Monday's Political Agenda: Canadian PM's Visit, Sikorski Meets Blinken in the US, Duda in Paris, Wawrzyk and K. Before the Investigative Committee, Hearings for National Prosecutor Candidates, Siekierski in Brussels

At 10:15, Prime Minister Donald Tusk will meet with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. The delegation meeting will begin at 10:50, and a meeting between the prime ministers and the media is scheduled for approximately 11:40. Earlier, at 9:25, President Andrzej Duda will meet with the Canadian Prime Minister.

The head of Polish diplomacy, Radosław Sikorski, is on a visit to Washington, where he will meet with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken today. The discussions are expected to focus primarily on Polish-American cooperation, including economic and security matters, the war in Ukraine, and preparations for this year's NATO summit in Washington.

At 10:00, the investigative committee for the visa scandal will hear the opinion of expert Dr. Paweł Dąbrowski, and then it will question former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Piotr Wawrzyk, as well as his former colleague Edgar K.

Hearings for candidates for the position of National Prosecutor will take place at the Ministry of Justice headquarters. These will be conducted by the Team for selecting a candidate for National Prosecutor, appointed by the Minister of Justice and chaired by Deputy Minister Maria Ejchart. The qualification interviews will begin at 10:00, and the order in which they will take place will be decided by a draw.

Minister of Agriculture Czesław Siekierski is traveling to Brussels. "We need to understand the farmers' protests, and I will be advocating for this at tomorrow's [Monday's] session of the EU Council of Ministers in Brussels," he stated.

Also today, President Andrzej Duda will participate in a meeting of foreign leaders in Paris dedicated to aid for Ukraine.

Mastalerek:

There was no invitation for the president, nor a cancelled visit for the 2nd anniversary of the war. This is fake news

- No, that's not true. There was no invitation for the anniversary of the war, neither last year for the 1st anniversary of the war, nor for the second anniversary. Besides, you saw, Mr. Editor, that the format in which the head of the EC was present was a prime ministerial format. I don't know how you, Mr. Editor, and those who disseminated this information, would see the President of the Republic of Poland there. If Ms. von der Leyen is with three prime ministers. Secondly, there were no such plans, neither last year nor now. This is fake news, there was neither an invitation nor a cancelled visit on the anniversary - stated Marcin Mastalerek in an interview with Marcin Fijołek on Polsat News' "Graffiti".

08:04

Bodnar:

I assume the president will sign the KRS bill
- From the perspective of the action plan I presented in Brussels, it's like this: I stated which laws will be passed by parliament and which laws are in preparation, and the approximate timeline for work on these laws. However, of course, it seems to me that everyone is aware that this does not guarantee that they will be passed, because it depends on the president. However, I would emphasize that the release of funds from the National Recovery Plan depends on the fulfillment of milestones, and from the perspective of the European Commission, the milestones required at this stage have been fulfilled - said Adam Bodnar in "Rozmowa Piaseckiego" on TVN24. - I will do everything in my power to convince the president of this. So, currently in the Sejm there is a bill on the National Council of the Judiciary, and this is a bill that, I assume, the president will sign - he continued.

08:14

Mastalerek:

The President Sees No Reason to Shorten Any Ambassador's Term

- It is obvious that Ambassador Szczerski is staying in his post, because why would he leave it? His term has not ended, and besides, he is a very good ambassador, and the President sees no reason at all to shorten the term of any ambassador. Regarding the EU, it was a direct conversation between the President and the Prime Minister, and it is a specific posting – stated Marcin Mastalerek on Polsat News' "Graffiti" program.

08:21

Bodnar:

New Competitions Should Be Held for Positions Filled with the Involvement of an Unconstitutional KRS
- We must consider the moral and professional choices made between 2018 and 2024 [...]. So now, whether a judge or a lawyer applying and wishing to receive a recommendation from the National Council of the Judiciary is aware that this body operates unconstitutionally [...]. If a person consciously makes such a decision, they must reckon with the fact that this status may be verified, and the question is how to do it. I am in favor of the thesis that in such a situation, new competitions should be held for these positions that were filled - said Adam Bodnar on TVN24. - Some people knew they would not apply for these positions because the competition was in a sense flawed. Many good judges resigned from the possibility of promotion over these past years, and they should have had such an opportunity - he continued. - [The mandate of individuals who entered the judiciary with the involvement of the new KRS should be challenged] With the exception of individuals who are graduates of the National School of the Judiciary and Public Prosecution. There are very many of them in fact, because it's over 100 people each year, and now please note that with them the situation is such that they had no choice. They only had this National Council of the Judiciary; they couldn't say 'I prefer the one that operated before'. The second group of judges is such that in their case, one could say 'okay, you were a district court judge, you were promoted to the regional court, so now you return to the district court' - he went on to say.

08:23

Mastalerek:

Removal of the National Prosecutor Was a Gross Violation of Law and Endangers Poles' Legal Security
Prosecutor Barski, if we can speak at all about his removal, the attempt to remove him was contrary to law and Polish security. I will not be responsible for the President, what the President will do in this matter, he has competent ministers for these matters like Małgorzata Paprocka, but the President's stance is simple. The removal of the National Prosecutor was a gross violation of law and endangers Poles' legal security – stated Marcin Mastalerek in "Graffiti" Polsat News.

08:24

Mastalerek:

After Nowak's letter, I bet with colleagues whether Kaczyński would announce his candidacy for another term after 2, 3, or 4 days

- No, it was obvious to me after Professor Nowak wrote in his letter that President Kaczyński should step down. I bet with colleagues whether President Kaczyński would announce his candidacy for another term after 2, 3, or 4 days, and I turned out to be a prophet - stated Marcin Mastalerek on Polsat News' "Graffiti" program.

08:29

Bodnar:

I Fear Judge Verification, 99% Would Remain, Depriving Those Voluntarily Resigning from Competitions for 6 Years of Advancement Opportunities
- Why do I fear verification? If we were to adopt a status where everyone remains, but we only verify individual persons, it would result in 99% of people staying, and that's probably not the point. In a certain sense, we would then deprive those who have voluntarily, aware of all the risks, resigned from participating in these competitions for six years, of the opportunity for normal growth within the judiciary structure. This was a very important and very serious moral choice – said Adam Bodnar on TVN24.

08:36

Bodnar:

I Will Present Pegasus Usage Statistics in the Sejm
- My first step will be, as per the procedure outlined in the Prosecutor's Office Act, that as the Prosecutor General, I can present statistical information on the use of operational control and wiretaps in Poland. I do this in the Sejm, and I believe it's a good venue to, on one hand, explain what has happened in this context in recent years, and on the other, present how it looked statistically with the use of this particular technology - said Adam Bodnar on TVN24. - Yes [I will highlight data regarding Pegasus usage], I believe the public has the right to know about the scale of this - he continued.

08:43

Bodnar:

Individuals Subjected to Pegasus Abuse Should Be Notified Personally, Receive Letters
- If we verify the use of this operational control technique [the Pegasus system] and find that in the case of certain individuals it was completely abused, used for political purposes, then I believe that each person should be informed individually. That is, for example, if we have an activist, a journalist, they should receive a letter stating, "Dear Sir/Madam, during this period such a technique was used, you can avail yourself of such measures, e.g., state treasury compensation for damages." This means placing the individual at the center of information, and then let that person decide what to do with it - said Adam Bodnar on TVN24.

08:50

Bodnar:

I Saw the Pegasus-Infiltrated List, It's Shocking
- This [list of those infiltrated by Pegasus] is at the disposal of the minister coordinating special services. I have seen it, however, I only have access to it from the other side, as the Prosecutor General - said Adam Bodnar on TVN24. - I said in one interview that it is shocking to me [in terms of its length] - he continued. - I think both, meaning the people I saw on this list, in my opinion, it is difficult for me to imagine the reasons why they would have been subjected to it - he further stated, when asked whether the shocking aspect was the length of the list or the political level of the individuals against whom Pegasus was used.

08:57

Jaki:

I am convinced Tusk made a deal with Germany

- I am convinced that Donald Tusk made a deal with Germany. We must ask ourselves, is there a greater crime than making a deal with an external state against one's own citizens. What did Tusk and his team do? - stated Patryk Jaki in a conversation with Bogdan Rymanowski on the program 'Gość Radia Zet'.

08:58

Siemoniak:

We're Working with Bodnar on How to Inform Individuals Illegally and Unjustifiably Surveilled by Pegasus
- We are working on this issue with the Minister of Justice, Prosecutor General Adam Bodnar. In some way, these names need to be brought to public awareness, or more precisely - in some way, those individuals who were illegally and unjustifiably surveilled need to be informed. This does not solely concern the software named Pegasus, but all other such situations – stated Tomasz Siemoniak in the program "Sygnały dnia" on PR1. - We've seen the relationships between PiS politicians, so it doesn't surprise me that they suspect each other of the worst. I will, of course, not participate in these speculations; I've spoken about the procedure that is emerging here, the disclosure of facts related to surveillance – he added.

08:59

KPO and Such: I'm Convinced There Was an Agreement Between Tusk and Germany: You Block Money for Poles Until We Return to Power, and in Return, We'll Give You Much More

- I am convinced that there was an agreement between Tusk and Germany on the principle: you block money for Poles until we return to power, you blackmail them, and when we return, we will give you much more in return, blocking the CPK, nuclear power, and trade on the Oder. If we talk about profits, we must also count the costs. The KPO are loans that we have to repay, grants that we will pay back through new taxes, which are significantly larger than the money we will receive. Plus key German interests, such as blocking the CPK - stated Patryk Jaki in an interview on the program 'Gość Radia Zet'.

09:00

Jaki:

Bodnar Fires Judges He Dislikes Daily Through Political Decisions

- Bodnar, with his decisions, politically dismisses judges he dislikes every day. Let's remember that for politicians, if anything, we had in our milestones explicitly written "changes to legal acts." The legal acts haven't changed at all - stated Patryk Jaki in an interview on the program "Gość Radia Zet".

09:04

Siemoniak on Hungary's Consent to Sweden's NATO Accession: Hungary Should Have Done This Long Ago, But I'm Glad the Day is Finally Coming
- There will be a bit of a bitter taste in this "thank you," because Hungary should have done this long ago. It is in the interest of all of Central and Eastern Europe, including Hungary, for countries like Finland previously, and now Sweden, to join the [North Atlantic] Alliance. But I am glad that this day is finally arriving. Everything indicates that this decision will be made today and there will be no further obstacles. From Poland's perspective, it is very important for Sweden to be in NATO – stated Tomasz Siemoniak on PR1.

09:05

Siemoniak:

Joint Polish-Ukrainian Government Session Planned for March 28th to Resolve All Issues
- There are problems in these [Polish-Ukrainian] relations. However, the balance of these two years, of great help, of great solidarity from Poland, and the acceptance of millions, if we sum it up, of refugees from Ukraine, is so significant that it really doesn't matter much whether someone was invited or not, whether they participated or not – Tomasz Siemoniak said on PR1. - I think the words of the President of Ukraine towards Poland, and how he received the words online from Prime Minister Donald Tusk, show that these relations are based on deep foundations and that we will resolve all problems in the near future. Prime Minister Tusk said that such a joint government session is planned for March 28th, we call it intergovernmental consultations, and that this is the time, this is the horizon, to resolve all these issues – he continued.

09:11

Jaki:

We are legally securing all statements suggesting a setup, not Ziobro's illness

- We are legally securing all statements that suggest a setup, not Ziobro's illness.

- We are legally securing all such statements that suggest [a setup, not Zbigniew Ziobro's illness] and individuals who act this way will pay for it through civil lawsuits. The minister himself will initiate them, as soon as he is able to do so – stated Patryk Jaki in an interview on the program „Gość Radia Zet”.

09:53

Czarnek:

President Kaczyński is Indispensable to PiS and Poland

- I was convinced that it would be so, because Jarosław Kaczyński is indispensable to Law and Justice and to Poland, that's my assertion. And since he is strong, feels very well, which is visible in his speeches, and also in internal party discussions, and he is full of energy when it comes to building the party for the future, then why shouldn't he run for the position of president for the coming years. Regardless of whether this congress were to take place now or in a year - stated Przemysław Czarnek on Radio Wnet.

09:54

Czarnek:

We Support the Farmers' Protest with All Our Hearts
We support the farmers' protest with all our hearts. We do this in various ways, publicly, on social media, but for now, we are not participating in it for a very simple reason: we do not want this protest to be politicized. This is a substantive protest by farmers for Poland and Polish agriculture. When the farmers decide that we should get involved, then we will do so. For now, we are politically involved from the sidelines - stated Przemysław Czarnek on Radio Wnet.

09:59

Czarnek on Farmers' Protest: The Whole of Poland is Watching Tusk, Kierwiński, and Kosiniak-Kamysz - We'll See Their Next Moves

- At my weekly summary, I asked the question: 'Mr. Tusk, will you use the police against farmers? Mr. Kosiniak-Kamysz, will you use the army against farmers?' The question is still relevant, and farmers are asking it too, the whole of Poland is asking and is watching Tusk, Kierwiński, and Kosiniak-Kamysz closely - we will see what these gentlemen's next moves will be - stated Przemysław Czarnek on Radio Wnet.

10:27

Szczerba:

According to the prosecutor, Wawrzyk knew about the corrupt practice and that people around him were receiving financial benefits for arranging visas

- I want to be very clear. I will not allow anyone to feign ignorance when the prosecution files indicate that they possessed such knowledge, such information, and are legally obligated to share this knowledge with the investigative committee – Michał Szczerba told journalists.

- After the investigative committee was established, charges were brought against Piotr Wawrzyk. According to the prosecution, Piotr Wawrzyk knew about the corrupt practice, knew that people in his circle were receiving financial benefits for arranging visas, and he helped them in this process for a very long period – he added.

10:29

Szczerba:

Commission Obtained New Information on Irregularities Surrounding the Poland Business Harbour Program, Through Which 3,000 Russian Citizens Entered Poland After the War Outbreak

- Today, we are addressing this most repulsive corrupt practice that developed for several years around the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and would not have been possible without the MFA's leadership. Without PiS politicians, but the commission has also obtained new information, new documents, which we received from various sources regarding serious irregularities surrounding the Poland Business Harbour program. This was Mateusz Morawiecki's program, the so-called business visas, which were granted without work permits issued by voivodes. A fast visa track, a quick channel. It turned out, however, that apart from Belarusian IT specialists, who were the main recipients of this project, it was extended to citizens of the Russian Federation, and over 3,000 citizens of the RF entered Poland during the ongoing war in Ukraine – stated Michał Szczerba in a conversation with journalists.

11:46

Błaszczak Appeals to Ministry of National Defence Leadership: Let the Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Army Work
- We need a secure Poland. We need a strong Polish arms industry. To achieve this goal, we must continue the modernization process of the Polish Army, which was initiated during the Law and Justice governments. We need more K2 tanks and more K9 howitzers. Unfortunately, we hear that the current leadership of the Ministry of National Defence is undecided about concluding further contracts. These contracts envision the production of K2 tanks and K9 howitzers in Poland - said Mariusz Błaszczak at a press conference. - At the request of the Ambassador of South Korea, I met with a representative of South Korea and heard that there is no clear stance from the new leadership of the Ministry of National Defence regarding further cooperation. The Ambassador of Korea himself asked me for advice on what needs to be done for this agreement, another agreement beneficial to both states, to be concluded - he continued. - We also need more Himars launchers, rocket launchers with a range of up to 300 km, and we also need Apache attack helicopters. [...] In this matter, too, there is a lack of further action from the current leadership of the Ministry of National Defence. Regarding Himars, the Polish army should be equipped with 500 Himars launchers; that's how many are needed to realistically deter an aggressor, that's how many launchers the Polish army needs so that Putin does not decide to attack our country. [...] A few days ago, the president of the Himars launcher manufacturer was in Poland. I assess such a visit as an act of desperation, as the American side, from this one can infer, also does not know what the new leadership of the Ministry of National Defence intends to do beyond uttering incantations - he went on. - We also need an army of at least 300,000 [...] There is also chaos here, we don't know what the plans are. On the one hand, we have a good declaration from the Chief of the General Staff, Gen. Wiesław Kukuła, who declares the continuation of the vision I introduced [...] on the other hand, the main advisor to Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz is Gen. Gocuł, an old-school general, who undermines the concept of creating an army of at least 300,000 [...]. I appeal to the current leadership of the Ministry of National Defence: let the Chief of the General Staff work. The actions announced by Gen. Kukuła are appropriate, they are good for the security of our homeland - he added.

11:50

Błaszczak:

No Competition for National Prosecutor Can Be Held as the Position is Filled
- A competition for the position of national prosecutor cannot be held because this position is filled; there is no vacancy for this post. Minister Bodnar broke the law by, in a way, forcefully dismissing the national prosecutor, so it is difficult to agree with such blatant lawbreaking - Mariusz Błaszczak said at a press conference.

11:51

Tusk:

Canada and Poland Share Identical Stance on Key Geopolitical Issues

- It is a great satisfaction for me, after a longer break, to meet again with my dear friend and friend of Poland, the Prime Minister of Canada. We collaborated very intensively when I was President of the European Council. The topics were similar, but less dramatic. We worked together in exactly the same spirit on matters concerning Ukraine and Russia. At that time, the war seemed to be under control. We had the same allies and the same opponents on the international stage. I must say that on virtually every issue, we presented an identical stance, and I can state with satisfaction today that Canada and Poland share an identical position when it comes to the most important geopolitical issues, I am mainly thinking here about Russia's aggression against Ukraine - stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press briefing with the Prime Minister of Canada.

11:52

Tusk:

We Have at Least Several Ways to Significantly Increase Pressure on Russia

- Prime Minister Trudeau has just returned from Kyiv. I was there three weeks ago. We have a similar impression, similar intentions. Ukraine needs our help in the war with Russia, all Western countries should act very decisively. We have at least several ways to significantly increase pressure on Russia. Today we talked at length, among other things, about the assets of the Russian, the Russian central bank, frozen in Western banks and all over the world, including in Japan. A discussion is currently underway in Europe and in other countries on how to use these funds for Ukraine, for the reconstruction of Ukraine, and we present identical positions here - stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press briefing with the Prime Minister of Canada.

11:54

Błaszczak:

Let Tusk and Kosiniak-Kamysz Abandon Subservience and Fight for the EU Not to Adopt the Green Deal
- Donald Tusk's and Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz's parties, both these parties are part of the European People's Party, whose leader, German politician Manfred Weber, said that the Green Deal is precisely the European People's Party. So let Messrs. Tusk and Kosiniak-Kamysz abandon their subservience, if they are capable of it, and fight for the Green Deal not to be adopted by the European Union - stated Mariusz Błaszczak at a press conference.

11:55

Tusk:

We're Talking About $300 Billion That Could Be Used for Ukraine's War and Defense Against Russian Aggression

- We will be working with the Prime Minister, with our friends in Europe, in the USA, Japan so that decisions on the use of these funds for Ukraine and against Russian aggression, this seems like an obvious matter for us and something worth working on. We are talking, no less, about $300 billion that could be used for Ukraine's war and defense against Russian aggression - stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press briefing with the Prime Minister of Canada.

11:57

Błaszczak:

Scale of Irregularities in Visa Scandal Much Smaller Than Coalition of December 13 Tries to Portray
- The visa scandal is a situation that was identified by the Central Anticorruption Bureau when Law and Justice was in power. But the scale of these irregularities is much smaller than the coalition of December 13 is trying to present it. So, from irregularities, they are trying to create something of a larger scale - said Mariusz Błaszczak at a press conference.

12:02

Tusk:

We Await the Budapest Vote. There's a Real Chance Sweden Will Finally Become a Full NATO Member

- I hope today will also end with a positive conclusion. We are all waiting for the result of the vote in Budapest; there is a real chance that NATO will become a stronger organization and that Sweden will finally become a full member of NATO. We are talking about ratification by the Hungarian parliament. I will also discuss this tomorrow in Prague at the Visegrád Group meeting, and I will very openly argue with our partners here in the region about how necessary solidarity with Ukraine and solidarity of all, without exception, is. Canada and Poland are a great example of this – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press briefing with the Prime Minister of Canada.

12:17

Tusk:

We Must Achieve Defense Capabilities Exceeding Russia's in the Coming Months. Otherwise, the West Will Become the Next Victim of Russian Aggression.

We must, not in the coming years, but in the coming months, achieve defense capabilities, including regarding the production of ammunition and all kinds of weapons, that will exceed Russian capabilities. Otherwise, the West will become the next victim of Russian aggression and will not be able to help either Ukraine or itself. There is no reason why such wealthy states as Western states, as NATO member states, cannot collectively build defense capabilities that will surpass Russian capabilities. Poland will be very consistent on this matter – stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a press briefing with the Prime Minister of Canada.

12:35

Duda Ahead of Paris Visit: We Will Discuss the Situation in Ukraine and Security in Our Part of Europe

- We will discuss the situation in Ukraine, as well as security in our part of Europe and the security situation in general. So, security, security, and more security. I have said many times that this is my priority at the moment, and this will be the topic we discuss extensively today, further plans regarding support for Ukraine. This is part of a broader agenda that, I dare say, brings us closer to the NATO summit in Washington, meetings that will be held – stated President Andrzej Duda in a conversation with journalists.

13:47

Wawrzyk Refuses to Testify Before Parliamentary Committee
- For 5.5 years, serving as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, and for 4 years holding a parliamentary mandate, I have always adhered to the law and never broken it. [...] I would like to exercise my right [...] to refuse to testify - stated Piotr Wawrzyk before the investigative committee concerning the so-called visa scandal.

14:12

Kierwiński Discusses Border Situation with Ukrainian Interior Minister

The head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration (MSWiA), Marcin Kierwiński, held a phone conversation with the Ukrainian Minister of Internal Affairs, Ihor Klymenko. The topic of the discussions was the current situation at the border, as reported by the MSWiA.

15:50

Kobos:

The Visa Scandal is a Fact, I am One of Many Who Participated in It
- Until now, I have been presented in the public sphere as Edgar K., a criminal, perhaps even a convict, the director and simultaneously the actor of the visa scandal. A nationalist from the Świętokrzyskie region. Ladies and gentlemen, my name is Edgar Kobos, and today is the first time I have consented to the publication of my image - said Edgar Kobos before the investigative committee on the so-called visa scandal. - Today, in connection with the proceedings of the parliamentary investigative committee, I am speaking publicly for the first time on the matter dubbed the visa scandal by the media, because I believe that through the parliamentary committee, the public should have the opportunity to learn the truth about this scandal. The truth about a scandal that, according to some politicians, was not even a minor one. This scandal, however, is a fact, and I am one of many people who participated in it, and at the same time one of the few, perhaps even the only one, who currently has the courage to admit to their actions and try to face their consequences - he continued.

15:51

Kobos:

I have knowledge of the methods used by MFA headquarters staff to pressure consuls into issuing visas
- The scale of the visa scandal is not solely indicated by the number of visas issued. It is also evidenced by other actions, for example, legislative measures taken by Piotr Wawrzyk, or the creation of new institutions whose sole purpose was to significantly increase Poland's capacity to issue visas. I have knowledge of the behind-the-scenes process of establishing the Visa Decision Centre in Łódź, as well as the Consular Information Centre in Kielce. These two institutions were located in cities that are the electoral districts of two politicians who were instrumental in their creation, namely the former Minister of Foreign Affairs Zbigniew Rau and his deputy, Piotr Wawrzyk - Edgar Kobos stated before the investigative committee regarding the so-called visa scandal. - I also have knowledge regarding the methods and ways employed by individuals working at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters to pressure consuls stationed in diplomatic missions all over the world into issuing visas, and these individuals reported to Zbigniew Rau and Piotr Wawrzyk - he continued.

15:53

Kobos:

In my assessment, the leadership of the United Right attempted to cover up the visa scandal
- In my assessment, the political leadership of the United Right attempted to cover up the visa scandal, because in reality, it was the politicians of the United Right who could have benefited the most from it. Of course, I'm referring to the cover-up. Let's note that Piotr Wawrzyk only faced charges after the transfer of power to the coalition of October 15th, and this is significant. After all, this same Piotr Wawrzyk boasted in his interviews that he arranged visas not only for me, but also for others - said Edgar Kobos before the investigative committee for the so-called visa scandal.

15:57

Kobos:

After My Release from Custody, Unmarked Cars Appeared at My Home, Following Me and My Family

- Immediately after my release from investigative custody, unmarked cars appeared at my home, tracking both me and my family. Every time we left the property, I still don't know who they were. However, I know who had a political interest in this matter not coming to light and in me not going to the media to share my knowledge - said Edgar Kobos before the investigative committee for the so-called visa scandal.

15:59

Kobos:

Today I Confirm Abuses and Negligence in the Legalization of Foreigners' Residence in Poland

- Today I confirm the occurrence of abuses and negligence in the process of legalizing the stay of foreigners in Poland, and generally in the visa issuance system, which was overseen by Zbigniew Rau and Piotr Wawrzyk. It was a flawed system, abuses occurred at various levels, including the lower ones. Many people knew about them, were aware - said Edgar Kobos before the parliamentary inquiry committee regarding the so-called visa affair.

16:06

Kobos:

I Declare a Willingness to Cooperate and a Desire to Help in Truly Clarifying the Entire Matter
I declare a willingness to cooperate and a desire to help in truly clarifying the entire matter. It might seem to some that I came to the committee meeting today with three attorneys unnecessarily. Until now, I have had the entire state apparatus against me, which, in my opinion, was not interested in truly clarifying the visa scandal and getting to the truth - said Edgar Kobos before the investigative committee for the so-called visa scandal.

16:15

Szczerba on Kobos' Interrogation: 'We Will See It Through to the End'
- [Witness Edgar Kobos] wants to testify in a closed session, he doesn't want to reveal the secrets of the proceedings, and therefore I have prepared the appropriate conditions so that he can testify in a closed session today. I declare very directly: we will see this interrogation through to the end. That is, until Edgar K. shares his full knowledge. I am ready to work until midnight today with the members of the majority coalition in the Sejm, that's what we agreed on. I want to say very clearly that I have the impression that at this moment we are only seeing the backstage, a glimpse of this affair. If it is indeed true, as Mr. Edgar claims, that other people influenced or could have influenced Piotr Wawrzyk, other members of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs leadership regarding bribery for visa purposes, then we want to know this information – stated Michał Szczerba in a conversation with journalists. - I believe that the situation he described is very disturbing. The information that he felt unsafe, that he knew he posed a threat to PiS, to the United Right during the election campaign. The information that he, his family, his household were being monitored. All of this shows that they were actually afraid that he might start talking to the media, that he might influence the election outcome – he continued.

17:45

Ministry of Justice Announces Candidate for National Public Prosecutor
- We have had 5 hours of very intensive discussion regarding the vision for the prosecutor's office in Poland. […] The team spent a full two hours discussing who is the best candidate among all those nominated. By a decision of the team, with a vote split of 4 to 3, our recommendation was given to Prosecutor Dariusz Korneluk - said Maria Ejchart at a press conference.

- The prosecutor received the highest evaluation from the team among the candidates nominated for the competition. What we evaluated was that Dariusz Korneluk has the most experience in leading teams at various levels of the prosecutor's office, that he knows the needs of different levels of the prosecutor's office, and that he also presented us with a broad and coherent vision, a concept for the prosecutor's office […] He was also the only one to speak about the importance of the prosecutor's office strategy during times of armed conflict - continued the chairperson of the team that conducted the hearings.

18:10

Bodnar:

We Want All Future Competitions for Various Positions to Be Transparent and Maximally Accessible to Interested Parties
- Today, something unprecedented happened at the Ministry's headquarters, namely, a competition committee convened to select a candidate for National Prosecutor. […] We are trying in the activities of the Ministry of Justice to show that we care very much about transparency and openness. We care about making decisions in a way that is as accessible as possible to citizens - said Adam Bodnar at a press conference. - As a result of the selection made, I will submit the appropriate motion to the Prime Minister. I would also like to declare […] that all subsequent competitions for various positions will be conducted in a similar manner, guided precisely by the principle of transparency and maximum accessibility of these competition procedures for interested individuals - he continued.

We are two years behind on spending KPO funds; by 2026, we must implement 55 reforms and 55 investments

- We are two years behind on spending KPO funds, and we are also behind on coherence. By 2026, we must implement 55 reforms and 55 investments. I have no idea where this assessment comes from, but in my opinion, it is unfounded. There is a delay because for two years, the majority of investments and reforms were not undertaken, whereas we need to accelerate enormously. What we are doing now, besides unlocking these funds and enabling action, is being on the verge of revising the KPO so that we can implement this project. It's not just about spending the money, but also investing it, because that's what the KPO is about – stated Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz in the "Afternoon Conversation" on RMF FM.

Farmers have the right to protest, but I warn them against being drawn into the anti-Ukrainian Russian narrative

- Farmers have the right to protest, they have every right to demand solidarity from the state, however, I warn them against being drawn into the anti-Ukrainian Russian narrative, against displaying anti-Ukrainian, God forbid, pro-Russian posters. This is against their interests and this must be spoken about openly – stated Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz in the "Afternoon Conversation" on RMF FM.

Polska 2050 and I Believe a Referendum is the Best Solution on Abortion

- Polska 2050 and I, personally as a citizen, have a deep conviction that the best solution regarding abortion is a referendum. This is the best solution because it is the solution with the broadest social legitimacy, it is the most politically effective, and it will lead to the most peaceful societal outcome - stated Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz in the "Afternoon Conversation" on RMF FM.

Czarzasty:

Farmers are right, but we won't introduce embargoes on any tractors tomorrow. We need to sit down at the table with farmers and Ukrainians
- The issue of transports from Ukraine. To be clear – this problem won't be solved within a week either. But note – if we want Ukraine to join the European Union – and we do, because it's in Poland's interest – then this problem must be solved entirely – said Włodzimierz Czarzasty in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on Polsat News’ “Gość Wydarzeń”. - Perhaps they made a mistake [politicians regarding opening the market for Ukrainian products]. Right now, we are in a situation where those who made mistakes must be pointed out and told 'don't do that', but at the moment, the problem needs to be solved – he continued. - No invasions of Warsaw will solve the problem. No quick actions will solve the problem. Reason and all sides must simply act here. We need to sit down at one table, with farmers, that's one thing, and with Ukrainians, that's two. Governments must sit down, they must develop mechanisms – he continued. - Farmers are right in this conflict, but we won't introduce embargoes and all the rules on any tractors tomorrow. It's uncomfortable in a tractor to introduce an embargo. We need to sit down and talk. There are situations in politics where there are no easy solutions – he stated. - Of course, I have both humility and reason in this matter. And that's why I say this: nothing will be solved tomorrow, but in 2-3 weeks, after serious talks, I think the Polish government will find a solution, at least in its relations with Ukraine – he added.

Czarzasty on Abortion: No Threat to the Coalition. Each of its 4 entities cares about its program
- There is no threat to the [ruling] coalition. But for clarity – each of the four entities that form the coalition is an entity in its own right. It has its program, it cares about its program, and it calls a spade a spade – Włodzimierz Czarzasty said on Polsat News's "Gość Wydarzeń". - Mr. Donald Tusk cares about his 100 concrete actions. Mr. Hołownia cares about his programmatic assumptions, Mr. Kosiniak too. Do Mr. Czarzasty, Mr. Zandberg, Ms. Biejat, Mr. Biedroń not have the right to care about their own matters? – he asked. - One of the fundamental things for the Left is women's rights. I am not blaming anyone, I am just calling it what it is. The time will come when we will vote on this law. Someone will be against it, someone will be for it. Whoever is against it will block this law – he continued.

Czarzasty on the Visa Scandal: Let Everyone Guilty Tremble
- The difference between us and PiS is that we do not pass judgment before a court. I can say this: let everyone who is guilty sit and tremble. I don't know if Mr. Wawrzyk is guilty or innocent, but I know one thing – in all these three commissions: in the Pegasus case, we will find out if they entered your bedroom, or not, through your phone. And in the case of the postal ballots, we will find out who misappropriated money illegally. And in this case too, we will find out – said Włodzimierz Czarzasty on Polsat News's "Gość Wydarzeń".
