Buzek on Tusk and Duda's Visit: Recognition of Poland's Role in NATO

- This is, on the one hand, a recognition of Poland's role in NATO, which is key today, everyone feels that, and President Biden wants to simply show it, because it is the main route for sending aid to Ukraine, but also this unity of political forces in Poland regarding aid to Ukraine is extremely important - stated Jerzy Buzek in "Rozmowa Piaseckiego" on TVN24.

07:53

Buzek:

Russian troops in the Kaliningrad Oblast. We are directly threatened. Biden also sees this.

- There is also an element there, in my opinion, showing that Poland is in a difficult situation, a situation of particular threat, and that Poland certainly has great responsibilities here to inform the whole world, especially Europe, to mobilize, because you are the apple of NATO's eye. Of course, the Baltic states and Slovakia are also threatened, but let's be honest, a 40-million-strong country threatened, especially since we have a direct border with Russia in the Kaliningrad Oblast. It's not that we don't have a border, and there are Russian troops in the Kaliningrad Oblast. We are truly directly threatened. Biden also sees this - stated Jerzy Buzek in "Rozmowa Piaseckiego" on TVN24.

Kobosko on Tusk and Duda's Visit: It Shows America Wants to Cooperate with Any Polish Government
- Indeed, this threat is the most serious today, certainly the most serious since the end of the Cold War, the 1980s. Russia is arming itself, Russia has attacked Ukraine, Russia does not hide its ambitions to rebuild a sphere of influence in Central and Eastern Europe, and we were once part of it - said Michał Kobosko in an interview with Grzegorz Kępka on Polsat News' "Graffiti". - Today's meeting, apart from its anniversary aspect, as the US President is meeting with representatives of two political camps in Poland simultaneously. This is certainly a gesture, a symbol, but it also has practical significance – showing that America wants to cooperate with any Polish government, but above all, it wants there to be agreement in Poland above political divisions on security matters - he continued.

08:35

Kobosko:

It would be rational and logical for the President to consult such a far-reaching idea as 3% of GDP for defense among NATO members before announcing it
- I personally heard President Duda's proposal for the first time yesterday [that NATO countries should increase their defense spending from 2% to 3% of GDP]. Judging by the reaction of government members, it doesn't seem to have been agreed upon - said Michał Kobosko in "Graffiti" on Polsat News. - One could say that it wasn't necessary on one hand, but on the other hand, it seems to me that it would have been quite rational and logical for the President to consult such a far-reaching idea before its public announcement, because it is a far-reaching idea - he continued. - We are talking about gigantic sums, tens of billions of euros and dollars. We are talking about a situation where many members of the North Atlantic Alliance do not meet the 2% of GDP condition today, which we all agreed upon. […] First, let's do everything to ensure that all NATO countries, all significant armies that co-create NATO, reach this 2% of GDP level. 3% is not very realistic at the moment - he assessed.

08:48

Kosiniak-Kamysz:

Yesterday we had a report, more people want to join the Polish army than in recent years

- Yesterday we had a report, more people want to join the Polish army than in recent years, and 100 percent since 1989. In the first 10 days of March alone, over a thousand people have registered for voluntary basic military service. We are capable of defending every inch of the Republic of Poland, as our allied commitment also assumes, and we will support all our allies. Let's remember that the desire to receive support under Article 5 concerns supportive actions, but also active ones on our part, when we have to support others - stated Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on the program "Gość Radia Zet".

08:48

Kobosko:

There are no such things as Presidential Diplomatic Missions – They are Missions of the Republic of Poland
- There is no such thing as Presidential Diplomatic Missions. This needs to be clearly stated. These are diplomatic missions of the Republic of Poland - said Michał Kobosko on Polsat News's "Graffiti". - We hear that the President is counting on individuals, particularly those who worked with him together in the Presidential Chancellery and now hold positions in these missions, to have continued opportunities to pursue their assignments. This is a matter of discussions between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the government, and the presidential office - he continued. - One thing is certain – a significant portion of Polish ambassadors needs to be replaced. We know how appointments were made within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, how it was in the embassies. Unfortunately, it was no different than in the case of State Treasury companies and many other areas of public life in Poland, where PiS appointed individuals who lacked competence, were unfamiliar with their roles, and, for example, in the case of ambassadors, did not speak the languages of the countries to which they were assigned - he went on.

08:49

Kosiniak-Kamysz:

Joint trip by President and Prime Minister - Poland's security is an absolute raison d'état

- A joint trip by the President and the Prime Minister, where we often disagree on many issues, but Poland's security is an absolute raison d'état. Political cooperation transcends this. This is the first signal for the public opinion in Poland - stated Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz in the program "Gość Radia Zet".

08:56

Kobosko:

I am convinced that standards in Poland 2050 are maintained, that the Gomoła case is an isolated incident
- I am saddened by this situation. Adam Gomoła was a very promising young politician from our perspective - said Michał Kobosko in "Graffiti" Polsat News. - He is still a Member of Parliament, but due to what he said - we don't know if what he did [...] because what he said was not necessarily consistent with what actually happened - but based on our quickly conducted proceedings, because we decided to act very quickly in this matter, the accusations were very serious, he is no longer a member of our parliamentary club and our party - he recalled. - I am convinced that the standards in our party are maintained, that this is an isolated incident - he declared.

08:59

Kosiniak-Kamysz on CPK: I am for the investment, for the vision

- I am for the investment, for the vision. However, we need to know how to do it wisely. We also have 3 airports within the Warsaw agglomeration: Modlin, Okęcie, and Radom, which is currently completely underutilized. It can be used for military purposes, and I will submit such a proposal. There are airports near the border areas that are very much needed for us to be able to conduct operations of a military nature - stated Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz on the program "Gość Radia Zet".

09:08

Kosiniak-Kamysz:

We Must Consider Every Scenario. The Desire to Recreate the Influence of the Former USSR is Part of an Ongoing Strategy

- We must consider every scenario. Imperialist ambitions and the desire to recreate the influence of the former USSR are part of a strategy that has been present for many, many years – stated Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz on the program “Gość Radia Zet”.

Ministry of Finance: Zero VAT Rate on Food Will Not Be Extended
- In connection with the latest inflation readings and forecasts for the price dynamics of basic food products subject to the temporary 0% VAT rate, the Ministry of Finance has decided not to extend the temporary reduction of the VAT rate on basic food products after March 31, 2024 - the Ministry of Finance announced in a statement. - The reduced VAT rate on basic food products has been in effect since February 1, 2022. It was introduced when the inflation reading for January 2022 was 9.2% (year-on-year). According to preliminary data from the Central Statistical Office (GUS), inflation in January this year fell to 3.9% (year-on-year), which was the lowest rate of consumer price growth in this regard since March 2021. The annual rate of price growth for food and non-alcoholic beverages also clearly decreased – to 4.9% in January this year (i.e., the lowest since September 2021) - it was written. - It is estimated that in February and March this year, both inflation (year-on-year) and the rate of food price growth (year-on-year) will continue on a downward trend. Lower food price dynamics will be favored by declining trends in prices on global agricultural markets, as well as a strong base effect resulting from the high growth of food prices a year ago - it was stated.

10:07

Bodnar:

Without Legislative Changes, Certain Things Cannot Be Completed

I think the judicial community has perhaps calmed down a bit, meaning they understand that the logic I proposed, which is to bring about changes that are achievable, effective, and bring about real change, especially in the functioning of courts or disciplinary proceedings, is the right path. However, we all realize that without legislative changes, certain things cannot be completed. We can undertake various protective, supportive, and staffing measures. But ultimately, it is very important whether the law that reforms either the National Council of the Judiciary, the Constitutional Tribunal, or the Supreme Court will be signed by the president – stated Adam Bodnar on TVP Info.

10:08

Bodnar on Sejm Resolution on the Constitutional Tribunal: For Me, This Means as Prosecutor General I Should No Longer Participate in Proceedings Before the Tribunal

- I think that the recipients of this [Sejm] resolution are not only the judges of the Constitutional Tribunal. Of course, it would be wonderful if they recognized that there is no point in serving in this body, which is assessed in such a way by the parliamentary majority. But it is also assessed that way by the majority of society, because if we look at various public opinion polls, we see that the Constitutional Tribunal does not enjoy any special respect. However, I would draw attention to the part of the resolution concerning the Constitutional Tribunal, which speaks about the various behaviors of public authorities. For example, for me, this resolution means that as Prosecutor General, I should no longer participate in proceedings before the tribunal, because it simply makes no greater sense – said Adam Bodnar on TVP Info.

- We cannot [treat the Constitutional Tribunal] this body seriously, as a real Constitutional Tribunal, a real constitutional court guarding the constitution, but simply as a body that performs some various, vaguely defined, purely political tasks – he added.

10:09

Bodnar:

Through Cooperation with Prosecutors, I Want to Restore Dignity to Their Profession

- I know that the current situation is such that the prosecution is actually performing better and better. I would also like to emphasize my will. My will is, and I stressed this in Szczecin [at a meeting with prosecutors], that through cooperation with prosecutors, I want to restore dignity to their profession. This means that they should not be individuals who are carrying out tasks of a political nature somewhere, but that they should actually stand guard over the rule of law and prosecute criminals – said Adam Bodnar on TVP Info.

10:46

Żukowska:

No Agreement on Sending Polish Soldiers to Ukraine, It's Not a Topic of Discussion
- There will be no such situation [of sending Polish soldiers to Ukraine], because there was, of course, a discussion about how to understand President Macron's declaration, but it was not well received, and I'm not just talking about the National Security Council here, but also about the leaders of other countries. There is no agreement on such a move, [...] it is not something that constitutes an element of any discussion – stated Anna Maria Żukowska in an interview with Jacek Prusinowski on the program "Sedno sprawy" on Radio Plus.

10:50

Żukowska:

If Hołownia Keeps His Word on Abortion Bills, I Will Retract and Apologize for My Post
- Everyone is responsible for their decisions, leaders, including myself as the club leader, therefore I take responsibility for this. And as I declared, if Mr. Speaker actually keeps his word – for the umpteenth time given, but I won't bring that up – this word that he gave for the last time, on April 11th, then I will retract, then I will apologize for it [the post addressed to Szymon Hołownia]. It is truly an expression not of my anger, but it refers to those protests and those slogans that appeared then, and they are still present, the emotion is still there. Because still nothing is happening, there is still a feeling that these 30 years are passing, passing, passing, there is no will to speed this up, to finally deal with it – said Anna Maria Żukowska on Radio Plus.

11:01

Kwiatkowski:

The so-called judicial part of the KRS, and in practice PiS's political representation, usurps the right to make decisions on behalf of the entire KRS
- The regulations governing the work of the KRS clearly and explicitly state: teams work with the participation of the non-judicial part of the KRS as well. These are MPs and Senators who represent the legislative branch. Following frequent changes to the times of team meetings, after being provided with only a general agenda for KRS meetings, without specifying on which day and at what time the KRS will address a particular item, and with items being added by surprise just before voting, another Rubicon was crossed yesterday - said Krzysztof Kwiatkowski at a press conference. - Yesterday, KRS teams – not just one, but several teams – worked without the participation of parliamentarians. The so-called judicial part of the KRS, and in practice PiS's political representation, which was appointed here, [...] is usurping the right to make decisions on behalf of the entire KRS - he continued.

11:15

Kosiniak-Kamysz:

Talks with the Ukrainian Side Held Yesterday
We also discussed farmers' issues and their demands [during the government meeting]. Minister Siekierski presented a report on the meetings he is conducting. Prime Minister Tusk, Minister Hetman, and the entire team also participated in talks with the Ukrainian side last Saturday. There are still issues to be resolved, bilateral agreements, but the work is proceeding with great intensity. I believe that this bilateral agreement is possible, as are changes to the Green Deal - stated Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz at a press briefing.

11:18

Kosiniak-Kamysz:

Wojciechowski's Stance Unacceptable, Insulting to Polish Farmers
Janusz Wojciechowski proposed something completely indecent in this regard a few days ago. He said that every farmer can reject the Green Deal, as long as they don't apply for direct payments. This stance is unacceptable, insulting to Polish farmers, demeaning. This is not how a Commissioner for Agriculture should act; they should resolve the issue they've messed up, not handle it in a way that makes them a 'helpful uncle' - stated Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz at a press briefing.

11:25

Kosiniak-Kamysz:

We Do Not Intend to Build a New Oligarchy in Ukraine. We Expect Partnership in the Economy and Equal Competition

- There must be understanding from Ukraine, because we do not intend to build a new oligarchy in Ukraine. Humanitarian aid, yes, military aid, absolutely yes, and farmers understand this very well and emphasized it at many meetings that this is always a priority for them, but from the Ukrainian side, we expect partnership in the economy and equal competition, not competition that puts Polish farmers and consumers in a worse position - stated Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz at a press briefing.

12:42

Hołownia:

Poland is not only in NATO, but is NATO

- Because Poland, and this is something that always needs to be pointed out, is not only in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, but it is the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. We are all its citizens, the citizens of the Republic, striving for the security of our country wherever the area of our responsibility lies. But you are also all its soldiers, who every day give their health, their time, sometimes their lives so that we can be strong and safe together – stated Szymon Hołownia during the celebrations marking the 25th anniversary of Poland's membership in NATO in Warsaw.

12:43

Hołownia:

I Want to Believe We Will Pass This Difficult Exam, Placed Before Our Nation, Without Any Doubt

- We know today what a great effort the Republic of Poland is making to have an army sufficiently well-equipped, even better than sufficiently well-equipped, and all of us, ready to serve when the necessity arises. I would very much like to believe that this difficult exam, the most difficult in decades, which has been placed before our proud and heroic nation, we will pass without any doubt. I am convinced that we will pass it without any doubt, and that we will do what seems most important today, that we will become people of peace in wartime – said Szymon Hołownia during the celebrations marking the 25th anniversary of Poland's membership in NATO in Warsaw.

12:59

Czarzasty:

If the Left Wins One or Two Seats, Democratic Parties Will Certainly Lead in Lubelszczyzna

- I want to state very firmly that if the Left wins one or two seats, we will of course fight for as many as possible, but democratic parties will certainly lead in Lubelszczyzna. This is a very important matter and an important message that I wanted to present to you. If the Left secures seats in the regional assembly, PiS will cease to govern in that voivodeship – stated Włodzimierz Czarzasty at a Left press conference.

13:05

Kaczyński on Tusk and Duda's US Visit: A Formula Beyond Normal Procedures. Perhaps the Threat Situation Caused It

- Regarding this visit [of the Prime Minister and the President to the USA], the formula is specific, unprecedented. That is, once my late brother was offered such a formula, but he refused to talk in this kind of format. With Tusk. It was just before April 10, 2010, and it wasn't supposed to be in Washington, but in Prague. I won't go back to history now, today the situation is different than it was then. Therefore, what I said is not an assessment of President Duda's decision. I am only stating that it is a formula that goes beyond the normal procedures that are applied here. The Prime Minister is usually received for a longer period by the Vice President of the USA, and as a courtesy, as it happened to me, the President enters this meeting at some point and participates in the conversation for some time. That's how it was in 2006. But this threat situation, which exists today, may have caused the President to decide to agree to it - stated Jarosław Kaczyński at a press conference.

13:09

Kaczyński:

The Pegasus Commission's Existence is Purely Propaganda. It's an Attempt to Fit into a Fabricated Reality Created by the Media. TVN, in Particular, Contributed to This.

- I will [attend the inquiry commission's session on Friday]. As for whether I will answer all questions – I fear there will be many questions to which I am unable to respond, because, quite simply, my understanding of this matter, I fear, barely exceeds, or perhaps does not exceed at all, what is currently in the media. The article in 'Rzeczpospolita' has clarified a lot here, I believe. Perhaps there will be some other explanations too. There is no doubt that the existence of this commission is purely for propaganda purposes. It's an attempt to fit into the fabricated reality created by the media. Unfortunately, Madam [referring to a journalist, implicitly from TVN] represents such media, perhaps TVN in particular contributed significantly to this fabricated reality, a reality of dictatorship, abuses, and surveillance. These are all simply nonsense - stated Jarosław Kaczyński at a press conference.

16:57

Kosztowniak:

Rescinding Zero VAT on Food Will Cost Poles an Extra PLN 12-13 Billion
- Our government introduced the zero [VAT] rate, this zero rate was in effect for two years. Towards the end of our government’s term, we decided to extend it for another three months. [...] The resignation from this zero rate is happening at a very wrong moment. On one hand, we are dealing with a decrease in the inflation rate [...], but we know perfectly well that if food prices go up, inflation will jump again, especially since we also know that halfway through the year, the shield related to freezing prices for electricity, gas, and so-called district heating will also end - said Zbigniew Kuźmiuk at a press conference. - In the coming year, Poles will pay approximately 12-13 billion zlotys more for food products. [...] All of this will cause the process of inflation decline to be genuinely disrupted. [...] One must bear in mind that in the basket of particularly the poorest and middle-income individuals, food expenditures are one of the basic elements. These people will feel it the most. [...] 12 billion zlotys minimum – this is what Poles will pay for this shield not being maintained - said Andrzej Kosztowniak in turn.

16:59

Czarzasty:

April 7th is a good date to go to the polls and fight for your rights

- To the groups that may have felt neglected recently. Believe that the fight for your rights also includes local government elections. Believe that by voting for the Left, because we believe in it, we see a prospect for improving the quality of your life. Believe that your life can also be connected with the strength of local government, therefore April 7th is a good date to go to the polls, to fight for your rights – stated Włodzimierz Czarzasty in Chełm.

16:59

Kulasek:

The Left Exists to Restore Normalcy

- On October 15th, Polish women and men decided on a change. Mainly young people, young women, and women in general decided that we removed PiS from power after 8 years of bad governance. Now it's time for local governments. PiS ruled in the Lublin Voivodeship for 8 years, destroying local governments. Ladies and gentlemen, the Left exists to return these local governments to citizens, young people, older people, and seniors. We are here to restore normalcy – said Marcin Kulasek at a press conference in Chełm.

18:04

Tusk:

Poland is not directly threatened

- It is not my job to put our compatriots in a bad mood. There is enough anxiety caused by facts without further amplifying this anxiety with words and narrative. But there is no doubt that especially us, lying in such a place on earth, must be aware that denying the reality of what is happening around us certainly does not increase our security. Poland is not directly threatened. Incidents occur, as we know, particularly in the air. There is no doubt that Russia is not and will not be in the future favourably disposed towards the West, NATO, and especially towards the eastern flank of NATO, including Poland, but it still seems very unlikely that Russia would decide on an open conflict with NATO. When will this become more probable? If NATO ceases to function in practice - stated Donald Tusk in a conversation with Piotr Kraśko on TVN24.

18:15

Tusk:

The President has the right to formulate his initiatives, but isn't it more important to encourage our NATO partners to meet the 2% GDP defense spending target?
- The president mentioned this [increasing defense spending to 3% of GDP within NATO] publicly for the first time yesterday… 'Surprised' might be the wrong word. One doesn't need to prepare for something like that. The president has the right to formulate his own initiatives, I absolutely do not deny that right to anyone, especially not to the President of the Republic of Poland. However, I immediately posed the question: isn't it more important to encourage our partners to meet the 2% target? To be honest, if everyone met that 2 percent threshold in NATO, we would probably have more money than is available for arms purchases worldwide – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk on TVN24.

18:23

Tusk:

Sanctions Must Stop Being Fictitious. Half of Europe Continues to Trade with Russia and Belarus

- Sanctions must stop being fictitious sanctions. Half of Europe continues to trade with Russia and Belarus. Many companies, including in Poland, effectively circumvent sanctions, because somehow nobody is interested in enforcing them with real power - stated Donald Tusk on TVN24.

18:28

President Duda Meets with Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives

President Andrzej Duda met with representatives of Congress – first with senators (Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell), and then with members of the House of Representatives (Speaker Mike Johnson and Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries).

18:36

Tusk:

We presented, we submitted to the Sejm, we will fight for the bill on safe, legal abortion up to the 12th week

- With full conviction, both during the campaign and today, I can repeat this. I am talking about the issue of the right to legal, safe abortion as a woman's right to decide for herself, about her health, her body, and I will not change my mind. And I will say honestly, I didn't know if this would be good for elections or not, because it's not a matter of electoral benefits. It's a matter of conviction, and it's not about what I think about abortion, but about what I and others think about human rights, about equality, about women's rights. And that's why I won't back down, and what is within the government's power, we will do. We are doing it right now. That is, so that pregnant women whose health and life are threatened feel safer. We presented, we submitted to the Sejm, we will fight for the bill on safe, legal abortion up to the 12th week. Will we get a majority in parliament? I don't know. KO will certainly vote for this bill - stated Donald Tusk on TVN24.

18:46

Tusk:

I will convince Biden that NATO's operational capabilities on the eastern flank must be significantly greater than today
There is an atmosphere today conducive to working, certainly as far as this administration in Washington is concerned, President Biden and his people, and as far as the Polish government is concerned, to mobilize ourselves and other partners to support Ukraine, so that we don't have to assume that this bad scenario will happen, meaning that a Russian offensive might bring such effects. It's too early today, there won't be such a resolution today. We must take seriously Joe Biden's response from several hours ago, that for now the USA does not foresee an increased number of American soldiers on our territory. However, it is very important to me that both Americans and other NATO partners understand that these operational plans of ours and such real infrastructure, logistics, will prevent a scenario similar to what Ukraine experienced during the first Russian invasion of Ukraine, when Ukraine was completely unprepared. We must be ready today, and NATO must acknowledge this, and I will also very strongly try to convince President Biden of this, that if not today, then tomorrow, if not tomorrow, then the day after tomorrow, but almost literally, NATO's operational capabilities on the eastern flank must be significantly greater than today – stated Donald Tusk on TVN24. - I will also speak about this very openly: only a strong Poland will guarantee the stability of the entire region, and an unstable region means dramatic troubles sooner or later for all of Europe, for the entire West, and I would like this to reach all our interlocutors today – he added.

19:00

Tusk:

I'm an Optimist Seeing an Authentic Awakening of the West; The West as a Whole is Mobilizing
- I am generally an optimist today, seeing an authentic awakening of the West. There are turbulences, there are various politicians, there are such historical incidents. Not in the sense of an incident, but such turmoil caused by the leadership of one politician or another. It's a bit like that with Orbán in Hungary, it's like that now with Donald Trump, and it was like that during his presidency. But the West as a whole is mobilizing. And this awakening of the West, in my opinion, is authentic, and now the only question is whether we will be able to organize it – Donald Tusk said on TVN24.

19:08

Duda after Meetings in Congress: The Most Important Message is that Our Relations are Excellent and We Build Them Regardless of Who is in Power at the Moment
- The first stage of my visit to Washington today was meetings here, in Congress, on Capitol Hill. […] In both the Senate and the House of Representatives, I met with the Speakers and minority leaders. Very interesting and very good conversations. What is most important is the message that our relations are excellent and we build them regardless of who is in power at the moment - President Andrzej Duda said at a press briefing in Washington.

19:14

Duda After Meetings in Congress: I Received with Satisfaction the Positive Response to My Proposal to Increase NATO Defense Spending
- I received with satisfaction a very positive response to this proposal, which I submitted, that defense spending in NATO should be raised from 2 to 3% [of GDP], in order to demonstrate solidarity. On the one hand, everyone knows that the USA has the most powerful army and that the USA is the guarantor of security, but on the other hand, we, as members of the North Atlantic Alliance, treat our presence in the Alliance and security matters responsibly and are ready to bear the burdens resulting from the current situation – said President Andrzej Duda at a press briefing in Washington.

21:10

Presidential Office Releases Joint Photo of Biden, Duda, and Tusk

A meeting between US President Joe Biden, Prime Minister Donald Tusk, and President Andrzej Duda is currently underway.

21:16

Tusk to Biden: On behalf of Poles, I want to convey one message. Our country is now a stable democracy
I would like you to know that your campaign 4 years ago was an inspiration for me and so many Poles. We were encouraged, you know, by your fight, your victory. Thank you for that, it was very significant not only for the USA. Today, on behalf of Poles, I want to convey one message to you. Our country is now a stable democracy. It is a country for which the security of the entire region is so important. Pope John Paul II said that there can be no just Europe without an independent Poland. Today I can say that there can be no secure Europe without a strong Poland. I can also say that there can be no just Europe without a free and independent Ukraine. We are here with President Duda also to confirm once again that Poland is and will be a solid and lasting pillar of the transatlantic community, regardless of who wins the elections in our country. We take our commitments seriously, more than anyone else in Europe. And we hope that none of our NATO partners will undermine our most important commitment, which is Article 5 – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk during a meeting with US President Joe Biden.

21:17

Biden:

America's Commitment to Poland is Ironclad
America's commitment to Poland is ironclad. We always say that an attack on one ally is an attack on all. We all must think exactly the same way. I look forward to the discussions that will take place here today. Thank you very much for today's visit - stated US President Joe Biden during a meeting with the Polish Prime Minister and President.

22:21

Tusk after White House Meeting: The Unity of Views at the Table Was Impressive
The unity of views at this table was impressive. Not surprisingly, from the Polish side, but perhaps also not surprisingly, that in virtually every point of this conversation, we had a common stance with President Biden and the US side. This is already a tradition, but it's not about tradition here, but about such obvious common interests. It is understandable that our conversation focused on Ukraine, on the aid from the USA, the EU, and NATO countries to Ukraine. We spoke at length about how quickly it is possible to unblock American aid, we exchanged remarks on how we, Poles, are mobilizing the EU for this aid. A serious conversation at a serious moment - stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk in a conversation with journalists in the USA.

22:28

Discussion with President Biden Included the Situation in Ukraine

- In a very solemn and pleasant atmosphere, we had a conversation about security. That's mainly what we discussed with President Joe Biden, about the situation in our part of Europe, and also the wartime situation in Ukraine. I briefed the President because he asked how we assess this situation, what the front line looks like today, and in our opinion, what the future will look like regarding the war and Ukraine's chances. I said that the aid being provided to Ukraine is undoubtedly of immense importance; it is fundamental for Ukraine's ability to defend itself. President Biden thanked me for the meetings I had today in Congress, the Senate, and the House of Representatives - stated President Andrzej Duda at a press briefing in the United States.

Apache Helicopters for the Polish Army Discussed at the White House

- At the White House with President Joe Biden and his associates, the American delegation discussed Apache helicopters for the Polish army, regarding the support that was offered to us. Today, I saw that the media in Poland have already written about it – $2 billion of this exceptional loan, support for the modernization of this element of our army. We are currently in talks on this matter as well. Tomorrow, I am heading to Georgia, where I will visit the most modern American nuclear power plant, a very similar one will be built, or rather, its construction is already beginning in terms of investment documentation in our country. We also spoke about this during the meeting, about developing this cooperation – stated President Andrzej Duda at a press briefing in the United States.
