Tuesday's Political Agenda: Tusk at V4 Summit in Prague, Hołownia in Krakow, Further Interrogations in Visa Scandal Investigative Committee

Prime Minister Donald Tusk is heading to Prague for a meeting of the heads of state of the Visegrad Group. "It was a rather effective format within the European Union. We achieved a great deal when we were all staunch supporters of strengthening the West's power and were democrats," the head of government stated on Monday at a press conference.

"I am sorry for one reason. I will talk about it tomorrow in Prague. Poles, Slovaks, Hungarians, Czechs - objectively speaking - have almost exclusively common interests. This also applies to security. It is a kind of paradox that today, ambiguous signals regarding Putin and Russia are coming from Budapest and Bratislava," Tusk stated.

"I will return from Prague, from this meeting, and I will tell you openly whether the Visegrad Group still makes sense or not. This meeting will clarify a lot," he added.

At **9:30 AM**, a press conference will be held by the chairman of the PiS parliamentary club, Mariusz Błaszczak, and MPs Waldemar Buda and Paweł Jabłoński.

At **10:00 AM**, the investigative committee for the visa scandal will interrogate the former Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Mumbai, Damian Irzyk, and subsequently, the vice-consul at the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Mumbai, Mateusz Reszczyk.

At **6:00 PM** in Krakow, the chairman of Poland 2050, Szymon Hołownia, will participate in an open meeting with the candidate for the mayor of Krakow, MP Rafał Komarewicz.

Siekierski:

I am convinced that protesting farmers will do everything to ensure the protest does not significantly inconvenience Warsaw residents

- I am convinced that the protesting farmers will do everything to ensure that the protest, this gathering, does not become a significant inconvenience for the residents of Warsaw. At the same time, I apologize to the residents for any disruptions, but protests have a certain form and are always associated with some significant traffic disruptions - stated Czesław Siekierski in "Sygnały dnia" on PR1.

07:48

Siekierski:

I'm in constant dialogue with protestors

- I am in constant dialogue with the protestors. Yesterday, I was returning from Brussels, and I also spoke with protestors in Brussels. There was a protest, mainly attended by farmers from Belgium, but there were also representatives from Spain, Italy, France, and other countries. It was a protest of international scope. Later, during the deliberations of the Council of the European Union Ministers of Agriculture, which is currently chaired by the Belgian Minister of Agriculture as Belgium holds the presidency, there was a meeting with representatives of the protesting farmers - stated Czesław Siekierski on PR1's 'Sygnały dnia'.

07:52

Siekierski:

I Discussed EU Involvement in Grain Sales and Transport Costs

- In Poland, we have large grain reserves. I discussed the European Union getting involved in grain sales, or covering the costs of its transport, or even buying some grain from the market and donating it for humanitarian purposes to regions of the world in need, because this would allow us to regain those markets for the future and win the competition against cheap Russian grain - stated Czesław Siekierski on "Sygnały dnia" PR1.

07:58

Brudziński:

We are all with the farmers. I would like to warmly appeal to the residents of Warsaw

- I want to say very clearly. We are all with the farmers. I would like to warmly and sincerely appeal to the residents of Warsaw not to let themselves be convinced that all the difficulties, which will likely occur in the capital, are solely because farmers don't like something and are trying to make life difficult for city dwellers. This is what the current coalition of December 13th will try to exploit, to divide Poles - stated Joachim Brudziński on TV Republika.

08:03

Tomczyk:

After Tusk, Sikorski, and Kosiniak-Kamysz's Foreign Visits, Europe is Awakening
- After Donald Tusk's visit to France and Germany, after the numerous visits of Minister Sikorski and Prime Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz, Europe is awakening, I want to say that very clearly. And I will give an example: after Donald Tusk's visit to France and Germany [...] the very next day we received calls from the French and German armies regarding the launch of new projects, those that had been negotiated for many months or even years previously, and which could not be implemented – stated Cezary Tomczyk in an interview with Grzegorz Kępka on Polsat News' "Graffiti".

08:10

Tomczyk on Potential NATO Troop Deployment to Ukraine: 'No Such Project in Poland'
- There is no such project or idea in Poland [...] I am not fully familiar with President Andrzej Duda's interview, so I understand that the President participated in various kinds of discussions. [...] However, we should discuss security matters behind closed doors, as these are extremely sensitive issues. [...] We maintain the position that any initiatives that go beyond existing matters should be undertaken at the NATO level and with the participation of a vast majority of allies - said Cezary Tomczyk in Polsat News, when asked about the potential deployment of NATO soldiers to Ukraine.

08:16

Tomczyk:

The Visegrad Group Degraded After 2015. Today, There's a Chance to Reverse It
- I think [the Visegrad Group] makes [sense], but we need to consider how it should function and what its future should look like. Let's remember that what happened to the Visegrad Group and what happened in Europe actually started with Poland, meaning from 2015, from the populist takeover of power. This was followed by the degradation of both the Visegrad Group and the political standing of Central and Eastern European countries because these countries, such as Poland and Hungary, went in the direction of populists. Today, there is a chance to reverse all of this - said Cezary Tomczyk on Polsat News.

08:23

Tomczyk:

Sikorski Showed That He Doesn't Bow Even to the Most Important Allies
- We all know Minister Sikorski's statements, not just from recent weeks, but also from years ago, where he very clearly showed that he doesn't bow to even the most important allies, but expects partnership-based cooperation from them, and secondly, regarding what Minister Sikorski has been doing in recent weeks [...] I think Poland can finally be proud and is proud of its Minister of Foreign Affairs, because, to be honest, I think 90% of Poles didn't even know who the Minister of Foreign Affairs was before, because he was almost anonymous - said Cezary Tomczyk on Polsat News.

08:29

Tomczyk on Potential 8% GDP Defense Spending: 'If Poland Were Directly Threatened by Armed Conflict, We Could Do Much More Than We Are Doing Today'
- As Minister Sikorski said, if Poland were directly threatened by armed conflict, we would be able to do much more than we are doing today - said Cezary Tomczyk in Polsat News, when asked if Radosław Sikorski's words in an interview with CNN mean that Poland is ready to spend 8% of its GDP on defense.

08:35

Tomczyk on Disclosure of Details Regarding Military Equipment Purchases from Korean Contracts: A Matter of Weeks
- I think it's a matter of weeks - said Cezary Tomczyk on Polsat News, when asked whether it would be a matter of weeks or months before we learn the details regarding the Korean contracts for military equipment purchases.

09:18

Szczerba:

PiS Tried to Bury This Scandal, Fearing Kobos Would Go to the Media and Tell His Story
- These words that we remember, Jarosław Kaczyński saying 'this isn't even a small scandal.' Rau saying 'this is not a scandal,' indicated that an attempt was made to bury this matter. But yesterday, we have new information that even when Edgar Kobos, the person accused of bribery, was released from prison, he was still strangely under observation by not entirely identified individuals who were monitoring his movements, his surroundings, his family. So, what were they afraid of? They were afraid that Edgar Kobos would go to the media, that he would reach journalists and tell his story – stated Michał Szczerba on the program 'Rozmowa Piaseckiego' on TVN24.

09:22

Szczerba:

Kobos wanted to testify as a minor accomplice witness, but Ziobro's prosecutors weren't interested in threads concerning PiS politicians
- This meeting was interesting, it was informative. Often shocking, because he spoke very specifically about certain, I would say, strictly corrupt mechanisms that involved him and people he collaborated with. Also very important in this matter is what Edgar K. did not say. And why didn't he say it? Because there could potentially be corrupt threads there that involve specific PiS politicians concerning various financial issues – Michał Szczerba said on TVN24. - He didn't say it because he repeatedly, and this is a media fact, wanted to testify as a minor accomplice witness, meaning he wanted to implicate others in this matter as well. Ziobro's prosecution didn't allow him to do that, and the appeal he made publicly yesterday was also an appeal to an increasingly independent prosecution to let him speak. He spoke, he spoke, he spoke, but Ziobro's prosecutors at the time, Ziobro's prosecutors, were not interested in those threads, which, interestingly, concerned PiS politicians, or directly Piotr Wawrzyk – he continued.

09:27

Szczerba:

Kamiński, Kaczyński, Morawiecki, and Rau Knew Precisely About the Corruption, Watched It, and Perhaps Benefited
- Why is Wawrzyk silent? The prosecution has established that Wawrzyk knew about this corrupt practice, Wawrzyk knew that his closest associate, Edgar Kobos, was receiving payments, receiving bribes, gigantic bribes, for every visa that Wawrzyk pushed, and everyone knew about it – stated Michał Szczerba on TVN24. - I will tell you one thing. Everything that happened in this matter, from roughly November 2022 until Kobos's arrest in April 2023, was under operational surveillance. Therefore, Kamiński, Kaczyński, and Morawiecki, and especially Rau, knew precisely who they had in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the position of Secretary of State. They knew exactly that this corrupt practice was ongoing, they watched it, and perhaps even benefited from it – he continued.

10:48

Tusk:

Poland and the Czech Republic are united by friendship. My official visit to Prague is confirmation of this
- My official visit to Prague is a confirmation of something obvious, not only for both of us, but also for our nations. We are bound by a traditional friendship; it doesn't stem solely from geography […] history, shared generational experiences; it also arises from a community of interests and a community of opinions on the most crucial issues currently troubling Europe and the entire world – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a joint press conference with the Czech Prime Minister in Prague.

10:51

Tusk:

It's Important That in This Region, Recently Quite Complicated, There Are Two Capitals Speaking with One Voice on Practically All Matters
- I knew I was going to see a friend and a friendly country, but I didn't think that in politics there could be two partners in agreement on virtually all aspects we discussed - said Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a joint press conference with the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic in Prague. - This is very important for Poland, for the Czech Republic, for the entire region, but I think it can also be important for Ukraine, for the EU, for NATO, that in this region, which has been quite complicated recently, there are two capitals speaking with one voice on practically all matters - he added.

11:02

Tusk:

No one has the right to believe the Czech Republic or Poland are not supporting Ukraine. Simultaneously, we soberly assess the negative impact of free trade decisions.
- I am pleased that we will also be able to cooperate practically when it comes to supporting Ukraine in its most crucial matters, such as the delivery of ammunition. I highly appreciate your initiative, the Czech initiative. Of course, we are ready to participate in any initiative – and this is one such initiative – that will bring us closer [...] to ending Russian aggression against Ukraine - said Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a joint press conference with the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic in Prague.

- It is also extremely important to me that two pro-European and pro-Ukrainian governments also have a very sober judgment and a shared desire to influence European policy when it comes to protecting our markets from unequal competition. [...] No one has the right to believe that the Czech Republic or Poland are not supporting Ukraine, but at the same time, we soberly assess the negative impact of free trade decisions with Ukraine, which negatively affects our economies - he continued.

- We will work together in Brussels on adjustments that will protect the common European market from the negative consequences of such decisions - he announced.

11:03

Tusk:

Poland Does Not Foresee Sending Troops to Ukraine
- Poland does not foresee sending its troops to the territory of Ukraine, we have a common stance on this [...]. I believe we should not speculate about the future today, whether circumstances will arise that change this stance; today, we should focus, as the Polish government or the Czech government is doing, on maximally supporting Ukraine in its armed effort – said Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press conference.

11:05

Tusk:

If all EU states helped Ukraine like Poland and the Czech Republic, there might be no need to discuss other forms of support
- I don't want this to sound too harsh, but if all European Union member states were as committed to helping Ukraine as Poland and the Czech Republic are, then perhaps there would be no need at all to discuss other forms of support for Ukraine. [...] We are also ready, a 20-minute one-on-one conversation was enough for us today to agree on the principles of cooperation for ammunition purchases and cooperation regarding the Czech initiative - Prime Minister Donald Tusk said at a press conference. - I can and will repeat this to all partners, to all without exception, that full financial commitment, for example, I think there is unnecessary discussion about whether frozen assets of the Russian central bank can be used. Why speculate about what will happen in two or five years, when we can immediately and here I think we have a similar opinion, unblock 300 billion dollars of Russian assets frozen in European, American, Japanese banks, for the support of Ukraine and the reconstruction of Ukraine. One decision could solve at least the financial aspect of aid for Ukraine - he continued.

11:09

Tusk on the Green Deal: I Think in a Few Hours We'll Have a Common V4 View on This Matter
- Thank you very much for your understanding and support, and for your readiness to cooperate regarding changes and adjustments to the so-called Green Deal, especially those that clearly impact the interests of Czech industry, Polish industry, or Polish agriculture. We must speak openly about this, and we have a special mandate here as the true guarantors of the entire region's pro-European stance - said Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a joint press conference with the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic in Prague. - In the interest of Europe, of the EU, there must be maximum pragmatism in these matters. We will urge our colleagues in Brussels to very precisely assess the consequences of some decisions for our agriculture and our industry. We also have a common view on this, and I think in a few hours we will also have a common view on this matter from the entire Visegrad Group - he stated.

11:17

Tusk:

It won't take long for the EU's defense capabilities to surpass Russia's offensive capabilities in every aspect
- I have no doubt that the most effective method of deterring Putin and Russia from aggression will be the awareness among Russians that they are dealing with a bloc of strong, determined, and ready-to-act states. I would like us all in Europe to test each other regarding our actions so far, who is ready to intensify them - said Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press conference. - The European Union is six times larger than Russia in terms of population, 10 times larger in terms of economy, and we are technologically much more advanced. It won't take long for the European Union's defense capabilities to surpass Russia's offensive capabilities in every aspect. [...] Europe, which is divided, not united, and not ready to arm itself, will be another target for Russian attack - he continued.

11:21

Tusk:

I would expect our Visegrad Group partners to join the course Prague and Warsaw are on
- I would expect our partners in the Visegrad Group to join the course that Prague and Warsaw are on today, meaning, the course we have always actually been on, so we will be in better spirits if all our partners return to this path, I hope this will happen - Prime Minister Donald Tusk said at a press conference.

Irzyk Before Visa Scandal Inquiry Committee on Applicants to Poland: 'Grey Economy Workers, a Vegetable Seller, a Beautician, a Farmer'
- It's hard to say, they were workers... in the grey economy, rather, very simple jobs, there was one vegetable seller, there was some beautician, there was some farmer – said Damian Irzyk, former Consul General of Poland in Mumbai, before the inquiry committee regarding the visa scandal, when asked about the professions of individuals applying to come to Poland.

13:16

Irzyk:

I Recall Czarnecki's Intervention, Who Asked to Accept an Acquaintance Doing Business in India. It Turned Out the Matter Concerned Indian Workers
- I recall the intervention of MEP Czarnecki, who somehow got my phone number and asked me to accept one of his acquaintances who does business in India and wanted to develop his business there. So, with such a recommendation, I agreed to such a meeting [...] very quickly during the meeting it turned out that the matter concerned Indian workers coming to Poland, therefore our response was clear: we can do nothing, please refer to the website - said Damian Irzyk before the investigative committee regarding the visa scandal.

13:23

Irzyk:

I Get the Impression Kobos Complained About Harassment Because We Demanded Proof of Financial Means in Every Application
- The conversation with Edgar Kobos in mid-January concluded only with the information that he could submit appeals, i.e., requests for reconsideration. He then called again after these requests were processed and spoke in a rather arrogant tone about our requirements regarding these applications. That is, he didn't like that we were demanding that in every application, the applicant present proof of having financial means. This greatly outraged him, and he considered it an unjustified requirement on our part [...]. This conversation ended rather, I would say, abruptly, and the effect, I have the impression, was a long email from Mr. Kobos to the Director of the Consular Department, in which he repeatedly complained about the harassment he was experiencing from the consul in Mumbai - said Damian Irzyk before the parliamentary investigative committee regarding the visa scandal.

13:46

Hołownia to Protesting Farmers: These Barriers in Front of the Sejm Are Not Directed Against You
- It seems to me that all these matters that are being put on the table today and discussed, if both sides are willing, will be resolvable and processable, because my impression is that no one today wants to bring Polish food security and Polish farmers to ruin. On the other hand, one must be aware that not everything is going as it should, given this unrest, this anger, and this situation that you are expressing today in this protest has matured to a point where, instead of being with your families, instead of being on your farms [...] you are coming to Warsaw - said Szymon Hołownia during a meeting with a delegation of protesting farmers. - I know that primarily two things are on the table, i.e., grain, but not only grain and other products whose prices are as they are [...] and secondly, what to do to ensure that the Green Deal actually does what it was meant to do, i.e., to ensure that the drought we have had in Poland since 2010 decreases, but at the same time does not dry out Polish farms and does not lead to farmers going bankrupt due to bureaucracy, if drought hasn't finished them off - he continued. - These barriers in front of the Sejm are not directed against you; they were put in place solely at the request of the police, who received information about possible provocations during the protest. In concern for our shared safety, the final decision tonight was to agree to this - he added.

14:07

Tusk:

The Visegrad Group Has Exceptionally Solid Foundations. At its birth was a common resistance against the Soviet empire
The Visegrad Group has exceptionally solid foundations. Somewhere at the birth of this group was a common resistance against the Soviet empire and the presence of Russian troops in our countries. We all remembered, personally or historically, that extraordinary solidarity between our nations. Be it the Hungarian October of 1956, where József Antall was one of the leaders, where Poles donated blood to Hungarian insurgents, or the Prague Spring, or Solidarity with Lech Wałęsa at its head. We all remember how important for this friendship, for these lasting relations between Hungarians, Slovaks, Czechs, and Poles, were these fundamental values, and they truly founded the Visegrad format – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press conference of the V4 prime ministers in Prague. I am also very moved by the present and past of our relations and the future of the Visegrad Group. I care greatly that, in a few months, I will be taking over the presidency of the Visegrad Group from Petr, and that we all remember with such tenderness what lay at the foundation of the group. Viktor Orbán knows well that he has been written into my memory with his famous first speech, when he said he would gladly vote for a government whose first task would be to remove Soviet troops from Hungary, from Budapest. That was in 1989. We all had similar dreams then, and I hope that nothing has truly changed in us – he continued.

14:13

Tusk at V4 Prime Ministers' Conference: I Count on More Unambiguous Support for Ukraine After Our Discussion

- Today, the test of our cooperation lies in our actions within the EU, because we don't need to assure friendship between nations. They are obvious and well-established. After all, prime ministers and presidents change, while nations are far more attached to lasting bonds than politicians, so I am confident about the friendship between our nations. However, we must today define our common interests under more difficult conditions – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a V4 prime ministers' press conference in Prague.

- What forms the basis of the Visegrád Group, what we have written in our declaration and in our hearts, should today apply to our common policy towards Ukraine. As you know, there are somewhat different approaches here, but we discussed how we can act together for Ukraine as a victim of Russian aggression. After this conversation, I believe it is possible to build, at least fragmentarily, such common work for the sake of helping Ukraine, perhaps with different approaches to the matter, but I count on the fact that after our discussion, this support for Ukraine will be more unambiguous – he continued.

14:16

Tusk:

After Today's Meeting, I Am a Cautious Optimist

- It is better for Poland, I think it is better for the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Slovakia for the Visegrad Group to be as solidary as possible. Today, this is perhaps more difficult than before, but I would like us to work together to ensure that at least some matters are on our common agenda, and after today's meeting, I am a cautious optimist – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press conference of the V4 prime ministers in Prague.

15:00

Tusk:

Putin is a War Criminal. There is no room for neutrality or false equivalence here.

- The truth is obvious, Putin is a war criminal. The sole reason for the war in Ukraine is Russian aggression against Ukraine. There is no room for neutrality or false equivalence here. Regardless of how strong a state Russia remains, the political, moral, and historical assessment of what is happening in Ukraine today must be unambiguous. In matters such as assessing who is guilty of the war, who is the aggressor, who is the victim, what is the cause of the war, this is not an area for negotiation. One can negotiate the terms of peace, one can consider methods of procedure, how to help Ukraine, who wants how much, who can do how much, but there is no room for speculation as to who is guilty and who is not guilty of this aggression - stated Donald Tusk at a press conference of the Prime Ministers of the Visegrad Group countries.

15:05

Tusk:

We want to help Ukraine, that's indisputable, but it cannot be done through measures that are lethal to our economy

- Regarding Polish farmers, food producers, but more broadly, because it's not just about Polish farmers and food producers. It also concerns other sectors of the economy and other countries. We cannot leave them alone. At the exact same time, it was decided to introduce the so-called Green Deal, whose ecological and climate goals are indisputable, but whose certain chapters, e.g., concerning European agriculture, represent a burden too heavy to bear, especially for medium and smaller agricultural producers. At the same time, a decision was made regarding free trade with Ukraine, involving Ukrainian agricultural products, which we have no chance of competing with, if only because the standards required of European and Polish agricultural producers are very high, and there are no procedural requirements, no standards applied to Ukrainian food. We want to help Ukraine, that's indisputable, but it cannot be done through measures that are lethal to entire economic sectors – said Donald Tusk at the V4 summit in Prague.

15:06

Tusk:

Poland Maintains Embargo on Ukrainian Grain, Expansion to Other Products Not Ruled Out

- Poland maintains the embargo on Ukrainian grain. It is not ruled out, and we are discussing this with the Ukrainian side, that an expansion of the embargo to other products will be necessary if the EU does not find more effective ways to protect the Polish and European market – stated Donald Tusk at the V4 summit in Prague.

15:08

Tusk:

Poland Does Not Foresee Sending Soldiers to Ukraine

- Poland does not foresee sending soldiers to Ukraine - stated Donald Tusk at a press conference of the Prime Ministers of the Visegrad Group countries.

15:17

Hołownia After Meeting Farmers: During Talks, We Essentially Agreed on One Thing: It Would Be Good to Organize a Kind of Round Table in the Sejm to Reach an Agreement with Farmers

- During the talks, we essentially agreed on one thing, and that is probably the main achievement of this hour: it would be good to organize a kind of round table as soon as possible in a place like the Sejm, which offers such a possibility. Where experts, farmers, politicians, but also perhaps processors and market representatives in general, will talk to each other continuously, so that after a few months, perhaps a dozen or so months of joint work, it turns out that there is no longer a need to organize large protests once a year. Instead, everyone heard each other earlier and truly knows what the other side is trying to do to meet reality – said Szymon Hołownia at a press briefing in the Sejm.

15:18

Hołownia:

Barriers around the Sejm will appear whenever the real safety of protesters is at stake

- I have said this and I will repeat it again. The barriers in front of the Sejm disappeared for good once we, with the new majority, started working here, but they will appear whenever the real safety of people participating in protests is involved – stated Szymon Hołownia at a press briefing in the Sejm.

15:39

Hołownia on Abortion Bill Discussions: Let's Tackle Them at the Next Sejm Session Since We Can't Agree on Another Course of Action
- There is such a plan [I will recommend that the Sejm address all abortion-related bills at the upcoming session], however, we are also part of a coalition, and we will be discussing this this week. I will put my working proposal on the table: that all projects concerning the admissibility of abortion be read at the upcoming Sejm session, and that a further decision be made regarding their further work. I previously proposed a slightly different solution, I proposed taking this particular topic out of the current, increasingly heated campaign [...] and without delay addressing all these projects at the first session in April - Szymon Hołownia said at a press conference. - I will present this idea and solution to the leaders this week, and if they decide that we still want to do it in the old way, so to speak, and deal with it calmly after the fervor of the election battle, then we will consider it. For now, my proposal is this: let's do it at the upcoming Sejm session, since we are unable to agree on another joint course of action, then this is how it should be done, and in my opinion, all these projects should simply be read in the plenary hall - he continued. - No [I will not vote to reject any of the projects in the first reading], even though I have very clear and precisely expressed views on this matter, and they are classified as conservative today, I believe that honesty, certainty, and respect for those who hold different opinions [...] require that all projects be given a chance to reach the second reading - he further stated.

16:08

Sienkiewicz:

Our Final Answer – We Will Rebuild the Saxon Palace
- The reconstruction of the Saxon Palace is beginning, and in reality, the environs of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the altar of the homeland - said Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz in a recording published on social media. - Since December 2022, meaning over a year, the previous management was unable to secure the historic cellars and foundations. All it took was to change the management, two weeks, and the securing has already begun. Is it possible? It is possible - stated the Minister of Culture. - We will rebuild the Saxon Palace. Quickly - he declared at the end.

Chancellery of the Prime Minister: Grabiec's meeting with representatives of protesting farmers is ongoing

Head of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, Jan Grabiec, met with representatives of protesting farmers, as announced on the Chancellery of the Prime Minister's social media.

Mr. Wojciechowski, Farmers Deserve an Apology and Your Resignation. PO Publishes Video
- PiS has deceived the Polish countryside. Farmers are protesting today against the European Green Deal. But who is responsible for this? Here is the author, Janusz Wojciechowski, an EU Commissioner appointed by PiS [...]. Mr. Wojciechowski, farmers deserve an apology and your resignation - says the narrator in a video published on the Civic Platform's social media. The video features archival statements by Janusz Wojciechowski.

19:19

Hołownia:

Rafał Komarewicz is a Man Who Deserves Your Trust in the Krakow Mayoral Election
- Rafał Komarewicz, whom you know not only for talking, but above all for acting, is a man who deserves to earn your trust. I deeply believe this in the upcoming election for the Mayor of Krakow - said Szymon Hołownia in Krakow.

19:26

Hołownia:

Time for a New Era in Politics. After 20 Years of Conflict, Time for 20 Years of Cooperation
- On the Polish level, it's hard not to feel that these last 20 years, in one way or another, have been politics based on conflict, built on conflict. I am deeply convinced that all these challenges that have befallen us, namely COVID, the challenge related to the energy revolution, the social changes we are experiencing so intensely now, the war in Ukraine – all of this is a sign that it's time to start a new era, a new epoch in politics. After 20 years of conflict, time for 20 years of cooperation – said Szymon Hołownia in Krakow.

19:43

Hołownia:

The Challenge Facing Political Leaders is to Ensure Every Substantive Action is Accompanied by an Attempt to De-escalate Conflict
- Today is the time when we should not destroy each other in our next internal wars over important matters, because we must say it clearly: our external enemy is just waiting for that. Today, the responsibility that the political class faces [...] is not only to implement the program, but to do so without casualties, to implement it in a way that deepens the conflict - said Szymon Hołownia in Krakow. - The challenge facing political, civic, and social leaders today is that every substantive action must be accompanied by an attempt to de-escalate conflict. It means releasing a bit of pressure from this pot that is boiling and could soon explode in our hands. And if not in our hands, then in the hands of our children - he continued.

20:16

Siekierski:

All options are being considered, but it's not as simple as closing the border. Trade is a two-way street, and we must be very cautious.

- All options are being considered. Tomorrow, we will also discuss this with the Ukrainian Minister of Economy, who will be a guest at the Ministry of Development and New Technologies, hosted by Minister Hetman. I will also participate, so there is no decision yet, but we are considering various possibilities. It's not as simple as closing the borders because trade is a two-way street. Regarding general trade, we have a positive balance of 6 billion euros. In agriculture, we have a negative balance of about 650 million euros, so we need to be very cautious here – stated Czesław Siekierski on the program "Gość Wydarzeń" on Polsat News.

- [Closing the border could be detrimental to Polish producers] because we also export dairy products. We are considering all of this. We want to introduce a control system, we want to seal the border, we want the flow of goods to be subject to some control so that it does not disrupt stability – he added.

20:17

Siekierski:

I was surprised by the form of inspection by PiS MPs at the Ministry of Agriculture; we have nothing to hide

- I was surprised by the form of inspection [by PiS MPs at the Ministry of Agriculture], opening cabinets, somehow pushing aside, not asking employees. We have nothing to hide, but we have specific agreements with the Ukrainian Minister of Agriculture regarding the form of conducting talks. This is not the stage that allows me to reveal everything for the good of the talks […]. They were too serious individuals not to understand the complexity of the issue – stated Czesław Siekierski on Polsat News.

20:17

Siekierski:

We Renegotiated the Green Deal Arrangements, Reduced Requirements, Including Pesticide Use. No Penalties for Unintentional Errors.
- Problems in Brussels are not resolved, but tackled within a certain process. Fundamentally, I spoke about the need for changes, for a departure from the excessive requirements of the Green Deal, and this process has occurred. We have reduced, concerning pesticide use requirements, there is a departure from many Green Deal requirements, and there will be no penalties for unintentional errors – stated Czesław Siekierski in Polsat News.

The Green Deal is as negotiated by the previous government. Now, unfortunately, it needs to be changed

- What is clear is that most European countries see that this formula simply won't work and there will be a discussion. Therefore, we expect a great deal of flexibility here. It was a mistake, a mistake by both Commissioner Wojciechowski and the previous government. The Green Deal is as negotiated by the previous government. Now, unfortunately, it needs to be changed - stated Adam Szłapka in TVN24's "Fakty po faktach".

Kołodziejczak on PiS MPs Conducting Parliamentary Control: They Wanted to Do Something Good for the Kremlin
- They wanted to do something good for the Kremlin. Please note, which state, which government comes in and says: show me what negotiations with another state look like, show me secret notes, show me the results of negotiations so far. These are only people who wish Poland ill, and farmers must know that Law and Justice wishes Poland ill. Their goal today is to alienate farmers from the government, from Agrounia, from Michał Kołodziejczak, to alienate them from each other, to leave them alone and leave them to be devoured by PiS, so that they are dependent on only one political party, which will again make them dependent on handouts – said Michał Kołodziejczak in an interview with Monika Olejnik on "Kropka nad i" on TVN24, when asked about the parliamentary control conducted by PiS MPs in the Ministry of Agriculture.

First KPO Funds Should Arrive in Poland in April

- The first funds should arrive in Poland in April, I'm talking about the KPO. These are primarily funds for fundamental modernization, such as the 'Clean Air' program, building thermal insulation, and similar initiatives. This will amount to almost 7 billion euros - stated Adam Szłapka on TVN24's "Fakty po faktach".

Hołownia on Abortion: Within a Year and a Half, the Only Path to Dialogue with President Duda is a Referendum
- I assure you that there is no one in the Third Way, and certainly not in Poland 2050, who would support the current solutions regarding the permissibility of terminating pregnancies. No one, or at least I don't know anyone like that - said Szymon Hołownia in Krakow. - Today, we are having a conversation about something else – what should be a pragmatic, not ideal, solution to this issue in a situation where Andrzej Duda is the president. Not in any situation, not with any president, but here and now, pragmatically. What will slightly improve the fate of women treated disrespectfully by Kaczynski and Przyłębska - he continued. - Each of the forces forming the October 15th Coalition has its own proposal. The Left has its own, Civic Platform has its own, the Third Way has put forward its own […]. That's why we put ours forward, because we are convinced that the only way to talk to President Duda today, within this year and a half, is through a referendum - he indicated. - President Duda says on every occasion: "And 10 million people voted for me, and what will you do to me?" […]. So, for something to reach him now on this important matter, you need to bring him 10 million or more than ten million Polish women and men and say: "It wasn't 231 MPs who came, Mr. President, but over ten million Polish women and men" - he explained. - This is the only method, and before that […] the adoption of a rescue bill, which he has already said he will probably sign, reversing what happened with the disgraceful verdict - he added.

Kołodziejczak:

Under the Current System, the Green Deal is Unacceptable
- I am certainly against these provisions [of the Green Deal] that also strike at logic [...]. If we are to introduce regulations that will govern certain issues, we must abandon those that most significantly impact Polish farmers. Under the current system, the Green Deal is simply unacceptable. How can we talk about Poles having to abandon pesticide use by half, when we already use them 5 or 6 times less than the Dutch, the French, and the Germans - said Michał Kołodziejczak on TVN24.

Kołodziejczak:

Fur Farmers Willing to Take Steps to Phase Out the Industry
- I spoke with fur farmers, and they are today in a position to take certain steps to have this industry phased out of Poland, to simply extinguish it. I don't want to go into details now; we agreed like gentlemen not to discuss the specifics - said Michał Kołodziejczak on TVN24.

Kołodziejczak:

I Don't Believe Goods from Wagons Were Thrown Out by Farmers
- I don't believe that these wagons and these trains [the goods transported in them] were thrown out by farmers. Truly. I don't believe it, and that's why there's a very important reflection here: how much longer will we allow someone to exploit the tense situation in Poland between Poland and Ukraine to do such things - said Michał Kołodziejczak on TVN24.

Kołodziejczak:

There is a list of 570 companies buying grain from Ukraine
- There is a list, 570 companies [buying grain from Ukraine], the final details are being finalized today, literally today, one of the deputy directors of one of the departments is helping me with this work, we are establishing a lot of details, we will see how much we can show, but I need to know all the details, who bought what and how much. Initially, it was said that these were only companies that bought wheat and corn, now we have rapeseed, and it is scandalous. A company that advertises on television that it sells oil exclusively from Polish rapeseed bought 330,000 tons of rapeseed from Ukraine - said Michał Kołodziejczak on TVN24.

Trzaskowski:

EU's Actions on Green Deal and Ukrainian Goods May Be Perceived as Hypocrisy
- Today, in the context of the farmers' protest, I spoke clearly about how the European Union's actions can be perceived as hypocrisy. On the one hand, Brussels, through the Green Deal, is tightening food quality standards, while on the other hand, it agreed to allow in goods from Ukraine that do not even meet current European standards. This is precisely what we are trying to explain to our partners - wrote Rafał Trzaskowski on social media.

Hołownia on Abortion: "It's a Lie That I'm Blocking or Delaying Anything in the Sejm"
- I disagree with you [addressing a meeting participant - ed.]. You say that I don't listen to women and my voters. Almost 80,000 people voted for me. They had different opinions on abortion, I have no doubt about that, because I participated in many meetings before the elections. [...] They had these views or other views. But I have always honestly and openly said what I say today on this matter - said Szymon Hołownia in Krakow. - You cannot accuse me of deceiving anyone or not listening to anyone, because there was no obligation to vote for me. [...] We clearly stated in our coalition commitment [of the Third Way] how we want to solve this problem. This is one of the 12 points of our coalition agreement, which was public. [...] Voters of the Third Way were treated fairly by us and could make a choice - he stated. - You are accusing me of trying to impose my narrative on someone. When I [...] say: express your own, I take a step back, I make room for you. Express yourselves, decide - he added. - What more can I do? Should I give up my views? Will that be the moment when some of my critics will be satisfied? But then I would be faithless, inauthentic [...]. I don't think you demand that of me, because I never demand it of you [...]. Why should I feel inferior because I have views that I state honestly and sincerely? - he asked. - You can never accuse me - and I will fight these lies mercilessly - that I am blocking or delaying anything in the Sejm. These are lies - he emphasized, explaining: The Left's projects waited two months for me to wait for all the formalities to be completed. [...] I said many weeks ago that the final date I see is the post-election date, the April Sejm. Today is the end of February, that's very soon. People are coming, writing me letters: faster, faster. I say: okay, most likely at the next Sejm: March 6, 7, 8. And again I hear accusations: even faster. [...] What else can I do? If you want to punish me for the views I hold, then say it [...] with an open visor: yes, we think you are backward, a conservative. [...] If you want to accuse me of dragging out procedures, you have to prove it to me, and so far no one has managed to do that.
