- Perhaps the simplest thing is to refer back, because there was a dispute as to whether the [general] assembly had to conclude with a resolution or not. This dispute was resolved by the Constitutional Tribunal, I believe in 2017, and the most interesting aspect there is the Supreme Court's position, signed by the then spokesperson, now head of the Criminal Chamber, Michał Laskowski, who stated that a protocol indicating the individuals who received the most votes was sufficient, and the rest was already up to the president. And that is what has happened now - stated Andrzej Dera in "Rozmowa Piaseckiego" on TVN24.

„Today, we cannot name a date for the elections because the act regulating this electoral process is currently in the Senate, and as we have seen over the past two weeks, nothing has happened in the Senate, nothing that would cause this act to be considered by the Senate. Despite earlier announcements from the Speaker, as well as opposition senators and MPs, that there would be no obstruction of this act, we are nevertheless observing this obstruction. A cynical game aimed at destroying the state and its institutions is underway” - said the Marshal of the Sejm, Elżbieta Witek, on Radio Jedynka.

„The amendment, which was submitted by the Deputy Marshal from The Left, introducing a vacatio legis until August 6th, indicates that the opposition is aiming for the elections not to take place before August 6th. We are in a very serious situation, facing the election of the President of the Republic of Poland” - said Sejm Marshal Elżbieta Witek in an interview on Radio Jedynka.

"Demands for President Andrzej Duda to resign from his office simply because it is convenient for the opposition are an even greater absurdity. There is time, there is an opportunity, we are ready to work, we have shown this. We have also shown that we are ready to accept the technical amendments proposed by the opposition. We demand that the Senate seriously consider this bill," stated Sejm Marshal Elżbieta Witek in an interview with Polskie Radio Jedynka.

- For me, it's an unimaginable thing [that there would be a vacancy in the office of president and the duties would be taken over by the Marshal]. The Polish Constitution does not foresee anything like elections not being held. Not holding elections is a negation of democracy. Poland wants to be a democratic state, and the foundation of democracy in any state is elections - stated Andrzej Dera in "Rozmowa Piaseckiego" on TVN24.

- I cannot answer the question of who should provide this money. Perhaps a collection among Civic Platform senators who didn't want these elections. Perhaps that could somehow raise this amount – stated Andrzej Dera on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego" when asked who should pay over 68 million Polish zlotys for the preparations of the May 10th elections.

- Today we will protest against this Shield 4.0, which is not pro-worker. It cannot be the case that someone who has it tough today, and workers are being pushed onto 'śmieciowe' contracts, onto sole proprietorships, will pay the highest price for this crisis, and that is why today, at a press conference during an appearance in the Sejm, we will defend - said Robert Biedroń in an interview with Polsat News' "Graffiti".

- As of yesterday, we have a new sequence of events. The Civic Platform also dislikes the June deadline and will do everything to prevent elections from being held in Poland. In other words, I can say directly that the opposition's actions, especially the Platform's, amount to preventing Poland from being a democratic country. There will never be consent for this, neither from the president nor from the United Right - stated Andrzej Dera in the "Piasecki's Conversation" on TVN24.

- We are preparing for a restart. As you know, Mr. Editor, we cannot appoint a campaign staff, there is no staff because we cannot appoint one - Robert Biedroń said in Polsat News.

- That doesn't exist, but will exist. You know very well that PiS is doing this deliberately, that there will be little time, that Andrzej Duda will be shown 24 hours a day on public television, and we won't be - he added.

- There's no miraculous discovery here. Indeed, the packages are in the Poczta Polska warehouses, as we heard. Well, to the question of who will pay, normally, this type of election cost is covered by the state budget. But I'm wondering, I'm observing everything that's happening around these elections, and the fact that the opposition keeps trumpeting and boasting that these elections didn't happen and it's their great success, that they blocked these elections, perhaps they could share the costs of these unheld elections - said Jacek Sasin in an interview with Robert Mazurek on RMF FM's "Morning Interview".

- It's not about dates. It's about certain principles that we in the Senate have adhered to from the very beginning, to ensure equal opportunities for all candidates, for these elections to be fair, to truly reflect the will of the nation, and for the president elected in these elections to have a full mandate, so that no one challenges the validity of these elections, neither the Supreme Court, nor any internal or external entities - stated Tomasz Grodzki in TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

- This situation from a constitutional point of view is more complicated, perhaps, than the Gordian knot. However, in the Senate, we are also listening to the voices of local government officials, postal workers, and many are saying that June 28th is a very tight deadline in terms of preparations, and perhaps a later date like July 5th or July 12th would be better. We don't know this for sure yet, because three combined committees will continue their deliberations. So many minor, detailed aspects have emerged. Let me remind you that we are still actually waiting for the PKW resolution to be published - the Marshal of the Senate continued.

- Presumably, this bill [concerning presidential elections] will return to the Sejm from the Senate with numerous amendments. Not to mention those provisions you have in mind. Because I recall there was a simple way through declaring a state of natural disaster, which we actually had, but it just wasn't named. A 90-day waiting period, and everything would have been fine. At this moment, I believe these elections should take place, we should participate in them to express our will as to who, in our opinion, should be president. However, the date itself is, in my opinion, secondary to the principles that should guide us and that the Senate has been guided by from the very beginning - stated Tomasz Grodzki in "Rozmowa Piaseckiego" on TVN24.

- We meet frequently for working sessions. If we send back this bill [on presidential elections] on Monday or Tuesday, it will still be a long way from 30 days. That's point one. Point two, we didn't make any solemn promises. We are simply diligently carrying out the work that the Sejm again did in some sort of legislative express - stated Tomasz Grodzki in "Piasecki's Conversation" on TVN24.

- I have nothing to reproach myself for in this matter. On the contrary, I believe the Sejm should in some way be grateful to us for improving a document created in the privacy of a room by two gentlemen, which – as deeper analysis reveals – is very far from perfect. And that is the task of the Senate - he continued.

“Almost 3 months have passed since the first case of coronavirus was detected in Poland. These have not been easy days. We have over 20,000 infections and over a thousand deaths. This is very sad news for everyone who has experienced illness, or had someone in their family who fell ill, and the most unfortunate news for all who have lost someone to death. Three months ago, we set clear goals. Very simple to state. Very difficult to achieve. The goal was to shift the wave of infections in such a way that there would be no shortage of beds, ventilators, and medical supplies for treating the sick. If two people are walking close to each other, wearing masks is still recommended. This rule applies to open and closed spaces where it is safely possible to maintain distance. Masks will still be mandatory in shops, public transport, churches, and cinemas. Masks are not some miracle cure, but they are among the three most basic epidemic recommendations” – said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a press conference.

„From Saturday, we are lifting trade restrictions. This is an important day for all traders. In shops, there will no longer be limits on the number of people depending on the store's area. Similar restrictions are ceasing to apply in gastronomy, although I remind you about masks” – said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a press conference.

„From this Sunday, restrictions on the number of worshippers in churches will no longer be in effect, and the same rule regarding a two-meter distance from other worshippers will also be lifted,” said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a press conference.

“We also want to re-allow gatherings. This is a very important civil liberty, but up to 150 people. 150 people has been discussed and worked out with many experts, epidemiologists, and will be such an important number” – said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a press conference.

“On June 6th, we are lifting restrictions for all industries and economic sectors where regulations were in place. Cultural institutions such as cinemas, theaters, philharmonic halls, and others, as well as sports and recreation facilities, swimming pools, gyms, fitness clubs, and also tanning salons and massage parlors. All these places will be able to open while adhering to sanitary principles. The exception will be discotheques and clubs, because we know from experience in other countries that these are very often epicenters of new infections” - said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a press conference.

„[Weddings] will be able to take place from June 6th with up to 150 people, meaning the same number will be able to participate in weddings from June 6th” – said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a press conference.

- For a few more days, the reported results will certainly remain relatively high. However, these are individuals who are already in quarantine. What does this mean? It means that this horizontal transmission, which concerns us so much, horizontal transmission means we can infect each other on the street, we can infect each other somewhere in public spaces. There is very little of this horizontal transmission left. Thanks to this, we can propose lifting restrictions, for example, regarding masks outdoors, so that they are no longer mandatory – said Łukasz Szumowski during a press conference at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.

- I am convinced that within a few days at the latest, by the end of this week or the beginning of next, we will be able to say that the number of cases from Silesia is also falling, from Greater Poland, from Łódź, and then all voivodeships, all of Poland, will clearly have this downward trend. But this does not mean the end of the epidemic. This does not mean the epidemic has disappeared, it does not mean the epidemic has hidden somewhere. It is still here. Outbreaks may certainly appear, which is why social distancing, and if we cannot maintain distance, then masks - said Łukasz Szumowski during a press conference at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister (KPRM).

- The entire responsibility for this enormous chaos and disorganization concerning the 2020 presidential election rests with the ruling camp. They were unable to organize fair, safe elections, they spent huge sums of Polish taxpayers' money on elections that did not take place, and today they are trying to blame the opposition for everything. The Senate is working diligently, it is working in accordance with the Polish Constitution, and most importantly, it is filling the void that the Sejm should have addressed. The Sejm did not conduct a thorough debate on the new electoral law; it did not even refer it to a committee and did not consult any legal opinions. The Senate must fill this gap. From the information presented by the Marshal of the Senate, it follows that next week the Senate will address amendments to this law during its plenary session - said Borys Budka during a press conference.

- No one has appealed the National Electoral Commission's (PKW) resolution of May 10th. The PKW clearly stated that the elections did not take place. We listened to constitutional lawyers and former heads of the PKW, for instance, Judge Hermeliński clearly indicated that this was the only way. None of the potential candidates appealed this resolution, so in my opinion, these elections could also be held in July, provided there is a clear declaration from local government officials that it can be well organized - said Borys Budka during a press conference.

- I spoke with Minister Ardanowski after [the interview for RMF] and he acknowledged this statement [about sending teachers to pick strawberries] as unfortunate. Certainly, if anyone felt offended, the minister will certainly take an appropriate stance on this matter. Of course, I just wanted to emphasize that all teachers, in particular, enjoy tremendous social respect, and I thank all teachers very much for, in these very unusual, epidemic circumstances, trying their best to impart knowledge to students - stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a press conference at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.

„I wanted to thank everyone who served in local government for these 30 years, everyone who dedicated their time to building Poland at the foundational level, which is of fundamental importance to what a modern state is” - said President Andrzej Duda in Alwernia.

“Very alarming information has just reached us that the number of unemployed in Poland is approaching one million. Unfortunately, employers are forced to reduce their employees' salaries. We in local governments are constantly concerned about our decreasing revenues, 40% lower incomes. Wherever I have been, local government officials ask me the same question - what are we doing? How will we save? Where will we find money to continue implementing investment programs? We are all tightening our belts right now. The problem is that it appears the government has not adapted to the new reality, it does not understand the process of change. Therefore, a completely new policy is needed, a policy based on new solidarity, where the government keeps pace with the people, where it answers the most important questions and dilemmas that people have today, where the president plays an active role, and is not just a silent witness to events” - said at a press conference KO presidential candidate and Mayor of Warsaw Rafał Trzaskowski.

“We all know that in an epidemic, three issues are most important: job protection, security, and healthcare. We must find money precisely for the implementation of these goals. People repeat one thing. The most important things are security and jobs. I propose that the government's most controversial investments be postponed for two to three years, at least until we deal with the epidemic. The budget for CPK is estimated at PLN 75 billion. It should be transferred to an anti-crisis cushion for people losing their jobs due to the epidemic. Secondly, the budget of PFN is over PLN 100 million. It should be transferred to help hospitals. Thirdly, the funds from the Vistula Spit canal, estimated at PLN 2 billion, should be allocated to bonuses for doctors and nurses” - he added.

„Dragging out the election campaign does not serve the interests of Poles, nor the Polish economy, which has been damaged by the pandemic, much like the economies of many other countries around the world. It is in our interest to guarantee political stability for all centers of power as quickly as possible, especially for such an important office as the presidency, so that politicians – I trust, from all sides of the political scene – can concentrate all their strength on strengthening good economic processes, so that Poles can be sure they will have good prospects regarding jobs, wages, everything that is important for their daily lives. Extending the campaign, dragging it out indefinitely does not serve this purpose. I appeal to the representatives of the opposition to behave responsibly and take their commitments to the voters seriously” - said Minister Zbigniew Ziobro.

- Everything indicates that this sudden U-turn by the opposition, this abrupt attempt to postpone the elections to August, is an element of some internal squabbles within the opposition. I want to say and appeal to the opposition leaders to stop embarrassing themselves, to stop playing with Poland's interests, in the name of the very particular interests of their parties. The elections must take place on the date that is consistent with the constitution and on a date that, until recently, seemed to be agreed upon between the United Right camp, the government camp, and the opposition parties - said Jarosław Gowin during a press statement.

- The issue of election dates has resurfaced in public discussion. It seemed everything was settled, but it turns out some still want to reject constitutional solutions and adopt a different date. Purely partisan interests stand behind this. It is certainly not in Poland's interest, nor is it in any way consistent with the Constitution. The latest date that would allow for all possibilities, which might otherwise prevent the situation where a president is elected and sworn in by August 6th of this year, is June 28th. If elections are held on June 28th, then even with the use of all deadlines, for instance by the Supreme Court, this act will still be possible. Consequently, there is no possibility here for any further changes. Those who propose them are simply sowing confusion and disregard the Constitution, regardless of the fact that they often invoke it - stated Jarosław Kaczyński.

- I am not even referring here to interpretations that suggest some individuals read the Constitution in such a way that if this method were adopted, one could, for example, declare that one of these interpreters is the King of Poland, because the basis for that is the same as for what they claim. That is, no basis at all. There is not even a shadow of any constitutional grounds to claim, for instance, that the Marshal of the Senate assumes power in a situation where there is no president. And such claims are also being made, although I hope they are a fringe phenomenon. Our position is unequivocal and joint. The elections will be held. If there are any attempts to resist this, we will use all the means available to the state to ensure that the law is executed, so that the fundamental institution of democracy, namely elections, becomes a reality in Poland - continued the PiS leader.

“Mr. President Kaczyński, don't scare Poles, please don't twist the truth and don't scare people with the opposition. - This is precisely my vision for the development of Poland. It is excellent cooperation among local governments, within local governments, excellent cooperation between local governments and central authorities, mutual support, and a good, creative partnership between the President and the government. All of this means work, and all of this means jobs, therefore work, not quarrels. Jobs, not bickering. Cooperating together, creating a synergy effect in order to solve the problems of our compatriots, in order to create opportunities for residents across the entire country, including in smaller urban centers, such as Staszów. So that this opportunity exists everywhere, not just in big cities, not just where much has happened or where much has been happening for many years, but now, simply, so that increasingly more development opportunities are also available in smaller centers – stated President Andrzej Duda.

- Internal games, conflicts within the opposition have caused the June-July timeframe to be questioned again. The United Right camp will certainly not agree to a situation where the office of the President of the Republic of Poland would be vacant, and the proposal to postpone the elections to August would lead to that – said Jarosław Gowin in an interview with Dorota Gawryluk on the program "Gość Wydarzeń" on Polsat News.

- While before May 10th I was in contact with local government officials who collectively told me they would not release voter lists, because they lacked a legal basis – in my opinion, they were right – now, in conversations with me, these officials are saying that from their perspective, a deadline of June 28th or July 5th is fully acceptable. They only point to the need for greater funds to cover election costs – Jarosław Gowin said on Polsat News.

„Everything should depend on independent institutions. The whole problem is that these decisions are made by groups that are not necessarily authorized to do so. That is why the National Electoral Commission (PKW) was invented, not only in Poland, so that people legally responsible for this would resolve such matters. It seems that, in contrast to what Minister Sasin was preparing – this imitation of elections that PiS politicians were preparing then – the situation is a bit better. Thanks to the Senate's amendments, thanks to the fact that the PKW's role has been restored, at least to some extent, these elections, I hope, will be able to take place. If they do, I will participate and encourage everyone to vote” – said the head of the European People's Party, Donald Tusk, in a conversation with Katarzyna Kolenda-Zaleska on „Fakty po Faktach” on TVN24.

“If, according to government information, it will be possible to party at weddings, then I hope that a responsible government knows what it's doing when saying that it will be possible to participate not only in a wedding or a mass, but also safely in elections” - said Donald Tusk, head of the European People's Party, on TVN24.

“The problem is that these elections are burdened by the original sin of what PiS did in early May. Please don't be angry, but it would be wrong if the opposition, the Senate, let alone me, were held responsible for the evil that is happening today with regard to the presidential elections. Although, of course, we have all become accustomed to 'Tusk's guilt', this would be a very serious exaggeration” – said the head of the European People's Party, Donald Tusk, on TVN24.

„There is no way we will hand over these elections to those who have been causing so much trouble with them for a long time. When these elections come, I think every responsible Pole will make the right decision and vote” - said the head of the European People's Party, Donald Tusk, on TVN24.

"Let us learn to hold power accountable for its duties and obligations, not everyone else. If we use this method where everyone is a little bit guilty, where no one trusts anyone, then there will be no people who feel responsible for what is happening in the country at all. No one has the right to absolve power of responsibility for the mess it has introduced in Poland," said the head of the European People's Party, Donald Tusk, on TVN24.

„These are people, as the chairman showed again today with the same face – a sulky, slightly menacing-looking competitor, but in reality, it has been clearly visible for many months. We are dealing with a team completely helpless when it comes to real challenges. These are clumsy oafs. Not some dark, menacing knights. They are people who drop everything from their hands” - said the head of the European People's Party, Donald Tusk, on TVN24.

„These are people, President Kaczyński is the most striking example, who give me the impression of not loving anyone, they are immersed in their obsessions, interests. This is very clear today. However, they lack empathy, as if they loved no one, to put it plainly, humanly speaking. They are not capable of true responsibility for our future. That is why I urge everyone very warmly. There is no need to fear them. They are true bunglers, but they must be removed from power, to protect the country from permanent, continuous incompetence” - said the head of the European People's Party, Donald Tusk, on TVN24.

To her credit, she bore it very nobly, but the price was a clear drop in support, mainly resulting from Kidawa-Błońska's sympathizers withdrawing their decisions about [participating in] the elections. We should all be grateful to Ms. Kidawa-Błońska and all those who warned against the pseudo-elections that Sasin organized for May 10th. Please point out to me at least one defender of that parody. I would not fault Ms. Kidawa-Błońska for something that rather deserves words of recognition, even if she paid a quite serious political price for it. He is a man not only competent, but with what I would call joyful courage. He is a man who is not afraid of challenges.
