Thursday marks the second day of the Middle East conference. The main deliberations of the delegations are scheduled to take place at the National Stadium. 

At 9:00 AM, the plenary session will open, during which Minister Jacek Czaputowicz and Secretary Mike Pompeo will deliver speeches. At 9:30 AM, the inaugural session will be held, followed by a working lunch at 12:00 PM. Parallel sessions will run from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM. A press conference with Minister Czaputowicz and Secretary Pompeo is scheduled for 4:35 PM.

Also today, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki will meet with the Vice President of the United States, Mike Pence, who has been visiting Warsaw since yesterday. The schedule includes laying wreaths before the monuments of the Ghetto Heroes and the Warsaw Uprising - at 2:00 PM and 4:15 PM, a meeting at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister - at 4:50 PM, and a delegation meeting - at 5:10 PM. Meanwhile, at 10:45 AM, the head of the Polish government will meet with the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu.

Robert Biedroń, as part of his tour across the country, will visit the historical capital of Poland - Krakow. A press conference is scheduled for 1:00 PM, and the regional convention of Wiosna (Spring party) at 6:00 PM. On the other hand, at 9:00 AM, the Senate will resume its deliberations - this is the second day of the session.

- I cannot confirm this yet, but many signs indicate that I will run for the European Parliament from the Mazovian constituency - said Adam Bielan in an interview with Daniel Wydrych and Piotr Goćk in "Sygnały dnia" on Polish Radio Jedynka.

- I think we will be able to announce the list leaders within a few, or a dozen or so days - Bielan added.

I believe there will be an official announcement on this matter soon. The programmatic convention will not be solely about the European elections. The campaign for the European Parliament will begin with the announcement of the election date by President Andrzej Duda, and I think that will happen after February 23rd. At this convention, we will discuss our general programmatic proposals for the next term, including in the parliamentary elections - said Adam Bielan in an interview with Daniel Wydrych and Piotr Goćko on "Sygnały dnia" on Polish Radio's Jedynka.

– I wrote to him [Jarosław Kaczyński] not only as party chairman, but as the head of the council of the Lech Kaczyński Institute foundation. Apparently ineffectively, if I recall correctly [I corresponded with the PiS chairman] – stated Ryszard Petru in a conversation with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego." He added:

"I wanted to draw attention to the fact that it must be stressed that he is the head of the council of the Lech Kaczyński Institute foundation, which commissioned all activities to the Srebrna company, and there is a series of questions. 'Wyborcza' keeps publishing new information, data, and documents, and it would be good if Jarosław Kaczyński, i.e., the head of the foundation's council, also showed what they have, to demonstrate transparency."

I want to draw attention to the fact that the Lech Kaczyński Institute is not an institute at all, but a massive business venture that was intended to lead to the construction of large towers which would finance the PiS party or parties similar to PiS for years. At the same time, budget subsidies could be taken away from other political parties, and then PiS would have dominance – stated Ryszard Petru in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

– It seems to me that the situation is completely different. Namely, there is a desire for a grand agreement for a European coalition. There's a widespread belief that if we all go together, PiS can be knocked out. From belief, we need to move to implementation – stated Ryszard Petru in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

- We have a problem with the Polish People's Party (PSL). The PSL is a party that has almost the same electorate as Law and Justice (PiS). Consequently, for them, joining the European Coalition is risky because they might abandon their banner. Meaning, they might win MEP seats, but simultaneously lose their identity and never be able to re-establish themselves as a political group - stated Ryszard Petru in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego". - The second problem is that, of course, the PSL in coalition with Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz is always a risk for Grzegorz Schetyna, as he is a potential contender for Prime Minister, and this also causes some internal tensions - he continued.

"It's a matter of the interests of individual groups. The PSL did not go into the local elections as a coalition and won on that. Whoever enters the European Coalition now, or this broad one, then has much smaller negotiation opportunities when it comes to the next step, i.e., the Polish parliamentary elections. I believe it would be good for Poland if such a broad coalition were formed. There is a chance to knock out PiS in these elections. Robert Biedroń should also join, but I understand he won't, because he wants to count his strength and has the right to do so

- There is a chance for it to be formed, but it doesn't just depend on intuition, because intuition here, it seems to me, is of little importance. It depends on whether it is profitable for the PSL to join the coalition or to skip these elections and only join the coalition for the autumn elections - he added. - It would be good if a grand European Coalition were formed. Then everyone should be included. We will see [whether Ryszard Petru will also be included], however, the key issue, when it comes to ASAP, is the elections to the Polish parliament - he argued.

- I haven't decided yet. I'm considering it. The fight tempts me more than Brussels - stated Ryszard Petru in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on "Piasecki's Conversation" on TVN24, when asked if we would see him on the European Parliament lists.

- It's more than prestige. It's the role the Polish state now plays on the international stage, a role it hasn't played before. Previously, we were the subject of foreign policy; today, we are becoming the agent. This is a process - said Mariusz Błaszczak in a conversation with Beata Michniewicz on Polskie Radio Program 3's "Political Salon."

“There are probably no doubts that the will for a broad coalition exists. However, for this will to be realized, it must be the will of all collaborators, of all entities that would form this coalition” - stated the leader of Nowoczesna, Katarzyna Lubnauer, in an interview with Karolina Lewicka on Poranek Radia TOK FM.

“The coalition should be created for the European Parliament elections as well as for the national parliament. This year’s EP elections are important because there is a threat of a very difficult European Parliament, with one-third of MEPs being eurosceptic” - she added. 

„What is the value of polls? The Prime Minister will be whoever wins the autumn elections, and we generally don't focus on someone being good-looking, jumping around, and waving flowers at everyone, being liked, but rather on us winning the elections. The high level of support for Tusk when he was Prime Minister pleased us. When he wasn't yet and lost the elections in 2005, he didn't have high ratings yet” - said Sławomir Neumann, the head of the Civic Platform – Civic Coalition parliamentary club, in an interview with Karolina Lewicka on TOK FM Radio's Morning Show.

„Only Grzegorz Schetyna, as the leader of Civic Platform, the largest opposition party, can build a bloc that will win, that will give Poles a chance to reject the bad governance of today. No one else can do this, not even the most smiling individual who might appear” – said the head of the Civic Platform-Koalicja Obywatelska (Civic Platform-Civic Coalition) parliamentary club, Sławomir Neumann, in an interview with Karolina Lewicka on TOK FM Radio's Morning Program.

"Politics isn't as simple as some might think, that you just need to find a model who looks good and is liked by everyone. Puppies are also nice, everyone likes them. They bark loudly, but they won't defend the house. That's the truth," said Sławomir Neumann, the head of the Civic Platform-KO parliamentary club, in an interview with Karolina Lewicka on Radio TOK FM's Morning Show.

- I heard that this gentleman [Gerald Birgfellner] remembered nothing during his testimony. He didn't even remember if anything was recorded, what was recorded. That's truly shocking, such memory loss. That gentleman's lawyer, or rather two lawyers. Here specifically Roman Giertych, probably was shocked because he harbors such a desire, I don't know why, to somehow bother PiS, the Chairman - stated Marek Suski in an interview with Dorota Łosiewicz on TVP1's "Political Quarter."

- But for what reason? Of course, one can draw various conclusions. Perhaps half of Poland should be questioned. There is no basis to question Srebrna's chairman or board. From these tapes, it appears that if there were any abuses, it was an attempt to extract money by this gentleman who today has forgotten what he was after. Well then, Giertych can be shocked because he has lost the opportunity to baselessly accuse various people - added the PiS politician.

- The European Union and the United States share the conviction about the role Iran could and should play in the Middle East and in the world. However, we are very concerned about the possible consequences of the development of Iran's nuclear program, as well as reports about the unconstructive role played by this state in the region. The United States and Poland understand that each country participating in this meeting sometimes has a different perspective on issues, and sometimes these perspectives can conflict with each other. - Regarding the issue of property restitution for US citizens, it is regulated by the Polish-American treaty of 1960, and this matter is closed. The US government, in the 1960 treaty, assumed all claims in this regard - stated Adam Bielan in an interview with Jacek Prusinowski on Radio Plus.

- The fundamental difference between us and our opponents from Civic Platform is this: after such facts are revealed, we remove these people. The State Election Commission (PKW) - in connection with the upcoming announcement of elections to the European Parliament, and subsequently to the Sejm RP and the Senate RP - has addressed the National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT) with a request to take actions ensuring equal treatment of election participants in the media, especially in public media. “The goal is to increase aid for refugees by providing shelter, access to medical care, education, and the labor market. While providing care in neighboring countries, let us not lose sight of the country of origin, where the long-term solution lies. We must aim to ensure that these people do not have to flee their homes. This is the most important thing,” Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said during the Middle East conference [translation by TVN24].

“Poland is committed to playing its significant role in addressing refugee challenges, humanitarian issues, and, above all, the challenges to peace in the Middle East. Peace is a goal of a political nature,” he added.

- None of these threats are more dangerous and pressing than radical Islamic terrorism and the autocratic regimes that export it to the entire region and the wider world. Radical Islamic terrorism knows no borders. It targets the USA, Israel, countries in the Middle East, and around the globe. It spares no faith, taking the lives of Jews, Christians, and Muslims. Radical terrorism understands no realities other than brute force - said U.S. Vice President Mike Pence in Warsaw at a Middle East conference.

- The Polish nation knows well, after the occupation during World War II, that antisemitism is an evil that exists. History teaches us that antisemitism is an evil, and antisemitism must be opposed and condemned wherever and whenever it appears. „I hope that the Middle East conference will be a place for open debate and the exchange of arguments, that it will allow for governments to talk even if we disagree on certain issues, and that it will be a place for open debate and the exchange of arguments. This coming Tuesday at 3:00 PM, the parliamentary Committee on Culture and Media will consider the bill amending the Act on Subscription Fees, introduced by PiS, which establishes compensation for public media. According to the schedule released yesterday, the second reading of the bill will take place on Thursday, February 21st, at 4:45 PM. While this is a contentious point, much indicates that the Sejm will adopt the proposal on the same day, in a block between 9:00 PM and midnight.

During Tuesday's meeting, there are many such meetings, as a significant portion of government members meet with President Kaczyński numerous times. This was not my first and only meeting with President Kaczyński. We did not discuss Srebrna. We spoke, among other things, about the anti-usury law. Also about other laws, including the law on the liability of collective entities, which is in the Sejm, because there are differing opinions within our political environment regarding the implementation of these laws" – said Minister Zbigniew Ziobro at a press conference.

“The leader of the entire political camp, when it comes to the direction of changes, is President Jarosław Kaczyński. A decision has been made that we can launch this [anti-usury] law, which has been lying dormant for some time, awaiting today's press conference. „At this stage, we shouldn't focus at all on personal matters, on visions of what will happen in the autumn, who will be the candidate for prime minister. „In the case of a pre-election coalition for the Sejm and Senate, there are more problems of a worldview, ideological nature. I think we should act with common sense. We are a country with certain social [values/realities]. Simply put, let's not wage an ideological or worldview war now, because this is not the best time” - he added.

This is most likely to include, among others, the act concerning compensation for public media, which the Sejm is expected to adopt next week.

“Poles collaborated with the Nazi regime in murdering Jews during the Holocaust” - these words - as reported by The Jerusalem Post - were allegedly spoken in Warsaw by the Prime Minister of Israel.

Benjamin Netanyahu has been in Warsaw since yesterday, participating in a conference concerning the situation in the Middle East. The Prime Minister of Israel is said to have uttered the cited words during a conversation with journalists at the Museum of the History of Polish Jews.

"The most important benefit would be intangible, if we manage to contribute to ensuring peace, thus fulfilling our role as a member of the [UN] Security Council, because this is about solidarity. If we want others to be solidary with us when it comes to defending Poland's borders, then we must demonstrate solidarity with others. This [Middle East conference] is an example of such action" - said Minister Jacek Czaputowicz on "Gość Wiadomości" on TVP Info. 

During the upcoming Sejm session, the Law and Justice (PiS) party intends to propose a resolution concerning responsibility for the Holocaust. This initiative stems from unacceptable statements made during a recent Middle East conference.

Jarosław Gowin has reacted strongly to statements concerning the alleged collaboration of the Polish nation with German perpetrators of the Holocaust. He emphasized that such claims are false and that the Polish government will not tolerate them, irrespective of their source.

His statement, shared via Twitter, reads:

"Statements about the Polish nation collaborating with German perpetrators of the Holocaust are a lie. The Polish government will not accept them, regardless of who utters this falsehood."

As 300POLITYKA has learned, an initiative with the working title "10 Hours with Prime Minister Morawiecki" is launching on Monday. The start is planned for the morning from the very location where the so-called Morawiecki's Five was announced last year. Subsequently, the head of the Polish government will travel across Poland to showcase the functioning of the aforementioned Five, using 5 examples in 5 locations.

Our sources emphasize that the aim is to demonstrate how Morawiecki's Five operates ahead of the PiS convention on Saturday. Organizers assure that the entire event will be conducted in a campaign style – even though the official campaign has not yet begun – and Mateusz Morawiecki will travel across Poland by bus. Ministers are also expected to be present during the tour to showcase the team.
