- I would certainly say what I said afterwards. That is, that we have a human problem here, a human has certainly failed, and that crises happening in a democracy is a natural and characteristic thing. We have to deal with it. Today, I wouldn't say that sentence, especially knowing how loudly and vividly it made the headlines, but I have carefully read the editor's latest publication, in which you write on page 14: if an interview is reduced only to boxing your opponent, then it is not an interesting interview. The sentence that I wouldn't repeat today has been bolded and underlined - stated Jadwiga Emilewicz in a conversation with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".
07:53
- We are facing a crisis. A scandal is something you'd find in an alcove, when you catch someone with someone who shouldn't be there. In politics, we are dealing with a crisis. We certainly have a crisis; we've just finished a 12-hour interrogation of Mr. Czarnecki. The Chairman of the KNF, who committed... we don't fully know what. Based on this conversation, I can say with absolute certainty that he crossed safety and health regulations. A regulator should not be talking to the CEOs of banks they regulate in this manner at all - stated Jadwiga Emilewicz in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Piasecki's Interview."
07:56
Emilewicz:
It is crucial that we swiftly appoint a KNF Chairperson. A credible Chairperson.
- It is crucial that we swiftly appoint a Chairperson of the KNF. A credible Chairperson, who will not raise public doubts and will receive a green light from the Prime Minister to implement all necessary reforms within the KNF - stated Jadwiga Emilewicz in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

Emilewicz:
We are not a banana republic. We are a mature democracy. Institutions are working, the prosecutor's office is working.
- We are not a banana republic. We are a mature democracy. Institutions are working, the prosecutor's office is working. Let's give ourselves a chance to clarify and stabilize the system - stated Jadwiga Emilewicz in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego". As she emphasized, a new head of the KNF should appear as soon as possible.
08:10
Emilewicz:
An investigative commission should be launched when authorities are unable or unwilling to cope
- An investigative commission should be launched when the authorities responsible for clarifying matters are unable or unwilling to cope - stated Jadwiga Emilewicz in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Piasecki's Conversation".

Błaszczak:
We Are Striving to Strengthen Poland's Position in the Defense System
„We are striving to strengthen Poland's position in the defense system. My mission as the Minister of National Defense is to, in addition to strengthening relations within NATO, particularly with the United States, expand the numerical strength of the Polish Army. That is why I have established another division, located east of the Vistula River, and to equip the Polish Army with modern equipment” - stated Minister Mariusz Błaszczak on Radio Jedynka.
08:31
„At this moment [the KNF affair is a serious trouble for PiS] because it is a serious blemish on the image of PiS, whose image for years was shaped as that of a party that does not succumb to any pathologies, especially corruption” - said former Prime Minister Leszek Miller in an interview with Beata Lubecka on Polsat News.
08:34
Miller:
I Think the PiS Leadership Is Counting on the KNF Affair Fading Away
„I think the PiS leadership is counting on [the KNF affair fading away], that there will be no more scandalous new information, that the public opinion will not obtain further data, and that the message sent to public opinion will be ‘state institutions are functioning normally, the prosecution is conducting an investigation, no one is obstructing the investigation,’ and that this will be sufficiently reassuring so that PiS's approval ratings will not significantly drop” - said former Prime Minister Leszek Miller in an interview with Beata Lubecka on Polsat News.
08:47
- The prosecution is capable of thoroughly investigating any case, provided it has the appropriate directives and guidance - stated Bronisław Komorowski on the program “Graffiti,” when asked by Dariusz Ociepa if the prosecution could investigate this matter thoroughly. When it was pointed out that the Minister of Justice has personally taken over supervision of the investigation, the former president stated: - This worries me most.
- If the Minister of Justice and a member of the government, who is implicated, the entire government, due to the manner in which the head of the Financial Supervision Authority was appointed, is personally supervising, then if a member of the government is supervising, good things may come out of that supervision, but very bad things may also come out. I mean some biased actions - he explained the reasons for his concerns. He added that he "hopes this will not happen."
08:48
Komorowski:
Here it's evident it's corruption, and not towards a state official, but the other way around
- Regarding the wiretapping scandal, the violation of the law only concerned the waiters recording guests in a restaurant. There was no violation of the law there. However, here it's evident that this is corruption, and not towards a state official, but the other way around - stated Bronisław Komorowski in an interview with Dariusz Ociepa on Polsat News' "Polityczne Graffiti".
08:57
- The point is to be effective, not to talk, and Prime Minister Morawiecki was extremely effective here [regarding the KNF scandal]. He mobilized, one might say, all state services responsible for clarifying this matter, including special services. The prosecutor's office is active, Mr. Czarnecki was interrogated yesterday, and the services are working - stated Jacek Sasin in an interview with Beata Michniewicz on "Salon polityczny Trójki". He added that "the state is acting in this matter."
09:06
"Mr. Chrzanowski certainly behaved unprofessionally, conducting the conversation in this way, tête-à-tête, without witnesses, with a person who was the subject of KNF's interest. The course of the conversation itself indicates at least a lack of professionalism, and whether it indicates something more, an investigation will determine. I certainly wouldn't vouch for Mr. Chrzanowski today, not just my head, but my hand"

Kopcińska:
Let the CJEU and the European Commission First Review the Document, Then It Will Be Made Public
09:56
Kopcińska:
Polish Finances Are Secure. The Financial Market is Stable
10:01
- Chrzanowski should resign for several reasons. Supervisory institutions should be transparent. I would ask someone to accompany me so as not to speak in private. This is basic elementary knowledge. Secondly - such meetings should be protocolled. And that's why it's good that Chrzanowski resigned - stated Andrzej Dera in a conversation with Marek Kacprzak in the program "Tłit" WP. He added:
"Zdzisław Sokal is the president of the Bank Guarantee Fund, which ensures that there are guarantees and that panic does not erupt in the financial market. The president trusts him. I am astonished that the total opposition, which is attacking and talking about a scandal, is actually opposing an EU directive."
10:03
Dera:
Tusk's Return is Not of Interest to the Presidential Chancellery
- Tusk's return is not a matter of interest to the Presidential Chancellery. We approach the issue of the 2020 elections with complete calm. Let the total opposition ponder Tusk's return. We are not afraid of his return because we are not afraid of democracy. Fortunately, it will be the citizens who choose, not journalists and politicians - stated Andrzej Dera in an interview with Marek Kacprzak on the WP program "Tłit".
10:05
Dera:
Poland Takes ECJ Rulings Seriously. They Must Be Respected. We Will Not Back Down from Judicial Reforms.
- There's a saying: no one has ever won against a court. Poland takes the European Court of Justice's rulings seriously. They must be respected. We will certainly not back down from judicial reforms. I can guarantee that - stated Andrzej Dera in an interview with Marek Kacprzak on WP's program "Tłit". Asked about Małgorzata Gersdorf's return, the presidential minister replied: - I can imagine rulings that must be respected.
10:06
- I would not use such words. The formulation was unfortunate - stated Andrzej Dera in an interview with Marek Kacprzak on the WP program "Tłit," referring to the words of Piotr Gliński.
The Deputy Prime Minister stated in "Wprost": - The language used about PiS is meant to exclude, annihilate, dehumanize us, delegitimize us; we are to be treated like Jews by Goebbels. It is meant to inspire disgust towards us.
11:35
„Mariusz Kamiński, the coordinator for special services, is not a credible person in this [KNF] matter; there is a clear conflict of interest in this entire affair, in which Chrzanowski, the President of the National Bank of Poland, and now also Mariusz Kamiński, are entangled. During the election campaign, especially in 2015, PiS spoke extensively about family. They didn't mention it was about the Soprano family, nor did they say that these individual solutions would be implemented as part of state policy. Today, the matter is very serious. It was Mr. Glapiński who appointed Mariusz Kamiński's son, recommending him for a position at the World Bank. This is not a coincidence” – said Cezary Tomczyk from Civic Platform (PO) at a press conference.
„In light of the information that has appeared in the media today, we have no doubt that the coordinator of special services should be excluded from the ongoing investigation as soon as possible and should be immediately granted leave by the Prime Minister. The services subordinate to him should also be excluded from the investigation. This entire construction is completely unbelievable” – added Mariusz Witczak.
11:42
The Civic Platform (PO), Modern Poland (Nowoczesna), the Polish People's Party (PSL), and the Democratic Left Alliance (SLD) have reached an agreement in Silesia.
The announcement was made via a Twitter post by Wojciech Saługa, a prominent figure associated with these political parties.
The specific details of the agreement are not provided in the tweet, but the fact that these four parties, often representing different political spectrums within the opposition, have found common ground in a key region like Silesia, is significant.
This coalition-building effort likely aims to strengthen their collective electoral prospects and present a united front against the ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party.

“We have long waited for PiS, for Prime Minister Morawiecki, to show a willingness to resolve the biggest crisis we face in Poland today after 1989, the crisis associated with the KNF corruption scandal. We expected Prime Minister Morawiecki to truly want to clarify the matter, as it also burdens his legacy. The decision to establish a commission of inquiry will be made either at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister or at PiS headquarters. We requested a special Sejm session and the establishment of a commission of inquiry on Friday. This was not accepted. From that moment on, new information that emerges only shows an even greater need to establish a commission of inquiry” - said the head of the Platforma club, Sławomir Neumann, at a press conference in the Sejm.
“Today, on the eve of the start of the Sejm session, we are submitting a motion and a draft resolution to establish a commission of inquiry. This motion will soon be sent to Marshal Kuchciński. This is a different motion than previous ones. In this proposal, we assume and will propose that the commission will consist of 11 MPs, of which 6 MPs will be from opposition clubs. The KNF scandal concerns the highest levels of power. The most important people in the state, recommended by PiS, are involved in it” - he added.
“If you do not want to do this, then this spectacle, the revelation of tapes, will last for a whole year. You will not escape your own scandal, unless you clarify it together with us” - he said to PiS politicians.

Mazurek:
Party Leadership and Kaczyński Were Unaware of Kacper Kamiński's World Bank Employment. We Will Definitely Investigate the Matter
“We are aware of Mariusz Kamiński's statement, as well as his son's statement regarding his employment. I want to state clearly that the party leadership and Jarosław Kaczyński knew nothing about such employment. We will definitely investigate the matter” - stated PiS spokesperson, Deputy Marshal Beata Mazurek, at a press conference in the Sejm.
“I would like to remind you that for the last 3.5 years, Kacper Kamiński was employed in the European Parliament in Brussels as an advisor to the budget committee. He obtained this employment through a competition conducted in accordance with EP procedures by EP employees. In connection with the job offer at the World Bank, he resigned from his previous position. Kacper Kamiński is not an employee of the NBP” - she added.
13:05
Mazurek:
Kaczyński Presented No Government Change Proposals, None Planned. It's Absolute Nonsense
„The second piece of information concerns the power crisis and alleged government changes presented by Jarosław Kaczyński. This is absolute nonsense. Jarosław Kaczyński has not presented any such proposals to the government, and we are not planning any such changes” - stated PiS spokesperson and Deputy Marshal Beata Mazurek at a press conference in the Sejm.
13:31
Mazurek:
We Will Not Support Any Motion for a Parliamentary Inquiry Committee
"We will not support any motion for a parliamentary inquiry committee. An inquiry committee, as we have stated many times, is needed when state institutions are not functioning. If these institutions were indeed functioning today as they did during the PO era, when we had the VAT scandal, Amber Gold, then establishing such a committee would be justified. For now, institutions are functioning. If it turns out they are not, we will make decisions" – said PiS spokesperson, Deputy Speaker Beata Mazurek, at a press conference in the Sejm.
14:49
- The Council of Ministers has adopted a position on the UN Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration, presented by the Minister of the Interior and Administration - the Chancellery of the Prime Minister (KPRM) informed.
"The government has decided that Poland will not support the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration, both during the international conference on the adoption of this document planned in Marrakech on December 10-11, 2018, and during the subsequent vote at the United Nations General Assembly. The document did not meet Poland's demands regarding the confirmation of sufficiently strong guarantees of the sovereign right to decide who states admit to their territory and the distinction between legal and illegal migration. Furthermore, the formulations present in the final draft – particularly concerning the issue of distinguishing between legal and illegal migrants – may cause significant difficulties in the interpretation and implementation of the agreement."

Timmermans:
To Date, None of the Commission's Concerns, Expressed in its Reasoned Proposal, Have Been Addressed by the Polish Side
- I must inform you that unfortunately, to this day, none of the Commission's concerns, expressed in its reasoned proposal, have been addressed by the Polish side. The systemic threat to the rule of law continues to exist (EP simultaneous translation) – said Frans Timmermans at a meeting of the European Parliament's Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs.

Polish Government Seems to Believe a Bill Amendment is Needed to Comply with CJEU Order on Judges' Return; No Such Amendment Proposed Yet
- It is very important that judges who have returned to work can continue to work and can adjudicate in full independence, awaiting the decision of the Court of Justice. In this context, I note with concern that the Polish government seems to believe that an amendment to the law is necessary to comply with the Court of Justice's order to enable the return of judges. Such an amendment has not been proposed to date (EP simultaneous interpretation) - said Frans Timmermans at a meeting of the European Parliament's Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs.
- I also note with concern the recent resolution of the new National Council of the Judiciary, which states that the judges in question are still retired. This raises concerns about the National Council of the Judiciary and its independence – Timmermans added.
15:47
Mazurek:
By President Kaczyński's decision, MP Marek Matuszewski has been suspended from Law and Justice party and parliamentary club membership
According to a statement from Beata Mazurek, the MP Marek Matuszewski has been suspended from his membership in the Law and Justice (PiS) party and its parliamentary club, a decision made by party leader Jarosław Kaczyński.

A draft amendment to the law restricting trade on Sundays and holidays, as well as on certain other days, has been submitted to the Sejm by PiS. The proponent of the motion is Janusz Śniadek. The project has been sent for review by the Legislative Bureau (BL) and the Bureau of Analysis and Study (BAS), but it is not yet available. It likely aims, in short, to tighten the system, as previously announced by the Ministry of Labour.
UPDATE: A description of the project has appeared on the Sejm's website: It concerns the detailing and clarification of the provisions of the law on restricting trade on Sundays and holidays, and on certain other days, including, among other things, the clarification of exceptions from the trade ban and the performance of work in trade, as well as the performance of activities related to trade.

The CBA politely waited for Mr. Chrzanowski to return from Singapore, enter the KNF, and clear out his desk. This shows how the investigation works.
- We haven't seen such a circus as the CBA put on, politely waiting for Mr. Chrzanowski to return from Singapore, enter the KNF, and clear out his desk. He had several hours to clean everything. When he left the KNF building, CBA agents politely came to check what was going on in his office. This demonstrates how this investigation operates - said Sławomir Neumann in a conversation with Bogdan Rymanowski on the program "Wydarzenia i Opinie" (Events and Opinions) on Polsat News.

Kamiński:
It's Clearly Visible There's Competition Between a Part of the PiS Camp and Morawiecki, and Morawiecki's Competition with His Opponents
„Glapiński will certainly win [in the clash with Prime Minister Morawiecki]. Although Jarosław Kaczyński certainly bet a lot on Mateusz Morawiecki, and did so against the will of a part of his own political base. Today it is clearly visible that a significant element of what is happening on the political scene is the competition between a part of the PiS camp and Mateusz Morawiecki. And on the other hand, Mateusz Morawiecki's competition with his opponents” – Michał Kamiński from the PSL-UED club said in „Fakty po Faktach” on TVN24 in a conversation with Justyna Pochanke.
20:15
Kamiński:
In the KNF Affair, Kaczyński's Silence is the Loudest Cry, Desecrating His Leadership
“In this [KNF] affair, the loudest cry is Jarosław Kaczyński’s silence, which will actually have the most far-reaching consequences. Jarosław Kaczyński, in a sense, is desecrating his leadership by not speaking out on such an important matter. He is not even able to win it for himself. This silence is a defeat” – said Michał Kamiński from the PSL-UED parliamentary club on TVN24 in an interview with Justyna Pochanke.
20:18
“We clearly see that Jarosław Kaczyński is a weak leader. He is unable to take a stance in any direction” – Michał Kamiński from PSL-UED said on TVN24 – “It is telling that Jarosław Kaczyński is too weak today to make any decision whatsoever – in one direction or the other. The man has his deficits, but his great asset has always been the image of a strong leader who always knows what to do”.
