Nawrocki's Latest Veto: Presidential Spokesperson Announces Decision

Mateusz Nowak

"The President of the Republic of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, has decided to veto the act of February 27, 2026, amending the Act – Code of Criminal Procedure and certain other acts (Sejm print number 1600)," - wrote Rafał Leśkiewicz on X.

"The decision was made out of concern for the safety of citizens and the state's effectiveness in combating the most serious crime. The adoption of individual beneficial solutions is not a sufficient premise for signing the act. The new regulations could hinder criminal proceedings, which would be contrary to the interests of citizens and the state's duty to ensure their safety," - he continued in his post.

"Prosecutorial circles also raised serious concerns about the act, indicating that the introduced changes pose a high risk of procedural chaos. The state must guarantee a fair process, but also protect citizens from crime. For this to be possible and effective, criminal law must be clear and precise, which was lacking in the amendment," - he emphasized.
