Zgorzelski on Biden's Decision:

An Adequate Response.
This is an adequate response to what Putin and his colleagues from, as Anne Applebaum called it, the autocracy conglomerate, are doing, because it's no secret that the Russian army is being supplied by North Korean troops, and we cannot watch with impunity – stated Piotr Zgorzelski on TOK FM. The democratic, civilized world cannot watch with impunity what Putin is up to, because soon Russian troops will be not only near Warsaw, but perhaps near Paris, and this is not a rhetorical figure – he continued. I do not fear an escalation of the conflict, because autocracies like Russia's only yield to strength, to the argument of force – the Deputy Marshal of the Sejm added.

08:16

Zgorzelski on a Potential Joint Candidate:

This Matter Can Be Resolved in the First Round.

- Our priority, following Marshal Szymon Hołownia's announcement, is to support his candidacy, but at the same time, not to close off a proposal that is extraordinary, a proposal for difficult times, because perhaps if our colleagues from other democratic parties listen to our voice, this matter can be resolved in the first round. Truly, mobilization, just as it was a year ago, including by non-governmental organizations and civil society, can bring us victory - stated Piotr Zgorzelski on TOK FM.

08:16

Paprocka on Biden’s Decision:

It Fits with the Policy on Ukraine Pursued by President Duda from the Beginning.
- This is a breakthrough decision [by Joe Biden regarding allowing Ukraine to attack with US long-range weapons]. It absolutely fits with the policy that President Andrzej Duda has pursued from the very beginning of supporting Ukraine - said Małgorzata Paprocka in an interview with Marcin Fijołek on Polsat News’ “Graffiti”. - We will see what effects it brings. We see the Russian offensive, we see again the deaths of innocent civilian victims. The free world must respond to this - she added.

08:30

Paprocka on the Duda-Trump Meeting:

I Hope It Happens This Year.
- The conversation [between Andrzej Duda and Donald Trump, which took place on November 11th], in addition to its courteous aspect, offering wishes to Poles, thanking Poles, and congratulations from the President, primarily concerned arranging a meeting and discussing issues that are crucial for us – Małgorzata Paprocka stated on Polsat News's “Graffiti.” She enumerated: - Of course, peace in our part of Europe, but also issues related to the presidency, where one of the priorities is strengthening European Union-United States cooperation, further strengthening the Polish-American alliance, already on a bilateral basis, economic and military cooperation. But all of this can be discussed face-to-face. - It has been arranged, the matter of finalizing the date is pending. […] I hope it will be a matter of weeks. I hope [the meeting will happen this year] – she indicated.

08:39

Paprocka:

From the President's Perspective, Magierowski Remains the Ambassador to the USA
- Since the US elections, the President has clearly stated that this is the only moment to change the candidate for ambassador to the USA. Senator Klich […], looking at the information policy he conducted, to put it bluntly: what kind of tweets he wrote, is this really a person who should be ambassador in Washington today, with this future administration? – Małgorzata Paprocka said in Polsat News’s “Graffiti.” - Why complicate cooperation and why send such a person? This is the fundamental issue. This was truly the moment for the Prime Minister and Minister Sikorski to consider, if a change in this position is even to be discussed, because from a formal point of view and from the President's perspective, Marek Magierowski is still the ambassador to the USA – she emphasized.

08:50

Nothing About Ukraine Without Ukraine? Bocheński: I'd Prefer The Polish Prime Minister Said "Nothing About Ukraine Without Poland"
- Prime Minister Donald Tusk has been very erratic lately with his international tweets, because first he said that Chancellor Scholz reported something to him, and I dare to doubt that the Chancellor reports to him, and secondly, he said that the Chancellor [didn't] forget that nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine - said Tobiasz Bocheński in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on the program "Gość Radia ZET". - I would prefer the Polish prime minister to say "nothing about Ukraine without Poland", because he is the Polish prime minister and Poland is the linchpin of the eastern flank of NATO, it is the most important country in this part of Europe when it comes to eastern policy, and decisions about Eastern Europe should not be made without Poland - he continued.

08:51

Paprocka:

Government Disregards Constitutional Tribunal Rulings and Saves Money at the Expense of Pensioners
- The term of office for three judges is ending in just a few days. The Constitutional Tribunal absolutely should operate at full capacity, it should make rulings for the good of the citizens. We are currently facing an absolutely scandalous situation where, a few months ago, the Constitutional Tribunal ruled on the matter of disability pensions and old-age pensions […]. A favorable ruling, concerning the recalculation of pensions, has not been published. People are not receiving pension increases - said Małgorzata Paprocka on Polsat News's "Graffiti". - I am addressing this matter to the president of the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS), and I receive a dry, formal letter on the basis of: "You are welcome, the path is open, let pensioners submit applications, and we will consider them." Do pensioners in a democratic state really have to bear additional costs for legal assistance, for hiring an attorney, just to enforce a Constitutional Tribunal ruling? - she continued. - This is very convenient for today's authorities, it is an absolutely convenient argument: there is no Tribunal, we don't have to respect it, we are saving millions of zlotys at the expense of Polish pensioners - she stated.

08:56

PiS Candidate for President to be Announced This Saturday? Bocheński: Such a Scenario is Being Considered
- Certainly, this week a relevant political group, including Prime Minister Kaczyński, will convene to make this decision - said Tobiasz Bocheński on Radio ZET, when asked about the choice of the PiS candidate for president. - It is possible. I don't deny it, because I am not a member of that group - he continued, when asked if the party leadership would meet on Wednesday. - I think it depends first and foremost on Prime Minister Jarosław Kaczyński, but such a scenario is, I believe, being considered, because we are currently observing what is a pseudo-primary in Civic Platform, and it is an attempt to simply attract public attention - when pressed on when the candidate's announcement would take place, if the decision regarding his selection was made on Wednesday, would it be as early as Saturday.

09:05

Bocheński:

I'm in the Tight Pack Regarding Candidate Selection
- It seems to me that these surveys [regarding potential PiS presidential candidates] are already at the headquarters on Nowogrodzka Street - said Tobiasz Bocheński on Radio ZET. - That means, how can I put it, I am one of those people. I wanted to emphasize this fact, sometimes a little to spite some people, that in fact, even though I am a veteran of this race [...] I am still in the tight pack when it comes to the candidate selection - he continued, when asked about his words "rumors of my candidacy's demise are greatly exaggerated". - I don't know if I'm in the top two, I think there are more people, but yes, in the tight pack, which I think will reach the finish line this week - he went on to say, when pressed whether he and Karol Nawrocki were the top two potential candidates.

09:06

the Constitutional Tribunal:

There will be very serious doubts about the budget." Paprocka on the announcement of "starving
- “Starving” some constitutional bodies is simply an absolutely anti-democratic action. Am I the only one seeing it in a slightly broader context? Wouldn't a dispute with the president over the budget in the middle of a presidential campaign be convenient for the current government? - said Małgorzata Paprocka in “Graffiti” Polsat News. She continued: - Isn't this being done to present the argument: “Here you go, there are some alleged increases, funds for various payments, we are not paying several bodies – please, it's impossible to cooperate with the president, you have to choose ours”? - There will be very serious doubts. It's hard for me to imagine a budget where the Constitutional Tribunal receives 1 zł, or the National Council of the Judiciary receives a budget of one zloty - she stated. - I treat these statements by Minister Berek as a sort of finger-wagging, but I see the political context. The president cannot veto [the budget bill]; he can refer it to the Constitutional Tribunal. But I say: I think this is not about legal reasoning, but rather about constantly fueling the political conflict towards these bodies - she added.

09:11

Bocheński on Sikorski:

Unacceptable to the Right-Wing Electorate.
"Mr. Sikorski is absolutely unacceptable to Law and Justice and, contrary to what he has been claiming lately, is unacceptable to the right-wing electorate. He is a man who not only betrayed the right by leaving Law and Justice, but is also the author of the reset policy with Russia, and this will be remembered for a very long time. There is no possibility for people with conservative views to vote for this man," said Tobiasz Bocheński on Radio ZET.

09:12

Kierwiński:

Payout Process is Unsatisfactory and Will Accelerate

- Over PLN 300 million has been paid out to people, although I know this process is not sufficient. Last week, together with Minister Siemoniak, we spoke with the voivodes and they received clear instructions that the payout process must accelerate. […] This payout process is unsatisfactory and must be accelerated – stated Marcin Kierwiński on RMF FM.

- Yesterday, I was in Wrocław for that very purpose, to speed up the disbursement of funds, and it will be expedited. Yesterday, we transferred an additional PLN 100 million; over 1,000 people should receive benefits of up to PLN 200,000 in the coming hours – he added.

09:14

Kierwiński Announces Second Flood Act: "We Count on Its Swift Processing"

- For three weeks, these procedures have been continuously simplified to best expedite these payments. Meanwhile, with Minister Siemoniak and the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, we will introduce a second flood act, which will now be processed in the Sejm, likely incorporating solutions that will further accelerate this process. This means expanding the catalogue of individuals who can issue decisions in this regard. A relevant amendment has also been prepared to introduce an advance payment system as soon as the appropriate documents have been submitted – stated Marcin Kierwiński on RMF FM.

- We are counting on very swift processing of this flood act, as there are many important things in the law that we need to change. For example, the possibility of introducing one hundred percent subsidies for local government units for the reconstruction of infrastructure, because this reconstruction must commence – he continued.

09:16

Kierwiński on Aid for Entrepreneurs Affected by Floods:

These Funds Are Secured in the Budget

- When it comes to the money intended to support entrepreneurs, I can say one thing: it is secured in the budget. These applications are being submitted by entrepreneurs, and there are several paths to apply for these funds. There are funds coming from BGK, and soon the issue of European Funds will be launched – stated Marcin Kierwiński in RMF FM.

- A system of support for entrepreneurs, additional support for entrepreneurs, will be introduced using so-called repayable instruments. This is a system called a loan system, but the vast majority of these loans – 90% or 100% – are redeemable – he added.

09:26

Bocheński on Kierwiński and Aid for Flood Victims:

He's Talking Nonsense on This Matter.
- The Lower Silesian Voivode absolutely failed to live up to expectations. These kinds of benefits can usually be disbursed a few days after a flood, housing reconstruction benefits within a month, and what is happening now is a scandal and a huge dereliction of duty by politicians and officials in the Lower Silesia region - Tobiasz Bocheński stated on Radio ZET. - This is the nonsense of lazy people - he continued, responding to the assertion that officials are afraid to make decisions involving such large sums and to the words of Marcin Kierwiński that 'the remnants of the PiS era are unfortunately terrible' and that regulations should be changed. - Yes, on this matter, he is talking nonsense. This is the nonsense of people who do not know how to manage administration, do not know how to disburse funds, do not know how to conduct administrative proceedings, and shift their incompetence onto the shoulders of their predecessors - he elaborated, when pressed whether Marcin Kierwiński was talking nonsense.

09:28

Sikorski Presents First Priority:

Strength Deters, Weakness Provokes.

- Today I am presenting my priorities to you, because times have changed and Poland needs a statesman with a vision - Radosław Sikorski wrote on the X portal.

Priority 1 - security is paramount.

- Therefore, as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, I will support the building of a strong army, secure borders, and proven alliances. Strength deters, weakness provokes. These elections will be about security - emphasized the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

09:34

Bocheński on Migration:

What Tusk is Doing is Copying PiS Policy and Packaging it in the KO Logo.
- The document produced by the Council of Ministers, 20 pages long, is a joke, not an immigration strategy. What Donald Tusk is doing is copying the policy of Law and Justice and packaging it in the Civic Coalition logo - said Tobiasz Bocheński on Radio ZET.

09:40

Bocheński:

A Right-Wing Candidate Should Be a Right-Wing Aleksander Kwaśniewski
- My potential presidency, should the Polish people decide, would be distinctive and open. I often, to the chagrin of some on the right, say that a right-wing candidate should be a right-wing Aleksander Kwaśniewski - Tobiasz Bocheński stated on Radio ZET. - President Kwaśniewski held left-wing views, that is obvious, but he demonstrated great tact and the ability to converse with other politicians from different political options, and so too should be the president who is elected, and I hope it will be a president from Law and Justice - he continued. - Very defined, clear views, but also the ability to converse with others, rather than constant bickering - he went on to say.

09:46

Trzaskowski Writes a Letter to Civic Coalition Members:

We Need a Candidate Who Has Passed Real Electoral Tests

Rafał Trzaskowski has published a letter addressed to “friends from the Civic Coalition.” The Mayor of Warsaw is seeking the support of his party members in the presidential primaries, where he is competing with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Radosław Sikorski.

Although Trzaskowski does not directly mention his rival’s name, the content of the letter contains several clear references to Sikorski’s political biography.

- Today is the time to turn another page of history. Today is the time to win Poland for democracy once and for all! The most important battle lies ahead! - the politician emphasized.

As Trzaskowski stated, the stakes of the upcoming presidential elections are “not a simple victory” and “proving to ourselves that we are strong.” - Our goal is to change Poland, which this victory will enable: the prosperity of citizens, the restoration of the rule of law, the fulfillment of our electoral commitments to Polish women and men, and ensuring security – both at the state border and in every municipality - he writes.

„Not everyone can bear the weight of these elections”
- The stakes of these elections are therefore enormous. Not everyone can bear them - Trzaskowski emphasized.

The Deputy Leader of PO argues that he “can talk with leaders of other countries as well as listen to the concerns and hopes of Polish women and men.”

„An international career can be built in salons, but true trust is earned only on the streets of our cities, towns, and villages”
- I know that an international career can be built in salons, but true trust is earned only on the streets of our cities, towns, and villages. It is in local government that I learned humility - we read.

He added that he “can separate his convictions from the mission entrusted to him by the voters.” - I understand that the role of a modern state is not to linger in old divisions between left and right, but to create space for people with different views - he continues, assuring that he will always stand on the side of the weaker and “will never give up” the fight for women’s rights.

- I know what a state in a crisis situation is like. I have felt firsthand the challenge that pandemics or refugee crises pose to institutions, law, and procedures - he added, noting: - I can communicate with anyone, even political opponents, to seek ways out of crises and persuade them to joint action.

As he indicated: - For me, security is not only a strong army, but also an efficient police force, safe food, a well-functioning healthcare system, and protection against the effects of climate change.

„We need a candidate who has passed real electoral tests and cannot be provoked in any situation”
- We need a candidate who has passed real electoral tests. Who can remain calm and cannot be provoked in any situation - Trzaskowski pointed out.

According to the politician, “we need a president who has no complexes towards the world.” - A president who knows when words build and when they weaken the country’s reputation. A predictable president who possesses the knowledge, inner peace, and experience that will allow him to coolly analyze challenges. A president who knows how to build a Poland free from hatred and how to convince young people to link their future precisely with Poland - Trzaskowski summarizes his letter.

10:44

Sikorski Presents Two More Priorities:

Without Conservative Voters, We Won't Win the Second Round.
The President must unite diverse sensitivities. In May, we won't mobilize Poles to victory with anti-PiS emotion. We need a positive vision, language that transcends divisions, respect for tradition, and pride in what it means to be Polish in 2024. Without conservative voters, we won't win the second round - Radosław Sikorski wrote on social media, presenting priority number 2. The Minister of Foreign Affairs also published priority number 3: - The President must be effective and respected on the international stage. We will win the presidential elections and, together with Prime Minister Donald Tusk, we will build Poland's diplomatic power. We need strong leadership to ensure Poland's security.

11:16

"This Isn't Fair": Sawicki Accuses Commercial and Public Media of Promoting Civic Coalition

- We, the other side, after October 15th, are engaging not only public media but also commercial media in the promotion of one political party – stated Marek Sawicki in the program "Sedno sprawy" on Radio Plus.

- This is not fair, and I want to clearly emphasize that if you ask whether the city hall or the party pays for Rafał Trzaskowski's meetings, or whether the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the party pays for the meetings of Mr. Minister of Foreign Affairs Sikorski. Well, I'm asking questions – whether Platforma pays for the broadcasts on Polsat, TVN, and public television, or if these stations pay – the PSL politician continued to say.

11:17

Sawicki on Voivodes in Flood-Affected Areas:

It's High Time They Resigned.

- I don't know where this came from. Why have the voivodes insisted on releasing funds only after an authorized appraiser has completed a full assessment, so to speak? It's simply incomprehensible to me that officials have completely ignored a prime minister who made a clear, public commitment – Marek Sawicki said on Radio Plus.

- It's high time that these voivodes, instead of saying they will speed things up now, because I'm already hearing such information over the weekend after media outcry, simply resigned. It's clearly evident that they have simply failed to fulfill their duties properly – he added.

11:35

Błaszczak:

The Numbers Don't Lie, 5% Year-on-Year Inflation is the Tusk Government's Achievement
- The numbers don't lie, because when we look at the CSO's (Central Statistical Office) statement concerning the increase in inflation, 5% inflation year-on-year is the achievement of Donald Tusk's government [...] when we look at the same statement and see that the cost of living for households, due to the energy price increase, has risen by almost 10%, yes, the numbers don't lie - Mariusz Błaszczak said at a press conference. - Indeed, this is the effect, the result of Donald Tusk's poor governance, it is the result of the fact that the December 13th coalition government increased VAT on food from 0% to 5%, it is the result of the fact that Donald Tusk's government, the December 13th coalition government, abolished the energy shield - he continued.

11:41

Błaszczak on Support for Rebuilding Homes After Floods:

This Means One Family Will Get PLN 100,000, Not PLN 200,000.
- The number we are emphasizing today is zero. That's exactly how much flood victims from Kłodzko have received in payouts. Only after media intervention yesterday did the Lower Silesian Voivode state that in Kłodzko, 1,000 families received benefits amounting to PLN 8,000, but he also stated that out of this thousand, only 100 families will receive benefits [...] for rebuilding homes - said Mariusz Błaszczak at a press conference. - The Lower Silesian Voivode stated that the amount of this benefit will be [...] PLN 10 million. [...] This means one family, how much will they get? PLN 100,000. Not PLN 200,000 - he continued.

11:46

"They Are Both the Same, Primarily Emphasizing How Much They Dislike PiS'. Błaszczak on Sikorski and Trzaskowski
- Both candidates are the same, both candidates in their appearances primarily emphasize how much they dislike Law and Justice, I think this is a dead end. In this way, they only harden their core electorate, and that is not enough, because when we look at the polls, Civic Platform does not receive a bonus for governing - said Mariusz Błaszczak at a press conference, asked who would be a more difficult candidate for PiS: Radosław Sikorski or Rafał Trzaskowski.

11:50

Błaszczak:

Christmas Eve Should Be a Day Off Work, and It Will Certainly Not Negatively Impact Economic Development
- Christmas Eve should be a day off work, and it will certainly not negatively impact the economic development of our country. What negatively impacts Poland's economic development is the coalition of December 13th, of which Ryszard Petru is a part - said Mariusz Błaszczak at a press conference.

12:08

"The situation is developing rapidly at the moment." Duda on Biden’s "much-needed" decision and "perhaps a turning point"
This is a very important change that is currently happening [in the USA]. Following President Biden's decision, France and Great Britain have made decisions to the same extent, so the situation is developing rapidly at the moment. In general, I received President Biden's and our allies' decision with satisfaction, because I believe that Ukraine should have the means of defense to push back the Russian rear, so that it is not so close to the front, especially in a situation where the Russians are inviting their allies to participate on their side – stated President Andrzej Duda before flying to Jordan. - This decision by President Biden was much needed and it's good that it was issued – he continued. - This is a very important, perhaps even a turning point in this war – emphasized PAD.

12:16

Duda on Scholz's Actions:

It's Hard to See It as Anything Other Than Absolutely Bizarre.

“I think this is Chancellor Scholz’s unilateral action. Germany, as the German press also indicates, the Chancellery, the Chancellor, are perhaps looking for opportunities to reach an understanding with Russia, in order to return to energy contracts, to be able to buy energy raw materials from Russia again,” stated President Andrzej Duda before departing for Jordan.

“What does this mean for us? Probably an attempt to restore the Nord Stream gas pipeline’s functionality, to once again bring energy danger upon our part of Europe, upon Ukraine, upon Slovakia, upon Poland. These are actions against which we have protested for years, and today, what is happening is hard to see as anything other than absolutely bizarre,” PAD continued.

13:00

Sikorski Presents Priorities on Partnership Unions and Abortion:

I Will Fight for Dignity for All.
- As president, I will fight for dignity for all. Partnership unions and safe abortion are matters of respect, not ideology - Radosław Sikorski wrote on Twitter, thus announcing the fourth priority related to the presidential elections. The other priorities announced so far concerned security, as well as rebuilding national community and a strong voice for Poland on the international stage.

13:12

Tusk Announces Presidential Poll Results:

Clear, but Still Just a Pointer.
- Rafał Trzaskowski defeats the PiS candidate in the first round 40 to 28, and in the second 57 to 43. Radek Sikorski loses in the first round to the PiS candidate 28 to 30, but wins in the second 54 to 46 - Prime Minister Donald Tusk wrote on X. - The poll result is clear, but it is still just a pointer. Your vote holds the power of decision! - emphasized the KO leader.

13:44

Elections are won in the second round. We're neck and neck. Sikorski comments on presidential poll results
- Elections are won in the second round. I am happy with both Rafał Trzaskowski's result and the fact that after a week of pre-campaigning, we are neck and neck. There are 6 months until the elections, it will be a brutal campaign, but the momentum is on our side! - Radosław Sikorski wrote on Twitter, referring to the presidential poll results, which Prime Minister Donald Tusk had published a moment earlier.

14:27

Tomczyk on Presidential Poll Results:

If You Don't Win the First Round, the Second Round Dynamic Can Be a Disaster.
"If you don't win the first round, the dynamic in the second round can be a disaster... It's good that both candidates have a polling advantage in the second round, however, Rafał Trzaskowski's lead is crushing. In the second round, a 14% difference between Rafał Trzaskowski and the PiS candidate. And 8% when Radosław Sikorski runs" - wrote Cezary Tomczyk on Twitter, referring to the presidential poll results, which were published by Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

In the further part of his post, Cezary Tomczyk wrote that Rafał Trzaskowski wins in every electorate: left-wing, centrist, right-wing, and among the undecided.

"Now the decision is in your hands" - he concluded his post.

14:28

Sikorski:

The Momentum is Very Strong and Gives Me Satisfaction

- Elections are won in the second round, and it's a tremendous satisfaction that every KO candidate wins against every candidate from today's opposition. The poll was conducted even before the primary campaign, so it's also a personal satisfaction that after a few days of undeclared campaigning, I am neck and neck with a candidate who has been functioning as such for 5 years. So the momentum is very strong and gives me satisfaction - stated Radosław Sikorski in a conversation with journalists in Brussels.

14:33

Trzaskowski Comments on Civic Coalition Poll:

A Clear Indication.

- We have the long-awaited, reliable poll commissioned by Civic Coalition. And with it, a clear indication of who has a better chance in next year's elections - Rafał Trzaskowski wrote on social media.

- Victory in the second round, victory across all voter groups (crushing among the undecided). A huge advantage already from the first round, which will give momentum to the second round - emphasized the Mayor of Warsaw.

14:51

41% vs 26%. Tomczyk on KO Poll Regarding Support Ceilings for Trzaskowski and Sikorski

Cezary Tomczyk has published a fragment of a presidential poll for KO, focusing on candidates' electoral potential. As we read:

41% of all Poles would consider casting a vote for Rafał Trzaskowski in a presidential election. For Radosław Sikorski, this figure stands at 26%.

It can be estimated that Rafał Trzaskowski's current electoral potential is approximately 12.1 million votes, while Radosław Sikorski's is around 7.7 million votes.

According to the survey, a PiS candidate is positioned between Trzaskowski and Sikorski with a result of 33%.

15:45

Kalisz:

National Electoral Commission Adopts Guiding Resolution on Neo-Judges - We Do Not Recognize Their Rulings
- Today, we adopted several dozen resolutions because we were reviewing the financial statements of political parties for 2023. The adoption of these resolutions was preceded by one guiding resolution concerning judges appointed by the neo-KRS after 2017 - Ryszard Kalisz told journalists in front of the National Electoral Commission (PKW) headquarters. He further stated: - The PKW adopted a guiding resolution, indicating that we do not recognize, in particular, rulings issued by such judges, meaning individuals who sit particularly in the Supreme Court and were appointed by the neo-KRS after that year. - The first [part of the resolution] is an appeal to state authorities, especially to the Sejm, to end the legal and constitutional chaos we have in Poland related to neo-judges. The second part states that the PKW will not recognize any rulings of individuals who are not judges - he explained.

15:56

National Electoral Commission Rejects Law and Justice Party's Report. Kalisz: Appeal Must Be Decided by Supreme Court Justices Appointed in Accordance with the Constitution
- Of course, we did not accept one report [...] due to the previous resolution from the end of August this year, namely the report of the political party Law and Justice - said Ryszard Kalisz in a conversation with journalists in front of the National Electoral Commission (PKW) headquarters. - The vote breakdown there was predictable, meaning 5 were for rejection, 4 against - he stated. - PiS, its report, meaning the issue of subsidies [...], has now been settled by the National Electoral Commission through a resolution. [...] An appeal against this resolution to the Supreme Court is possible within 7 days, but due to the earlier resolution that the National Electoral Commission adopted today, it must be decided by the Supreme Court composed of judges who are judges appointed in accordance with the constitution - he emphasized, referring to his earlier statements.

16:20

Kalisz on the Supreme Court’s Extraordinary Control Chamber:

Unable to Issue a Ruling Recognized by the National Electoral Commission.
- If the chamber includes judges or individuals appointed as Supreme Court judges after 2017, then for us, these are non-existent resolutions or rulings. And as you know, only such judges are in the composition of the Extraordinary Control and Public Affairs Chamber - Ryszard Kalisz told journalists in front of the National Electoral Commission (PKW) headquarters. - One can conclude that this chamber is unable to issue a ruling that would be recognized by the National Electoral Commission - he emphasized.

16:24

Kalisz:

PiS Has 7 Days to Appeal to the Supreme Court, Not the Extraordinary Control and Public Affairs Chamber
- [PiS] has seven days to appeal to the Supreme Court. I emphasize very clearly: to the Supreme Court, and not to that Extraordinary Control and Public Affairs Chamber - said Ryszard Kalisz in a conversation with journalists in front of the National Electoral Commission (PKW) headquarters.

16:57

Marciniak on the NEC's resolution concerning so-called neo-judges:

The National Electoral Commission is not authorized to make decisions in this regard.
The first point concerned the National Electoral Commission's stance towards judges appointed after 2018. I must admit, I was in favor of not adopting such a position, because it is not a resolution, it is not a ruling. Certainly, the National Electoral Commission is not authorized to make decisions in this regard, because we operate only within the boundaries of the law and in accordance with the law – stated Sylwester Marciniak in an interview with journalists. We are in a difficult situation, because we must bear in mind that next year, in accordance with the constitution and the Electoral Code, presidential elections are to be held, in which the Supreme Court plays a significant role. This is because any decision, any resolution of the National Electoral Commission, allows an aggrieved party the right to lodge a complaint with the Supreme Court – he continued.

16:59

Marciniak Explains He Favored Postponing the Decision on Subsidies for PiS:

My Motion Didn't Gain a Majority.

- My motion, precisely for the postponement of the National Election Commission's (PKW) decision regarding subsidies for the party that appealed the PKW's resolution from the end of August concerning the rejection of the election committee's report, did not gain a majority. I believed that this type of action, given media reports that such a ruling will be issued by the Supreme Court next week, creates a procedural premise for suspending the proceedings – Sylwester Marciniak told journalists.

Morawiecki on the National Election Commission's Decision:

Unprecedented Attack on the Foundations of Democracy.

- Today's decision by the National Election Commission (PKW) to reject the financial report of PiS is an unprecedented attack on the foundations of democracy. The PKW, which should stand guard over the transparency and objectivity of the electoral process, is becoming a tool of political struggle - wrote Mateusz Morawiecki on social media.

Macierewicz to Have Order of the White Eagle Revoked on First Day of Presidency, Sikorski Outlines Further Priorities

Radosław Sikorski has published two more priorities (No. 5 and 6) related to the presidential elections. Priority five concerns being the guardian of the Constitution, and priority six focuses on energy security.

- For years, we have fought together in defense of the rule of law. The Office of the President will regain its solemnity, symbolized by the revocation of the Order of the White Eagle from Antoni Macierewicz on the first day of the presidency - Radosław Sikorski wrote on Twitter.

- These elections will be about security, including energy security. Alternative energy sources, including Polish windmills in the Baltic Sea, are a way to achieve cheap and clean energy. We will achieve energy independence through a just and beneficial transformation - the Civic Coalition (KO) primary candidate stated in another post.

Sikorski:

I hope Duda will be more influential with his friend Trump than PiS has been with Orban so far
Unfortunately, today I cannot inform you that the European Peace Facility has been unblocked, because it is still vetoed by the Hungarian side, despite the fact that a mechanism has been created whereby Hungarian money would not have to go towards aid for Ukraine. I would like to understand the reasons why Hungary does not want to help the fighting Ukraine and wants to favour the aggressor in this conflict - stated Radosław Sikorski in a conversation with journalists in Brussels. - I have previously appealed to our opposition to persuade their political partners, Prime Minister Orban and the Fidesz party, to change their stance and unblock this fund, from which Poland is entitled to PLN 2 billion for the modernization of the Polish Army. I hope that President Duda will be more influential with his friend Donald Trump than PiS has been with Viktor Orban so far - the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs continued.

Mentzen:

These Elections Are Not Decided Yet, Anything Can Still Happen

- In a poll commissioned by Civic Platform, I received 15% with Rafał Trzaskowski and 16% if Radosław Sikorski were to run! The campaign is just beginning, and no one can be sure how it will end. I will do everything to seize my chance. These elections are not decided yet, and anything can still happen - Sławomir Mentzen wrote on social media.

- We are fighting an exceptionally unequal battle with the candidates of the largest parties. Our opponents are supported by State Treasury companies, large international corporations, and the biggest media outlets. My campaign budget is many times smaller than theirs, which is why I need your support to be able to implement changes that will lead to us living in a strong and wealthy Poland - emphasized the Confederation's presidential candidate.

Trzaskowski:

We Know the Second Round Will Be Close

- We have had results for many months showing my decisive advantage. Radek Sikorski always said he wanted these in-depth polls from KO. He was also counting on some change after the US elections, because he wanted these polls to take place a week after the US elections. There was no change, it's clear that these trends are exactly the same. Therefore, it confirms what we have been saying for many months, that indeed I have much better ratings when it comes to the polls we conduct - stated Rafał Trzaskowski on TVN24's "Fakty po faktach" (Facts after Facts).

- We all know that this second round will be a very close one - he continued, responding to Radosław Sikorski's words.

19:40

Trzaskowski on the poll:

It's crushing.

- Please also look at all these voter groups, because I am winning among KO voters, centrist, and also left-wing, conservative voters, and also among undecided voters. It is clear that this poll is crushing, and this is exactly what we expected - stated Rafał Trzaskowski in "Fakty po faktach" on TVN24.

19:40

Trzaskowski:

Sikorski Cannot Accept an Objective Poll

- Radosław Sikorski has been telling us all along that he would like a thorough poll to be conducted after the US elections. He has been leading this pre-campaign for many weeks, he started much earlier than me. We did exactly as Radosław Sikorski wanted. The poll at precisely the moment he wanted, and I decided on preliminary elections, which was perhaps a surprise to everyone - stated Rafał Trzaskowski in TVN24's "Fakty po faktach".

- I did really everything that Radek Sikorski wanted, and Radek cannot come to terms with this objective poll. That surprises me - he continued.

19:43

Trzaskowski:

Sikorski's supporters campaigning for him won't even vote, as they aren't in Civic Coalition

- Interestingly, Radosław Sikorski's supporters, people who won't even vote in these primaries because they aren't even in Civic Coalition, are the ones campaigning. They claimed Radosław Sikorski would win among conservative and centrist voters, which turned out to be untrue - stated Rafał Trzaskowski on TVN24's "Fakty po faktach" (Facts after Facts).

19:50

Trzaskowski:

I Don't Lack Toughness

- Sometimes I hear from people outside of Civic Platform (PO) who are trying to steer this pre-campaign, that I am not determined. Someone is imputing to me that I'm not tough? Of course, I'm talking about the real tests - stated Rafał Trzaskowski on TVN24's "Fakty po faktach".

- I am not referring to Radosław Sikorski, I am referring to the arguments that these people are bringing up, saying that I am not tough. Well, I smile, what could be tougher than 8 years with PiS's propaganda and lies apparatus - he continued.

- I don't like talking about myself, I mainly meet with people because I believe that politics is made among people, not in salons and on television. However, at this moment, when everyone is talking about themselves, it's hard not to refer to that and not talk about my own strengths. If I hear arguments from politicians of the Polish People's Party (PSL) or politicians who are not in the Civic Coalition (KO) that I lack toughness. Truly, I don't lack toughness - added the Mayor of Warsaw.

19:51

Trzaskowski:

I am an Independent Politician

- I would like to distinguish myself from Andrzej Duda in everything. The simplest question, the simplest answer. Because the most important thing is independence. I am an independent politician, and today I am also showing that I am ready to turn to all my colleagues in the party and place myself in their hands - stated Rafał Trzaskowski on TVN24's "Fakty po faktach" (Facts after Facts).

20:33

Komorowski:

Primaries Will Help PO, Regardless of Their Outcome
[Primaries] They will help because, regardless of their outcome, whoever the candidate wins, well, I would say, I am a bit surprised it's only for a week and not for three weeks, but still, public opinion has largely been engaged with the PO primaries – stated Bronisław Komorowski on the program "Gość Wydarzeń" on Polsat News.

20:33

Komorowski:

Sikorski Might Have a Chance to Attract Confederation Voters

- In the second round, I think he might also have some chance to attract some voters, for example, even from the Confederation. In these libertarian groups, whose voters think in terms of the free market, I get the impression here, though I have no knowledge of this, that Sikorski might be more credible because he behaves more in a free-market manner – stated Bronisław Komorowski on Polsat News.

20:34

Trzaskowski Doesn't Exactly Have the Edge; Both Are Battling an Unknown PiS Candidate, Komorowski Comments on PO Poll Before Primaries

- As far as I've seen these [poll] results, I've watched them, well, I don't really see it that way. It doesn't reflect the Trzaskowski-Sikorski competition, but rather who wins against the PiS candidate – Bronisław Komorowski said on Polsat News.

- Not exactly [does Trzaskowski have the edge], because please note that he wins against a still unknown PiS candidate, and that could be very significant for the final result. Both of them win, but in the first case, Trzaskowski achieves a better result than Sikorski, but either way, a second round is necessary in each of these variants – he continued.
