Jaśkowiak:

I Will Always Stand With the Excluded, the Weaker. I Will Always Stand With the Citizens

- I wanted to thank my colleagues from the Civic Platform, because it was six years ago that I joined the Civic Platform, and just half a year later, you trusted me and proposed me as a candidate for the mayor of Poznań in the local government elections. It was such a symbolic opening of the civic platform to civic movements, and then over the next 4 years, we showed how a city can be managed together with its citizens. We showed that a mayor doesn't have to hide behind their office, but can stand with those citizens in defense of the Constitution, can stand together with those citizens in defense of independent media and the separation of powers, and can also be there when the ruling party harasses teachers and minorities, regardless of what kind. Thank you very much for trusting me. I thank all those citizens who have been with me for the last 5 years, and I am with them. At the meetings I've attended recently, not only voters and members of our party attend. Representatives of civic movements also come. And sometimes you ask me: if I were to be the KO candidate for president of Poland, would I still be with the citizens, as I have been so far? I promise I will be. That I will always stand on the side of the excluded, the weaker ones. I will always stand on the side of the citizens, because only thanks to you have we been able to defend, in Poznań too, such a true history. The commemorations of the Poznań June 1956. We showed Macierewicz that we will not allow our history to be appropriated and falsified - stated Jacek Jaśkowiak during a Civic Platform debate.

Kidawa-Błońska:

We Must Think and Plan for Poland Not Just for Our Grandchildren, but Our Great-Grandchildren, Because the Tasks Ahead Require Long-Term Vision and Implementation: Climate, Health, Demography

Poland is a great dream, it's a great endeavor. It's something thousands of Poles fought and worked for. We wanted to fulfill the dream of a beautiful, wonderful Poland. I have had and continue to have the good fortune to live half my life in a free Poland, one that is developing wonderfully, where people felt good. However, the last 4 years have outraged me. They have outraged me because they started to ruin what we fought for, what we worked on. They began to dismantle the foundations of our state. That is why I decided to run. I decided to run because I want a better future for Poland. The past is very important. It represents our roots, our experience, but we must think and plan for Poland not just for our grandchildren, but for our great-grandchildren, because the tasks that lie before us require a long time and extensive implementation: climate, health, and demography. These are challenges for many decades” – said Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, Deputy Marshal of the Sejm, during a primary debate.

11:13

Kidawa-Błońska:

I'm Running Because I Disagree with More Banasiów, Misiewiczs, or Piotrowiczs. The State Must Defend Itself, and the President is its Defender

I am running because I disagree with more Banasiów, Misiewiczs, or Piotrowiczs. The state must defend itself against this, and the defender is the president, who is the guardian of the constitution. When the president guards the constitution and ensures that the law is observed in Poland, such pathologies will not occur” – said the Deputy Marshal of the Sejm, Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, during a primary election debate.

11:14

Kidawa-Błońska:

I am Running Because I Am a Woman and Believe a Woman Can Better Foster Dialogue and Cooperation in These Difficult Times

I am running also because I am a woman and I believe that in these times, in these difficult times, a woman can better manage to create opportunities for dialogue, conversation, and cooperation in Poland, and a woman will allow us to bridge the divisions that exist in our society” – said the Deputy Marshal of the Sejm, Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, during a pre-election debate.

11:18

Jaśkowiak:

A True President, A Strong Poland
I don't know if you will trust me in the same way as 5.5 years ago. I don't know therefore if I will be able to go with the slogan of such a true president. A true president, a strong Poland. But this true president is a president among people, citizens, on the tram, on the bus, on the street, able to talk also with those who hold different beliefs. A true one is someone who can talk to the Church from a position of strength, but is not anti-clerical. He can cooperate for the benefit of the poorest, the excluded. A true one is someone who does not falsify history, who can also talk about things that were painful in our history, because a strong Poland is a Poland in Europe – stated Jacek Jaśkowiak during the Civic Platform debate.

11:21

Kidawa-Błońska:

The Winner of These Elections Will Be the One Who Finds a Common Language with Poles. Promises, Deceit, and Lies Won't Work. Truth and Authenticity.

It was possible to meet and talk with young people about climate, with experts. It was possible to have a discussion about healthcare. This is a topic that all Poles talk about. The winner of these elections will be the one who finds a common language with Poles. Promises, deceit, and lies won't work. Truth and authenticity. You have to tell people the truth, because if we tell people the truth, then people know that we respect them” - said the Deputy Marshal of the Sejm, Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, during a primary debate.

11:22

Jaśkowiak:

I Count on Cooperation with the Senate Marshal

- A healthy Poland is also needed. I count on cooperation with the Senate Marshal, because a safe Poland is not just a Poland that spends 2% of its GDP on armaments. It is a Poland that is safe due to cooperation with other European countries, although cooperation with the United States is, of course, very important, but it also includes good neighborly relations. With Ukraine, Russia, because they are also our neighbors and even though we differ, we don't have to take offense. We can look for areas where we can cooperate. It is an educated Poland, because we must raise the dignity of teachers, and strong also through diversity. I hope that today's debate will also be useful not only in the context of this campaign, but also in terms of discussions about Poland - stated Jacek Jaśkowiak during the Civic Platform debate.

11:29

Jaśkowiak:

We Cannot Isolate Ourselves Within Our Own Circle, Party, Electorate, or Group

- We cannot isolate ourselves within our own circle, our own party circle, our own electorate, and our own group that does not understand the needs of people with, for example, basic education, residents of villages or small towns. This is the key to understanding the current situation in Poland – to talk to these people and also to listen to their voices. I am doing this – stated Jacek Jaśkowiak during the Civic Platform debate.

11:30

Kidawa-Błońska on the 2015 Vote for Ziobro's Tribunal: 'It's one of the most painful things that we failed to conduct this vote in the Sejm'
“That we didn't do it back then, I won't judge [the vote regarding the State Tribunal for Zbigniew Ziobro]. It's one of the most painful things that we failed to conduct this vote in the Sejm, but it happened. This is a lesson for us about diligence and vigilance regarding how important these votes are, how important this matter is,” said Deputy Sejm Marshal Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska during a primary debate.

11:33

Kidawa-Błońska:

We Must Redesign the President's Role and Functioning Entirely. The President Shouldn't Say They Are Independent, They Should Be Independent

We must redesign the president's role and functioning entirely. The president shouldn't say they are independent, they should be independent. The president shouldn't talk about dignified representation, they should do it wherever they appear in the world” - said the Deputy Marshal of the Sejm, Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, during a primary debate.

11:33

Jaśkowiak:

I have no doubt that the President of Poland should be brought before the State Tribunal. All those who violated the Constitution and the law should also be held criminally accountable.

- I have no doubt that President Duda should be brought before the State Tribunal for violating the Constitution. All those who violated the Constitution and the law should also be held criminally accountable. Even within the PiS electorate, and I would say even among the ruling elite, there are no longer any doubts that Marian Banaś should face charges. They are also not running away from holding their own black sheep accountable – stated Jacek Jaśkowiak during a Civic Platform debate.

11:37

Jaśkowiak:

We Can March in the Equality Parade, But We Can Also Respect the Life Defense March

- We want to be able to present our views in such a way that others do not insult us for it. We can march in the Equality Parade, but we can also respect the Life Defense March. We don't have to look with contempt at those who want to tighten certain regulations, even if we disagree with them. Let's talk, present our arguments, and look for common ground - stated Jacek Jaśkowiak during a Civic Platform debate.

11:40

Jaśkowiak:

President Duda Disgraced the Office. It was Macierewicz Who Was Dominant in His Relations with PAD and Repeatedly Humiliated Him

- President Duda has disgraced this office [of the president]. He is a person who completely submitted to the party leader Jarosław Kaczyński, but who also could not stand up in discussions as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces to the head of the Ministry of National Defence, Macierewicz. It was Macierewicz who was dominant in his relations with President Duda and repeatedly humiliated him. This way of acting also disgraces and weakens our country externally, it weakens us in international relations - stated Jacek Jaśkowiak during a Civic Platform debate.

11:44

Jaśkowiak:

We Won't Abandon Coal Within 10 Years

- We won't abandon coal within 10 years. We need to look for solutions that will allow us to increasingly utilize renewable energy, perhaps nuclear energy, but this must be a program designed for years to come - stated Jacek Jaśkowiak during a Civic Platform debate.

11:50

Jaśkowiak:

I Will Definitely Not Take Orders from the Party Leader. I Will Invite All Party Leaders to My Palace, and That's Where We'll Talk

- On the one hand, [the president] can meet with other heads of state himself, and can show a range of initiatives in this regard, but he also has the right to approve individuals for ambassadorial posts. This is a very important tool. In this respect, if the president were independent, if he didn't have to listen to the party leader's orders, I assure you: I will definitely not listen, and of course, I will invite all party leaders to my [Presidential] Palace, and that's where we'll talk - stated Jacek Jaśkowiak during a Civic Platform debate.

11:52

Kidawa-Błońska:

I'd rather invite European leaders to Poland to present solutions, not be a petulant critic

"I would prefer not to go, but rather to invite representatives of important European countries to Poland, to show that one can come to Poland, one can talk, one can sit at the table and solve the most important problems, that we will not just be reviewers, but will prepare solutions. I have the impression that EU countries are waiting for a dialogue with us, for us to want to talk with them and present solutions, rather than just being a petulant child who only criticizes" - said the Deputy Marshal of the Sejm, Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, during a pre-election debate.

11:59

Jaśkowiak:

Antoni Macierewicz's Purge Weakened Our Security, Resembling Stalin's Actions

- Through the purge in the army conducted by Antoni Macierewicz, our security has been weakened. Macierewicz did something similar to what Stalin did in the 1930s in the Soviet Union. We must restore apoliticism, true apoliticism, to the army. This army is meant to defend us regardless of which party is in power - stated Jacek Jaśkowiak during a Civic Platform debate.

- We must have an efficient anti-aircraft defense, and above all, we must have a good, professional army. Territorial defense or similar formations, in the context of the wars waged today, do not secure our country. They should be incorporated into the army - he continued.

11:59

Kidawa-Błońska:

The President Should Truly Become the Commander-in-Chief, Guardian of the Dignity of Polish Soldiers and Officers. The President Must Utilize and Revive the National Security Council

The President should truly become the commander-in-chief, the guardian of the dignity of Polish soldiers and officers. The President must utilize and revive the National Security Council (RBN). Budgets for the military, for the army, must be spent wisely. It cannot be the case that these large sums of money, which are to be invested in the Polish army, are not simultaneously a driving force for the development of the Polish economy and our innovations. Therefore, a long-term agreement must be built between all political options, because we cannot talk about our defense in the perspective of a single Sejm term” – said Deputy Sejm Speaker Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska during a primary election debate.

12:00

Kidawa-Błońska:

I Would Like to Propose a National Pact for Defence, So That We Can Discuss, Beyond Divisions, What to Do to Ensure Poland's Security
"I would like to propose a national pact for defence, so that we can discuss, beyond divisions, what to do to ensure Poland's security, and so that money is spent wisely," said Deputy Marshal of the Sejm Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska during a pre-election debate.

12:03

Jaśkowiak:

We Must Restore Dignity to the Army. Planes and Tanks Alone Won't Suffice Without Effective Leadership and Skilled Personnel

- The most important thing is that we have good personnel. We cannot get rid of this personnel. We must restore dignity to the army, because Macierewicz, also through those Smolensk appeals and purges, has deprived professional soldiers of their dignity, and that's where we need to start. Planes and tanks alone won't suffice if we don't have an efficient, good command and skilled personnel - stated Jacek Jaśkowiak during a Civic Platform debate.

12:06

Kidawa-Błońska:

"The Civic Platform Raised the Retirement Age. It Was a Wise Decision. We Paid a High Price. We Lost the Election."

The Civic Platform raised the retirement age. It was a very wise solution. We paid a high price for it. We lost the election. We made a mistake back then because we didn't convince Poles that longer work was better for their own good, because not only would we become richer as a country, but pensions would also be significantly higher. Now, we should encourage Poles to work, to persuade them” - said the Deputy Marshal of the Sejm, Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, during a primary debate.

At the moment, I cannot imagine increasing people's working time, but encouraging them to do so, yes” - she added.

12:17

Jaśkowiak:

PiS conducted witch hunts against various professional groups, including doctors. We must now restore public trust in different groups

- PiS conducted witch hunts against various professional groups, including doctors, portraying them in a certain light. We must now restore public trust in different groups, including doctors, and we must also give these doctors the sense of how important a part of our society they are, how much they do for us. Perhaps then we will reduce the emigration of doctors to countries where they are more appreciated and earn better - stated Jacek Jaśkowiak during a Civic Platform debate.

12:21

Kidawa-Błońska:

Healthcare is the Most Serious Problem the Polish State Must Solve
"The problem of healthcare is the most serious problem that the Polish state must solve. This is a problem that cannot be solved by one political option alone. It must be done across divisions, because this is a solution not for 4 years, but for many years," said Deputy Marshal of the Sejm Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska during a primary election debate.

12:23

Jaśkowiak:

I Know How to Beat PAD, Because Poland Needs a Real President and a Strong State

- I have a plan on how to win in May. I've already won two important previous presidential debates. Perhaps at a different level, but they teach you how to form a campaign team. A team that is independent of politicians, because in business and sports, I know it's best to rely on yourself, and I know that. I won't wait for someone else to do something for me. I won't wait for speeches, or for someone to write what I should say. Such presidential elections are primarily six months of hard work, immense physical and mental effort. I've run many marathons, including some of 90 km, and I know how to pace myself over such a long distance. I know we are playing for very high stakes, and in this game, the ruling party will stop at nothing, having special services and public media at their disposal. I've had a taste of this, as did my colleagues Paweł Adamowicz and Wadim Tyszkiewicz last year, with the actions taken by the CBA against us. Slander by public media is something one must be able to withstand. I know I have a team I can count on. I know I have a team I can count on, that this team can operate professionally, and I also know how to beat Andrzej Duda, because Poland needs a real president and a strong state - stated Jacek Jaśkowiak during the Civic Platform debate.

12:24

Kidawa-Błońska:

I Promise I Will Be President for Everyone, I Will Represent Every Pole, I Will Be a President Present Among the People and a Very Independent President

I deeply believe that we will win these elections in May. I am convinced, because by talking to you I know there is hope, that Poles want to win these elections, they want a change in the Presidential Palace. And this is not only members of our structures, but Poles I meet all over Poland. There is hope and a desire for cooperation to win these elections. I thank everyone who has trusted me. I promise that I will be president for everyone, I will represent every Pole, I will be a president present among the people, and I will be a very independent president. I will be an active president who will seek good solutions” - said the Deputy Marshal of the Sejm, Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, during the primary debate.
