Today, President Andrzej Duda will announce his decision regarding the declaration of national mourning following the death of Prime Minister Jan Olszewski. "When declaring national mourning, the President cooperates with the Prime Minister, with their countersignature. Final arrangements regarding the scope of the mourning are underway. We will inform you promptly once they are made. The President has responded to the public's widespread expectation," Minister Paweł Mucha announced yesterday on Polskie Radio 24. At 15:30, PAD will present state decorations to employees of the Military Institute of Medicine in Warsaw.

Robert Biedroń – as part of his tour across the country – will visit Wrocław. The regional convention of the Spring party is scheduled for 18:00. Additionally, a government meeting will take place today at 10:00.

– I am very pleasantly surprised, even [by yesterday's prosecutor's hearing]. We have a wonderful prosecutor, extremely inquisitive. We probably left the prosecutor's office around 8 PM. Many questions, delving into details. We didn't manage to finish because so many new threads opened up that we will continue this interrogation – stated Jacek Dubois in a conversation with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego." As he emphasized, he has great respect for the rank-and-file employees of the judiciary, especially judges and prosecutors, but he does not trust the people who lead them.

– I can say that the prosecutor is very diligently gathering evidence. She gained our client's trust so much that she learned much more than we did. Completely new circumstances are emerging in the case. Which confirm that a crime has been committed and point to the individuals guilty of committing it – he added, noting that a huge amount of evidence has been submitted.

- A simple thing. Mr. Kaczyński surely didn't expect anyone would dare. Because the vilification, the attack, starts immediately. Please look at how many accusations Mr. Kaczyński's circle has made. No one sympathizes with the victim, no one says that a person was deprived of a huge sum of money, was exploited for a year and worked for free, but right now there's an attempt to discredit them - stated Jacek Dubois in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

- We are talking about the amount of 1 million 300 thousand euros [we are demanding from the Srebrna company] - stated Jacek Dubois in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

When asked why they didn't go to court, he replied: - It's quite simple. My client was a victim of manipulation. The person who commissioned him pretended to be someone he was not. Yes, yes, I'm talking about President Kaczyński. [He pretended] to be a person authorized to make all decisions on behalf of Srebrna and guaranteed that all obligations would be paid.

The Chairman [Jarosław Kaczyński] is misleading the [public] opinion because he participated in many meetings with lawyers where this agreement was negotiated and prepared. It was changed multiple times. Every subsequent draft is with the prosecutor's office. My client's remuneration was included in the business plan, so this is simply manipulation or a falsehood - stated Jacek Dubois in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego". As he emphasized, "the Chairman constantly monitored the progress of the work".

When asked why his client did not enter into a written agreement with Srebrna or Chairman Kaczyński, he replied: - He did. Of course, he did. Only he entered into it with a special purpose vehicle indicated by the Chairman. Yes, of course [he has this agreement in writing]. This agreement covers the entire process, which corresponded to 3% of the investment value. However, because the investment was interrupted at a certain stage, as the investment was supposed to last 5 years, it was interrupted after a year and a few months, and as per the detailed tariff for individual works, this amount emerges. Dubois confirmed that it concerns an agreement between Birgfellner and authorized persons, but he does not remember the names at the moment. The agreement is to be with the prosecutor's office. As he stated, Chairman Kaczyński was aware of it.

- I don't know, I don't know the exact hours. I know that within such a timeframe, approximately, there will be national mourning. I know that there will be national mourning - stated Stanisław Karczewski in an interview with Robert Mazurek on RMF FM.

As you know, I was supposed to be a candidate for the mayor of Warsaw. If I had become the mayor of Warsaw, I would have definitely approved it and would have stood with those who wanted to build such a monument. I certainly would not have been against it, as the Civic Platform (Platforma) was against building the Lech Kaczyński monument. I certainly would have shown great goodwill in this regard – stated Stanisław Karczewski in an interview with Robert Mazurek on RMF FM.

This is a consequence of what happened in 1992. If we had carried out lustration, we would have had a lot behind us. I am a proponent of lustration. „It seems that national mourning for such an eminent person, longer than one day, is fully justified, especially since the funeral ceremonies will begin on Friday” - said Bartosz Kownacki in an interview with Beata Lubecka on Radio Zet.

„[Prime Minister Olszewski] will be buried in Powązki. I wouldn't want to prejudge the exact location. It must be a dignified place that will be historically significant” - he added.

"If I were to rule on this matter [reported by Birgfellner], I would refuse to initiate proceedings. I would certainly conduct verification activities, as a notification has been filed and the person filing the notification has been heard. Based on the evidence we know, I see no grounds for an inquiry or investigation," said Bartosz Kownacki from PiS in an interview with Beata Lubecka on Radio Zet. 

I don't know what the situation is. I am convinced, and deeply convinced, that it will be resolved quickly. Perhaps [Kazimierz Kujda] has already [resigned], perhaps he has submitted a letter. At the same time, he noted that he does not know if Kujda has resigned.

- Today, the Supervisory Board is to make a decision in this matter [concerning Kazimierz Kujda]. This was stated by the Minister of the Environment in one of the programs. So I can only repeat what I heard, as I have no greater knowledge about whether he will be dismissed, nor do I have the authority to dismiss him - stated Beata Mazurek in an interview with journalists. She added:

"I don't know [if he offered his resignation to the PiS chairman]. If he had offered his resignation, not to the PiS chairman, but truly to his professional superior, it would not be a surprise to anyone. The question is whether he should do it. He is a problem for our environment, so it seems to me that yes. That he should resign [from the position of NFOŚiGW president] and in my opinion, this resignation should be accepted."

- In this situation, when he has submitted his resignation, I cannot imagine the board not accepting this resignation. He offered himself to be at disposal, so I understand that he submitted his resignation. Because how else should this be understood? The fact that we are co-organizing a conference on peace in the Middle East is undoubtedly Poland's achievement. Last week, we learned that the Central Anticorruption Bureau (CBA), under the leadership of Ernest Bejda, has no intention of initiating proceedings regarding Jarosław Kaczyński's financial declarations. We consider this an exceptional scandal. We know that Bejda worked at Srebrna. The head of the Internal Security Agency (ABW) also worked for the company, but today it must be clearly stated that the Polish state must function despite the fact that the heads of the CBA and ABW were involved with the Srebrna company, said Cezary Tomczyk from Civic Platform (PO) at a press conference in the Sejm.

Anyone can see for themselves what the chairman Kaczyński's declaration looks like and what the recordings reveal. Since the whole of Poland can listen to and read the transcripts of these recordings, does the CBA not notice this? We consider the CBA's matter closed. We are submitting a motion to the prosecutor's office in connection with the failure to fulfill duties by the head of the CBA regarding the lack of verification of Jarosław Kaczyński's financial declarations, he added.

A great Pole, a great patriot, former Prime Minister Jan Olszewski, has passed away in recent days. Therefore, the funeral ceremonies will have a state character. The Prime Minister's Chancellery will organize the funeral, as Jan Olszewski was also the Chairman of the Council of Ministers, among his many social and political activities. The ceremonies will be two-day and will take place this Friday and Saturday. The burial place of Prime Minister Olszewski will be Powązki Military Cemetery - stated Michał Dworczyk at a briefing at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister. A decision has been made between Prime Minister Morawiecki and President Duda that the mourning will take place on Friday and Saturday. I would like to express my concern about the decision of the court in Wrocław, which decided to release a perpetrator who very recently committed a very serious crime, an unlawful act, namely setting fire to the parliamentary office of Minister Beata Kempa, knowing that many families, exactly 16 people, including 6 children, reside in this building. Despite this, he wanted to cause a large fire, and in doing so, had to accept that innocent, accidental people could die and burn. He did this – as he claimed – for political reasons, out of political hatred for the current ruling political option, including Minister Kempa" – said the Minister of Justice, Zbigniew Ziobro, at a press conference. If there is a high probability that he will commit this type of crime again, then releasing such a perpetrator is something that must cause concern, especially if we recall the events in Gdańsk and consider that this person could soon be at liberty" – he added.

"There is such a concept as 'quibbling'. The essence of the European Commission is to seek compromise, and Mr. Timmermans, in conversations with me, declared the Commission's willingness to withdraw from the dispute if an agreement were reached and the claims made by the Commission were taken into account. We did not share the merit of these expectations, but in the name of higher reasons, we made a political decision to incorporate those elements that the Commission brought into the complaint. Despite this, despite previous declarations, Mr. Timmermans wants to drag this dispute out. He is clearly showing his true intentions, because this is not about a dispute over the judiciary, it's about politics and about dragging out this decision [until] the EP elections, to play Poland politically, to give the opposition the opportunity to win this case against Poland's image, in a situation where the matter is closed and resolved" - said the Minister of Justice, Zbigniew Ziobro, at a press conference.

"This quibbling stance of the European Commission, based on seeking a pretext to wage a dispute at all costs, will not bring positive points for the opposition, which Mr. Timmermans relies on so heavily" - he added.

- The supervisory board of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management has just concluded its meeting. It was convened at my request because President Kazimierz Kujda submitted his resignation from the post of president to me. Next Thursday, the Foreign Affairs Committee will provide an opinion on the nomination of Bartosz Cichocki for the position of Ambassador of the Republic of Poland.
