Of course, there might be some dissatisfaction, because six months earlier, in the European elections, we achieved a better result, in terms of percentage of support, not in terms of the absolute number of votes. And the polls in the last days and weeks before the election gave us greater support than on election day. Here, we need to consider why there was a certain demobilization in the final stretch, why, for example, the provinces in eastern and southern Poland increased their turnout to a lesser extent than central or western Poland, our traditional strongholds, and why we gained so relatively few Kukiz voters, why Konfederacja received well over a million votes. - If there is anything I am disappointed about regarding the election results of October 13th, it is precisely the results for the Senate. We have 48 mandates, and Senator Staroń, with whom we closely collaborated in the previous term and whom we supported in these elections. Meanwhile, Senate candidates fought for a majority for all of us. We won all other votes, and it seems to me that our colleagues from the Sejm assumed the Senate would manage somehow anyway. Marshal Karczewski did enormous work, traveling all over Poland, but the Senate campaign could not have been solely the Marshal's trips. There should have been greater support, and it seems to me that this was lacking in those few contested districts - the MEP continued.

President Andrzej Duda has referred the so-called law on the transparency of family assets of key state officials to the Constitutional Tribunal under preventive control proceedings – 300POLITYKA has learned.

- The main reason is the fact that criminal liability threatens an individual for information contained in the declaration, which the person submitting it cannot verify, and sometimes cannot even obtain – our source says, emphasizing that President Duda agrees with the intentions of the law, but the matter is so fundamental that there can be no legal doubts in this regard.

The proposal submitted by PiS concerned "expanding the scope of data contained in the asset declarations of persons holding public office to include information concerning, in addition to personal assets and assets covered by marital property community, also the personal assets of the spouse and the personal assets and assets covered by marital property community of own children, spouse's children, adopted children, and persons living in a common-law marriage with the person obliged to submit the declaration, as well as expanding the categories of persons obliged to submit asset declarations”.

The ruling party submitted the draft at the end of August. The Sejm adopted the law on September 11, and the Senate approved it without amendments on September 26.

The opposition pointed out that it was poorly constructed, but this law should exist, because politicians cannot be allowed to hide their assets from the public. Everything must be clear and transparent, but from the beginning, we knew that by introducing flaws the president could highlight, the law would end up in the trash, and indeed it did. Grzegorz Schetyna, the leader of Civic Platform (PO), has stated that the request for a recount of votes in the parliamentary elections "smells of undermining the election results." He made these remarks in reference to the actions taken by the opposition after the election was over.

Schetyna emphasized that the election results are final and have been announced by the State Electoral Commission (PKW).
