During a night voting session, MPs passed draft legislation concerning salaries at the National Bank of Poland (NBP), the "Mama 4 Plus" program, and amendments to the Electoral Code. The Senate will address these proposals at its Friday sitting. The Law and Justice (PiS) party, however, opted not to use the expedited procedure for the draft legislation regarding compensation for public media, which has been referred to the Culture Committee.

The next Sejm session – a continuation of the current one plus another – is scheduled for February 20-22. Furthermore, the Senate will not convene again until a month later, from March 20-22. If PiS does not decide on an additional Senate session after March 22, or another additional Sejm session before February 15, the issue of public media financing could be delayed until the end of March/early April.

- I am building a social movement that will transform into a political party on February 4th. I have already raised enough money to organize an event at Torwar and to tour Poland. „A difficult, very difficult situation. We are not talking about a higher subsidy, but about the one that has been granted to the ECS since its opening. Dear Mr. Prime Minister,

We are writing to you with an appeal for the urgent decision to restore the state budget's previous level of funding for the activities of the European Solidarity Centre in Gdańsk in 2019 and subsequent years, in the amount previously declared by Deputy Prime Minister Piotr Gliński (and his predecessors), i.e., PLN 7,146,000.

The European Solidarity Centre is a public institution and a modern cultural facility that preserves the memory of the historical Solidarity movement. It also serves as a museum commemorating the Polish bloodless revolution of 1980-1989 and the fall of communism in Europe. It is a significant educational center, a place for meetings and debates, and for practicing solidarity and civic attitudes.

The European Solidarity Centre is also a place that reminds Europe and the world that the transformations in Central and Eastern Europe and the fall of communism began in Poland and in Gdańsk. The open, friendly space of the ECS headquarters is visited annually by nearly a million people from Poland and abroad.

We believe that all who invoke the legacy of Solidarity and feel connected to its ethos should support the activities of the ECS. In this situation, drastic cuts to this institution's budget, which may lead to equally drastic reductions in planned activities for the current year, must be perceived by the community of Gdańsk and Pomerania (as well as guests from Poland and abroad) as an act of political revenge against a defiant city and a defiant institution. This is especially true in a year when we will celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the June 4, 1989 elections, the assessment of which in the narrative of your government and party significantly differs from that presented at the ECS.

However, the Polish national interest should supersede current political narratives. It is in its name that the ECS operates, and it is in its defense that we address this appeal to you, Mr. Prime Minister.

Another value that the spot's creators refer to is the right to a secular state. -We have the right to a secular state, a state that is ideologically neutral, a state where no church controls the government, where no clergyman dictates laws to ministers or dominates public ceremonies – said Katarzyna Lubnauer.

In January, Nowoczesna submitted a bill prohibiting the financing of religious education from the state budget. The party leader also announced the submission of a bill concerning the abolition of the conscience clause from public healthcare facilities and an audit of the financial empire of Tadeusz Rydzyk. - We will check every zloty that has been transferred from the state budget to Rydzyk's foundation's account. And we will ensure that all abuses are punished – Lubnauer emphasized.

- The state cannot interfere in your life choices. The state cannot tell you how to live – says Monika Rosa in the spot. A modern state is also a state for every citizen. Nowoczesna will fight for marital equality. - The bill on registered partnerships, submitted to the Sejm, is only the first step – Rosa explained.

The MP also announced further efforts to liberalize abortion laws, recalling the bill on conscious parenthood submitted by Nowoczesna to the Sejm. - We also cannot remain silent any longer about women's rights, about the right to decide for themselves. The "Black Protests" stopped PiS's barbaric proposal, but today we must take another step – argued Rosa.

- This is an illustration of what we, the urban movements, often talk about – we have a cardboard state. A cardboard state where unclear and pathological rules govern the issuance of building permits. A cardboard state where one can call a bank director and arrange a loan over the phone. All of this demonstrates the weakness of state institutions, their politicization, but the problem is that our elites like it, our elites benefit from it, and this example, this non-obvious example of the skyscraper on Srebrna, where it's actually unclear why some skyscrapers are built and others are not, shows that this is not just Jarosław Kaczyński's problem, but a problem of our entire political class – said Jan Śpiewak in an interview with Piotr Maślak on Gazeta.pl's "Poranek".

- You can also see here that the Warsaw City Hall and the Warsaw branch of Civic Platform are inconsistent, because in 2016, Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz, in the plan that was being developed for this area, which had been in the works for 15 years, which already shows the pathology, agreed to the construction of a 180-meter skyscraper for one of the most important parts. So, this is a change of decision by the Warsaw City Hall, and I would like to hear an explanation as to why the Warsaw City Hall, first through Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz, said that it was possible to build 180 or 190 meters there, and now Rafał Trzaskowski comes along and says 30 meters. This is complete arbitrariness, I absolutely do not understand it. A local spatial development plan should have been created there, which should have been consulted with the residents, and based on such a local plan, a building permit should have been issued. Zoning conditions are an absolute pathology that was allowed into Polish law in 2003, and it is an absolute scandal. If the Law and Justice party wanted to learn any lesson from this scandal, they should abolish these zoning conditions (W-Z) - said Jan Śpiewak in an interview with Piotr Maślak on "Poranek" Gazeta.pl.

We presented concrete figures that ultimately lead to a real increase in salaries. The goal of every meeting is to reach compromises, and I hope we managed to achieve a compromise today. "After the president signs the budget law, the second tranche of the announced increase will be granted, with equalization from January 1st this year. Another, accelerated salary increase will occur already from September 1st of this year, not, as we previously assumed, from January 2020. Funds are secured in the budget for these commitments. Thus, within 21 months, teachers will receive a higher basic salary from PLN 371 to PLN 508 depending on their professional promotion level. Counting the salary indexation, these amounts will be from PLN 400 to PLN 548. In summary, teachers' salaries will increase by a total of 16.1% compared to March 31, 2018."

– First and foremost, I suggest and encourage trade unions to meet us halfway. That halfway point is PLN 500 in September, compared to what it was in March 2018. The budget has already been signed, as we hear. Consequently, from January, compared to March of last year, it will be PLN 300 in the minimum wage – said Anna Zalewska in an interview with Piotr Witwicki on the program 'Wydarzenia i Opinie' (Events and Opinions) on Polsat News.

- We have the Law and Justice electorate for whom all these materials will not change their worldview. [Jarosław Kaczyński's perception, ed.] will not change for a simple reason.
