Błaszczak:

Our Goal is to Exit This Situation as Quickly as Possible. There's No Reason to Postpone Elections. The Time We're Experiencing Now is for Fighting for Poles' Health and Lives, Not for Politics
The current restrictions serve to limit the spread of the coronavirus. Our goal is to exit this situation as quickly as possible, as early as possible. There is nothing to indicate that we can talk about postponing elections today. On the contrary, the elections are set, it is a constitutional deadline, there is no reason to postpone elections. The time we are experiencing now is for fighting for the health and lives of Poles, not for politics. Not for politicking as the opposition is doing - said Mariusz Błaszczak in an interview with Grzegorz Jankowski on Jedynka Radio's "Sygnały dnia".

07:34

Błaszczak:

A Time of Social Trial and Intergenerational Solidarity Lies Ahead. And Will There Be Those Who Attack? Unfortunately, There Are. A Former Prime Minister Has Traveled the Path from Premier to Hater
- A time of social trial lies ahead. It is a time of intergenerational solidarity. In a situation of threat, we are a community, one team. Our strength is calmness and responsibility, and joint action will help overcome the epidemic. And will there be those who attack? Well, unfortunately, there are. A former prime minister who has traveled such a path from premier to hater. I am thinking here of Donald Tusk – said Mariusz Błaszczak in an interview with Grzegorz Jankowski on "Sygnały dnia" on Jedynka radio.

07:53

Müller:

We Introduce Restrictions When Necessary. We Want the Number of Infections to Flatten as Quickly as Possible

- We introduce these restrictions immediately when necessary, therefore practically we want this number of infections to flatten as quickly as possible, and one way to achieve this is by limiting movement. All epidemiologists and virologists indicate that the easiest way to get infected is precisely through frequent contact, which is why we want to limit it - stated Piotr Müller in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Piasecki's Conversation".

07:57

Müller:

We Observe Developments in Western Europe, Allowing Us to React with Some Foresight

- [The previous restrictions] undoubtedly brought about an effect, because otherwise, the curve of infections would be much higher, meaning more people would have fallen ill. On the other hand, we observe the developments in Western Europe, and thanks to this, we can also react with some foresight. This means we see whether the effects of actions in Western European countries, which often introduced restrictions later, have not yielded sufficient results, hence this decision - stated Piotr Müller in a conversation with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

08:01

Müller:

It's hard to say what the situation in the country will look like with nearly three weeks' notice

- Such assumptions must always be made, but with nearly three weeks' notice, it's difficult to say what the situation in the country will look like. Let's remember that we all want to slowly return to normality, but of course, we cannot give that guarantee at the moment. However, we would like that to happen, for the curve of infections to decrease, for these habits regarding fewer contacts to be not only formal but also actual during this time, and for that to have an effect, but no one responsible can definitively answer at the moment whether it will have the effect we would like, meaning an immediate overall decrease in the curve of infections. The number of people who would be infected will certainly decrease compared to if these restrictions were not in place - stated Piotr Müller in a conversation with Konrad Piasecki in TVN24's "Piasecki's Conversation".

08:08

Müller:

We believe in citizen responsibility. It's not about imposing sanctions, but about mitigating the epidemic threat.

It's really about trust as well. These regulations are introduced not to punish anyone, but so that we collectively take responsibility for ourselves and others. We count on the police not having to intervene, and if they do, it will primarily be in cases of mass gatherings, not individuals walking alone, as that doesn't pose a threat, as long as there's no close proximity, as long as we don't appear in groups. Therefore, let's not expect to be routinely checked on the street and asked if we are going to work or not, because we also believe in citizen responsibility. It's not about imposing sanctions, but about mitigating the epidemic threat, and this threat is mitigated if we don't gather in groups and if we maintain appropriate distances – stated Piotr Müller in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Piasecki's Conversation".

08:17

Müller:

I Expect Local Governments to Be Responsible and Already Have Introduced Such Schedules to Avoid Crowding on Buses
  • I would expect, and I think all citizens, residents of individual cities, would expect that such restrictions would have been introduced even without this regulation. After all, let's not expect the government to now regulate every sphere, for example, disinfection, distances from people, in detail for every separate workplace, etc. These are general guidelines, so I assume that local government officials are responsible and that at least some of them have already introduced such schedules to avoid crowding on buses, and that it is not a surprise that we are introducing such requirements, because it simply results from the prevailing situation. That is, responsibility, even without government guidelines, should be such as to ensure the best possible conditions for public transport, so as not to expose people to infection - stated Piotr Müller in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Piasecki's Conversation".

08:25

Sasin:

If Someone Considers One Walk a Day or Other Sports Activity, Running, Cycling, Essential for Life, We Will Not Forbid It

- State Forests, as far as I know, have introduced a ban on entering forests precisely to prevent gatherings there. Walks, because I interpret this question more broadly, in this regulation that was issued yesterday, it is very clearly stated that going out is permitted in cases that are absolutely necessary for functioning and for life. If someone among us considers that one walk a day or some other sports activity, running or cycling, once a day, I repeat, is essential for life, then of course we will not forbid it - said Jacek Sasin in an interview with Beata Lubecka on the "Guest of Radio ZET" program.

08:27

Sasin:

We Cannot Discuss Imposing a State of Emergency Just Because Someone Wants to Cancel Elections Due to Poor Polls

- Either we take democracy and democratic procedures seriously, or we consider them an unnecessary decoration. That is, democracy is good only when someone other than the current poll leader is set to win. This is unserious, we cannot act this way. We cannot today discuss imposing a state of emergency, drastically limiting the rights of Poles in many areas, simply because someone would want to cancel the elections due to their poor performance in the polls – said Jacek Sasin in an interview with Beata Lubecka on the program "Gość Radia ZET".

08:29

Lubecka to Sasin regarding May 10th elections: Is President Kaczyński detached from reality, or is he simply a cynical politician?

- President Kaczyński has certainly given an explanation. He insists that the elections can take place in May, but is President Kaczyński detached from reality, or is he simply a cynical politician? - Beata Lubecka asked Jacek Sasin on the program "Gość Radia ZET".

- I protest against the question you've just asked entirely. President Kaczyński truly works every day and has an excellent grasp of what is happening in Poland today - replied the Deputy Prime Minister.

Woś on Coronavirus Testing: I Went to the Hospital From the Street, Joined the Queue, Waited with Others

- I went to the infectious diseases hospital on Wolska Street in Warsaw directly from the street. I didn't talk, I didn't chat, yet I could have called Minister Szumowski or Minister Pinkas. I didn't talk to them, I simply went from the street. When I found out, I followed the procedure, what the GIS (Chief Sanitary Inspectorate) recommended, meaning if symptoms appear and I had contact with an infected person, I should either call the hotline or go to the infectious diseases ward at an infectious diseases hospital. So, I simply went from the street. I drove up on Sunday evening, joined the queue, and waited for 1.5 hours with other people. There were 5 or 6 people ahead of me in the queue. That's why, when I revealed it, I got the result practically the next day. They called me on Monday, first from the infectious diseases hospital, and then from the sanitation and epidemic service (Sanepid), when I provided this information. And then, on your station, Borys Budka invented that there are some special procedures and better access to tests, and Mr. Tusk repeated this thesis. It really makes my hands drop. Access to tests is truly the same for everyone – stated Michał Woś in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

Gosiewska:

Civic Platform is Willing to Sacrifice and Risk Everything. It Will Likely Result in Us Having to Travel From Across the Country, Amend Regulations, and Only Then Work Remotely
“Such arrangements have been made. We were already preparing for this last week. The discussion at the presidium was essentially consistent, aiming to hold the session remotely, via an internet connection and such voting. Unfortunately, the Civic Platform, acting solely within its own political assumptions, is willing to sacrifice everything, is willing to risk everything. It will likely end with us having to travel from across the country, amend the regulations, and only then work remotely. The solution we prepared required a certain political consensus, an agreement beyond divisions” - said Deputy Marshal Małgorzata Gosiewska in an interview with Łukasz Jankowski on Radio Wnet. The Sejm Presidium is scheduled to convene at 11:00 AM, and the Convention of Seniors at 12:00 PM.

08:59

Gosiewska:

We Have a State-Responsible Opposition - The Left and PSL - and an Extremely Irresponsible Opposition, Seeking Only Its Own Interests in Everything - The PO and Confederation Coalition

We cannot treat the opposition uniformly at this moment. We have a state-responsible opposition, which is the Left and PSL, and we have an extremely irresponsible opposition, seeking only its own interests in everything. This is the new coalition of Civic Platform with Confederation” – said Deputy Marshal Małgorzata Gosiewska in an interview with Łukasz Jankowski on Radio Wnet.

Ministry of Health: 26 New Coronavirus Cases, Two Deaths in Wrocław

The Ministry of Health has reported 26 new cases of coronavirus infection in Poland. Tragically, two individuals have died from the virus in Wrocław.

The Ministry of Health announced the latest figures on its official Twitter account:

https://twitter.com/MZ_GOV_PL/status/1242722193970167808

Further details on the new cases and the fatalities were shared in a subsequent tweet:

09:13

Woś:

I'm Weakened, I Have Coughing Fits

- Unfortunately, the situation also forces me to make certain decisions related to the ministry's operations and to participate in various teleconferences, although I am not fully healthy. I am weakened, I have coughing fits, but my health is not the most important thing here. I didn't decide to have this conversation for that reason. I decided to have it so that everyone truly doesn't downplay this threat. It's a serious threat, and we are fighting especially for our seniors, for those who are in the highest risk group, but also to thank all those people who are on the front line of healthcare, nurses, doctors, midwives. All those who, through their heroic attitude, provide help to all the sick every day, and they all need to be thanked and remembered. Also, all sanitary, epidemiological, and uniformed services - stated Michał Woś in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Piasecki's Conversation".

09:13

Gowin:

We Realize We Can't Station a Police Officer by Everyone. We Count on Common Sense, a Sense of Responsibility Not Just for Ourselves, But for Others

We realize that we cannot station a police officer by everyone. We count on common sense, a sense of responsibility not only for ourselves, but very importantly, a responsibility for others. For now, we Poles are passing this test with flying colors” - said Deputy Prime Minister Jarosław Gowin in the program “Kwadrans polityczny” on TVP1.

09:21

Gowin:

Unfortunately, there are politicians who, instead of lending a hand to the common effort to save Poles' lives, try to sow confusion

There are politicians who, in this particularly difficult situation for Poland and the world, are trying to save what can be saved, and I’m not just thinking of United Right politicians. Some of the opposition, to my surprise, have behaved very responsibly, as have politicians from The Left. The leaders of PSL are behaving more responsibly than Civic Coalition. Unfortunately, there are also politicians who, instead of lending a hand to the common effort to save Poles' lives, save health, and jobs, are trying to stir things up, to sow confusion. I believe that Poles will assess this correctly” – said Deputy Prime Minister Jarosław Gowin in the program “Kwadrans polityczny” on TVP1.

09:22

Gowin:

I Appeal to Civic Coalition Politicians to Stop Hindering Us. If They Don't Want to or Can't Help, They Should at Least Stand Aside

"I appeal to the politicians of the Civic Coalition to stop hindering us. If they don't want to or can't help, they should at least stand aside" - said Deputy Prime Minister Jarosław Gowin in the program "Kwadrans polityczny" on TVP1.

09:26

Gowin:

I Agree with One KO Argument. Changes to the Sejm Standing Orders Must Be Voted On by MPs Present, But We Don't All Have to Vote at Once

"I agree with one argument from Civic Coalition politicians. Indeed, to pass the changes, meaning to enable remote voting, it probably has to be done through the presence of MPs at the session, but after all, we don't all have to vote at once. It can be organized in such a way that 230 MPs are designated proportionally to the number of MPs in the clubs, and they enter in subgroups and cast their vote. After this one vote, all other proceedings can take place remotely" - said Deputy Prime Minister Jarosław Gowin in "Kwadrans polityczny" on TVP1.

Kosiniak-Kamysz:

Government Tightens Restrictions as Public Complacency Grows

- I think that the government, seeing a slight relaxation in all our emotions, that we've started to approach these restrictions differently, is tightening them at this moment. If they have an analysis that this will lead to a slowdown in the spread [of the coronavirus], then such decisions must be made. They are difficult, but it's better to make them earlier. Here, prevention, even during an epidemic, and quicker decision-making is crucial. The speed and accuracy of decision-making are key. This will be assessed after the peak of the epidemic, when we are in a better situation. We are probably in the most difficult days. I hope that the peak of infections will be here soon - stated Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz in a conversation with Jacek Prusinowski on Radio Plus.

09:51

WKK:

EP Also Lacks Mail-In Voting in its Rules, Yet Will Use It Due to Inability to Convene. We are in a Fight Against the Disease and Must Make Decisions That Just Yesterday, or the Day Before, Seemed Impossible
- I will definitely be at the [Sejm] session, I will speak. Of course, there are doubts about adopting changes to the rules. This is being considered, these voices are… We definitely have to make decisions often that just 2-3 weeks or a month ago would have seemed impossible to us, and frankly, not up for discussion at all, but today we must have an open space. The European Parliament also does not have mail-in voting in its rules, yet it will apply it because it is impossible to convene. Simply put, we are in a war with the disease, one could say, a fight against the disease, and we must make decisions that just yesterday, or the day before yesterday, seemed impossible - stated Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz in an interview with Jacek Prusinowski on Radio Plus.

Solutions Enabling Faster Lawmaking Are Being Introduced in Various Parliaments Today. This is Also Needed in Poland

- It may be that there will be continuous work of the Sejm and Senate, meaning the entire parliament. Other countries, like Germany, in the European Parliament, in various parliaments today are introducing solutions that enable faster adoption of laws. This is also needed in Poland - stated Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz in a conversation with Jacek Prusinowski on Radio Plus.

Kropiwnicki on Proposals for Entrepreneurs: Solutions Should Be Simple. We're Providing a Bill Draft on a Few Pages, Containing All Key Solutions. Bureaucratic Procedures Can Wait Until the Situation Normalizes

- To date, we have not received the government's draft. The government is ostensibly working on some major regulation that it expects the Sejm to adopt within a few hours. We say that the solutions should be simple and transparent. We are providing a bill draft on a few pages, which contains all the key solutions. For all complicated, bureaucratic procedures, there will be time when the situation normalizes. Today, entrepreneurs need to know that they will not collapse, they will not go bankrupt, and employees will receive their salaries. Either we will help entrepreneurs maintain jobs, or soon we will be paying large unemployment benefits – stated Robert Kropiwnicki during a press conference in the Sejm.

Biedroń on New Regulation: When the Government Presented Further Decisions, These Solutions Were Not Clearly Explained. There Cannot Be Information Chaos
All actions aimed at the safety of Poles are important and should be implemented. Of course, on terms that are understandable to the general public. Yesterday, we accepted with understanding the decision to limit gatherings, that these gatherings cannot be larger than two people. We will certainly support all such actions that lead to a decrease in the number of infections, that the coronavirus will be under the greatest possible control, of course, within the limits of possibility. But we will not consent to incomplete information, to limiting information, to information chaos, and yesterday we were dealing precisely with such a situation. When the government presented further solutions, further decisions, these solutions were not clearly explained, they were not concrete, they were not presented through a specific regulation, a law that would be understandable to all inhabitants of our country. This cannot be. There cannot be information chaos - said Robert Biedroń during an online press conference.

12:40

Biedroń:

Churches can hold gatherings of up to five people plus clergy conducting services. It's incomprehensible. The coronavirus is democratic on this matter. It doesn't distinguish between believers and non-believers.

- Churches have received a special dispensation allowing for gatherings of up to five people plus, of course, clergy conducting religious rites. This is incomprehensible, unequal treatment of the Church. The coronavirus is extremely democratic in this regard. It doesn't distinguish between believers and non-believers - said Robert Biedroń during an online press conference.

12:43

Biedroń:

We are becoming victims of the party leader's determination to hold elections at all costs, bringing not ballot boxes, but perhaps other urns into public life.
When I listen to Minister Szumowski, who works hard – and on behalf of Lewica, we would like to thank the Minister here – I get the impression that in one case he is a hostage of the party leader, and he shouldn't be. He should be independent. The government, the president, and the state institutions are also hostages. This, of course, concerns the date of the presidential elections, the presidential campaign – said Robert Biedroń during an online press conference. It cannot be that we, Polish women and men, are becoming victims of the party leader's determination to hold elections at all costs, bringing not ballot boxes, but perhaps other urns into public life, for Chairman Kaczyński to conduct elections that should not have taken place on May 10 – Biedroń added.

13:03

Trzaskowski:

I Appeal Not to Succumb to Propaganda, Put Political Disputes Aside, and Let Local Governments Function Rationally

For us, from the very beginning of the coronavirus epidemic, the most important thing has been the safety of Warsaw residents and a rational approach to decision-making. I have precise analyses of what is happening on the streets of Warsaw, what is happening with parking spaces, what is happening with public transport, and based on this, we make rational decisions. I appeal not to succumb to propaganda, to put political disputes aside, to concentrate on allowing local governments to function rationally

” - said the Mayor of the Capital City of Warsaw, Rafał Trzaskowski, at a press conference.

13:04

Trzaskowski:

Warsaw Deployed Maximum Buses and Trams Today

Today, the maximum number of buses and trams have been deployed on the streets of Warsaw. 1440 buses and 382 trams, because we want to ensure safety, but in a flexible manner. We are receiving very contradictory signals from the government. The GIS (Chief Sanitary Inspectorate) sent us a letter requesting the restoration of a weekly timetable, meaning a static one, while the regulation presented by the Prime Minister and the Minister of Health imposes upon us the obligation of flexibility” - stated the Mayor of Warsaw, Rafał Trzaskowski, during a press conference.

Kidawa-Błońska:

In These Difficult Times, We Must Urgently and Quickly Solve the Problems Millions of Poles Are Talking About. What's Happening in the Sejm? We're Dealing with Something Else Entirely

- In these difficult times, we must very urgently and quickly solve the problems that millions of Poles are talking about. For several days, draft laws that can rapidly ensure economic security for Poles, minimum wages, a three-month suspension, good working capital loans, and security have been lying in the Sejm. And what is happening in the Sejm? We are dealing with something else entirely - said Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska during a press conference in the Sejm.

13:42

Kidawa-Błońska on Gosiewska's Quoted Statement: Such a Sentence Was Not Uttered

- People will feel safe when we adhere to values, respect each other, and do not use such brutal arguments as Ms. Gosiewska. There was an argument. Such a sentence was not uttered - said Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska during a press conference in the Sejm.

Millions of Poles Work Today. I See No Reason Why We Should Suddenly Turn Parliament into a Consulting Firm. We are Not People Elected Only for Good Times.

- We are arriving tomorrow. The vast majority of parliamentarians are arriving. Of course, we understand exceptional circumstances. However, we are ready to work. Once again, it must be emphasized that millions of Poles are working today. I see no reason why we should suddenly turn parliament into a consulting firm. We are not people who have been elected only for good times - said Borys Budka during a press conference in the Sejm.

Duda:

I congratulated the Chinese President on the extent to which the epidemic has been brought under control. Tomorrow, the first plane from China carrying medical equipment will land.
"I committed myself to acting on the international stage to strengthen the level of protection against the coronavirus, the danger of infection. This primarily concerns medical personnel who directly interact with patients, potentially infected individuals. This primarily involves protective equipment, masks, suits, protective goggles, and disposable gloves. I said I would discuss this matter with the President of China. That conversation took place yesterday. It lasted 45 minutes. It was a very good conversation. I presented the President with the situation that is occurring here. The President also informed me about the situation in China. I congratulated him on the extent to which the epidemic has been brought under control, because China, slowly but consistently, can return to work. Thanks to the fact that they can return to work, it will also be possible for us to purchase the necessary equipment from China. The President said that we have the green light to make purchases, and such purchases are being made. Tomorrow, the first plane from China will land with precisely this equipment. In the coming days, we can expect more planes" - said President Andrzej Duda at a briefing.

13:51

President Duda: New Regulations Ensure Farmers Treated as Entrepreneurs, Eligible for Same Support

- I spoke today during the crisis management team meeting and later with the Prime Minister, with Minister of Development Jadwiga Emilewicz, about these very changes that I have recently proposed, which I consider essential, namely the introduction of the aforementioned relief, discussed in recent days, in the form of exempting micro-entrepreneurs and the self-employed from paying ZUS for three months. But this is also a matter of how farmers will be protected, and here, a three-month exemption from KRUS has been introduced into the draft bill. Regulations have also been introduced that mean farmers, including those running family farms, will be treated like entrepreneurs, i.e., like people running ordinary businesses. Therefore, all the same forms of aid will also be available to those engaged in agricultural activities. What I wanted to emphasize is that parents raising children up to the age of eight will also be able to use this benefit if the child attended kindergarten or school, a benefit for children up to the age of eight also in farming families – stated President Andrzej Duda at a press briefing.

PAD also informed that regulations concerning volunteer firefighters will be introduced into the anti-crisis package, i.e., exemption from periodic medical examinations and exams if they possess a certificate of completion for such a course.

14:10

President Duda: Statistical Data Shows Fewer Infections in Poland Than in Other Countries, Especially Western Europe. Radical Measures Are Yielding Results – Please Adhere to These Rules.
Yesterday, stricter sanitary and epidemiological standards were introduced. As we know, there are even greater restrictions on movement and travel. I know this is inconvenient, I am perfectly aware of that. I feel it myself, but I would like you to adhere to these rules. This is very important when it comes to limiting the spread of the epidemic. We can already see from statistical data that the number of infections in Poland is lower than in other countries, particularly in Western Europe. This shows that the isolation measures we have been implementing from the very beginning, seemingly radical actions such as suspending classes in schools and universities, canceling all public gatherings, events, and sporting competitions. It seemed like these were radical measures. Some were even surprised that we were taking such drastic steps, but they are yielding their effect today, and I earnestly ask you to adhere to these rules – stated President Andrzej Duda at a press briefing.

14:20

Kamiński:

Our Country's Borders Remain Closed Until April 13th
As you may recall, we introduced the closure of our country's borders due to the development of the epidemic in Europe and worldwide, starting on March 15th for 10 days. In accordance with international law, this decision was extended by a further 20 days. Therefore, our country's borders remain closed until April 13th. This does not, of course, mean a closure to the flow of goods – informed Mariusz Kamiński at a press conference.

14:54

Kosiniak-Kamysz:

As Polish Coalition, We Are Working on Legislative Solutions for the Anti-Crisis Shield

"As Polish Coalition, we are working on legislative solutions. In the morning, Stanisław Tyszka and I participated in a teleconference with Minister Emilewicz and representatives of the Ministry of Health. We submitted our comments, particularly regarding the health bill. Greater powers for nurses, paramedics, pharmacists, insurance, and the rapid admission of intern doctors to work," said the Polish Coalition's presidential candidate and PSL chairman, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, at a press conference.

15:25

Grodzki:

After Sejm session, an additional Senate session likely next week, possibly in the first half
In the coming days, the Sejm will convene to debate the so-called anti-crisis shield. These epidemic times are difficult, but no one will relieve the Sejm and the Senate of their constitutional duties, especially since millions of Polish women and men are working in various positions to ensure that the economic rhythm and supply chains are maintained, at least to a minimal extent. Power must exist to serve its citizens. The anti-crisis shield is primarily intended to protect health, combat the epidemic, but above all, to support employees, employers, and all those who are incurring unavoidable losses in the fight against the epidemic threatening us. Therefore, even though the Senate was originally planned for the end of April, after the Sejm session, an additional urgent Senate session will be held next week, likely in the first half of the week, although senators will be notified first. This is to ensure that we can enact regulations as quickly as possible, making it easier for all of us to overcome the epidemic – stated Tomasz Grodzki in a recording published on social media. It is necessary that before the plenary session, which I would like to be very brief, small groups of senators, and previously members of parliament, convene and work out the broadest possible compromise regarding the anti-crisis shield, so that the plenary session is as short as possible. We will, of course, adhere to all sanitary and epidemiological regulations – the Speaker of the Senate continued. Until now, the age at which a child's benefit is received is 8 years. We would like to extend this age, because it is also difficult to leave a 9 or 10-year-old alone. We would like this benefit not to last another 14 days, but to be determined until the schools reopen. We want entrepreneurs to be exempted from ZUS (Social Insurance Institution), for there to be loan holidays, and to take care of the transport system, where transport company owners are having trouble paying their next lease installments. There are many such detailed issues, and we want to improve them before the plenary sessions of the Sejm and the Senate, so that the plenary gathering is as short as possible – he emphasized.

15:48

Morawiecki:

We Must Fight for Our Economy, Our Businesses, Our Jobs. The Anti-Crisis Shield Will Evolve. We Will Continuously Develop and Adapt It to the Current Situation

- The coronavirus pandemic threatens not only our health and lives. It poses a serious danger to our economy as well, which we have painstakingly built over the years. Many companies and sectors have frozen their operations. Global supply chains are being disrupted. Leaders of major countries and experts worldwide are sounding the alarm: the consequences of the economic crisis will be very serious. It is precisely in such conditions that Poland faces an economic test. Perhaps the most serious one we have faced in decades. We will not be able to completely avoid this storm. The government has prepared an anti-crisis shield. The shield was created to protect. But to protect during a battle, because a fight awaits us. We must fight for our economy, for our businesses, for our jobs. The anti-crisis shield will change. We will continuously develop and adapt it to the current situation. The state stands with employees and employers. In this extraordinary time, we must all be united and responsible. Play as one team – stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki in a recording published on social media.

- The total value of the shield will amount to at least 10% of Poland's entire GDP. This is the largest Polish support package in history. The Polish state will help employees and employers in this difficult situation. It will cover 40% of employee salaries. It will provide support for self-employed individuals and those on civil law contracts. It will expand guarantees for small and medium-sized enterprises. It will launch credit facilities to maintain liquidity. It will alleviate the burden of paying contributions. Entrepreneurs can count on a support package and financial leverage. Tools developed through many meetings and consultations will also help us in this fight. I thank everyone for these discussions, including trade unions, businesses, and entrepreneurs. We will do everything to stop the pandemic, and at the same time, we will fight to protect the Polish economy, Polish companies, and workers. A very difficult time awaits us, but we must be united and care even more for our loved ones – continued PMM.

The final technical and legislative work is currently underway, and we intend to adopt the draft legislation by the end of today. Tomorrow morning, we will consult it with opposition clubs. This morning, elements of this package were also the subject of our meeting and discussion with the opposition – stated Jadwiga Emilewicz at a press conference at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.

A Reminder to PO and Confederation Politicians Who Want Sejm Sessions in the Chamber. Nazis Murdered According to German Law. The Law Was More Important Than Moral Imperatives and Common Sense

To remind the politicians of PO and Confederation who want Sejm sessions in the chamber.

The Nazis murdered according to the law in force in Germany. The law was more important than moral imperatives and common sense.

Kidawa-Błońska:

If Ms. Gosiewska wants to quote my statements, I kindly ask her to quote them precisely. That's all I have to say

- If Ms. Gosiewska wants to quote my statements, I kindly ask her to quote them precisely. That's all I have to say - said Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on the program "Gość Wydarzeń" on Polsat News.

- She should quote that statement precisely. It is known that for each of us, the safety of people is paramount, but this safety also means good law, and also that Poles have trust in us – who work in the Sejm - she added.

19:42

Kidawa-Błońska:

If we follow safety rules in the Sejm, we will make good laws. I am surprised by Kosiniak-Kamysz, who wants to be President of Poland, yet disregards the Constitution.

- Can you imagine creating laws that go against the constitution, against the regulations? Anyone could challenge such a law at some point. That would be another disaster. If we know how to protect ourselves from the virus, if we follow safety rules in the Sejm, we will make good laws. Incidentally, I am surprised by my colleague Kosiniak-Kamysz, who wants to be President of Poland, yet disregards the provisions of the constitution - said Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on the program "Gość Wydarzeń" on Polsat News.

19:45

Woś:

I'm on the final stretch to recovery

- I'm on the final stretch, one could say, to recovery, because a young organism deals with it a bit faster and more efficiently, but I haven't missed the media, and I'm not accepting invitations to talk about my own health. Instead, I want to fervently appeal to everyone, especially young people, not to downplay this, because the course of this disease can truly be very varied, and I want to express my deepest condolences to all the families of all 14 victims in Poland - stated Michał Woś in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on the program "Wydarzenia i opinie" on Polsat News.

19:46

Kidawa-Błońska on "Gość Wydarzeń" Mentions "Minister Emilianowicz"

- At the moment, it's not about money. We are supposed to deal with this government document on Friday. Today is Wednesday, and we haven't seen the document yet. As far as I know, it's a very large document, Minister Emilianowicz has said many things on this topic - stated Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on the Polsat News program "Gość Wydarzeń".

19:58

Woś:

At This Moment, the Decision is to Prepare for Elections. I Believe the Final Decision Will Be Around the Holidays.

- I have great trust in Łukasz Szumowski, the doctor, the Minister of Health, and since he says that this is not the time, not today, that this is the moment to decide what to do about the elections, that we will see around the holidays, and that he, as a doctor, is primarily a doctor, and only then a minister or a member of parliament, and that he, as a doctor, is taking this responsibility upon himself, then I truly have full trust in the minister – stated Michał Woś in conversation with Bogdan Rymanowski on the program "Wydarzenia i opinie" on Polsat News.

- At this moment, the decision is to prepare for [presidential] elections. The procedures are underway, they are being carried out, signatures have been collected, and election protests from some candidates who did not gather signatures are also being considered, but it is the Supreme Court's role to resolve these doubts. However, the state is preparing, maintaining maximum security and procedures related to safety, in order to efficiently conduct this procedure. Personally, I have a deep conviction that the time for the final decision will be then, around the Easter holidays – he continued.

20:22

Kidawa-Błońska:

My conversation with Marshal Gosiewska was quite nervous and unpleasant after the Sejm Presidium meeting, but the quote used by Gosiewska isn't my wording.

I spoke with Marshal Gosiewska quite nervously and unpleasantly after the Sejm Presidium meeting, but Mrs. Gosiewska’s quote is not my wording. I didn't say it exactly like that. I won't comment on this further, but quotes should be done accurately” – said Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, Civic Coalition's presidential candidate and Deputy Marshal, in an interview with Katarzyna Kolenda-Zaleska on TVN24’s “Kropka nad i”.

20:22

Kidawa-Błońska:

Thousands of Poles Work in Our Country Daily. Being an MP is for Better or Worse, and We Uniquely Can Have Well-Organized Work Because the Sejm Building is Large

Thousands of Poles work in our country every day. What should flight attendants say, who fly on multi-hour flights and bring Poles back to the country? What should doctors, nurses, shop assistants say? We all work. Being a Member of Parliament is for better or worse, and we uniquely can have well-organized work because the Sejm building is large” - said Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, Civic Coalition's presidential candidate and Deputy Marshal, in an interview with Katarzyna Kolenda-Zaleska on TVN24's "Kropka nad i".

20:23

Kidawa-Błońska:

If we are to adopt a very important package of laws that provides Poles with security, we must be certain that no one will ever challenge this package in the future

People are getting sick, they are getting infected, and we don't know who among us is carrying this virus or not, but I know that when I was elected as a Member of Parliament, and I became one, it was to create good law and take responsibility for the lives and fates of Poles, so that they feel safe. If we are to adopt a very important package of laws that provides Poles with security, we must be certain that no one will ever challenge this package in the future. Politicians must be responsible, but also brave” - said Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, candidate of the Civic Coalition for president and Deputy Marshal, in an interview with Katarzyna Kolenda-Zaleska on the show „Kropka nad i” on TVN24.

20:23

Kidawa-Błońska:

I Hope Our Proposals Will Be Included in the Anti-Crisis Package: Abolition of ZUS Contributions, Payments for Unemployed, Childcare Benefits for Parents of Children Over 9

We will certainly support all good solutions and I hope that our proposals will also be included in this [anti-crisis] package, because some of them have already been discussed: the abolition of ZUS contributions is necessary. It is necessary to pay money to people who are not working. It is also necessary for people who are staying with their children to receive benefits. We believe that people who are with children, who are over 9 years old, should also receive these benefits” - said Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, candidate of Civic Coalition for president and Deputy Marshal, in an interview with Katarzyna Kolenda-Zaleska on TVN24's „Kropka nad i”.

20:24

Witek:

If all 460 of us showed up, plus staff, legislators, employees, administration, marshal's guard, and journalists, we'd be over 1000 people. This could have been done remotely.

- This could have been done in a completely different way, not by gathering here directly in the Sejm. If all 460 of us showed up, plus staff, legislators, employees, administration, marshal's guard, and journalists, we'd be over 1000 people here. This could have been done remotely. Even today, I thought we would manage to reach an agreement, achieve consensus with all parliamentary clubs, but we only succeeded with the Left club and the Polish Coalition club - said Elżbieta Witek in an interview with Michał Adamczyk on the TVP Info program "Gość Wiadomości".

20:24

Kidawa-Błońska:

I fear this remote debate system won't work on Friday. There were already problems today.

I fear that this [remote debate] system won't work on Friday. There were already problems today. It was a big mess, and there shouldn't be a mess in the Sejm, and we should efficiently pass the laws that are needed. We can wait until the pandemic ends, but some matters we must handle here and now, and truly very quickly” – said Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, candidate of Civic Coalition for President and Deputy Marshal, in an interview with Katarzyna Kolenda-Zaleska on TVN24's "Kropka nad i".

20:28

Witek:

Accusations of violating the constitution from PO and Konfederacja are unfounded, as no one foresaw this situation
These voices emerging primarily from Civic Platform, but also from Konfederacja, claiming we are violating the constitution, are completely misplaced in this instance, because no one foresaw such a situation. No regulations were previously prepared for such a scenario - stated Elżbieta Witek in an interview with Michał Adamczyk on the TVP Info program "Gość Wiadomości".

20:35

Witek:

My Duty is to Ensure MPs' Safety. I Cannot Guarantee Success, But We Are Taking All Measures. MPs Will Receive Masks, Gloves, Disinfectants, and Their Temperature Will Be Checked
Unfortunately, due to a lack of consensus, we have to convene tomorrow, but as I mentioned at yesterday's press conference, the Sejm was originally supposed to meet on Friday, and it will meet on Friday. It will be a two-day session, not a one-day one. Tomorrow, we only want to vote on the regulations so that we can later work with the new rules, meaning MPs will be able to participate in debates and vote remotely, while only representatives from individual parliamentary clubs and circles will be present in the plenary hall. It is my duty to ensure the safety of MPs and all employees. I cannot give a guarantee that I will succeed, although we are taking all possible actions to make it happen. MPs who come will receive masks, gloves, hand sanitizers, their temperature will be measured upon entry, and they will have to fill out a questionnaire – said Elżbieta Witek in an interview with Michał Adamczyk on the TVP Info program “Gość Wiadomości”.

Witek on the Sejm's Stationary Session: I Won't Take Responsibility for This. Responsibility Now Falls on Civic Platform and Confederation

- We are trying to ensure very safe conditions for everyone, but I will not take responsibility for this. From the beginning, I knew it was risky. Responsibility at this moment falls on Civic Platform and Confederation - said Elżbieta Witek in an interview with Michał Adamczyk on the TVP Info program “Gość Wiadomości”.

20:46

Witek:

I Suspect PO and Konfederacja Aren't Interested in Efficient and Swift Procedures; It's Likely About Provoking a Brawl

- This was about a simple, straightforward technical, organizational matter, which is why I can only suspect that Civic Platform and Konfederacja are not at all interested in us proceeding efficiently and quickly. It seems to be about provoking a brawl and creating the impression among Poles that we, as MPs, are evading work, because examples are being drawn from shop assistants, or state employees who drive buses or trams – said Elżbieta Witek in an interview with Michał Adamczyk on the TVP Info program “Gość Wiadomości”.

20:51

Witek:

The Government Has Received Tools via a Special Act, Controls Developments in Poland, Operates Efficiently, and There Are No Obstacles Today for the May 10th Elections to Take Place
  • On one hand, we are within the constitutional order, which foresees a specific procedure leading to elections, and we are in that procedure. On the other hand, we have an epidemic state, but one does not impede the other. That is, as of today, the government has received instruments in the form of a special act, it controls what is happening in Poland, it operates efficiently, and there are no obstacles as of today for the May 10th elections to take place – said Elżbieta Witek in an interview with Michał Adamczyk on the TVP Info program "Gość Wiadomości".
