Różański:

Generals in Politics – Our Society Probably Isn't Ready for It Yet. However, We Should Firmly Articulate What is Crucial for the State

- I think these people simply want to be treated seriously and want their voices to be noticed. Generals in politics today – perhaps our society isn't ready for that yet, but I will continue to stand by the position that we should firmly and with full conviction articulate what is essential for the state - stated Mirosław Różański in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

07:48

Różański:

Błaszczak is not as controversial in his statements as his predecessor, but nothing has changed regarding the situation in the army

- I believe that [Mariusz Błaszczak at the Ministry of National Defence] is a continuation. In a slightly different form, Minister Błaszczak is not as expressive and perhaps as controversial in his statements as his predecessor, but when it comes to the situation in the army, I believe nothing has changed. Unfortunately, it's a level playing field, but I think it's a slippery slope - stated Mirosław Różański in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

07:50

Lubnauer:

Civic Coalition is a Tactical Alliance

It is known that [the Civic Coalition] is a tactical alliance. There had to be a certain programmatic minimum, based on principles related to a democratic state of law, and membership in the EU, which is what definitely unites us. I believe that [there has been] a certain failure of Jarosław Kaczyński's vision of the state, based on the complete politicization of all state institutions: from the police and prosecution, through the judiciary, because the National Council of the Judiciary is now comprised solely of party appointees, to the politicization of all state treasury companies. This is interesting because it is believed that all previous governments also made their creative contributions, but none changed so many laws solely to have cadre laws, i.e., those enabling the takeover of offices, state treasury companies, etc.” - said Katarzyna Lubnauer, the leader of Nowoczesna, in an interview with Jan Wróbel on Radio TOK FM's Poranek.

07:51

Lubnauer on Moves from Nowoczesna to Teraz!: Petru is Skillfully Crafting a Whole Legend Around It

"These are individual people in specific regions [who are leaving Nowoczesna for Teraz!], however, I see that [Ryszard Petru] is skillfully crafting a whole legend around it. Like in Podkarpacie, where it turned out that realistically speaking, it was a dozen, maybe 30 people who decided to switch. These are individuals who for a long time were not encouraged to pay their membership dues, and then were removed for not paying them. The same happened in Zachodniopomorskie, where one person left and wrote a letter about 40. This is how a parallel reality is created" - said the leader of Nowoczesna, Katarzyna Lubnauer, in an interview with Jan Wróbel on Radio TOK FM's Poranek.

Neumann Recalls the Kogut Case: Tough Corruption Charges, Yet He Still Walks Freely in the Senate. Nothing Happens to Him.

- Nothing has changed [regarding the position of Civic Platform club leader]. After three years of hard work by the prosecution, they have returned to the same case. A charge for an official offense, meaning exceeding authority, after three years. A case that was cleared by the prosecution when it was independent. The prosecution investigated it and found no incriminating elements - stated Sławomir Neumann in an interview with Piotr Witwicki on Polsat News' "Polityczne Graffiti". - They found some hook to be able to press some charge. That's how PiS conducts its politics. I understand - added the Civic Platform club leader.

"I would like to remind you that in the PiS government, the coordinator of special services is a person who was convicted in the first instance in court. If we are dealing with gangster-like politics, where services and police are used, meaning Prosecutor General Zbigniew Ziobro uses the prosecution to, on one hand, protect PiS and PiS members, I will recall recent, simple stories, I won't even comment on Senator Kogut. Tough corruption charges, and the man still walks freely in the Senate. Nothing happens to him. I will recall cases where PiS was directly protected by the prosecution, where PiS members, like Mr. Sasin recently, one of the witnesses in the Wołomin case, SKOK Wołomin, says that Sasin took money. In a normal situation, if this concerned an opposition MP, the CBA and prosecution would have already intervened, but the prosecution says there is no case."

08:10

Neumann:

Ziobro won't intimidate us. Let them file charges, let it go to court. In an independent court, we will present evidence.

- Ziobro would want this [withdrawal] and he would want to silence me, to intimidate us. He won't intimidate us. Let them file charges, let it go to court. In an independent court, we will present evidence. This is unfortunately the policy that Ziobro and PiS used in the years 2005-2007, and they are using it now - stated Sławomir Neumann in an interview with Piotr Witwicki on Polsat News' "Polityczne Graffiti". - There are no such voices [calling for my removal as head of the Civic Platform club] - he added.

08:21

Neumann:

A joint parliamentary club of PO and N is a good idea. Poles expect further steps

- I think it's a good idea [a joint parliamentary club of PO and N], that it's an element of consolidating the opposition. Poles expect further steps, that we will expand - stated Sławomir Neumann in an interview with Piotr Witwicki in "Polityczne Graffiti" on Polsat News.

- For the electorate, it's an important signal that we are continuing the idea we had in the local government elections and only expanding it. As one of today's polls shows, this expanded opposition base, meaning opposition parties going in a single bloc, could gain 50% support - he continued.

08:32

Gawłowski on Prosecutorial Charges: It's PiS, Ziobro, and I assume Kaczyński, because decisions are made at Nowogrodzka. I have no doubt that a rank-and-file prosecutor has no influence on decisions.

I effectively divested myself of immunity for the second time, and the Sejm could have voted recently. It didn't have to wait for my renunciation. My renunciation is one thing, and the proceedings in this regard are already concluded. The Marshal was unable to effectively deliver to me for almost 10 months the documents that allegedly arrived from the prosecutor's office” - said Stanisław Gawłowski from Civic Platform in an interview with Robert Mazurek on RMF FM.

It's PiS, Ziobro, and I assume Kaczyński, because decisions are made at Nowogrodzka. I have no doubt that a rank-and-file prosecutor has no influence on decisions” - he added.

Petru on European Parliament Elections: I Support the Opposition Championing Entry into the Eurozone

- We need to be different and there's no way to create more Civic Coalitions within the opposition, because they evidently destroy the smaller partners that join them. I said there's no chance of joining something called the Civic Coalition, which involves falling into a well and then disappearing without a trace. However, a broad formula... Today, the latest poll shows that if there were a unified opposition formula going to the elections together, it would be 50:38. This scenario [all opposition parties in one bloc] is on the table. It's a matter of leaders' responsibility. Of course, it's important to do it wisely, on the basis of cooperation - stated Ryszard Petru in an interview with Krzysztof Ziemiec on TVP1's "Political Quarter Hour".

- I am a proponent of the opposition [in the European Parliament elections] championing entry into the euro area. We can differ on the timing, but it's an important element. The issue of the rule of law, respect for democracy, and the rule of law. These are elements that clearly unite, but this needs to be worked out. I don't want to impose or suggest anything to anyone. There must be several common areas and several common economic areas that unite us - he added.

Grabiec:

Allegations Against Neumann are Political. They Were Already Verified by the Prosecution When It Was Independent

“In normal times, in a normal situation, Civic Platform, recognizing high standards not only legal but also moral, we have held the position that individuals facing charges should suspend their public activity until their situation is clarified. However, in this situation, when we see what has been happening to Poland for 3 years, with the prosecution, what attempts at taking over the courts by those in power, we know the content of the charges against Chairman Neumann and we know that these are political charges, that they were already verified by the prosecution when it was independent,” said PO spokesperson Jan Grabiec in an interview with Jacek Prusinowski on Radio Plus.

09:50

Grabiec:

Year by Year, We Increasingly Appreciate What Sikorski Did as Foreign Minister

Today, Radosław Sikorski is a former Minister of Foreign Affairs. Year by year, we increasingly appreciate what he did as Minister of Foreign Affairs. I did not listen to those words [from the tapes published by the TVP Info portal]. As far as I understand, it was a private conversation. Many adults, in private conversations, say things they wouldn't want to be heard publicly. Such behavior is reprehensible, and we should not hear such indecent phrases in the public sphere,” said the Civic Platform (PO) spokesperson, Jan Grabiec, in an interview with Jacek Prusinowski on Radio Plus.

Grabiec on the Merger of PO and Nowoczesna Clubs: We Need a New Symbol, a Stage of Cooperation, a Drawing Closer

We need a new symbol, a stage of cooperation, a drawing closer. This next step should be the merger of the [PO and Nowoczesna] clubs. It is undoubtedly the expectation of our voters that we will work together,” stated PO spokesperson, Jan Grabiec, in an interview with Jacek Prusinowski on Radio Plus.

Paruch:

The Strategic Goal is to Focus on Stabilization

- After the local government elections, of course, forces and means should be regrouped, as is said in political science. However, this strategic goal, which is to focus on stabilization, to meet social expectations, is very clearly visible. Poles want a lot of peace, and basic social groups, regardless of whether they live in big cities or rural areas, are so optimistic about reality, about the possibilities of their own consumption and development, and daily life, that it is worth responding to these needs. And in my opinion, this is the priority goal for the current authorities today, having completed the first stage of their governance. These first two years were crucial because it was then necessary to launch the reforms that were promised in the 2015 election campaign, and today Law and Justice must seriously consider what to promise Poles in the 2019 parliamentary elections - stated Waldemar Paruch in "Sygnały dnia" PR1.

10:57

Paruch:

There Will Be No Significant Systemic Changes in the Coming Months, as They Are Not Needed at This Stage

- Law and Justice is a party that is a decisive party of change. It would be a denial of the very essence of this party. However, announcing big, priority changes that fundamentally transform the lives of each of us is one thing, and introducing changes spread over time and rather small changes is another. There will be no significant systemic changes in the coming months, as they are not needed at this stage - stated Waldemar Paruch in "Sygnały dnia" on PR1.

11:01

PM at COP24: It's not international conventions, but intergenerational solidarity that has brought us here and demands intensified climate action.

It's not international conventions, but intergenerational solidarity that has brought us here and demands intensified climate action. In Katowice, we meet to ensure living conditions on Earth for our children and grandchildren, who will feel the effects of the decisions we make today. When I was a young boy, I was interested in robotics. At the time, it seemed to me that robots, like those from Star Wars, would soon become companions in our daily lives. It was the era of Moon landings and space exploration. This conquest seemed within reach. No one expected that the world would take a slightly different direction, that the Internet would cause a real revolution in interpersonal communication, and thanks to it, we would be able to learn about climate change from every corner of the Earth” - said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki in Katowice during COP24.

11:08

PMM:

Innovation Must Be the Main Driver of Energy Transformation

Poland is one of the fastest-transforming energy countries in the world since 1989. We also have enormous achievements in energy efficiency over the last 25 years. Innovation must be the main driver of energy transformation. Innovation requires smart tax and regulatory policy. We also take care of the other side of the equation. Poland was and is a leading advocate for carbon dioxide absorption by forests, as evidenced by our proposal to adopt a forest declaration” – said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki in Katowice during COP24.

11:23

Brejza:

We Demand an Immediate Audit of the Actions of MSWiA and KGP Leadership

- On September 30th, as revealed today by the media outlet Wirtualna Polska, a scandalous event occurred in Bydgoszcz involving a police officer and the driver of Jarosław Kaczyński. The vehicle with Kaczyński inside entered a one-way street and was stopped by a police officer who intended to enforce the law. Kaczyński's driver, likely his bodyguard, jumped out of the vehicle and, according to witnesses, allegedly intimidated the officer, ordered him to stand aside, and expected him to abandon the procedures and let the limousine with Kaczyński pass. In this matter, the police officer drew up an official report, but a series of strange phone calls and events transpired. The General Police Headquarters suddenly took an interest in the case. A KGP inspection appeared, and this officer ultimately left the police force, as revealed by the media. He was a harassed officer, threatened with losing his job by Kaczyński's bodyguard, the driver – stated Krzysztof Brejza at a briefing in the Sejm.

- We expect an immediate audit of the actions of the leadership of the Ministry of Interior and Administration (MSWiA) and the General Police Headquarters (KGP), because we know that the KGP was directly involved in this matter immediately after the event. We expect, above all, explanations from Minister Brudziński and the KGP to reveal the note that the police officer drew up, and we appeal to Kaczyński to have a talk with his courtiers and bodyguards and to stop harassing police officers – he added.

12:45

PM:

We Are Placing Electromobility at the Heart of Our Economic and Transport Development
We are placing [electro]mobility at the heart of our economic development, but also at the heart of transport development. Here, I want to emphasize very clearly that this serves both to improve climate quality, for clean air, but also for creating new jobs and raising the level of technological development. These challenges we are facing, we believe we can use as our certain advantages in the coming decade – stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki during COP24. We have learned certain lessons. We have a comprehensive and ambitious policy of responsible development, of which the electromobility development plan is an integral part – continued the head of the Polish government.

12:51

PMM:

Poland to Allocate Around €3-4 Billion for Electromobility and Clean Transport Over the Next 10 Years

- Poland will directly allocate approximately 3-4 billion euros for the development of electromobility and clean transport over the next 10 years, and we are increasing these amounts in our upcoming budgets - stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki during COP24.

13:01

President Duda: Poland's Economy Heavily Reliant on Coal, and This Will Not Change. We Will Pursue an Energy Mix.

- Of course, developing our country economically and industrially is an extremely important matter. Conducting research and development, introducing innovations into our economy, including in the mining sector and the use of coal for energy, is absolutely fundamental. It is extremely important because, firstly, we want to have a modern economy based on the latest technologies, an economy that produces highly processed products and goods. But we also want to implement the extremely important principle of sustainable development. This principle states that we should act in such a way as to preserve the environment around us as much as possible, especially the natural environment for future generations. I will not debate or discuss with scientists here the actual impact of humans on the world around us, particularly concerning the climate. But one thing is certain. If we can lead to a situation where we, as humans, have less impact on the climate and the natural reality surrounding us, then I say: all the better. But we must pursue wise policies. Therefore, as one of the declarations at this climate summit, we proposed a declaration on a fair and solidary industrial transformation of the world to protect the climate as much as possible. This primarily means taking into account the interests of societies, people, jobs, care for families, and everything that constitutes our daily lives, which is so incredibly important. It's not clever to eliminate everything and leave people without work, a state without a foundation, and collapse the economy. What is important is to transform it in a way that implements the principle of sustainable development while also safeguarding the interests of the state and society as much as possible – stated President Andrzej Duda during the Tauron Group's Barbórka Academy in Brzeszcze.

- That is precisely why I said during my speech opening the COP24 summit that Poland's economy is significantly based on coal and that this will not change. It will continue to be based on coal. Of course, we will implement an energy mix, our strategy, but coal is and will remain in Poland. Even the most cautious specialists consulted by the media yesterday stated that there are at least 35-40 years of extractable reserves at current prices, and 200 years of total reserves. This is our great treasure; we have the largest resources in Europe – added PAD.

13:04

President Duda: As Long As I Hold the Office of President, I Will Not Allow Anyone to Murder Polish Mining

- Do not worry. As long as I hold the office of President of Poland, I will not allow anyone to murder Polish mining. Because we have too great a tradition in it, even considering the feast of Saint Barbara, your Barbórka, whose customs are inscribed on our cultural heritage list, but above all, you are an absolutely strategic industry which - as I mentioned - forms the foundation of our economy. It must be preserved, although it must also be modernized and reformed. This is a great task to do it in the wisest, most pragmatic way possible, acting in such a way as to, on the one hand, secure the interests of employees and their families, but on the other hand, also to implement it in the most economical, profitable, and environmentally safe way – stated President Andrzej Duda during the Barbórka Academy of the Tauron Group in Brzeszcze.

15:47

Szydło:

Mining and coal are not just an academic discussion at climate summits, but the reality of our economy, our future
We want to talk about investments, about prospects, about showing the opportunities this industry provides. For us, here in Poland, mining and coal are not just an academic discussion at climate summits, but the reality of our economy, our future. Let us manage our resources wisely, let us take care of our environment wisely, and we will certainly be able to talk about good and wise development – said Beata Szydło during the Tauron Group Barbórka Academy in Brzeszcze.

18:30

Trzaskowski:

PiS Will Do Everything to Discredit Local Government Election Winners

- I understand that PiS will now do everything to discredit those elected in the local government elections, and they will try to put obstacles in their way. And waste is a good example of this. Also, PiS's incompetent energy policy will lead to a 60% increase in energy prices. And, of course, compensations are being proposed again, but for some reason, there are no compensations for local governments – said Rafał Trzaskowski in an interview with Justyna Dobrosz-Oracz for Gazeta Wyborcza.

- So I ask – if PiS is responsible for energy price hikes, where are the compensations for local governments? Because this is classic PiS policy – they create problems in education and energy policy, and then shift the costs onto local governments – Trzaskowski added.

18:31

Trzaskowski on EP Elections: I hope we can reach an agreement with both PSL, Nowoczesna, and possibly left-wing groups

- Where we went together, where we were able to build support for a single candidate, we won with a huge advantage. It will be similar here. I hope we can reach an agreement with both PSL, and Nowoczesna, and possibly left-wing groups and present a single list – said Rafał Trzaskowski in an interview with Justyna Dobrosz-Oracz for Gazeta Wyborcza.

18:32

Trzaskowski on Biedroń: "Today is Not the Time for New Entities and Further Divisions in the Opposition. Today is a Time for Talks, Especially Since We Treat Everyone Subjectively."

- As a person, I can support all capable politicians who want to fight the violation of the rule of law in Poland. However, I believe that today is not the time for creating new entities and further divisions within the opposition. Today is a time for talks, especially since we treat everyone subjectively - said Rafał Trzaskowski in an interview with Justyna Dobrosz-Oracz for Gazeta Wyborcza.

19:45

Kempa on joint opposition lists for the European Parliament: "On the other side, there would have to be PJK to unite this crowd"

- On the other side, there would have to be Chairman Jarosław Kaczyński to unite this crowd. Since he is not there, I don't think they will unite on these lists. Excuse me, that is my opinion – said Beata Kempa in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on the program "Wydarzenia i Opinie" (Events and Opinions) on Polsat News.

19:52

Kempa on the emerging "True Europe Movement" formation: "In the current situation, it might be a problem, but not one that cannot be solved."

- I am surprised, of course. However, as I said, I have seen and experienced many things in politics, and I strongly believe that a common goal will unite us – stated Beata Kempa in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on the program "Wydarzenia i Opinie" on Polsat News.

- In the current situation, it might be a problem, but not one that cannot be solved. I don't think so – Kempa added.

19:59

Paruch:

If a formation that built its campaign on hatred won in a democratic state, it would be very bad for that democracy. Such a unifying factor leads to no success.

- If a formation that built its campaign on hatred won in a democratic state, it would be very bad for that democracy. That is no democracy. Such a unifying factor leads to no success - said Waldemar Paruch in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on the program "Wydarzenia i Opinie" on Polsat News.

20:27

Nowacka on Biedroń: 'I believe these maneuvers, someone runs for office, resigns after a few days, gives up their mandate to someone weaker who might not have won, is simply unfair to voters.'

I did not run in any elections. Robert did. He resigned after 10 days, and I don't really understand it. Why did he run in the first place? I won't speak ill of him – said Barbara Nowacka in an interview with Monika Olejnik on the program "Kropka nad i".

I believe, moreover, that these maneuvers, someone runs for office, resigns after a few days, gives up their mandate to someone weaker who might not have won, is simply unfair to voters – added Nowacka.

20:34

Nowacka on PiS: They Must Be Removed From Power. Not Because We Disagree With Their Views, But Because They Are a Bunch of Hypocrites

Does Poland really have to look like this? We already know what it looks like. Incompetent 'misiewicze', unfortunately. That's why they must be removed from power. Not because we disagree with their views, but because they are a bunch of hypocrites – said Barbara Nowacka in an interview with Monika Olejnik on the program “Kropka nad i”.

Sejm to Vote on Motion Regarding Gawłowski on Thursday

Postponing some votes from Friday to Thursday has become a tradition of the Sejm in this term, led by Marek Kuchciński. This will also be the case this week – at 6:30 PM, MPs will vote on a motion to consent to criminal prosecution and the application of a preventive measure in the form of temporary detention of MP Stanisław Gawłowski.

Originally, the vote was supposed to take place two weeks ago, but Gawłowski renounced his immunity at the last moment. Consequently, the motion was sent back to the Sejm committee, which only convened this week. A second block of votes will also take place on Friday morning.
