Trzaskowski:

The First President of the Supreme Court Should Be Someone Who Garnered a Majority in the General Assembly. Judge Wróbel is Such a Person

- I wanted to start with a statement to the Supreme Court and an appeal to President Andrzej Duda. After the Constitutional Tribunal was paralyzed and politicized, the Supreme Court is the most important court in our country, which must enjoy independence and authority. The First President of the Supreme Court organizes the work of the court, but is also the greatest and most important authority in our country, and here I appeal to Mr. President. Namely, the First President of the Supreme Court should be a person who obtained a majority in the General Assembly. Judge Wróbel is such a person, and it is incredibly important that the decision the president makes is one that respects the Constitution. At this moment, the Supreme Court stands guard over Polish law. Any other decision, an attempt to choose a judge who has not obtained a majority, would prove beyond any doubt that President Duda is indeed succumbing to political pressure. And we cannot afford that in this situation, where the court's authority is so important - stated Rafał Trzaskowski at a briefing in Lubieszyn.

- The First President of the Supreme Court is also the President of the State Tribunal. Therefore, this person must enjoy the authority of all judges and among the entire society - he continued.

Five Years After Victory, the President Attacks PO and PSL by Recalling Their Rule: 'Both gentlemen who were active participants in anti-social processes today claim they will be guarantors.' Trzaskowski: 'The more they attack me, the stronger I will becom
The President Recalls PO-PSL Governments: VAT Increase and Plans to Privatize LOT Today marks 5 years since the elections in which Andrzej Duda defeated Bronisław Komorowski. https://twitter.com/AndrzejDuda/status/1264440501203156994 The President was a guest on Jedynka radio in the morning, he will participate in a mass for healthcare workers, and later he will be in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, where he will visit an agritourism farm and the Świętokrzyski National Park. The day will conclude with an appearance on TVP's Gość Wiadomości. In Sygnały dnia, Andrzej Duda was asked by Górska-Hejke about the perspective of the last five years. "After the pensionable age increase by Donald Tusk's government, where Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz headed the Ministry of Labour, after actions related to increasing VAT, the liquidation of Polish shipyards, the constant threat to the mining industry that was then created; when there was continuous talk about liquidating more Polish companies, talk about selling LOT, it seemed that we were heading for a hopeless situation. They said it was nonsense, that the 500+ program could be introduced, that it would ruin the state budget, that it was irresponsible," the president said. PAD attacked his rivals from PO and PSL: "Both gentlemen who were active participants in anti-social processes today claim they will be guarantors, that they will not raise the pensionable age, that they will defend 500+. After all, both were opponents of 500+, both participated in the processes of raising the pensionable age. Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, actively." PAD on Trzaskowski and Kosiniak: 'Tusk Was Their Boss' PAD spoke of dishonorable people: "Their boss was Donald Tusk, who in 2011, during the parliamentary campaign, directly to the camera, looking voters in the eye, said that there would be no increase in the pensionable age after the parliamentary elections. And what happened? His grouping won the elections in 2011, and immediately after those elections, the pensionable age was raised, contrary to all promises. Simply put, these are the kinds of people, they have no honor, they disregarded their word, they thought they could promise people anything they wanted, without any consequences." The president returned to his line of direct meetings with Poles: "I represent Polish interests and what I am convinced are the expectations of my compatriots. And I know these expectations because I met with people directly, I didn't read about them in newspapers." Trzaskowski: 'The More They Attack Me, the Stronger I Will Become' Rafał Trzaskowski, in an interview with Jacek Nizinkiewicz in Rzeczpospolita, responded to PiS attacks: "The more they attack me, the stronger I will become. I see panic in the PiS ranks. Jacek Kurski's return is a mockery of the President of the Republic of Poland. The President, only once during his term, stood up to Chairman Kaczyński by demanding Kurski's dismissal as TVP president. Kurski was supposed to disappear from television. When he became a board advisor, Andrzej Duda was humiliated for the first time. Now Chairman Kaczyński has decided to humiliate the President for the second time. This is a slap in the face not only to President Duda but to the authority of the Polish state." "I remind you that it was Andrzej Duda who began his 'reform' by pardoning his two party colleagues, Kamiński and Wąsik," said Zbigniew Konwiński of PO on TVP Info, and Marcin Kierwiński on Polsat News continued the narrative about the silent president: "I don't expect President Duda to be active in buying strawberries at a market in Garwolin; I would like him to comment on the Szumowski affair and suspicions of corruption." Trzaskowski with Entrepreneurs and Local Government Officials Rafał Trzaskowski's schedule for today includes: a meeting with the Mayor of Szczecin, a visit to border entrepreneurs in Lubieszyn, and a meeting with local government officials in Stargard. https://twitter.com/trzaskowski_/status/1264486820223606784 Czarzasty: 'The Minister of Health has replaced bags under his eyes with bags of gold.' It is worth noting this colorful bon mot from one of the leaders of The Left (from Kawa na ławę). Biedroń: 'The worse PiS's polls, the greater the police brutality.' The Left addressed police brutality on Sunday morning. Robert Biedroń attacked PiS during a morning briefing: "The lower PiS's polls, the greater the police brutality on the streets. The worse Andrzej Duda is doing, the greater the repression against those who criticize the current authorities." Biedroń demanded the lifting of restrictions on public gatherings: "I appeal to Prime Minister Morawiecki to lift the ban on gatherings, because Poles have many reasons to take to the streets today. It is high time to restore normal civil rights while returning to normality." The head of his campaign, Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk, spoke on Polsat News in the morning about the legal assistance that Left MPs will provide to victims of police brutality. Biedroń also spoke about PAD's 5 years: "Today is the fifth anniversary of the presidential elections. 5 years ago, we hoped that the president would uphold the Constitution and defend citizens, not his party. Today, we can say that Andrzej Duda has failed us." Zgorzelski: 'I propose a symbolic egg to the president. This is what his effectiveness looks like; he's been made a fool of.' Piotr Zgorzelski attacked PiS this morning on Kawa na ławę. WKK continues remote online meetings: https://twitter.com/KosiniakKamysz/status/1264263881431683072

Trzaskowski at the Closed Border Crossing in Lubieszyn: This is an Appeal to the Government to State Exactly When the Border Will Be Opened, to Provide a Date, Guidelines, a Plan, but Most Importantly, to Consult It Thoroughly

- I lament that the government has not presented such solutions. I lament that the president is silent, that he is not speaking out on matters so important to the region's residents. Everyone who knows this place knows that hundreds of thousands of people depend precisely on this border functioning normally, as it functions in the EU. The European Commission has prepared special guidelines on this matter, and the situation at other borders is completely different. What is most important is a concrete plan for when the borders will be opened. On exactly what principles, and guidelines should be prepared for all those who make a living from this border. And from human connections. If it weren't for the pressure from Civic Coalition MPs, even cross-border workers would not be able to benefit from the solutions that have been developed over the years - stated Rafał Trzaskowski at a briefing with representatives of border municipalities at the closed border crossing in Lubieszyn.

- This is an appeal that we are all making to the government to state exactly when the border will be opened, to provide a date, precise guidelines, a plan, but most importantly, to consult it thoroughly - he continued.

Trzaskowski on PAD's 5 Years: Not a Single Independent Initiative from the President. The President Acted Like a Complete Hostage of One Political Option

- Unfortunately, a white flag was flying over the Presidential Palace the entire time. The President showed no initiative of his own. He promised his initiatives, for example, help for "frankowcy" (people with Swiss franc mortgages), he recently promised a firm and principled stance towards TVP, and nothing. There was not a single independent initiative from the President. The President behaved as if he were a complete hostage of one political option. But what saddens me most is not even this white flag, although it is very sad, especially at a time like this, a time of epidemic, when we need an active president who would stand up for people, propose solutions, but what saddens me most is that the political establishment, to which the president is so attached, unfortunately does not respect him, does not take him seriously. By doing so, he undermines the authority of the office of the president, which I particularly lament - stated Rafał Trzaskowski at a briefing with representatives of border self-government units at the closed border crossing in Lubieszyn.

Kosiniak-Kamysz:

Agritourism Operators Excluded from Support. We're Dealing Once Again with Exclusion and Dividing Society

- Agritourism operators have been excluded from coronavirus support. We are dealing once again with exclusion and dividing society. The government and President Duda have divided society into a better and worse sort. Now, those who run agritourism have fallen into the worst sort. There is no support, no help, no concrete offer of action. There is a lack of a helping hand extended to those running agritourism farms, and this concerns tens of thousands of people in Poland - stated Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz during a visit to an agritourism farm in Porąbka Uszewska.

- We will, once again, at the next [Sejm] session, submit motions and amendments that will include agritourism farms in the support. I want them to be treated like businesses, so they can access loans from various institutions, go to the labor office and take out a loan not for 5, but for 50 thousand, so they can have voluntary contribution payments during this difficult time, and not just for 3 months, but for a longer period. A liquidity fund is needed, which will also enable the acquisition of cash - continued the PSL leader.

Kosiniak-Kamysz:

I Am Focused on Rebuilding Community. I Don't Want to Defeat Andrzej Duda's Voters. I Want to Convince Them a Better Poland is Possible

- I am focused on rebuilding community. I don't want to defeat Andrzej Duda's voters. I want to convince them that a better Poland is possible. I want to invite them to cooperate, and on the first day after the election, as soon as we know the election date, I will invite all those who voted for other candidates, including Andrzej Duda, to cooperate. I have no problem with that. On the contrary, it is my most important ambition to convince them – stated Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz during a visit to an agritourism farm in Porąbka Uszewska.

Morawiecki:

5 Years of Duda's Presidency Mean 5 Years of Good Changes. I Thank the President for Excellent Cooperation with the Government on Numerous Programs. #Duda2020 Guarantees Constructive Dialogue with International Partners, Internal and External S

On the fifth anniversary of Andrzej Duda's presidency, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki expressed his satisfaction with the cooperation between the president and the government. In a social media post, Morawiecki stated, "5 years of PAD are 5 years of good changes. I thank the President for very good cooperation with the government on many programs." He emphasized that the '#Duda2020' campaign represented a guarantee of positive and dignified dialogue with international partners, as well as ensuring both internal and external security, and continuing existing programs. The Prime Minister linked to a Twitter post by his official account, [@MorawieckiM](https://twitter.com/MorawieckiM/status/1264550090796085249), which contained further details and potentially multimedia content related to his statement.

Mastalerek on 5 Years of PAD: This Victory Led to PiS Winning Later Elections, We Have a Good Change

- I think it will be a completely different duel than then. I remember those days [5 years ago]. They were beautiful days, because thanks to this victory, PiS later won the elections, we have a good change. However, of course, it will be an emotional duel - stated Marcin Mastalerek in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on Polsat News' "Gość Wydarzeń".

19:34

Mastalerek:

Trzaskowski's Campaign Launch is Powerful. He's a Tough Rival, but Everything Changes, and Duda's Situation Remains the Same as at the Start of this Battle. Candidates Fade, Wear Out, Yet We See the President's Great Resilience.

- We've been observing the campaign for several months now and have seen a lot. We've already had President Kidawa, with enthusiastic journalists and Twitter proclaiming that President Kidawa would be here any moment. Then we had the 'green tiger' who was supposed to crush President Duda in the polls. Later came the 'civic president' weeping over the Constitution. Today, it's President Trzaskowski, who has a very strong campaign launch. Of course, he's a tough rival, but everything changes, and President Duda's situation is the same as at the beginning of this battle. That is, candidates fade away, wear themselves out, and yet we see the president's great resilience against various kinds of attacks and, unfortunately, often against friendly fire as well - stated Marcin Mastalerek in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on Polsat News' "Gość Wydarzeń".

19:37

Mastalerek:

I've Always Urged Not to Be Addicted to Polls. They Are Part of the Game

- Regarding polls – I've always laughed at them. I remember in the 2015 campaign, I pinned up those polls that gave President Duda, then still a candidate, 7-9%, and I always urged people not to be addicted to polls. They are part of the game – stated Marcin Mastalerek in a conversation with Bogdan Rymanowski on Polsat News's "Gość Wydarzeń".

19:43

Mastalerek on Kantar Poll: "Comparing polls today, close to normality, with a new candidate, to the pandemic era is unacceptable. Duda's polls are the same as in February when the campaign began."

- I've seen a lot in politics, a lot of manipulation. But I've never seen manipulation like this before. I can only explain it by the poor brand recognition of the polling firm, which did it. I don't remember its name. Kantar, I think. I attribute this manipulation to a fight for better brand recognition. The campaign effectively ended when the pandemic began. Until that point, we had a campaign, we had a president with stable poll numbers, and we had Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, who had very good poll numbers. Then came the pandemic, an extraordinary time. Something like this happened for the first time in history, and because Platforma [Civic Platform] first wanted to run in the elections, then didn't, and because voters were disoriented, and also because during this unusual time they rather didn't want to answer or simply didn't want to go to the elections, we saw polls where the president had 60% support, and other candidates had less, but with very low turnout. And now there's been a reset, the elections didn't happen, and now they're comparing polls from today, when we're close to normality and there's a new candidate, to the time of the pandemic. You can't do that. It's incomparable. Today, President Duda's poll numbers are the same as in February when the campaign began. Nothing has changed, only the candidates on the other side have changed - stated Marcin Mastalerek in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on Polsat News' "Gość Wydarzeń".

19:50

Mastalerek on the President's Campaign: I'm Much Calmer Than 3 Months Ago, But I Believe No One Should Be Underestimated

- Many of my points from a conversation three months ago have come true and are now widely discussed. I think even today or yesterday has provided many arguments for seeing what the president's campaign will look like, his meetings, up close with people. I must admit honestly that I am much calmer than I was three months ago. I am standing aside, observing from the sidelines, looking closely, but I happened to talk to the president. He told me how he imagines the campaign. He told me what it would look like. He is mobilized, he is calm, but he sees a difficult road ahead. So, I am much calmer than three months ago, but I believe that no one should be underestimated. Trzaskowski, who went through this campaign in Warsaw, is certainly a worthy rival, and we are dealing with a real dispute - stated Marcin Mastalerek in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on Polsat News' "Gość Wydarzeń".

19:54

Mastalerek:

If Someone Says Today It's a White Flag, If Cooperation Between the President and Prime Minister is a White Flag, They Are Proposing War

- If someone says today it's a white flag, if the cooperation between the president and the prime minister is a white flag, then they are proposing war. And if they talk about a lack of independence, then they are describing what kind of president they will be, and also, they can be verified by how independent they are as president in Warsaw. And I think Poles will verify whether they want cooperation or war. I don't know, maybe they will want war, but that will only become clear at the ballot box, when the elections come - stated Marcin Mastalerek in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on Polsat News's "Gość Wydarzeń".

20:01

Mastalerek:

These are ultimately personal elections, and Andrzej Duda can win them precisely because he is Andrzej Duda. However, it's undeniable that the ruling camp sometimes brings up topics that are best avoided.
There are moments that don't even help, and can even hinder. That's why we need to look ahead. As you said, the future is important, and ultimately these are personal elections, and Andrzej Duda can win them precisely because he is Andrzej Duda, but of course, there are certain difficulties. However, these are personal elections. At the same time, it's undeniable that the ruling camp sometimes brings up topics that are best avoided. However, the other side also has its ups and downs. That side also didn't fully help their candidates. Let's recall that Ms. Kidawa-Błońska had 30% in the polls at one point, and later, in reality, it was Civic Platform that led to her having only a few - stated Marcin Mastalerek in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on Polsat News's "Gość Wydarzeń".

President Duda on Trójka Situation: Those Responsible Should Face Consequences. They Should Be Removed So They Cannot Continue Managing Affairs of This Radio Program Important to Many Poles.

- It is embarrassing [this situation], and I think that for many Trójka listeners, this situation is embarrassing. I think that for many Trójka listeners, this situation is incomprehensible. There are various voices there. Some say this, others say that. I say: please clarify the matter, and those responsible should face consequences. Strictly speaking, they should simply be removed so they cannot continue managing affairs of this radio program important to many Poles, and this is a very simple matter. As for the song, you know, anyone can sing. I also like to sing sometimes, and I have the right to do so, and one can also express their feelings through a song. Of course, one must not offend anyone, but feelings can be expressed, and criticism can also be included in this song. Whether we agree with it or not is an entirely different question, but a song is a song, an element of artistic expression, and I believe an artist sings, yes, they have the right to create, to sing. If people want to listen to him, please, they should be able to listen to him. This is very simple and clear to me in a democratic country - stated President Andrzej Duda in an interview with Danuta Holecka on TVP Info's "Gość Wiadomości".

- This is an important element of freedom of speech. If I say that something is embarrassing, such a situation is embarrassing, when this song [by Kazik] suddenly disappears from the radio, after which it turns out that thanks to this whole affair, Mr. Kazik Staszewski has some record-breaking listener numbers, views of this song on various other channels. Therefore, I said with a certain sarcasm that I congratulate him, because other musicians will surely envy him, because someone has launched and promoted him with this song. The song will earn a lot of money thanks to this unusual promotion that he was provided with through this political uproar around it, and this too is embarrassing, this political uproar is simply embarrassing to which someone has led - PAD continued.

Political Week Ahead: Civic Coalition's Initiative to Dominate Pandemic Discourse, Duda and Morawiecki in Silesia, Senate on Election Bill, Sejm on Sasin's Dismissal, Government Decisions on Masks and Restrictions

The coming days in politics will be dominated by further work in Senate committees on the bill concerning the so-called presidential elections, the Sejm's consideration of a motion to dismiss Jacek Sasin, and further government decisions on lifting restrictions. Leaders of the Civic Coalition will present an important political initiative, and President Duda and Prime Minister Morawiecki will visit Silesia. Furthermore, as we hear, it is likely that President Duda will appoint a new First President of the Supreme Court this week.

Civic Coalition's Pandemic Initiative. Civic Coalition's Pandemic Initiative. According to 300POLITYKA's information, a press conference is scheduled for Monday at 10:15 AM, during which the leaders of the Civic Coalition will present a significant political initiative. Our sources state that it aims to establish a political assessment of the government's handling of the pandemic and dominate discussions on the topic for the coming weeks. The PSL leadership, in turn, announces "further confrontation of President Duda's announcements with reality."

PAD's Plan. As we hear, President Andrzej Duda's plan for Monday includes a meeting with the family of Rotmistrz Pilecki – on the 72nd anniversary of his death. He will then travel to Silesia, where, along with Prime Minister Morawiecki, he is expected to participate in the Provincial Crisis Management Team meeting. Wednesday will feature ceremonies related to Local Government Day, followed by a Q&A session on Facebook on Thursday. Friday is dedicated to Veterans' Day. Our sources assume these are preliminary plans that may still change.

Senate on Presidential Election Bill. On Tuesday at 12:00 PM, Senate committees will resume consideration of the bill on special rules for organizing general presidential elections called in 2020, with the option of postal voting. It is not excluded that the Senate, if the committee work concludes, will address the bill this week – Tomasz Grodzki suggested such a scenario a few days ago.

Sejm on Standing Orders Amendments. On Tuesday at 12:00 PM, the Sejm's Committee on Rules and Deputies' Affairs and Immunities will hold its first reading of a draft resolution submitted by PiS concerning amendments to the Sejm's standing orders. The aim is to enable the lower house to elect members of the so-called pedophilia commission.

Sejm on No-Confidence Vote Against Sasin. On Tuesday at 5:30 PM, the Sejm's Committee on Energy and State Treasury will consider and opine on the motion of no-confidence against Jacek Sasin submitted by the Civic Coalition. According to 300POLITYKA's sources, the Sejm will most likely address the motion on Wednesday, when a two-day session begins.

Government Decision on Masks. This coming week, the government is expected to announce further relaxation of restrictions, specifically the lifting of the mask mandate in open spaces. - "Next week, I don't think we will [remove masks in open spaces] yet. Looking at how, as you mentioned, the situation in Silesia is slowly easing, but I think by the end of next week or mid-week we should announce when," Łukasz Szumowski said on Radio Plus a few days ago. We hear from sources close to the government that details of the fourth phase of economic and social recovery will be announced in the coming week.

President Duda on Choosing the First President of the Supreme Court: The President Can Choose Completely Freely from the Candidates. But of Course, I Will Be Guided by Their Judicial Experience, Their Past Stance, and Whether These Individuals Have Openly

- I assure you that I am certainly thinking deeply about it. This is a decision I will undoubtedly make with full reason, using the presidential prerogative, which is precisely the free choice of the First President of the Supreme Court from among the candidates presented by the General Assembly of Supreme Court Judges. There are 5 such candidates. In the face of the President and the presidential prerogative, each of these candidates is theoretically equal, because the President can choose completely freely from among them. There are no rules here that obligate the President, but of course, I will be guided by these individuals' judicial experience, their past stance, and whether these individuals have openly presented their political views or not, especially recently, because that is important to me. And this is an essential element in general of how every judge should behave, not to mention the First President of the Supreme Court. However, as it was before- stated President Andrzej Duda in an interview with Danuta Holecka on TVP Info's "Gość Wiadomości".

- However, as for what happened with presidents, please recall. In 1998, President Kwaśniewski made a choice. He was presented with 2 candidates from the General Assembly, Prof. Strzembosz and Prof. Gardocki. Prof. Strzembosz was then the First President of the Supreme Court who wanted to extend his mandate and was indeed elected by the judges with a majority of votes and was supported by the elites of the legal world. Meanwhile, President Kwaśniewski decided on Prof. Gardocki, who was then not widely known. He made that choice, and that was it, he stubbornly defended that choice. President Lech Kaczyński told me about it, who also had a similar situation when he was choosing the President of the Constitutional Tribunal in 2008. Most judges at the time expected a decision in favour of Judge Niemczycki, but the President decided otherwise, choosing Judge Zdzieńnicki- he continued.
