Wednesday's Political Agenda: Tusk and Trzaskowski at Campus, Final Sejm Session of the Term, and Possible Verification Committee Elections; Duda at August Agreements Anniversary, Border Situation Briefing, Hołownia in Radom

At 10:00 AM, the Senate will resume its session and conduct votes on previously considered items. This includes the so-called competency act proposed by the President.

In Szczecin, President Andrzej Duda will participate in the 43rd anniversary commemorations of the signing of the August Agreements. At 10:30 AM, a ceremony will be held for the unveiling of the Monument to the Heroes of January '71, followed by the main commemorations at 12:00 PM.

At 12:00 PM, the Minister of the Interior and Administration, Mariusz Kamiński, will attend a briefing on the situation on the Polish-Belarusian border. The Minister of National Defence, Mariusz Błaszczak, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Zbigniew Rau, will also participate in the event. After the briefing concludes, the ministers will proceed to the town of Usnarz Górny. Statements to the media are planned for 1:00 PM.

The leader of Poland 2050 will visit Radom. An open meeting between Szymon Hołownia and the residents will begin at 5:00 PM.

At 5:15 PM, a special event will take place at Campus Polska Przyszłości – a debate between the Mayor of Warsaw, Rafał Trzaskowski, and the leader of PO, Donald Tusk.

The Sejm will resume its session at 6:00 PM with a one-hour voting block, during which the members of the so-called verification committee may be elected. Furthermore, MPs are expected to address the aforementioned Senate amendments.

Błaszczak:

If PO Politicians Return to Power, They Will Dismantle the Barrier. We Will Not Allow It

- Two years ago, a hybrid attack on Poland, controlled by the regimes of Putin and Lukashenko, began. Today, no one doubts that it was about destabilizing the situation in Poland. The PiS government has consistently ensured the security of our border from the very beginning. We have built a barrier that stops illegal migrants. The border is defended by soldiers, Border Guard officers, and police officers. They expose themselves to danger from migrants and Belarusian services, but also to insults from opposition politicians and affiliated celebrities - stated Mariusz Błaszczak in a recording published on social media.

- Today, the border is safe. And what was the opposition doing? They organized rallies with shopping bags. They organized happenings. Instead of defending soldiers and officers - they insulted them and sided with illegal migrants. And they announced the liquidation of the barrier. Do not delude yourselves that PO politicians will care about your safety. If they return to power, they will dismantle the barrier. We will not allow them to do that - he added.

Schetyna on the Verification Committee: It is Unconstitutional, We Will Vote Against It

- I will not [appear if summoned] because this committee is unconstitutional. Its establishment, the law that speaks about it, all of it is contrary to the law, to the Constitution. For now, we will be against it, because the vote will be this evening. We will be against the establishment of this committee, and we are not nominating any candidate from KO, the opposition - stated Grzegorz Schetyna on RMF FM.

08:19

Schetyna on Giertych: He Must Find a Good Answer

- I know that [Roman Giertych] will march [on October 1st], because he was at many protests and marches that we organized in 2016, 2017, in the previous term. He will be here too. The background, of course, is your question about whether he will run for the Sejm. I think everyone will understand that what is most important today is to be together, that all hands on deck, that the most important thing is to restore democracy, the rule of law, the fight for the rights of women and minorities, and to remove PiS from power - stated Grzegorz Schetyna on RMF FM.

- Yes, I have indeed heard that. He will be asked, urged, and of course, he must talk about it, and he will do so with his head held high. He is a person, a politician with great experience, and he wants to be in this parliament, to defeat PiS. I spoke with him 4 years ago when he wanted to run for the Senate. Today, the situation is even more difficult than 4 years ago, so I understand Giertych's decision - he continued.

- Let's give Roman Giertych a chance to say how he views this issue. I cannot imagine [that he won't], he simply must find a good answer here. This also, of course, stems from his arrangements made together with Chairman Tusk. The matter will be closed today - he added.

08:21

Schetyna:

Giertych Could Lead a Committee on Law and Justice

- Regarding Roman Giertych, I believe, for instance, that his candidacy for the Sejm makes more sense, because if, after a victorious election, we were to establish an investigative committee, a committee on law and justice, concerning what has happened over these 8 years, then Roman Giertych is precisely the excellent person who could lead such a committee - stated Grzegorz Schetyna on RMF FM.

08:29

Schetyna:

The Senate is not an endpoint for my political career

- The Senate is not an endpoint for my political career. I don't want to end my involvement in politics; I believe I still have many things to do - stated Grzegorz Schetyna on RMF FM.

Müller on the Election of Members to the Commission on Russian Influence: I Hope This Will Be on Today's Agenda
Today, a Sejm session is planned, candidacies were submitted yesterday, so I am counting on this [vote on the election of members to the commission on Russian influence] being on today's agenda [...] It always takes a few weeks for the commission to be constituted, for a chairman to be elected, and so on - said Piotr Müller in an interview with Grzegorz Kępka on Polsat News' "Graffiti". I don't know [if the commission will convene before the elections] and I don't think there is such a priority, but the commission itself will decide on this [...] I don't know what the spokesperson for the Commission has in mind [announcing legal steps in case the commission on Russian influence takes action in the context of the elections], but I am surprised that the European Commission is interfering in the elections in Poland once again. This commission aims to investigate potential Russian influence in recent years, I don't know what the European Commission finds objectionable in this regard - he continued.

08:34

Müller on the List of Free Medications: It Will Be Announced Today

- This will be announced today [...] during the day, this list [of free medications for youth and seniors] has been prepared over the past few weeks, so that it can be announced immediately after the law comes into effect and be binding from September - said Piotr Müller in Polsat News.

08:34

Müller on whether Kaczyński confused gross with net when announcing the 14th pension: "It's nonsense"

- It's nonsense [that Jarosław Kaczyński confused gross with net when announcing the amount of the 14th pension] [...] this idea was agreed upon with Prime Minister Morawiecki, Prime Minister Kaczyński announced what was supposed to be announced [...] maybe someone who wrote the tweet simply made a mistake, but the chairman's statement was clear, unambiguous, and was accepted as such by the government [...] I deny this information [that Jarosław Kaczyński misspoke and an additional 8 billion PLN had to be allocated for the 14th pension] and on the same day I spoke with the Prime Minister, we immediately confirmed this information, the amount to be transferred was known even before it was announced - said Piotr Müller on Polsat News.

08:35

Müller:

Tusk Said He's Invalidating the Referendum, So He's Now Not Just King of Europe, but the Supreme Court

- In Poland, there are procedures that determine who decides on the validity of both elections and referendums; it is the Supreme Court, and there is a procedure that defines this. I know there are people who think differently, for example, Donald Tusk. He has already invalidated the referendum in the name of the Supreme Court, he said publicly that he is invalidating this referendum, right? So Donald Tusk is now not only the King of Europe, but the Supreme Court - said Piotr Müller on Polsat News.

08:41

Schetyna:

I Don't Believe in Early Elections Within a Few Months

- I don't believe in early elections within a few months. I believe that the decisive moment, the political caesura, will be the presidential elections in 2025, that they will in a way close this parliamentary situation that will arise from the October 15th elections - stated Grzegorz Schetyna on RMF FM.

09:12

Przydacz on the Verification Commission: I Don't Really See Any Treaty Provisions Granting the EC Basis to Influence Such Institutions

- Frankly speaking, I don't know if this is important, relevant, or what the EC would wish for in this context. I don't really see any provisions of the EU Treaty or the Treaty on the Functioning of the EU that provide a basis for the EC to influence such institutions. The institution of the commission on Russian influence is important, it operates based on an act in accordance with Polish legislation. Moreover, the President said that he hopes it will start operating as quickly as possible, for a long time, and not just, as some called for, rather from the opposition side, that it should only take place in the format of a parliamentary inquiry committee, i.e., until the end of the parliamentary term - stated Marcin Przydacz in an interview with Marcin Fijołek on Poranek Siódma9.

09:16

Komorowski:

Let Miller Stop Praising Tusk, It Looks a Bit Like Overzealousness

- I value Leszek Miller's opinion, but I would refrain from making statements of this kind if I were him. What I just said about not crossing the aisle in sackcloth from the Left to democracy also applies to Leszek Miller. Let him stop praising Donald Tusk, because it looks a bit like overzealousness – stated Bronisław Komorowski on the program “Gość Radia Zet”.

09:17

Przydacz on Giertych: I'd like to see the faces of liberal-left elites. They'll have to smack their lips in admiration for his candidacy
To be honest, I look at the liberal-left circles, at Civic Coalition (KO) as a conglomerate of many people whose only common denominator is an anti-government stance, truly anti-Law and Justice (PiS), to put it simply. Anyone who attacks louder, more aggressively, and without mercy, not necessarily offering anything constructive, will find themselves on the lists - stated Marcin Przydacz on the Morning Siódma9 program. - Today, I would like to see the faces of all those representatives of the liberal-left elites who, in the 2000s, spared no criticism of Roman Giertych, calling him the worst ideologue, an obscurantist. Today, they will have to smack their lips in admiration for his candidacy. Conversely, I don't think the residents of the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, who are pragmatic and wise people, will be fooled into believing that a certain radical, aggressive lawyer from Warsaw, who actually lives abroad and faints at the sight of a Polish policeman, could convince them of anything - the presidential minister continued.

09:18

Komorowski on a Single List: Third Way and the Left Would Undoubtedly Lose Voters, and This is Happening

- Undoubtedly, in this scenario, Third Way and the Left would lose voters. And this is happening. The entire dynamic, the rising and falling ratings of the democratic opposition, can be read as them taking votes from each other. First, Hołownia took from PO, then PO took from Hołownia, and so on – stated Bronisław Komorowski on the program “Gość Radia Zet”.

09:20

Komorowski:

Giertych and Kołodziejczak Once Firmly Declared Against Abortion on Demand. I Hope the Gentlemen Showed Character and Did Not Yield to Pressure
Gentlemen [Giertych and Kołodziejczak] once declared themselves very firmly against abortion on demand. Tusk threatened that he would demand declarations on this matter, that one is a supporter of abortion on demand at almost any moment. I hope both gentlemen showed character and did not yield to pressure – stated Bronisław Komorowski on the program "Gość Radia Zet".

09:41

Sawicki on the Russian Influence Commission: The Goal is to Stigmatize
- Let's be clear: no one will interrogate anyone before the elections. I emphasize again, in my assessment, it will only involve the establishment of this entire commission, the presentation of topics, and the identification of individuals. The President himself said in the justification that it is not about judging anyone, but in the subtext, I clearly understood that the goal is to stigmatize - said Marek Sawicki in an interview with Dariusz Wieczorkowski on Radio Wrocław.

09:41

Sawicki on Tusk as a Prime Ministerial Candidate: 'It's Natural That the Winner Becomes the Candidate'
- It's natural that the candidate for prime minister is the one who wins. We, as Third Way, will strive to achieve the best result. I wouldn't prejudge who will win these elections, but it is a tradition of democratic parties, democratic in our country, that generally presidents appoint the leader of the winning party to form a government - said Marek Sawicki on Radio Wrocław.

09:42

Sawicki:

I Won't Participate in the Referendum Because It's Not About Present or Future Matters
- I will not participate because this is not a referendum about present or future matters. This is a referendum that people have already decided in previous elections, but I will not discourage anyone from participating in this vote either. I again believe in the wisdom of Poles; I believe they know what decisions to make - Marek Sawicki said on Radio Wrocław.

09:53

Komorowski on PO leader's abortion declaration: I see Giertych and Kołodziejczak's situation as a chance for Tusk to withdraw from such a position
If this kind of declaration is made, then I sympathize with the entire group, because it means the entire group agrees to violate consciences. I do not accept this, and I do not like it at all. I see the situation with Giertych and Kołodziejczak perhaps as a chance for Donald Tusk to withdraw from such a position. Which I would very much wish for PO - stated Bronisław Komorowski on the program "Gość Radia Zet".

09:58

Kukiz:

I thought after the changes initiated by the President, the opposition would also change its mind on this commission

- I thought that after these changes, which the President brought about, changing this law, the opposition would also change its mind regarding this commission [...]. This is probably a more political move right now, to show that Law and Justice is coming out with a good face, that this commission exists and so on. If it comes to such a situation that they will appoint it, and they will appoint it because Law and Justice has a majority even without my vote – stated Paweł Kukiz in an interview with Beata Michniewicz in the program “Salon Polityczny Trójki” on PR3.

- It's practically September in two weeks, after September, meaning in 6 weeks we have elections, this commission is not able to do it, and the election results can be varied here – he added.

10:01

Kukiz:

It's Hard to Speak of Full Democracy When Citizens Cannot Directly Ask Their Own Questions

- This stance, this symbolic [rejection of the referendum] by Donald Tusk, absolutely doesn't surprise me. Just recall that in 2004, Donald Tusk himself collected signatures for his own referendum proposal, the '4xtak' [four times yes]. He gathered the 550,000 citizen signatures needed to initiate, strive for, and aspire to have a referendum called by the Sejm. He brought these signatures to the Sejm, and then they were ground up. Later, when Civic Platform regained power, when they had the opportunity to implement these '4xtak' postulates, meaning the will of at least 750,000 people, these postulates were not implemented - stated Paweł Kukiz on the program "Salon Polityczny Trójki" on PR3.

- It's hard to speak of full democracy, of a true democratic state, in a situation where citizens cannot directly ask their own questions and vote themselves. They must always do it through politicians, and politicians will throw inconvenient questions, whether from the left or the right, into the trash because they have that option. And until the people understand this, they will simply live as they live - he emphasized.

10:04

Kukiz:

There's a verbal agreement. I have no reason not to believe the chairman's assurances it will also be signed and adopted into the program.

- If pro-citizen postulates are included in the United Right's program, then there will probably be a third [tabloid] [...]. This is such an electoral system that it doesn't currently sin with any arrogance, but believe me, this is an electoral system where number one means a 98% probability that a given so-called delinquent, a candidate who is a party candidate and not a people's candidate, will enter the Sejm - stated Paweł Kukiz in the program “Salon Polityczny Trójki” on PR3.

- Paweł Kukiz, until these pro-citizen postulates, for which he has been fighting for at least 23 years, precisely since 2000, since the presidential elections and the candidacy of Jan Olszewski, who among other things had single-member constituencies in his platform, are 100% guaranteed. When I have these postulates, then I will talk specifically about my place. Believe me, I give you my most sacred word of honor, I have never asked the chairman for anything in return for this or that vote - he continued.

- There is a verbal [agreement]. However, I have no reason not to believe the chairman's assurances that it will also be signed and introduced into the program, and this is precisely where the dog is buried. Whether it's only into the Law and Justice program, or into the United Right's program. I will see the chairman today and I hope to convince him of the second option, of the program of the entire United Right, and not just Kukiz'15, Law and Justice - he added.

10:10

Szynkowski vel Sęk: Tusk is Lying. There's No Way to Unblock KPO Funds in a Single Day
- This statement is important [that Tusk will go the day after the elections and unblock KPO funds], it's good that it resonates because it confirms two issues. Firstly, that Donald Tusk is not telling the truth, because there is not even a technical possibility to do anything about it in one day or in a week. [...] Submitting the application and its review by the European Commission takes at least two months - said Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk in an interview with Jacek Prusinowski on "Sedno Sprawy" on Radio Plus. - I don't think he's unaware of these mechanisms, therefore he is deliberately misleading people. […] On this matter, yes, Donald Tusk is not telling the truth. There is no possibility to unblock the KPO in one day - he declared.

10:13

Szynkowski vel Sęk: Tusk Admits KPO Funds Are Blocked for Political Reasons
- With this statement, Donald Tusk admits that PO [Civic Platform] has effectively blocked these funds for Poland through manipulative spin, by initiating resolutions in the European Parliament… creating the impression that a major violation of the rule of law is occurring here, and that this is a political mechanism. In short, Donald Tusk admits that these funds are blocked for political reasons – said Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk on Radio Plus’s „Sedno Sprawy” (The Heart of the Matter).

10:46

Szynkowski vel Sęk: I am confident that when the United Right wins the elections, KPO funds will flow to Poland
- These funds [from the KPO] will reach Poland. [...] I am confident that when the United Right wins the elections, this political lever, which [...] in my opinion is being used to influence the election outcome, will no longer be relevant, and these funds will flow to Poland - said Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk in the "Sedno sprawy" program on Radio Plus.

10:50

Szynkowski vel Sęk: Poland's Failure to Implement EU Drinking Water Directive Does Not Affect Legionella Testing
- This information is true, but it is worth clarifying that the non-implementation of this very broad legal act [EU drinking water directive] has no bearing on the regulations in force since 2017, the regulation of the Ministry of Health, which indicates the criteria for testing samples for the presence of this bacterium. Therefore, there are already regulations in place today that allow for appropriate sample testing - said Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk in "Sedno Sprawy" on Radio Plus. - The majority of EU countries, due to the characteristics and very broad subject matter of this legal act, have not implemented it. A total of 20 countries have not yet implemented this legal act as they are conducting analyses, and Poland is among these countries. However, this does not affect water testing for the presence of legionella bacteria in any way at the moment - he continued. - The fact that we are still conducting work at the moment, because these legislative works are underway, and this draft law has already passed the Committee for European Affairs, has no bearing on consumer safety - he added.

11:40

The Left Will Not Participate in the Russian Influence Commission. 'Illegal Things Must Be Condemned'
- The Left strongly and clearly emphasizes: we will not participate in the work of this commission because it is illegal in nature, and illegal things must be condemned, not given new fuel. We will not nominate any individuals there, nor will we appear or recommend to individuals associated with our circles that they do not appear before this commission – said Krzysztof Gawkowski at a press conference. - In reality, this commission will be like a big garden hose spewing sewage. Sewage on all those who may threaten Law and Justice. [...] The Polish Constitution does not know such solutions – said Krzysztof Śmiszek.

12:00

Obajtek:

Poland's Energy Security is Our Top Priority
Poland's energy security is of paramount importance to us. Of course, business is important, but above all, it is Poland's security. That's why we created a multi-energy concern that is meant to provide us with security and which, through all our actions, does provide us with security. Through exceptionally difficult, unstable times, through the pandemic, through the war which has a very significant impact on raw material policy and on hydrocarbons. Security above all else for supplies, for infrastructure – I'm talking about the entire logistics, production infrastructure, and the exploration of our own resources. This requires financial means, a certain strategy, which we are consistently implementing – stated Daniel Obajtek during the conference "Development Plans of the ORLEN Group in the Area of Energy Security". - In our strategy, we are already spending PLN 70 billion over 7 years, but we are investing over 7 years primarily in exploration and extraction in Poland. This amounts to PLN 17.5 billion. These are the largest investment processes in the field of exploration and extraction in Poland. We are investing PLN 49 billion in extraction in Norway. We are also investing the remainder in extraction in Pakistan and Canada. Ten months ago, we took over the PGNiG group, building a multi-energy concern – he continued.

12:54

Obajtek:

Expansion of the Wierzchowice Gas Storage Facility Will Increase National Storage Capacity by 25%, Exceeding 4 Billion Cubic Meters
– We are investing to guarantee uninterrupted gas supplies for Polish families and businesses. Thanks to the expansion of the Wierzchowice storage facility, the total capacity of national gas storage will increase by as much as 25 percent and will exceed 4 billion cubic meters. This is equivalent to the amount consumed by all households in Poland over approximately 10 months. With such a reserve, we will be better prepared for potential supply disruptions from abroad or a sudden increase in demand during severe frost periods. Consequently, the expansion of storage facilities aligns with our strategic goal of strengthening the country's energy security. We are not only increasing our gas storage capabilities but also investing in our own extraction in Poland and Norway, signing further contracts for raw material purchases, and expanding our fleet of LNG transport vessels – said Daniel Obajtek, CEO of ORLEN.

13:05

Duda:

We are today on the final, perhaps most crucial straight that ultimately led us to a free Poland

14:19

Kamiński:

Our soldiers and officers are defending Europe from the chaos that the dictators in Minsk and Moscow intend to unleash
- Next Friday, exercises and maneuvers of the Belarusian army will begin on the other side. We know that units of the Russian Federation army will participate in these maneuvers. The scale of these maneuvers will probably not be astounding given the Russians' involvement in the bloody war in Ukraine, but in reality, these maneuvers are an element of psychological warfare. Psychological warfare directed, among other things, at Poland and our citizens - stated Mariusz Kamiński during a press briefing in Usnarz Górny. - We are here on site, we spoke with commanders, we spoke with chiefs of police. We know that our services, our military, cooperate excellently. They support each other in solidarity, with full respect, with full commitment. We are very proud of our officers, of our soldiers. We also came to thank them for their exemplary fulfillment of their service - he continued. - We analyzed the situation. This situation is full of threats, but we will overcome them. Just as we overcame the wave of illegal migration, which our country's opponents and the opponents of the free world - I mean Putin and Lukashenka here - wanted to flood Europe with two years ago precisely with a wave of chaos, the chaos of state collapse. We did not allow this, we defended our borders, and we will defend our borders - the head of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration continued. - We have brave soldiers, such brave officers, and the support of ordinary, normal Poles. Poles who want Poland to be safe, who want to live in a safe place. This is precisely why our soldiers, our officers are here [...]. They guard the integrity, they guard the sovereignty of our country. In reality, they are the bulwark of Europe. They defend Europe, because these are the external borders of Europe. They defend Europe from the chaos that the dictator in Minsk and the dictator in Moscow intend to unleash upon them - he added.

14:28

Błaszczak:

Besides the Belarusian attack, we dealt with happenings staged by the opposition
- Unfortunately, besides - and I say this with sadness - besides that attack from the Belarusian side, we were dealing with happenings staged by circles connected with the political opposition. It was precisely here that a certain MP conducted a raid with a shopping bag. It was precisely here that two other MPs from Civic Platform (PO) were staging a happening in the form of an attempted pizza delivery. These events, the ones that took place here two years ago, led to one of the PO MPs appealing to the Polish authorities to let these people in, and then it will turn out who they are. Our task is to protect the Polish border, and therefore the Polish border will be protected – stated Mariusz Błaszczak during a press briefing in Usnarz Górny. - The Polish border is and will be protected thanks to the Polish government, which has ensured that there is a fence on the border – he emphasized.

14:30

Błaszczak:

The Nation Stands United Behind the Polish Uniform. We Will Not Allow Poland to Be Destabilized
- Unfortunately, there are also people. Strange people perhaps, who are unaware of the consequences of their actions, who attack the soldiers of the Polish Army and Polish officers. The most important thing, ladies and gentlemen, is that the government stands united behind the Polish uniform, and what's more: the nation stands united behind the Polish uniform. So, despite these shouts, despite all these attempts to fit into the Kremlin scenario, despite people who give the impression of cooperating with Putin, as if helping Putin, despite all of this, we will defend the Polish border, because we will not allow Poland to be destabilized, and this is our main task – stated Mariusz Błaszczak during a media briefing in Usnarz Górny.

15:07

Budka:

We Demand Kaczyński Provide Information to the Sejm on Three Key Areas for Poles' Security
- The Civic Coalition (KO) parliamentary club has formally requested the Sejm Marshal to submit three motions to Prime Minister Jarosław Kaczyński, to the Deputy Prime Minister, demanding he provide information to the Sejm at this session on three key areas crucial for the security of Poles - said Borys Budka at a press conference in the Sejm. - Firstly, the issue of omissions regarding the implementation of a European directive and, consequently, the epidemic threat of Legionella. We demand explanations as to what actions the government has taken in this regard and who is responsible for these omissions - he continued. - The second matter [...] concerns the involvement of special forces and uniformed services on the side of the government and PiS's campaign, which unfortunately has resulted in a threat to the health and lives of Polish citizens. We saw this clearly at the picnic organized in Mr. Wąsik's constituency - he went on. - A third, outrageous matter, an issue on which this government has been silent for several days, namely the lack of protection for railway infrastructure, the lack of proper action from the government, and the great danger being brought upon travelers [...]. The silence following the arrest of a high-ranking Police official is significant - he further listed. - We demand that Jarosław Kaczyński explain himself before the high chamber in these three areas - he concluded.

15:24

Budka on the Commission for Russian Influence: Simply Sitting on this Illegal Body Will Result in Criminal Liability
- This commission [for examining Russian influence] is illegal. It's essentially a politburo where individuals with questionable backgrounds, questionable qualifications, united by one common denominator: working for PiS propaganda, [...] will be engaged in attacking Donald Tusk - Borys Budka stated at a press conference in the Sejm.

- No decent person can participate in the work of this commission. [...] Naturally, we will not lend a hand in selecting any of these individuals [candidates]. I would remind you that these are 9 people who have signed up for an illegal commission, and the mere fact of sitting on this illegal body will already result in criminal liability, even if they believe the provisions of this law do not allow for it - he continued.

- By agreeing to run for such a commission, each of these individuals has effectively signed a declaration of belonging to PiS and a declaration of violating the Polish constitution and law. I believe that history, and sooner, the prosecutor, will hold them accountable for this - he added.

15:58

Morawiecki:

Free Medications Possible Thanks to Reformed Public Finances System

- The medication act, which will allow many more people to receive medications for free, especially those in more difficult financial situations, meaning our seniors, our grandmothers, grandfathers, who can no longer earn extra. They cannot work overtime and earn more, because they have already worked a lot in their lives [...] This program, which we implemented a few years ago, 75+, meaning free medications for seniors over 75 years of age, is being expanded. We are expanding it in such a way that it covers all seniors who have reached the age of 65, but also because the budgets of young married couples, young families are sometimes strained by the purchase of medications, antibiotics for children in case of misfortune, like chronic illnesses affecting families. Therefore, in this act, in line with earlier promises, we have also introduced the possibility of receiving free medications for children from birth to 18 years of age, i.e., until the child becomes a young person - stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki during a Facebook Live session.

- Altogether, when we look at the number of medications available, we are talking about nearly 4,000 for seniors, 3,800 medications. This is much more than before. I will add that the range of medications has been expanded. And for children, hundreds more, certainly over 1,000 medications are also free. Together, this adds up to a number exceeding 4,000 free medications, for sure - emphasized PMM.

- This is possible thanks to the fact that the reformed system of public finances allows for the allocation of a larger pool of funds precisely to healthcare, and I have already spoken about these record expenditures on healthcare. We also want to implement this act on free medications earlier, from September, so that people can benefit from free medications as quickly as possible, even before the autumn season - he added.

15:59

Morawiecki:

Closing Police Stations, Dismantling Military Units – That Was Civic Platform's Philosophy

- Over 600 organizational units, but among them serious, large military units were being closed down by the Civic Platform government and Mr. Klich, Siemoniak, ministers of national defense, who emphasize that yes, these units were being liquidated. At this spot, I refer to that spot. You can hear there that they were carrying out Prime Minister Tusk's orders. That was the strategy, that was the philosophy of Civic Platform. Closing police stations, they closed over 400 police stations and dismantling military units – stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki during a Facebook Live session.

- I encounter opinions from generals, but I also know about documents that, in fact, state that the defense doctrine of the Republic of Poland involved retreating and defending the Vistula line, meaning a significant part of our country, a large portion of our country, would very quickly find itself under Russian occupation. And this is something that is absolutely unacceptable – he added.

16:01

Morawiecki:

Consider How Poland Would Look After 2 Years Without the Barrier

- Security is the foundation and the beginning of everything. That is why we are allocating such high amounts from the budget, from the repaired Polish state budget, to internal security, to the police, to the Border Guard, to the State Fire Service, but also to the Polish Army, specifically to the external borders and for the defense of external borders, so that all Poles can sleep soundly. So that they know that we will defend Polish borders – stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki during a Facebook Live.

- Around this time, two years have passed since Lukashenka's attack on Poland's eastern border, through which he wanted to expose its weakness. A few months later, Donald Tusk said that the barrier we decided to build would not be erected within a year, nor within three years. Representatives of Civic Platform insulted the Polish uniform, they encouraged the opening of these borders. So now, all esteemed ladies and gentlemen, both supporters of Law and Justice and opponents, please consider. How would Poland look after these 2 years if the barrier hadn't existed. If the Civic Platform's policy had been one of allowing illegal migration dictated from Brussels. If it had been a policy of admitting illegal migrants from Belarus. Lukashenka was preparing tens of thousands more. I spoke with the Prime Minister of Iraq at the time, I know perfectly well what Lukashenka was planning. Through diplomatic actions at the prime ministerial and ministerial levels, we managed to stop this large influx, but above all, we stopped this large influx with our decisive counteraction against the provocations of Lukashenka and Putin – added PMM.

Bochenek on the Appointment of the Commission on Russian Influence: Today We Will Supplement Our List of Candidates with Another Person

- From the very beginning, we wanted to establish a commission on Russian influence in Poland. We believe it should be created. There was a specific deadline set by Madam Marshal Witek for submitting candidacies until 8 PM yesterday. As PiS, we submitted our representatives to this commission. I know that indeed one of the professors changed his decision and resigned, but I also know that we will nominate another candidate in his place, because we have a great many candidates and willing individuals, specialists who know this area very well. The deadline set by Madam Marshal is until 4:30 PM, and today we will supplement our list of candidates with another person – stated Rafał Bochenek at a press conference.

PiS Promotes Referendum and Points Out PO's Raising of Retirement Age:

We Know Perfectly Well What This Threatens.
It so happens that one of the questions in the referendum, scheduled for October 15th, concerns the potential increase of the retirement age from the current level of 60 years for women and 65 for men to a higher threshold. We in PiS have had a very clear stance on this matter from the beginning. However, over recent months and years, we have witnessed many different, very controversial, and ambiguous declarations and statements made by politicians, especially from the opposition – PO, formerly Nowoczesna, PSL, and other factions in this regard. Therefore, today we want to say: the masks have fallen, but the most important things in politics are actions, not words. And these actions in politics are votes, and based on the votes of individual politicians, we can verify their true intentions – stated Rafał Bochenek at a press briefing in the Sejm. - In 2012, when the entire society was protesting very strongly and rebelling against raising the retirement age for both women and men to 67 years, I would like to remind you that Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, as well as the entire PO, raised the retirement age for women working in agriculture by as much as 12 years. The entire society protested against this decision. Despite this and in defiance of it, PO raised the retirement age. Bronisław Komorowski, as well as other leaders, assured before the parliamentary campaign that they had no such intentions, did not plan to raise the retirement age, and one of the first decisions they effectively implemented, against the will of Polish society, was precisely the raising of the retirement age – the PiS spokesperson continued. - This decision shows that these politicians are not trustworthy. Because not only in 2012, when they voted for the decision to raise the retirement age, did they detach themselves from their electoral promise, but also in 2016, when a law concerning the reduction of this harmful decision and its reversal was voted upon, these politicians, who stand behind us today, did not support this decision; they did not vote for lowering the retirement age – he added. - We know perfectly well what this threatens. It threatens that, God forbid, if they come to power, we will once again face similar decisions and will simply have to protest. Therefore, let's participate in the referendum on October 15th and make the right decision; let's vote 4 times NO – emphasized Bochenek.

Giertych speaks out on abortion law:

If elected, I will be a loyal and disciplined member of the party.
Since everyone has already voiced their opinions on my views on abortion, it's my turn. I haven't changed my stance on this issue. I consider abortion to be wrong, although sometimes permissible (e.g., in a state of necessity). I consider Przyłębska's ruling to be non-existent, wrong, stupid, and having only tragic consequences. This tragedy has affected women, but has also changed the views of a large part of society. Unauthorized individuals participated in issuing this ruling, so legally it does not exist. In reality, Jarosław Kaczyński issued it - wrote Roman Giertych on Twitter. "Not every abortion must be penalized. In this regard, I refer to the article of my uncle, Wojciech Giertych - Theologian of the Papal Household to two Popes, published above. He rightly writes that the scope of this penalization is a matter for reasonable discourse and political responsibility. In my opinion, there are abortions that absolutely should be penalized (e.g., the extreme and recently loud idea of some Lewica candidates to allow abortion at birth) and those that certainly should not be penalized. The scope of this penalization, in my opinion, is best captured by the Constitutional Tribunal ruling issued years ago by the doyen of the current opposition, Prof. Andrzej Zoll. It was a functioning compromise that satisfied no one, but it endured and protected us from conflict on these issues. Unfortunately, this compromise was destroyed by Kaczyński. However, these elections are not about terminating pregnancies, but about removing a group of thieves who are violating the Constitution from power. If this removal fails, then worldview discussions will be led by Czarnek (the liberal option) and Rydzyk (the conservative option). The rest will not matter. Donald Tusk is the leader of the opposition, and only he can win against PiS. No one else has any chance of doing so. I have agreed with Chairman Donald Tusk on a specific task that I am to perform as a candidate for the Sejm. As he himself said, we have different views, but we have a common goal – to remove PiS from power, and I have undertaken to run against the leader of PiS. I am undertaking this fight for the country, but also for my girls. As my daughter Karolina said yesterday: I have four women at home, and no one will outdo me in fighting for their rights, for their comfort, for their safety, for the state to take the best care of them, and so that no vile policeman or prosecutor intrudes into their private matters. After the elections, if I am elected, I will be a loyal and disciplined member of the party. This is obvious, as politics is a team game. And I have a request for the journalists: let's focus, for example, on the fact that Kaczyński announced the liquidation of independent courts, instead of searching for differences within the broadly constituted team of Civic Coalition candidates. We are a broad group because we encompass the views present throughout the opposition. Only such a broad coalition has a chance of victory. And we are going for that victory!"

New PiS Candidate for Verification Commission

The PiS parliamentary club has nominated Józef Brynkus as a candidate for the so-called verification commission – the State Commission for the Examination of Russian Influence on the Internal Security of the Republic of Poland between 2007 and 2022.

Previously, Marek Czeszkiewicz withdrew his candidacy. The selection of members will take place today, in a voting block after 6 PM.

Tusk:

There's Another Chapter of the So-Called 'Lex Tusk,' So They'll Want to Hunt Me Down
- While we are talking here, there is another chapter of the so-called 'Lex Tusk' unfolding, so they will want to hunt me down. You can imagine that I also have a personal motivation not to be hunted down, but that is secondary. In reality, I would really like for no one else in Poland to have a chance to be hunted down - Donald Tusk said at the Campus.

17:46

Tusk:

Silesian as a Regional Language Will Be Addressed, It's in Our Program
- I don't know if there's a colleague who asked me, and in a very strong Silesian way, if I would sort out the Silesian regional language. [...] Thanks to this meeting, in Silesia, I met with many activists, local government officials, cultural figures, and we have included it in our program – the Silesian regional language will be sorted out – said Donald Tusk during Campus Polska Przyszłości. - This has all come together for me, Rafał, our entire group, into the project "100 Specifics for the First 100 Days". From a wide range of areas – he announced.

17:48

Tusk Announces "100 Specifics for 100 Days" on PiS Convention Day

- We will present 100 specifics for 100 days in September, on September 9th, but first, we must make this great change, and here I earnestly ask you. I am a faithful student of that Wałęsa from those past years, who was obsessed with the need to win, that one cannot give up, be a soft-hearted idealist, that this is a serious, difficult fight, a heavy labor. One must use various methods. So I want to tell you that I will do everything to win, not to arrange your lives, so that the freedom and democracy for which my generation fought will also be your share – stated Donald Tusk during the Poland of the Future Campus.

17:50

Tusk:

Partnership Unions a Priority, Task for the First 100 Days

- I want to honestly tell you that this commitment, regarding partnership unions, seems achievable to me and I consider it a priority, a task for the first 100 days. Same-sex marriages with all their resulting consequences and controversies are a much more difficult project, and I'm not sure if a majority will be found for that in the next Sejm – stated Donald Tusk during Campus Polska Przyszłości.

18:11

Tusk:

Some of You Feel Uncomfortable About Giertych's Spot? So Do I, But Kaczyński Feels More So
- Kaczyński fled from me and wanted to hide in the Świętokrzyskie Mountains. Giertych writes to me: 'I'll have many surprises for him, I could decide, even from the last spot, I'll catch him there' - Donald Tusk said during Campus Polska Przyszłości (Campus of Polish Future). - One must be smart, ruthless, faster, look for maneuvers, stratagems, not rest for a second, and not let them rest. Do some of you feel uncomfortable about this last spot for Roman Giertych? I'll tell you this: I do too. But Kaczyński feels more so. People, the calculation is simple - he continued.

18:15

Tusk:

Giertych Told Me – I'd Rather Resign Than Break KO Voting Discipline
- Roman Giertych will not influence our policies on education or women's rights. He has his views, and I don't want anyone to change their views. Today, he publicly declared, and previously committed to me: if he enters parliament, and if we want to have him with us, he will adhere to voting discipline - Donald Tusk stated during Campus Polska Przyszłości. - He told me something that, frankly, I probably shouldn't say, but you are asking, so I will: I would rather resign my mandate than break the Civic Coalition's voting discipline - he added.

18:27

Tusk on Abortion up to 12th Week of Pregnancy: A Bill Will Be Presented Within the First 100 Days
- I do not expect candidates of Civic Coalition to all stand in one line and say they are proponents of abortion, or that they love abortion, or that they consider abortion in every week or month of pregnancy a basic woman's right. Don't be angry, but let's be precise, I know how many people on the lists have a slightly different view on this matter, but I also know that each of them has committed to adhering to discipline - said Donald Tusk at the Campus. - The priority of Civic Platform and Civic Coalition, and this will be a bill presented to the Sejm within the first 100 days [of government], is a woman's right to decide on terminating a pregnancy up to the 12th week. I will not engage in discussions and debates about whether abortion on demand in the 9th month should be penalized or not, because that is not the subject of our internal reflection - he continued. - I have committed and will see this project through to the end; it is not delightful for everyone, for some it is too radical, for some it is insufficient - he went on to say.

18:42

Tusk:

PiS is the Most Murderous Party in the EU
- Democracy is a very difficult and demanding cultivation. It requires diligence, and in times of threat, also the fighting spirit of those who see value in democracy. Democracy will not defend itself – neither through constitutional provisions, nor through written laws, nor through media ethics councils. As you can see, even independent courts can very quickly become dependent on power and also do not guarantee democratic standards if people stop caring about democracy – said Donald Tusk during Campus Polska Przyszłości. - There is no other mechanism for defending democracy than the constant vigilance and readiness of citizens for daily work towards maintaining democracy. In the Soviet Union, the constitution had so many beautiful democratic provisions that you would never believe it. Stalin himself devised these provisions – he continued. - But why go back to history? Do you know what the most murderous party in the EU is called? Shall I remind you? Law and Justice. And it certainly has dozens of mechanisms for law and justice written into its programs and statutes – he continued.

18:47

Tusk on TVP Info's Actions: Criminal in Nature
- TVP Info, I will say only one sentence to you. Few people realize, because apparently no one has said it out loud and directly yet, the practice of government, PiS media, what they do every day, is not only a violation of the principles of decency, it is not only an insult to democracy or a lie, a permanent lie flowing from morning till evening, it is also activity of a criminal nature. We have in the Constitution, and in laws and in detailed regulations concerning public media, obligations for officials and employees of public media, which are constantly broken by them from morning till evening - said Donald Tusk at the Campus. - This is not just a problem of changes in public television, the liquidation of this propaganda rag that TVP Info is, it is also part of accountability, both legal and, for some, criminal responsibility for what they have done with public media - he continued.

19:02

Budka:

You Want to Fight Putin's Influence with Putin's Methods. Those Who Implemented Putin's Agenda for 7 Years Will Face the Commission

- You want to fight Putin's influence with Putin's methods, but in reality, those who have been implementing Putin's agenda in Poland for the past 7 years will face this commission, a true commission to investigate Russian influence. Your Minister of Defence will face it, who dismissed experienced NATO generals from the army, and did so through the hands of a common criminal. The minister overseeing state assets will face it, who led to the construction of Ostrołęka, throwing 1.5 billion PLN into the drain just to import Russian coal. Finally, the prime ministers who led to you making Polish energy dependent on coal from the East will face it - stated Borys Budka in the Sejm.

- And finally, the prime minister who, just a few weeks before the aggression on Ukraine, was building a pro-Putin international with Salvini, Orban, and Le Pen will face this commission - he added.

19:19

Sejm Elects Members of Verification Commission

Members of parliament have elected 9 members to the State Commission for the Investigation of Russian Influence on the Internal Security of the Republic of Poland in the years 2007-2022:

– Andrzej Zybertowicz
– Michał Wojnowski
– Marek Szymaniak
– Arkadiusz Puławski
– Andrzej Kowalski
– Łukasz Cięgotura
– Sławomir Cenckiewicz
– Józef Brynkus
– Przemysław Żurawski vel Grajewski

The opposition did not nominate its candidates for the commission and did not participate in the votes (with the exception of Konfederacja, whose majority of MPs voted against).

19:59

Hołownia on Kaczyński: He'd Definitely Get Beaten in Warsaw
- In Warsaw, he would definitely get beaten [Jarosław Kaczyński], because here Donald Tusk, and also Sławomir Mentzen, we have a strong slate, it wouldn't be the shining Kaczyński he wants to be, but it's some kind of, I would say, a bit desperate pragmatism, because in politics, symbols are also important. When you enter a fight at your home turf, after all, he's from Warsaw, you should have a drive for the goal and want to win. Meanwhile, he pragmatically flees to Świętokrzyskie, where he will probably gather a lot of votes, and his presence will also mean more for the list [...] but that's how a coward behaves, that's how someone who walks off the field behaves - said Szymon Hołownia in a conversation with Grzegorz Kajdanowicz on the program "Fakty po Faktach" on TVN24. - Kaczyński knows that this is probably the twilight of his political project, because even if PiS is strong in the next Sejm, it won't be the same PiS, and there will be no return to those eight years - he continued.

20:04

Hołownia:

Removing Kaczyński from Power Isn't Appealing Enough for Half of Poles Who Don't Vote
- If we only promise people the removal of Kaczyński from power, that is not attractive enough for half of Poles who do not vote today, because if it were attractive, they would vote. We must show them the next step, something further, some perspective, and start solving real problems – said Szymon Hołownia on TVN24.

20:11

Mentzen on the Commission Investigating Russian Influence: It Has Only One Sole Task – To Further Increase Polarization Between Tusk and Kaczyński
We do not take this commission seriously. It is a disgrace to our state, another attempt by PiS to use serious tools solely for campaign purposes. We do not support this in any way. This commission, just like the referendum, has only one sole task – to further increase polarization between Tusk and Kaczyński, between PiS and Civic Platform. Both of these major parties would like people to talk only about them, and about their dispute, and this is the tool for that. We do not want to get involved in this fight between PiS and Civic Platform. We do not want to be participants in this and we oppose this kind of exploitation of important state tools – stated Sławomir Mentzen in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on the program “Gość Wydarzeń” on Polsat News.

20:12

Mentzen:

I'm Surprised Tusk Took Giertych Onboard. He's More Radical Than I Am

- I have no idea what Giertych is about. This man has done all sorts of things over the past dozen or so years, and, frankly, I'm surprised Tusk, who has strongly veered left, took Roman Giertych onboard. This is a man who once proposed creating a list of one hundred Polish homosexual politicians, who always spoke out against abortion. This is a man who came up with the famous unbreakable marriage - stated Sławomir Mentzen on the program “Gość Wydarzeń” on Polsat News.

- Roman Giertych is definitely more radical than I am. For several months now, I've been listening to the hate directed at me from the Civic Platform because I don't always agree with them on worldview matters, and yet the people who insult me are putting Roman Giertych on their lists. This is very strange. I don't know how Tusk intends to explain this to his voters - he continued.

- Perhaps for Giertych, his views are not an obstacle to conducting politics. Perhaps he is capable of voting for things he doesn't even agree with. In the end, it wouldn't be strange, because Donald Tusk is also a person for whom views are not very important and he is capable of adopting things he probably disagrees with - he added.

20:13

Hołownia:

Kamiński and Wąsik should be dismissed; far more minor offenses lead to government departures globally
- Kamiński and Wąsik should be dismissed because far more minor offenses lead to departures from government positions globally. What did they do: they took a machine meant for saving health, lives, and property. It's one thing if it had an accident during some operation, some activity, some rescue mission; then we can understand, there's risk, it's always associated with such actions. But for a picnic? What if that person had killed someone in that helicopter, what if he had died, what if it had crashed? Would Wąsik also say, "but they asked, so I arranged it"? - said Szymon Hołownia on TVN24. - The military should be on training grounds, not on picnics, and on weekends, they should be at home with their families, not at field Masses or other ceremonies - he continued.

20:13

Mentzen on Hołownia: I don't know if he's illiterate, a liar, or doesn't understand our program

- We definitely have a problem here with Hołownia. I don't know if he's illiterate, a liar, or doesn't understand what's written in our program, or if he consciously lies and tries to mislead public opinion. There is no health voucher of 4300 PLN in our program. This amount is simply the sum actually spent on one Pole by the National Health Fund (NFZ). Our postulate regarding healthcare is simply the decentralization of the NFZ and the introduction of competing external insurance funds - stated Sławomir Mentzen on the program “Gość Wydarzeń” on Polsat News.

20:14

Mentzen on Kaczyński and Tusk: I still assume they'll end up in Sztum or retire in Ciechocinek. I don't know how the situation will unfold yet.

- I [don't assume they will end up in the psychiatric hospital in Choroszcz], I mean, also. although I still assume they'll end up in Sztum or retire in Ciechocinek. I don't know how the situation will unfold yet. It seems to me that this would be a good place for these two. Certainly, these are individuals who should be examined - stated Sławomir Mentzen on the program “Gość Wydarzeń” on Polsat News.

20:21

Müller:

Tusk and his ministers were the architects of the reset with Russia

- I think this is a rhetorical question. Primarily, it was those who led the reset with Russia, and Donald Tusk and his ministers were its architects. Just as they fear accountability for cooperation with Russia, they also fear referendum questions, because they truly have a hidden agenda, and unfortunately, hidden objectives they pursued many years ago. Among other things, [raising the retirement age], they've already done it once, just as some politicians from that side are openly talking about it, just as they are saying, for example, that there shouldn't be a barrier on the Polish-Belarusian border - stated Piotr Müller in an interview with Michał Adamczyk on TVP Info's "Gość Wiadomości".

20:29

Müller on the Referendum: They Don't Want Poles to Decide This, Because They Themselves Want to Decide

- There is a hidden plan behind this. It's not that this lack of participation in the referendum is accidental. They don't want Poles to decide this, because they themselves want to decide. In short, they want the ability to raise the retirement age, to eliminate the barrier on the Polish-Belarusian border, the possibility of wide-scale privatization, and these are the topics being raised in the referendum because they want to do these things and that's why they are calling for non-participation in the referendum – stated Piotr Müller on TVP Info's "Gość Wiadomości".

20:39

Müller:

There's No Programmatic Cohesion Because Civic Platform Has No Program
– If you put a gentleman on your electoral lists who directly attacks Americans and at the same time calls for cooperation with Russia, then I wonder if anyone is at the helm in Civic Platform. On the other hand, Roman Giertych, a compromised politician, who also fits there – I won't use insults, because probably only those would be fitting – but the question is also, what is the programmatic cohesion of Civic Platform? There is no programmatic cohesion because Civic Platform has no program. Consequently, there is no coherent program for the candidates; they are not presenting it – stated Piotr Müller on TVP Info's "Gość Wiadomości".

21:07

Kołodziejczak on Janusz Kowalski: It's better for him to have no place in Polish politics after the elections

- Janusz Kowalski should stop talking nonsense and lying, and frankly, it would be better for everyone if such people weren't listened to. This election campaign should also show that for him, after the elections, there should be no place in Polish politics. He is solely deceiving society - said Michał Kołodziejczak in a conversation with Monika Olejnik on "Kropka nad i" on TVN24.

21:08

Kołodziejczak:

I Was Never Close to Confederation

- I was never close to Confederation, to the people who today would most readily abolish all taxes in Poland and say that the best thing we can do is go back to the Stone Age, or even further – Michał Kołodziejczak said on TVN24's "Kropka nad i".

21:09

Kołodziejczak on Civil Partnerships: I Won't Stand in Anyone's Way, Nor Break Anyone's Spine

- You know, today, civil partnerships are associated by people only and exclusively with, for example, homosexual relationships. There are many people who wanted them to exist. I won't stand in anyone's way, nor break anyone's spine, whether it's to be this way or another. In politics, I really have my own specific matters to attend to - said Michał Kołodziejczak on TVN24's "Kropka nad i".

21:09

Kołodziejczak:

There are different women in Poland, I would never want to decide for anyone

- I know that there are different women in Poland. I know that they have different views, and I would never want to decide for anyone, let alone judge what their beliefs are. I would like to give people the freedom to make a choice with full awareness - said Michał Kołodziejczak on TVN24's "Kropka nad i".
