Lubnauer on Rumors of Modern MPs Moving to Biedroń: It's Nonsense

- We are at an age where we know not to believe everything that is printed. Of course, this is nonsense. It does not refer to any politicians, only to some activists of Nowoczesna. Unfortunately, internal party struggles, whether from the outside or within, are something normal - Katarzyna Lubnauer said in an interview with Piotr Gociek and Daniel Wydrych on "Sygnały Dnia" on Polish Radio Channel One.

07:36

Lubnauer:

Regional Assembly Elections Will Be a Plebiscite Between Civic Coalition and Law and Justice

- The regional assembly elections will be very important, they will decide how we observe the political scene. The regional assembly elections will be a plebiscite. A plebiscite between Civic Coalition and Law and Justice. Therefore, I think they are stirring up a bit more emotion than usual – said Katarzyna Lubnauer in an interview with Piotr Gociek and Daniel Wydrych on "Sygnały Dnia" on Polskie Radio Program I.

07:50

Czarnecki:

Any Polish Prime Minister Would Have Time for Kubica. I Believe the Matter Between the Gentlemen is Settled

- I think any Polish prime minister would have time for Robert Kubica. Kubica happened to be in Poland at that time because he often stays abroad. Robert Kubica was invited by Prime Minister Morawiecki to the Chancellery of the Prime Minister to talk with this great Polish athlete. I believe the matter between the gentlemen is settled - stated Ryszard Czarnecki in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego". He added that Lotos had already decided to sponsor Robert Kubica last year.

- Of course, there are no coincidences, and naturally, they met at a specific historical moment, but the effect is excellent. It's good for Poland that a Polish driver will have the opportunity to race in Formula 1. Thanks to Prime Minister Morawiecki - added the PiS MEP.

07:56

Czarnecki:

PM Morawiecki Will Remain Prime Minister After These Elections. The Result Will Be Good and His Position Will Be Strong

- Prime Minister Morawiecki – I am convinced – will remain Prime Minister after these elections. I think the result will be good and that his position will continue to be strong – stated Ryszard Czarnecki in a conversation with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego".

PiS Leader Jarosław Kaczyński on Dorota Gawryluk's Show Today

The Law and Justice (PiS) party leader, Jarosław Kaczyński, will be a guest of Dorota Gawryluk on Polsat News's "Wydarzenia i opinie" (Events and Opinions) today at 7:15 PM.

08:08

Czarnecki:

My Son Arranged This Internship Himself

- I do not consider it inappropriate that Przemek, for 3 months, did not even work but was rather on an internship at PKO BP - stated Ryszard Czarnecki in an interview with Konrad Piasecki on TVN24's "Rozmowa Piaseckiego". He added that it was a three-month internship, for a sum of just over a thousand one hundred zlotys in Warsaw. - My son arranged this internship himself - he continued.

#24HoursWithThePM Campaign Underway, Organized by 300POLITYKA and WP

The joint campaign by 300POLITYKA and WP began this morning in front of Prime Minister Morawiecki's residence. Later, at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister (KPRM), the head of the Polish government showcased several elements important to him. This was followed by a press review and discussions with, among others, Jacek Sasin and Michał Dworczyk.

Tyszka:

PM Morawiecki Has Lost Credibility. He Should Resign

- He [Prime Minister Morawiecki should resign]. This is because he has lost credibility. What is emerging from these recordings indicates that he is a negation of what PiS has always declared, namely the fight for clean politics, against corruption, nepotism, cronyism, and favoritism, etc. We learn that, on the one hand, he was thinking about supporting an incompetent politician from Civic Platform, and later it turned out that he was happy... What kind of person must you be to be happy that someone broke their arm? - stated Stanisław Tyszka in an interview with Beata Lubecka on Radio Zet. - We have an inconsistency between his current image and what is emerging from these recordings - he added.

08:28

Tyszka:

We'd Support a Motion to Dismiss PMM. But to Appoint Schetyna - Never
If it were a motion to dismiss, then yes [Kukiz '15 would support it], but to appoint Grzegorz Schetyna [as Prime Minister] - never. They're two of a kind - stated Stanisław Tyszka in a conversation with Beata Lubecka on Radio Zet.

08:29

Jaki:

I wonder what else the Civic Platform would have to do, what else they'd have to stoop to, not to vote for PO? All Civic Platform governments in Warsaw ended in scandals.

I wonder what else the Civic Platform would have to do, what else they'd have to stoop to, not to vote for PO? All Civic Platform governments in Warsaw ended in scandals. The bridge scandal, the Warsaw arrangement, and now we have the reprivatization scandal” - said Patryk Jaki, the United Right candidate for the Mayor of Warsaw, in an interview with Piotr Witwicki on Polsat News.

08:34

Jaki:

We'll Have Conferences and Live Online Discussions. It Will Be 36 Hours of Intense Effort, But Warsaw Is Worth It

We have planned various bakeries, places significant from a security perspective. We will show the entire calendar. We will have conferences and live online discussions. It will be 36 hours of very intense effort, but Warsaw is worth it” - said Deputy Minister Patryk Jaki in an interview with Polsat News.

08:34

Sasin on "locusts": Language straight from Goebbels' propaganda
Even in the greatest political disputes, there has never been an attempt to dehumanize political opponents in this way. This is language straight from Goebbels' propaganda, from the darkest times, the Nazi era, where opponents of that regime were called insects, vermin - said Jacek Sasin in an interview with Marek Pyza on TVP1's "Political Quarter Hour".

08:35

PMM:

We Worked on a Map with Adamczyk Showing Which Rail Stretches Should Be Rebuilt

This is, for example, a map that Minister Adamczyk and I recently worked on. It shows in which places which stretches of railway tracks should be rebuilt, also due to increased rail traffic, and because we want to connect smaller centers with each other – stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki during the #24godzinyzPremierem event organized by 300POLITYKI and WP.

08:37

Jaki:

Warsaw's Problem Isn't Global Warming. The Real Issue for Warsaw is Smog

Warsaw's problem is not global warming. Much indicates that [global warming] exists, but there are disputes on this topic. I don't want to deal with global warming. Warsaw's real problem is smog. For 12 years, this has been completely neglected” - said Patryk Jaki, the United Right's candidate for the mayor of Warsaw, in an interview with Piotr Witwicki.

08:41

Jaki:

The Key Question Isn't Whether We Want to Be in the EU, Because We All Do, But What Kind of EU. I Don't Want to Be in a Union That Measures Bananas

We all want to be in the European Union. As a young man, I myself campaigned for the European referendum; I wanted Poland to be in the Union. I still do. The key question isn't whether we want to be in the Union, because we all want to be in the Union, but what kind of Union. I don't want to be in a Union that measures bananas” - said Deputy Minister Patryk Jaki in an interview with Polsat News.

08:42

Sasin on Jaki: I think he wanted to show that he wouldn't be tied down by party shackles, that he doesn't want a partisan presidency of Warsaw

- I think he wanted to show that as the future mayor of Warsaw, because we are counting on it and I think he is also counting on the people of Warsaw choosing him. If this choice is considered in purely theoretical, rational terms, then his program, his ideas predestined him for this choice, that he wouldn't be tied down by party shackles, that he doesn't want a partisan presidency of Warsaw - said Jacek Sasin in an interview with Marek Pyza on TVP1's "Political Quarter Hour".

08:47

Tyszka:

The Tapes Scandal is a Platform Scandal, but Also PiS's

- Unbelievable hypocrisy. This shows that the tapes scandal is a scandal for Civic Platform, but also for PiS. Not only because Prime Minister Morawiecki was recorded, or that we may fear he could also be blackmailed, but because PiS, having control over all services, did not explain it for 3 years. The state failed. In such a situation, the Sejm should fulfill its control role and establish an investigative committee - stated Stanisław Tyszka in an interview with Beata Lubecka on Radio Zet.

08:53

Budka on Schetyna's "Locusts" Comment: I Want to Apologize to Every PiS Voter Who Felt Offended, Because It Only and Exclusively Concerned PiS Activists

"I am referring to a normal comparison, and I would absolutely prefer that we focus on Kaczyński's 'treacherous faces' or 'worse sort'. This [the 'locusts' comparison] was actually mild, because what PiS activists are doing every day in Poland, how they have filled state-owned companies – that is illustrative. No one had PiS voters in mind. I respect everyone, even those who vote differently, because everyone has the right to choose, but I do not respect those PiS activists who are treating Poland in exactly this way. This is solely a description of the actions and methods that PiS has implemented in Poland for three years. We respect every PiS voter because they have the right to choose" - said Borys Budka from Civic Platform in an interview with Piotr Kraśko on Radio TOK FM's "Poranek".

"Civic Platform has never used Jarosław Kaczyński's language. Perhaps this biblical comparison did not reach everyone. If any PiS voter felt offended, it absolutely did not concern voters, but every day PiS politicians prove that this description is mild anyway. I want to apologize to every PiS voter who felt offended, because it only and exclusively concerned PiS activists" - he added.

08:57

PM:

Today we can complete our efforts to enhance the sovereignty and competitiveness of Poland's energy sector, especially the gas sector
I am very pleased that today we can complete our efforts concerning the enhancement, on the one hand, of sovereignty, and on the other, of the competitiveness of Poland's energy sector, particularly the gas sector. Our predecessors wanted to sign an agreement with Gazprom until 2037. That would have truly been a gas shackle and dependence on Russia for many years – said Mateusz Morawiecki during a press conference before the signing of the PGNiG agreement for American gas. Meanwhile, with the arrival of the Law and Justice government, we embarked on decisive actions aimed at acquiring diverse gas sources, both domestic and from various directions around the world, with special emphasis on the possibility of importing gas from the United States and Norway – added the Prime Minister.

"Parking for Mordor". Jaki: If I become Mayor of Warsaw, around 1500 new parking spaces will be created here
The famous Mordor in Warsaw, exceptionally ill-conceived, which is a symbol of the disastrous policy pursued by the local government. It's a situation where, at the beginning, approval was given for over 100,000 jobs to be created in one location, and only later, even to this day, they are thinking about how to ensure transportation, parking spaces, and develop such an important part of the city. In light of the above, I want to tell you that ultimately, I want the transportation problems of Mordor to be solved by building a metro - lines III and IV, the ones I have indicated to you. But in the meantime, new parking spaces are needed. I would like to utilize the areas you see here, at the depot, in public spaces, and create an eight-story parking structure - stated Patryk Jaki at the conference.

As many as around 1500 parking spaces would be created here, which are so badly needed in this part of the city. It is a synthesis of possibilities and a relatively inexpensive and practical solution. In an exceptionally affordable way, around 1500 parking spaces can be created on municipal land. That is why this is my commitment. If I become Mayor of Warsaw, around 1500 new parking spaces will be created here - announced the candidate for the Mayor of Warsaw.

Czarzasty:

I will appeal to the Greens and The Left Together to consider running jointly in the European elections

We will see what the election results will be. I will appeal to the Green party and The Left Together to consider whether we should not run jointly in the European elections” - said the leader of the SLD, Włodzimierz Czarzasty, in an interview with Jacek Prusinowski on Radio Plus.

Ms. Lubnauer and the remnants of Nowoczesna have so far joined forces with Mr. Grzegorz Schetyna. Neither Kosiniak, nor Zandberg, nor Małgorzata Tracz, nor we joined. Do you think that if we had gone together, the Christian democratic PO would have voted for Monika Jaruzelska, and the social democrats from SLD would have voted for Giertych and Ujazdowski? Do you know how many people would stay home? It simply doesn't work. Everyone is a fervent supporter of unrealistic things. Mr. Tusk says he is a fervent supporter of us all marching together on November 11th. But for 10 years, PO and PiS have been arguing day and night, meaning we argue, argue, argue, then we briefly come together and Schetyna says: let's unite. Then Tusk arrives and says: let's go together” - he added.

PM:

I Don't Believe Individual Consumers Will See Electricity Price Hikes

- For quite some time now, there's been this completely unwarranted psychosis. I don't believe there will be price increases for individual consumers. I also know that work is being done to compensate for potential price hikes for businesses, similar to what Germany and Western countries are doing - stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki during the #24godzinyzPremierem event organized by 300POLITYKI and WP, responding to an article in SE about electricity price increases.

09:58

PM on Elections: I'm Not Terribly Stressed. Wise People Say Not Much Can Be Done at This Stage, But We Must Fight to the Last Drop of Sweat

- 3 days until the end of the campaign. I must say I'm not terribly stressed. At this stage, wise people who know the specifics very well say that not much can be changed anymore, but of course, we must fight to the last drop of sweat - stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki during the #24HoursWithThePrimeMinister event organized by 300POLITYKI and WP.

PM's Office Suggests Naming a New Gas Field 'Wincenty Witos' in Conversation with PGNiG CEO

While the article doesn't contain the full text of the conversation, the provided Twitter links offer context. The tweets from @LukaszMezyk, dated October 16, 2018, suggest a discussion between the Prime Minister's Office (PMM) and the CEO of PGNiG (Polish Oil and Gas Company) regarding the naming of a newly discovered gas field. One of the suggestions put forward was to name it 'Wincenty Witos'. This proposal likely references Wincenty Witos, a prominent Polish politician and three-time Prime Minister, who was a key figure in the interwar period and a leader of the Polish People's Party (PSL). The implication is that the naming of national resources, such as gas fields, can carry symbolic and political weight, potentially honoring historical figures significant to Poland.

Gasiuk-Pihowicz on Ziobro's motion to the Constitutional Tribunal: Mr. Ziobro, Mr. Jaki, should receive a large medal from Mr. Putin

- At this moment, we have a statement, because that's what this boils down to, from Minister Ziobro and Minister Jaki, meaning ministers responsible for the Polish justice system, which undermines the supremacy of EU law and, what's more, wants to strip Polish courts of the ability to pose questions to the European Court of Justice regarding the interpretation of European law. This leads to the undermining of our membership in the European Union. These are no longer jokes, this is not journalistic language, this is a direct path to our exit from the European Union – said Rafał Trzaskowski at a press conference in the Sejm.

- For filing this motion, for destroying the legal foundations of the independence of Polish courts and pushing Poland out of the European Union, Mr. Zbigniew Ziobro and Mr. Patryk Jaki should receive a large medal from Mr. Putin. It must be said directly that PiS is pushing Poland towards the East – added Kamila Gasiuk-Pihowicz.

11:00

Prime Minister Morawiecki: We Will Recreate Railway Connections

- This is a bit of history, from the last 30 years. When we entered the period of free Poland, there were about 30,000 km of railway tracks, and then, successively, most governments partially closed some connections, many of these connections, down to a total of about 20,000 km of railway tracks. We are undertaking a program that aims to reverse this phenomenon, this unfavorable phenomenon - stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki in Jasionka Mazowiecka. He added:

"This moment is groundbreaking. This is a turning point from which we can say that we will recreate railway connections. This is a program for the recreation of local and regional railway connections. There are very large cities in Poland, such as Jastrzębie Zdrój or Lubin, which do not have direct connections, and we certainly want to recreate various types of railway connections there in the coming years."

- I am very pleased that we are creating a comprehensive program that will cover cities with populations above 10,000 inhabitants, from which there will be connections to larger centers, so that this entire communication network is guided by a kind of logic and simultaneously creates a unified communication grid from the perspective of the ability of residents of individual regions to travel and move around our country. We believe that such possibilities are the foundation of the Plan for Responsible Development - added the Polish Prime Minister.

As he emphasized, the program will cost several billion zlotys in the first phase, and in the longer term, it may amount to many tens of billions. - Today, after many years of dismantling railway tracks, we want to stop this wave - said the head of the Polish government.

11:19

Rau:

I Concede to Public Opinion Calling for Zdanowska's Resignation for the Common Good

- The Electoral Code does not deprive her of the passive right to vote, and therefore she has the legal capacity to run for office. Nevertheless, should her candidacy end in electoral success, which is a future and uncertain event, I would undertake actions within the governor's competence to ensure the legality of the proceedings of local government bodies, which excludes the exercise of public authority by a person convicted by a final and legally binding judgment for an intentional offense prosecuted ex officio – said Zbigniew Rau at a press conference.

- An analysis of the presented circumstances leads me to believe that Hanna Zdanowska's candidacy for the mayor of Łódź, should it indeed end in success, would have to lead to multiple problems, including serious legal complications for the Łódź local government. In this situation, I concede to those voices of public opinion that call upon Ms. Hanna Zdanowska to resign for the common good, for the good of the residents of Łódź – Rau added.

11:21

Paruch:

Research Shows PiS is the Only Party Whose Logo Evokes Positive Associations

- I'll let you in on a secret. Research clearly indicated that PiS is the only party whose logo evoked very positive associations. All other parties had results three times smaller. Building a different campaign would be ineffective (...) PiS clearly made a political offer aligned with its brand, leveraging the significance of its strength - stated Waldemar Paruch in an interview with Marcin Fijołek on wPolsce.pl. He added:

"If PO achieves a result significantly below 25%, Grzegorz Schetyna has a problem, especially in the context of the campaign he launched a dozen or so days ago - very aggressive, ideologized, aimed at clearly separating PO voters from the rest of Poles who vote for other parties and are undecided. This seems like a suicidal tactic, but it's about maintaining leadership."

11:46

PM:

Two Beautiful Polish Cities, Warsaw and Białystok, Finally Connected by Expressway
I want to say that two beautiful Polish cities, Warsaw and Białystok, will finally be connected by an expressway. 180 km will be ready very soon, in a few days we will be able to travel without any obstacles. There is a section of road here where you sometimes have to stop, I myself have been stuck here for 20 minutes, half an hour, sometimes up to an hour, you can get stuck there during the worst times of day in terms of traffic. All of that will be eliminated, these traffic jams will disappear, and we are building this entire communication grid in such a way as to logically connect individual centers, but also in this context, I want to talk about our major investment, which we have also launched, but it's an investment of a slightly different kind. Namely, not an expressway or highway, but local roads. Because as I have travelled many kilometers of roads recently, over the last few months, it's clear that these roads, where they exist, highways, are a great civilizational achievement, but to truly say to Poles that we are raising their standard of living to a truly European level, it's not just about travel between large centers, like here. That's very important, but also access roads, national, provincial, and district roads, in short, all local roads that supply our main arteries with blood from all parts of our body, just as in the national road system, we need to invest in local, municipal, and district roads. And here our Local Government Road Fund, this large fund that we have established, around PLN 6.5 billion, and which we will be replenishing next year, so that our expenditure on local roads, on road repairs, will be many times greater, at least several times greater, and perhaps even up to 10 times greater than in the times of our predecessors. This will be a truly great civilizational leap, in improving communication for all residents, especially in this 'powiat' Poland (rural and small-town Poland) – stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki on the S8 route near Wyszków. - This is also our commitment for the next 3-4 years. We want to cooperate with local governments as closely as possible. Their small contribution, usually 20%, sometimes 30%, sometimes, if they are wealthier, a bit more, but we also have the option for the least affluent local governments to finance practically a huge, lion's share of the entire investment. Just as we did in the Lublin region, several districts, also not far from here, in Podlasie, or in northern Mazovia – added the PM. - We also really need such fruitful and effective cooperation with local governments. This is also worth emphasizing on this occasion – he said.

Supreme Court Rules ZUS's Withdrawal of Appeal Inadmissible

- On October 16, 2018, a ruling was issued in case III UZ 10/18 by the Supreme Court. In this case, the Supreme Court, composed of seven judges, referred five preliminary questions to the Court of Justice of the European Union (the case file returned to the Supreme Court on October 12, 2018). In this matter, the Jasło branch of ZUS (Social Insurance Institution) withdrew its appeal and requested the discontinuation of proceedings. The prosecutor, who joined the proceedings the day before, filed a similar request – informed the Supreme Court spokesperson in a statement.

"The Supreme Court, in the ruling issued yesterday, based on Art. 469 of the Code of Civil Procedure in conjunction with Art. 398[21] of the Code of Civil Procedure and Art. 391 § 2 of the Code of Civil Procedure, deemed the withdrawal of the appeal inadmissible. It should be emphasized that in cases concerning employees and insured persons, rules are in force according to which the protection of their rights is of particular importance. One of these rules is contained in Art. 469 of the Code of Civil Procedure, which in similar procedural situations mandates consideration of the "justified interest of the insured person". This is a special provision in relation to the regulations in Art. 355 of the Code of Civil Procedure. The assessment of the insured person's interest must be objective, as derived from established Supreme Court case law. Undoubtedly, the justified interest of the insured person in this case is to determine which legislation applies to them.

Furthermore, when hearing this specific case, the Supreme Court recognized a broader issue concerning a larger number of people working outside Poland and also occurring in other cases. For this reason, in fulfilling its public law role, the case was referred to a panel of seven Supreme Court judges for consideration. For these reasons, the withdrawal of the appeal, in the consideration of which a legal question arose, and furthermore, doing so at a time when the case was already before the Court of Justice of the EU and a hearing date had been set, violates "good practice" as referred to in Art. 3 of the Code of Civil Procedure. Moreover, such action by the pension authority, being an emanation of the state, is contrary to the principle of sincere cooperation between Member States in the implementation of European Union law, which stems from Art. 4(3) of the Treaty on European Union.

12:03

Karczewski:

We Were, We Are, and We Will Be for Poland Belonging to the EU

- We were, we are, and we will be for Poland belonging to the EU. We have a good place there, an important place. We bring a lot to the EU and the EU brings a lot to Poland and Poles – stated Stanisław Karczewski in a conversation with journalists in the Senate.

12:28

Schetyna:

We Stand United Behind Hanka. Zdanowska is a Member of Civic Platform, on the National Board, and Regional Head – That Will Never Change

- In Łódź, everything is happening faster today than in the rest of the country. I am here to emphasize the importance of these elections, the local government elections in Łódź, for the situation in the entire country. But I also want to state very clearly that we all stand united behind Hanka. We are all guarding and will continue to guard democracy, procedures, and decency. I want to say that we see, we are witnessing an attack, an attempt not of crawling, but of a coup threatening us and an attack on the rule of law and democracy. If a state official, a PiS state official, announces that they will undermine the democratic verdict of the elections, which will be decided on Sunday, that they threaten a democratic choice, it means they want to break democracy. Therefore, we say very clearly: we will not allow this, the breaking of democracy. We will do everything to defend local government, the position of Mayor Zdanowska - stated Grzegorz Schetyna at a press conference in Łódź.

- We believe in these elections. We know that the only answer from Polish women and men for a democratic, self-governing Poland is to be present at the ballot box on October 21st. We all must be at the ballot box, to give a guarantee of decency, credibility, and love for freedom. This is the time. I confirm, Hanna Zdanowska is a member of Civic Platform, she is the regional head, a member of the national board, and this will never change - he added.

12:33

Ziobro on Judicial Criticism of his Constitutional Tribunal Motion: "It's Manipulation by an Extraordinary Sect. Manipulation, Misleading Public Opinion is Sectarian Behavior."

In reality, the articles that appeared last night and are continuing today are a great manipulation by representatives of an extraordinary sect, an extraordinary caste, but one can also call them a sect. Manipulation, misleading public opinion, is sectarian behavior. From the commentaries on the motion I submitted, we learn that this motion means a radical hardening of the Polish government's stance in the dispute with the European Union. I want to assure you that this is a lie. The Polish government has consistently, for many months, maintained the position that the sphere of organization and structure of the judiciary is the exclusive competence of the Member States” - said the Minister of Justice, Zbigniew Ziobro, in Rzeszów.

12:40

Schetyna on the Zdanowska Case: Proceedings Began Under the Previous Statute, So We Must Apply Its Regulations, and They Are Not as Restrictive as the Current Ones

- We wanted to do this on Monday, but today there's a circulation meeting of the [Civic Platform] board, we have expert opinions. Given that the disciplinary proceedings concerning the Łódź issue began under the previous statute, we can, and must, apply the provisions of the previous statute, and they are not as restrictive as the current ones, which is why [Hanna Zdanowska] remains a member of Civic Platform, the regional leader, and a board member - stated Grzegorz Schetyna at a press conference in Łódź.

Kaczyński on potential cooperation with SLD in local government: Everything is possible. Almost 30 years have passed since the PZPR era
Almost 30 years have passed since the existence of the PZPR. Those matters belong to history, very bad history, which still often echoes, but it is history nonetheless. What is important for us is that changes occur in local government and that local government policy becomes more of a policy for the public good. If these are acceptable conditions for the SLD, then everything is possible. In social matters, I believe, it would be difficult to refuse them the continuation of our policy. In other matters, we often differ radically, but if one observes in certain matters, e.g. concerning ideological ones, the actual actions, rather than the declarations of some SLD politicians who are in power today in certain local governments, then there is also some ground for agreement, so this should not be an obstacle – stated Jarosław Kaczyński in Radio Olsztyn, when asked about cooperation with the SLD after the local government elections. - But of course, it is always the case that specific matters decide. For us, the boundary is whether the policy of good change can be continued or not. We do not want power for power's sake. We want power in order to implement good change, and in short, good change is simply a policy for the public good – added the PiS leader.

PSL Criticizes PiS Actions Towards Farmers in New Spot:

Through PiS Policy, Polish Countryside Could Lose 5 Billion from EU Budget

Polskie Stronnictwo Ludowe (PSL) has released a new video spot in which it criticizes the actions of the Law and Justice (PiS) party concerning Polish farmers. The party claims that due to the current government's policies, the Polish countryside could lose as much as 5 billion from the European Union budget.

The video, shared on social media and YouTube, highlights concerns about the future of Polish agriculture under PiS. PSL argues that the government's approach is detrimental to farmers and jeopardizes access to crucial EU funding. The party's message is clear: the current political direction is harming the rural economy and its inhabitants.

This criticism comes at a time when the agricultural sector is facing numerous challenges, including market fluctuations, environmental regulations, and the need for modernization. PSL, traditionally a party with strong ties to the agricultural community, positions itself as a defender of farmers' interests. The spot likely aims to mobilize support among rural voters by framing PiS as a threat to their livelihoods and the future of Polish farming.

The specific details of how the 5 billion loss is to occur are expected to be further elaborated by PSL in subsequent communications or policy proposals. However, the core message of the video spot is a direct accusation against the PiS government for its perceived mismanagement of agricultural policy and its potential negative impact on EU funding for Poland's rural areas.

Kaczyński:

No Plans to Change Prime Minister

- There are no such plans. These kinds of talks are, let's say, babbling at the table, which happens to everyone. I don't take it seriously at all. It's simply material that contains no content that can be seriously considered in politics. A person who wasn't a politician says something, sometimes they are right, sometimes they are wrong, sometimes it's completely normal, sometimes perhaps a bit unfortunate. It doesn't cross any boundary that is insurmountable and which would be compromising. There's nothing to talk about at all. This is the best proof, one might say, of the Prime Minister's innocence. G if there were something serious, it would undoubtedly have been activated. There is nothing serious, therefore, this kind of tapes are being launched. They have no significance - stated Jarosław Kaczyński in Radio Olsztyn, when asked about reports of possible changes in the government, including a change of Prime Minister.

Laskowski on Ziobro's Request to the Constitutional Tribunal: "It's Evident That Conviction in Common EU Values is Rather Weak." Minister Plays Games with Polish Courts, While This Move Preempts a CJEU Decision.

The Minister has the right to use various legal means, to address the Constitutional Tribunal. Nobody intends to take away this right from him, however, such a request, with a question formulated in this way, raises some concern. It means that the conviction regarding common values binding in the European Union, regarding a common legal order, is rather weak in the author of the request, and perhaps it is a broader phenomenon. It is not a strong conviction, and this is one of the fundamental elements of the European Union” - said the spokesperson for the Supreme Court, Michał Laskowski, at a briefing.

It is evident that the conviction in common values is rather weak when this type of request is submitted. One could say that in a sense, this is another example of instrumental treatment of law, of legal means, and this using the Constitutional Tribunal. The Minister, on the one hand, enters into a kind of game with Polish courts, including the Supreme Court, which formulated such questions, and on the other hand, a kind of game, preemptive moves in relation to potential decisions of the CJEU” - he added.

13:36

PM for 300 and WP: I knew about Ziobro's initiative. It's nothing new. Polexit? I don't even know how to comment on that.

- It's nothing new, nothing special. I've been very interested in European law for 25 years, I used to deal with it professionally, back in my previous life at UKE. I dealt with it very intensively. I can make a small digression because I remember when I said at a rally in Sandomierz that I myself was involved in negotiations, the friendly media, not favorable to us, stated: oh yes, Morawiecki was involved himself, but he overdid it here. There is, of course, a Polish idiom "did something himself". When Robert Lewandowski says "I played in this match myself", it doesn't necessarily mean that he was the only one playing, and ten others were sitting on the bench, but it's worth pointing out to the dear editors from "Gazeta Wyborcza" and other various media. Besides, I think Mr. Siemoniak also expressed himself in a similar way and said that he himself negotiated something with the USA, but of course, then the objective media did not notice it subtly, because why would they? Nevertheless, I wanted to say that I also participated in these processes myself and had the opportunity to learn the methodology of the Court of Justice from the inside, as well as these preliminary rulings, i.e. so-called preliminary decisions - stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki in an interview with 300POLITYKA and WP, when asked about Zbigniew Ziobro's motion to the Constitutional Tribunal.

When asked if the Prime Minister knew about Zbigniew Ziobro's initiative, he stated: - It had already earlier... Of course, yes, we discussed it. This initiative was planned earlier and what's more. Similar matters were discussed in the German Constitutional Court, back in 2009 and 2010 (...) The German Constitutional Court ruled then and nobody minded. It is a completely natural course of events that in certain doubtful situations of the legislative state and the interaction between different branches of national power, in this case the judiciary, represented by common courts, and EU bodies, it is necessary to clarify certain specific cases. This is what this matter concerns, however, it is worth emphasizing that various constitutional courts deal with this, including the German one, which is a point of reference for many Polish judges at least, who visit there, that the German Constitutional Court also dealt with it. So it's nothing new. Our Constitutional Tribunal is an extremely professional tribunal.

- I don't even know how to comment on this, because one doesn't know whether to laugh or deeply regret that someone can make such speculations. Of course, the legal status between us needs to be clarified, but we are doing everything to raise the standard of living of Poles to the European level. That is how we understand Europeanness, European standards, and that is also the motto of our government's actions. The standard of living should be at the European level in a few years, we want to catch up with Spain, Italy, then France, Germany, which will probably be a longer process - the head of the Polish government continued, when asked about accusations of Polexit.

13:46

PM Morawiecki for 300POLITYKA and WP: The EU is of great value to us
- For us, the EU is of great value, it is an integration not only of economic structures, but also of trade, investment, and a range of regulatory areas that, incidentally, make life easier for entrepreneurs, sometimes more difficult. For example, the day before yesterday I spoke with the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic about the mobility package - stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki in an interview with 300POLITYKA and WP. - I can say that this was an important topic, where Central Europe feels it is once again being outplayed by those from the West, because they want to implement new rules for posted workers, especially for the transport sector - he added. - I think we need to arm ourselves with patience here, and frankly, I am more convinced that the other side should also delve deeper into understanding the needs of the reform, because we have had such in-depth discussions in many areas, concerning ordinary courts, many topics concerned ordinary courts and the Supreme Court, and the National Court Register and others from the European Commission since January. In fact, many of the topics we discussed with them were carried out as we discussed. Of course, members of parliament also participated in this process, and everything went very smoothly. But you could feel the approaching end of the EU election cycle in the air. Rather, one must keep one's word, at least I always try, and it was different on the other side, and now it's already pre-election fever in the EU - said PMM, when asked if there would be another amendment to the Act on the Supreme Court and a scenario similar to the one with the Act on the Institute of National Remembrance.

13:51

PM for 300 and WP: The EU is not a mutual admiration society where everyone pats each other on the back

- The EU is not a mutual admiration society where everyone will love each other and pat each other on the back. No, we liked being patted on the back during the PO and PSL era, but in reality, we have to fight very hard for our interests. That is what we are doing, and increasingly effectively, what's more, in very many areas within the EU, and this also bothers some people - stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki in an interview with 300POLITYKA and WP.

14:01

PM on Lack of Counter-Signature on Supreme Court Announcement: President's Legal Services Deemed it Unnecessary in This Case

- The President's legal services deemed that in this case it is not necessary, and now it is clear, in the case of appointments, because it is the President's prerogative, very clearly defined in one of the articles of the Constitution - stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki in an interview with 300POLITYKĄ and WP, when asked about the lack of the Prime Minister's counter-signature on the President's announcement regarding vacant judicial positions in the Supreme Court.

14:17

Jaki:

A Crude Manipulation Regarding Polexit

- This is a crude manipulation regarding Polexit. It has nothing to do with Polexit at all. It is a question concerning a certain fragment that could be considered legally contradictory, and a similar substantive fragment has been adjudicated, among other places, in Germany. And I will even say more, it went much further there - stated Patryk Jaki at a press conference, when asked about Zbigniew Ziobro's motion.

14:33

Ziobro:

The claim that the Minister of Justice is introducing a Polish Brexit is a lie and manipulation

The fundamental question is whether the German Constitutional Court believes that the supreme legal act is the European treaty, or whether it believes that the supreme legal act is the constitution. The German Constitutional Court has ruled on the compatibility of European treaties with the German constitution several times before, and has always maintained the same position, that the German constitution is superior to European treaties” - Minister Zbigniew Ziobro said in Krakow.

I would very much ask TVN television not to mislead public opinion. I do not know what purpose it serves that TVN’s tickers are reporting that the Minister of Justice is introducing a Polish Brexit, because that is a lie and manipulation. I would ask that this type of untrue information not be disseminated. It is not true that the Polish government has changed its position in this regard by even a comma. The Polish government has consistently, in its correspondence with the European Commission, maintained the position that matters concerning the organization and system of Polish judiciary are exclusively within the domain of Polish law” - he added.

PiS Presents New Spot on Refugees and Recalls Presidents' Declaration:

Choose a Safe Local Government.
I would like to make a short statement about the stakes of the local government elections and one word that I think describes these stakes very well. That word is "security," both in the personal, family, and social dimension. I think it is very important for every Pole, but we in PiS also believe that it very significantly describes what is important and significant for our countrymen in terms of security, and thus the international situation, threats related to various crises abroad, around the world, including various threats related to illegal migration or refugees. How the policy regarding illegal migrants looked like during the PO governments, I think you all remember perfectly well. It was uncritical agreement, not taking into account at all, in fact, the dimension of Poles' security, the agreement of the Civic Platform government to accept illegal migrants in Poland, thousands of illegal migrants in Poland. This was the Civic Platform's policy, supported by declarations, and de facto actions also at the local level, namely the declaration signed by mayors, whether they were members of the Civic Platform or mayors supported by the Civic Platform, mayors of large, the largest Polish cities – stated Tomasz Poręba at a press conference, recalling the presidents' declaration regarding the acceptance of migrants. He added:
"To this day, neither Grzegorz Schetyna nor these mayors of the largest cities have withdrawn these words. They have not backed down from these declarations. The chairman of the Civic Platform has not backed down, nor have the mayors associated with the Civic Platform. We wondered why this is the case. After several weeks of various talks and meetings, we recalled what Schetyna said during the Civic Platform's election convention, where he said that the Civic Platform would want to liquidate the voivodeship offices, which are representatives of the government in the field, they represent the Polish government, they implement its policy, and thus the policy of the government, in this case PiS, which absolutely does not want to agree and will never agree to the illegal influx of migrants to Poland. So, by liquidating these voivodeship offices, the Civic Platform wants to hand over power at the regional and city level to people, including mayors, who want refugees or illegal migrants in Poland."
The head of PiS's campaign headquarters presented a new spot published on social media on this occasion. He added that PiS will not agree to illegal migrants entering Poland. https://twitter.com/pisorgpl/status/1052530980190334977?s=19

Czarzasty Responds to Kaczyński: Do Not Get Your Hopes Up. You've Undone Too Much of the Left's Achievements - You Are Breaking the Constitution

Włodzimierz Czarzasty, leader of The Left (Lewica), has responded to Jarosław Kaczyński, leader of the Law and Justice party (PiS), stating that Kaczyński should not harbor any hopes, as PiS has significantly undermined the accomplishments of the left and is currently violating the constitution.

In a statement posted on Twitter, Czarzasty directly addressed Kaczyński, saying, "Proszę sobie nie robić nadziei. Za dużo napsuliście dokonań lewicy - łamiecie konstytucję" which translates to "Do not get your hopes up. You have undone too many of the left's achievements - you are breaking the constitution."

This exchange highlights the ongoing political tensions and ideological divides in Poland. The Left party often criticizes PiS for what they perceive as a rollback of social progress and a disregard for democratic principles and constitutional law. The specific "achievements of the left" that Czarzasty refers to likely encompass areas such as social welfare, workers' rights, LGBTQ+ rights, and environmental protection, which have historically been championed by left-leaning political movements in Poland.

The accusation of "breaking the constitution" is a serious charge often leveled against the current government by opposition parties. These accusations typically pertain to alleged infringements on the independence of the judiciary, limitations on freedoms of assembly and speech, and other constitutional principles.

The public nature of this exchange, via Twitter, underscores the direct and often confrontational style of Polish political discourse.

Tusk:

Forget the Plaque. What Matters is Not Undoing Poland's EU Membership

Donald Tusk, the former Prime Minister of Poland and current President of the European Council, has emphasized the paramount importance of Poland's continued membership in the European Union, downplaying more trivial matters.

In a statement shared on his Twitter account, Tusk articulated his stance: "Mniejsza o tabliczkę. Ważne, żeby Polski nie odkręcili od UE" which translates to "Less about the plaque. What matters is that they don't undo Poland from the EU." This statement, referencing a tweet from October 17, 2018, likely alludes to a political debate or symbolic gesture that Tusk considered secondary to the broader and more critical issue of Poland's relationship with the European Union.

The phrase "odkręcili od UE" carries a strong implication of reversal or detachment, suggesting a fear that certain political actions could lead to Poland's gradual or even abrupt withdrawal from the European Union. Tusk's focus on this core issue highlights his consistent dedication to Poland's integration within the EU framework and his concern over potential moves that could jeopardize this membership.

While the specific context of "tabliczka" (plaque) is not fully detailed in the provided snippet, it is understood that Tusk is prioritizing the fundamental strategic direction of Poland's foreign policy over potentially divisive or symbolic local issues. His message serves as a clear signal of his priorities and his unwavering commitment to ensuring Poland remains a committed and integral member of the European Union.

15:14

Schetyna:

Sunday's Elections Will Decide Whether Local Poland Becomes an Autonomous Poland

PiS does not understand local government; they believe that everything should come from Warsaw, centralizing Warsaw at every level. We oppose this; we believe it is wrong and a misunderstanding of the essence of self-governance. A modern country is built by the strength of local government. The best example of PiS's failure to understand regional policy is the headquarters of Lotos. Lotos is the pride of Gdańsk. Lotos is the largest employer in the region, yet PiS is stealing Gdańsk's Lotos from us. Through the decision to merge Lotos with Orlen, local governments will lose PLN 40 million in CIT” – said Jarosław Wałęsa, a candidate for the mayor of Gdańsk, at a press conference.

These elections will decide not only on local headquarters, local government matters, and competence. They will decide on something more: whether we can say that local Poland is an autonomous Poland, whether the voices of residents can be counted on to be heard, whether residents will choose mayors, town heads, presidents, and councilors, or if, in the long term, they will choose parliamentarians and MEPs. These elections will be about that” – added Grzegorz Schetyna.

Trzaskowski on Ziobro's Motion: A Straight Path to Poland's EU Exit

- These are the final days of the campaign, so full mobilization and full determination are needed. That's why I wanted to thank the ladies on this final stretch. It's incredibly important because it's easier to talk with the residents of Warsaw in such company, with smiles. Today, it's mainly about Europe, because everyone we meet is outraged by Minister Ziobro's words, which question European law, the supremacy of European law, and that's a straight path to Poland's EU exit. Questioning treaties, signed by Lech Kaczyński, by the way. This is unacceptable. Today, a debate is taking place about what it should be like. Warsaw, our local governments. We want Warsaw to be European, to develop according to its aspirations, to be able to benefit from European funds. And today, the people of Warsaw on the streets of my city are asking us, and we are answering: if the Civic Coalition candidates win, it will be a guarantee that our cities, towns, and villages will remain European. Full mobilization, a convention tomorrow, and then we will work practically non-stop for 24 hours until the beginning - stated Rafał Trzaskowski at a press conference.

15:28

Trzaskowski on PM's Support for Jaki: "It's Surprising That the Prime Minister Supports Non-Partisan Candidates"

- It's surprising that the Prime Minister supports non-partisan candidates. I'm curious whether the Prime Minister will also support other non-partisan candidates who are running, for example, in Warsaw on the Bezpartyjni (Non-Partisans) lists? First and foremost, I hope that the Prime Minister and ministers will withdraw this blackmail that Warsaw residents have recently been subjected to. Saying that investments will be made by the government only where votes are cast for the ruling party. This is blackmail, and the people of Warsaw will not yield to such blackmail - stated Rafał Trzaskowski at a press conference, when asked about Mateusz Morawiecki's support for Patryk Jaki.

15:48

PM Supports Jaki and Emphasizes the Importance of Planned Metro Lines III and IV:

Warsaw Needs a Thorough Overhaul.

- Warsaw needs a change, a thorough change. For its mayor to see it not just from Bankowy Square, but to truly know the problems of each of the districts, 18 districts, and perhaps even the 19th district, because if Patryk Jaki becomes president, there will be this District of the Future. His opponent, Mr. Trzaskowski, does not consider such a possibility, which is a shame, because it is a very beautiful and good idea that is also connected with a modern Warsaw, one that can be a great center of innovation, one that will surprise all of Europe, because the investment areas that have been established there are intended to have the character of a certain tax enclave as well - stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a joint press conference with Patryk Jaki. He continued:

"We are considering today how transport in Warsaw looks. We have 1 and 1/4 lines of the metro, I think that's right, roughly, I said it correctly, because you can't even say it's one and a half lines of the metro. Bucharest has 4, Budapest, let alone Paris, probably has around 15 lines, London of course, major European cities. In Warsaw, after 12 years of Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz's rule, we could not manage to complete another full metro line. I want to say that these very large, essential infrastructure projects for Warsaw's development, such as the metro, metro lines III and IV, I have seen very precisely what the route of this line should be, Patryk showed it to me, and I know the costs involved, and I want to say that we have so effectively sealed the tax system, it's visible in CIT, VAT tax, and only those who close their eyes to the obvious do not notice this gigantic change, and I emphasize this in the context that money is important, real money is needed. We have snatched it from the hands of mafias, tax criminals, and this money is today being allocated to various kinds of large projects."

15:50

PMM:

Patryk Jaki Does Not Divide Warsaw Residents
Our candidate, Patryk Jaki, is also a person who does not divide Warsaw residents into those who live on the right bank or the left bank of the Vistula, those who have lived here for a very long time and those who have lived here for a shorter time. Warsaw is one for all our wonderful residents, and I think this needs to be taken into consideration, because just as Poland is one and we don't want to divide it, so too is Warsaw one – stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a joint press conference with Patryk Jaki.

15:52

PMM:

Trzaskowski Promises to Do What HGW Didn't for 12 Years. Is That What We Want?

- When you look at it, and Patryk showed it to me, one can say it brutally: Rafał Trzaskowski promises to do what Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz didn't do for 12 years. Is it what we want, to give a fifth chance? Should we trust these people who simply confirm through their actions the credibility of what they set out in their program - stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a joint press conference with Patryk Jaki.

15:59

Jaki:

Warsaw, While Respecting All That Has Happened So Far, Needs New Development Impulses

- I very much wanted to thank the Prime Minister for his assurances that our program in Warsaw will be implemented. Warsaw, while respecting all that has happened in the capital so far, needs new development impulses. For Warsaw to develop significantly faster than it has so far, it needs not a war with the government, as the Civic Platform proposes, but cooperation with the government. And three specific things that differentiate me from Trzaskowski, and which, thanks to government assurances, will be possible to implement – stated Patryk Jaki at a joint press conference with Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki. These three things are the construction of the Future District, a bridge, and the construction of the III and IV metro lines.

16:00

Wojciechowicz Lists Completing Metro Line II and Building Line III, as well as the City Center Bypass, as Priorities. 'We Present Realistic Solutions and Show Where the Money Will Come From.'

The election campaign is drawing to a close, and when I listen to the proposals of various candidates, I get the impression that they could take photos against the backdrop of the fifth, sixth, or 167th metro line, against the backdrop of the 19th district on the Vistula, and in a few other imagined places that have nothing to do with reality. We propose realistic solutions. We show where the money will come from for what we want to do; others don't say where they will get the money for their promises” - said Jacek Wojciechowicz, a candidate for Mayor of Warsaw.

Among his priorities, Wojciechowicz listed completing the second metro line and starting work on the third, completing the city center bypass, enclosing the Skra and Polonia stadiums, and building the Museum of Modern Art.

16:16

Morawiecki Heads to Brussels

Prime Minister Morawiecki, who is heading to the European Council summit in Brussels, is accompanied by Konrad Szymański, among others.

16:24

PM on Conversation with Kubica: Mr. Robert's Reaction Was Very Positive Overall. He's Such an Open Person

- We clarified everything with Mr. Robert. I also explained the overall context to him. The entire statement was not about him, but about a mechanism that, incidentally, never came into being, so there's nothing to discuss. Mr. Robert's reaction was very positive overall. He's such an open person – said Mateusz Morawiecki in an interview with Łukasz Mężyk and Tomasz Machała.

16:25

Ziobro:

It is untrue that my motion is an attempt to lead Poland out of the EU
Poland belongs and will belong to the European Union. Its EU status must be strong, no worse than that of other countries. We cannot have fewer rights than Germany or other member states. No one can question our rights. Therefore, in connection with media reports about my motion as the Prosecutor General to the Constitutional Tribunal, I declare that it is untrue that this motion is an attempt to lead Poland out of the European Union. It is also untrue that Poland intends to question the competences of the Court of Justice of the European Union, and equally untrue are the insinuations that the Polish government wants to denounce the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union - wrote Zbigniew Ziobro in a statement sent to the media. The essence of my motion is for the Constitutional Tribunal to examine the competences of Polish courts to pose preliminary questions in cases that are not covered by European law. The position that only national law regulates the system of courts in a given country was taken by the Polish government in response to the European Commission's accusations regarding judicial reforms. The motion of the Prosecutor General is a consequence of this position. The same position, and even a more far-reaching one, was expressed in a ruling by the constitutional court in Germany - emphasized the Prosecutor General.

16:33

PM Morawiecki on Tapes: I Absolutely Regret the Swear Words
It was a private meeting; I wasn't involved in politics then. It's clear that I particularly and absolutely regret the swear words. However, my life from childhood in tough neighborhoods, the so-called Bermuda Triangle No. 2 in Wrocław, taught me about hard, street-level life, and things were varied later on as well – said Mateusz Morawiecki in an interview with Łukasz Mężyk and Tomasz Machała.

16:45

PMM on Brexit: Tusk is Playing with Fire

- The relations are either formal or perfunctory, because we haven't really discussed this directly, neither now nor before. Chairman Tusk is playing with fire when it comes to Brexit. This is a very serious matter, and playing strongly for a hard Brexit could mean gigantic losses for Poles living on the islands - said Mateusz Morawiecki in an interview with Łukasz Mężyk and Tomasz Machała.

PM Arrives in Brussels: Today's Agenda Includes V4 Leaders Meeting and Working Dinner with EU Heads of State

The Prime Minister has already arrived in Brussels, where he will participate in the European Council summit. Later today, Mateusz Morawiecki will attend a meeting of the Prime Ministers of the Visegrád Group countries.

And at 7:00 PM, he will participate in a working dinner of all Heads of State and Government of the European Council.

18:21

Trzaskowski after meeting with ZNP: We want teachers starting their careers to receive higher allowances. We are short of these teachers.

- First and foremost, we discussed teachers; this is an extremely important matter. Our female and male teachers bear enormous responsibility for our children, and I say this not only as a politician but also as a father. We want these allowances, financed by the local government, to be higher. The City Council has decided to increase allowances for form tutors and school principals. We want teachers who are just starting their careers to receive higher allowances, as we are short of these teachers. We want as many people as possible to enter the profession - said Rafał Trzaskowski at a press conference after a meeting with Warsaw branches of ZNP.

18:48

PM on Brexit: We're Facing a Rather Impasse Situation
I am here today to negotiate the best possible deal regarding Brexit, regarding the United Kingdom's exit from the European Union, because that is happening. Here, we are facing a rather impasse situation. There are politicians here in Brussels who are approaching this irresponsibly. There is a far-reaching risk that an agreement may not be reached. It primarily concerns Northern Ireland and the border between the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, but this could affect Polish entrepreneurs, Polish citizens – said Mateusz Morawiecki in Brussels.

18:57

PM on Migration: These Issues Are Moving in the Right Direction, Just as Poland Desired

- Very good news. Simply put, our excellent conclusions, which we painstakingly negotiated in June, at the end of June at the European Council, are now being translated into practice, the implementation of specific provisions regarding refugees and migration. Here, for the first time, these issues are moving in the right direction, just as Poland desired. The Austrian presidency has proposed certain solutions, and we are on the right track to developing a positive outcome - said Mateusz Morawiecki in Brussels.

19:26

Kaczyński:

Reports of Serious Illness Were Exaggerated, But the Campaign is Naturally Uplifting. It's a Moment of Heightened Focus

- Reports of [serious illness] were exaggerated. It's not about some very serious matters, but the campaign is naturally uplifting. It's a moment of heightened focus - stated Jarosław Kaczyński in an interview with Dorota Gawryluk on Polsat News.

19:30

Kaczyński:

Polexit is a propaganda tactic. We are pro-European, our stance hasn't changed.

- This [Polexit] topic is invoked for propaganda reasons and at the same time, it's a topic that harms not PiS, but Poland. We were pro-European, meaning in favor of Poland's membership in the EU, back then, and we remain so. We haven't changed our minds in the slightest. I will remind you that Porozumienie Centrum [Centre Agreement] was the first to propose such a postulate, to join, back then, the EEC. I was perhaps the first European politician, serving as prime minister, to publicly speak about a European army. We have nothing to justify. The problem is simply this: Platforma [Civic Platform] sought positions in the EU for its politicians, while we advocate for Polish interests - stated Jarosław Kaczyński in an interview with Dorota Gawryluk on Polsat News.

19:36

Kaczyński:

I have no regrets about Ziobro
"The Minister of Justice has certain obligations stemming from the Polish Constitution, and they must be fulfilled. This has nothing to do with any Polexits or any anti-European sentiment. It is enough to refer to the rulings of the German Constitutional Court, which has dealt with precisely the same type of case, not once, and decided in a direction suggested by the minister in his motion. But I repeat: this has nothing to do with any anti-European stance. Simply put, certain matters must be clarified, both regarding the situation in Poland and the extent to which the Polish Constitution is binding within Poland, and how this relates to various European regulations," stated Jarosław Kaczyński in an interview with Dorota Gawryluk on Polsat News. - "I have no regrets about Zbigniew Ziobro, but I know perfectly well that one must pursue one's own interests, and we are doing that, just like all EU countries. However, there were those who primarily pursued their own positions, and that was not good," added the PiS leader.

Kaczyński:

As Far As I Know, I Am Absolutely Convinced That Prime Minister Morawiecki Has Done Nothing Wrong in His Life

- As far as I know, I am absolutely convinced that I know well, Prime Minister Morawiecki has done nothing wrong in his life, apart from the fact that, being an opposition activist, despite his very young age, he was soundly beaten. Not at all because of his father, but because of his own activities – said Jarosław Kaczyński in an interview with Dorota Gawryluk on Polsat News's "Wydarzenia i Opinie".

Kaczyński on PMM Tapes: Just Idle Chatter with No Significance
Prime Minister Morawiecki is a human being like any other. He's had conversations in the past. He has cooperated with us for years, and I want to emphasize this very strongly, I've said it before, he helped us immensely in preparing the economic program and then achieved truly great things. And not as Prime Minister, he started as Minister of Finance. He led us to secure funds that enable us to rank first in the world, when it comes to social policy – stated Jarosław Kaczyński in an interview with Dorota Gawryluk on Polsat News.

I didn't know [the content of the tapes], only that it's just idle chatter that holds no significance. What else can the opposition say at this point, when they have no program and just repeat: PiS, PiS, PiS? My name comes up more often, but currently, I have strong competition in the form of Mateusz Morawiecki, and I'm even a little happy about that, but beyond that, these are completely insignificant matters – added the PiS leader. – It hasn't changed my approach to Morawiecki. I didn't find anything there that could be described as compromising, showing a dishonest person. I found nothing of that sort there – he said.

PJK on Post-Local Election Coalition: If It Doesn't Serve the Good Change, Then Not with SLD, Nor Anyone Else

- I'm not winking, it's Mr. Czarzasty who changes his mind. Today he said something rather unfriendly. However, in Olsztyn, if I wasn't misled by the journalist conducting the interview with me, he said something completely different. I don't get offended, sometimes I just have a little laugh – said Jarosław Kaczyński in an interview with Dorota Gawryluk on Polsat News's "Wydarzenia i Opinie" (Events and Opinions).

- If it will serve the good change, on that condition. If it will not serve the good change, then not with SLD, nor anyone else. Then we prefer to be in opposition – added the PiS leader.

19:56

Kaczyński:

Synergy Between Government and Local Authorities is Needed. Our Goal is Cooperation. We Have No Illusions About Not Holding Power in All Local Governments.
"Synergy is needed because very often matters that are important from the perspective of a voivodeship, or even the entire country, cannot be resolved because local authorities are unable to reach an agreement even among themselves, but also with the central government. Our aim is for this cooperation to exist. We have no illusions that we will not hold power in all local governments. There are very many local governments in Poland. We would like to reach a situation where synergy serves the achievement of our ultimate goal. The ultimate goal is very simple. Only today is it becoming realistic, it is starting to be visible on the horizon, and that is catching up with Western European countries in terms of per capita income," said PiS chairman Jarosław Kaczyński in Polsat News.

19:59

PJK:

We Sometimes Disagree With Our President, But He Is Our President, and I Am Convinced He Will Win the Next Election
Will you be running in the presidential elections? – Dorota Gawryluk asked. No, I will not. We sometimes disagree with our president, but he is our president, and I am convinced that he will win the next election – Jarosław Kaczyński stated on the program “Wydarzenia i Opinie” on Polsat News.

20:05

Kaczyński:

I wouldn't attach great importance to individual polls. We'll see the results very soon.

There is a certain imbalance in terms of media power. We, because we promise a lot and do a lot, and have been very heavily criticized for decades, since the times of the Polish United Workers' Party [PZPR], are therefore very closely watched by society. Consequently, we are dealing with various kinds of [poll] fluctuations, but I wouldn't attach great importance to individual polls. We'll see the results very soon” - said Jarosław Kaczyński, the party leader, on Polsat News.

20:06

Kaczyński:

Polish citizens will have good courts in time

Polish citizens will have good courts in time, and they were not good. I am deeply convinced that better people will come, but above all, that the structures which led to the conviction that 'we are an extraordinary caste' and in essence 'we don't have to report to anyone about what we do, we are completely independent in our decisions, even from laws, from the legal system,' that this situation will change. This is a very deeply bad, pathological situation. It is a situation that weakens society because it weakens the state, the certainty and predictability of law” - said Law and Justice party leader Jarosław Kaczyński in an interview with Dorota Gawryluk on Polsat News.

20:07

Kaczyński:

I hope for a better result than four years ago

- I'm not going to prophesy at this moment. I will only say that I hope we will have a better result than the last one, four years ago, which was the best in our history - said Jarosław Kaczyński in a conversation with Dorota Gawryluk on Polsat News' "Wydarzenia i Opinie".

- I wouldn't want to talk about numbers at this moment, it's always dangerous. It depends on the voters. We simply want to win in as many regional assemblies as possible and try to govern there – added the PiS leader.

20:08

Kaczyński:

Regarding Morawiecki's Work in the European Union, If One Knows the Details I Cannot Describe Here, Then Everything is Fine

Mateusz Morawiecki became Prime Minister for very different reasons. I believe that, regarding his work in the European Union, if one knows the details which I cannot describe here, then everything is fine. Regarding the conflict, well, we have infringed upon serious interests. VAT alone has recovered at least over 200 billion Polish zlotys in the last few years. These are also external interests” - said Law and Justice party leader Jarosław Kaczyński on Polsat News.

20:37

Kaczyński:

We Are Moving Strongly Towards This, Aiming for a Single, Grand March of Independence. Perhaps It Would Be a Springboard for the War to Subside and Eventually End

This is an excellent initiative, and we are moving strongly towards this, aiming for a single, grand march, a march of independence, where everyone who values Polish independence will be present. If November 11th were a day of truce, although that's the wrong term, because there should be no war in Poland, we don't want any war, we want agreement and work, that would be great, and perhaps it would be a springboard for this war to subside and eventually end. The fact that there is a government and an opposition, and that they argue with each other, sometimes saying harsh words, sometimes unfair ones, is normal in a democracy. This cannot be avoided, unless someone desires a dictatorship” - said the leader Jarosław Kaczyński in Polsat News.

PM Morawiecki: Karczewski Discusses with Organizers of Previous Independence Marches
I very warmly ask our entire opposition to be able to celebrate this day of independence in a spirit of unity, joy also shared from regaining independence 100 years ago – stated Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki in a conversation with 300POLITYKA and WP. – Let's do it together for Poles, to march together in the independence march, but let's also celebrate this day together and refrain from any unnecessary quarrels – he added. – Marshal Karczewski is talking with the organizers of the previous independence marches because they preserve some value, tradition from the past of these several marches. Someone evaluates them one way, someone else another, but they organized them. We want to be fair to everyone, not to appropriate anything. I don't want to be at the forefront, God forbid. I can hide in the very middle, as long as it is peaceful and to honor the memory of our great compatriots – stated the head of the Polish government.
