Duda Summarizes NBH Meeting:
Above All, We Discussed the Tragic Death of a Soldier Who Fell in the Line of Duty.
- A few hours ago, we held [...] the National Security Council. We discussed the most important aspects related to the security of the Republic of Poland, as well as the situations and tragic events that have occurred recently in our homeland. Above all, we discussed the unfortunately tragic death of one of our soldiers, who fell in the line of duty defending the Polish border. We also discussed situations that took place a few months ago at the border directly related to its protection, which led to intervention by both the Military Police and actions by the prosecutor's office - said President Andrzej Duda in a statement after meeting with soldiers.
- Here on site, in one of the bases [...] of the military task force, I also spoke with representatives of the Military Police and the command. We discussed this situation very calmly; it requires clarification. I just want to signal to you that, as the Minister of National Defense, Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, said today, none of the soldiers who were detained by the Military Police, nor their defenders, have filed any complaint against the actions of the Military Police - he continued.
- Since I have held the office of President, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, the issue of whether a Polish soldier has the ability to serve, to perform their duties safely, so that they can return home peacefully from service, from completing their tasks, has been of fundamental importance to me. [...] I said today that Poland must make every effort, the Polish state should deploy all its capabilities to ensure that the perpetrator, the perpetrator of this murder, is caught, detained, and duly punished. This is a matter of our Polish raison d'état - he went on to say.
- We also discussed, ladies and gentlemen, a bill that is intended to address the shortcomings that currently exist in our soldiers' ability to act, also concerning safety, also concerning equipment, also concerning the possibilities for them to use means that ensure their safety and the ability to repel an attack. [...] Legislative solutions will also be proposed in this regard in the near future - he added.
