- In our ministry, we operate in accordance with current procedures and applicable law. Consequently, all these documents and letters that are officially issued are, in our assessment, lawful - Dariusz Wieczorek stated at a press conference. The Minister of Science referred to reports by WP concerning the potential disclosure of data of a whistleblower who informed Wieczorek about irregularities at Szczecin University. - In this matter [...] we only received letters signed by the trade union chairwoman and endorsed by the trade union. [...] I will remind you that, according to applicable law, trade union chairpersons are granted statutory protection, meaning such a person cannot be dismissed, precisely so that even when raising all the most difficult issues, this person is not harassed in any way - he continued. - The letters and emails came from the university's official mailboxes, which is also a very important aspect of this. Therefore, when we consider all of this, we are not dealing with a whistleblower in this matter, especially since the whistleblower law has not yet entered into force, because the external whistleblower law only comes into effect in December - he indicated. As he emphasized: - In our assessment, we are not dealing with whistleblowers in this case, especially when we are talking about the trade union chairwoman, who by law can demand all explanations regarding the rector and the university authorities.
