Petru Leaves Nowoczesna: 'I Do So With a Heavy Heart, Because Nowoczesna is My Own Child, But Today It's Following Its Own Path'
"Three years ago, around this time, together with Joanna Scheuring-Wielgus and Joanna Schmidt, among others, we were preparing for the founding congress of Nowoczesna. I founded a party of reform, a progressive party, of common sense, which disagrees with party cronyism, mediocrity, and conformism. Today, unfortunately, in my opinion, Nowoczesna is no longer such a party, which is why I have made the personally difficult decision to leave Nowoczesna today," said Ryszard Petru at a press conference in front of the Sejm.
"I do this with sadness and regret. These have been very important three years for me, but our voters expect clarity, unambiguity, and honesty from me and from us, and that is lacking. I know that, unfortunately, today Nowoczesna does not offer voters what it guaranteed three years ago. I do so with a heavy heart, because Nowoczesna is, in a way, my own child, but one that today is already following its own path," he added.
