At 10:45 in the Sejm, a press conference will be held by Deputy Prime Minister Jarosław Gowin and Minister Jadwiga Emilewicz. At noon, Minister Jan Krzysztof Ardanowski will meet with journalists.

At 11:00 in the Sejm, a conference will take place with the participation of Janusz Korwin-Mikke, Robert Winnicki, and Grzegorz Braun. The conference will focus on the coalition of parties for the European Parliament elections.

Also at 11:00, a meeting of the presidium of the National Board of the Polish Teachers' Union (ZNP) will be held, to which Prime Minister Morawiecki has been invited. The topic of discussion will be the financial situation of employees and wage increases in education. The Minister of Education has invited educational trade unions to a "consultation meeting" concerning a draft regulation on wages (on the same day and at the same time).

Today, a meeting is also scheduled between Paweł Mucha, Jacek Sasin, and Tadeusz Cymański. The topic of discussion is expected to be assistance for forex loan holders. This concerns several projects currently in the Sejm, primarily the President's proposals. "We are counting on the Parliament to energize its work on the President's solutions for forex loan holders," Minister Mucha stated last week on Polish Radio.

- I am a member of the same formation, i.e., UED, after being expelled from the Civic Platform. It wasn't me who took offense at Schetyna, but Schetyna who got scared of me, Kamiński, and Niesiołowski - stated Jacek Protasiewicz in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego." - Rather a joint decision to save the opposition's voting power - he added, referring to another shift in parliamentary allegiances.

- I didn't join Nowoczesna to expect a career there. It was truly a matter of saving the strength of the opposition's voice in parliament and in media debates – stated Jacek Protasiewicz in a conversation with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

“This poll [in Rzeczpospolita] is pleasing because it shows that Law and Justice enjoys high support. Poll experts have recently calculated that when you look historically at the three years of PiS's rule, summing up annual polls and taking an average, a consistent upward trend for PiS is evident. This demonstrates that Poles, above all, appreciate reliability and credibility in politics, they appreciate those political forces that firmly implement their program, do not back down from their promises, and execute a program aimed at the vast majority of society” - said Minister Jacek Sasin on Radio Jedynka.

„This is precisely a proposal to ignite a religious war in Poland. It is evident that when there are no positive economic or social proposals, the mechanism of a religious war is always employed, sparking another discussion as was the case with abortion and same-sex unions. This time, the Church has been targeted, a fight against the Church, in effect, a fight against religion” – stated Minister Jacek Sasin on Jedynka radio.

- What satisfaction is there in being the strongest in opposition, especially in opposition to a government that is demolishing the state, Poland's place in the EU, and the rule of law? It's a terribly meager satisfaction. Is the purpose of being in politics to play the role of an opposition leader who puts the other leaders in their place? What satisfaction is there in that? The local government election results, 34 to 27 in favor of PiS against KO, meaning the combined percentage and actual votes for Nowoczesna and PO were less than the combined votes for PO and Nowoczesna in 2015. This is a direct path to repeating defeat this year, in 2019 – stated Jacek Protasiewicz in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

"Indeed, the NBP is an independent institution. Neither the government, nor PiS, nor the parliamentary majority has any influence on how it is managed or how salaries are determined. I don't know how true these media reports are. We have a certain discrepancy between what we hear in the media and what is the official position of the NBP. I think [this matter] should be clarified, because a certain standard of salary levels should be maintained. It cannot be the case that individuals, who may play important roles, but are civil servants, earn such large sums as we hear in media reports. This must be outrageous to some Poles. It would be good if such situations, which outrage citizens, did not occur in any public institution" - said Minister Jacek Sasin on Jedynka radio.

- The method of uniting the opposition that Civic Platform used in December is leading to opposite effects. It not only frightens leaders and members of opposition parties, but also discourages people - stated Jacek Protasiewicz in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

- Platforma will never make such an offer [because Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz was the candidate for prime minister]. If such an offer could be made contractually or Kosiniak-Kamysz could be a candidate for prime minister, it seems to me it would only be within a broad coalition. Platforma is convinced that the best candidate for prime minister is the leader of PO, contrary to the majority of Poles – stated Jacek Protasiewicz in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

- I think today it's fifty-fifty, 50-50 [the probability of Donald Tusk running in the presidential election]. Everything will, of course, depend on a certain social mood that we will observe after the parliamentary elections. If it turns out then that Donald Tusk has the greatest chance and will indeed be a candidate who has a chance to defeat Andrzej Duda, then yes. If there is a need to reach for another personal variant, then I think Tusk himself will bless such a variant - stated Jacek Protasiewicz in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

„Civic Platform will not go to war with the Church, but I look with great kindness upon Barbara Nowacka forcefully raising this issue. We have autonomy in the Constitution, independence between the state and the Church, and after 22 years of the Constitution being in effect, there is a need for new reflection. As PO, we have no complexes, because in Donald Tusk's first term of government, we abolished the property commission, and then we initiated talks about financing the Church through tax deductions, not from the Church fund. It's worth returning to this” – said the Vice-Chairman of PO, Tomasz Siemoniak, in an interview with Beata Lubecka on Radio Zet.

„We'd like a broader coalition. Please see what Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz is saying about the growing openness within the PSL to a joint run in the European Parliament. I believe these ongoing discussions will yield a positive outcome. One cannot force anyone. There is still some time left, a few weeks” - said the Deputy Chairman of PO, Tomasz Siemoniak, in an interview with Beata Lubecka on Radio Zet.

- At the turn of January and February, as announced by Prime Minister Morawiecki, further programmatic ideas and another program from PiS will be presented in the election year 2019, because shortly after, following the European Parliament elections, we have parliamentary elections in the autumn for the Sejm and Senate. This program will be, as always, a PiS program, a comprehensive proposal for Poles. One of the very important points, which our political leaders, President Kaczyński, and also the Prime Minister, have mentioned, will be a focus on and work towards wage growth, improving the financial situation of Poles. These are issues that interest and concern all of us - stated Michał Dworczyk in an interview with Marek Pyza on TVP1's "Political Quarter Hour".

- This topic [Adam Andruszkiewicz's appointment] has been discussed for several days now. It seems to me that [everything] has already been said on this matter. Andruszkiewicz is a young politician and has proven his effectiveness during this term. Regarding organizational matters, he also demonstrated very good results in his previous social and political activities. We faced a situation where one of the Deputy Ministers of Digitization assumed the duties of the government plenipotentiary. It was necessary to strengthen the leadership of the Ministry of Digitization, and this has happened. I will not offer any new arguments here - stated Michał Dworczyk in an interview with Marek Pyza on TVP1's "Political Quarter Hour".

- Many commentators are certain that the new European Parliament will be different: more conservative, Eurosceptic, Eurorealist. There will also be new groups, but they will be different. The EPP group will be much smaller, the socialists' group absolutely more modest, and I don't know if the liberals will maintain their numbers given Macron's disaster. I think our group will grow. There's a saying in politics that its greatest charm is that it exists. We are not predetermining at this moment what this group will be or what its shape will be. We are talking with various people, including the Five Star Movement - stated Ryszard Czarnecki in an interview with Piotr Witwicki on Polsat News' "Polityczne Graffiti".

- Today, we are here concerning Minister Andruszkiewicz. Once again. Frankly, we would prefer to meet on other matters, but Andruszkiewicz and the controversies surrounding him are something worth addressing. The controversies are increasing. We are here today regarding a report revealed by a television station, which states that in 2014, signatures were falsified within Młodzież Wszechpolska (All-Polish Youth). At that time, Andruszkiewicz was the chairman of Młodzież Wszechpolska. Coincidentally, it so happened that an entire volume of the case files went missing from this investigation. A volume containing the protocols from the questioning of 12 witnesses. This matter got stuck somewhere between one prosecutor's office and another. In reality, we still don't know what is happening with this case to this day. However, we do know that this case has stalled - stated Cezary Tomczyk at a briefing in the Sejm.

- Until this volume of case files is found, until these witnesses are re-questioned, this investigation cannot be concluded, charges cannot be pressed, nor can theses be presented. Therefore, today we are presenting a political thesis and a question simultaneously: is it true that a protective umbrella has been cast around Mr. Andruszkiewicz in order to protect his good name and interests? Because if it is true that these controversies are increasing, then we would expect answers, and unfortunately, there are no such answers. Today, we are submitting a notification of a potential criminal offense in connection with the disappearance of a volume of case files from the investigation into signature falsification within Młodzież Wszechpolska - the Civic Platform politician continued.

- I agree, unequivocally yes, but there's a certain paradox in this, because it was the Polish left that gave Poland the Concordat, the details of this Concordat are known, we can look into it, see (...) Certainly, the separation of church and state is needed and should not be a fiction, we see this especially over the last three years, when the Catholic Church has effectively become an ally of one political party, which has little to do with Catholicism and Christianity anymore. Today, when I look, also as a Catholic, at the Polish Church, I simply feel sad, because the Polish Church itself is acting to the detriment of the Church. If anyone has ever done so much harm to the Catholic Church in Poland, it is unfortunately the Polish Episcopate in recent years - stated Cezary Tomczyk in the Gazeta.pl Morning Interview, when asked by Piotr Maślak about Barbara Nowacka's words, whether he shares the stance that relations between the state and the Polish Church are unhealthy and there is no agreement for the Church to write laws and influence politicians.

Grzegorz Braun, a prominent figure known for his Eurosceptic views, has officially joined the "Koalicja AntyUE" (Anti-EU Coalition). The announcement was made via a post on the official Twitter account of the National Movement (@RuchNarodowy) on January 8, 2019.

The Council of Ministers will convene on Tuesday at 10:00 AM. The agenda includes, among other items, a draft bill on the liability of corporate entities for offenses punishable by law.

- If this information [regarding salaries at the NBP] is confirmed, it would be an extremely outrageous fact, and I would expect the authorities of the National Bank of Poland to present the public with a justification for such shockingly high earnings. I emphasize: we should first know the facts, but it is obvious that these facts should reach the public opinion - stated Jarosław Gowin at a briefing in the Sejm. As he emphasized, the term of office of the NBP president lasts 6 years, and there is no possibility of shortening it.

- Further increases [for teachers] are ahead of us. The first ones began in April 2018, a year earlier, in 2017, the government announced these increases. That was 5.35%, from January 10.35%, also planned in the budget. Without waiting for the budget to be passed, for the budget law to be signed, we are already proceeding with the regulation. Hence the meeting with the unions. At the beginning of this process, because of course the unions have the statutory time, 21 days, to comment on this regulation - stated Anna Zalewska at a briefing.

"I would like to know what Martyna Wojciechowska's actual salary is, because for now, there is media speculation. I hope the NBP President will respond to this initiative by Senator [Jackowski], and we will learn about the salaries. A young man, so that he proves himself, that Polish digitalization progresses, that the Internet reaches all homes. I believe that his work for Poland will be useful” - said Kornel Morawiecki from WiS in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski in “Wydarzenia i opinie” on Polsat News. 

„They also say about me that I am a Russian agent of influence. The fact that someone is questioning the presence of American troops means absolutely nothing. I, and my circle, protested 30 years ago against Soviet troops being in Poland, who were meant to defend us from Americans. I don't know if it's good now that we have American troops who are meant to defend us from Russians. This is something to consider. It would be best if there were no dispute between us and the Russians” - said Kornel Morawiecki from WiS in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on "Wydarzenia i opinie" on Polsat News.

„For now, we are more in the sphere of German and American influence than Russian. I want our independence. We fought for independence, for a solidary Republic, and that is the Poland we want. We should have good diplomatic, economic, and cultural relations with the Russians. They are a nation close to us. Our Polish fate, the fate of Europe, depends on this” - he added.

„For now, the presence [of American troops] is incomplete, it is symbolic. I think this presence doesn't seriously give us anything. I would want there to be no troops here, other than the Polish Army” - Morawiecki said.

"If Salvini were meeting with Prime Minister Morawiecki and that meeting concerned government matters, then one could comment one way or another, as it would be an element of the government's policy. If he is meeting with a party leader, we know what the goal is. It's worth informing Poles about this goal before the European elections. This goal is the construction of an anti-European bloc and the beginning of this bloc. When British conservatives, who are leaving the EP due to Brexit, are no longer present, today PiS is looking for an anti-EU ally, and it has found that ally in the person of a proponent of Putin and Le Pen" - said Cezary Tomczyk from Civic Platform (PO) in an interview with Monika Olejnik on "Kropka nad i" on TVN24.

„If Kaczyński could take away 20% of MPs' salaries with a flick of his finger, then he can also sort out this matter [the NBP]” - said Marek Jakubiak in an interview with Monika Olejnik on TVN24's "Kropka nad i". „Professor Glapiński must know that this is Polish money. It is not his money and it does not fall from the sky”.
