„We have over 800 beds nationwide that provide respiratory support. This is the current situation as of today. It is very important that we have been seeing an escalation in the number of infections for a week now. In this regard, the actions we took last week have significantly and effectively contributed to increasing the number of beds. This increase is proactive, not reactive, because the base of beds we currently have was predicted for this scale of infections” - said Minister Adam Niedzielski at a press conference.

„The largest scale of infections recently concerns the Lesser Poland Voivodeship. In cooperation with the Lesser Poland Voivode and the Ministry of Interior and Administration, we managed to increase the capacity of beds in the COVID network by 335 places, which means an increase of over 70% compared to the number of beds available a week ago. Because we are treating this region with special attention, we have a preliminary announcement that the number of beds will be increased by another 211” - he added.
