At 9:15 AM, Mateusz Morawiecki will participate in a conference concerning Employee Capital Plans (PPK). The government's first session of the year will commence at 10:00 AM. Among other matters, ministers will address amendments to laws regarding atomic law, social assistance, and telecommunications law.

Also at 10:00 AM, the Razem party will hold a press conference on the left's participation in the European Parliament elections. Furthermore, as announced, another round of talks regarding teacher salary increases will take place today at the "Dialog" Social Partnership Centre.

- We are certainly much further from any agreement, because the minister [Zalewska] talks about things that we have known for many months, i.e., she forecasts a salary increase and announces this salary increase from PLN 120 to PLN 160, while the position of teachers, I'm not talking about the union, is radically different from this proposal by the Ministry of Education. If on Thursday, and the minister suddenly, ad hoc, called this Thursday meeting, we do not reach an agreement, then in my opinion the main board will be obliged to pass a resolution on entering into a collective dispute, which must end in a strike - stated Sławomir Broniarz in an interview with Beata Lubecka on Radio Zet. He added that the organizer of the strike will decide whether it will be one day or several days, but no child who comes to school will be left without supervision.

"We are the only party in parliament that clearly stands for the separation of Church and state. If we look at this calmly and objectively, it is not a war with the Church, nor with other partners. I believe we will cooperate with Barbara Nowacka. We are of the opinion that religious education classes should be financed by the Church, and furthermore, we believe a church tax should be introduced, similar to the German model" - stated the leader of Nowoczesna, Katarzyna Lubnauer, in an interview with Jan Wróbel on Radio TOK FM's morning show.

- We apologize to parents for the confusion, for the turmoil, but it seems to us that a much worse situation is one where a teacher leaves school within a year because they are unable to support their family - stated Sławomir Broniarz in an interview with Beata Lubecka on Radio Zet.

- We have been inviting the Prime Minister for over a year. However, we are pointing out that all trade unions have expressed a kind of vote of no confidence in Minister Zalewska as a very untrustworthy person, and here is a whole mass of evidence of Minister Zalewska's lack of credibility - added the President of ZNP.

"The Civic Coalition in its current form has ceased to exist. We are building a new coalition for the European elections. I came into politics to build certain things, because I like to build. I don't particularly like destroying and criticizing" - said the leader of Nowoczesna, Katarzyna Lubnauer, in an interview with Jan Wróbel on Radio TOK FM's Morning program.

"We need to build a coalition, and among other things, that's what we are doing now with PSL and SLD. There is a will for us to go in a broad coalition, including with Civic Platform, in order to win and offer Poles proposals regarding the functioning of Poland" - she added.

It's not about changing the head, the person. It's about changing the policy, the quality of policy, the credibility of this minister. If we read in Minister Zalewska's letter to teachers from December last year that you will receive further raises by January, then today is January 8th, and there's no talk of raises yet - stated Sławomir Broniarz in an interview with Beata Lubecka on Radio Zet, when asked if changing the head of the Ministry of National Education would improve anything. - The minister is a golden-tongued person, declaring thousands of things - he added.

Yes, for every teacher [we want a salary increase of PLN 1,000 from the beginning of this year]. We also want to discuss the situation of education workers - stated Sławomir Broniarz in an interview with Beata Lubecka on Radio Zet. - There is always room for negotiation. The union has never shied away from talks, as evidenced by the events of 2008-2011. That was the PO government, Prime Minister Tusk, and at that time we achieved an increase of almost 60%, spread over 3 years. Now we are being offered 15% over three years as well, which is four times less - added the ZNP president. As he emphasized, today we cannot say we have anything to concede, because we have no one to concede to and there is no one on the other side interested in negotiations.

- We want to talk with the Minister [Anna Zalewska]. We are ready for these talks. The Minister has received our proposals. We are awaiting a response. Today there is a government meeting, which suggests that since the Minister is convening this meeting for Thursday so promptly and ad hoc, I understand that today the government will present some proposals to solve this problem - stated Sławomir Broniarz in an interview with Beata Lubecka on Radio Zet.

"I don't know if the president should get involved in this type of issue [earnings at the NBP]. I haven't spoken with the president in the past week, I don't know what his view is on this matter. [I] don't see a reason why information like the earnings of people in leadership positions shouldn't be public. I am against rampant transparency, because excessive transparency can kill democracy. In this case, I don't see a reason why [it shouldn't be disclosed]" - said Prof. Andrzej Zybertowicz in an interview with Robert Mazurek on RMF FM.

- As of yesterday at 3 PM, firefighters inspected approximately 430 such venues. And here is the shocking information… The most dire conclusion is the number showing that out of these, I believe, 433 escape rooms inspected, 52 have already been definitively closed by the State Fire Service as of today. A definitive closure order was issued because they posed the same potential threat as the one we dealt with in Koszalin. Meanwhile, in the remaining ones, there were over a thousand violations in various areas – stated Joachim Brudziński in an interview with Beata Michniewicz on "Trójka Political Salon". According to the head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration, approximately 1100 escape rooms have been located, but some operate only seasonally.

„The President has articulated this very clearly recently, that this work [on franc loan bills] should decidedly accelerate. Yesterday's meeting was held in order to discuss the work schedule. - We are open to talks with everyone to the left of Civic Platform, however, I will not answer your question today about what the final shape of this list will be. For a simple reason, many circles today are hesitant and agonizing, wondering what to do. I want to say very clearly: Razem will build the left. We are not interested in becoming vassals of the liberal camp. I hope that the group we manage to gather will be as broad as possible. - We are talking with SLD, with Robert Biedroń. With Biedroń, of course, there is a big question mark, because it is still unknown what his party will be. Robert has assumed that he will gather people around him and go where those people want to go. Today, I don't know if it will be the left or liberalism. If it is the left, then we should build a left-wing bloc together. If it is another liberal party, then Razem is obviously not interested in forming a liberal party - he added.

“It is difficult to comment on this [the matter of Deputy Minister Andruszkiewicz]. The Prime Minister bears full responsibility for appointing deputy ministers in the government, and it was the Prime Minister who decided that such a person, with such competencies, would be needed, is essential in this ministry. It is difficult to comment on the independent decision of the Prime Minister. If it were a constitutional minister, where the president’s action is significant, then we could indeed speculate whether such a person or another” - said the President’s spokesperson, Minister Błażej Spychalski, in an interview with Piotr Witwicki on “Polityczne Graffiti” on Polsat News.

- We are unprepared regarding worker security in a situation where unemployment were to rise again. This is something the Razem party has been talking about for a long time. What we need is to look at Scandinavian countries and the solutions that function there, such as unemployment insurance. We need to talk today about what to do so that people who have loans and high living costs do not find themselves in a large-scale situation where the state says: you have to support yourselves for a few months on a 500 PLN benefit - stated Adrian Zandberg in an interview with Jacek Prusinowski on Radio Plus.

Asked whether unemployment benefits should be proportional to how much these individuals earned, he replied: - Of course, up to a reasonable level. I think that the reasonable level worth discussing is the national average.

„Every day, we must do what we do best, meet with our compatriots, present a vision for a better, new Poland, not a return to what was in 2015, because that was rejected. This is much more important today than pointing to personnel decisions, which are uncertain, or may not even happen at all. “Grzegorz Schetyna has his strengths of various kinds. He saved the party at a difficult time. That cannot be overlooked. Katarzyna Lubnauer has her strengths, especially in the area of education. She is very good. She managed at a difficult time. There are many party leaders who have their strengths. I will not be pitted against them today” - said the leader of the Polish People's Party, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, in an interview with Łukasz Mężyk on the program “Tłit WP”. 

„Nobody seems eager to join Civic Platform. Modern was closer to Civic Platform, because it’s one family, one environment. I don’t think anyone from PSL members would switch to PO, because we are different political formations and we will certainly remain a different parliamentary club, if everything goes well in the next parliament” - said the leader of the Polish People's Party, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, in an interview with Łukasz Mężyk on the program “Tłit WP”.

„[Even if there's a joint list], there won't be a joint parliamentary club. It will be the PSL-UED club. This formula works and can be repeated in the next Sejm” - he added. 

"This is a crucial moment in the history of Polish healthcare, but most importantly, in what we can briefly call the Polish fight against cancer. Healthcare, health security, and everyday health are perceived as among the most important issues. When society is polled, over 60% state that health is one of the most significant factors," stated President Andrzej Duda before signing the bill on the National Oncology Strategy.

"In 2015, we recorded 160,000 new cases of malignant tumors, resulting in 100,000 deaths. This is an enormous number, and it is the second leading cause of mortality from disease. There is no doubt that our duty as public authorities and individuals responsible for healthcare is to create the best possible conditions to prevent cancer, and if it does occur, to diagnose and treat it as effectively as possible," he added.

“I have no doubts that [Adam Glapiński] is a person absolutely professionally prepared to serve as the President of the National Bank of Poland. Please cast your minds back to the moment when the President received his nomination, when the Sejm approved him as a candidate for this position. At that time, no one had any doubts that he was a person absolutely adequate for this role and capable of handling the duties and burdens that come with leading the NBP. There is no real discussion about him being the right person in the right place. However, a discussion about salaries at the NBP has indeed emerged recently. I can only smile and say that if the information we can find in the media about the level of these salaries around the board is true, then as president, I am jealous. I don’t hide it, I am jealous. Everyone knows what the president's salary is” - President Andrzej Duda said at a press conference.

"I can only say what President Belka said, that a lot is paid in the banking sector. Therefore, salaries at the NBP are high. Are they adequate? Let experts who know the banking sector comment on that. I know one thing. The NBP is a public institution, and when the question arises whether the level of remuneration at the NBP should be public or not, I see no obstacles to it being public. Since it is public in other areas of public life, why shouldn't it be public here? The pay scale at the NBP is not President Glapiński's decision. These are decisions that were made at the time when Prof. Belka held his term as President of the NBP. This is something that President Glapiński found when he came to the NBP. It has remained at the same level all this time" - said President Andrzej Duda at a press conference.

The interrogation of Paweł Wojtunik before the parliamentary committee investigating VAT fraud began with a motion to exclude its chairman, Marcin Horała. The former head of the Central Anticorruption Bureau's representative argued that interviews given by Horała to the media raised suspicions about his objectivity during the interrogation. Ultimately, the motion did not gain the support of the majority of the committee.

"I do not intend to plead forgetfulness and have never done so. Throughout my entire professional career, I have never pleaded forgetfulness. I have been a witness in many proceedings. I have never encountered such an accusation. Recalling the interrogation and argument from the Amber Gold commission is highly inappropriate," Wojtunik stated in his opening remarks.

The Minister of Family, Labour and Social Policy has submitted a request to Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki to dismiss Elżbieta Bojanowska, Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Family, from her post – the ministry announced in a statement.

"As part of her official duties, Deputy Minister Elżbieta Bojanowska oversaw changes to the act on combating domestic violence and certain other acts. She was also responsible for the area of senior policy and social assistance. The draft act contained controversial provisions to which Minister Elżbieta Rafalska never agreed. Every form of violence should always be severely condemned, and its victim should be protected as best as possible."

We are introducing a modern tool for effectively combating crimes committed in the interest of large companies and legal entities. The law is very necessary because previous legal solutions have failed - said Zbigniew Ziobro at a press conference. This law isn't meant to be used. First and foremost, this law is for playing a preventive role, so that it doesn't have to be used, so that companies that know about the high standards and requirements created by the regulations adhere to the demands of those standards - Ziobro added.

- They are constantly sending contradictory signals, it's an astonishing counter-dance where, on one hand, they are very afraid of these extremely right-wing circles and are doing everything to rein them in, while on the other hand, they want to pretend to centrist voters that they are a pro-European party. They are not, because facts speak louder than words. Words, I can tell you today that I am a Spanish bullfighter, but people will look and see Kamiński doesn't look like a Spanish bullfighter, or that I am an astronaut, and no one will believe it. They can say anything about themselves, from calling the European Union flag (...) calling that European and Marian flag a rag, to saying that Poland is in the center of Europe, in the heart of Europe. I think, Mr. Editor, that there are realistically three social emotions that are a real problem for PiS in these elections (...) The first is the issue of clericalization; this is a social emotion where PiS does not have an advantage among Poles. "The Democratic Left Alliance and its coalition partners, namely the Labour Union, PPS, Feminist Initiative - have coalition potential. We will choose the most sensible option. One where we can talk about our program without any inhibitions. All decisions will be made by the end of January" - said the leader of the Democratic Left Alliance, Włodzimierz Czarzasty, in an interview with Justyna Dobrosz-Oracz on wyborcza.pl.

"Most decisions will be made this week. We are in talks with the Polish People's Party, with Adrian Zandberg, with the Greens, with Ms. Katarzyna Lubnauer, with the European Union of Democrats, and with Civic Platform" - he added.

- As elections approach, there's always an outpouring of fake news and various pieces of information, which sometimes aim to sow discord within the political environment, in this case, the Law and Justice environment - said Michał Dworczyk in an interview on the program "Wydarzenie i Opinie" on Polsat News. - So, someone wants to pit you against Mariusz Błaszczak? - the journalist pressed. - It's hard to resist that impression, but we are too experienced politicians, we have worked with Minister Błaszczak for too long, to succumb to this kind of provocation - Dworczyk replied.

- I can stand by Jarosław Kaczyński's words that if someone is thinking about earning a lot of money, they should seek their fortune in business. Public service, on the other hand, should be rather a synonym for humility and service, meaning work. - There are no premises that would necessitate shortening the term of office. The budget prepared for 2019 is a very responsible and very good budget. - I don't know how much these individuals earn [at the NBP]. These are media publications, by media outlets that don't particularly love President Glapiński; for several weeks, they've targeted him, grilling him. I think that for the good of the cause, for the good of the institution, the President and the officials at the NBP should positively respond to President Duda's appeal and disclose these earnings. Let us also remind our viewers that the pay scale at the NBP, according to the statement of the NBP's legal representative, was established during the time of Adam Glapiński's predecessor, Marek Belka. - This weekend, we will present an addendum to the law [so-called energy law], which was passed by parliament at the end of last year. No, not [not an amendment]. If they have given him such power, he is now Deputy Prime Minister, and after the next parliamentary elections, he may become Prime Minister - the Deputy Marshal of the Senate continued.

- The League has a chance to be the largest party delegation in the EP, alongside Germany's CDU. Do you think that this politician, who is coming to Poland, is asking for a meeting with Jarosław Kaczynski, and Kaczynski should refuse? - Bielan continued. - Italy is a founding country of the European Economic Community, a country without which no important decisions in the EU are made. If in the so-called G5 group, the five largest countries after the UK's departure, which includes Poland and Italy, these countries adopt a common strategy, then it is a strategy that no other country can bypass. So this kind of alliance will truly be useful to us in various decisions that await the EU in the near future - he added.

- I am glad that such an important politician from such an important country as Italy is seeking a meeting with Jarosław Kaczynski. I believe Kaczynski is showing great political instinct by meeting with him and will urge him to support Poland's position on various important issues - Bielan concluded.

„This spectacle has been going on for many, many days. The earnings are outrageous, because they represent a doctor's or teacher's annual or two-year salary. Nothing is happening. Neither are these individuals being dismissed, nor is there any information. The NBP's plenipotentiary is making a fool of herself by saying she cannot reveal how much these women earn because global intelligence services would become interested.
