A summit on the situation in the Middle East begins today in Warsaw. The welcoming of delegation heads at the Royal Castle is scheduled for 18:00. At 19:30, representatives of the states will participate in a welcome dinner.

At 13:30, a meeting is planned at the Air Transport Base between President Andrzej Duda and his spouse, and US Vice President Michael Pence and his spouse, with Polish and American soldiers. At 14:55, there will be a welcome ceremony in the courtyard of the Belvedere Palace. At 15:00, a meeting of the Presidential Couples will take place, and at 15:05 - a one-on-one conversation between the President of Poland and the Vice President of the USA. At 15:20, delegation talks under the presidents' leadership are scheduled, followed by a media statement at 16:15.

At 11:00, the three-day session of the Senate will commence. The agenda includes, among other items, amendments to the Gambling Act and the Act on Foreigners, as well as information on the activities of the Supreme Court in 2017 and information on significant issues arising from the activities and jurisprudence of the Constitutional Tribunal in 2017. This is the last scheduled session for this month – the next one will only take place from March 20-22. Marshal Karczewski's briefing before the start of the session is at 10:00.

The Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus continues his visit to Warsaw. At 9:15, Mikhail Myasnikovich will meet with Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, at 10:30 with President Andrzej Duda, at 11:45 with Marshal Stanisław Karczewski, and at 15:00 with Marshal Marek Kuchciński.

Robert Biedroń will visit Katowice as part of his country tour. A press conference is scheduled for 13:15, and the regional convention of Wiosna (Spring) at 18:30.

In my attitude towards President Glapiński, there is absolutely nothing personal. I believe certain standards should apply, standards of transparency, and it is only in this sense, in a very restrained manner, because of tweets, one of which consisted of a single word, that I am participating in this discussion – stated Jarosław Gowin in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

Referring to Jarosław Kaczyński's words, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized: [Adam Glapiński's statements] don't please me either.

- I have never discussed this [regarding Adam Glapiński's potential resignation] with any politician from the ruling camp. It would be irresponsible for a Deputy Prime Minister to suggest the resignation of someone with constitutional protection against dismissal. It is a one-sided conference, and Poland, which has pursued a balanced policy regarding the Middle East for many years, is becoming a party. We are standing alongside the United States, Israel, and other states, without a Palestinian delegation. We are building tension on this line” - said the Vice-Chairman of Civic Platform (PO), Tomasz Siemoniak, in an interview with Piotr Kraśko on TOK FM Radio's "Poranek". 

- A power of attorney is not a contract, firstly. Secondly, we are dealing here with a normal dispute between two companies. A company represented by this gentleman from Austria and the Srebrna company, and the dispute should be resolved in a commercial court. If the intentions of the representatives of this Austrian's attorneys were pure, there would be no political undertones here; this matter would currently be handled by a commercial court, as Jarosław Kaczyński himself proposed last year in the leaked recording. Well, I can only shrug my shoulders. "Gazeta Wyborcza" has been occupied with this matter [Jarosław Kaczyński's tapes] for two weeks. So it was a very, very difficult period, and it was a time when my task, practically – at least that's how I imagined it – was to maintain communication between the Polish government and the Ukrainian government. So that there would be no collapse, so that there wouldn't be something like having a problem because we simply stop talking to each other."

“The leader of PO is Grzegorz Schetyna, and it is honest and natural that if a political grouping strives to gain power, it states that it is natural for the party leader to be the candidate for prime minister. It cannot be that President Kaczyński is not the prime minister, yet in reality, all power rests in his hands and he decides everything. A better, more honest presentation of the matter: our candidate, if we win the election – Grzegorz Schetyna, depending on the coalition, will be the candidate for prime minister”  - said the Deputy Marshal of the Sejm, Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska from PO, in an interview with Jacek Prusinowski on Radio Plus.

"It was bad that he took this position [President of NFOŚiGW]. It was good that he no longer holds this position. He concealed it, he was in the immediate circle of the president. Since the president himself didn't know, I find it hard to believe. The matter is extremely unpleasant for PiS. The state is not functioning. We see that it is constantly within the interests of Law and Justice" - said the Deputy Marshal of the Sejm, Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska from PO, in an interview with Jacek Prusinowski on Radio Plus, referring to Kazimierz Kujda.

Jarosław Kaczyński can feel comfortable because nothing threatens him, everything is subordinate to him. I am convinced that the PiS leader Jarosław Kaczyński will never hold a press conference for all journalists - stated Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz in a conversation with Marek Kacprzak on WP's "Tłit" program. He added:

"At the peak of the Srebrna affair, Jarosław Kaczyński went to his own people, where he heard gentle questions and could say what he wanted. The wave of criticism he faced for avoiding confrontation caused him to take a further step and go to PAP, where the questions were already a bit more complicated."

The recruitment process for the position of President of the Management Board of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOŚiGW) has begun. On Wednesday, February 20th, at 3:15 PM, the Sejm will address Civic Platform-Civic Coalition's (PO-KO) motion to dismiss Zbigniew Ziobro from the position of Minister of Justice, according to the preliminary schedule. The debate is planned to last until 5:00 PM, followed by a vote on the motion. Lawmakers were initially scheduled to consider the opposition's motion on Wednesday morning.

A day later, on Thursday, February 21st, at 4:45 PM, the second reading of the bill submitted by Law and Justice (PiS) regarding compensation for public media will take place. While this is a contentious point, much suggests that the Sejm will adopt the proposal on the same day, in a block voting session between 9:00 PM and midnight.

Furthermore, lawmakers will vote on an amendment to the law concerning salaries at the National Bank of Poland (NBP). The session will continue until Friday, but there will be no voting block on that day.
