Sobolewski:
The Situation is Unchanged. We Await Chairman Banaś's Resignation
- At the moment, the situation is unchanged. We are awaiting the resignation of Chairman Banaś. We hope for reflection and that such a resignation will be submitted. Otherwise, we will have to take legislative action - said Krzysztof Sobolewski in an interview with Eliza Olczyk on Polskie Radio 24.
07:59
Sobolewski:
Judges Issue Statements Against the Ruling Party; The Government Can Respond. A Resolution Isn't Binding, But It Shows a Position.
- Judges participate in demonstrations and also issue various statements directed against the ruling party. Isn't this a disruption of the separation of powers? I could ask Mr. Budka why he isn't reacting. The government can probably respond. A resolution isn't binding. However, it does show a position - said Krzysztof Sobolewski in an interview with Eliza Olczyk on Polskie Radio 24.
08:08
- Our expectations are clear, but unfortunately, the decision in this case, at this stage, lies with the President of NIK, and only he can submit his resignation. We hope this will happen. I hope Plan B won't be necessary, above all, but if indeed nothing happens in the immediate future, then we will indeed have to talk about solutions that will resolve this matter, or unfortunately, wait for the court's verdict. Consequently, the latter variant may unfortunately take a bit longer - stated Piotr Müller in an interview with Piotr Witwicki on Polsat News' "Graffiti".
08:18
Müller:
We Have a Situation Where Some Judges Are Trying to Undermine Another Judge's Status. Some Are Extremely Over-interpreting the CJEU Ruling
- First and foremost, we have a situation where some judges are trying to undermine another judge's status. If we allow that… We have a situation in Olsztyn or in the Supreme Court, which is the declaration that people will not be appointed to adjudicating panels until the clarification of… well, of what exactly, because there are no doubts whether Supreme Court judges or ordinary court judges are judges. Everything here is clear. Some people are simply over-interpreting, and extremely so, the CJEU ruling and trying to undermine the status of their colleagues as judges – stated Piotr Müller in an interview with Piotr Witwicki on Polsat News's "Graffiti" program.
08:23
- Indeed, the Council of Ministers does not often take stances on such matters, or on stances in general. This is a manifestation of our concern to prevent chaos in the judiciary, and this must be clearly stated. On the one hand, Article 179 of the Constitution explicitly states that once the President appoints a judge, no one can challenge that appointment. That is one point, and the other is Article 178, paragraph 3, which speaks of the apolitical nature of judges, and here significant doubts arise in the context of their participation in many demonstrations alongside politicians - stated Piotr Müller in an interview with Piotr Witwicki on Polsat News's "Graffiti".
08:28
Müller:
Ministry of Justice Working on Comparative Legal Solutions for Judiciary Across EU
- Currently, I am aware that work is underway at the Ministry of Justice concerning the comparison of legal solutions in various areas related to the judiciary in the EU. Here, our opponents argue that we should strive for EU standards, so if any solutions were to be introduced, they would be drawn from proven EU practices – stated Piotr Müller in an interview with Piotr Witwicki on Polsat News's "Graffiti".
09:10
- This [CPK] is a project that competes with many other foreign projects. These competitors, as you can see, have their equivalents in Poland. It is also a very important project for LOT's development, so that it has a home base where it can grow without capacity limitations, and LOT also has its competitors. The second reason is a general attitude and complex that we Poles are somehow inferior, that there are serious countries like Germany or Japan that can have large airports, and we can't, because for some reason it cannot succeed in Poland. And the third reason is the voices of the opposition, which is always against PiS. Someday, even breathing will have to be praised by PiS, and they will suffocate just to spite us – stated Marcin Horała in an interview with Michał Rachoń on the TVP Info program "Jedziemy".

09:33
Siemoniak:
I am urging Schetyna to run for PO leader
09:42
- Certainly not [Civic Platform is not standing on the precipice]. Parties standing on the precipice do not organize primaries. In parties that are on the verge of collapse, there isn't a contest for power, for who will be the new leader. So, if there are emotions, competition, and people, it means the opposite - stated Tomasz Siemoniak in an interview with Robert Mazurek on RMF FM.
- Of course, this is Bogdan Zdrojewski's assessment. As I understand it, he is unconventionally seeking leadership... Everyone has the right to say this; it's a democratic party. Leader-centric parties have the characteristic that no one discusses how to change the leader, because the leader is immutable and outside the democratic procedure of selection and evaluation. In our party, Civic Platform, it's such that every few years different individuals can run. If Bogdan Zdrojewski feels strong enough, then by all means, we will see how he is judged - he continued.
- So far, he hasn't convinced [Bogdan Zdrojewski] yet, but today we are in the process of choosing a candidate for president. The convention will choose on December 14th - emphasized the Civic Platform politician.
10:03
- It depends on the political decision of the leadership of my political camp. We are indeed prepared, but whether we proceed with this project [of the media deconcentration bill] hinges on that decision. The problem is serious... - stated Jarosław Sellin in "Sygnały dnia" on PR1.
- I don't know, I have no intention of exerting any pressure or influence. It is simply a matter of a prudent analysis of the situation and whether we can move forward with it, but the problem needs solving because, indeed, in no major EU country have foreign corporations been allowed to dominate the media ownership as they have in Poland, especially corporations from a single country, and we have such a situation in Poland, particularly in the press. This is not the case in Germany, France, the UK, Italy, or Spain, despite the principle of free movement of people, capital, services, and so on, which applies in the European Union. Exceptions can be made regarding media, because media are not just the production of ordinary material goods; they are also a sensitive area for transmitting opinions, content, information, and shaping society - the Deputy Minister of Culture continued.
- I truly don't know, because I don't want to exert pressure on the leadership of my own political environment either, but I know the problem exists, that the problem is there, and it is serious - he emphasized.

Woś:
State Forests Contribute Significantly to the Budget; Any Further Demands Require Rational Justification, and I See No Such Discussions or Government Expectations Currently.
- The specific answer is that State Forests make a significant, substantial contribution to the budget, and everything depends on the situation. However, I will maintain the position that everything should happen in the interest of the state, Poland, and the interest of State Forests, which are undertaking truly gigantic tasks related not only to nature protection and our forest management, but also to climate matters. Small-scale water retention is largely carried out by forests, effectively raising water levels - stated Michał Woś in an interview with Jacek Prusinowski on Radio Plus.
- I think I am answering you, Mr. Editor, sufficiently concretely. This is not the time to answer: yes or no. As a rule, forests contribute a lot to the budget, so if there is a need for them to contribute even more, there must be a rational justification, but at this moment, I do not see such discussions, and there is no such expectation from the government - he added.
10:55
Woś:
Foresters are taking intensive action, but in line with the ECJ; the ruling has certainly tied the hands of all who cared for the forest, for the Białowieża Forest
- The scale of bark beetle activity over these past two years, what has happened there, convinces foresters that there is little left to save. Meaning, there are no longer sufficient opportunities to effectively combat the bark beetle. Of course, foresters are taking intensive action, but action that is in line with the ECJ, and the ECJ ruling has certainly tied the hands of all who cared for the forest, for the Białowieża Forest – stated Michał Woś in an interview with Jacek Prusinowski on Radio Plus.

Budka:
Following further media reports on Banaś' resignation, I will demand full information from the Marshal of the Sejm
- In connection with further media reports regarding Marian Banaś' resignation, and the submission of a relevant letter to the Marshal of the Sejm, Elżbieta Witek, today at 1:30 PM during the senior council meeting, I will demand full information from the Marshal on this matter. It cannot be that the Marshal of the Sejm, in a completely irregular manner, which is typical for the PiS party, either puts such information into a shredder or sends it back. Once again, I want to publicly ask: is it true that Marian Banaś submitted a written resignation to the Marshal of the Sejm, is it true that this resignation was sent back or destroyed without any procedure, and if so, why was the Sejm, as a collegiate body, not informed by the Marshal? - stated Borys Budka at a briefing in the Sejm.
11:45
Witek:
Banaś Did Not Resign. I Received No Letter
- [Marian Banaś] did not resign. I have my statement, it is true and current - stated Sejm Marshal Elżbieta Witek in a conversation with journalists.
- I have my statement. I did not meet with Mr. Banaś, I received no letter, he did not submit his resignation to me, and that is all I have to say. I didn't even see the driver - she added.
11:52
Budka:
We have a ready motion to dismiss the Sejm Marshal. We are considering filing it
- We have a ready motion to dismiss the Sejm Marshal. This is a motion prepared by the Civic Coalition parliamentary club. We are considering filing it given that more and more information is emerging about the possibility of the Marshal acting unlawfully. We are giving the Marshal a chance to save face. We believe she should inform the public. It cannot be that we have a state that operates without proper procedure - stated Borys Budka at a briefing in the Sejm.
12:09
According to information obtained by 300POLITYKI, the Sejm is likely to convene for a session (or two sessions) this month, most probably on December 12, 19, and 20. Borys Budka already mentioned the first of these dates during a briefing in the Sejm. A second session (or a continuation of the first) is necessary to vote on probable Senate amendments to the Solidarity Fund (concerning the financing of the 13th pension) and to increase excise taxes on stimulants. The upper house has a session scheduled for December 17-18.
The parliament should also vote on a bill to re-suspend the application of the retail sales tax – the act is intended to come into effect on January 1st, so either the Senate will address it during its aforementioned session, or another session will be needed this year. All of this assumes that the upper house, controlled by the opposition, will not wish to wait 30 days.

Banaś:
Out of Responsibility for the Supreme Audit Office, I Will Continue the Mission Entrusted to Me by Parliament
13:17
- We are witnessing some kind of spectacle unfolding within the PiS camp. And this is not just a PiS matter; it concerns the highest officials of the Polish state. It concerns the President of NIK, it concerns the Prime Minister, it concerns the Minister-Coordinator of Special Services, and it is a matter concerning the state - said Sławomir Nitras during a press conference in the Sejm.
- We appeal from this place to Marshal Witek not to start her term with such an embarrassing spectacle. To rise to the occasion, to put an end to what is happening, and to include the government's report concerning this matter in the agenda of the next Sejm session next week - added the MP.
13:26
Gawkowski:
Today we will appeal to other parliamentary clubs to co-sign the motion for the impeachment of President Banaś
- As the Left, we want to defend the credibility of the state. We want to defend the credibility of the constitution, and therefore, today we will appeal to other parliamentary clubs to co-sign the motion for the impeachment of President Marian Banaś. What is happening at the Supreme Audit Office, the turmoil caused by the fact that a potential criminal is at the head of this institution, cannot go unanswered - said Krzysztof Gawkowski during a press conference in the Sejm.
14:09
Information from 300POLITYKA is confirmed – the second session of the Sejm for this term has been convened for December 12, 19, and 20. On the first day of deliberations – according to the preliminary schedule – MPs will address, among other things, a draft law re-suspending the retail sales tax. The first reading will take place at 10:00 AM. The plan for this day also includes changes to the Sejm's regulations (concerning the election of a new National Electoral Commission - PKW) and the second reading of the draft regarding the so-called "small ZUS plus".
On December 19, the Sejm will address, among other things, amendments to the Code of Civil Procedure, and a Christmas meeting is scheduled for 10:50 AM. On the following day, December 20, in the morning block between 9:00 AM and 10:30 AM, it will also consider amendments to the laws on the Solidarity Fund (concerning the financing of the 13th pension) as well as an increase in excise duty on stimulants, and the election of the next judge to the Constitutional Tribunal – to replace Małgorzata Pyziak-Szafnicka, whose term expires on January 5.
14:16
The first Sejm session in 2020 will take place on January 8-9, followed by another on January 29-30, according to the Sejm session calendar seen by POLITYKA.
Starting in February, sessions will be held once a month (unless an extraordinary Sejm is convened). Only in June will there be two sessions: on the 17th-18th and the 24th-25th.
Two sessions will also be held in July, and on August 6th, the National Assembly is scheduled for the newly elected president to take the oath of office.

- This summit is a success for the North Atlantic Alliance, its results are a success for the North Atlantic Alliance, and when it comes to our matters, to Polish matters within the North Atlantic Alliance, the security of our part of Europe, it is safe to say that this summit is also a victory for Poland - said President Andrzej Duda after the meeting of NATO leaders concluded.
- What are these results primarily? Well, primarily the result is that all those dire predictions about a deep crisis in the North Atlantic Alliance, the disintegration of the North Atlantic Alliance, or some countries leaving the North Atlantic Alliance have, of course, proven to be untrue - added the President.

I Knew President Banaś Before. I Knew Him Very Well. This Surprised Me Greatly
- Naturally, there was a full level of trust and competence. I also knew President Banaś before. After all, we also worked together in the government in 2006-2007, and I knew him very well. This surprised me greatly as well. The situation is certainly a difficult, dead-end one - said Beata Kempa in an interview with Dorota Gawryluk on the program 'Gość Wydarzeń' (Guest of Events) on Polsat News.

- Something is ending, so something is beginning. I want to talk to you about it. It can be assumed that he will announce his candidacy for President of Poland then.

- I believe this is the President's mistake, because one must remember the function they hold. This is one of the most important bodies in the state, and it concerns the state's interest - Michał Wójcik said in an interview with Monika Olejnik on TVN24's "Kropka nad i".

– There is a flaw in the entire system because the legislator should have foreseen such a situation. There is no such situation. There is a term of office in the constitution – said Michał Wójcik in an interview with Monika Olejnik on TVN24's "Kropka nad i" (Dot on the i).
