He Behaves Like a Common Bandit. Sienkiewicz on Romanowski
- I have the impression that the question here is rather for Mr. Romanowski's lawyer, because Mr. Romanowski said he wouldn't faint, he would come and present himself. This escape is compromising for PiS and for Romanowski. It confirms all the worst scenarios one can imagine - Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz said in an interview with Marcin Fijołek on Polsat News's "Graffiti". - Someone who feels certain of their arguments is not afraid of any court or prosecutor's office. In this case, we are dealing simply with the escape of a criminal who has suddenly revealed himself in all his glory - he stated. - We are talking about someone who, before the eyes of millions of Poles, was robbing them of their own money, money designated for helping the weakest. This man was the head of this scheme. If he now evades responsibility, then it is simply the behavior of a common bandit - he assessed. He added: - I hope that one day we will see him returning to Poland, just like caught bandits return.

08:36

Korneluk on Romanowski:

I Trust the Police; They Are Responsible Officers Who Will Apprehend the Suspect.

- I don't know if this is the police's stance, I don't know on what basis the editors of "Gazeta Wyborcza" are making such assumptions. I trust the police; they are responsible officers who will certainly effectively lead to the apprehension of the suspect [Marcin Romanowski] - stated Dariusz Korneluk on TOK FM.

08:39

Korneluk on the European Arrest Warrant:

That's the Procedure.
"That's the procedure. We can apply for a European Arrest Warrant if there are grounds for it. Such grounds are any information received by the procedural authority that the person being sought has left the territory of the Republic of Poland. In that case, we can apply for a European warrant. Until that moment, there are no grounds for it," stated Dariusz Korneluk on TOK FM.

08:42

Biedroń on the Left's Presidential Candidate:

A True Girl Next Door That Poles Want.

- Magda Biejat is on top today, I see the reactions after Magda announced she would run, they are sensational, a true girl next door that Polish women and men want – stated Robert Biedroń in the program ,,Rozmowa Piaseckiego” on TVN24.

Biedroń: Biejat is a much better candidate than me

- She is a much better candidate, she is much better than me, I believe that for these times she is much better, in the sense of 2025, she is much better. Because, firstly, the profile of our voters has changed. Today, primarily women vote for us, and these women want a woman to represent them in these elections. She will be the only female candidate, and this is not a characteristic we should solely rely on – he continued.

- Magda is sensitive, Magda unites, Magda is that true girl next door, I think that's what the Polish presidency is lacking today – he emphasized.

08:43

Sienkiewicz on the Pace of Settling Accounts with PiS:

I Understand the Impatient, but This Isn't a Snap-of-the-Fingers Operation.
- It's a bit like a flight on an airplane that's full of turbulence or dangers. The captain eventually manages to land safely on the runway, and then the passengers usually applaud him with relief that everything ended well. 15 minutes later, the same passengers are asking why they don't have a replacement flight when they find out, whether they have a hotel, why it's so late. That's just how it is - said Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz in Polsat News's "Graffiti," when asked about the pace of settling accounts with the previous government. - I absolutely understand people who are impatient, who want things faster, stronger. But there are also limitations, both legal and institutional. One must also consider that from the perspective of those governing, these are not operations like snapping one's fingers - he added.

08:44

Biedroń:

Voters Today Seek a Presidential Candidate Above the Bickering

- We examined various candidates and it became clear that a person with this profile [like Magdalena Biejat] should run, because that's what voters, not just from the Left, want today. They are looking for a presidential candidate who will be above these quarrels – said Robert Biedroń on TVN24.

08:52

Sienkiewicz:

If the PKW rules PiS bears no financial responsibility, it will send a dire signal about the state's immorality
- I have no idea how today will end regarding the PKW, but I know one thing with absolute certainty. Before the eyes of millions of Poles, PiS stole public money. What's more, they took a sort of pride in it, in the spirit of "what are you going to do about it?" – said Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz on Polsat News's "Graffiti". - This was a procedure that was illegal even in relation to the legal formula that PiS itself devised to steal that money. [...] If the PKW decides "it's not a problem," and PiS will not bear any financial responsibility for it, then this will be a dire signal not only legally, but truly concerning the immorality of the state, with very serious consequences for the future – he assessed.

09:02

Sienkiewicz on the Supreme Court's Chamber of Control: Politically Constructed to Give PiS Influence over the Electoral Process
- He [Jarosław Kaczyński] wanted to have influence over the entire electoral process. That's why he created this Extraordinary Control Chamber – which has been questioned both in the dispute between the Polish state ruled by PiS and the EU, and by a significant portion of the Supreme Court judges – so that he would have the button and the switch, a fuse in case something went wrong - said Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz in "Graffiti" on Polsat News. - Judges who were improperly appointed are dealing with this Chamber. This is not the Supreme Court. This is a chamber that was politically constructed so that the PiS political party would have influence over the electoral process - he emphasized. - Therefore, recognizing it as a normal body, like any other in the state, is closing one's eyes, it's untrue. It is a fictitious body, the same as the National Media Council - he added.

09:04

Biedroń on Razem Fielding a Presidential Candidate:

I Appeal for Dialogue and Reason on This Matter.

- I hope this does not happen [Razem fielding a candidate] and I appeal for dialogue on this matter, because wherever the Left is divided, we lose. Today we have an excellent candidate, who moreover comes from the Razem milieu, I appeal for dialogue, for reason on this matter – stated Robert Biedroń on TVN24.

- I know in practice what collecting signatures in Razem looks like, I support Razem. I believe we should walk side by side, but the reality is unfortunately as it is. One needs to collect over 100,000 signatures and it will be difficult for them – he added.

09:05

Biedroń on Coalition Moods:

This is not the time for champagne; the champagne was a year ago, on December 13th.

- This is not the time for champagne; the champagne was on December 13th of last year. We will be spending it separately, unfortunately, Mr. Editor, there will be no joint champagne on New Year's Eve. I think we will have more interesting company – Robert Biedroń said on TVN24.

- These talks are happening, they concern important matters, strategic issues. Politics is not about us loving each other. I have someone to love, Tusk has someone to love, and Hołownia has someone to love, and Czarzasty too. It is important that we cooperate with each other, and this cooperation exists. It is sometimes rough because we come from different backgrounds – he continued.

09:07

Biedroń:

Prosecuting Kaczyński over a 40 zł plaque mocks accountability

- Hopes were raised on this matter that it could be done 'just like that'. It won't be done like that. Certain actions, I admit, mock this accountability process. Haggling with Kaczyński over a plaque worth 40 zł – it's fair, because everyone is equal before the law – but still, over a plaque worth 40 zł, it will, at a certain point, become a symbol of this government's failure to hold people accountable, if there is no accountability – stated Robert Biedroń on TVN24.

- If we stop at this and it ends with Kaczyński, despite all his sins, neglects, and terrible sacrileges that Kaczyński and his team committed, remaining at the level of a 40 zł plaque, it will be a major problem for this coalition. But I believe that if anyone, then Adam Bodnar is determined in these matters – he assessed.

09:08

Changes in the Leadership of The Left? Biedroń: I've Heard About Czarzasty's Declarations, I Will Certainly Not Run for Leader

- I've heard about such declarations from Włodzimierz Czarzasty, and I can only speak for myself. Yes, on my part, I certainly do not intend to run again for the leadership of The Left. This is because I have fulfilled my task. We brought The Left into parliament, we brought The Left into the European Parliament, The Left returned to the government after 18 years. We did our part – stated Robert Biedroń on TVN24.

09:09

‘For now, I see no reason for resignation, but he will have to confess.’ Biedroń on Wieczorek

- I do not see a reason today for such a radical move as to dismiss Minister Wieczorek; he is not doing well, but that's how it is in government. First, there was Minister Hennig-Kloska, then Minister Leszczyna. In every government, there are ministers who stumble at some point; that is the frailty of human nature – said Robert Biedroń on TVN24.

Biedroń: This week, there will be a meeting of our formation’s leaders, where we will talk with Minister Wieczorek

- Minister Wieczorek has made certain mistakes for which he will have to confess. I can announce to you: this week, there will be a meeting of our formation’s leaders, organized by Deputy Prime Minister Gawkowski, where we will talk with Mr. Wieczorek about each of these issues, because we expect much deeper explanations – he added.

09:10

Błaszczak:

Policemen Specialized in Hunting Murderers Are Tracking Romanowski. What Kind of Country Do We Live In?
- I am disturbed by the fact that state and political agencies have been involved in a smear campaign against Minister Romanowski, because when I read that a group of policemen specialized in pursuing criminals, murderers, are engaged in tracking Minister Romanowski, I thought to myself: what kind of country do we live in? - said Mariusz Błaszczak in a conversation with Jacek Prusinowski on the program "Sedno sprawy" on Radio Plus. - We live in a country where Donald Tusk says he will break the law, he is preparing a Nuremberg trial, so we live in such a country - he continued.

09:15

Błaszczak on Grabiec's Post Regarding a Fire Truck for a Municipality That Catches Romanowski:

A Putin-esque Joke.
- The Head of Prime Minister Donald Tusk's Chancellery, Jan Grabiec, is organizing a competition and wants to offer a fire truck to the municipality that apprehends an opposition MP. What kind of standards are these? - said Mariusz Błaszczak on Radio Plus. - This is a Putin-esque joke, a Moscow joke. It's against Western standards - he continued.

09:21

PKW and the Decision on PiS's Financial Report. Błaszczak: I Expect the Worst
- I expect the worst because I listen to what the representatives of the PKW, chosen by the December 13th coalition, are saying - Mariusz Błaszczak said on Radio Plus, when asked what he expects regarding PiS's financial report and the PKW's actions after the decision of the control chamber of the Supreme Court. - In my conviction, their aim is to close the system, to enable Rafał Trzaskowski's victory at all costs - he continued.

09:29

Projects 'On Paper' and Less Money for the Defense Industry: Błaszczak Critiques Ministry of National Defense Actions
- On paper [the programs are being continued]. There is no signed agreement regarding the production of K2 tanks in our country, no signed agreement for the acquisition of 500 HIMARS launchers, no agreement for the acquisition of Borsuk combat infantry vehicles for the Polish Army - Mariusz Błaszczak stated on Radio Plus, when asked to assess the Ministry of National Defense's actions during the first year of the current coalition's government. - Regarding the funds directed to the Polish defense industry, last year this percentage was higher, over 30%, than this year, only 23%. And they promised 50% - he continued.

09:35

Błaszczak:

The Border with Belarus Should Be Mined, and This Is Not Being Done
- The border should be mined, and this is not being done. Anti-tank obstacles were placed, rows of them, but on the Belarusian side there is a wall of forest. Placing one or even two rows of these anti-tank obstacles, in a situation where there is a wall of forest at a short distance, makes no sense, according to experts in this matter, because before an attack could come from that side, the forest would have to be cleared - Mariusz Błaszczak said on Radio Plus.

10:04

Time for a Decision. Tusk Announces Talks Regarding Wieczorek

- The time has come for a decision regarding Minister Dariusz Wieczorek. I will discuss this with the leader of New Left today - wrote Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

10:36

Nawrocki:

Those who, in the Third Polish Republic, looked admiringly and respectfully towards Jaruzelski and Kiszczak can once again feel ashamed today
- The 'Wujek' mine and the deaths of miners is also a symbol of the difficulties in the process of systemic transformation in Poland. I remind you that it took many years to hold the perpetrators accountable, and Wojciech Jaruzelski and Czesław Kiszczak were never convicted for the deaths of the victims of martial law and those miners who lost their lives in the 'Wujek' mine - said Karol Nawrocki at a press briefing in Katowice. - I think that those who, in the Third Polish Republic, looked admiringly and respectfully towards Jaruzelski and Kiszczak can once again feel ashamed today, because Wojciech Jaruzelski and Czesław Kiszczak were heroes and partners for many, unfortunately, political circles for many after 1989, in a Poland being born to freedom - he stated.

10:45

Nawrocki:

Sometimes I feel like December 13th is in effect in certain segments of social life
- I hope it does not obligate [the term “coalition of December 13th”]. Although sometimes, when I observe the reinstatement of retirement benefits for former SB (Security Service) officers or further revolutions in the MEN (Ministry of National Education) curriculum, I have the impression that this December 13th is in effect in certain segments of social life, and it terrifies me greatly - said Karol Nawrocki at a press briefing in Katowice. - In general, December 13th is one of the most tragic dates in Polish historical consciousness. […] Carrying such a date as December 13th on one’s shoulders for contemporary politicians should, however, be associated with a clear break from the post-communist element - he continued. - I would like to live in a Poland where December 13th is a day of reflection on the victims of the communist system, to whom I pay tribute today, rather than a reference point for those who are creating contemporary reality - he added.

10:56

The Wieczorek Case. Czarzasty: I Asked the Prime Minister for a Meeting
- After leaving the hospital, I asked the Prime Minister for a meeting. Thanks for the quick (as usual) reaction - Włodzimierz Czarzasty wrote on X, referring to an earlier post by Prime Minister Donald Tusk about a planned conversation regarding Dariusz Wieczorek.

10:57

Nawrocki Responds to Pomaska:

She's Forcibly Looking for Problems or Scandals That Don't Exist.
- I am glad that Poland is getting to know MP Agnieszka Pomaska, because many people in Gdańsk and Pomerania know the MP, so not everyone takes these behaviours of the MP seriously. Anyone with even a shred of imagination realizes, first and foremost, that the director of a large state cultural institution is not responsible for the assortment in a museum gift shop - said Karol Nawrocki at a press briefing in Katowice. - My wonderful people at the Museum of the Second World War, who were responsible for the gift shop, chose Polish brands, and could not extrapolate articles that were in the museum gift shop to political scandals many years later - he explained. - The sum itself, which was spent to bring this brand [Red is Bad] to the gift shop, also shows that it was simply not a retail, but also not a wholesale purchase - he added. - I treat this matter as another satire from MP Pomaska. [...] It seems to me that the MP is forcibly looking for problems or scandals that truly do not exist - he stated.

11:08

Trela:

In My Opinion, Wieczorek Does Not Deserve to Resign

- These situations from the past week are concerning, today's financial statement and the data regarding the financial statement are also concerning, but all of this can be explained. In my opinion, Minister Wieczorek does not deserve to resign. If there is a resignation, it will be the decision of the political leader of the Left and Prime Minister Tusk - stated Tomasz Trela in a conversation with journalists in the Sejm.

11:33

Tusk on Minsk and Moscow’s Attempts at Interference:

Various Aggressive Actions Can Be Expected.

- Every hour of every day, we receive information that some of our neighbors, I'm mainly thinking of Minsk and Moscow, that various aggressive actions can indeed be expected from there. Even on my way to you today, I heard once again about Russian attempts to interfere, for example, in the elections in Poland - stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk during a Christmas Eve meeting at the 15th Gołdap Anti-Aircraft Artillery Regiment.

- This matter, although it was discontinued by the prosecutor's office in Olsztyn, because it was difficult to identify the perpetrators, concerning the disruption of elections in Poland a few years ago, we will continue to deal with it, because Poland will also be safe when we know that no one has a chance to interfere in our internal affairs, and the fact that you are here on the ground also deters our potential adversaries from more aggressive actions - PDT continued.

11:55

Kosiniak-Kamysz Praises Tusk for Modernizing the Polish Army:

Without his direct influence, there would be no safer border.

- Without his [the Prime Minister's] direct influence, this unit [the 15th Gołdap Anti-Aircraft Artillery Regiment] would not exist. The border would not be safer, nor could we today, together with Minister Tomczyk, be creating something that is truly unique in Poland since World War II. The largest deterrence and defense program, and the largest expenditures on modernizing the Polish army, for reform, and for building the strongest Polish army in our history, because that is our goal. That is our great ambition – stated Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz during a Christmas Eve meeting at the 15th Gołdap Anti-Aircraft Artillery Regiment.

11:55

Kosiniak-Kamysz:

The Polish Army Numbers 208,000 Soldiers, We Have the Third Largest NATO Army by Size

- Poles are contributing to the fact that we are building a strong and large army. Next year, it will be 4.7% of GDP, 187 billion, which is 50 billion more than in 2023, this is a huge effort for the entire society – said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz during a Christmas Eve meeting at the 15th Gołdap Anti-Aircraft Regiment.

- It [the army] currently numbers 208,000, these are the latest statistics from the end of last week. It is the third largest NATO army in terms of numbers, right after the United States and Turkey, this is a great effort, this is a great transformation — he added.

12:06

"We Must Have the Keys Here on the Ground": Kosiniak-Kamysz on the European Iron Dome Program
We will invest in air defence, a proposal also put forward by the Prime Minister, concerning a kind of European dome, an iron dome, because what system should we be exchanging in Europe if not air defence. Here, the keys to this system must be in the right place, and it must be moved if necessary – stated Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz during a Christmas Eve meeting at the 15th Anti-Aircraft Regiment in Gołdap.

12:07

Kosiniak-Kamysz:

"Phoenix" Operation Extended to April 2025

- The General Commander has just reported that further bridges in the Opole and Lower Silesian Voivodeships have been rebuilt, constructed by the Polish Army, by engineer troops. The Territorial Defence Force, as well as engineer troops and other soldiers, are constantly involved in the "Phoenix" operation, which will not end at the end of this year, but has been extended to April 2025, because there is a need for it – said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz during a Christmas Eve meeting at the 15th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Regiment in Gołdap.

12:29

CEC President: Regulations stipulate that if the Supreme Court upholds an appeal, electoral bodies shall promptly accept the report

- The regulation allows for little room to maneuver, as the provision in Article 145 § 6 of the Electoral Code stipulates that in the event of an appeal being upheld by the Supreme Court, electoral bodies shall promptly accept the report. Promptly, meaning de facto within a few days, and this has been the practice of electoral bodies to date – stated the head of the National Electoral Commission (PKW), Sylwester Marciniak, in an interview with journalists.

12:35

Kalisz:

PKW Moved to Exclude Illegally Appointed Judges, Unfortunately Motion Rejected

- Judges and individuals appointed by the President under Article 179 of the Polish Constitution, a provision that requires a motion from the National Council of the Judiciary [for a judge's appointment], and such a [legal] National Council of the Judiciary does not legally exist. Consequently, they are appointed illegally. In other words, because the Chamber of Extraordinary Control and Public Affairs consists solely of such judges, the National Electoral Commission (PKW) moved for the exclusion of these judges from the composition, unfortunately this motion was rejected, and as a result, there are further consequences from my perspective – stated Ryszard Kalisz in a conversation with journalists.

12:44

Wieczorek's Spokesperson Resigns, WP Hints at Further Revelations

- I have decided to resign from the position of Spokesperson for the Minister of Science and am ending my employment at the ministry. I thank everyone for their cooperation, especially the journalists. I wish my colleagues at the ministry all the best - wrote Natalia Żyto on social media.

- I don't want to be one-topic, but neither the press spokesperson nor the department director, who had to leave the Ministry of Science on short notice, have anything to do with the story that Paweł Figurski and I still have to report on - replied Patryk Słowik from WP.

12:46

Tusk Announces Meeting of the Collegium for Special Services:

We Will Not Allow Foreign Interference in Our Elections.

- Having learned from the experience of recent years in Poland and other European countries, we will not allow foreign interference in our elections. The Collegium for Special Services will address this matter at its next meeting - Prime Minister Donald Tusk wrote on social media.

14:19

The National Electoral Commission and PiS's Report: "We are dealing with a situation that prevents a decision from being made"
- There is no final decision. I hope that the authorities of the Republic of Poland, the legislator, will finally sort out this situation that is currently taking place. We are dealing with a situation that prevents a decision from being made in this regard - said Paweł Gieras, a member of the National Electoral Commission (PKW), in an interview with journalists. - On the one hand, there are doubts as to whether the chamber that issued the ruling is a court; many arguments can be presented that it is not such a court. However, the National Electoral Commission is not another court that can assess another court in this way. [...] This request was submitted in order to give the legislator time to, in short, rectify the situation - he continued. - When it returns [the report] from the Supreme Court [the National Electoral Commission should accept it immediately]. The question is whether it has returned from the Supreme Court - he added.

14:22

PKW Member: Today's Situation Should Mobilize Politicians to Fix It
- Today's situation should mobilize politicians, the law-making bodies, to begin the process of fixing this situation as quickly as possible - said PKW member Paweł Gieras in a conversation with journalists.

14:27

Presidential Election Under Threat? National Election Commission Member Reassures: No Such Concerns
- There are no such concerns. The National Election Commission is functioning, and the electoral process for the presidential elections will be conducted in accordance with the Electoral Code - said National Election Commission member Paweł Gieras in a conversation with journalists, when asked about the possible annulment of next year's presidential elections due to the adjournment of the National Election Commission's deliberations regarding PiS's report.

15:03

Siemoniak on Romanowski:

We Will Use All Tools, and Sooner or Later He Will Be Brought In.
- We will certainly use all available tools, and sooner or later Mr. Romanowski will be brought in by the Polish justice system, wherever he is currently staying - said Tomasz Siemoniak at a press conference. - Such declarations were made that these individuals are available, that detention is a superfluous step; now those who said so must simply be ashamed - he continued. - Mr. Romanowski clearly has something to fear regarding his past actions, given that he is not ready to appear before the justice system and testify and explain. This reflects very poorly on him, because every citizen should be equal here. If a former Deputy Minister of Justice is fleeing from the Polish prosecution, what does that indicate - he went on to say.

15:04

Marciniak:

Legislative Regulation of the Supreme Court's Chamber of Extraordinary Control and Public Affairs is Unrealistic in the Near Future

- At the outset, Mr. Advocate Gieras submitted a motion to postpone the decision on the financial report of the PiS electoral committee, following the Supreme Court's ruling last week, on December 11, regarding, as he stated: 'a systemic regulation of the statute of the Chamber of Extraordinary Control and Public Affairs' - stated the President of the National Electoral Commission (PKW), Sylwester Marciniak, in a conversation with journalists.

- This motion, submitted by one of the PKW members, to postpone until legislative regulation by the legislative authorities of this status is enacted. In my opinion, this is not realistic in the near future - he continued.

15:14

Marciniak comments on today's National Electoral Commission decision:

This is a dangerous situation, we have presidential elections coming up.

- This motion, after a stormy discussion lasting nearly 2 hours, passed by a majority vote. Just as it has been so far, in fact, with the National Electoral Commission's stance regarding judges or motions for recusal of judges from considering cases, 5 to 4. This is a dangerous situation to the extent that shortly, after January 15th, the Marshal of the Sejm's decision on ordering presidential elections, which should take place in May, should be published - said the chairman of the National Electoral Commission, Sylwester Marciniak, in an interview with journalists.

15:15

Marciniak on Subsidies for PiS:

At This Moment, This Money Should Be Paid Out.

- Arguments are also appearing in the media that the Minister of Finance is waiting for a decision from the National Electoral Commission (PKW). I pointed out that Article 38d of the Act on Political Parties provides that the resolution of the PKW concerning the financial statement of a political party only takes effect when the given entity does not file a complaint with the Supreme Court. This means that the resolution is not only final but also legally binding – stated the Chairman of the PKW, Sylwester Marciniak, in a conversation with journalists.

- At this moment, this money should be paid out – he added.

15:19

Morawiecki on the PKW:

Obedient Commission of Power.

- PKW - Posłuszna Komisja Władzy (Obedient Commission of Power) - wrote Mateusz Morawiecki on social media.

16:52

Kaczyński on Depriving PiS of Subsidies:

Liquidation of the Democratic Mechanism.
- Depriving one side of the political dispute, which is characteristic of democracy, of financial means is nothing else but, in fact, the liquidation of the principle of equality of competing political formations [...] it is, in fact, a very strong blow, or even the liquidation of the democratic mechanism - stated Jarosław Kaczyński in a press statement. "Our patience has run out." Kaczyński Names Names - Until now, we have never provided this kind of information, but one can say that our patience has run out here. There are specific people behind this decision [...] Ryszard Balicki, Ryszard Kalisz, Paweł Gieras, Maciej Kliś, and Konrad Składowski. These gentlemen constitute this five-person majority in the National Electoral Commission that makes these kinds of decisions - the PiS leader continued. "Kalisz Should Not Be in the National Electoral Commission" - I would remind you that Mr. Kalisz should not be in the National Electoral Commission because his party does not have a sufficient number of votes, a sufficient percentage of votes in the Sejm, to have the ability to send its representative to the National Electoral Commission, while our party [...] is entitled to a fourth member - he further stated.

16:59

Kaczyński:

National Electoral Commission Committed a Crime
- We have a final and positive decision for us, which is the decision of the Supreme Court, from which there is no appeal and which should be approved, but this is not an optional approval, but obligatory, it is a legal duty, simply put, the National Electoral Commission should change its previous decision in light of this and grant us the appropriate funds - said Jarosław Kaczyński in a press statement. - It has not fulfilled this legal duty, meaning it has committed a crime, of course, it concerns those who voted for such a decision, under Article 231 of the Penal Code, the failure to perform duties and exceeding authority in this case - he continued.

17:05

Kaczyński on the selective treatment of the Supreme Court Chamber's decisions:

This is no longer even a breach of the rule of law, it's a step further.
- What does this group within the National Electoral Commission cite as its basis? It's the alleged illegality of this chamber of the Supreme Court, which makes decisions, i.e., the Extraordinary Review and Public Cases Chamber. Well, this chamber has made many other decisions concerning such matters, and recently [...] it made such decisions concerning Konfederacja and Jarosław Gowin's party - said Jarosław Kaczyński in a press statement. - These decisions were implemented. So, we are dealing with a situation where, when the authorities are not bothered by these decisions, they accept them and, consequently, also accept this chamber. This also applies to the decision regarding the validity of the parliamentary elections. However, when they don't like these decisions, they simply don't implement them - he continued. - This is a rejection of the very principle of the applicability of law. This is no longer even a breach of the rule of law, it is something that goes a step further than a breach of the rule of law - he further stated.

18:10

Duda on PKW Decision:

The Post-Communist Hydra Has Spoken Again. It Feeds the Remnants of Communist False Elites.

- Regarding the specifics, I will be able to analyze them only after the meeting with the Presidents concludes. However, generally, I can say one thing. If someone questions one of the chambers of the Supreme Court today, if they use the term "neo-judges," they are thereby questioning the presidential prerogative of appointing judges, the permanence and stability of this prerogative - stated President Andrzej Duda at a press briefing.

- I will absolutely never agree to this and will always defend judges who have received appointments and taken oaths before the President of the Republic - he continued.

- The second matter - I will remind you of the sources of this reform. The sources of this reform were the problems that plagued the Polish judiciary from the very beginning, since 1989. Including the presence of post-communist judges in the Polish judiciary, also in the Supreme Court. Also, those who were disgraced by rulings issued during martial law, as well as disgraced by their participation in the system of enslaving Poles in the 1980s. The goal was to cleanse the judiciary - emphasized PAD.

- Today, this post-communist hydra, which constantly defends and feeds these remnants of communist false elites in Poland, is always defending them, and today it has once again spoken, as I understand it, in the PKW. I will say this. I will fight it to the very end. I will never cease this fight, because it is a matter of making Poland truly 100% free from these types of dregs that should not have been there for a long time, and I will never cease this fight - he added.

- However, there is, of course, the question of what influence is being attempted through this on the upcoming presidential elections, and that is a completely different matter, requiring separate analysis - he concluded.

Nawrocki:

Fans Are Also Citizens and They Also Vote
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, fans of Lechia and all other football clubs throughout Poland are also citizens and they also engage in social life, they also go to the polls and they also have the right to be here - stated Karol Nawrocki in Gdańsk.

19:40

Nawrocki:

Poland Can Be Great, or It Can Cease to Exist

- Poland is a big deal, and Poland can either be great, or unfortunately, as we know from our history, it can cease to exist, because we have experienced such a life. For Poland to exist in the future, to exist today, it must be great, it must develop, it must have its own ambitions, aspirations, it must strive to be a strong state and a strong nation in the very heart of Europe - stated Karol Nawrocki in Gdańsk.

19:44

Nawrocki on the Expansion of the Port of Gdańsk:

Here is my declaration.

- Here is my declaration, here in Gdańsk. When I become President of the Republic of Poland, I will strive for and patronize all processes related to the expansion of the Port of Gdańsk, the construction of an outer port in Gdynia, and also the construction of a deep-water terminal in Świnoujście - stated Karol Nawrocki in Gdańsk.

19:46

Nawrocki:

Berlin Airport Does Not Meet Our Aspirations

- You won't find me advocating for this if the limit of my ambitions were to be Berlin airport, rather than a major airport in Poland, then I'm out. Certainly, Berlin airport does not meet our aspirations. That is obvious - stated Karol Nawrocki in Gdańsk.

19:48

Nowacka:

We Know These Won't Be Easy Elections. We Want to Win Them Fairly
- We want to win the elections [...], which is why Rafał Trzaskowski is mega active. The last few days he's been in Podkarpacie, with more meetings, actions, and activities planned. Because we know these won't be easy elections - said Barbara Nowacka in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on Polsat News' "Gość Wydarzeń" (Guest of Events). - However, one thing is certain - we want to win these elections fairly. And this is how we differ from PiS, whose actions during the 2023 campaign were simply unthinkable in the way they used public money - she emphasized.

19:48

Nawrocki:

The Future Civic President Will Finally Restore the Value of the Polish Flag at Sea

- The future civic president of the Republic of Poland will finally restore the value of the Polish flag at sea. Because this is a demand that has emerged and needs to be fulfilled at last - stated Karol Nawrocki in Gdańsk.

19:50

Nawrocki:

I Don't Need to Pretend to Be Among People; I Am a Man of Hard Work, Flesh and Blood

- I don't want to take you into another episode of the series 'How to Become President of the Republic of Poland', what you need to do, who you need to pretend to be, where you need to take selfies, how you need to pretend to be among people; this is not my film, this is not my series – stated Karol Nawrocki at a meeting with Gdańsk residents.

- I would like us, dear ladies and gentlemen, to embark together on a journey towards an ordinary candidate becoming President of the Republic of Poland, because he is a man of hard work, flesh and blood – he added.

19:58

Nowacka:

It's Necessary to Elect Someone Who Understands the Legal Order - Trzaskowski
- Kaczyński decided to place all political matters in this very Chamber [Extraordinary Control and Public Affairs Chamber of the Supreme Court], and this is the effect of great legal chaos. We would like this to be orderly, but as we can see [...], there will be no such will from the President's side - Barbara Nowacka said on "Gość Wydarzeń" on Polsat News. - That is why we must win the presidential elections even more, to bring order to the legal system - she added. - Until we have a clarified legal system, we will effectively remain in a stalemate. Therefore, it is necessary to elect a person who understands the legal order - and that person is Rafał Trzaskowski - she pointed out.

20:02

Nawrocki:

Polish Shipyards Were Completely Wiped Out by Draconian Liberals

- What did radical, draconian liberals do to Polish shipyards? How can one detach economic calculations from the social life of such large cities as Gdańsk, Gdynia, and Szczecin, because the Szczecin shipyard is gone, the Gdynia shipyard is gone, and the Gdańsk one is still somehow gasping and functioning – said Karol Nawrocki during a meeting with Gdańsk residents.

- When I talk to shipyard workers, ladies and gentlemen, do you know what they can't forgive the most? The years 2008 and 2009, when Polish shipyards were completely wiped out, while German shipyards were developing. This was the mechanism that destroyed our shipyard system, and we should not tolerate this either – he continued.

20:04

Bodnar on the PKW's Decision to Postpone Ruling on PiS's Financial Report:

I Assess it Positively.
- I assess it positively [the PKW's decision], I think we are all in a difficult situation when it comes to the functioning of the Chamber of Extraordinary Control and Public Affairs - Adam Bodnar said on TVN24's "Fakty po Faktach," when asked about the PKW postponing its decision regarding PiS's financial report. - Please note that we have three individuals sitting in this chamber who, for the same reasons, refuse to rule, saying: when the legislator regulates, when the legislator responds to the rulings of the Court of Justice of the European Union and the European Court of Human Rights, then we will return to ruling - he continued.

20:08

Nowacka:

There is no reason for the Chamber of Extraordinary Control to be the Supreme Court's contact with the National Electoral Commission
- The Chamber of Extraordinary Control and Public Affairs is a strictly political chamber. A colleague of Piebiak, President Duda's colleague from studies... Clearly partisan actions - said Barbara Nowacka in "Gość Wydarzeń" on Polsat News. - There is no reason for this particular chamber to be the Supreme Court's contact with the National Electoral Commission - she stated.

20:08

Bodnar on Marciniak's Statement Regarding Presidential Elections:

I Don't Fully Understand What He Meant.
- The National Electoral Commission is certainly operating, as it is making very specific decisions. I don't quite understand what the judge, the chairman of the National Electoral Commission [Sylwester Marciniak], meant in the context of the presidential elections - said Adam Bodnar on TVN24, when asked about Sylwester Marciniak's statement.

20:09

Nawrocki:

Restoring Order in the Polish Judiciary Will Be One of the Main Goals of My Presidency

- I guarantee, and I publicly guaranteed this yesterday, that restoring order in the Polish judiciary will be one of the main tasks I set for myself. Because today, citizens, we, the state, essentially do not know who is issuing judgments and which judgment to trust and which not, I'm talking about the public debate. Some extra-statutory categories of neo-judges and non-neo-judges are emerging. I sympathize with us, the citizens, ordinary people, who are in this hall – stated Karol Nawrocki at a meeting with residents of Gdańsk.

20:13

Morawiecki:

A Powerful Blow to the Foundations of Democracy is Occurring
From what we can observe, a powerful blow to the foundations of democracy is occurring. The basis of a democratic system is that different entities, citizens, in this case political parties, are treated equally under the same legal status - stated Mateusz Morawiecki on wPolsce24. - And indeed, the Chamber of Extraordinary Control and Public Affairs of the Supreme Court, this chamber recently made appropriate decisions regarding the Porozumienie and Konfederacja parties. And these two judgments were recognized, approved by the National Electoral Commission (PKW), and executed as having legal force. And this same chamber presents appropriate decisions of the PKW concerning PiS, and in this situation, the PKW treats this decision in a completely different way and claims it will wait until Saint Jerome's Day - he continued.

20:15

Perhaps a Swift Amendment is Needed, Transferring Competencies to a Chamber with Real Judges." Bodnar on Resolving Electoral Disputes
- Let’s imagine, I hope this situation won’t arise, but various disputes may emerge, perhaps election results on the borderline, and the question arises: do we have a court, an arbiter, that would be capable of resolving these disputes – said Adam Bodnar on TVN24. - Perhaps we need a swift amendment to the Supreme Court Act and, for example, transferring this competence to a chamber where genuine Supreme Court judges sit, or simply to the full bench of the Supreme Court – he continued. - I don’t know, I wouldn’t rule it out [that the president would sign such a bill] – he added.

20:15

Nowacka:

I expect President Duda to not focus on his athlete career, but to fix what he himself has broken
- I would truly expect President Andrzej Duda not to focus on his career as an athlete and an IOC official. I would like him to focus on supporting the legal order in Poland and to fix what he himself has broken – said Barbara Nowacka on Polsat News' "Gość Wydarzeń" (Guest of Events). - If there is no attempt at a joint way out, then we will indeed live in chaos and uncertainty. We want to live in a decent, ordered rule of law state. This is why this decision by the National Electoral Commission (PKW) is heading precisely in that direction – she continued.

20:18

Morawiecki:

The donations we are appealing for are a civic voice of protest against blatant lawlessness
These donations, which we are appealing for, which we are asking for very fervently, are a civic voice of protest against this blatant lawlessness. To call this the Wild West would be an understatement; it would be a compliment to those currently in power. This is Belarus, and I truly do not hesitate to use such a system - stated Mateusz Morawiecki on wPolsce24.

20:21

Morawiecki announces report presentation:

I will shout loudly.

– "I will shout loudly. A report by a very reputable American think tank, with the participation of European experts, is nearing completion" – stated Mateusz Morawiecki in wPolsce24.

– "I will present this report with immense sadness in various places, because what is happening today is simply crushing with tanks. Just like 43 years ago, Jaruzelski's communist authorities crushed our history, our solidarity with tanks, so today these authorities are crushing with their tanks of today, meaning their brutality. After all, the state's apparatus of violence stands behind all of this. If we wanted to go and knock on the Minister of Finance's door: Mr. Minister, we ask for all the law to be on our side, it speaks for us, please transfer funds to the opposition party" – he continued.

20:22

Nawrocki Comments on Nowacka's Reforms:

We Have the Right, and Even the Duty, to Teach in Polish Schools How to Be Polish.

- The curriculum reforms themselves, the regulations issued by the Minister of Education, are very alarming and disturbing, because they remove many heroes who are important for our history and identity, on the one hand, and emotions, on the other – said Karol Nawrocki at a meeting with the residents of Gdańsk.

- It is natural that we, dear ladies and gentlemen, have the right, and even the duty, to teach in Polish schools how to be Polish and a citizen of Poland – he added.

20:24

Bodnar Comments on Duda's Words:

Are 40-year-olds in Polish Courts, Educated in Free Poland, the Remnants?
- I am a bit surprised that the President is returning to his rhetoric, which is very strong and assertive, and I think it's probably unnecessary - said Adam Bodnar on TVN24, when asked about President Andrzej Duda's statement about "making Poland 100% free of post-communist remnants." - Excuse me, but are these remnants, I don't know, 40-year-olds sitting in various Polish courts, who make rulings, who were educated in times of free Poland? Even, excuse me, if I were to look at President Andrzej Duda, he also received his education largely in the 90s, and it would be difficult to call people of his generation using such colorful adjectives - he continued. - Simply put, the President, as I understand it, uses various arguments to claim that everything he has authorized with his signature over the years should simply remain unchanged, and anyone who criticizes it, anyone who dares to refer to the opinions of international courts or the opinions of authorities [...] is criticized in this way - he went on to say.

20:24

Morawiecki:

Trzaskowski is Tusk's Second-in-Command

- Rafał Trzaskowski is Tusk's deputy, he is the vice-chairman of Civic Platform. In short, one could say he is 'viceTusk', a mini-Tusk. It is probably obvious that this is his man, that he is to complete this system, etc. - stated Mateusz Morawiecki on wPolsce24.

20:29

Morawiecki on Nawrocki:

It's Clear He Is the Hope.

- It's clear that he [Karol Nawrocki] is the hope, it's clear they've already started celebrating, that they will go as if it's theirs for the taking, for the presidency. Meanwhile, it's slipping through their fingers, that's why they are scheming, they will try to suggest that perhaps the Supreme Court won't be able to recognize the validity of the presidential elections - stated Mateusz Morawiecki on wPolsce24.

20:29

Bodnar:

There was a demand to enter the KRS, close its headquarters, and put padlocks on the doors. I do not agree to such methods.
- There was a demand from circles associated with Iustitia, to a certain extent, to enter the National Council of the Judiciary, to close its headquarters, you know, to put padlocks on the doors, etc. I do not agree to such methods. Simply put, I do not agree to these methods. I believe that changes in institutions of this type should be made step-by-step, evolutionarily - said Adam Bodnar on TVN24.

20:30

Nawrocki:

The Issue Isn't the Volhynia Massacre Monument in Domostawa, But the Barbaric Way Poles Were Murdered in Volhynia

- I have stated clearly, repeatedly, publicly, and I can repeat it here in Gdańsk, that it is not the artistry of master Pityński that is the problem with this monument [in Domostawa]. The problem we should address is the barbaric manner in which Poles were murdered during the Volhynian crime – stated Karol Nawrocki at a meeting with the residents of Gdańsk.

20:34

Bodnar on Romanowski's Conduct:

I'm Simply Sad.
- I'm simply sad, as a minister, as a citizen, that we have a person who held a very serious office, and a year after taking power, we are at a stage where we have to wonder where he is, where he is staying, where he has fled - said Adam Bodnar on TVN24. - What is Marshal Hołownia supposed to do in this situation? Can he, in this situation, consider Mr. Marcin Romanowski to still be a Member of Parliament? And how is he supposed to perform his duties if he is in hiding? It turns out there is no regulation on this matter at all, because no one foresaw such a situation - he continued. - I am simply sad from the perspective that we have brought our country to such a situation - he went on to say.

20:42

Bodnar:

Searches for Romanowski Will Likely Need to Be Extended to European Countries
- There may be other individuals who, either previously decided to reside in other countries, or have now decided that it's not worth facing justice - Adam Bodnar said on TVN24. - We have open borders, and no one will be stopped. If a citizen wants to travel to Germany or another country within the Schengen area, we have no means to prevent that citizen from leaving - he continued. - The police had various suspicions regarding different locations and, of course, conducted thorough checks to see if the individual [Marcin Romanowski] was present in those locations. If he had been, he would have been apprehended, but that did not happen, which is why the search area will likely need to be extended to European countries - he elaborated further.

20:44

Nowacka on Wieczorek: I Will Allow Myself Silence
- Point eight of the Council of Ministers' rules of procedure imposes on ministers the obligation not to speak critically of other ministers. Therefore, please allow me not to answer this question - said Barbara Nowacka in "Gość Wydarzeń" on Polsat News, when asked if Dariusz Wieczorek should resign. - Whistleblowers are subject to special protection, and Article eight of the Council of Ministers' rules of procedure imposes on ministers the obligation not to publicly criticize members of the government - she repeated. - I will allow myself silence - she added.
