Wednesday's Political Agenda: Sejm to Discuss November 12th Holiday

Wednesday marks the first day of the Sejm session, which will continue until Friday. Today, Members of Parliament will first consider the Senate's amendments to the bill establishing November 12th of this year as a state holiday. The Sejm session will commence at 2:00 PM, and the voting block, during which MPs will address the first item on the agenda, is scheduled for 15 minutes later, at 2:15 PM.

07:53

Gowin:

We Undeniably Won the Regional Assembly Elections. We Lost Big and Medium-Sized Cities, and That's What We Need to Consider.
“If I had to answer in one word who won the elections, that word would be 'we.' If I had to answer in two words, it would be 'we, but.' And it is this 'but' that we need to consider, and we are considering it,” stated Jarosław Gowin in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's “Rozmowa Piaseckiego.” He added:
“We have undeniably won these elections which are most adequate from the perspective of the national scene, meaning the regional assembly elections. We will govern at least six voivodeships, at least half of the districts. This is a vast area of power and strengthening of political influence. However, we lost big and medium-sized cities. We also lost in many district towns, and this is something we need to consider. On the one hand, in direct elections for village mayors, town mayors, and city presidents, one needs 50% + 1. Here, the mechanism of PiS, or the United Right versus the rest of the world, emerged. And the rest of the world won against us. But on the other hand, if we had repeated results like in Gdańsk or Krakow, 35-38% in parliamentary elections, we would govern independently.

07:56

Gowin:

There's a dynamic of mobilizing the anti-right-wing electorate, especially in large and medium-sized cities

- First, we are terribly tired [after the local government campaign]. This applies to me as well, and I think to the Prime Minister most of all. Second, the opposition has reversed a certain trend. And here we return to 'us, but'. A dynamic has been set in motion that gives the opposition hope. If the elections were held now or in December, we would have an independent majority. However, there is a dynamic of mobilizing the anti-right-wing electorate, especially in large and medium-sized cities - stated Jarosław Gowin in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's 'Rozmowa Piaseckiego'.

07:57

Gowin:

Elections Can Be Won Without Large and Medium-Sized Cities, Securing an Independent Majority. However, Governing Effectively Becomes Very Difficult.

- This is something within my purview that we, the politicians of the United Right, must reflect upon. Without large and medium-sized cities, one can win elections and achieve an independent majority. However, governing effectively becomes very difficult because these cities concentrate a large, very creative social capital - stated Jarosław Gowin in a conversation with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

08:02

Gowin on Local Elections: The Thesis is We Failed to Create a Proposal for Conservative Townsfolk

- The thesis is that we failed to create a proposal for conservative townsfolk, and this is a challenge we must face in the coming year - stated Jarosław Gowin in a conversation with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego," citing an analysis from the Jagiellonian Club.

- If I said that in a duel between PiS or United Right versus the rest of the world, the rest of the world beat us, that's not a bad or dangerous prediction from the perspective of parliamentary elections. But from the perspective of presidential elections, it certainly is, because you need 50% + 1 - the Deputy Prime Minister continued.

08:11

Gowin:

We Must Find a Solution to the Judiciary Dispute

- Three issues. Here I will lift the veil slightly on what I say at these closed [internal] meetings. Too many disputes, we need to think about how to communicate our foreign policy more convincingly, especially in the context of relations with the EU, because we have allowed ourselves to be pushed into a corner of alleged Euroscepticism. The third thing – we must find some solution to the dispute over the judiciary – stated Jarosław Gowin in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

- I don't know if [steps] backward. Perhaps steps to the side will suffice, perhaps achieving the same goals with more refined tools will be enough. In the coming days, experts whom we have asked to cooperate will present us with their proposals. Multiple proposals, because there will be more than one – the Deputy Prime Minister continued.

08:16

Gowin:

I didn't fully grasp the reasons why the end of Gersdorf's term held such significant political weight

I will say it openly. I didn't fully grasp the reasons why the question of ending President Gersdorf's term held such significant political weight. The issue of justice system reform is of fundamental importance, not only politically but also socially. This is because the system functions very poorly. However, the matter of the First President of the Supreme Court's term – stated Jarosław Gowin in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

08:19

Gowin:

The First President of the Supreme Court's Term Was Secondary, Yet Became a Dispute Exceeding Poland's Borders

- The issue of the First President of the Supreme Court's term was, in my view, secondary. Nevertheless, it became the subject of a very sharp dispute that extended beyond Poland's borders. Some solution needs to be found here - stated Jarosław Gowin in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

08:28

Szydło on November 12th: Indeed, this bill should have been processed and prepared earlier

- This week, the Sejm is working, amendments will be considered, so I think the bill will pass. If the President signs it, then the bill will be enacted - said Beata Szydło in an interview with Robert Mazurek on RMF FM's "Morning Conversation".

- Indeed, this bill should have been processed and prepared earlier, but it is a special year, because the centenary of independence happens very rarely. Once every hundred years. It is worth giving people a chance to enjoy these celebrations longer – added the former Prime Minister.

08:32

Lubnauer:

For Now, There's No Reason to Believe Nowoczesna Won't Survive Until the End of the Term

I think that for now, there is no reason to believe that Nowoczesna will not survive [until the end of the term]. We created a banner for the local government elections, the Civic Coalition. Let's look at the big picture. I took over the party at the most difficult moment, not only for the party but also for the opposition. We managed to create a coalition that achieved a very good result in these elections. We have another stage. At this moment, we need to talk about the future” – said the leader of Nowoczesna, Katarzyna Lubnauer, in an interview with Beata Lubecka on Radio Zet.

08:32

Szydło on European Parliament Elections: I Will Likely Run

- We will be able to confirm once the lists for the European Parliament are approved. However, I have stated many times and I stand by it, that such a proposal has appeared and it is a proposal I am taking very seriously. I will likely run - said Beata Szydło in a conversation with Robert Mazurek on RMF FM's "Morning Interview".

08:33

Lubnauer:

No current plans to form a joint Civic Platform and Modern coalition in the Sejm

Such attempts and such ideas [of forming a joint coalition in the Sejm] appear in Civic Platform regularly. Such ideas emerged six months ago, two years ago. For now, there are no such plans. We are cooperating” - said the leader of Modern, Katarzyna Lubnauer, in an interview with Beata Lubecka on Radio Zet.

08:37

Lubnauer:

Some Proposals from PiS to Local Government Officials Constitute Political Corruption

We can influence the democratic outcome, how we prepare for the elections, what offer we prepare, and what the voters decide. Talks and negotiations are ongoing [in the regions]. The problem is that these are not negotiations; it’s about proposals, some of which can be shown, and some cannot. Some of them [negotiations conducted by PiS] are political corruption. A proposal was made to our councillor for a job in an energy company. There are many such corrupt proposals everywhere, including councillors being offered the position of Marshal” - said Katarzyna Lubnauer on Radio Zet.

I am convinced that we will manage to retain half of the regional assemblies; whether it will be 9 or 10, I don't know. Talks are ongoing. PiS is attempting to bribe non-partisan individuals in various forms. All these promises concern the upcoming year, because in a year's time, I am convinced that the government will change” - she added.

Mucha:

I Don't Recall Opposition Praising When Leaders Came to Celebrate the Centennial of Independence. There Were Many International Celebrations

The opposition is there to criticize. Is this criticism [of the centennial independence celebrations] valid? In my opinion, it is not. Throughout the year, we had international events. We had leaders from Central and Eastern European countries. We had many international visits related to the centennial, such as the meeting between the presidents of Poland and Germany in Poland and in Germany. Also, in the context of the centennial of independence, there was the visit of President Andrzej Duda to President Donald Trump. There were many international celebrations” - said presidential minister Paweł Mucha on Radio Trójka.

I don't recall the opposition praising when leaders came to celebrate the centennial of independence throughout the year” - he added.

Kamiński on PiS's Results in Medium and Large Cities: The Thesis of PiS's Invincibility is Harder to Defend Today

- A very significant signal, this is what has happened. It is a signal that, in a sense, negates what PiS has managed to achieve over the last two years. I mean the large and medium-sized cities in Poland. The result is 103 to 4. This result shows that the myth that has greatly served PiS, of PiS's invincibility, that PiS rules people's hearts in Poland, this thesis is harder to defend today. Of course, no reasonable person would say that PiS is disappearing from the scene. That is obviously untrue. It is a party with significant and stable support – Michał Kamiński said in a conversation with Jacek Prusinowski on Radio Plus's "Sedno Sprawy".

09:02

Kamiński:

The Hunger for a Leader Like Tusk is Palpable. If He Decided to Run for President, I Believe He'd Have Huge Chances

- Undoubtedly, if only from what we saw on Monday, the hunger for a leader like Donald Tusk is very clearly visible. If Donald Tusk, which would make me very happy, decided to run for president, then against the backdrop of the weakening, because there's no point in dwelling on it further, of President Duda, he would have huge chances - said Michał Kamiński in an interview with Jacek Prusinowski on Radio Plus's "Sedno Sprawy" (The Core of the Matter).

09:16

Mucha:

I view some judges' activities with surprise. The ECJ's order is not self-executing, it does not constitute an independent legal basis for someone to feel reinstated.

I view some judges' activities with surprise, and with a regrettable surprise. I believe, and we are consistent on this as the KPRP, that the ECJ's order is not self-executing, it does not constitute an independent legal basis for someone to feel reinstated, for a situation to arise where they cease to be judges in retirement and can return as active judges” - said Minister Paweł Mucha on the Third Programme of Polish Radio.

We have doubts related to the content of this order. The case is ongoing. This order is provisional” - he added.

Sejm Calendar for 2019: One Session Per Month from January to June

Next year, deputies in Wiejska will convene for only one session per month – according to the draft calendar of Sejm sessions that 300POLITYKA has seen. In July, exceptionally, there will be two sessions, but August is always a month of parliamentary holidays.

The Sejm will therefore convene before the break from July 17-19, and again from September 11-13. According to the draft, each session will last three days – from Wednesday to Friday. The last scheduled session is the aforementioned September 11-13. It is not excluded that this will be the last Sejm of this term. Parliamentary elections will be held afterwards.

PiS on Twitter Invites to the Unveiling Ceremony of Lech Kaczyński's Monument

Miller:

No Single Biggest Winner Can Be Identified in These Elections
It is worth comparing with the local government elections from 4 years ago and with absolute numbers. PiS has 2 million more votes, KO has 1 million more, PSL has 900,000 fewer, and SLD has 30,000 fewer. PiS and KO have secured mandates in the regional assemblies. As for cities, the biggest winners are the city mayors and their own electoral committees. No single biggest winner can be identified in these elections. PiS is unlikely to regain large cities. PiS will try to take them over, but they won't succeed before the parliamentary elections. The dividing line, in a simplification, runs between large and medium-sized cities and the population living in small towns, in villages - stated Leszek Miller in a conversation with Marek Kacprzak on WP's program "Tłit". He added:
"PiS has two options – to intensify or to soften its tactics. I don't know Jarosław Kaczyński's psyche that deeply, but if I were in the PiS people's shoes, I would soften. Because the resistance of the urban population stems from the threat that Poland might face problems in the EU, and the idea of integration is very deep there. I would try to resolve all disputes with the EU as quickly as possible, starting with the CJEU ruling. PiS should stop using rhetoric that portrays the EU as an enemy."
- I get the impression that TVP's propaganda is not aimed at winning over undecided voters, but at hardening the convictions of PiS's core electorate. If a conflict were to arise between the PiS leadership and Jacek Kurski, the TVP president would explain: thanks to us, this core electorate is maintained. Kurski would say it's about deepening polarization, which serves PiS - he continued.

10:01

Miller:

Gawkowski's Departure is a Problem for the SLD

- Gawkowski's departure is a problem for the SLD. He is a very capable politician with significant prospects. Undoubtedly, the SLD is a left-wing party, but who Robert Biedroń is and what his movement will become, nobody knows. I've noticed that he tries to avoid the word 'left-wing' like fire, replacing it with the word 'progressive.' Until he announces his program, we will be moving in a fog - stated Leszek Miller in an interview with Marek Kacprzak on WP's program 'Tłit'.

10:01

Miller:

Rozenek's Result is One Big Disgrace
Monika Jaruzelska would have achieved a better result than Andrzej Rozenek. I think many Warsaw SLD politicians would have achieved a better result. His result is one big disgrace – stated Leszek Miller in an interview with Marek Kacprzak on WP's program "Tłit".

10:05

Miller:

Tusk is the Only Politician Who Can Effectively Challenge PAD for the Presidency

- I believe that the only politician who can effectively challenge Andrzej Duda for the presidency is Donald Tusk. I think he is seriously considering his next steps. Personally, I believe his candidacy would be very much needed for my country. Tusk would be an excellent president who, in addition to seriously addressing domestic policy, would have extraordinary capabilities to navigate the international arena - stated Leszek Miller in an interview with Marek Kacprzak on the program "Tłit" WP. He added:

"The members of the commission who are hunting Tusk did not really know how to corner him and were not very aware of his weaknesses. Anyone who thinks they can easily defeat him is profoundly mistaken. He is an incredibly capable, intellectually agile, and mature politician. I have the impression that there is no material that could be used against him. Thus, this commission was established solely to create the impression that Tusk is responsible for something. And the entire course of this commission's work shows that he is not. This is the difference between Tusk's supporters and PiS supporters. According to PiS, power must be concentrated in one hand, and the one who concentrates it should be able to do anything. However, in a liberal democracy, power is dispersed, and various institutions prevent dictatorial rule. What Donald Tusk said about competencies regarding the services is simply the truth."

10:36

Szefernaker:

Direct Elections for Mayors and Village Heads are a Different Kind of Vote; Success Not Seen Like in Regional Assembly Elections

- We are aware that in many towns and municipalities where our candidates ran for mayor and village head, they did not achieve such successes. These direct elections for mayors and village heads are a slightly different type of election, and we did not see the same level of success as in the elections for regional assemblies - said Paweł Szefernaker in an interview with Marcin Fijołek on Polska.pl.

10:45

Szefernaker:

The march cannot be broken up because of one idiot, just to make an example of him, while endangering tens or hundreds of thousands of people

- If the organizers, services, or the city have no partner on the other side, then action must be taken, the march must be dispersed, but not in a situation where someone shows up wearing a single t-shirt. Simply put, the law must be enforced against that person who wore such a t-shirt, and not another. I will even say, if it concerns issues related to the glorification of totalitarian regimes or those which are forbidden by Polish law, which are not allowed in our tradition, our spine, our fundamental values, then that idiot who comes out wearing such a t-shirt will have the law enforced against him. The march cannot be broken up because of one idiot, just to make an example of him, while endangering tens or hundreds of thousands of people - said Paweł Szefernaker in an interview with Marcin Fijołek on Polska.pl.

Civic Platform (PO) Requests Urgent Information on Police Protest During Current Sejm Session. Wójcik: The Situation is Dramatic
The situation in the police force is currently dramatic. According to estimated data, as many as 30,000 officers are currently on sick leave. This represents one-third of the Polish police's full staffing. The current situation threatens the security of the state and its citizens. We expect Minister Brudziński to provide information during this Sejm session regarding the scale of the officers' protest and the actions the ministry intends to take to resolve this problem. During this Sejm session, we are submitting a request for urgent information. We want a debate on the situation in the police force to take place in the coming days, especially as we have the security of Independence Day ahead of us. All indications suggest that this security operation will be exceptionally difficult due to the number of officers on sick leave,' stated Marek Wójcik from Civic Platform (PO) at a press conference in the Sejm.

Kopcińska on Election Results: A Tangible Outcome of the Government's, Prime Minister Morawiecki's, and PiS's Work. A Great Success and a Great Challenge.

We are governing independently in 6 regional assemblies. Negotiations are still underway in at least one or two more. This is undoubtedly a huge success. The number of mandates we have for municipal and district councils are hard figures. We have seen a growth of over 25% in our voter numbers in absolute terms compared to 2014. This is a tangible outcome of the work of the government, Prime Minister Morawiecki, and PiS. A great success and a great challenge,” said government spokesperson Joanna Kopcińska in an interview with journalists in the Sejm.

14:12

Kopcińska on amendments to the Supreme Court Act: We want to reconcile fire with water. We always adhere to the law, while being convinced of the righteousness of our actions

Analytical work is underway, work that is a serious challenge for lawyers. There is no doubt about the righteousness of our actions. We want to reconcile fire with water. We always adhere to the law, we always abide by it, while being convinced of the righteousness of our actions, that the reforms we have introduced are necessary and in line with the expectations of Poles” - said government spokesperson Joanna Kopcińska about the amendments to the Supreme Court Act.

14:16

Kopcińska on Police Protest: I Believe in Minister Brudziński's Effectiveness. I Hope an Agreement Will Be Reached Through Dialogue
“I believe in Minister Brudziński’s effectiveness. He has shown this by presenting hard data in the form of money for the services, including police officers. The fact that he proposed a concrete raise starting in January, then in July, and paid overtime, all shows that he wants to and cares. I hope an agreement will be reached through dialogue” - Joanna Kopcińska said in the Sejm.

Gronkiewicz-Waltz Bans Independence March: "Warsaw Has Suffered Enough from Aggressive Nationalism"

"Both the history of Poland, and in particular Warsaw – Warsaw has suffered enough from aggressive nationalism. In June, I sent a letter to Minister Brudziński regarding the joint security of the ceremonies organized in Warsaw on November 11th. This letter was completely ignored. He did not contact me. For a year, no indictment has been filed regarding the events at the Independence March in 2017, despite the prosecution, as we know from our work, possessing an expert opinion on prohibited ideologies at the Independence March" – said the Mayor of Warsaw, Hanna Gronkiewicz, at a press conference.

"I consider with full responsibility that the centenary of the Polish state regaining its independence should not have looked like this. Hence my decision to ban the march" – she added.

Wąsik:

HGW's Actions Will Lead to Record Attendance at the Independence March on its 100th Anniversary

Maciej Wąsik, a politician from the Law and Justice party (PiS), has stated that the actions of Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz, the then-Mayor of Warsaw, will result in a record turnout for the Independence March on the 100th anniversary of Poland regaining its independence.

This statement, made on Twitter, suggests that Wąsik believes Gronkiewicz-Waltz's policies or decisions regarding the march, or perhaps broader political tensions, have inadvertently galvanized support for the event. The Independence March is a significant annual event in Poland, often associated with nationalist sentiments. The 100th anniversary, in 2018, was a particularly symbolic occasion.

Wąsik's comment implies a political strategy or outcome where opposition to certain figures or policies indirectly boosts the popularity of nationalist gatherings. The original tweet can be found at: https://twitter.com/WasikMaciej/status/1060163516936699904

Kaczyński Requests a Break and Convocation of the Senior Council:

Petru Insulting the President Is Not Something to Be Ignored.

- I have a formal motion. Specifically, I would ask for a short break and the convocation of the Senior Council, because the fact that Mr. Petru is insulting the President of the Republic of Poland is not a matter that can be simply ignored - stated Jarosław Kaczyński during the Sejm session. Following this request, the Marshal of the Sejm announced a break and convened the council.

- Messrs. Petru and Tarczyński have violated the dignity of the chamber. Based on the Sejm's regulations, I state that in my opinion, they have violated the dignity of the chamber. The Sejm Presidium will deal with this matter after analyzing the transcript - informed Marek Kuchciński after the council.

- This truly shows where you have your president. It shows his place in the food chain. At the end. You give him two days to write a bill - said Ryszard Petru during the discussion on the Senate's amendments to the November 12th act.

Hofman on HGW's Decision: With a Touch of Finesse, This is a Good Moment for the 'Good Change' to Take Away the Opposition's Quite Neat 'CONSTITUTION' Logo and T-shirts

Adam Hofman, a former MP and a prominent figure associated with the Law and Justice party, has commented on the recent decision made by the Mayor of Warsaw, Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz. In a statement posted on Twitter, Hofman suggests that this moment presents an opportune chance for the ruling 'Dobra Zmiana' (Good Change) coalition to strategically undermine the opposition.

According to Hofman, with a bit of 'finesse,' the government could seize the opportunity to claim the opposition's "quite neat logo and 'CONSTITUTION' t-shirts." This statement implies a political maneuver aimed at co-opting or discrediting symbols and messaging that have become associated with the opposition's agenda, particularly concerning constitutional matters.

The reference to "Dobra Zmiana" is a common term used to describe the political platform and governance of the Law and Justice party. The phrase "odebrała opozycji całkiem zgrabne logo i koszulki KONSTYTUCJA" (take away the opposition's quite neat logo and 'CONSTITUTION' t-shirts) suggests a desire to neutralize or reappropriate the visual and ideological branding that the opposition has cultivated, likely in the context of recent political disputes or legislative actions related to the constitution.

The provided link leads to a tweet by Adam Hofman, presumably containing the full text of his statement and potentially further context regarding the specific decision by Mayor Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz and the opposition's branding.

Trzaskowski:

Warsaw Residents' Safety is Paramount. I Agree with HGW's Decision
The most important thing is the safety of Warsaw residents. I agree with Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz's decision, and we have discussed it. We are now waiting for a clear declaration from Minister Brudziński whether the PiS government is capable of ensuring the safety of Warsaw residents or not. I have heard statements, even from Prime Minister Morawiecki, who doubted whether the organizers would ensure safety. Hence this decision. We are in a legal procedure and are awaiting the justification, a clear declaration from the PiS government – said Rafał Trzaskowski in an interview with TOK FM. - As I understand it, there is still time (regarding a possible appeal against the decision of the Mayor of Warsaw – ed.), but there is no place for fascism in Warsaw, I have clearly stated this. Unfortunately, racist or fascist slogans appeared, for example, a year ago, and the PiS government tried to justify it in a certain sense. However, Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz stood her ground here; when such slogans appeared, she requested that such a demonstration be dissolved, and the PiS government did not do so – Trzaskowski added. - He takes full responsibility for this (Brudziński in case of overturning the decision – ed.). We will see if there is an appeal against this decision, we will see what the court says, and we will see if PiS politicians take full responsibility for it, because so far they have encouraged people to appear at the march with children, and then they went to Krakow. We are waiting for a clear declaration from the PiS government, which is responsible for ensuring safety on the streets of Warsaw – stated the president-elect of the capital.

President and Government to Organize "White and Red March" on the Independence March Route. Spychalski: All Other Marches Cannot Take Place by Operation of Law
"In connection with today's decision by Mayor Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz to ban the Independence March, which could result in further, completely unnecessary escalations of negative emotions that could disturb the centennial celebration of regaining independence, the President of the Republic of Poland invited Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki to the Presidential Palace today for consultations on this matter" - said presidential spokesperson, Minister Błażej Spychalski, at a briefing.
"During the meeting, it was agreed that, in accordance with proposals from veteran circles, a march will be organized, a joint white and red march, which will have the character of a state ceremony. Like any state ceremony, the march will be under the honorary patronage of President Andrzej Duda. The government will be responsible for organizing the march itself. Of course, we invite all Polish women and men to participate in this march. Let's show that we are one, common, white and red team. Let's show that we can celebrate together on this day"
"This is a march that will have the character of a state ceremony. Therefore, all other marches that might potentially run along the same route cannot take place by operation of law" - Spychalski added. When asked if the march route would be the same as the Independence March route, he replied yes.

Bosak:

This Looks Like an Attempt to Take Over the March. The Independence March Will Definitely Not Change Its Route
- This is an astonishing move, completely surprising. Just like the surprising decision of Madam President, it shows that both PiS politicians and those from Civic Platform view the Independence March, the fact of its existence, and the fact that it gathers so many people who travel from all over the country using their own money. I would like to remind you that the organizers have not seen a single zloty from those 200 million, they haven't 'smelled' it. They were never invited by the president to the committee for the centenary of independence. The only thing they could count on were words of condemnation from these high-ranking officials. At this moment, if this is indeed the case, it would look like an attempt to take over the march. Politicians have had an appetite for this for a long time – said Krzysztof Bosak in an interview with Marcin Zaborski on RMF FM's "Popołudniowa rozmowa" (Afternoon Conversation). - We will certainly not push around with anyone. We will organize the Independence March exactly as it was announced. The Independence March Guard will provide security, regardless of how politicians try to disrupt this grassroots gathering. The Independence March will definitely not change its route, especially since we expect a court ruling tomorrow which will make the march legal again – added Bosak.

Bąkiewicz of ONR: The March Itself is an Organic, Social Expression, and That's What Matters Most. We Want the President to Take Notice. Now We Await the Court's Decision, Which Will Be Paramount.

- The location is not a major issue; we can rejoice that this march will definitely proceed because it is about Poles, about the participants, about the nation that created it itself. We often reiterated that the march itself is an organic, social expression, and that is what matters most. We would like the President to pay attention to this. Now we are awaiting the court's resolution of this matter, and that will be most important to us – said Robert Bąkiewicz, Deputy Head of the Main ONR, in the Sejm.

Gowin:

I Consider HGW's Decision a Provocation. Situations Could Arise That Would Spiral Out of Control, and on the Centennial of Regaining Independence

- I wasn't surprised, but I consider this decision a provocation, which was thwarted thanks to the initiative of the President and Prime Minister. It was obvious to everyone that those intending to participate in this march would, in the vast majority, not comply with the ban. Situations could arise that would spiral out of control, and on the centennial of regaining independence – Jarosław Gowin said in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on the program “Wydarzenia i Opinie” on Polsat News.

- I hope everyone will comply with the Head of State's initiative – Gowin added.

Kukiz:

I can't imagine organizers who have invested a lot of money and effort into this march, regardless of their worldview, suddenly yielding their place

- Frankly, I can't imagine organizers who have invested a lot of money and effort into this march, regardless of their worldview, who have been organizing this march for many years, who have awakened patriotism in Poles at a time when patriotism was being uprooted, I can't imagine them suddenly yielding their place - said Paweł Kukiz in a conversation with Bogdan Rymanowski on the program "Events and Opinions" on Polsat News.

Lubnauer on HGW's Decision: I Understand the Dilemmas She Faced, But I Would Have Made a Different Choice

- When I first heard Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz's decision to ban the ONR march, I thought to myself that I understand the dilemmas she faced, but I would have made a different decision. Because the dilemmas are clear. On the one hand, we know what happened at marches in recent years. Consequently, we know that it is clear that the law will be broken again. The question is whether the constitutional right to assembly is higher or the issue of preemptive response to potential threats. Or is it the fact that we currently have police protests involving taking sick leave, which should be taken into account by the mayor. There is another issue – is a ban on the march, which is known to attract many people anyway, a lesser threat than, for example, a decision to stop the march during its course due to lawbreaking. These were difficult choices. So I understand all these dilemmas, but I would have made a different decision. Above all, to not introduce the ban on the march – stated Katarzyna Lubnauer in an interview with Grzegorz Kajdanowicz on TVN24's "Fakty po faktach".

19:54

Kukiz:

If the President Invites All Political Options, Including Ours, and Marches, I Will March Too
We don't know anything yet, we only have announcements. We don't know if the President will participate. We don't know if the President will invite all political options. If the President invites all political options, including our option, and walks in this march, it doesn't matter whether he's at the front, in the middle, or at the back, I will march, I will stay, even though I had other plans - said Paweł Kukiz in an interview with Bogdan Rymanowski on the program "Wydarzenia i Opinie" (Events and Opinions) on Polsat News.

19:58

Lubnauer:

PiS is the Godfather of ONR

- Let it be stated here once and for all that the PiS party is the godfather of ONR. That it is their political offspring. And they greatly, so to speak, support ONR, they do not fight against it. It was once said that one should be lenient towards the weak and strong towards the strong. And PiS wanted to pursue such a policy, but in reality, they are strong towards the weak, for example, towards protesting disabled people, towards citizens who protest, for instance by hanging t-shirts on monuments, while they are very lenient towards the strong, such as these fascists, racists, etc. - stated Katarzyna Lubnauer in an interview with Grzegorz Kajdanowicz on TVN24's "Fakty po faktach".

20:11

Lubnauer:

What has happened means that PAD and PMM will lead the ONR march
At this moment, one could say, the situation will be clarified and everything will become clear, because what has happened now means that President Duda and Prime Minister Morawiecki will lead the ONR march. It will be the same march all along. The route is the same, the invitation is for everyone. The same participants who were already arranged will arrive - stated Katarzyna Lubnauer in an interview with Grzegorz Kajdanowicz on TVN24's "Fakty po faktach" (Facts after Facts).

Dera:

Those who protested in Lublin now say President Gronkiewicz-Waltz's decision is good and should be implemented

[Gronkiewicz-Waltz] acted wrongly. We practiced this a few weeks ago when the President of Lublin banned the Equality March. At that time, voices were raised saying that this should not be done, that it was a violation of the constitutional principle of freedom of assembly. The court confirmed that this cannot be done, and now those circles that protested then are now explaining that President Gronkiewicz-Waltz’s decision is good and should be implemented. Gatherings should not be prohibited preventatively” – said presidential minister Andrzej Dera in “Kropka nad i” during a conversation with Monika Olejnik on TVN24.

Dera on the Ban of the Independence March and the Presidential Demonstration: Every Cloud Has a Silver Lining

There is no evil that does not bring some good” – responded Minister Andrzej Dera to Monika Olejnik's suggestion on TVN24 that if Gronkiewicz-Waltz had not banned the organization of the Independence March, the President would not have proposed his own. “This [Independence] march would have taken place anyway, but due to this decision, there would have been no control over it. In the name of responsibility and shared celebration, the President and the Prime Minister took responsibility for this march”.

21:25

Dera:

Government Will Respond to CJEU Decision, Amendment to Be Prepared

There will be a government response [to the CJEU decision], an amendment will be prepared. This is what is being discussed. Only then will these actions [reinstating judges] be legal. It doesn't work on the principle that one judge in interim proceedings says something and the legal order in Poland has changed” – stated Minister Andrzej Dera in an interview with Monika Olejnik on TVN24.
