaszczak Says a Thousand Tons Holds Little Significance, and a Slogan-Driven Action Will Hit Farmers
- Do you know how much butter is consumed annually in our country? 250 thousand, a quarter of a million tons. One thousand tons doesn't make a significant difference, and if the situation is approached in this way, meaning acting on slogans, what will be the consequence? That the prices for milk purchase will drop, thus hitting farmers, breeders - said Mariusz Błaszczak on RMF24.

08:02

Błaszczak on the Romanowski case:

I am disgusted by the attitude of the ruling party, because they have already passed a verdict.
- I am disgusted, to put it mildly, by the attitude of the ruling party, because they have already passed a verdict on Marcin Romanowski - said Mariusz Błaszczak in an interview with RMF24. - I wonder how the judge who issued the decision to re-arrest Marcin Romanowski would have acted, whether she would have had enough courage not to issue such a decision, to resist - he continued. - I perceive it this way, that the ruling party has dug in its heels, they want to put an opposition MP in custody at all costs - he added.

08:08

Kalisz Defends Dworczyk. Błaszczak: It's a Bad Choice
- I don't think so, I believe it's a bad choice when I listen to this gentleman... please ask MP Michał Dworczyk what guided him to make such a choice - Mariusz Błaszczak said on RMF24, when asked if it was a good choice for Michał Dworczyk to select Ryszard Kalisz as his lawyer. - In my opinion, it is not a good choice. Especially since former minister Kalisz, by commenting on what might happen, namely the theft of election results from Poles, is giving himself a very negative testimonial - he continued.

08:19

Hołownia on Severin Romanowski's MP allowance payments:

Currently on sick leave.
- Until December 23rd, [Marcin Romanowski] is on sick leave; this leave is valid. [...] He is excused as an MP. However, he is not excused as a citizen, as a person. One cannot do such things. Especially when one has been a Deputy Minister of Justice - said Szymon Hołownia in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24. - If there is no new sick leave, then I understand that his absence will be unjustified. There are consequences for that - he pointed out. As he explained: - We have an arrangement with the police, who will immediately inform the Marshal's Guard commander that he has been detained. He will then inform me. At that point, we will stop paying his MP allowance and take over the management of his constituency office, through the Sejm Chancellery.

08:31

Hołownia on Settling Scores with PiS:

With All Due Respect to Bodnar's Work, I'm Asking the Prosecutor's Office About the Pace.
- I would like to see many requests for immunity, many prosecutorial proceedings, because over these 8 years we have pointed out many things, and they must be concluded. And once there are requests for immunity, I would like to see indictments - said Szymon Hołownia in "Rozmowa Piaseckiego" on TVN24. - If Minister Bodnar comes and indeed says, shows what has been done, then I still - with all my greatest respect for the work that Minister Bodnar is doing - ask the prosecutor's office about the pace. Because even if there are proceedings, charges have been filed, there are no indictments - he continued. - In my assessment, this process is moving slower than it should. And this is not about theatrical revenge, because people don't want theater or revenge. People want a sense of justice - he added.

08:35

Hołownia on PiS: Today their place is in purgatory, not in power
- When it comes to power in Poland, they must go through an ethical purgatory. Today their [PiS] place is in purgatory, not in power, because they must account for what they have done - said Szymon Hołownia in the "Piasecki's Conversation" on TVN24.

08:40

Hołownia Announces Bill Presentation on Elections:

Three Randomly Drawn Judges from Different Chambers.
- In this bill, which I will likely present to MPs tomorrow who might wish to support it, there will be a provision stating that three randomly drawn judges from different chambers of the Supreme Court will consider appeals against decisions of the National Electoral Commission (PKW) - said Szymon Hołownia on TVN24's “Rozmowa Piaseckiego” (Piasecki’s Conversation). At the same time, the previous element of the bill announced by the Marshal remains unchanged – the validity of the presidential election would be determined by the entire composition of the Supreme Court. - This is precisely the remedial nature of this bill – everyone must take half a step back for the good of the state - he indicated. As he stated: - This is an incidental bill that concerns these presidential elections, so that we can secure them in such a way that we do not have a repeat of presidential election scenarios, which may be similar, […] in terms of temperature, emotions, and consequences, to those in Georgia and Romania.

08:48

Hołownia on the Contested Chamber of the Supreme Court:

I Will Turn to the President.
– I will turn to the president and say: we cannot recognize – this is a contentious point – the Chamber of Extraordinary Control and Public Affairs, because it does not exist in this law as part of the Supreme Court, as it is a contested chamber. However, we are also not dealing with [in the law I proposed] the status of judges, whether they are neo-judges or paleo-judges – said Szymon Hołownia in “Rozmowa Piaseckiego” on TVN24.

09:05

Kosiniak-Kamysz on Ukraine:

Everyone is Waiting for Trump’s Proposals.

- Everyone is truly waiting for President Trump’s proposals. Because they are undoubtedly crucial; there is no NATO without the USA, and there is no US superpower role without its participation in NATO, so January 20th will certainly be an important moment. There are many plans being announced in the media, but I wouldn't even want to comment on them, because engaging in these comments means we lose sight of the essence. The essence is that this should not happen without Ukraine – stated Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz on PR3.

09:05

Hołownia:

I'll Gladly Show Święczkowski Our Constitutional Tribunal Bill
- I will very gladly show him [Bogdan Święczkowski] our bill on the Constitutional Tribunal. I will ask him to formulate his opinions on the matter, and above all, to tell me whether it is possible to achieve a situation where active politicians are no longer constitutional judges in Poland - said Szymon Hołownia in the "Rozmowa Piaseckiego" program on TVN24.

09:24

Kosiniak-Kamysz on Wieczorek:

It's the Prime Minister's and the Left's decision.

- It's the Prime Minister's decision, he spoke with Marshal Czarzasty, it's also the decision of the Left, who recommended him. I am in favor of building a coalition, and if there are personnel matters concerning a minister recommended by a given environment, the role always belongs to the Prime Minister, who is the head of government, and that political environment. So, colleagues from the Left will certainly address this - stated Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz on PR3.

09:28

Kosiniak-Kamysz on the Wieczorek Affair:

I Expect Explanations.

Let Minister Wieczorek and the entire Left, because they recommended him, speak on this matter and clarify it. I expect explanations, and that is something I can expect. While building good relations, which are necessary for the coalition to function, I think this division of responsibility – the prime minister who oversees and appoints, appoints ministers, but also the environment that nominates a particular minister – is very clear and practical so we can implement it – stated Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz on PR3.

10:01

Nawrocki on Demands for the Government:

Consider Not Only the Eco-Terrorism Flowing from Brussels.

- We would all demand, and I as a civic candidate for the President of the Republic of Poland, demand of every Polish government that when introducing specific regulations, particularly those from the EU, they consider not only geopolitical trends, not only the eco-terrorism flowing from Brussels as part of the Green Deal, but also the emotions of the companies that have been trying to maintain and build their prosperity in the steel market for many years – stated Karol Nawrocki at a press briefing.

- During our conversation, I heard that the ETS, the emissions tax, is simply an EU tax that impacts the production of steel products from companies like the one in Nisko. Although the gentlemen are coping well with it, they did not hide that, on the one hand, the prices of electricity, and on the other hand, the Green Deal and ETS regulations affect the company's operational structure and its ability to forecast for the next year – he continued.

10:38

Bodnar:

The Justice Fund Scandal Must Be Consistently Investigated

- The investigation into the Justice Fund scandal must be conducted consistently and must cover all those individuals who were involved in various manipulations, in the misuse of funds from this fund, and in the transfer of these funds to individuals who simply participated in this fraudulent scheme - stated Adam Bodnar at a press conference.

11:28

"A Great Danger of Poland Being Deprived of its Seat": Nitras on the "Game of Duda and Piesiewicz"

- The consequence of the Polish Olympic Committee's (PKOl) actions may be, and strongly indicates, that Poland will continue to have no real member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). It must be said plainly, today Poland has no real IOC member, and this seat rightfully belongs to Poland. This game, which President Duda and Chairman Piesiewicz are playing, creates a great danger that Poland will be deprived of this seat - stated Sławomir Nitras in the Sejm.

11:29

Nitras Appeals to PiS Politicians:

Hands Off Polish Sport.

- I have such a fervent appeal to PiS politicians. Hands off Polish sport. Politicians, hands off Polish sport. Polish athletes should represent Poles in the IOC, not PiS politicians should represent them - stated Sławomir Nitras in the Sejm.

12:12

Kosiniak-Kamysz:

State Security United Us This Year. I Thank the President for Cooperation
- The issue that undoubtedly and unequivocally united us this year is the security of the Polish state. And this is the foundation, this is the raison d'état, this is something we simply believe in and implement. And there is no political emotion [...] that would destroy this in any way. And it won't - said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz at a uniformed Christmas Eve meeting. - I am glad that this is not one-sided, but is truly from all sides. I thank the President for our ability to cooperate in this regard. That what guarantees the Polish state, namely the security and prosperity of its citizens, is our highest imperative - he continued.

12:15

Kosiniak-Kamysz:

Those Who Claimed Government Change Would Lead to Unit Dismantlement and Reduced Defense Spending Were Misleading
- All those who said that with the change of government there would be a winding down of units, a reduction in defense spending, and a shrinking of the army, were misleading. The opposite has happened: spending is the highest, the growth is enormous, and what is our great success, a shared one, as we all stand here, is the reduction in army departures, a radical reduction compared to previous years - said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz at a uniformed Christmas Eve meeting.

12:23

Kosiniak-Kamysz to Duda:

Thank You Very Much for Signing the Civil Defence Act.
- Mr. President, thank you very much for signing and accepting the Civil Defence and Population Protection Act. This is the most important act adopted in this area for many years; it is a code of action for the safety of every citizen - said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz at a uniformed Christmas Eve meeting.

12:24

Kosiniak-Kamysz Announces, Among Other Things, Shelter Construction:

At Least PLN 6 Billion Secured for Next Year.
- We have secured at least 6 billion zlotys for next year for joint actions of the Ministry of Interior and Administration and the Ministry of National Defence. We are preparing a program, shelters and safe havens will be built, and a manual on how to behave in times of crisis and threat will be delivered to every Polish home. We are drawing on the best Scandinavian models in this regard - said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz at a uniformed Christmas Eve meeting.

12:41

Duda to Soldiers:

Thank You for Your Service to the Homeland, Always, but Especially During These Long 10 Years.
- I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your service to the homeland, always, but especially during these long 10 years. I thank you for the extremely solid performance of your duties, and I thank you immensely for your care for the Republic. I always emphasize this, I thank both the soldiers, ladies and gentlemen, as well as your loved ones - said President Andrzej Duda at a uniformed Christmas Eve meeting.

12:45

Duda:

There are now more than twice as many Polish soldiers as when I began my presidential service. I am very proud of this.
- When I began my presidential service, there were about 100,000 Polish soldiers. Today there are more than twice that number, and I must say that I am very proud of this, although, of course, it is not without concern due to the deteriorating security conditions and the difficult times in which we have come to serve the Republic [...], which have indeed necessitated increasing the size of the Polish army – said President Andrzej Duda at a uniformed Christmas Eve meeting.

12:54

An Attempt to Intimidate the Head of an Independent and Apolitical Institution. IPN on the Motion Regarding Nawrocki's Immunity
We regret to learn of the motion submitted to the Marshal of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland to lift the immunity of Dr. Karol Nawrocki, President of the Institute of National Remembrance – Commission for the Prosecution of Crimes against the Polish Nation, in a matter concerning a public statement related to the process of restoring pension privileges to former officials of the totalitarian security apparatus of the Polish People's Republic – it was stated in the IPN's official statement regarding the motion to lift Karol Nawrocki's immunity. We perceive this motion as an attempt to intimidate the President of an independent and apolitical state institution – the Institute of National Remembrance, whose statutory duties include prosecuting crimes committed by officials of the communist security apparatus. It is also our duty to advocate for redress for the Victims of communist repressions. Restoring pension privileges to former officials of the communist security apparatus contradicts the fundamental principles of justice and accountability. It is an affront to the Victims of communist repressions and their loved ones.

12:55

Duda:

I Wish Soldiers and the Minister of National Defence for the Modernization of the Polish Army to Be Completed
- One [worsening security conditions and difficult times] also necessitated further reforms in the Polish army, but above all, an extraordinary, I would even say incredible, acceleration of the modernization process. This modernization is indeed progressing [...] it was a great honor and joy for me to witness you taking over new equipment, the most modern weaponry in the world today - said President Andrzej Duda at a uniformed Christmas Eve meeting. - Starting with that which came to Poland as part of the Vistula program, through all subsequent programs, alongside the air defense program, both anti-aircraft and anti-missile, through the modernization of Polish mechanized troops, armored troops, through the modernization of our artillery, through the modernization that is currently taking place in virtually all areas and which, I wish for all of us, especially you, as well as the Minister of National Defence and his colleagues, that it be completed - he continued. - Of course, this process never ends, because replenishing weaponry, modernizing it, and acquiring new elements of it is an endless process [...] but this modernization process, truly a transition from weaponry that we call post-Soviet [...] is currently being replaced by actually the most modern weaponry, to NATO standards - he further stated.

12:58

Duda:

I hope my successor will worthily perform the duties of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces
- We still have many tasks ahead of us in these remaining months for me, but later for my successor, who, I hope, will worthily perform the duties of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and the President of the Republic of Poland, taking care of the matters of the Polish army and Polish soldiers - said President Andrzej Duda at a Christmas Eve meeting with uniformed services.

13:22

"Matters Concerning the Coalition's Functioning Are Paramount'. Wieczorek Announces Decision on His Government Presence
- There are moments in life when important decisions must be made. You have known me for years and you know that for me, matters concerning my political party, matters concerning functioning in parliament, in this case matters concerning the coalition's functioning, and also matters concerning my family are the most important things I pay attention to - Dariusz Wieczorek said in a press statement. "I Will Defend My Good Name". Wieczorek on the "Wave of Hate" He Faced - The last few weeks have been very difficult due to various reports and the wave of hate that has emerged towards the ministry and towards myself. And I want to state clearly to you that I will defend my good name, I will clarify all these matters, however, I would not want these reports and what has happened to have any impact on the development of Polish science, to have any impact on the functioning of the coalition - he continued. "I Have Decided to Resign" - I have decided to resign from the position of Minister of Science and Higher Education. I want to sincerely thank the entire academic community [...] I think we have achieved a lot, and looking at it through the lens of the past year, I think we made, I made some mistakes, because perhaps we didn't talk about all of this enough. For that, I undoubtedly wanted to apologize - he went on to say.

13:44

at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education:

I Always Tried to Act Honestly in All My Actions." Wieczorek on "Housekeeping
- There might be an impression that we can only speak ill of Polish science, or not at all, but that wasn't the case. I would like to recall 2024, with 22% more funding for science compared to 2023. I would like to recall a 30% pay rise for academic teachers, a 20% pay rise for academic staff. I would like to mention the increase in funding for the Polish Academy of Sciences, totaling 290 million - Dariusz Wieczorek said in a press statement. - 2.8 billion PLN for research infrastructure, 1.5 billion PLN transferred thanks to the Prime Minister's decision to higher education institutions, which were also poorly treated by our predecessors. [...] This year marks the restoration of dialogue with the academic community, and with the student community. It is the implementation of a key program for Lewica, namely the renovation and construction of student dormitories; this year alone, we have allocated 600 million PLN for this purpose - he continued. - This year also involves tidying up what was wrong regarding the functioning of the science ministry. This undoubtedly could have evoked certain emotions, this undoubtedly could have led to differences of opinion, but I always tried to consistently and honestly conduct all actions in this regard. [...] We have the Łukasiewicz Institute of Aviation, where currently only matters concerning the recovery of 40 million PLN are being dealt with [...] NCBR (National Centre for Research and Development), 7 people detained, 20 people who have been charged - he went on to say.

13:49

Wieczorek Addresses MPs Who Signed the No-Confidence Motion:

I Will Expose All the Pathological Things from the PiS Government.
- To all those MPs, those PiS MPs, who signed the motion of no-confidence, I want to inform you, perhaps it won't be in the Sejm and this motion won't be debated in the Sejm in this situation, but I will review this motion, point by point I will expose all those pathological things that occurred during the rule of Law and Justice, because this is probably the moment when all of this needs to be shown - said Dariusz Wieczorek in a press statement.

13:54

Czarzasty on the Ministry of Science and Higher Education's actions:

Two fundamental mistakes were made.
- I think two fundamental mistakes were made regarding this ministry. One communication error, which was that they couldn't inform everyone how many good decisions were made, and the second fundamental, communication error was that the mistakes that were made were not explained reasonably and rationally and in a timely manner - said Włodzimierz Czarzasty in a press statement. - These mistakes could have been explained more wisely, faster, more rationally, and for some, perhaps an "apology" could have been said - he continued.

14:25

Hołownia on the Wieczorek Case:

We Have the Matter Settled and Closed.

- Yes [this is the scenario I was expecting]. I understand that further prolonging this matter would lead to very sharp tensions also among the coalition partners, and it is good that both leaders, Włodzimierz Czarzasty and Prime Minister Tusk, and Minister Wieczorek demonstrated such maturity to cut it short and resolve the issue. The resignation is a fact, we have the matter settled and closed – stated Szymon Hołownia in a conversation with journalists.

14:28

Hołownia Announces Talks with Parliamentary Clubs on Election Bill

- Tomorrow I will discuss this with the leaders of the parliamentary clubs, to whom I will propose the final shape of this bill. It clearly indicates that there are two categories of matters that this bill is intended to resolve. One of them is the validation of the election of the President of the Republic of Poland in accordance with the Constitution, and here the proposal will be for the entire Senate to do this, of course, without the Chamber of Extraordinary Control and Public Affairs, because this chamber raises doubts - stated Szymon Hołownia in a conversation with journalists.

15:17

European Arrest Warrant for Romanowski. Court Decision Made

- The District Court in Warsaw has issued a European Arrest Warrant in the case of MP Romanowski - informed Anna Adamiak, spokeswoman for the Prosecutor General.

15:17

Nawrocki Slams Trzaskowski:

What's the Use of Speaking Twelve Languages If We Can't Get Anything Done for Poland?
No mode of building the future and modernity requires us to renounce our most important values. This is what I want to convince you of as a person from a big city, from Gdańsk, who has a heart beating for Poland, who loves Poland and knows that Poland is a great thing – stated Karol Nawrocki in Jasienica Rosielna. He knows that it will not be possible to build a common Republic by listening only to those who live in a slightly different space and only to those who, for reasons unknown, carry out tasks in the most important circles of this world. What's the use of speaking 12 languages, what's the use of having contacts with the most important leaders of this state. The question is, what can we get done for the Polish state in these 12, 15, or 27 languages – he continued.

15:18

Nawrocki on Trzaskowski's Decision Regarding Crosses in City Offices:

It's an Attempt to Sever Us from Our Roots.

- We are a nation with a thousand years of experience. A nation shaped by a specific tradition. Yes, this tradition also includes Christian values, which are inscribed within us, are the common foundation of Europe, one of the three most important foundations, and are our genotype, our DNA. Regardless of whether we have the grace of faith or not, we are a nation connected to Christian values and the symbol of the cross – stated Karol Nawrocki in Jasienica Rosielna.

- In the city from which I came to you, although I am not, ladies and gentlemen, from Warsaw, crosses can no longer hang in public places because the Vice-Chairman of Civic Platform has banned them. My opponent in the upcoming elections, this is an attempt to sever us from our roots – he added.

15:24

Prosecutor's Office Seeks Removal of Immunity for Obajtek, Ardanowski, and Szczucki

- The Prosecutor General, Adam Bodnar, today submitted to the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, a request for consent to prosecute Daniel Obajtek, a Member of the European Parliament - the prosecutor's office announced.

Furthermore, Bodnar today submitted to the Marshal of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, Szymon Hołownia, a request for the Sejm of the Republic of Poland to grant consent to prosecute Sejm MPs Jan Krzysztof Ardanowski and Krzysztof Szczucki.

16:26

Why Do We Need Low Prices in Poland When We Have Lower Prices in Berlin? Morawiecki Publishes Graphic

- Why do we need low prices in Poland when we have lower prices in Berlin? - wrote Mateusz Morawiecki on social media, publishing a graphic comparing net prices in Germany and Poland.

16:40

Obajtek Responds to Bodnar's Decision:

Bodnar's People Prepared an Absurd Political Motion.

- Minister Wieczorek's resignation amidst a major scandal? A marathon of price hikes for everyone? Hundreds of millions from KPO for Ms. Kulczyk? An 83% drop in State Treasury company profits? ORLEN's lowest valuation in years? A coup d'état at the National Electoral Commission? We cannot allow Poles to discuss these things over the holidays - Daniel Obajtek wrote on social media.

- Bodnar's people will, without hesitation, carry out any order from their superior. And on command, they have prepared an absurd political motion. Read the accusation they have made: "failure to fulfill duties (...) by not conducting an inspection." I would write that it is shameful to resort to such methods, but Bodnar has long proven that he has no shame - emphasized the PiS MEP.

16:44

Mentzen After Meeting with Duda:

An Interesting Campaign Ahead.

- President Andrzej Duda received members of the Confederation Liberty and Independence (Konfederacja Wolność i Niepodległość) grouping at the Presidential Palace: its co-chairman and presidential candidate Sławomir Mentzen, and Przemysław Wipler - informed the Chancellery of the President.

The discussion focused on the state of democratic processes in Poland, in the context of, among other things, the consequences of the government and some representatives of the most important state institutions not recognizing the Chamber of Extraordinary Control and Public Affairs of the Supreme Court.

The parliamentarians also presented the main assumptions of the constitutional reset proposed by the Confederation. One of the initiatives discussed in this regard was holding a referendum on the day of the presidential elections.

- Thank you to the President for a constructive meeting. An interesting campaign lies ahead! - wrote Sławomir Mentzen.

16:46

Tusk:

Poland Will Not Push Itself Onto the "War Theater" with Its Own Ideas; Security Guarantees Must Be Universal in Europe
- For obvious reasons, Poland is not a state that will push itself onto the war theater, so to speak, with its own ideas. It is absolutely clear to me that all security guarantees must be universal in Europe, meaning every European country must participate in this, and of course, it would be best if this were done together with the United States – Prime Minister Donald Tusk told journalists in Brussels. - We are still strong enough to stop Russia, but we cannot divide ourselves on this issue – he continued.

16:50

Tusk:

Some of our good acquaintances still hold a more pro-Putin view on the war in Ukraine
- There is a lot of hope associated with the change of presidency. I do not hide my disappointment, of course, that some of our good acquaintances, I am referring to some prime ministers, still hold this more pro-Russian or pro-Putin point of view on the war in Ukraine - said Prime Minister Donald Tusk in a conversation with journalists in Brussels.

Everyone in Europe Supports Our Solutions and Says: We Want to Emulate You. Tusk on Suspending the Right to Asylum
- We also discussed the migration issue; there is significant agreement among a large group of countries on this. I spoke about our asylum law, about the fact that we are quite determined and tough when it comes to defending the border, and I must say that even though I used quite strong words, everyone now supports these solutions of ours - said Prime Minister Donald Tusk in a conversation with journalists in Brussels. - The suspension of the right to asylum and the defense of the border, including through these legal decisions, is absolutely not only accepted, but was expected in Europe. Everyone is asking me to send them the text of this law; they want to familiarize themselves with it and believe it is a model of procedure to be emulated - he continued. - I consider this a very big personal success [...] I heard so many words of warning that Europe would never accept this, and I must say that both institutions and prime ministers, presidents, everyone is saying: yes, do it this way, we truly want to emulate you - he went on to say.

17:09

Tusk on Talks with Orbán about Political Asylum:

He's Rather Influenced by Kaczyński's Narrative.
- I told Orbán that various things have happened between us, but I've never seen anything as bizarre as this - Prime Minister Donald Tusk told journalists in Brussels when asked about reports claiming Viktor Orbán said that a Polish citizen might soon receive political asylum in Hungary.

- He tried to explain himself a bit [...] but overall, he's rather influenced by Jarosław Kaczyński's narrative when it comes to interpreting events in Poland - he continued.

- It sounded quite humorous when he said he gave that interview because he is concerned about the state of the rule of law in Poland, so I could only laugh. [...] I'm not one to hold grudges; I won't dwell on interviews because we have several areas of common action with Hungary, for example, on the migration issue, it seems we will be able to cooperate quite well - he added.

17:15

Tusk on Wieczorek's Resignation:

I Have No Intention of Humiliating Anyone. The Matter Has Been Resolved, and for Me, That's Enough.
"I have no intention of humiliating anyone. We agreed that the matter was to be resolved by Friday, and it has been resolved. For me, that's enough" - Prime Minister Donald Tusk told journalists in Brussels when asked about Dariusz Wieczorek's resignation and whether there would be further dismissals, this time of deputy ministers.

"This is nothing personal, because in my relationship with him, Minister Wieczorek was loyal and quite diligent, but I had no doubts that there were too many such unfortunate incidents. It's not my role to decide which publications are true and which are not, but sometimes when the series is too long, if there are too many misfortunes [...] luck also plays a role in politics" - he continued.

"I don't want to confirm or deny these various media reports about Minister Wieczorek, but I received this decision with satisfaction" - he further stated.

Political Asylum for Romanowski in Hungary? Tusk: I told Orbán he'd be in a difficult situation
- If any strange, illegal decisions under European law were to be made in Budapest, such as political asylum or non-compliance with a European arrest warrant, it wouldn't be me who would be in a difficult situation, but Viktor Orbán, and I told him that - Prime Minister Donald Tusk told journalists in Brussels.

17:30

"I Warn Everyone: Don’t Announce Publicly That Someone Will Send Troops." Tusk on His Brussels Talks Regarding Ukraine
- I tell everyone here, because I won’t hide it, that most leaders are now focused on Poland and somewhat on me, in the sense that we are very engaged in helping Ukraine, we hold the presidency, so it’s obvious they want to orient themselves somewhat towards Poland and our proposals - Prime Minister Donald Tusk told journalists in Brussels. - I warn all of them: don’t announce publicly that someone will send troops, until there is a clear definition of what the security guarantee for Ukraine will entail, if there is an armistice, a ceasefire, or a peace treaty. Let's primarily listen to Ukraine on this matter - he continued. “Everyone is waiting to see if American initiatives will emerge” - We Poles can be proud of the fact that everyone at the table repeats our doctrine of “nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine,” so this is also very important, but everyone is also waiting to see if any American initiatives will emerge after the change of power in Washington - the prime minister continued. - I am cautious and believe there is no reason for easy optimism, that there are easy solutions here, but this discussion was very serious [...] maybe two, at most three voices were, I would say, characterized by so-called realism, meaning “let’s not exaggerate, Russia is strong,” I won’t say who spoke like that, but history is calling - he added.

Hungarian Government Grants International Protection to MP Marcin Romanowski
"The Hungarian government has granted MP Marcin Romanowski's request and provided him with international protection based on the 2007 Asylum Law, in connection with actions by the Polish government and its subordinate prosecutor's office that violated his rights and freedoms." - wrote lawyer Bartosz Lewandowski on X. "This is the first case of a Polish politician being granted international protection in another country since 1989. There has been no instance of such protection being granted by another European Union country after Poland's accession to this international organization." - emphasized the lawyer for the former Deputy Minister of Justice.

Cieszyński on Recognizing Only Some Decisions of the Supreme Court's Chamber:

It Cannot Be Explained.
- Why one day a verdict in the Confederation case is recognized, the next day a verdict in the Agreement case is recognized, and on the third day a verdict of the same chamber in the Law and Justice case is not recognized. This cannot be explained – said Janusz Cieszyński in an interview with Sylwia Białek on "Rozmowa PR24".

18:16

Nawrocki:

My Party is Poland

- My party is Poland, Poland is my party, and this is how I view the Polish state through the prism of what we can currently give to the Republic of Poland and what Poland, as a state, should give us so that we can develop, our businesses, our households, so that we can become, as we wish and as we deserve, the heart of Europe, the center of Europe, a state with aspirations and ambitions - stated Karol Nawrocki in Leżajsk.

18:20

Cieszyński:

Where is the Resignation of Bodnar, Who Led to the Arrest of an MP Protected by Immunity?
- The case of Marcin Romanowski is the pinnacle of the current government's incompetence, as this is the first time in history that an MP protected by immunity has been illegally detained - Janusz Cieszyński stated on PR24. - He was deprived of his liberty, and for that, no one has faced any consequences. Where is the resignation of Adam Bodnar, who led to the arrest of an MP protected by immunity? - he continued.

18:28

Cieszyński on Hołownia's Proposal:

A Completely Absurd Situation, Because He is an MP Thanks to the Supreme Court's Chamber of Control.
- This is a completely absurd situation because Mr. Hołownia is the Marshal of the Sejm thanks to the fact that the election results were recognized by the chamber of control [...] Marshal Hołownia is not only the Marshal, but also an MP, thanks to this chamber - said Janusz Cieszyński on PR24, when asked about Szymon Hołownia's proposal for the entire Supreme Court to recognize the validity of elections. - If Marshal Hołownia renounces the mandate he took as a result of this chamber's decision, and as a citizen Szymon Hołownia prepares such a legislative initiative, I will gladly familiarize myself with this document - he continued. - As long as Szymon Hołownia is the Marshal based on the decision of this chamber, and when suddenly this chamber ceases to be convenient for him [...] he says that the composition of the judges should be changed, this is unserious - he went on to say.

18:30

Cieszyński:

Duda is a Top Candidate to Represent Poland in Any International Organization
- Andrzej Duda is an absolutely top candidate to represent Poland in any international organization. He is a man who has shown that he simply knows and understands international politics. When Scholz, Macron, and other European leaders tucked their tails between their legs, Andrzej Duda was a leader in supporting the attacked Ukraine - said Janusz Cieszyński on PR24.

18:34

Nawrocki:

If They Have the Courage, Perhaps They'll Grant Us Some Relief Before the Holidays by Introducing Zero VAT on Food
- We are in a situation that was hard to imagine even a year ago. The high cost of living is affecting our preparations for Christmas. And what is enough to do if the Polish government had the courage and knew how to manage public finances? Firstly, to introduce, as has been successfully done before, a zero VAT rate on food - stated Karol Nawrocki in Leżajsk. - There is a Sejm session before the holidays, so if the parliamentarians have the courage, perhaps they will give us - and the government - some relief before Christmas - he continued. - Polish public finances must be in the hands of people who have the courage to listen to Poles, not just in diplomatic salons, in important places in the Polish parliament, but who have the courage to meet, as I am meeting with you today - he stated.

18:44

Nawrocki on Tusk: Every Day We Hear Almost 'I, King by the Grace of God, Who Undermines Court Rulings, the Constitutional Tribunal, and the Supreme Court'
- We are hearing that perhaps the presidential elections will not take place. For the last 2-3 days, we have heard declarations of this type, and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland, Mr. Donald Tusk, has essentially adopted a fashion where he has not noticed, not understood, that Poland is a republic and a Commonwealth, and in a Commonwealth and a republic, it is 'we, the people' who decide, who choose the authorities [...] - and today we are in a situation where, practically every day, we hear almost 'I, King by the Grace of God, who undermines court rulings, the Constitutional Tribunal, and the Supreme Court' - stated Karol Nawrocki in Leżajsk.

Romanowski's Parliamentary Salary: Hołownia's Decisive Announcement
"A Member of the Polish Sejm, former Deputy Minister of Justice, accused of misappropriating vast sums of public money, fled from a Polish court's ruling to Hungary and obtained political asylum there," Szymon Hołownia wrote on X, referring to the case of Marcin Romanowski. "I have instructed an investigation into how payments of his salary can be ceased" "I understand that he is also choosing Hungarian maintenance in connection with this. Due to his flight from the country, which signifies a clear betrayal of his parliamentary oath, I have instructed the Head of the Chancellery and the legal services of the Sejm to determine how the Republic of Poland can cease paying the Honourable Member remuneration for work from which he has absconded, as quickly as possible," the rest of the post reads.

Szefernaker Announces Actions Regarding Election Protection:

We Must Consider Various Plans.

- Let's not let anyone convince us that we should halt the campaign or refrain from taking action at this moment. We will act with even greater force. We must show how many of us there are, how we are fighting for every vote. Of course, we must consider various plans, including those related to election protection. We will present the details soon; we must be prepared for different scenarios - stated Paweł Szefernaker during a discussion with internet users.

19:32

Nawrocki Announces Housing Initiative:

A Program Tailored to the Needs of the Young Generation.
- Openness to the young generation and the creation of a program, which will be presented in February, a program tailored to their needs, because one proposal will certainly be included in this program. This is not yet a concrete proposal, not a demand, but a matter, a concrete response to your question [to a person in the audience - ed.] - stated Karol Nawrocki in Leżajsk. - All demographic indicators show that young people are leaving their households at an increasingly older age. It's no longer 26-27 years old, but 29-30 years old. So young people feel [...] a lack of basic security around buying their own apartment and moving out to what is called 'their own place' - he continued. - This is a problem for today's older youth. [...] These housing prices are so terrifying that young people live with their families for longer and longer. This is the first thing that resonates from conversations with young people - he went on to say. As he indicated: - The concrete step is to give young people the feeling that the Polish state is helping them to move out into their own homes [...]. Young people deserve housing, and in February, I am convinced, I will be able to present concrete plans regarding this.

19:43

Szefernaker:

We Will Use Various Campaign Formats to Reach Centrist Voters
In terms of reaching centrist voters, we will be using various formats in the campaign to reach centrist voters. We will also have a program that, in my opinion, will address many of the problems where the others have simply deceived them - stated Paweł Szefernaker during a discussion with internet users.

20:03

Szefernaker:

We Must Fight Until the Last Day

- We must fight until the last day. We cannot say today that we already have an upward trend and that it will continue until the end. We must believe in this, fight until the final hours of the campaign. We have 5 difficult months ahead of us - stated Paweł Szefernaker during a discussion with internet users.

20:05

"They Deceived Voters from Right to Left'. Szefernaker on the Coalition's Government
You see what the daily management of these failures looks like. They are not implementing their program, they have deceived Lewica, Lewica is not implementing anything. They have deceived the voters of Third Way. What is this Third Way? It's Tusk's gang, all of it. They have deceived voters from right to left who trusted them – stated Paweł Szefernaker during a discussion with internet users.

20:08

Siemoniak Comments on Romanowski's Asylum in Hungary:

Today Budapest, Tomorrow Moscow.

- I am surprised that a former deputy minister of justice is choosing such a path, because today it's Budapest, tomorrow Moscow. It is known where Hungary stands today on the political map of Europe, and such a decision. An escape from the Polish justice system, because contrary to what the lawyer claims, it was the court that decided, an independent court, not the prosecution, not the government, not the politicians, but an independent court – stated Tomasz Siemoniak in the program "Fakty po Faktach" on TVN24.

20:13

Sikorski Announces Decision:

An Act Unfriendly Towards the Republic of Poland and EU Principles.

- We consider the decision by Viktor Orbán's government to grant political asylum to M. Romanowski, who is suspected of criminal offenses and is wanted under a European arrest warrant, to be an act unfriendly towards the Republic of Poland and the principles of the European Union. We will announce our decisions tomorrow - wrote the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Radosław Sikorski.

20:14

Siemoniak on the Hungarian government's stance:

This is essentially saying that Hungary does not recognize the European arrest warrant.
"This is essentially a question of what interests connect Orbán's Hungarian government with PiS. We have Polish petrol stations handed over to Hungary, we have the issue of what is being said about the potential purchase of TVN, where Orbán would be a front for the Russians" – said Tomasz Siemoniak on TVN24. "I think that by deciding on such a confrontational step towards Poland, because it is essentially saying that it does not recognize the European arrest warrant in a case that does not involve a widely known politician and for which there is evidence, convincing evidence for the Council of Europe, convincing for the Polish court. Orbán is betting here on a game where Putin and Russian interests in Europe are in the background" – he continued.

20:14

Hungary Will Face Consequences for This, We Will Learn from This Situation." Siemoniak on Poland's Reaction to Romanowski's Asylum

- Scandalous statements, interfering in Poland's affairs. The fact that Orbán allows himself to judge another country like this is absolutely unacceptable. In this case, he is acting in Putin's interest, wanting to influence the situation in Poland – stated Tomasz Siemoniak on TVN24.

- Certainly, Hungary will face consequences for such actions towards Poland; we cannot leave this as it is, and Hungary also has numerous interests concerning Poland. They can also request the extradition of suspects in criminal cases, so we will draw conclusions from this situation – he added.

20:15

Siemoniak:

Romanowski's Escape is an Admission of Guilt
- As for Mr. Romanowski himself, he might gain a short-term benefit from not being in a Polish detention center right now, but rather in Hungary. However, for his formation, for his milieu, it is a catastrophe. It is an escape from Polish justice, it is an admission of guilt – said Tomasz Siemoniak on TVN24.
