Sasin on New PiS Proposals: A Concrete Roadmap Will Be Available Tomorrow

- Tomorrow it will be possible to talk about a concrete roadmap, meaning the presentation of the implementation of these individual proposals - said Jacek Sasin in an interview with Katarzyna Gójska on "Sygnały Dnia" on Polish Radio One.

- Appropriate laws will be adopted this year that will decide on this. These laws will be passed even before the parliamentary elections, so that we can tell Poles that this is not a set of future promises, but very concrete things that we want to implement within this term - Sasin added.

07:35

Sasin:

We Don't Foresee Budget Act Amendments. Funding for these proposals may come from budget reallocations.

- We do not foresee any amendments to the budget act. According to preliminary estimates from the Ministry of Finance, funding for the implementation of these proposals may be achieved through budget reallocations, and this is likely how it will indeed be handled. There is no question of us raising budget deficit forecasts - said Jacek Sasin in an interview with Katarzyna Gójska on Radio Jedynka's "Sygnały Dnia".

07:41

Sasin:

We have a problem with the Polish Teachers' Union due to its political connotations

- I must say that we have a certain problem with the Polish Teachers' Union, which stems from the fact, and this is somewhat objective, that it is a union that also has its political connotations. After all, we remember that the ZNP ran in the parliamentary elections aligned with the SLD. Chairman Broniarz himself has not hidden his political views in the past - said Jacek Sasin in an interview with Katarzyna Gójska on Polskie Radio Programu 1's "Sygnały Dnia".

Dworczyk on the New 'Five-Point Plan': Programs Were Consulted, Primarily with Directional Ministers
  • This is the PiS 'Five-Point Plan'. Naturally, Chairman Kaczyński, as the leader of our party, is the face of this plan. The government is an emanation of the parliamentary majority, and our programs are created in consensus between the parliamentary majority and the government. These programs were, of course, consulted, primarily with directional ministers. Not all members of the Council of Ministers were privy to all the details – stated Michał Dworczyk in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".
  • The budget has been constructed in such a way, and was prepared with this intention, so that it would not need to undergo changes and amendments. We hope that within the planned indicators, after the implementation of the announced 'Five-Point Plan', there will be no changes, apart from shifts that are, of course, necessary – added the Head of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.

07:51

Dworczyk on the New 'Five': 'This is not about handing out money. Above all, these are pro-development programs.'

- This is not about handing out money. Above all, these are pro-development programs, because if you look at this 'Five', then apart from the benefit called 'Retirement Plus', where it is indeed a benefit of a social, solidarity nature, all the other programs are development programs. Investment in the family [500+]. Who will pay taxes in the future? We can talk about trends after a few years, therefore, today formulating such theses [regarding 500+] is, it seems to me, premature - stated Michał Dworczyk in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

07:57

Dworczyk:

We are convinced that next year, if Poland maintains its development momentum, we will also be able to implement ambitious development and solidarity programs
There is nothing to suggest that any slowdown or economic cycle will occur this year that could change anything in this area. The funds for this year are guaranteed and budgeted, and we are convinced that next year, if Poland maintains its development momentum, we will also be able to implement ambitious development and solidarity programs - stated Michał Dworczyk in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

07:59

Dworczyk:

In an election year, everything has an electoral context
In politics, in an election year, everything has an electoral context. That's clear. However, I will admit something else first and foremost: that the program adopted by PiS in 2014 is being consistently implemented, and today's programs and projects that we are presenting are a development and consequence of that program – stated Michał Dworczyk in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

08:02

Dworczyk:

We Cannot Fulfill All Expectations. State Policy is an Integrated Whole, We Cannot Limit Ourselves to One Professional or Social Group

- I agree with you, naturally, we cannot fulfill all expectations. State policy is an integrated whole. This means we cannot limit ourselves to one professional or social group. Therefore, it must be said that we are trying to respond to the expectations of individual professional and social groups, but we also look at the state as a whole. If we are launching pro-development programs, it is with the hope that they will stimulate the economy, increase budget revenues, and allow us to implement more solidarity programs - stated Michał Dworczyk in a conversation with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

08:09

Dworczyk Asked if Government Reshuffle is Planned Only for Post-Election Period: 'To My Knowledge, Yes, But These Are Decisions of the Prime Minister and Political Leadership'

- I don't know anything about [ministers running for the EP] receiving any suggestions [regarding leave]. Each minister will make those decisions individually. But we know that some ministers have such plans. Minister Brudziński spoke about it on one of the radio stations - stated Michał Dworczyk in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

When asked if a government reshuffle is planned only for the post-election period, the Head of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister replied: - To my knowledge, yes, but these are decisions of the Prime Minister and the political leadership.

08:14

Dworczyk on his 33,000 PLN flight to Wrocław: I had to urgently meet with the voivode

- The coalition, I remind you, was signed a week earlier. Anyone who visits any news website can verify this. This is not being said by any PiS member, party representative, or anyone else, these are facts. We signed the coalition agreement a week earlier in front of the cameras - stated Michał Dworczyk in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piasecka".

- I can say what I have repeatedly said in December. I had to urgently meet with the voivode. In the 1.5 years that I have held the position of Head of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, this situation has occurred once, I have used the government plane twice. Once I had to fly to Wrocław, once I had to urgently fly to Kaunas, also on the Prime Minister's order - he added.

08:25

Petru:

Congratulations to Ms. Dulkiewicz. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for her presidency. The campaign was very calm. It's important to lead Gdańsk in this spirit for the coming years.
- Firstly, congratulations to Ms. Dulkiewicz. Secondly, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for her presidency. The campaign was very, very calm, exceptional, of course. It's important to lead Gdańsk in this spirit for the coming years. What's important there is not only the atmosphere in Gdańsk, after what happened, but also Gdańsk's cooperation with Sopot and Gdynia - stated Ryszard Petru in an interview with Piotr Witwicki on Polsat News' "Polityczne Graffiti".

08:27

Petru:

Money Should Be Found for Teachers and Nurses. Their Salaries Are So Low That People Don't Want to Enter These Professions

- Precisely for teachers and nurses, money should be found. This is because these are two groups that have not had significant raises for many years. Their salaries are at such a level that people simply do not want to enter these professions - stated Ryszard Petru in a conversation with Piotr Witwicki on Polsat News' "Polityczne Graffiti".

- If we hear for years that there is no money, no money, and suddenly PiS pulls tens of billions out of a hat and says: 500+ for the first child, 13th pension, then these groups have a right to feel pissed off, cheated. The same goes for caregivers of people with disabilities. This is a kind of deception on the part of PiS, because for years they said there wasn't any - he added.

08:31

Petru:

I Will Propose an Amendment to Exclude the Richest from the 500+ Program

- I will be submitting an amendment to exclude the richest, wealthiest individuals from this program [500+] - stated Ryszard Petru in an interview with Piotr Witwicki on Polsat News' "Polityczne Graffiti" (Political Graffiti). He also expressed hope that this amendment "would be supported by the majority of the opposition." As he stated, it would result in "enormous savings" of 4-5 billion PLN.

Szymański Assesses Hard Brexit Risk: It Has Never Been Higher

- Unfortunately, I assess it as quite high. It has never been higher. Of course, we are doing everything to avoid it. The European Union member states, with Poland at the forefront, because Poland has played an absolutely crucial role in this matter from the very beginning - said Konrad Szymański in an interview with Beata Michniewicz on Polskie Radio Trójka's "Political Salon".

08:39

Szymański on Potential Second Brexit Referendum: A Very Bad Precedent

- Everything is possible, but it is less likely, because introducing double referendums on the same issue, within a short period of time, in order to achieve a different result, is a very bad precedent - said Konrad Szymański in an interview with Beata Michniewicz on Polskie Radio 3's "Political Salon."

Bielan:

I Congratulate Dulkiewicz and Hope She Will Govern the City Well

"Yes, of course, I congratulate Ms. Dulkiewicz on her victory and hope she will govern the city well. [Gdańsk residents] made a choice according to their conscience. This result is not surprising, because as the editor knows perfectly well, the main political parties did not field any counter-candidates. We understood that a few months ago, Paweł Adamowicz was granted a mandate to exercise power, and after his death" - said the Deputy Marshal of the Senate, Adam Bielan, in an interview with Beata Lubecka on Radio Zet.

09:41

Bielan on his European Parliament Candidacy: I didn't seek it out. I received an offer and accepted it. I am proud to lead such a strong list.

"I didn't seek it out, I received an offer and accepted it. We are fielding a very strong list in Mazowsze with several prominent names of current MPs and senators. My colleague from the Senate Presidium, Deputy Marshal Koc, will also be running, and I am truly proud to be the leader of such a strong list" - said the Deputy Marshal of the Senate, Adam Bielan, in an interview with Beata Lubecka on Radio Zet.

09:43

Bielan on Szczerski's Statement: It Was Distorted. No One in the Studio Was Outraged

I think that [Krzysztof Szczerski’s] statement was distorted. However, I repeat, I was in the studio during the debate, and no one was outraged by the entire statement, not just this one sentence taken out of context. Minister Szczerski was not trying to encourage teachers to – as you put it – reproduce, but he meant that the 500+ program is a universal program, and it is used by teachers, miners, and all other professions” - said Deputy Speaker of the Senate, Adam Bielan, in an interview with Beata Lubecka on Radio Zet.

Nowak on Tusk's Return: I Wish Tusk Too Well to Persuade Him to Anything Today

- I'm not waiting for any return. I generally believe that returns in politics don't always succeed. I simply think that everyone should do what they do best, in the place where they happen to work, where they currently are. What history will decide, what fate will decide, what electoral moods will decide, we will see - said Sławomir Nowak in an interview with Wirtualna Polska.

- I wish Donald Tusk too well to persuade him to anything today and to put him under any pressure - added Nowak.

Dulkiewicz Becomes Mayor of Gdańsk. Official Election Results Are In

The results of the early elections are being published on Twitter by Magdalena Skorupka-Kaczmarek.

10:35

Czarnecki:

Through Very Strong Lists for the EP, We Aim to Mobilize Our Electorate

Our electorate did not treat these elections as a priority and usually turned out to vote [for the EP] to a lesser extent. The electorate of left-wing or liberal circles did participate. Five years ago, turnout in Warsaw was 38%, in Mazovia – 26%. In Mazovia, PiS clearly won, while in Warsaw and its surroundings, Platforma prevailed. Through these very strong lists, we aim to mobilize our electorate, which is very important to us” – said PiS MEP Ryszard Czarnecki in an interview with Jacek Prusinowski in the Radio Plus program „Sedno Sprawy” (The Core of the Matter).

10:41

Kuźmiuk:

European Parliament Elections are the First Round of Polish Parliamentary Elections

- At the time, when some of these people were entering ministries, there were declarations that if governing goes well for us, then they would run for the European Parliament. But besides that, even more importantly – the chairman didn't hide it: the European Parliament elections are the first round of elections to the Polish parliament – said Zbigniew Kuźmiuk in an interview with Robert Mazurek on RMF FM, commenting on the presence of ministers and deputy ministers on the Law and Justice lists in the EP elections. - These elections are incredibly important for domestic reasons – he added.

10:48

Sellin:

Yesterday I signaled to Dulkiewicz that I would like to meet and continue discussing the European Solidarity Centre
I congratulate Aleksandra Dulkiewicz on her victory - stated Jarosław Sellin in an interview with Marek Kacprzak on WP's "Tłit" program. He added:
"I would like something to change in Gdańsk. I would like there to be a bit more care for the neglected districts, for the poorer people in Gdańsk, a bit less subservience to developers, because Gdańsk is often spoken of as a developers' republic where everything is permitted. I would be more assertive."
- I wish Mrs. Dulkiewicz courage in governing with integrity and not yielding to lobbyists from powerful circles, especially business ones - continued the Deputy Minister of Culture.
"There is no need to fight over the European Solidarity Centre (ECS). It is about restoring a certain normality regarding the financing of the ECS. I would encourage the mayor - besides, yesterday I signaled to her that I would like to meet and continue discussing this matter. To encourage the ECS to have a chance to regain its independence. This independence was broken by Civic Platform (PO)."

Tomczyk:

We are filing a request to President Duda for the immediate dismissal of Minister Szczerski

- Minister Szczerski's words are not only scandalous, they are simply destructive. Today, we also want to recall the words of Ms. Beata Mazurek, who once advised single mothers to stabilize their family situation and have more children. How little empathy one must have, how much contempt for another human being, to utter words like Minister Szczerski or Ms. Mazurek. Today, we are filing a request to President Duda, based on the Rules of Procedure of the Chancellery of the Sejm and the Constitution, for the immediate dismissal of Mr. Minister Szczerski. Minister Szczerski is a minister in the Chancellery of the President, he is the head of the Cabinet of the President of the Republic of Poland. If he is not immediately dismissed, it means that President Andrzej Duda approves of such opinions that refer to entire professional groups and are exclusionary towards millions of people in our country - said Cezary Tomczyk during a press conference in the Sejm.

PSL Submits the "People's Social Package" to the Sejm. Paszyk: A Bill Covering Crucial Social Needs Ignored by Kaczyński and PiS

- Today, the Polish People's Party (PSL) is submitting the "People's Social Package" to the Sejm. This is a bill that addresses the most important social needs, which President Kaczyński and the Law and Justice party (PiS) have completely forgotten about. We are talking about the need to increase teacher salaries by PLN 1000, regardless of their academic or professional degree - stated Krzysztof Paszyk during a press conference in the Sejm.

- In this project, we also specify and guarantee an additional PLN 500 benefit for every child, regardless of whether they are the first child or in which family they were born - Paszyk assured.

- In our package, we also guarantee an additional PLN 1000 per month for every disabled child in Polish families. Our bill also clearly guarantees a PLN 500 benefit for the rehabilitation of disabled adults - the PSL MP continued.

- We are saying that by the year 2020, we must guarantee 6% of GDP for healthcare - stated the politician.

Dulkiewicz Elected Mayor of Gdańsk:

I Ask for Constructive Criticism, Support, and Help, But I Also Ask That We Continue to Be a Community – as We Have Been for the Last 7 Weeks.

I sincerely thank those working in the commissions. These are true citizens who, during the day, worked to conduct the elections, and during the night, counted the votes. I thank all members of the 196 district electoral commissions in Gdańsk. Thank you for your hard work. This is a true example of civic attitude,” said the President-elect of Gdańsk, Aleksandra Dulkiewicz.

Yesterday morning, when I woke up, I knew it was 7 weeks since the murder of President Paweł Adamowicz. Only yesterday did I fully realize that he would have to be replaced. I cannot do this without you. I ask for your support and help. I know that this election Sunday was another stage of coming to terms with the grief of loss for many of us.”

I ask for constructive criticism, support, and help, but I also ask that, just as we have been a community for the past 7 weeks, we continue to be so, that we be better towards each other, smile at each other more often, be able to let in a driver waiting to merge, or be able to zipper merge. I know we can do it. It all depends on our daily choices, on our personal decisions,” she added.

President Duda in Żagań: "I wanted NATO to be present in Poland, and today it is a fact"

- I am very pleased that the opening of these anniversary celebrations is taking place right here in Żagań, where soldiers of the Polish Army and the US Army serve and carry out their tasks together. This is something we have strived for for many years. This is something that was once the dream of President Lech Kaczyński. Polish soldiers and the US Army on Polish soil, serving shoulder to shoulder - stated President Andrzej Duda in Żagań.

- I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. Our Polish soldiers and your comrades-in-arms, the US soldiers, for this service. For service to your homelands, but also for global security. Once again, I express my great satisfaction that I am starting this visit with you here - PAD continued.

- I want to express great satisfaction, because I remember my first conversation with the Secretary General of NATO, back in June 2015, when I was President-elect. I said that I would like the presence of NATO, units from various countries, in the territory of Poland to become a fact. He looked at me then with astonishment, and I said: yes, yes, Poland has been in NATO for almost 20 years, then, but I would like one more thing. For NATO to also be present in Poland. Today, this is a fact - emphasized the President.

President Andrzej Duda began NATO Week, the celebrations of the 20th anniversary of Poland's accession to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, with a meeting with soldiers of the 11th Armoured Cavalry Division and the American Armoured Brigade Combat Team, which is training at the Żagań training ground.

The President received a report from the Commander of the 11th ACCD, Major General Stanisław Czosnek, and laid a wreath at the monument of Major General Stanisław Maczek. A static-dynamic demonstration of troops and discussions with soldiers, followed by a joint lunch, are planned at the training ground.

Will the Politicization of Gdańsk's Local Government Be Halted? Płażyński Asks Dulkiewicz 5 Questions

At today's press conference, Kacper Płażyński directed 5 questions to Mayor Aleksandra Dulkiewicz.

  • Will the new authorities of Gdańsk break with the pathology where family members of high-ranking officials benefit from holding positions in companies subordinate to the City of Gdańsk, or from conducting business with the city and its dependent companies?

  • Will the new authorities of Gdańsk break with the principle that allows individuals facing criminal charges for serious offenses to sit on the boards of companies with a dominant share of the City of Gdańsk?

  • Will the Mayor of Gdańsk resign from sitting on supervisory boards subordinate to the city? Will you prohibit officials at the rank of Deputy Mayor from sitting on these boards?

  • Will Gdańsk finally break with the non-transparent, completely outdated way of conducting relations with businesses, especially developers? Will residents finally have access to all information regarding these interests?

  • Will the process of politicization of Gdańsk's local government be halted, manifesting itself, among other things, in the financing from public funds of initiatives with a clearly political, society-dividing character?

ZNP Proposes April 8th as Start Date for Nationwide Strike and Calls for Referendum. Broniarz: No End Date for Protest Indicated

The Polish Teachers' Union (ZNP) proposes that a nationwide strike commence on April 8, 2019, and continue until further notice. Now, teachers themselves will have to confirm the date and the decision to protest in a referendum.

The plebiscite in individual schools must conclude before March 25th. ZNP has also stated the question that teachers will have to answer:

Given that the demand for a 1000 PLN increase in basic salaries for teachers, educators, other pedagogical staff, and non-teaching staff, with backdating to January 1, 2019, has not been met, are you in favour of conducting a strike in the school, starting from April 8th of this year?

By this time, ZNP expects negotiations with the government. Should these negotiations fail, the administration of exams concluding primary and middle school would be jeopardized. According to the schedule of the Central Examination Commission, eighth-graders are set to take their test on April 15th, 16th, and 17th, while middle school graduates will take theirs on April 10th, 11th, and 12th.

"Looking at the polls, at the feedback from my colleagues - teachers and non-teaching staff - we are talking today about the start date of the strike. No one is indicating an end date for it," said the head of ZNP, Sławomir Broniarz. "*However it may sound and however those who want to label us, to give us a Gombrowicz-esque persona, might exploit it, it is indeed in the interest of the child, the student, because they, along with the teacher, are the salt of education.*"

The teachers' demands remain unchanged. They are demanding a gross salary increase of 1000 PLN from the government, with backdating to January 1, 2019. The salary increase would also apply to non-teaching staff. "*We are obligated to notify the head of the workplace five days before the commencement of the strike. We are saying this today, over a month before this event. In our opinion, this is a sufficiently long period for principals to prepare for it,*" Broniarz added.

Terlecki:

Teachers Will Receive a Raise in September, a General Solution for the Public Sector is Also Ahead

- Teachers certainly also benefit from other programs we are proposing. Those who have children will certainly gain from this, while teachers are getting a raise, they will get it in September. I think a general solution for the public sector is also ahead of us. So all of this, I believe, will calm the tension that has arisen here. I hope that teachers will not undertake any actions that would harm the students entrusted to them - stated Ryszard Terlecki at a press conference.

President Duda: The Most Beautiful Moment Will Be Hearing From An Average Family, 'Yes, Our Lives Are Better Than When You Started.' Let The Bigwigs On TV Say What They Want.

- For me, the most beautiful moment to end my presidency will be when I hear from an ordinary, average Polish family: 'Yes, our lives are better than when you started.' That is enough for me, and beyond that, let the various important and great people on television say whatever they want about me. It is enough for me if I can hear that from an ordinary Pole – said President Andrzej Duda during a meeting with residents of Bolesławiec County.

19:49

Mucha on Szczerski's words regarding teachers: Such statements or verbal slips happen to all of us
The President himself spoke on this matter, directly stating that the statement was unfortunate. However, such statements or verbal slips happen to all of us. We don't fully realize the context of this statement, and I think everyone who listened to the radio broadcast understood that the conversation had a broader nature – said Paweł Mucha in an interview with Dorota Gawryluk on the program "Wydarzenia i Opinie" (Events and Opinions) on Polsat News.

19:57

Mucha:

The question for ZNP today is: Will the election campaign context serve to politicize the talks?

- This is also a question for ZNP today. Will this context, related to the ongoing election campaign period, because we are in an election campaign for the European Parliament, serve to politicize these talks? Secondly, are the demands presented in a zero-one fashion, with a lack of agreement, even feasible to meet? And finally, in my opinion, the most important question that needs to be answered. Is this kind of intention, for the protest to encompass the date of the exams, appropriate - said Paweł Mucha in an interview with Dorota Gawryluk on the program "Wydarzenia i Opinie" (Events and Opinions) on Polsat News.

Dulkiewicz Asked What She Would Tell Adamowicz: "Boss, You Set the Bar High. I Will Try to Reach It"

"The President of the City of Gdańsk - today a woman, the first in history, but the title is: President of the City of Gdańsk. I don't attach such great importance to titles. The fact that I am a woman probably cannot be missed" - said Aleksandra Dulkiewicz, the President-elect of Gdańsk, in an interview with Monika Olejnik on "Kropka nad i" on TVN24.

Asked what she would say today to the late President Adamowicz, she replied: "Boss, you set the bar high. I will try to reach it."

Dulkiewicz:

Tusk is keenly interested in the June 4th commemorations. He wants to actively participate. We are in constant contact.
"The legacy of Mr. President is primarily the continuation of his thoughts; June 4th and the great celebration of freedom and solidarity will certainly be such a legacy, where it will necessarily be a celebration dedicated to Paweł Adamowicz and the questions he also posed about local government, about Gdańsk, about Poland, about our condition as a society" - said Aleksandra Dulkiewicz, the president-elect of Gdańsk, in an interview with Monika Olejnik on "Kropka nad i" on TVN24. "Certainly, Donald Tusk is keenly interested in the 30th anniversary commemorations of June 4th, I know he wants to actively participate in these commemorations. We are in constant contact, discussing how to prepare these commemorations together so that they are truly a celebration of citizens" - she added.

Dulkiewicz:

Both those who toppled the monument and those who erected it in violation of regulations should face consequences. Today, there is no place in Gdańsk's public space for Father Jankowski's monument.

Striving for the truth [regarding Father Jankowski] would certainly be extremely advisable, but that requires multiple parties. As for the monument itself – we will uphold the law. Both those who toppled the monument and those who erected it in violation of regulations should face consequences. My personal opinion is that today there is no place in Gdańsk's public space for Father Jankowski's monument. I would prefer this decision to be made through dialogue, through a reasonable, wise dialogue, which is why in the coming days I will speak with the head of the Gdańsk region of NSZZ "Solidarność" about how this monument can be moved to another location in a civilized, cultured manner” - said Gdańsk President-elect Aleksandra Dulkiewicz in an interview with Monika Olejnik on "Kropka nad i" on TVN24.
