Anaszewicz:

PiS is Essentially Fighting Every Professional and Social Group, and Now the Euro is Suddenly the Next Enemy

- When I listen to subsequent PiS conventions and the speeches of party leader Jarosław Kaczyński, I'm a little afraid to wake up and see who will be the enemy of Law and Justice and leader Kaczyński tomorrow, because leader Kaczyński is afraid of women, he fights against gender, he fights against teachers, he fights against people with disabilities, he fights against court employees. Essentially, PiS is fighting every professional group, every social group today, and now suddenly the euro is the next enemy - stated Marcin Anaszewicz on Dariusz Ociepa's "Śniadanie w Polsat News" (Breakfast on Polsat News).

10:17

Pasławska:

You Want to Humiliate Them Like the Disabled and Starve Them. We Have a Week Until the Holidays, We Expect Concrete Actions
- I am outraged by the attitude of those in power; you are gambling with the fate of children, undermining the authority of teachers. If there was political will, we pushed through laws in this Sejm in 24 hours, and the teachers' demands have been known since December. You want to humiliate them like the disabled and starve them. Perhaps the President should shake up the Prime Minister, or the Prime Minister should make a man's decision and dismiss Minister Zalewska and take over the ministry himself. We have a week until the holidays, we expect concrete actions. Education spending as a percentage of GDP has fallen - said Urszula Pasławska from the PSL in Woronicza 17.

10:17

Anaszewicz to Dera: You are constantly acting as PiS's spokesperson, not a minister
- I have a problem understanding your presence here in this studio. Are you representing Kaczyński or President Duda? Because you are constantly acting as PiS's spokesperson, not a minister - stated Marcin Anaszewicz in Dariusz Ociepa's "Polsat News Breakfast", addressing Andrzej Dera.

10:18

Dera on Bierecki's Remarks: Such Phrasing Should Not Be Used, as It Suggests Things From the Past. Fortunately, He Apologized.
- Such phrasing should not be used, as it suggests things from the past. Someone who knows history thoroughly should know that such associations can be made. Fortunately, he apologized for it – stated Andrzej Dera on Polsat News's "Breakfast" with Dariusz Ociepa, referring to the remarks made by Grzegorz Bierecki.

Civic Platform Responds to PiS on Inflation: "PiS Ensured Poles European Prices for the Holidays!" Christmas Shopping More Expensive Than Last Year

PiS zapewnił Polakom europejskie ceny na święta!
Świąteczne zakupy droższe niż w zeszłym roku.

Gasiuk-Pihowicz on Bierecki's Statement: Any Decent Party Would Expel a Person Who Speaks Like That

- Any decent party would expel a person who speaks like that from its ranks, and you are doing nothing - stated Kamila Gasiuk-Pihowicz on "Śniadanie w Polsat News" with Dariusz Ociepa, referring to Grzegorz Bierecki's statement.

Dolniak:

The Government Had Enough Time. You Attacked People with Disabilities in the Same Way. Today, You Are Building a Conflict Around Maturita Exams in the Same Manner.
- You attacked people with disabilities in the same way. Today, you are building a conflict around maturita exams in the same manner, already knowing that a general strike was being prepared. The government had enough time – Barbara Dolniak said on Woronicza 17.

Dolniak:

I Am Among Those Who Want the Euro in Poland. It's a Matter of Creating and Fulfilling the Conditions
- I am among those who want the Euro in Poland. It's a matter of creating the conditions and fulfilling them - said Barbara Dolniak on Woronicza 17. - The Euro will be introduced when it is beneficial for Poles, please don't worry - she added.

10:50

Lubnauer:

I appeal to the Prime Minister that if he wants to convene a roundtable on teachers' salaries, he should do it immediately

- First and foremost, I appeal to Prime Minister Morawiecki that if he wants to convene a roundtable on teachers' salaries, he should do it immediately, preferably from Monday. Then we won't have problems with classifying students or with exams - stated Katarzyna Lubnauer on TVN24's "Coffee on the Bench".

10:51

Pasławska:

Today, there is no such discussion on the international stage, and we do not need to make binding decisions on this matter
- Nobody is asking us about it, nor is anyone saying that Poland is to join the Euro. No one is saying that we will never enter the Eurozone. In 2013, Mr. Morawiecki praised the Eurozone, and Zyta Gilowska spoke about it as Minister of Finance. Today, there is no such discussion on the international stage, and we do not need to make binding decisions on this matter - said Urszula Pasławska on Woronicza 17.

10:53

Wenderlich:

When the Euro is introduced in Poland, we will have European salaries and European pensions. Let's not allow PiS to turn it into a scare tactic
- Morawiecki presented countries that are starting to do poorly. When the Euro is introduced in Poland, we will have European salaries and European pensions. Let's not allow PiS to turn it into a scare tactic - said Jerzy Wenderlich on Woronicza 17.

11:04

Arłukowicz:

Teachers Today Are Fighting for Dignity
Teachers today are no longer fighting for PLN 1000; they are fighting for dignity, not only for teachers but for us, the parents. Of course, the [strike] must and should continue – stated Bartosz Arłukowicz on TVN24's "Kawa na ławę".

11:08

Bielan:

Today, ZNP is doing everything to bring about a change of government in Poland

Today, unfortunately, ZNP is doing everything to bring about a change of government in Poland. I ask all teachers, who are rightly frustrated, often their wages are below standards, but I ask them if they truly believe that the PO government, if it returns to power, will fulfill their demands at a time when it froze their salaries for 3 years – stated Adam Bielan on TVN24's "Kawa na ławę".

The Political Week Ahead: Teachers' Strike Continues, Government Discusses 500+ Expansion, EU Election List Deadline, Rating Update, President Duda in Koło, PM Morawiecki in Brussels

The upcoming week in politics – likely a bit shorter due to the Easter holidays – will primarily be marked by the continuation of the teachers' protest and further discussions on education reforms. The government is set to address the expansion of the 500+ child benefit to the first child, while the VAT parliamentary committee will question a former Deputy Minister of Finance. Additionally, this week marks the deadline for registering candidate lists for the European Parliament elections, and another major rating agency will update Poland's sovereign rating.

Teachers' Protest Continues. - "The Main Board Presidium has decided to continue the strike, conducted within the framework of a collective dispute, and to request the Prime Minister to immediately commence talks with the Polish Teachers' Union with the participation of an external mediator," stated Sławomir Broniarz in a press conference. Consequently, the protest will continue next week, although it will likely be suspended for the Easter period.

PMM in Brussels. On Monday, Prime Minister Morawiecki will continue his visit to Brussels, which began on Sunday. The schedule includes meetings with the Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, the Vice-President of the European Commission Maroš Šefčovič, the Commissioner for Budget and Human Resources Günther Oettinger, and participation in the ceremony for signing the funding agreement for the Baltic Pipe project from the CEF fund.

Government to Discuss 500+ Expansion. The upcoming government session – likely on Tuesday – is expected to review the draft bill expanding the 500+ child benefit to cover the first child. Beata Mazurek mentioned this a few days ago, and our sources confirm it. As early as the beginning of April, 300POLITYKA reported that PiS aims to pass the expansion of 500+ in a single session, within nine hours – immediately after the holidays.

Deadline for EU Election List Registration. On Tuesday at midnight, the deadline for submitting candidate lists for the European Parliament elections will expire. In practice, some committees have already done so. This will mark the commencement of the next stage of the campaign – presumably right after the holidays.

Neneman Interrogation. On Tuesday at 11:30 AM, the VAT parliamentary committee will question Jarosław Neneman, the former Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Finance. This is the only scheduled interrogation for this week, but the committee will convene 30 minutes prior to discuss "current matters."

PAD in Koło. On Tuesday at 12:00 PM, President Andrzej Duda will present state decorations at the Presidential Palace for contributions to activities supporting those in need of assistance. Later that day, President Duda will visit Koło in the Greater Poland Voivodeship, where he will meet with residents of the Koło district at 5:00 PM.

Poland's Rating Update. On Friday, Moody's – one of the three major rating agencies – will review Poland's sovereign rating. This will be another update in recent times. On Friday, the agency Standard & Poor's confirmed Poland's long-term rating at A-, with a stable outlook.

PM Begins Two-Day Visit to Brussels. Focus on Agriculture and Energy Security, Statement to Media at 5:15 PM Today

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki is beginning a two-day visit to Brussels. In the evening, he will meet with the Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Phil Hogan. The primary goal of today's discussions is to secure funding that will enable the modernization of Polish agriculture.

Today, before his departure, Prime Minister Morawiecki will deliver a statement to the media around 5:15 PM.

- This is a continuation of the meeting held in Rzeszów a few weeks ago. Now, we are already working on the budget within the new perspective. We have high-quality products, but we must ensure a level playing field for everyone - emphasizes one of PM's closest associates.

Tomorrow, the head of government is scheduled to address issues related to energy security. Details are to be announced tomorrow, but according to one of our sources, it will be further proof of our effectiveness and credibility, this time in the area of achieving energy independence from Russia.

Tomorrow's agenda includes meetings with the Vice-President of the European Commission, Maroš Šefčovič, and the Commissioner for Budget and Human Resources, Günther Oettinger.

PM Morawiecki Appeals for Teacher Strike Suspension During Holy Week and Final Exams

- I want to very warmly ask teachers to ensure that tomorrow, Tuesday, and Wednesday, the final exams in primary schools proceed without any disruptions. We should have a common principle that where the well-being of young people, students, is concerned, disputes between - let's call them for now - adults should be set aside. Disputes must not disrupt the normal conduct of exams. I would also like to appeal for the suspension of this protest for the upcoming holidays, Holy Week, if it cannot be concluded, at least to halt it for this period. As I promised a few days ago, we intend to launch the round table initiative immediately after the holidays - stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki before his departure to Brussels. He added:

"I would like to thank the trade unionists and teachers here for responding positively to this appeal. I appreciate it greatly. It is a step in the right direction for both sides and a convergence of positions. I would like to invite educators, pedagogues, teachers, trade unionists, of course, but also parents to the round table, so that parents can primarily be convinced that the school is teaching in the right way, that it has good teachers. In the coming years, we also want to ensure that they are rewarded and motivated even better, in the best possible way, also with as little bureaucracy as possible. This is extremely important."

- I would like to ask that the round table be a new opening and that we all respect this initiative together, and that tomorrow the exams proceed according to plan - emphasized the head of the Polish government.

PM:

I'd like clarification from the European Coalition: are they aiming to abandon the złoty? Citizens need clarity

I would like to ask for some clarification from Civic Platform, the European Coalition, about the issue of whether they aim to abandon the złoty, or if they are in favor of maintaining our national currency. Yesterday, in my speech in Lublin, I tried to present the main advantages of having our national currency. But setting aside such details, citizens need clarity on whether Civic Platform, nomen omen, or the European Coalition is in favor of keeping the złoty or abandoning the złoty, our national currency. Perhaps on this one matter alone, the European Coalition has some common ground. One cannot deceive or mislead citizens. One must say whether we are 'for' keeping the złoty or for abandoning this, our national currency. I am aware of statements by Mr. Schetyna and Ms. Lubnauer, which by no means nuance or differentiate this approach. They are unequivocally in favor of abandoning the złoty, of introducing the euro currency, and I expect the European Coalition to unequivocally declare itself in favor of keeping the złoty or against it," stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki before departing for Brussels.

PM Before Brussels Visit: We Will Strive for the Best Possible EU Budget Conditions for Poland

- Every 7 years this [EU] budget is negotiated, and we will strive for the conditions of this budget to be as favorable as possible for Poland. I am starting by saying that today I am meeting with Phil Hogan, the commissioner responsible for agriculture. Agriculture is one of the key areas for us that we are negotiating. The Common Agricultural Policy, direct payments for farmers, but also the rural development program, under which we modernize the infrastructure of rural areas, is crucial for us and our agriculture - stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki before departing for Brussels. - I can say that we are on the right track to make this budget even better for Poland than we previously envisioned - he emphasized.

Nowicka and Łoboda Criticize TVN Debate on Polish Schools:

Couldn't Find a Single Female Teacher?

- Five gentlemen participated in the debate about teachers in Polish schools. Did TVN not notice that the vast majority of pedagogical staff in kindergartens and schools are women? Couldn't they find a single female teacher? - wrote Dorota Łoboda, one of the leaders of the Parents Against Education Reform movement and a Warsaw councilor, on Twitter.

- Exactly. Apparently, it didn't occur to TVN24, not for the first time by the way, that women have just as much to say about Polish schools and the situation of teachers (male and female) - added Wanda Nowicka.
