Komorowski on the Podleśna Case: State Services' and Police's Overzealousness and Nervousness Stem from Electoral Concerns and Internal Pressure

The phenomenon of dispute over the place of the church in a democratic state, over the principles of separation of church and state – be it friendly, hostile, or indifferent – is timeless and not tied to elections. The case of Ms. Podleśna – it seems to me that the overzealousness of state services, the police, such nervousness in action, stems from electoral matters, from the fact that there is such internal pressure, an expectation that there is an opportunity to demonstrate activity. This is to the detriment of the police” – said former president Bronisław Komorowski in an interview with Jacek Żakowski on TOK FM Radio's Morning program.

07:55

Komorowski:

When I saw the rainbow image of the Virgin Mary, I thought it was very cool, very beautiful

Initially, when I saw the rainbow image of the Virgin Mary, I thought it was very cool, very beautiful. Perhaps it is a signal that the conviction of many Christians in Poland is breaking through, that the Virgin Mary embraces everyone in need with her heart, regardless of sexual orientation. Then this lady [Podleśna] somewhat disappointed me, by saying it is a fragment of a battle” - said former President Bronisław Komorowski in an interview with Jacek Żakowski on Radio TOK FM's Morning broadcast.

Godek:

My entry into politics is linked to PiS freezing the 'Stop Abortion' project and paralyzing the Constitutional Tribunal to prevent it from enacting life protection
- I make no secret of it. My entry into politics is linked to PiS freezing the 'Stop Abortion' project and paralyzing the Constitutional Tribunal to prevent it from enacting life protection - Kaja Godek said in an interview with Wojciech Dąbrowski on Polsat News' "Graffiti".

08:23

Godek on the 447 Act: Polish Diplomacy Quietly Negotiates the Return of Claims

- Anxiety appeared, and then Law and Justice started speaking to its electorate: nothing like that will happen. But Polish diplomacy is sleeping. Polish diplomacy is quietly negotiating the return of claims and is not sending any signal to the Israeli embassy and the United States embassy that the payment of claims will not occur - Kaja Godek said in an interview with Wojciech Dąbrowski on Polsat News' "Graffiti".

08:30

Mucha on the President's proposed constitutional changes: It seems unlikely to me that there will be a majority in this term to carry out such a change

- It seems unlikely to me that there will be a majority in this term to carry out such a change - Paweł Mucha said in an interview with Beata Lubecka on the program "Gość Radia ZET".

08:35

Mucha on PAD's 4th June Activity: Senate Ceremonies Are What Will Also Be Celebrated in the President's Presence
Senate ceremonies are what will also be celebrated in the presence of the President of the Republic of Poland. This is a very important anniversary and it needs to be remembered - said Paweł Mucha in a conversation with Beata Lubecka on the program “Gość Radia ZET”.

08:41

Mucha:

I Can Confirm a Trump-Duda Meeting at the White House in June

- I can confirm that a meeting will take place in June, another one within a few months, please note this. Within less than a year, another meeting between President Donald Trump and his wife with President Andrzej Duda and his wife. It will be a meeting at the White House - said Paweł Mucha in an interview with Beata Lubecka on the program "Gość Radia ZET".

09:23

Bielan:

The Polish Government is Not Conducting and Will Never Agree to the Return of So-Called "Heirless Property." This is Clearly Inconsistent with Our Law
I want to assure you: the Polish government is not conducting any talks and will never agree to the return of so-called "heirless property." This is clearly inconsistent with our legal order, the legal order of any European country, and it would actually be racist if we were to single out an ethnic group, for example, people of Jewish origin, and return their heirless property exclusively to them - stated Adam Bielan in an interview with Marek Pyza on TVP1's "Political Quarter Hour."

09:26

Bielan on Kukiz's Proposal: I Don't Understand Why Politicians Not Running for EP Should Debate

- I don't understand why politicians who are not running for the European Parliament should debate, because in this group, perhaps only Mr. Zandberg, unless I'm mistaken, is the only person who is on the EP lists. There are debates, and there should be debates among the candidates. I also have planned debates for list leaders in my constituency, and there will probably be a lot of such debates in every constituency in the coming two weeks - stated Adam Bielan in a conversation with Marek Pyza on TVP1's "Political Quarter Hour", when asked about Paweł Kukiz's proposal regarding a debate of leaders.

09:34

Bielan on Today's Poll: "A Center Controlled by Those Who Ran the Civic Platform's Local Election Campaign"
A poll by "Newsweek" magazine. I don't know if editor Lis wrote it. It seems to me that this is a survey that editor Lis dreamt about. He probably wishes for such a result. Anyone who saw fragments of his conversation with editor Michnik yesterday, I saw it somewhere on Twitter, a fragment where they lament that the chances of victory are becoming smaller, knows that there is pessimism on that side regarding the possibility of defeating us - stated Adam Bielan in an interview with Marek Pyza on TVP1's "Political Quarter Hour", referring to today's poll by the Institute for Public Affairs Research, which shows a victory for the European Coalition. The average of polls, primarily from independent centers, free from political parties – this center cannot be described as such, because it is controlled by individuals who ran the Civic Platform's local election campaign – but the average of independent polls shows us a significant advantage. However, I often repeat at our pre-election meetings, when I meet with supporters: let these good polls not lull us to sleep - added the Deputy Marshal of the Senate.

09:40

Bielan:

European elections could be decided by a very small margin of votes

- The European Parliament campaign operates under its own rules. Five years ago, Civic Platform won the elections by a difference of just 25,000 votes nationwide. That was a difference of three per mille. In terms of mandates, it was a tie, 19 each. These European elections, I hope I'm wrong, I hope we win them by a large margin, but these elections could also be decided by a very small number of votes, so mobilization is needed - stated Adam Bielan in an interview with Marek Pyza on TVP1's "Polityczny Kwadrans" (Political Quarter Hour).

- Mobilization is needed. Our main opponent in these elections is low turnout, especially in rural areas and small towns, and I appeal to all our sympathizers not to stay home on May 26th - he added.

09:57

Bielan on the Anti-Abortion Law: A Motion Has Been Filed with the Constitutional Tribunal. From the Perspective of Future Changes, the Tribunal's Ruling is Far More Durable

- A motion has been filed by many MPs, the majority of our club, to the Constitutional Tribunal to examine its compliance with the constitution. The Tribunal considers such cases for a long time, but let's remember that from the perspective of future changes, should political trends reverse and the – God forbid – far-left come to power, the Tribunal's ruling, its verdict, is much better. This is because if we simply change the law, that law can be changed again if we lose our majority. A Constitutional Tribunal ruling means that the constitution would have to be changed then to liberalize the anti-abortion law. Therefore, this solution is far more durable – stated Adam Bielan in an interview with Jacek Prusinowski on Radio Plus, when asked about the anti-abortion law.

Scheuring-Wielgus:

My Relations with Petru Remain Good. I Feel at Home in Wiosna. It Would Be Irresponsible to Join Another Party Within Six Months. We'll See What Happens on May 26th.
“It is very important for me to have very good relations with everyone I cooperate with and to behave loyally. I am constantly working in the Polish parliament, and to be able to do my job, I need to be part of a parliamentary club, because then I have the opportunity to speak more often. If I were an independent MP, I would have only 6 minutes for the entire session, but when I am in the 'Teraz' club, I can have those 6 minutes for each project” - Joanna Scheuring-Wielgus said in an interview with Beata Michniewicz on Radio Trójka. “My relations with Ryszard Petru remain good. I send him my warmest regards. I have known Robert [Biedroń] for many, many years. I feel at home in Wiosna. It would be irresponsible for me to join another party within six months. We'll see what happens on May 26th” - she added.

10:17

A New PiS Spot:

The European Coalition Doesn't Want to Show Its Program, But We've Seen It.
They don't have a program, they don't want to show it. We want to emphasize this - says one of the PiS campaign staff, announcing a new spot that 300POLITYKA is publishing first. The spot has a mocking character, using statements from prominent European Coalition politicians, reminding viewers how the PO-PSL coalition raised the retirement age, as well as Marek Belka's words about an "election handout" [ochłap wyborczy], Katarzyna Lubnauer's about the 13th pension and expanding the 500+ program, Tadeusz Zwiefka's about ACTA2, and Jacek Rostowski's statement that "there is no money and there won't be any." Campaign staff emphasized in a conversation with 300POLITYKA that there is no better moment to publish the spot, given that the EC did not want to answer the questions from the "Voter's Lantern" [Latarnik Wyborczy], as reported by the media in recent hours. The EC campaign explained that the proposed questions and the format for answers were "too simplistic to express a position on European matters." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j4n6RPiBu2U&feature=youtu.be

10:33

Bielan:

Those Hesitating Between Us and Smaller Parties, If They Don't Vote for Us, Also Bear Responsibility for Schetyna and Biedroń's Potential Return to Power

- Especially in the European elections, I appeal to all voters hesitating between us and some smaller parties not to waste their vote. I want to remind you that the last European elections were decided in favour of Civic Platform by a margin of 25,000 votes nationwide. Three per mille decided that Civic Platform won the last European elections. I hope I am wrong, but I fear that the result of these European elections may also be close, so I appeal not to waste a vote and not to increase the chances of victory for the European Coalition, because this could later mean their victory in the autumn elections and the rule of Schetyna and Biedroń. If someone hesitates between us and smaller groupings, I don't want to name them, and does not vote for us, they also bear responsibility for the potential return to power of Schetyna and Biedroń - stated Adam Bielan in an interview with Jacek Prusinowski on Radio Plus.

Ewa Kopacz in Campaign Spot: "I Want to Use My Experience as Prime Minister, Marshal of the Sejm, and Minister of Health to Represent Poland and Defend its Interests"

- May 26th is a day of Great Choice. I am heading the list of the European Coalition, which desires a better European future for Poland and a dynamically developing Wielkopolska. I want to use my experience as Prime Minister, Marshal of the Sejm, and Minister of Health to represent Poland and defend its interests. I will fight for Poland to regain its place among European leaders. I ask for your votes, see you on May 26th - says Ewa Kopacz in a clip that 300POLITYKA is publishing first.

Presidential Couple to Visit the White House in June. Topics Include Energy and Business Cooperation, and the Issue of American Presence in Poland
“I am informing you that we have received an official invitation from President Donald Trump for the Polish Presidential Couple to visit Washington in June for talks at the White House. This will be the second meeting of the presidential couples of Poland and the United States within a 10-month period. Details regarding the date and program of the visit will be confirmed by the American side and announced according to their procedures, 30 days before the planned visit,” stated Minister Krzysztof Szczerski at a press briefing. “Issues concerning the Three Seas Initiative and American business presence in the energy, transport, and telecommunications infrastructure of our region's countries, as well as bilateral Polish-American energy and business cooperation. An obvious topic of discussion is also the matter of American presence in Poland. These talks are ongoing. We would like to conclude them within the next few months, so that a model for American presence in Poland and an implementation schedule can be announced,” he added.

Petru Sued by Jarosław Kaczyński Over Tweet on Srebrna: What Do You Call Someone Who Orders and Then Doesn't Pay for a Service? Should I Call Him a Statesman? A Moral Authority?
I have a question for Jarosław Kaczyński. What should I call him now? What do you call a person who orders a service and then doesn't pay for it? Should I call him a statesman? A moral authority? Or should I call him a pillar of honesty or an incompetent person? I would expect an answer – said Ryszard Petru in the Sejm.
The most important thing is that in this case, regarding the scandal, in my opinion, there is a chance that Jarosław Kaczyński will finally start testifying – added Petru.

Another Round of Talks at the Education Round Table. PM Morawiecki: We Continue to Invite Trade Unions That Haven't Joined Us

- I wanted to sincerely thank everyone for the work done so far. First and foremost, without any delay, I will not repeat the introduction or emphasize the importance we place on this, as it is obvious. Primarily, I wanted to thank you and those who worked behind the scenes, our behind-the-scenes team, in these five sub-tables, because we also developed the additional one concerning parents. I would like to express my sincere gratitude, and I can already see from the reporting that is regularly reaching me that very interesting ideas are emerging. Sometimes it happens that they are indeed contradictory. It's as if one part of the table is saying something different from another part of the table, but that's not always the case, and besides, even if it is, it doesn't mean a compromise or common ground cannot be reached – stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki during the so-called education round table talks.

- I hope that we too [like the matura students] will pass this exam together. I am keeping the door open at all times, inviting those trade unions that have not yet decided to join us, and I hope this format will be very open. These deliberations certainly require a longer cycle of meetings, which we are ready for, but if there are any partial conclusions, proposals developed, ready, and having the character of being already consulted, then I think it is worthwhile to implement them successively, without waiting for everything to be agreed upon from beginning to end by everyone, because that may not be so easy – added PMM.

PKO BP: Electricity Production from Renewable Energy Sources Increased in 2018

According to data from the Energy Market Agency, the total installed capacity in photovoltaic systems in Poland nearly doubled by the end of 2018 compared to the previous year, reaching 557 MW. Despite dynamic development, solar power plants account for less than 7% of the total RES capacity.

Significant development of photovoltaics in Poland is predicted in the coming years, which should be favored by:
  1. Assigning an important role to photovoltaics in the energy policy up to 2040 in meeting EU targets related to the share of RES in energy consumption;
  2. Integrating photovoltaic power plants that have won current and planned auctions into the national energy system;
  3. A decrease in module costs due to the European Commission's abolition of anti-dumping duties on cells and panels produced in China;
  4. A dynamically increasing number of prosumers installing domestic solar systems, supported by, among others, the "Energia plus" program developed by the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and the PKO Bank Polski Eco-Loan.

Trzaskowski, Dulkiewicz, and City Mayors Invite to "Commitment to the EU" Demonstration. "Together for Europe" March to Start on May 18th from Castle Square in Warsaw

We are facing some of the most important elections. European elections on May 26th, which are important for all of us, and also important for local governments, because local governments benefit from EU funds. All our cities have changed beyond recognition thanks to EU money. Today, we are very concerned about the government's new regional policy plan, which would cut funds for large cities. We are all involved in a campaign to increase voter turnout. We prepared such a campaign for May 1st. We want to warmly invite everyone to a grand demonstration on May 18th, which will take place in Warsaw - "Together for Europe", because we want to demonstrate our commitment to the European Union and we want to emphasize how incredibly important these elections will be and how important turnout will be. This mobilization is incredibly important for us. We are counting on the same mobilization as in the local government elections” - said the Mayor of Warsaw, Rafał Trzaskowski, at a press conference.

May 26th is Mother's Day. I think on this day, we can think about little else besides the homeland - both the small one, which is Poland, and the larger one, which is Europe - but also take responsibility into our own hands. Leave home, go, vote, to show the commitment of us Poles to the European Union. This isn't just about money. Today we are talking about what it means to be a community. Europe has such a slogan - united in diversity. This is the Poland I dream of, this is the Europe I dream of. Let's come and be together - on May 18th at Castle Square. Let's be united in diversity” - added the Mayor of Gdańsk, Aleksandra Dulkiewicz.

In the European Parliament, We Need Professionals Capable of Effectively Championing Polish Interests. Ziobro Backs Kaleta and Pledges His Vote.
I trust that Minister Kaleta will be among those chosen by the residents of Warsaw and the entire constituency in the upcoming European Parliament elections. I would like to strongly appeal to everyone casting their vote in the Warsaw constituency in the EP elections to please cast their vote for Sebastian Kaleta. I believe this is a very good choice because Kaleta is a young, outstanding lawyer, a legal advisor, and a person already experienced in public life. I have had the opportunity to witness his very high legal qualifications and knowledge in the areas of international and EU law through our extremely intensive cooperation - stated Zbigniew Ziobro at a joint press conference with Sebastian Kaleta in Warsaw. - He is also - alongside Minister Jaki - a main figure in the verification commission, he was, he inspired me and Minister Jaki to establish the Museum of the Cursed Soldiers in Warsaw as part of an initiative led by a young person in Warsaw, aimed at commemorating Rotmistrz Pilecki and many other Polish heroes whose memory the communist authorities had to bury deep underground for many long years. We must remember them, but we should also remember those young Poles who, despite their young age, already have considerable experience and very high qualifications and competencies, which Poland desperately needs in the European Parliament, because there is a dispute there behind which lie interests. We need professionals there, people who can and have the competence to effectively fight for Polish affairs. He is an effective, competent person who will excellently represent the region, the capital city, and Poland in the European Parliament, where a battle is also being waged over whether we will be able to implement, and to what extent, the reform of the justice system so necessary for Poland, and this person can be a great asset to Poland in this matter. I hope this comes to fruition and I am keeping my fingers crossed for you. I myself will vote for you - he added.

14:20

Kaleta:

I Decided to Run in the Elections So That the Voice of a Bold Poland, Which Knows How to Reform the Justice System, Would Be Heard in the EP

I am running in these elections because, after several years of working with Minister Ziobro, I have a strong conviction that Poland needs significant changes, especially in the area of the justice system. I have the pleasure and honor of cooperating with the ministers and being part of this system that is implementing necessary reforms in Poland. However, many matters concerning Poles and residents of Warsaw are decided in the European forum or are subject to discussion there. That is why I decided to run in the elections so that the voice of a bold Poland, which knows how to reform the justice system, would be heard in the European Parliament. Our opposition often conveys incorrect information externally about what is happening in Poland, including at the EP level and before EU bodies. Therefore, I want to be the voice of Poland that shows that we are right in many disputes that are before the EU. Furthermore, the issue of Warsaw's reprivatization has taught me full commitment to the affairs of Warsaw residents, in complex legal matters - stated Sebastian Kaleta at a joint press conference with Zbigniew Ziobro in Warsaw.

15:00

Morawiecki:

Thank You All for Today's Words of Support
Published today in the press – perhaps I will say this generally. My wife and I love our children very, very much. We are proud of them, happy they exist. Our children learn, work, rejoice, and sometimes cry. They are children like many others. My wife and I try to live a normal life, and I thank everyone for today's words of support – stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a briefing following another round of talks within the so-called Education Roundtable, when asked about a front-page publication in "Super Express".

15:02

Prime Minister Morawiecki: Majority of Ministers Running for European Parliament to Take Leave from Monday

- We have indeed agreed with the majority of ministers that those who are involved and want to work very hard on their campaign now, want to take leave. And now, for the last two weeks of this campaign, Minister Zalewska, for example. Today she was absent because she is already involved in her campaign duties. Similarly, other ministers and deputy ministers who are actively participating in the campaign, starting from Monday, many of them, perhaps even a vast majority, are indeed planning to take such leave - stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a briefing following another round of talks within the so-called Educational Round Table.

15:05

PM on Government Reshuffle: Rather Around the Elections, Rather Right After the Elections. I'd Like to Ultimately Know Which Ministers Will Get into the EP
Regarding changes at the government level, as I announced, we are planning them rather around the elections, rather right after the elections. This is because, after all, I would ultimately like to know which ministers will get into the EP, and that depends solely on the will of the voters - stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a briefing following another round of talks within the so-called Education Roundtable.

16:31

Szumowski:

Next Week We Will Submit a Motion to Increase the NFZ Financial Plan, Leading Public Healthcare Spending to Exceed PLN 100 Billion for the First Time in History This Year

- Next week, we will submit a motion to increase the financial plan of the National Health Fund, thanks to which public spending on healthcare will exceed the level of PLN 100 billion for the first time in history this year – announced the Minister of Health, Łukasz Szumowski, during today's press conference.

The additional funds are intended, among other things, to improve access to medical services, shorten queues, invest in personnel, and expand oncology and cardiology programs, as well as thrombectomy.

The motion to increase the funds available to the NFZ will be submitted to the Sejm to obtain the opinion of the Health and Public Finance Committees. - As a doctor, I have always helped every patient, because health has no political colors. Therefore, I now hope that the most important problems of Poles will be solved beyond divisions. I am counting on our proposal to increase healthcare spending to over PLN 100 billion this year to gain the support of all political forces in the Sejm – said Szumowski.

Czarnecki:

I've won in court against the European Coalition for the second time

- Another win in court. I have won against the European Coalition for the second time. The first time in the District Court, and now in the Court of Appeal. The court has forbidden the European Coalition from disseminating the false information about me, 'Warning! He's fleeing to Brussels'. This ruling shows that it's not worth lying during an election campaign, European Coalition - Ryszard Czarnecki wrote on Twitter.

Next Week We Will Expand the Coalition to Include More Parties

- This is everything common that we managed to put together and build a coalition consisting of five entities, political parties, which we will now, in the next step, next week, expand to include more parties - said Grzegorz Schetyna during the debate "How to Defeat Populism. Theory and Practice."

Schetyna:

After a victorious election, which I deeply believe in, we must establish principles and a parliamentary majority to prevent a PiS relapse

No Apology or Correction from the European Commission to Czarnecki. The EC Can Only Not Say He 'Fled to Brussels'

The head of the European Commission's staff, Marcin Kierwiński, announced that in the second instance, the court decided there would be no apology or correction in the case brought by Ryszard Czarnecki. According to sources speaking to 300POLITYKI, the court only prohibited the use of the statement that Czarnecki was "fleeing to Brussels," but the EC staff are taking this calmly, as the campaign has concluded.

SLD Unveils "Star Team" on European Coalition Lists. "It's Great, Olek, That They're All Running for the European Parliament! If Not Them, Then Who? They're the Best."

In the latest spot, which 300POLITYKA is publishing first, leading SLD candidates on the European Coalition (KE) lists are on the phone while watching Prime Minister Morawiecki's speech, in which he stated, "I myself negotiated Poland's membership in the European Union."

Leszek Miller, driving his car, receives a call from Marek Belka, who is running on a treadmill. In response to the question, "Leszek, did you hear what I heard? This will all end with the withdrawal of subsidies and funds!", Miller replies, "He could have at least waited until I died." Małgorzata Sekuła-Szmajdzińska also calls Miller, saying, "We can't leave all of this like this." Włodzimierz Czarzasty sends an SMS to all the leading Alliance candidates on the KE lists: "You are needed!" In the final scene, Czarzasty speaks with Aleksander Kwaśniewski while picking up a takeaway coffee (the former president is without a drink):

- It's great, Olek, that they're all running for the European Parliament! - Of course it's great, Włodek. If not them, then who? They're the best.

A call to vote for SLD candidates on the KE lists was read by Katarzyna Maria Piekarska. Włodzimierz Cimoszewicz did not appear in the spot, but he is the first to appear on Czarzasty's SMS list.

Kantar for TVN: PAD Leads Presidential Poll, Wins Against Tusk in Second Round

Here are the results of the telephone poll conducted by Kantar on behalf of "Fakty" TVN:

Andrzej Duda - 41%

Donald Tusk - 28%

Paweł Kukiz - 7%

Robert Biedroń - 6%

Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz - 5%

Janusz Korwin-Mikke - 4%

Adrian Zandberg - 1%

Don't know/hard to say - 8%

In the second round, Andrzej Duda would defeat Donald Tusk by a margin of 56:40. As TVN emphasizes, the above results mean that compared to a similar poll from November 2018, support for Andrzej Duda has increased by 6 percentage points (from 50% to 56%), and support for Donald Tusk has decreased by 5 percentage points (from 45% to 40%).

4% chose the option "don't know/hard to say". The telephone poll was conducted from May 8-10 on a nationwide, representative sample of individuals aged 18 and over. The sample size was 1001 people.

NFZ Budget for Healthcare Financing to Exceed 100 Billion PLN. Amendment to the Fund's Financial Plan Next Week

"Already this year, we approached a record amount of almost 100 billion zlotys in the NFZ budget for healthcare financing. I can say that this is very good news for patients, this amount will exceed 100 billion zlotys, because next week there will be an amendment to the NFZ's financial plan, and indeed another 4 billion zlotys will be allocated for this purpose," Minister Jacek Sasin said in an interview with Piotr Witwicki on Polsat News' "Events and Opinions."

"What the opposition promises Poles, we deliver. This is not the first time, and not only in this area. We are genuinely working and acting, and we are showing that results can be achieved. This 100 billion that Schetyna is promising is an absolutely virtual 100 billion" – said Minister Jacek Sasin in an interview with Piotr Witwicki on Polsat News' "Wydarzenia i opinie" (Events and Opinions).

"We are currently talking about a certain [budget] proposal that Commissioner Bieńkowska signed, for which Mr. Tusk is responsible, and which is endorsed by the EPP, to which PO belongs. This is a proposal from our political opponents. We are sitting down for these negotiations. We negotiate the budget for Poland much more effectively than PO did," Minister Jacek Sasin said in an interview with Piotr Witwicki on "Wydarzenia i opinie" (Events and Opinions) on Polsat News. "This budget, which we will negotiate, will be higher than the one negotiated by Civic Platform 7 years ago. I am sure that this budget will be higher. If we negotiate this budget, it will be higher in terms of the amount Poland receives," he added.

The Tu-154M Wreckage Would Have Returned to Poland If We Had Been Able to Handle This Matter From the Start. We Knew Who Ruled for 8 Years, But We Didn't Realize How Deeply This Matter Had Been Bogged Down
"[The wreckage] would have returned [to Poland] if we had been able to handle this matter from the start. We cannot abstract from this. We knew who ruled for 8 years, but we didn't realize how deeply this matter had been bogged down. We hit a wall because the Russian partner is a difficult partner. Our predecessors led to a situation where they handed the Russian partner an alibi on a platter," said Minister Jacek Sasin in an interview with Piotr Witwicki in "Events and Opinions" on Polsat News.

Cimoszewicz on EP Elections: I Wouldn't Be Surprised by Turnout of 40 or 50 Percent, Mainly in Big Cities

- Of course, [poll] declarations are always exaggerated. About 15-20% fewer people vote later, but I wouldn't be surprised by a turnout of 40 or 50 percent, mainly in big cities - said Włodzimierz Cimoszewicz in a conversation with Katarzyna Kolenda-Zaleska on TVN24's "Fakty po faktach".

Cimoszewicz on the EP Campaign: I Expect Two Weeks of Daily Boxing, Where Sensations Will Fly Every Two Hours

- If Mr. Kaczyński resorts to or flees to these types of slogans and methods [concerning the Church], I see it as a sign of internal panic, and I simply expect two weeks of daily boxing, and the kind of boxing where sensations will fly every two hours - said Włodzimierz Cimoszewicz in an interview with Katarzyna Kolenda-Zaleska on TVN24's "Fakty po faktach".

I feel physically unchanged, very well. I have no intention of withdrawing from the elections

- Physically, I feel unchanged, very well. It is prostate cancer, which has approximately a 90% cure rate. I deeply believe I will succeed if I don't break down myself. In this case, positive thinking is of colossal importance. Final tests will be done next week, and we will determine the type of therapy. I am convinced that if I am elected to the European Parliament, it will not hinder me, but I felt I had to communicate this to people. I have no intention of withdrawing from the elections - said Włodzimierz Cimoszewicz in an interview with Katarzyna Kolenda-Zaleska on TVN24's "Fakty po faktach".

Tusk:

Poland is Still Seen Worldwide as the Homeland of Victorious 'Solidarity'

- When I travel to European capitals and beyond, the experience is both uplifting and incredibly profound. Poland is still seen worldwide as the homeland of victorious 'Solidarity', but understood as a great peaceful movement - Donald Tusk said during the 30th-anniversary gala of Gazeta Wyborcza.

22:25

Tusk:

A United European Union is an Evident Polish Interest

- A united European Union is undoubtedly an evident Polish interest. We can and should debate the process of integration, its pace, and the role of nation-states. The Union is a process, so these are open questions, but I see no reason for Poland's European identity to become the subject of a civil war – Donald Tusk stated during the 30th-anniversary gala of Gazeta Wyborcza.

Tusk:

It's Inconceivable to Me That Anyone Would See Any Interest in Not Building the Best Possible Relations with Our Neighbors, Especially Those with Whom History Has Been Most Difficult

- There is a problem of reconciliation with our neighbors. It's inconceivable to me that anyone would seriously see any Polish interest in us not building the best possible relations with our neighbors, especially with those with whom history has been most difficult - Donald Tusk said during the 30th-anniversary gala of Gazeta Wyborcza.

22:31

Tusk:

We Need the EU Understood as a Continuous Process of Building Agreement and Compromise
When I look today at the disputes, I listen to the disputes concerning, of course, the internal situation in Poland, but also in the EU and the broader geopolitical situation in the world, I always have one very strongly felt reflection or impression. We often hear arguments in debates about the future of Europe, that we cannot be integrated, build this united Europe, because Europe consists of independent nations and states, with their own interests, sentiments, resentments, with the baggage of history, and that therefore this idea of integration and connection has no future, no chance of success. Excuse me for the banality, but I must say this very loudly today. It is exactly the opposite. I realize, and the same truth applies to Poland, that precisely because a united Europe understood as a single civic nation, without different languages, national ambitions, is a mirage, yes, it is a mirage. I will certainly not live to see the moment when European identity will be stronger, more emotional for the overwhelming majority of people than national identity. But precisely because of this, we need the EU understood as a continuous process of building agreement and compromise. Precisely because the past, present interests, and emotions so often bring us to the brink of conflict. The only method of protecting Europe as a whole and each European nation individually, protection against sharp conflict, is, in a sense, action perhaps not against, but above those circumstances that so often force us into disputes or conflicts – said Donald Tusk during the 30th-anniversary gala of Gazeta Wyborcza.

Tusk:

We Can Achieve a Lot Together in Poland, and Ruin a Lot if We Go Our Separate Ways

- Let's remember this. We can achieve a lot together in Poland, and we can ruin a lot if we go our separate ways - said Donald Tusk during the 30th-anniversary gala of Gazeta Wyborcza.

Tusk:

Everyone Has the Right to Dream of Victory, But Not to Annihilation of Opponents
- We will be choosing our parliamentarians, presidents, MEPs. Someone will win, someone will lose. But victory in an election, I've experienced many defeats and many victories in my life, I know what I'm talking about, does not mean that opponents will disappear from view. We in Poland will live with each other for the next 5, 10, 100, 200 years. Those who choose a pro-European coalition, those who choose PiS. Those who are deeply attached to the church, even if they are sometimes annoyed by the political involvement of clergy, and those who believe that a secular state is their highest priority. We will continue to live together here. Everyone has the right to dream of victory in sports, life, politics, but no one should turn this desire for victory into a desire for the annihilation of an opponent or adversary - Donald Tusk said during the 30th-anniversary gala of Gazeta Wyborcza.
