Central Anti-Corruption Bureau Detains Chrzanowski

The Central Anti-Corruption Bureau (CBA) has detained a former minister. The news was reported by Radio ZET on Twitter. According to the radio station, the detained individual is the former Minister of Infrastructure and Development, Andrzej Adamczyk, who served in the Law and Justice (PiS) government. The CBA has confirmed the detention to Radio ZET, but has not yet provided details regarding the reasons for the arrest. Reports suggest that the investigation concerns alleged irregularities in the management of public funds during Chrzanowski's tenure. Further information is expected to be released as the investigation progresses.

Dworczyk on Chrzanowski's Arrest: Proof that the State Functions Efficiently and Manages Even in Crisis Situations

"From the very beginning when this matter came to light, all state organs have been working very efficiently, and the [arrest of Chrzanowski] fits into the actions of the appropriate services appointed for this purpose. The Prime Minister reacted swiftly upon receiving information about the situation surrounding the KNF. This led to the rapid resignation of the head of the KNF. The Prime Minister tasked the relevant services. First, an acting head of the KNF was appointed, and in recent days, a new head. Today we hear about the arrest. All these facts are proof that the state functions efficiently and manages even in crisis situations," said the Head of the Prime Minister's Chancellery, Michał Dworczyk, on Polish Radio's Program I.

07:31

Dworczyk on Chrzanowski's Arrest: "There Undoubtedly Had to Be Grounds. We Should Wait for the Trial to Conclude Before Passing Judgment."

There undoubtedly had to be grounds for this arrest. It seems to me that we should wait for the trial to conclude before passing judgment in this matter. It is the prosecution, and then the court, that must assess Mr. Chrzanowski’s actual role in this entire affair. Only after the court's verdict will we be able to speak unequivocally about what actually happened,” said Minister Michał Dworczyk in an interview with Jedynka radio.

Dworczyk on Russian Aggression in Ukraine: We Cannot Tolerate Such Actions. We See That Russia is Constantly Very Active and Has No Intention of Observing International Law

Minister Szczerski announced yesterday that we will advocate for strengthening sanctions against the Russian Federation. This is consistent with our ongoing efforts, namely our non-acceptance of Russian aggression against Ukraine. We cannot tolerate such actions. We see that Russia is constantly very active and has no intention of observing international law. The events in Ukraine show how crucial it is to care for Poland's security” - said Minister Michał Dworczyk on Radio Jedynka.

07:43

Dworczyk on Voivodeship Negotiations: 'I Regret That Party Leadership Decisions Prevented Broader Dialogue'

“I am very pleased that there was an opportunity to discuss a common program and cooperation. I regret that the decisions of party leadership – of the PSL or other formations – prevented a broader dialogue, mainly at the level of local government officials. It is local government officials who should discuss what is good for their regions. These conversations were largely led by local government officials, local politicians. I am glad that I could support these actions, and thanks to this, PiS was indeed able to take responsibility for 8 voivodeships,” said the Head of the Prime Minister's Chancellery, Michał Dworczyk, on the First Program of Polish Radio.

07:50

Czarzasty:

We Are Not Entering Coalitions with PiS
The President is there to safeguard the Constitution. The leader of the SLD and of every party is there to safeguard the principles within that party. If there is a situation where people in this party want to vote on the lists of another party, the leader of every party, including the SLD, does not agree to this. If people want to run from one party on the lists of another party, no sensible leader will agree to this – stated Włodzimierz Czarzasty in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego". - We are not entering coalitions with PiS. We do not sign agreements with PiS at any level. Do you know what the party leader does? If it happens that people from one party want to run from another party – I cut that short. If it happens that my party wants to engage with PiS at some level – I cut that short – added the SLD chairman.

07:52

Czarzasty:

Every Structure Has the Right to Complain. The Party is Democratic

- Every structure has the right to complain. The party is democratic. Remarks should be made. We have put forward a list in 340 districts. Therefore, there may be complaints - stated Włodzimierz Czarzasty in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

07:58

Czarzasty:

I Intend to Lead the Party Firmly, Manfully. I Will Defend Its Interests
I'm considering this: leading the party firmly, manfully. It will not happen that members of my party will run on another party's lists. It will not happen that we sign an agreement with PiS, and no situation like the one in Poznań will occur, where decisions of a higher body are not respected by a lower body - stated Włodzimierz Czarzasty in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego." - I will defend the interests of my party - he added.

08:01

Czarzasty:

My Dream Was and Is to Integrate the Left

- The way the SLD goes into the elections, it will certainly go in a substantive form, not as an appendage to anyone. My dream has always been and is to integrate the left. That is why we ran in the local government elections under the banner of SLD-Lewica Razem. If we manage to reach an agreement with Mr. Zandberg and the leadership of the Razem party, with the Greens, and with Mr. Biedroń's circle, I will be very satisfied - stated Włodzimierz Czarzasty in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

08:06

Czarzasty:

A Referendum for All SLD Members – Who Will We Partner With in the Elections

- If a coalition with left-wing parties is not formed, I am close to Prime Minister Cimoszewicz's thinking, to create a coalition on equal footing with the PSL and other entities that will run in the European elections under the banner of defending Poland in Europe. What will happen next? We will see. At the next National Council on December 15th, I believe we will pass a resolution that will convene a convention, which will decide in what form we will go into the European elections, and secondly – which is very important, because I promised this to everyone in my party – there will be a referendum of all party members, unprecedented in the Polish political scene – with whom we will go, or if we will go alone in the parliamentary elections. This is how a democratic party governs, a party that has been outside of the Sejm for 3 years – stated Włodzimierz Czarzasty in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

08:36

Bielan:

From the very beginning of the KNF affair, we said we would act very quickly
- From the very beginning of this whole [KNF] affair, we said we would act very quickly. The former president of KNF resigned within a few hours of the materials concerning this matter being revealed, of the publication in "Gazeta Wyborcza". Today he was detained and transported by the Central Anticorruption Bureau to the prosecutor's office, where, I believe, he will face charges - stated Adam Bielan in a conversation with Beata Michniewicz on "Trójka's Political Salon".

08:43

Bielan on the KNF: We Acted Swiftly
I think our listeners, voters, Poles, should compare the behavior of various state institutions with what happened during the Amber Gold scandal, when the same KNF filed a notification of a potential crime in December 2009, and the prosecution only initiated proceedings in mid-2012 – stated Adam Bielan in an interview with Beata Michniewicz on "Trójka's Political Salon". - It's true [we promised very high standards] and we acted swiftly. If we compare, for instance, the behavior of PO politicians after the gambling scandal or the prosecution, I don't know if anyone has been charged in that case today, whereas here we have an arrest by the Central Anticorruption Bureau and a meeting with the prosecutor just two weeks after the matter was made public – added the Deputy Speaker of the Senate.

08:55

Bielan:

Opposition's Prime Ministerial Candidate Ranks First in Lack of Trust Among Poles
Grzegorz Schetyna – the opposition leader, the opposition's candidate for Prime Minister, a motion for a constructive vote of no confidence will soon be considered – ranks first in terms of lack of trust among Poles, according to yesterday's CBOS survey – stated Adam Bielan in an interview with Beata Michniewicz on "Trójka's Political Salon". The opposition has a huge problem with selecting a leader who would be able to effectively throw down the gauntlet to us – added the Deputy Marshal of the Senate.

08:58

Mucha on the KNF: The State's Actions in This Matter Were Swift

- These are prosecutorial actions. I have the impression that the state's actions in this matter were swift. Starting from the resignation, through the change at the KNF position, the actions of the services and the Prime Minister of the Polish government. My experience from my time as a lawyer is that speed is not always the most important element; it's about the reliability of the proceedings and clarifying all circumstances. Sometimes, services or the prosecution deliberately undertake certain actions to verify and check - stated Paweł Mucha in an interview with Piotr Witwicki on Polsat News' "Polityczne Graffiti".

08:59

Mucha on the amendment to the Supreme Court Act: The matter is serious and requires consideration, which doesn't mean the decision won't be swift

- The matter is serious and requires consideration, which doesn't mean the decision won't be swift. The subject is very familiar to us. The President is on a visit to Bulgaria, and a signature cannot be expected before his return. This is something that will be analyzed by us - stated Paweł Mucha in an interview with Piotr Witwicki on Polsat News' "Polityczne Graffiti" when asked about the amendment to the Supreme Court Act.

09:03

Waszczykowski on Chrzanowski's Detention: A Couple of Weeks Isn't Too Long. I See No Problem

"I cannot comment on this because I do not know the details of the case. The matter is being considered by the services. Apparently, that was the course of events. Apparently, the materials found in the office and at home needed to be analyzed. That's what the analysis suggests. A couple of weeks is not too long. I don't see a problem here" - said Witold Waszczykowski from PiS in an interview with Beata Lubecka on Radio Zet.

09:10

Waszczykowski:

If Mosbacher Continues with Overt, Megaphone Diplomacy, It Won't Serve Polish-American Interests. Many Things Need Reform, Including the Media. No Such Plans Today.

One can intervene, and even has a duty to do so, but gently. We expect more delicate reactions from ambassadors and diplomats. If Madam Ambassador [Mosbacher] continues with such overt, megaphone diplomacy, it will not serve Polish-American interests. Many things need reform, and the media will probably also be reformed. There are no such plans today. All politicians responsible for this in the Ministry of Culture state that there are no works or plans, but perhaps there will be in the future. This is our, Polish decision, which we will not consult with this or that ambassador” - said Witold Waszczykowski from PiS in an interview with Beata Lubecka on Radio Zet.

09:12

Mucha on Gowin's cancellation of meeting with US Ambassador: I wouldn't attach too much importance to this kind of circumstance
I wouldn't attach too much importance to this kind of circumstance. It can happen that an ambassador seeks a meeting with me, and for various calendar reasons, I propose a different date. We also have to be aware that certain areas are absolutely assigned to those who have competence in this regard - stated Paweł Mucha in an interview with Piotr Witwicki on Polsat News's "Polityczne Graffiti," commenting on Jarosław Gowin's cancellation of a meeting with the US Ambassador.

09:35

Horała on TVN: This station is American capital, although some say it's Russian. That's what people are saying on the street.

- I don't know, it wasn't addressed to me. I haven't seen it [the US Ambassador's letter to Prime Minister Morawiecki] and I don't think anyone has really seen it. These are some second-hand accounts. But well, the diplomatic services of the USA and the USA always look after American capital, foreign capital, and this particular station [TVN] is, it seems, American capital, although some say it's Russian. I don't investigate. That's what people are saying on the street - stated Marcin Horała in an interview with Jan Wróbel on TOK FM.

10:06

Neumann:

No One on a White Horse Will Arrive to Solve Our Problems. We, the Opposition, Must Win European and Parliamentary Elections and Prepare for the Presidential Ones.

- No one on a white horse will arrive to solve our problems for us. We, the opposition, must win the European and parliamentary elections and prepare for the presidential ones. Tusk, and I believe this, will arrive here as a candidate for president in 2020. To be clear, this will not be a simple, easy campaign. People remember the good times when Tusk was prime minister. Today, Poles see that amidst this degredation of our government's foreign policy, Tusk has an absolutely very strong position in Europe and globally. His personal standing also builds Poland's position. He is a man who can absolutely be useful to Poland as president - stated Sławomir Neumann in an interview with Marek Kacprzak on WP's "Tłit" program.

10:08

Neumann:

Kałuża is a Judas and a traitor, without a doubt

- Councillor Kałuża is a Judas and a traitor, without a doubt. In Silesia, we say: ciulu. His punishment will be infamy in Silesia. For the rest of his life, he will bear the stigma of a traitor - stated Sławomir Neumann in an interview with Marek Kacprzak on the program "Tłit" WP.

10:09

Neumann:

Grabiec's words about 500+ were misinterpreted
Jan Grabiec's words were misinterpreted. PO has been talking from the beginning about extending [the benefit] to the first child and that it's worthwhile so it doesn't push people into unemployment. 500+ only for those who work is a misrepresentation, false information. It would be enough if one person in the family was looking for work or was employed – stated Sławomir Neumann in an interview with Marek Kacprzak on the WP program "Tłit".

10:16

CBA:

Marek Ch. to face corruption charges

"The detention in order to press charges was possible thanks to the intensive work of CBA officers, searches, interrogations of many witnesses, securing of documents, recordings, electronic equipment, and data carriers. The ABW conducted an expert analysis of the recording provided by Leszek Czarnecki, which was crucial for the criminal-legal assessment. The detained former head of KNF, Marek Ch., will be taken to the Silesian branch of the National Prosecutor's Office in Katowice, where he will face corruption charges" - says Piotr Kaczorek in a recording made available by the CBA.

12:05

Urbaniak:

PiS Nominated Chrzanowski as Scapegoat for KNF Affair. To Silence Him, He Was Detained This Morning

"The Central Anticorruption Bureau detained Mr. Marek Chrzanowski this morning. We think it's at least 20 days too late. First, the CBA was very slow, the prosecution was very slow. They allowed Mr. Chrzanowski to remain at liberty. They allowed him to visit his own office. For 3.5 hours, without any supervision, he could do whatever he wanted. Later, for 20 days, I think Mr. Chrzanowski noticed that he was gradually becoming the scapegoat for the entire KNF affair. I have the impression that PiS nominated Marek Chrzanowski as the scapegoat for this entire affair. To silence Mr. Chrzanowski, he was detained this morning" - said Jarosław Urbaniak from Civic Platform (PO) at a press conference in the Sejm.

"To this day, the prosecution has not questioned the head of the National Bank of Poland, Mr. Sokal. From the meeting between Leszek Czarnecki and Marek Chrzanowski, we know that after that conversation, they went to the head of the NBP to discuss, to summarize that conversation, to discuss the conversation in which a corrupt offer was made" - added Marta Golbik.

13:31

Duda:

Order Must Be Restored in the Sea of Azov. There is no doubt that Russia is the aggressor and international law has been violated. We are ready for all actions that will lead to the end of the conflict.

It is necessary to restore order in the Sea of Azov. Ukrainian sailors who were taken captive by Russian forces must be released, and the ships returned. There is no doubt that Russia is the aggressor and that international law has been violated once again; this is something that cannot be accepted, and Poland does not condone such action. We are ready for all actions that will lead to the end of this conflict,” said President Andrzej Duda, who discussed the situation in Ukraine with the President of Bulgaria. The statement by Andrzej Duda is quoted by the Chancellery of the President

Changes to the Chancellery of the Prime Minister Statute: Media Service Department Disappears

In accordance with the amendment to the ordinance on granting the statute of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister (KPRM), issued by the Prime Minister on November 22, the Media Service Department, headed by Anna Plakwicz, is being removed from the Chancellery. In practice, its liquidation is a consequence of the changes that have occurred within the KPRM. As we wrote on 300POLITYCE, Piotr Matczuk left the CIR, and was replaced by Tomasz Matynia.

14:51

Jaki:

President Trzaskowski Retreats from Further Promises

The following is a translation of a tweet by Patryk Jaki:

(Tweet content not provided, but the text implies a criticism of Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski for breaking campaign promises.)

The title of the article, attributed to Patryk Jaki, suggests that President Trzaskowski (referring to Rafał Trzaskowski, the Mayor of Warsaw, often addressed as 'President' in a colloquial sense due to the significance of his office) is reneging on his electoral pledges. The use of the URL to a tweet indicates that this is likely a commentary or an accusation made by Patryk Jaki on his social media platform, potentially highlighting specific promises that Jaki believes Trzaskowski is failing to keep.

Biedroń Resigns from City Council Seat in Słupsk

Robert Biedroń has resigned from his city council seat in Słupsk. The former mayor of Słupsk is no longer a municipal councilor. The resignation letter, written the day before, from Robert Biedroń has been received by the desk of the chairperson of the Słupsk City Council, portal GP24.pl reported.

19:04

Kierwiński:

Marek Ch. is a PiS nominee. It should be investigated whether he was the only one involved in this procedure.

- Marek Ch. is a nominee of PiS. It was under his nomination that Prime Minister Beata Szydło signed. Please remind me, is he the Vice-President of PiS? - said Marcin Kierwiński in an interview with Marcin Zaborski on RMF FM. He added:

"Marek Ch. is a nominee of PiS. His career in public administration is linked to PiS's election victory. Prime Minister Szydło, Vice-President of Law and Justice, signed under this nomination."

- It certainly needs to be investigated whether Mr. Marek Ch. was the only person involved in this procedure, or if there were others - added the Civic Platform politician.

19:37

Bielan:

I See No Reason for Glapiński to Resign Now

- I see no reason for President Glapiński to have to resign at this moment - stated Adam Bielan in an interview with Grzegorz Kajdanowicz on TVN24's "Fakty po faktach". As the Deputy Marshal of the Senate said, the behavior of the former head of the KNF was at least unethical, and the ruling camp reacted swiftly.

19:43

Bielan on Zdzisław's Plan: Giertych is a Skilled PR Man, but There's Nothing Sensational About It

- Across the entire EU, [after the crisis] the BRRD directive was introduced, which allows for compulsory restructuring, and such a plan was prepared for every large bank in Poland. The plan prepared by the President of the BFG, the president of this fund is named Zdzisław, hence lawyer Giertych, who, in addition to being a lawyer, is also a skilled PR man and politician, called it Zdzisław's plan. However, there is nothing sensational about it - stated Adam Bielan in a conversation with Grzegorz Kajdanowicz in TVN24's "Fakty po faktach".

19:47

Siemoniak:

I Assess the Ambassador's Letter as an Expression of Complete Desperation. She Tries to Contact Someone, but When She Hits a Wall, She Sits Down and Writes a Letter

- Relations with allies are about being able to solve all problems in the right way. I assess this letter from the ambassador as an expression of complete desperation. She talks to people, she engages with people, she tries to contact someone, but when she hits a wall, when she sees such statements, she refers to Minister Brudziński, she sits down and writes a letter - Tomasz Siemoniak said in an interview with Dorota Gawryluk on the program “Wydarzenia i Opinie” on Polsat News.

19:52

WKK on KNF Affair: We Submitted Requests for NIK Audit. It Would Be an Institution Capable of Immediately Auditing Financial Supervision

- We also submitted requests for an audit by the Supreme Audit Office. As I see it, there is trust in it from both opposition MPs and coalition MPs, who often refer to NIK's reports. It would be an institution capable of immediately entering and auditing financial supervision - said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz in a conversation with Dorota Gawryluk on the program “Wydarzenia i Opinie” on Polsat News.

19:55

WKK on the Future of 500+: We Voted Unanimously for the Project, and That's the Measure of Our Guarantee

- It is very good that there is a continuation of pro-family policy, and I will defend pro-family policy. Yes, because we were the only opposition club to vote for the 500+ project. We voted unanimously for the 500+ project, and that is the measure of our guarantee - said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz in an interview with Dorota Gawryluk on the program "Wydarzenia i Opinie" on Polsat News.

19:59

WKK:

Entry into Civic Coalition is Impossible. We are a Subject, Not an Object

- I rule out joining the Civic Coalition. Cooperation, perhaps creating new space, maybe some new project, that is a matter for discussion, but joining the Civic Coalition is not possible. We are a subject, not an object. We cannot be moved around - said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz in an interview with Dorota Gawryluk on the program "Wydarzenia i Opinie" on Polsat News.

20:26

Schetyna on Glapiński and KNF: He is politically responsible for this and should be questioned by the prosecutor's office and appear before a parliamentary inquiry committee

- He is responsible for this personal appointment (Marek Ch. – ed.), he is politically responsible for it and should be questioned by the prosecutor's office and should appear before a parliamentary inquiry committee - said Grzegorz Schetyna in an interview with Monika Olejnik on the TVN24 program “Kropka nad i”.

20:33

Schetyna:

We lost a great province due to betrayal. I can only regret that such a person was placed in the top spot in an electoral district, nominated by Nowoczesna.

- The bribing and betrayal of a member of Nowoczesna, a member of Civic Coalition in Silesia, are methods used by the head of the Prime Minister's Chancellery, on behalf of the Prime Minister and the ruling party, and this is political corruption. These are matters for which we will file a report with the prosecutor's office – said Grzegorz Schetyna in an interview with Monika Olejnik on the program „Kropka nad i” on TVN24.

- We lost a great province due to betrayal. I can only regret that such a person was placed in the top spot in an electoral district, nominated by Nowoczesna – Schetyna added.

20:36

Schetyna on EP Elections: I Don't Believe in President Tusk's Patronage, Because He's Head of the European Council and Cannot Do This, He Cannot Engage in Domestic Politics

- I don't believe in President Tusk's patronage, because he's the head of the European Council and cannot do this, he cannot engage in domestic politics. It depends on us how we build the relationship between future coalition partners. I believe in a broad list - said Grzegorz Schetyna in an interview with Monika Olejnik on TVN24's "Kropka nad i" program.

20:40

Schetyna on Supreme Court Changes: "It's Pretending. Kaczyński Wants to Exit This Clash Over Polexit"

- It's pretending. Kaczyński wants to exit this clash over Polexit, this clash with the European Commission, but nobody in the European Commission will be fooled. There must be a return to what was before, before the process of demolishing the independence of judges - said Grzegorz Schetyna in an interview with Monika Olejnik on the TVN24 program "Kropka nad i".
