Civic Platform Counterattacks with Mass, Paid Campaign. A Series of Instructional Spots Aims to Force PiS into a Political Response: "Please Prepare for the Following Dangers"

Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska and Civic Coalition (KO) are launching the "Prawdziwe wybory" (True Elections) information campaign concerning what opposition politicians describe as "envelope elections" prepared by the government. The instructional spot, which 300POLITYKA is the first to publish, is intended to be an element of a massive television and internet campaign, we are told. The first in the series of spots simply explains the main threats associated with "envelope elections."

"Please prepare for the following dangers" - says the narrator in the film, which is maintained in the style of well-known instructional materials. The spot highlights all the risks associated with holding elections during a pandemic, ranging from the possibility of PESEL (national identification number) being obtained by unauthorized individuals, disenfranchisement of people not residing at their registered address, vote counting "by politicians," and the transmission of the virus through distributed paper.

- The spot will be promoted through paid advertising formats on television and online in a massive way. We want to force PiS to provide a clear answer on how elections conducted in this manner can be fair and safe. The spot is intended to prepare public opinion for the debate in the Senate and the crucial vote in the Sejm - a Civic Platform politician associated with Kidawa's campaign team tells us. - I will do everything to build a majority in the Sejm on May 7th to reject unfair and dangerous elections - says Borys Budka in another spot, describing Platforma's strategy. As we hear from leading Civic Platform politicians, its strategists have adopted a strategy designed to force PiS into further explanations, or even to get entangled in explaining the further weaknesses of their plan. As we wrote on 300, in the coming days Civic Coalition "is to launch a new media offensive that will support the opposition's message and put PiS in a more difficult position. It is the only one that has the strength and means in the form of both budget subsidies and well-known local government officials and leading politicians." – We are opposing "Sasin's elections" to normal elections. There are two real plans on the table: May 10th with an unknown how they would be conducted, and Budka's proposal. And every day the cost of holding these elections is greater – a politician from Budka's inner circle, involved in talks with Jarosław Gowin and other opposition factions, tells 300POLITYCE.

Government on Phase Two of De-freezing. - The decision regarding the specific date for launching this [second] phase will be presented after receiving data on the number of infections that have occurred in connection with the launch of Phase I. We must approach this responsibly, which is why it will be at the beginning of next week - Piotr Müller said on TVN24 a few days ago. As we hear, a conference is currently planned for Tuesday or Wednesday. Additionally, further video conferences are planned between Prime Minister Morawiecki and the business community, and the Prime Minister - as one of his associates states - has ordered the situation in Biebrza National Park to be monitored and has requested the Ministry of Interior and Administration to present proposals regarding border workers.

Senate Committees on Postal Voting. On Monday at 11:00 AM, consultations will be held in the Senate in connection with the work on the postal voting bill. On Tuesday at 11:00 AM, the Human Rights, Rule of Law and Petitions Committee, the Local Government and State Administration Committee, and the Legislative Committee will consider the bill. Gersdorf's Term Ends. With the end of April, Małgorzata Gersdorf's term as First President of the Supreme Court concludes. Due to the ongoing pandemic, candidates for her successor have not been elected by the General Assembly of the Supreme Court. However, as we wrote on 300POLITYCE, the President will promptly entrust the duties of First President of the Supreme Court to a Supreme Court judge designated by him, who will then convene the aforementioned General Assembly.
